we had our little folder full of all of our apartment's we're looking at and we
were gonna sign a lease for a year and now we've totally changed our mind ever
we might buy a Sprinter van
fast forward a couple days and we got the van give it a good cleaner about the
panel's and she's ready for installation the 3m insulation big roll of reflectix
basically what we're doing is just spraying and tacking on and we've really
shoved it into the corners and just done our best job to hide all exposed metal
we've just run basically it underneath the floor this is all 12 gauge so we've
got our DC water pump our DC refrigerator. There will be an AC outlet here and
an AC outlet going here and everything leads down to here which will be battery
bank central reflectix liner complete
today we are installing the fantastic fan I think it's like day three and
today we've finished all the studs
so that's what I'm talking about beautiful morning! so the headliner was
just made out of wood and I kept it very light weight and I framed it with just
some strapping so my next task for today is I'm kind of starting to do the
countertop
I'm on insulating the ceiling duty. Bought this tape at Home Depot it's like
sealant tape or whatever we just got back from Home Depot we picked up some
tongue-and-groove pine and decided that we are moving forward with just
drilling right into the ribs of the van okay the old man showed up to help us
with the ceiling here "hi everybody" we're gonna get the first board in
center and then we're gonna build it out from there first two pieces we're
starting to work on the LEDs here. it's a two inch hole every 32 inches
there she is that's the tricky part that fan looks absolutely beauty really
excited with how the whitewash turned out so we're just gonna go check out the
last cut
that will go there. pretty stoked on that
see the faucets coming tomorrow another beautiful day
I got the whole day to work on the van as for the cabinet design I kept it very
similar to what we did in the kitchen this time I actually removed the top
board and now we're going to do the door so I really like this design that we did
here it worked really well these hinges were a little bit pricey but they're
pretty impressive so if I hold that thing pulley up so you just lift it and I
this is tongue and groove probably going to piece together then cut out that shape and
mount it on there
It's tile day!
Wow we're flying that's 4 rows of tile yeah I know it's going up real quick okay
guys we're on to wall number two look look at the first of all this is so
brutal this is definitely not the way to do it we've done a tiny section here and we're
just trying to read what to do next the excess grout from the tile surface
shape joints to be full and smooth oh here we go yeah if it doesn't look
pretty over there but just wipe it off afterwards and you get a nice clean
detailed finish little afternoon bed frame session this section over here will slide in so
we're spacing it evenly okay I'll show them these boards will slide in like
that do a situation right now van's pretty dusty but hey would you look at
that structure so this is something I built last night but my camera was dead which
is classic this is just a box a very structurally sound box your bed slides
which I think I showed you in the last shot slide out and will rest along
there
awesome huge drawer that's 24 inches width and I think I've
got about 34 height we are starting to work on the kitchen the under kitchen the
under kitchen the under the counter took me a few tries to get the you know the
right fit but overall pretty happy with the way it came out
I've just been firing holes in our bloody new counter so far this
one's worked out nice we are now working on the leaning structure that goes
beside the bed the last compartment section let's see
it is Sunday May something beginning of May I think it's the 6th or
7th or 8th or something like that
just made this nice face for the drawer we're
gonna have a handle here so we're gonna pull that out and it comes all the way
out as you can see we we decided to go with 2-95 amp our 12-volt batteries we've
got a 2000 watt inverter MPPT charge controller and display the battery box
is coming along starting to take shape there and it's pretty
solid eh Bob what do you say? "rock-solid"
the inverter is in the batteries are
mounted we actually ended up this working really well is cutting this kind
of black stuff out cuz it gave us the exact clearance we need we've got an
absolute beauty day today today is like the 24 we've been working on the van
it's a nice solid piece of pine for the top there it's been notched out so the
bed still slides in into the groove and I just roughly stand to the edges so
they weren't sharp what did i do today I built this cool little box that's
gonna be doubled as a toilet as well as a garbage well mainly a garbage and
then an emergency toilet I also got this piece done I'm really happy with it I
just got to paint that up it's gonna be a little ventilation maybe a screen on
the inside there oh these drawers you gotta get pretty technical with them
you know if you're off by even a eighth of an inch we're gonna run into issues
sometimes I think you guys are going to think we did this build in one day because
we're always wearing the same thing
these are custom brackets for the Vitamix blender they're just going to
support along the two cabinets we got 2 of them to hold it up and then we're
drilling right into the bottom of the Vitamix
we have successful not we I can't pretend I did anything we've installed
this beauty hold for the Vitamix here trying to get these drawers done using a
quarter inch plywood with some of this one and a half inch MDF just to trim it
nicely we've got one here that guy's gonna go on there
paint day here we are at the shop
I'm painting the under the sink cupboard drawers everything's white
this is hopefully the last week of the build we are coming along nicely and I
wanted to show you guys the plumbing situation
so this is our gray water tank and super easy to change out because you can just
literally pull that unclip it slide the whole thing out and this is our
freshwater tank so we've five gallons of fresh five
gallons of gray and then two extra five gallons in the little cubby there
we tried to use recycled wood as much as possible I told my dad I've
been looking for something to use as the table so he just bounced this piece here
it's gonna work perfect
wood's lookin nice we planed we sanded we went down to 220 grit so it's got a
nice smooth finish still rustic I'm gonna leave it natural so I'm just using
these these are actually spring T hinges I think it's for it gate I'm very
excited about this guy's nice finish we just use like a gate latch there and it
works really well just pop that open now fold down we got very thin vinyl floor
and to start the process we've just cleaned the whole area give it a good
vacuum
this guy's looking like a pro and the key to laying a floor is obviously
quarter round that just cleans it up real nice so we're just discussing whether we're
gonna have a pizza party and stay and work all night because
someone's a work-aholic
it's there so to actually mount the panel I'm just using self-tapping screws
and I'm going right in this is easier because I've got the angle
into the two side so the side of this angle iron and the side of the solar panel
today is Monday
we're working on the power so I've got the batteries hooked up we got the charge
controller producing power we've got our display with a happy face we just
got our mattress sorted and wanted to show you guys what we're doing here
there's a place up the road that sells mattresses and we actually just got a
few off cuts which worked out perfect so it looks like in couch mode and I just
want to show them the slats so you just lift that up the whole thing slides away
just like that and then why don't you show off the hallway buddy that's not the hallway
