The Joke Sony Found Too Rude For Classic RPG Alundra - Duration: 3:45.
Alundra for the PlayStation was brought to the West in 1997 by Working Designs - a localisation
company responsible for bringing many classic RPGs from Japan to Western shores, including
Arc The Lad and Lunar.
Before going bankrupt in 2005, Working Designs also had a very distinctive style when it
came to their approach to localization and they made no secret that they liked to change
the original translations for new markets.
This approach led to large amounts of humour, pop culture references and other deviations
from the Japanese being found in their works.
Alundra is no exception to this and lines such as this dialogue here, paint the picture
rather well.
In fact, Censored Gaming could, and probably should, take a closer look at Working Design's
unique translations sometime and highlight more of these kind of differences from the
Japanese originals.
However, today we'll be taking a look at the one and only time that Working Designs apparently
pushed things too far and was forced by Sony to change their dialogue.
Company president Victor Ireland spoke about this over on NeoGAF where he explains:
"There's only been one scene in a game that we ever had to edit out and re-do because
the console manufacturer wouldn't approve it as-is.
It was in Alundra, and I thought it was a GREAT double entendre, but it dropped jaws
at SCEA and amongst some of the press who got it in the review copies.
SCEA made us take it out of the game before they'd publish it."
The scene in question is only a very brief moment and involves a puzzle where you have
to jump on another character's head so you can then jump up to a higher ledge.
The other character is a female called Meia and, in the retail release, she makes a pun
about giving you a "headstart"...
However, in the planned version, when she gives you her head she instead talks about,
well, giving you head.
To quote: "You're lucky I give good head loverboy!
Most girls would ask that you cough up a ring first!"
Victor speaks about this more in the thread and explains:
"We literally got calls from almost all the reviewers cracking up and saying "are you
REALLY shipping with that in?"
I was happy because I knew they actually were PLAYING the game they were reviewing to the
end (becoming a rarity, even back then).
We intended to leave it, but SCEA made us take it out."
There have been lots of other times, though, where Working Designs really pushed the envelope
and some of these also came close to be removed.
One of these can be found in Arc The Lad Collection for, again, Sony's PlayStation.
In the second game is a party member called Diekbeck, who is a robot with the special
trait of being unable to gain levels and level up.
However, despite being permanently set to level 1, Diekbeck still gains experience points
and these can then be transferred to other characters in the party.
Working Designs couldn't stop themselves from making a rather adult joke about this situation
in the game's manual - Diek's name, of course, being quite similar to a very different sort
of word.
So, on page 86 of Arc The Lad Collection's manual you will be able to find a section
all about how and why you may want to suck Diek's experience, with the heading "Sucking
Diek".
In the forum thread, Victor says that Sony, again, had issues with this and that they
even almost pulled the page.
He also makes it clear that the company would add a lot more than just adult jokes to their
translations and states: "There was a pretty good concentration of
straight up funny and a fair amount of literary references to balance out the pop culture
and sexy stuff!"
Needless to say, though, Working Designs approach to localization isn't for everybody with some
preferring accurate translations that stick to the Japanese originals and don't add jokes
and stuff where there were none originally.
Victor responds to some of these concerns and highlights how the company "never aimed
for translation" with their games and how he feels "that's what set (their) work off
from everyone else".
Are you a fan of Working Designs' translations?
Want to see more examples of how Working Designs' handled localization?
Let us know in the comments below and, until next time, thank you for watching!

Silicon Valley High Schools: Then and Now - Duration: 12:03.
Silicon Valley has some of the most highly competitive schools in the nation.
Over the last few decades, it's academic reputation has increasingly attracted more and more high
caliber, highly competitive students to the area who see these schools as feeders to Stanford
and to the UCs.
There are all sorts of urban myths about how extreme these schools have become.
So today we're going to get the real skinny.
I've invited a couple of friends to help me examine Silicon Valley High Schools: Then and Now.
I graduated Lynbrook High School in West San Jose in 1987.
At that time, the Valley was mostly hardware engineers who either worked in high tech or
for aerospace.
Now these were very, very smart people.
The vast majority of them had masters and a good number had Ph.D.s.
Because of this, their kids were pre-disposed to be very smart, and very self-driven people.
As a result, Bay Area schools scored extremely high APIs.
The Valley was also pre-dominantly Caucasian.
So check out these comments from Allison and Felix, who graduated from two of the top ranked
public high schools, Monte Vista and Gunn.
I think it was about 10-15% Asian.
You know, it was much lower than I think what is seen at high schools in the Bay Area nowadays.
Going to Monte Vista back then was very different where I definitely felt like I was a minority.
But then I also felt I was the majority of the minority because most of the minorities
were of Asian descent.
At that time there was a small population of immigrants who came from wealthier families
in Taiwan, Hong Kong, India and Korea.
In the last couple of decades, there's been this rapid increase in the number of immigrants
from Asia specifically that are coming from Southeast Asia and more so China, especially
as those citizens have become wealthier and the government there has opened up more its
emigration policies.
That's probably the most obvious change in these schools.
Newer immigrants tended to settle in Santa Clara Valley and then expended into East Bay mainly
because of the more affordable housing prices.
These are the areas that saw the greatest impact in terms of racial diversity.
I feel like it's obviously predominantly Asian.
I think I saw a statistic in one of our school newspapers it was, I think it was 80%.
80% of our school is Asian.
Although a lot of people like to say that it's 80% Asian, a lot of times it's forgotten
how diverse it is in the sense that within the amount of Asians that we have that there
are different Asians and, like you have Vietnamese people, Korean people, Cambodian, Laos, Chinese,
like it just goes on and on, and I think that really brings a lot of diversity to our school
just because we're getting a lot of different cultures.
And even Indian culture like different regions of it.
So I think it's pretty cool and it definitely shows in our clubs because everyone kind of
brings something different to club day like samosas or boba.
Gunn saw slower changes mainly because Palo Alto's high housing prices were a barrier
to entry.
So the ethnic breakdown of Gunn, I'd say it's pretty diverse but in terms of Asians and
whites; 50% Asian maybe more now, it's getting more and more Asian populated.
A few Hispanics, very few African Americans.
There are some international students.
Having a large immigrant population definitely influences the culture of the school.
People that populate Silicon Valley most of them are immigrants and when it comes to immigrants
starting families and having kids, they've worked really hard to get to where they are
so they themselves have this really comp - I guess not [this desire] just competitive but
just like this, yeah, [desire] desire.
Desire and also drive to be successful and what, and that also I guess determines on what
success is.
in this area it's definitely I guess being able to provide for your family and be -
and live a really comfortable life.
I think that is what ultimately brings out the competitiveness in yourself.
So coming back to that.
Now interestingly, I think Allison, Felix and I all felt that our high schools at that
time were still very, very competitive.
Well, I mean Gunn had a really good academic environment and you know I went from, I graduated
from Gunn and went to Stanford and what I will say is that my high school was ten times
more rigorous than my college.
Yeah, I thought the curriculum was pretty tough and I knew that our high school at that time
was considered you know maybe even number one in California - someone had told me that
when I was in high school.
So it did have a very competitive atmosphere.
But I think what has changed is that the bar for success continues to creep up as nationwide,
college attrition rates improve, so it's becoming more and more competitive to get into colleges
and therefore students are having to do more such as taking more and more AP classes and
earlier on in their careers.
Yeah, so we had AP classes and I took AP History, which was a really popular class to get into
for those that were trying to excel.
I also took AP English and AP Spanish.
And those were the classes of how the people that were trying to strive academically, how they
could set themselves apart from the rest of the class.
More senior year, maybe some took it as a junior but I remember taking them mostly in
my senior year.
Luckily Gunn doesn't allow us to take AP classes until junior year but once junior year hit,
everyone was taking 3 or 4 classes that were AP level and if you were taking 1 or 2, you
might have probably felt left behind.
Everyone takes AP Bio, whether you like it or not, everyone feels like, oh maybe I should
take AP Chem, AP Physics.
Also because of the AP mentality.
Like I have to take as many APs as you can and we obviously Gunn now offers a lot of
AP classes that are STEM based.
It's like a different now.
I'm hearing like freshman and [yeah] sophomores taking it and it's like, don't get me wrong,
it's like really good to challenge yourself but you've got to really stay true to yourself
and, you know, know your boundaries and know your limits about your education.
There are also a larger number of students graduating with honors nowadays.
Entering into my senior year, especially the second semester of senior year, I believe
there were maybe a dozen or more of us that had 4.0s going in.
Specifically if you graduate by your senior year with a complete 4.0 then you'll be rewarded
at graduation and, yeah, it's a pretty popular award I would say.
Like, in terms of how many people get that award, our average GPA falls around 3.5 and
that's 50% of the class so I think you kind of get an idea there like how it would be
skewed in terms of like, what our, how many people actually receive a 4.0.
The career focus has also changed.
When I went to Lynbrook, the focus was really more on general education, there was no emphasis
on tech, and although STEM was still fairly strong, most people went into medicine.
You know I think we all had a core curriculum, that we could take a couple of electives on
top of it, but you know they were all variations within a theme.
It wasn't like there was a completely different academic pathway for us.
You know, you know I think there was an honors, as I recall there was an honors track and,
you know, and so forth and I think about, I guess about 15-20% of the class was in honors.
But, you know, I gotta be honest with you, I wasn't quite sure what other people were
doing because I don't think that, without social media, without as much pressure, we
kind of just focused on what we did, and what our friends did, you know, or our close circle
of friends, and you know, just kind of enjoyed it a little bit more I suspect.
I don't think people really thought about what they wanted to do academically, you know,
as it pertains to going to college.
Everyone just took the general ed. requirements.
After the PC and then successive dot.com booms, there was this huge push to promote STEM and
a lot of the local tech companies were looking to hire grads.
This caused a lot of the students to then focus on a more technical vocation path in
high school.
It think probably most of my friends are going into the STEM field.
And I think, not, I think it's partially because the environment that we live in but I think
it's mostly like our parents, a lot of our parents are in the tech or computer engineering,
engineering STEM field industries, and I always felt like STEM will take you to a job that
will pay well, you'll get into a good college if you're good at this stuff.
On a professional level, it is more concentrated around STEM fields but I do know quite a few
people that are taking interest in liberal arts, even people going to culinary school.
It is a very low amount of people but it's, other, a lot of people, they'll be like OK
I'm going to do CS but minor in Asian-American Studies or Art or Photography and I think
that really shows how even though there's like this pressure to do STEM fields a lot
of kids are trying their best to continue to pursue their interests.
Another effect of the college attrition rate improving is that it's gotten much harder
to get into some colleges.
Although Gunn still remains a strong feeder school into Stanford.
I think there was a higher prevalence of us who went to Stanford primarily because, you
know, the sons and daughters or relatives of Stanford faculty or Stanford graduates,
you know, probably get a little bit, they have a higher likelihood of getting into Stanford.
So we had, you know, students who had Stanford connections as well.
Usually I think we get about 15-20.
I think we had like 18 Stanford students that enrolled this year.
We probably had more than 20 who got in probably, it's usually around that number.
Because Gunn is a public, big California high school, most students feed into UCs as I think
it did always, like 20 years ago, although now I think, especially Gunn, because all
the students are very competitive, so many of us are so qualified, it is getting so hard
to get into UCs, not only for Gunn but like most high school students in California now.
A lot of my friends didn't get into any UCs, they're one of the brightest, some of the
brightest people I know.
It's been interesting to learn that while some things have changed, some for the better,
some for the worst, for the most part, these high schools have stayed the same.
The best part about doing this video has been the opportunity to meet some recent grads.
They're really smart, savvy, and have their heads on straight.
I've only covered two high schools in this video here today, but if you'd like to see
more content like this, please leave me some comments below.
Until next time, peace out Geeksters.

Вязаный ёжик, часть 1. Crochet hedgehog, part 1. - Duration: 15:19.
Hi!
It is 1 hour toy rubric!
I've created such hedgehog, as you asked in comments.
As for me, hedgehog is the most complicated small toy to do.
Thats why you potentially will need slightly more time than 1h.
As firstly we will do a body.
And then will do needles.
So, you will need:
Yarn of a body color.
I'm using Alize Cotton Gold.
Brown yarn, I'm using YarnArt Jeans.
And black yarn.
For sewing the nose and mouth.
As well take 2 beads, for eyes.
I'm using 4mm beads.
And black thread for sewing them.
As well you'll need a hook.
I'm using 2,5mm.
Thread of a contrast color as a marker for a first loop.
Needle.
Scissors.
And sintepone for filling.
Firstly we will do a face.
Doing a magic ring.
And working 4 single crochets (sc) into it.
Tighten the ring.
Row 2: repeating 2 times - 1 single crochet (sc) + 1 increase (inc).
Keep the right side turned to you.
Pull out the yarn, leave a long ending, for sewing.
Fix this ending and cut it off.
Now insert this ending into the needle.
Pick the first loop.
And turning back to the last one.
Now taking a piece of a black yarn.
And sewing a nose in the center.
Doing such knot.
Now moving the needle down, and doing a mouth.
Pulling out the needle from one loop.
And inserting it into the next one.
Now we may tie those endings, and cut them off.
So face is ready! Now doing ears.
Doing a magic ring.
And doing 1 single crochet (sc) in it.
3 chains (ch).
And 1 single crochet (sc).
Tighten the ring.
And we may pull this ending out, and cut it off.
And doing 1 more ear.
Now doing paws - doing 3 chains (ch).
1
2
3
And doing 2 single crochets (sc) into the second loop from the hook.
Pull the yarn out.
And cut it off.
And we need to do 3 paws more.
No we will do a body.
Doing a magic ring.
And working 6 single crochets (sc) in it.
1
2
3
4
5
6
Tighten the ring.
Marking the beginning of the new row with a marker.
And doing 6 increases (inc).
I.e. doing 2 single crochets (sc) into each loop.
Row 3:
Repeating 6 times: 1 single crochet (sc) + 1 increase (inc).
Row 4: repeating 6 times: 1 increase (inc) + 2 single crochets (sc).
Done.
And now, will fix this ending with a knot.
And cutting it off.
And continue working...
Rows 5-13: 24 single crochets (sc) in each row.
I'll work 1 single crochet (sc) in each loop.
I've already finished 13 rows.
Pulling out the yarn, for now, but not cutting it off.
Now I will sew on the face, eyes and ears.
Then we will do needles.
And then we will go on.
So, sewing on the face.
I'll leave this ending from behind.
Count 5th row from the center of a top.
1..2..3..4..5.
And I'll sew on a face in a next way...
I'll pick 3 loops here...
Here, diagonally down...
And here, diagonally down.
And one row below - 3 loops as well.
So into those edge loops I'll sew the edges of a face.
I've done!
Now fixing this ending inside with the knot, and cutting it off.
Face is ready, and now sewing on eyes.
Eyes will be located near the face.
Fixing the thread from inside.
Sewing on the second eye.
Fixing the yarn from inside, and cutting it off.
Eyes are ready!
We will continue in next video!

My Fist Bullet Journal | Setup + September Flip through - Duration: 6:53.
Hello everyone! Today I'm going to show you my first ever bullet journal
and right now I'm decorating my future log, of course only for September, October, November and December.
It's my first time having a bullet journal so I'm just like..
I don't really know what to do, i'm just trying with some washi tape
and just with a regular pen
Then on this page i'm writing a quote
and it says "You can conquer the world" and I really think it's true
Then on this page I'm writing my goals
I only wrote this one, just because I want to fill it up later
and on the other page I'm writing my Saving Goals
and as you will see in a moment I wanna reach 200€ by the end of the year, in four months
It may not seem much to other people,
but even if it's a small amount i will still be happy with it
Then I am going to write my diet tracker because i'm on a diet right now and
I'm going to write my total loss
I'm writing in pencil the weight that i want to reach by the end of the year
and then I'm starting my September setup. This is my cover page.
And I really didn't know what to do with it but I'm going to Uni this year and I wanted to do something related to school.
So I just went with this theme and I wrote some things that I learned in high school.
Then with some watercolor I'm just decorating everything.
And I know it's too late for the September Setup right now so I'm just going to show you the total flip through, and I hope you enjoy!
Okay so this is what I have done.. you can see my future log,
and on the other page the quote, I just find that it helps me so much and, I don't know I just like it.
Then my Goals; as I said before I'm going to fill it up later and that's basically it, and then the Savings Goals.
Then there is my diet tracker page, I just went with some stickers, just to motivate me.
As you can see i wrote in pen the weight that I am right now
and I'm really happy Because I've already lost
13kg in four months, so I'm really happy.
And then my September cover page, with these sentences that i learned in high school.
Then the September month Setup
This page is just a bunch of stuff basically: something important, birthdays
goals for that month and my Youtube and Instagram growth trackers.
And then i have a bunch of trackers because i really like them so I just went with
my Mood tracker and My Sleep tracker, which i find really important because i have problems sleeping,
so it's really useful.
Then my Habit tracker
and that is because I just don't work anymore, it was a summer job and I'm done* with it
Then there's my YouTube page, my YouTube video Ideas page,
and my Expense tracker.
And that page i still have to figure out what to do with it.
Then There is the weekly log and this is the first week; I started with the third week because
We are already on the 15th
And those are little stickers for the weather, which I find really cute
Then there's the fourth week, and the fifth
and it's just like that, just with important and notes
Then these are the last two pages and I want to write some gratitude (at the end of the month)
and I have a little bit of Vision Board, just to motivate me more.
Then there is a little Brain dump and Picture of the month but September is still here and I just
wanna wait until the end of the month to decide
and then there is a quote of the month and.. that's it for my first bullet journal video ever.
I hope you enjoyed, if you did give it a thumbs up and I will see you in my next video. Bye!

I Survived The Holocaust Twin Experiments - Duration: 14:48.
- I was born in 1934,
one of a pair of twins.
Miriam and I were the third
and fourth children in the family.
We lived in a very small village
in Transylvania, Romania.
(haunting music)
We got down from the cattle car.
People were selected to live or to die.
People crying, pushing, shoving,
dogs barking, trying to make some sense of that place,
and I actually turned around
in trying to figure out what is the place?
Never seen a place like that before.
And as I turned around, I realized
that my father and my two older sisters were gone.
Never saw them again.
We were holding onto Mother for dear life.
A Nazi was running in the middle of that selection platform,
yelling in German, "Twins, twins."
He noticed us and demanded to know if we were twins.
And my mother asked, "Is that good?"
And the Nazi said, "Yes."
My mother said yes.
At that moment, another Nazi came,
pulled my mother to the right,
we were pulled to the left,
we were crying, she was crying.
And all I ever remember is seeing my mother's arms
stretched out in despair as she was pulled away.
I never even said goodbye to her,
but I did not understand
that this would be the last time that we would see her,
and all that took 30 minutes from the time
we got down from the cattle car
and my whole family was gone.
Only Miriam and I were left, holding hands and crying.
We were Mengele twins, which we found out
later on what that meant.
(haunting music)
Mengele would count us every morning.
And he wanted to know how many guinea pigs he had each day.
I was used in two types of experiments.
Monday, Wednesday, Friday, they would put me
naked in a room with my twin sister
and many other twins, up to eight hours a day.
They would measure every part of my body,
compare it to my twin sister, and then compare it to charts.
On alternate days, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday,
they would take us to a blood lab,
they would tie both of my arms to restrict the blood flow,
take a lot of blood from my left arm,
and give me a minimum of five injections
in the right arm.
The content of those injections,
we didn't know then, nor do we know today.
After one of those injections,
I became very ill with a very high fever.
My legs and arms were swollen and very painful.
I was trembling as the August sun was burning my skin.
And I had huge red spots covering my body.
The next visit to the blood lab,
they didn't tie my arms.
Instead of that, measure my fever.
And I was immediately taken to the hospital.
The hospital was another barrack,
but it was filled with people
who looked to me more dead than alive.
Next morning, Mengele came in with four other doctors.
Never, ever examined me, looked at my fever chart,
and then he declared, "Too bad.
"She's so young.
"She has only two weeks to live."
For the following two weeks, I have only one clear memory.
Crawling on the barrack floor,
because I no longer could walk.
And crawling to reach a faucet with water
at the other end of the barrack,
and as I was crawling, I would fade out,
in and out of consciousness, telling myself I must survive,
I must survive.
After two weeks, my fever broke.
And I felt immediately a lot stronger.
It took me another three weeks
before my fever charts showed normal.
Miriam ...
When I got back, she was sitting on the bed,
staring into space.
When I ask her, "What happened to you?"
she said, "I cannot talk about it.
"I will not talk about it."
And we didn't talk about Auschwitz until 1985.
(melancholy music)
When I ask her in 1985, "Miriam, do you remember
"when I was taken to the hospital?"
she said yes.
I said, "What happened to you while I was in the hospital?"
She said, "I was under Nazi doctor supervision
"24 hours a day."
It was the same two weeks that Mengele said I would die.
So I said to her, "What happened to you
"after the two weeks were up?"
She said she was taken back to the labs,
injected with many injections
that made her feel very sick.
As we found out years later,
when she grew up, got married in Israel,
expected her first child,
she developed severe kidney infections
that did not respond to any antibiotic.
Second pregnancy in '63,
the infection got so bad
that the Israeli doctor studied her,
and they found out that Miriam's kidneys
never grew larger than the size of a 10-year-old child's.
So I begged Miriam not to have any more children,
because every pregnancy was a life crisis.
But she had a third child,
and after the third child was born,
her kidneys deteriorated, started to deteriorate,
and by 1987, they failed.
At which time I donated my left kidney.
I had two kidneys and one sister,
so it was an easy choice.
But a year later, she developed
cancerous polyps in the bladder.
The doctors kept asking me to find our Auschwitz files.
We never found our files.
We never found out what was injected into our bodies,
and Miriam died June 6, 1993.
Months after Miriam died, I received a telephone call
from a professor at Boston,
who said he heard me speak and he would like me
to go to Boston and speak.
And when I came there, it would be nice
if I could bring a Nazi doctor.
I was stunned at such a question,
and then I thought about it,
I remembered that the last project
that Miriam and I worked together
before she died was 1992.
It was a documentary done by a German television
about the Mengele twins, and in that documentary,
there was a Nazi doctor from Auschwitz.
And I figured if he was alive in '92,
he might be alive in '93.
So I got his telephone number, I called him
and invited him to Boston.
But he told me he was not willing to go to Boston.
But he was willing to meet with me at his house in Germany.
(dramatic music)
And I didn't plan to ask him any of these questions.
Suddenly, I am asking him, "You were in Auschwitz.
"Did you ever walk by a gas chamber?
"Did you ever go inside the gas chamber?
"Do you know how the gas chamber operated?"
He said, "Mm-hm, mm-hm."
He said, "This is the nightmare
"that I live with every single day of my life."
And went on describing the operation of the gas chamber.
He was stationed outside, looking through a peephole
while the gas was coming down and people were dying.
When everybody was dead, and nobody moved,
he knew that they were dead,
and he signed one death certificate.
No names, just the number of people that were murdered.
And I ask him to go with me to Auschwitz in 1995,
when we would observe 50 years
since the liberation of the camp.
Because I wanted him to sign a document,
just what he told me, but I wanted it signed
at the ruins of the gas chamber in Auschwitz.
And he agreed immediately.
I will have an original document
signed by a Nazi.
And if I ever met a revisionist
who said the Holocaust didn't happen,
I could take that document and shove it in their face.
I wanted to thank this Nazi doctor
for his willingness to document the gas chamber operation.
I didn't know how to thank a Nazi.
I didn't tell anybody about it,
because even to me, it sounded strange.
I didn't want anybody to change my mind.
After 10 months, one morning I woke up.
And the following simple idea popped into my head.
How about a letter of forgiveness
from me to Dr. Munch?
I knew immediately that he would like it,
and that was a meaningful gift.
A Auschwitz survivor gives him a letter of forgiveness,
to a Nazi doctor.
But what I discovered for myself was life-changing.
I discovered that I had the power to forgive.
No one could give me that power,
no one could take it away.
It was all mine to use in any way I wished.
And that became an interesting thing,
because as a victim of almost 50 years,
I never thought that I had any power over my life.
Now I began writing a letter,
and I didn't know how to write a letter of forgiveness.
And it took me four months to write it.
And then I thought somebody might read it,
and my diction in English is good,
my spelling is not.
So I wanted my former English professor
to correct my spelling, so I called her.
We met three times.
And third time, she said to me, "Now, Eva, very nice.
"You forgive this Dr. Munch.
"Your problem is not with Dr. Munch.
"Your problem is with Dr. Mengele."
I was not quite ready to forgive Mengele.
She said to me, "Okay.
"I have been meeting with you, correcting your letters.
"Now I want you to do me a favor.
"When you go home tonight, pretend
"that Mengele is in the room,
"and you are telling him that you forgive him.
"'Cause I want to find out how would it make you feel
"if you could do that."
Interesting idea, I thought.
And when I got home, actually, I did something else.
I picked up a dictionary and wrote down 20 nasty words,
which I read clear and loud
to that make-believe Mengele in the room.
And at the end I said, "In spite of all that,
"I forgive you."
Made me feel very good.
That I, the little guinea pig of 50 years,
even had the power
over the Angel of Death of Auschwitz.
So that is the way we arrived in Auschwitz.
Dr. Munch came with his son, daughter, and granddaughter.
I took my son and my daughter.
I read my declaration of amnesty,
which is a very good little document.
And I signed it.
Dr. Munch signed his document.
I felt free, free from Auschwitz,
free from Mengele.
So now that I have forgiven him,
I knew that most of the survivors
denounced me, and they denounce me today also.
But what is my forgiveness?
I like it.
It is an act of self-healing,
self-liberation, self-empowerment.
All victims all hurt,
feel hopeless, feel helpless, feel powerless.
I want everybody to remember
that we cannot change what happened.
That is the tragic part.
But we can change how we relate to it.
(gentle piano music)

Learn to Read: The Letter B (Lesson 2) - Duration: 4:57.
Hi!
I'm Miss Kris.
Welcome to reading with Miss Kris.
I'm sitting here in front of my bookshelf.
Some of my favorite books are on this shelf.
This is one of my favorites.
Today I'm going to talk about
something that will help you learn to read.
We're going to learn the sound that one of the
26 letters in the alphabet makes.
We're going to learn about the letter B.
The letter B says /b/.
/b/ /b/ /b/
Can you say that?
Can you feel what your lips do when you say /b/?
/b/ /b/ /b/ /b/
They pop open.
Can you feel what your throat does when you say /b/? /b/ /b/
It vibrates.
So it pops and it vibrates.
We have a capital B and a lowercase B.
A big B and little B. And B says /b/.
Can you trace the letter B with me?
You can just reach up towards the screen
and trace in the air, and I'll trace right here.
B says /b/. B says /b/.
There's a lot of words around your house that start with the letter B.
I have one on my finger.
A /b/ /b/ bandage.
If you /b/ /b/ bleed, it's good to put on a /b/ /b/ bandage.
You might have a /b/ /b/ ball.
I have a big ball and a really little ball.
/b/ /b/ Ball.
You might have a /b/ /b/ battery in some of your toys.
You might build with /b/ /b/ blocks.
And you might have seen a... Wait
This doesn't start with the letter B.
This is a caterpillar. /c/
hmm But if I zip it open,
I have a /b/ /b/ butterfly.
That reminds me of another word that starts with the letter B.
Butter
And I have a tongue twister about a woman
named Betty who bought some butter.
Lots of B's.
Betty Botter bought some butter,
but she said the butter's bitter.
If I put it in my batter, that will make my batter bitter.
So she bought a bit of butter
better than her bitter butter
and she put it in her batter
and her batter was not bitter.
So it was better Betty Botter bought a bit of better butter.
If I say it slower maybe you can say it with me.
I'll give you time in between lines.
Betty Botter bought some butter
but she said the butter's bitter.
If I put it in my batter
that will make my batter bitter.
So she bought a bit of butter
better than her bitter butter.
And she put it in her batter
and her batter was not bitter.
So it was better Betty Botter bought a bit of better butter.
Maybe if you listen to that again
then you could say it with me faster.
Betty Botter bought some butter
but she said the butter's bitter.
If I put it in my batter, that will make my batter bitter.
So she bought a bit of butter better than her bitter butter
and she put it in her batter and her batter was not bitter.
So it was better Betty Botter bought a bit of better butter.
So the letter B...
B says /b/.
B says /b/.
I'll see you next time.
And I have one more B word for you.
Bye!

Bye!

How to Pick out a Curly Girl Method Conditioner - Duration: 4:18.
When I first started the curly girl method, I had no idea how to tell which
ingredients were good or bad in a conditioner I was interested in. Maybe
you're having the same problem. Well today's the day I'm gonna help you solve
this. That's coming up next so don't go anywhere.
whoo! Hi, how you doing? I'm Sandy. This channel is all about helping you embrace
your natural waves, teach you proper hair care and help you get rid of
that frizz. Pssst! Over here!
When shopping for a curly girl method conditioner, there's a
couple of things you want to look for. Really quick I do want to say that this
information is coming at you straight out of Lorraine Massey's Curly
Girl The Handbook, so you know I'm not just making it up. It's in here! Okay, so
the first thing she talks about is looking for either a conditioner that's silicone
free or using a botanical conditioner. A botanical conditioner is a conditioner
that has a very high concentration of plant-based ingredients and you're not
getting all that gunky gross stuff in your hair. A lot of times, botanical
conditioners add extra moisture into your hair and they protect it from any
damage like sun damage or anything like that. The second type of conditioner you
can use is one that's silicone free. If you're interested in learning more about
silicones and why these are bad for your hair, then watch my video right here. If
the conditioner that you're looking for or thinking about purchasing doesn't
contain humectants, emollients, moisturizers don't buy it, you're just
not going to benefit from it or your hair is not going to either. So what is
it an emollient? An emollient is something that softens your hair and makes it frizz
free. It helps promote your hair cuticle to be flattened down so the frizz goes
away. Examples of these are vegetable oil, shea butter, olive oil, jojoba oil, argan
oil, walnut oil, you want to look for a conditioner that has a lot of these
natural emollients to help promote healthy shiny, frizz free, soft hair naturally.
Find something that has natural emollients in it and good oils. The second
thing you want to look for in a conditioner is humectants. What is a
humectant? all a humectant does is it absorbs water from the air and allows
your hair to hold on to it. This is good because if your hair
needs moisture then it's going to be able to retain it a lot better if you're
using a conditioner with a humectant. Some examples of humectants are
panthenol, vegetable glycerin or sorbitol and propylene glycol.
I probably botched that up completely. The most important thing that you want
to look for in a conditioner is a moisturizer. This is essential to wavy
hair. This is going to add softness and help you just control your waves help
you control the frizz. Some things you want to look for in a conditioner are
amino acids, olive oil, aloe vera, maybe there's some mint extracts in there and
anything else that sounds moisturizing to you. If you don't know what it is I
would encourage you to google it or Yahoo it. Everybody has Google.
Of course the main thing you want to avoid in conditioners is silicones. As you know
by now silicones are very bad for your hair, especially if you have wavy hair
and you want to completely avoid this altogether.
I know that this can be very confusing and maybe you're not sure what exactly
to look for I'll put a couple affordable product recommendations right down below.
If you don't have Curly Girl The Handbook by Lauren Massey, I really
really encourage you to get it, it is very amazing. It has helped me get the
hair that I have today. If you're interested in learning about how to
start the curly girl method then click on the link right here. You'll hear all
about my journey and how to start it from beginning to end, what to buy, what
it is. It's really gonna help you educate yourself on how to embrace your
natural waves. I just started doing this 2 to 3 months ago, it's really really
helped me a lot. Thank you so much for watching, leave any questions or comments
right down below. Also if you have any video suggestions of something maybe
you're struggling with, leave that in the comment box down below. Don't forget to
subscribe if you have wavy hair and you want to get tips on how to keep it frizz
free and learn how to embrace your natural waves. I'll see you next time, Bye
