Youtube daily report Oct 8 2018

Hey guys, it's CDTV here and ya boi is back again to bring you another episode of Best

Verses, this time yeah its on uh 6IX9INE.

It really is.

I'm not gonna outright call him a bad rapper because that's unnecessary in this video

and clearly a lot of people bump his music regularly, but let's just say this is gonna

be a short one.

There isn't really much else that needs to be said, let's jump right into looking

at 6IX9INE's strongest verses in my opinion.

BILLY (Verse 1):

I always point to this as pretty much my favourite 6IX9INE song out there, and it's because

I feel this is the most genuinely energetic song that he's made.

Those dramatic sounding strings on the instrumental mix perfectly with his loud, forceful delivery

to make this verse very punchy.

And honestly, there's a couple of bars here that I think make for nice wordplay, with

this line referencing the basketball player Ibaka, who, you guessed it, has a number 9

on his jersey, and the following line immediately referencing the rapper, Baka Not Nice, whilst

also imitating the sound a gun makes when he says Baka, I think it's kinda clever.

Sure, most of the verse is comprised of him talking about making women gushy gushy, but

at least he flows that part nicely.

It's honestly not a bad verse if you just tune out the last 20 seconds worth of lyrics.

DOOWEE (Verse 1):

Now remember, I'm not saying this verse is absolutely amazing, but i still think it's

one of 6IX9INE's better ones as he uses a flow here that we rarely ever hear him use.

That's what makes this one stand out to me.

He uses this non stop flow for a decent amount of time during this verse, and it's kind

of interesting to hear him use that cadence whilst still shouting.

This also happens as the drums drop out for a second which really puts an emphasis on

the flow switch.

It's just good to hear him ride pretty smoothly over an instrumental as he does on this track.

He also compares the length of his guns clip to an abnormally large d*** so that's um,

pretty entertaining too.

GIGI (Verse 1):

This is actually one of the very few songs where 6IX9INE uses a delivery much closer

to his regular voice that I enjoy.

You see, a lot of his old songs have him using his regular voice, and I don't like most

of those cause they just sound pretty boring.

I prefer him shouting honestly.

But here, I don't know exactly what it is, but his normal voice actually works really

well.

Maybe its the fact that he mixes it with shouting ad libs at the end of each line, and that

stops things from getting stale, but whatever it is, this verse sounds a little different

to most of his other tracks in a good way.

Unfortunately I'm not a fan of Gringo's verse, the other rapper on this song, so I

just kinda skip it after 6IX9INE's verse each time, but I'm just happy that we got

a fairly enjoyable verse on this one.

93 (Verse 1):

I really do not have much to say about this one, it's basically on here for the exact

same reason as DOOWEE.

It's just good to hear 6IX9INE make a bit more of an attempt to make his flow a little

more interesting, and this one actually has a fairly decent rhyme scheme too.

The beat is a little bit abrasive, but it has grown on me because it's a sound that

honestly compliments 6IX9INE's vocals.

Not one of my favourite songs from him overall, but I think this is a cool verse.

INTERNATIONAL GANGSTAS (Verse 1):

Here's another collaboration 6IX9INE has done with foreign rappers, just like the song

GiGi which I included earlier in this video, with him working with artists from Germany

and France this time.

This is another one of those verses where I feel like 6IX9INE put a little bit more

work into the lyrics and wordplay, and it results in a verse that I find a bit more

entertaining to listen to.

"All these pipes in my trunk like I'm plumbing" is a decent line, and he has similar

lines scattered throughout this entire verse.

It was just nice to see him consistently go for metaphors and similes on here rather than

just throwing one or two in like he usually does.

He also switches up his cadence 3 or 4 times here, which again is more than usual.

I just feel like he tried to step things up a bit more here in all fronts, and I like

it.

TIA: On his latest album, 'Kamikaze,' Eminem brings us "Venom," the theme song

for Marvel's film of the same name.

MAN: What the hell are you?

VENOM: We are Venom.

TIA: The track was produced by Eminem himself along with Luis Resto, and it's filled with

metaphors and classic wordplay.

TIA: In the film, Tom Hardy plays Eddie Brock, a journalist whose body is taken over by Venom,

an anti-hero from the Marvel universe.

TIA: Here, Eminem makes another direct reference to the movie, and the alien symbiote that

takes over Eddie Brock's body.

TIA: The music video for the track also includes themes from the movie.

TIA: We see people possessed by an Eminem-like being similar to the one in the "Venom."

TIA: And at one point, Eminem puts his hand up kinda like MGK in the cover art for his

"Rap Devil" diss track.

TIA: Here, Em makes a reference to Atlanta rapper Yung Joc and his early 2000s hit,

"It's Goin Down."

TIA: And the 2002 soundtrack hit of his own, "Lose Yourself" from '8 Mile.'

TIA: Here, Em talks about his early days in the game and when he first met and got that

life-changing co-sign from Dr. Dre.

TIA: He also shouts out former D12 member Bizarre, his late best friend, Proof,

and a little wordplay to mention the producer Mel-Man, who co-made classics like Dr. Dre's

'Chronic 2001.'

TIA: And speaking of young Eminem, one line in "Venom" seems to be a calback to

the title track of his first album, 'Infinite.'

TIA: Eminem is open about his love of superheroes.

TIA: We even saw him dress up in the music video for his 2002 track, "Without Me."

TIA: And as for 'Venom,' the film raked in over $80 million at the U.S. box office.

TIA: And the song is currently at #1 on Genius' Top Songs chart.

Your fingerprints reveal more than you think | Simona Francese - Duration: 10:06.

Do you ever stop and think, during a romantic dinner,

"I've just left my fingerprints all over my wine glass."

(Laughter)

Or do you ever worry, when you visit a friend,

about leaving a little piece of you behind on every surface that you touch?

And even this evening,

have you paid any attention to sit without touching anything?

Well, you're not alone.

Thankfully, criminals underestimate the power of fingerprints, too.

And I'm not just talking about the twisted parting of lines

that make our fingerprint unique.

I'm talking about an entire world of information

hiding in a small, often invisible thing.

In fact, fingerprints are made up of molecules

that belong to three classes:

sweat molecules that we all produce in very different amounts ...

molecules that we introduce into our body and then we sweat out

and molecules that we may contaminate our fingertips with

when we come across substances like blood, paint, grease,

but also invisible substances.

And molecules are the storytellers of who we are

and what we've been up to.

We just need to have the right technology to make them talk.

So let me take you on a journey of unthinkable capabilities.

Katie has been raped

and her lifeless body has been found in the woods three days later,

after her disappearance.

The police is targeting three suspects,

having narrowed down the search from over 20 men

who had been seen in that area on the same day.

The only piece of evidence

is two very faint, overlapping fingerprints

on the tape that was found wrapped around Katie's neck.

Often, faint and overlapping fingerprints cannot help the police

to make an identification.

And until recently, this might have been the end of the road,

but this is where we can make the difference.

The tape is sent to our labs,

where we're asked to use our cutting-edge technology

to help with the investigation.

And here, we use an existing form

of mass spectrometry imaging technology

that we have further developed and adapted

specifically for the molecular and imaging analysis of fingerprints.

In essence, we fire a UV laser at the print,

and we cause the desorption of the molecules from the print,

ready to be captured by the mass spectrometer.

Mass spectrometry measures the weight of the molecules --

or as we say, the mass --

and those numbers that you see there, they indicate that mass.

But more crucially,

they indicate who those molecules are --

whether I'm seeing paracetamol

or something more sinister, forensically speaking.

We applied this technology to the evidence that we have

and we found the presence of condom lubricants.

In fact, we've developed protocols that enable us to even suggest

what brand of condom might have been used.

So we pass this information to the police,

who, meanwhile, have obtained a search warrant

and they found the same brand of condom in Dalton's premises.

And with Dalton and Thomson also having records for sexual assaults,

then it is Chapman that may become the less likely suspect.

But is this information enough to make an arrest?

Of course not,

and we are asked to delve deeper with our investigation.

So we found out, also, the presence of other two very interesting molecules.

One is an antidepressant,

and one is a very special molecule.

It only forms in your body

if you drink alcohol and consume cocaine at the same time.

And alcohol is known to potentiate the effects of cocaine,

so here, we now have a hint on the state of mind

of the individual whilst perpetrating the crime.

We passed this information to the police,

and they found out that, actually, Thomson is a drug addict,

and he also has a medical record for psychotic episodes,

for which presumably the antidepressant was prescribed.

So now Thomson becomes the more likely suspect.

But the reality is that I still don't know where these molecules are coming from,

from which fingerprint,

and who those two fingerprints belong to.

Fear not.

Mass spectrometry imaging can help us further.

In fact, the technology is so powerful

that we can see where these molecules are on a fingerprint.

Like you see in this video,

every single one of those peaks corresponds to a mass,

every mass to a molecule,

and we can interrogate the software, by selecting each of those molecules,

as to where they are present on a fingermark.

And some images are not very revealing,

some are better,

some are really good.

And we can create multiple images of the same mark --

in theory, hundreds of images of the same fingerprint --

for as many of the molecules that we have detected.

So step one ...

for overlapping fingerprints, chances are,

especially if they come from different individuals,

that the molecular composition is not identical,

so let's ask the software to visualize those unique molecules

just present in one fingermark and not in the other one.

By doing so,

that's how we can separate the two ridge patterns.

And this is really important

because the police now are able to identify one of the two fingerprints,

which actually corresponds to Katie.

And they've been able to say so

because they've compared the two separate images

with one taken posthumously from Katie.

So now, we can concentrate on one fingerprint only --

that of the killer's.

So then, step two ...

where are these three molecules that I've seen?

Well, let's interrogate the software -- show me where they are.

And by doing this,

only portions of the image of the killer's fingerprint show up.

In other words,

those substances are only present in the killer's print.

So now our molecular findings start matching very nicely

the police intelligence about Thomson,

should that fingerprint belong to him.

But the reality is that that print is still not good enough

to make an identification.

Step three:

since we can generate hundreds of images of the same fingerprint,

why don't we superimpose them,

and by doing so,

try to improve the rich pattern of continuity and clarity?

That's the result.

Striking.

We now have a very clear image of the fingerprint

and the police can run it through the database.

The match comes out to Thomson.

Thomson is our killer.

(Applause)

Katie, the suspects and the circumstances of the crime aren't real,

but the story contains elements

of the real police casework we've been confronted with,

and is a composite of the intelligence that we can provide --

that we have been able to provide the police.

And I'm really, really thrilled that after nine years of intense research,

as of 2017,

we are able to contribute to police investigations.

Mine is no longer a dream;

it's a goal.

We're going to do this wider and wider,

bigger and bigger,

and we're going to know more about the suspect,

and we're going to build an identikit.

I believe this is also a new era for criminal profiling.

The work of the criminologist

draws on the expert recognition of behavioral patterns

that have been observed before to belong to a certain type,

to a certain profile.

As opposed to this expert but subjective evaluation,

we're trying to do the same thing,

but from the molecular makeup of the fingerprint,

and the two can work together.

I did say that molecules are storytellers,

so information on your health,

your actions, your lifestyle, your routines,

they're all there,

accessible in a fingerprint.

And molecules are the storytellers of our secrets

in just a touch.

Thank you.

(Audience) Wow.

(Applause)

Fallout 76: The best and worst things from 3 hours of gameplay - Duration: 15:10.

Hey everyone, Russ Frushtick here and I am talking to

senior reporter Owen. Good,

who just spent three hours playing Fallout 76.

One of the things that has been kind of confusing to people—

the leveling system seems like a big

change from traditional Fallout. Can you kinda walk us through it?

Yeah. I didn't get to see too much of the

leveling system because I only went up to level five and you can go,

you know, multiple,

tens high. But this is all based on a card system

and a perk system now. Now you will still level up the,

uh, traditional,

uh, seven categories of your SPECIAL,

which everybody remembers.

But you're going to start at ones across the board.

You're not going to spec your character at creation,

which is what I think some people expect of a traditional Fallout game.

And, and from there,

as you level up, you know,

you can pick a SPECIAL to increase, you will get the attendant benefit to

it, whether that's carrying capacity or

accuracy or whatever. And then you're going to get access to

perk cards that you can equip to your SPECIAL.

And this is where it gets a little complicated because the number of cards

you can put on a specific SPECIAL category is equivalent to,

you know, what number that is.

So if you're like a four in Perception, you can take four cards that are

Perception-based and lay it out there or you can take 2 that are ranked up to

level two, which we'll get into more in a second,

I guess, and put it there.

So you kind of have to see it in action to make your choices at the outset to

sort of really understand, okay,

what's my strategy for building my character here?

One thing that they were very clear on telling us is when you,

when you hit the level up and you choose which part of your special to increase

the perk card that you take after that

does not have to be correspondent to that category.

So you know, what you can do for example,

is say you've already got duplicates

of a perk card, and you want to increase endurance to

take advantage of that. So you put one on endurance,

you upgrade your perk card, but then you take a perk card in another

category because you know, you just want a new card and see how you

can play it. So there's a little bit of mix and match

you can enable and disable perk cards at will,

um, you know,

by going into the menu for the, for the character.

So let's say you were building a sniper type character so you had a bunch of

perk cards that enhanced sniping, but then you decided oh, I'm going to do

some melee attacks. Now you can deactivate the sniper

attacks and sniper cards and activate like strength building cards

essentially. And it's

adaptable in the sense that, you know,

you may have one vision for how you want to play,

but then you just get a bunch of cards that are very useful to another style

and you go might as well. Um, and I think it works for again a game that

is multiplayer in nature. Um,

whereas, you know,

if you've spec'd yourself at the beginning,

I mean I think a lot of people, I don't know,

they might, it might imbalance the game somehow.

I don't know. I think it's all better for people to

just sort of start up in rank up and go in the direction that they prefer to

play if they can and then take advantage of the perks.

Yeah, it is a pretty complex and as you said,

kind of hard to visualize without having played it yourself.

But I know Todd Howard has commented on it and it sounds like the idea is to

make these characters that aren't the Jack of all trades,

like I'm great at everything but more specialized in the traditional Fallout

sense. One of the perks that I was

particularly curious about that I know you had some questions about

was charisma, um,

how does that sort of manifest? Obviously strength is obvious and

endurance and stuff like that, but Charisma is kind of a tricky one.

Well, charisma,

they have the typical, or they have some of the typical perks that you may

have seen in past games, but I would say broadly speaking,

it's mostly about conferring your benefits or buffs to others in your

social group. But if you group up with,

you know, several other teammates and I believe

it's at once your charisma is three or better,

you can start to share and it's share any perk card.

It's not just your charisma cards of course,

but what you will see with the charisma perk cards is sort of a communal

benefit, say in accuracy,

or communal benefit in health or something like that.

So charisma is less about dialogue options because this is,

I'm sure we'll talk about, you know,

there are no human npcs in this. Um,

so it's less about what people remember, which is hey,

there are different dialogue options if you have a high enough charisma and it's

more about being social with other human players that you play with.

Right. It's more of like a bard role in like

the traditional DND sense, like you're giving these passive buffs to everyone.

I would say that's a good comparison. You talked about the NPC thing.

to everyone. Yeah,

I know a lot of people have talked about the fact that there are no human npcs—

For those who, who haven't been following what's been

said about the game so far, you will still have mission givers.

You, you will still have quests,

but these are going to be — They're going to take place through

your overseers log. In the story.

things like, you know,

your overseer has left the vault ahead of you and you were following her out

into the world on the larger story-based mission.

And so you'll find holotapes for her. But you'll find holotapes for other

people who live out in the world and these may have,

you know, quests associated with them.

You're gonna run into a lot of robots. Who,

I mean, an example of one that I ran into was I ended up at

an army installation and there was still a,

a drill sergeant type robot there who wanted to put me through basic training.

So I said, sure.

And, you know,

tried to do three of these obstacle courses.

It, that's an example of this,

I think where it is a little bit jarring is at the beginning,

you know, you wake up in Vault 76 and

technically you're alone. It's like where did everybody go?

You might see a bunch of people hanging out in the lobby area as they're

beginning the game and sort of understanding because a little bit of an

onboarding that goes on in Vault 76 and then you get out into the world

and there're all these people sort of running around doing their own things

near the vault. Um,

I think one thing that, that Fallout,

you know, really delivered a lot of it as the

traditional rpg was that sense of isolation of you against the world.

Um, and so,

you know, if you see somebody that could be dangerous, well

what they wanted to, what Bethesda game studios wants to do

here is if you see somebody who is human, you know that that is a human player.

And I get the value there. But it's also the question is,

you know, does that person want to play with me?

Do I want to play with them? I mean less so even about griefing,

which of course is on everybody's mind, but it's just like,

you know, would I prefer to really be a rugged

individualist in this, which is something that Fallout really

serves or do I want to play it with friends.

Um, and,

you know, if I don't want to and I see all these other people running around doing their own thing

how does that fit with me narratively in terms of the overall purpose of what my

character is doing out in Appalachia.

Sure, did you,

did you dive into the PVP mechanics at all?

Do you have any thoughts on that?

I did, um,

get into pvp just to see how it worked because I knew I would be the one who

was likely to die. Uh,

and, and I did.

I believe Famitsu killed me. Um,

but, uh,

it, it's,

it's somewhat confusing because you have something called pacifist mode which is

enabled until you reach level five, but you can turn it all off before then

if you choose. Now.

Pacifist mode isn't about what others can do to you.

It's about what you can do to them and it's about um,

it's basically no friendly fire if you are teamed with other human characters.

So you can't accidentally shoot, you know,

somebody on your team and of course as

they've explained already and it's tough to pick up.

If somebody shooting you and you don't want to be involved in Pvp,

they're only going to do like chip damage to you.

It's going to be until you return fire. It's just,

it would take a long time. I mean they can hassle you and I think

there is an option in there. I didn't see it,

but we were told, you know,

if somebody is just being a pain in the ass,

you can block them. But that's on an individual user level.

But to get back to the bigger sense of things,

what we're kind of troubled me a little bit about this,

about Pvp was: within VATS

it was still possible for me to end up targeting people I didn't want to shoot

who were human players either they were on my team or they were other humans in

the area that I didn't want to engage. And even if I'm not doing any damage or

killing them, taking them out of the game where it's an "oops, I'm sorry,"

I'm still wasting ammo. And Ammo is like anything else in this,

it's a resource that you really gotta be careful about.

You know, melee weapons figured a lot into my

early stage playthroughs just because you know,

those 38 rounds were so precious.

Yeah. And in terms of the,

like you talked about VATS briefly. Like obviously this is a multiplayer

game. You can't just slow down or stop the game to like decide, hey,

I want to do an arm shot for 39 percent chance to hit.

How does it feel differently now?

VATS, as you said,

it doesn't slow or stop time. What happens is it brings up the

familiar HUD of the target outlined and it's very useful for finding out where

someone is shooting at you. There's a lot of cover in Fallout 76 and

as they've mentioned, you know,

it's like, it's the first green fallout game

because it's set 20 years after the bombs fell there,

so a lot of foliage. So you can use VATS to like find somebody and go,

that person is shooting at me or that thing is shooting at me.

Um, and it costs action points to do so.

So you can't just spam it. Um,

but from there you cycle through body parts,

you know, by flicking left or right on your right

thumb stick. Um,

and at the outset some of those percentages were really low and I think

that may be attributable to just below perception that I had because I only got

up to level five.

It was easier for me in the early goings to just run and gun a headshot.

Um, and I think I cracked off a couple on

some super mutants in there, uh,

you know, it was like I would see in VATS,

you know, somebody's leaning over say the cornice

of the building and the headshot or you know,

the head body part percentage will be something like 58 and I would go, you know,

well, the hell with it, and just aim down sights and get the

same effect now on the fly. So there will be some users.

I think will see what I'm talking about when

they pick it up and it may be that this is just something that is only for the

early goings in is once it's your perception and your accuracy increases,

VATS becomes more useful. But it's definitely a different way to

do combat in Fallout 76.

Sure. Do you get the impression that VATS is

in there basically for people that aren't maybe super adept with like

aiming with a controller?

I mean, I can't speak to their intent,

but sure, that is a benefit if you are not,

you know, if you're,

if you're worried about this being a multiplayer shooter,

you know, like overwatch,

like call of duty, like you know,

the big names where you get shot up by teenagers and that's no fun.

I'm sure that VATS can provide a little bit of an edge to at least let you get

your licks in, especially if you're doing pvp.

Um, but I,

I think it might also just be a familiarity thing.

Like, you know,

this is Fallout. People expect VATS.

Um, and so they,

they've provided as best they can, a way to do that with multiplier.

Yeah, absolutely.

Uh, in terms of dealing with other people,

obviously it's not just pvp. You can also do trading with folks for

people that have played games like Destiny, trading is verboten.

Like there's just, it's just not an option.

A lot of the reason is because they don't want players at level one to just

like get the best gear. Did you sense any like limitations on

the trading systems in Fallout 76 or any reason why they've included it here and

whether it's sort of how it impacts the gameplay.

So when was trading, I was trading with

developers in the world we were in and they had a lot of high level stuff.

I was just more going for staple goods like ammunition.

Um, but there are,

there are level gates to certain items. So I think that addresses the question.

You can't just, you know,

somebody is a buddy and they've got, you know,

all kinds of good gear because they've been playing longer and they buff you up.

But you can, I mean it is,

it can just be a completely, you know,

donation thing, you can set the price to zero of

anything and you know, the person says thank you very much and

you know, that's just the same effect it's giving over.

So they encourage trading, there's a specific emote for it. saying you're willing to trade

and I think it's also sort of the scavenging mentality of going around the

wasteland who knows what you have that's useful to somebody else.

I mean obviously as you get into creating your camp and your base,

building up a workshop, that sort of thing.

You know, raw materials become very important to

the infrastructure and especially to crafting.

Yeah, absolutely.

I think the biggest question just to close this out,

is for people that are fans of Fallout, the addition of multiplayer,

the lack of human npcs, do you feel like this is too far beyond

like apart from what a Fallout game is or do you think this feels like Fallout

DNA with like some new stuff added in?

Um, I think,

I hate to be wishy washy about it, but I mean I think it's a time will tell sort of thing.

I can't make that judgment even off of three hours of play,

especially as frenetic as it was because it wasn't just the three other people in

my team. It was everybody else in the room,

about four dozen folks runnning around

as I really respond to it, you know,

yes, I'm excited to play it because it's more

Fallout and I'm a big Fallout fan and it will have a main quest line and some

things that, you know,

I identify with, if you know,

the, the big payoffs of playing Fallout,

what makes me feel good about it, but it is going to be a different thing.

It's not going to be the kind of role playing game that people usually

see from Bethesda game studios like Skyrim or like a Fallout 4.

It is definitely Fallout with friends and there are a lot of things that are geared toward that.

So as you get more the, I think the direction where you will get

more out of it is that you play it with other people even though you can solo

it, they're very careful to say you can go through this whole thing by yourself

you know, Pete Hines was saying that's the way he prefers to play it.

I'm just going to have to play it by myself for a lot longer before I get a

sense of okay, where does this really fit in with New Vegas, with 3,

with 4 — the things that I have really enjoyed playing the most,

um, as,

as far as its appeal.

Well, I thank you so much for taking the time

Owen, I really appreciate it. Thank you very much for having me.

The Champions

I'm Paul and I know how to make headlines

I've scored more times in Manchester than Noel Gallagher

Bayern Munich Oktoberfest

Ooh

They have a chocolate fountain...just like home!

As your captain, I say NEIN!

He has a chocolate fountain... in his home?

Yes, I'm from Hershey

It's weird there

So every year, Bayern zey throw zis party

and act like zey are just cool fun guys

But really, ze whole thing

is just a ploy to poach ze best young players

from ze other Bundesliga teams

Marco's a vee bit sensitive about zis

because he's lost many Dortmund friends over ze years

Lewandowski

And of course

What can I say?

I was young, and I needed to Pep my cherry

Hey, have you guys seen my lederhosen?

Ow

Heja BVB!

Wow! Zer's like twice as many people at zis party

Do you see him anywhere?

If I were American, where would I be?

Aha!

At the weisswurst breakfast sausage station

after breakfast time!

Hurensöhne!

Zer he is. Let's go...TZE!

So yeah...it's my new bar

The Flying Dutchman

We're having an after-party there

You should come

We don't go to DIVE bars!

So what's, like, your favorite thing about the Bundesliga?

If I'm being honest

I don't really consider us in ze Bundesliga

Yeah...we're sort of like PSG in Ligue 1

or Justin Timberlake in NSYNC…

Let's just say if ze Bundesliga is Baywatch

we're David Hasselhoff

He doesn't know David Hasselhoff. You know why?

Because he's ONLY 20 YEARS OLD, YOU BAVARIAN CREEPS!

Raumdeuter

Are you OK?

No! I just need some space.

Just please give me some space to interpret!

You can't be talking to zem

Zey are all jerks!

You're not my dad

You're just bitter because they never wanted you

How dare you

Fine. You want him?

€70 million, and he's yours

Wait, what?

ALL HANDS ON DECK as we Make our Way to the USA. Ep.162 - Duration: 16:03.

- Come on!

- Elayna glorious!

- [Elayna] Well this is more like a small island.

- Perfect absolutely perfect.

(Elayna gasping and laughing)

- Strawberry?

(upbeat music)

- [Elayna] Last week we had a bit of trouble checking into

the Bahamas here in Staniel Cay.

- [Riley] Well you can't check in there.

- [Elayna] We tried.

- I'm stoked.

- [Elayna] After a quick stop over and a sail across

coral head ridden bank we made it to Nassau

so we can do just that.

And then a close call with a small bridge

got our hearts pumping.

Oh no, it's hardly a tail.

We just stuck the boat in reverse.

- We had a bit of a look out and we were both like nah.

Not gonna risk it.

- [Elayna] We anchored La Vagabonde on the north west side

of the island and headed into land.

We just hopped into a taxi and we are on our way

to the customs building.

Left the dinghy tied off to the jetty

so hopefully she's alright.

- I'm still wildly confused about all this marina business.

I thought that was gonna be our ace in the hole.

A way to expedite this process.

- But hopefully this is quick.

And we got to anchor which is way better.

- I wouldn't hold my breath. (Elayna laughs)

- [Elayna] Alright can you tell me about customs?

What's happened?

- Whatever you do if you come here just go to a marina.

No one just understands that you might not wanna do that.

- [Elayna] Captain grumpy. I had to jump in here to say

that this is in fact all Riley's fault by not following

the correct procedure to checking into customs.

Half of the time when he tries to do things his own way

it saved us hours and even days of unnecessary work,

hassle and bureaucratic nonsense, but the other half

he just complains there is ridiculous rules and measures

we have to go to sail in and out of the country.

Oh Riles.

- Sorry

Go into a marina and check in.

We gotta taxi all the way to customs

and they said oh no what are you doing here.

- [Elayna] you need to check in with your boat in a marina.

- What do you want them to swim out to your boat?

And I was like no I don't want them

to swim out to my boat but they are more than welcome to.

Its just around here so it's not too bad.

- So lost our Q flag

(classical music)

I'm pretty scared of customs here,

just because of our experience at the Immigration building.

So I've decided that I'm gonna make a Q flag

(laughing) out of paper and sticky notes.

This is just a page out of my journal.

And I'm going to just stick some sticky notes to the paper,

try and get it up the mast.

So that will be interesting hopefully they don't notice.

Oh no I'm out.

It's going to be a one sided yellow flag.

There you have it guys I'm pretty good.

- [Voice On Radio] The name of the boat.

The name of the boat.

- La Vagabonde.

(garbled voice on radio)

(garbled voice on radio)

- [Elayna] What are you gonna do cap?

(Riley whistling)

(indistinct chattering)

- Well that was really quick and easy

and not what I expected.

We did it!

- We're not crazy about men with guns again.

That's not how you greet people into your country,

I don't reckon.

- But anyway enough complaining we've done it.

We are gonna go get some food for the boat finally.

And we are heading off.

(saxophone tooting)

And we are off.

Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah.

They didn't even care about the yellow flag,

I'm really disappointed.

I wanted to see what they'd say or if they even notice.

They didn't even have a look at the boat so.

Hey, I wanted to tell you guys

that converted the feet to metres

with that bridge yesterday, and we found out that the bridge

was 20 metres so we would have wiped off

the top of our antennas at the top so I'm really glad

we didn't go under that bridge.

Signs You're In A Great Chinese Restaurant - Duration: 4:55.

As with most world cuisine, if you're looking for quality, then you're looking for authenticity.

We can't make any promises, of course, but if the restaurant you're in hits these marks,

then it's got a decent chance of being a tasty and authentic Chinese restaurant.

Location, location, location!

Location is everything.

A Chinese restaurant sitting in the middle of your city's Indian neighbourhood isn't

going to inspire confidence, and neither is one that's on the side of a highway in the

middle of nowhere.

But if that restaurant is situated in the heart of the Chinese community, there's a

fair bet that the owners and staff are going to constitute a part of that community.

Certain regions in the U.S. like New York City and parts of California have a very high

concentration of Chinese immigrants, so they're a good place to start.

Within your town or city, look for the residential Chinese neighborhoods and see if you can find

a place nearby.

Beware, however, of Chinatowns: they're meant to bring in tourists, and that's hardly an

indicator of quality grub.

Spice up your life

It may sound weird, but if your Chinese restaurant is, well, a "Chinese restaurant," it's probably

not going to serve the best Chinese food.

China itself is made up of eight culinary regions: Cantonese, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, which

are known for their light, sweet dishes; Sichuan, which does spicy food better than anyone else;

Hunan, which goes for spicy and sour recipes; Anhui and Fujian, which utilize mountain ingredients

in their dishes; and Shandong, which specializes in seafood.

Find a restaurant that uses one of those regional labels instead of throwing all its food under

a general "Chinese" umbrella, and it's likely you've found a place where the chefs know

what they're doing.

The added bonus of visiting a region-based restaurant, of course, is also that knowing

the region well will give you a good idea of the menu before you even sit down.

A word of advice

This might seem obvious, but it's worth saying anyway: It's a good sign when the staff speaks

Chinese.

According to Mission Chinese Food's Danny Bowien, the places where the staff uses the

language as their first are, more often than not, the best.

It's simple logic, and similar to choosing the right neighborhood, who else would you

trust to serve authentic, quality Chinese food than culinary-minded folk who've maintained

such a strong link to their culture?

A leap of taste

So you've been shown to your table and handed an English menu to peruse.

What's the first thing you should do?

Throw it away.

Any Chinese restaurant worth its salt will cater to a Chinese clientele, and that means

there's bound to be a Chinese-language menu available.

This menu, which is likely to contain some of the more out-there dishes, might be tricky

to get hold of without somebody who can speak a Chinese language.

If you're willing to throw yourself into the challenge, however, you'll have a whole new

world of Chinese food opened up to you.

And if you've found a place where there isn't even an English menu available, congratulations:

You've struck gold.

Fortune cookie fail

There are some dishes out there which might appear Chinese at first glance, but are actually

simply western inventions designed to appear that way.

"All of these dishes popular here in China might seem unfamiliar to you if you're used

to eating Chinese food in the United States."

Examples of "Chinese" food you won't actually find in China include crab rangoon, which

is an American invention, and duck sauce, which is made from fruit that doesn't exist

in China.

Stay away from broccoli too, which is a Western vegetable, and remember that fortune cookies

were most likely invented by Japanese immigrants to the United States.

Beware of any Chinese restaurant that offers them.

"I refuse to play your chinese food mind games."

At best, any restaurant serving dishes like these is trying to cater to Westerners, or,

at worst, they don't really know what they're doing.

Neither of those should strike you as the best place to get authentic Chinese food.

Dim sum, win some

While there are a handful of Western dishes you should keep an eye out for on the menu,

there's one dish that should reassure you that you've found the right place: dim sum.

For the uninitiated, dim sum is a type of bite-sized food that's usually served in baskets,

often with tea as part of brunch.

Dim sum dishes can include dumplings, rolls, buns and cakes, and are usually pushed around

the restaurant on carts for customers to pick and choose.

According to David R. Chan, an L.A. lawyer who's eaten in over 6,000 North American Chinese

restaurants, almost every single one he's ever found which served dim sum has been an

authentic restaurant catering to Chinese diners.

Use this as your authenticity barometer.

Tea time

Similarly, you can gauge how authentic your Chinese restaurant is by just how seriously

they take their tea.

"It's sniffed, sorted, and served piping hot right on the street.

This is the tea harvest in China."

The Chinese, of course, don't mess around when it comes to the stuff: the drinking of

tea in China is a major part of their culture.

It's used as part of the cuisine, sometimes, even medicinally, and it has a whole load

of rules, signals, and customs attached to it.

Tea is offered to show respect, to demonstrate apology, and to celebrate or show gratitude.

The teas most commonly served in authentic Chinese restaurants are oolong, green tea,

jasmine tea, and pu-erh.

If the restaurant you're in makes a point of offering tea to you, or even insisting

that you drink it, take that as a plus.

Yetunde, Isha, and Lyndrea, lost their father, Yusef Rasheed, at a young age.

In 1979, their mother, Oracene, met Richard Williams, and they were married a year later.

Richard helped raise Oracene's daughters from her prior relationship as if they were his

own.

This included being subjected to Richard's particular brand of tough love.

According to The New York Times, Richard admitted to raising his daughters "as if they were

living in the '50s" and enforced "old-fashioned values" on them, claiming they were instilled

in him by his sharecropper father.

Not normal

After watching one tennis champion take home $40,000 after a match, Richard decided to

push Venus and Serena down a path of professional sports.

He also made sure to involve the other girls.

Isha, Yetunde, and Lyndrea were often charged with keeping track of tennis balls during

practices, feeding them into the ball machine, and then picking them up.

Even with a strict 10 p.m. bedtime that was imposed until they turned 18, as well as their

lack of social lives, the kids didn't realize how odd their situation was.

Isha later said to the New York Times,

"It wasn't until I got to college that I realized that our lives weren't what other people considered

normal."

Sisterly snub

Following her defeat at the 2017 Australian Open Women's Singles final, Venus delivered

a sweet thank you speech that quickly turned awkward, thanks to her sister Isha.

"Sister Isha, where are you?

Oh dang, she didn't come?"

Following the cringe-worthy incident, Australian tennis player Rennae Stubbs clarified the

situation for a local paper, explaining that Isha wasn't trying to be rude.

She'd just gone back to her hotel room, and was watching the speech on television.

A tragic end

The family experienced tragedy on Sept. 14, 2003 when Yetunde Price, the oldest sister,

was killed by a stray bullet while in a car with her fiancé.

Price, who was just 31, was pronounced dead after being transported to a hospital.

Robert Maxfield, an alleged member of the Southside Crips, was unsuccessfully tried

for Price's murder two times before eventually pleading "no contest" to the lesser charge

of voluntary manslaughter.

He was sentenced in 2006 to 15 years in prison.

He was granted parole in March 2018, only to be arrested a week later for violating

the terms of his release.

Aftermath

Speaking with People in 2007, Serena admitted that the subject of her sister's death was

"still hard for [her] to talk about."

The two had been close for all her life, with the mother of three occasionally working as

an assistant to Venus and Serena.

Though Yetunde traveled around the world with her sisters, she preferred to keep away from

the spotlight.

In 2016, the sisters opened the Yetunde Price Resource Center in Compton in her honor, an

organization which aims to help families and children affected by trauma.

As Serena told the Los Angeles Times,

"It meant a lot to us [...] we've been wanting to do something for years in memory of her,

especially [considering] the way it happened, a violent crime."

Out of the shadow

Take a look at Lyndrea Price's Instagram and you'll notice that her public profile has

nothing to do with tennis.

That's because she's worked hard to step out of her famous sisters' shadows and build a

successful career of her own in the field she's most passionate about - fashion.

As CEO of her own company, LP Enterprises, Lyndrea works as a brand developer, helping

new labels come to life.

Next generation

In January 2018, Serena Williams took to Instagram to pen a heartfelt note to the women in her

family, captioning a photo taken for Vogue magazine.

She wrote, "My mom raised five women (one passed) and three grandchildren.

I love this photo because we have a close bond.

This is what keeps me humble.

They are not afraid to tell me anything.

After all, I am the youngest of five."

Serena then expressed her happiness that her daughter, Alexis Olympia, whom she shares

with husband Alexis Ohanian, will grow up surrounded by strong women like Serena's mom,

sisters, and in-laws.

According to Serena, the new girl "will fit right in."

China itself is made up of eight culinary regions: Cantonese, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, which

are known for their light, sweet dishes; Sichuan, which does spicy food better than anyone else;

Seann Walsh's girlfriend Rebecca Humphries confirms split after Katya Jones kiss - Duration: 7:32.

Strictly fans were left shocked as pictures emerged of Seann Walsh kissing dancing partner Katya Jones, during a night out

And the comedian's girlfriend of five years, Rebecca Humphries, has now broken her silence over their actions, hinting the couple have split

Taking to Twitter, the actress claimed she has still not heard a thing from the 32-year-old, but has refused to be labelled as a victim in the situation

'Hello there, my name is Rebecca Humphries and I am not a victim,' she began. 'I wasn't sure whether to respond to events from the past week, but I feel the narrative has missed a couple of crucial elements that I would like to clear up

'It's incredibly good of Sean(n) and Katya to apologise in the media. I have received nothing, other than the support of my family, friends and a host of strangers on the internet who all wanted to make sure I was OK

'What I have also kindly received are many offers to sell my side of the story, but I would prefer for it to be on my own terms

'  Addressing the photos in question, she continued: 'Those pictures were taken on October 3rd

It was my birthday. I was alone at home when Sean texted at 10pm saying the two of them were going for one innocent drink

'We spoke and I told him, not for the first time, that his actions over the past three weeks had led me to believe something inappropriate was going on

'He aggressively, and repeatedly, called me a psycho/nuts/mental. As he has done countless times throughout our relationship when I've questioned his inappropriate, hurtful behaviour

'  Rebecca went on to explain the ordeal has reminded her that she is a 'strong, capable person', and not a victim

'But – this whole business has served to remind me that I am a strong, capable person who is now free; and no victim,' she said

'I have a voice and will use it by saying this to any woman out there who deep down feels worthless and trapped with a man they love

'Believe in yourself and your instincts. It's more than lying. It's controlling

Tell some very close friend who, if they're anything like my wonderful network, will swoop in and take care of the logistics and of you

'It's important also to recognise that in these situations those who hold power over you are insecure and fragile, and their need for control comes from a place of vulnerability

I think it certainly does in Sean's case.  'Despite everything, I hope he gets what he wants from this

I'm not sorry I took the cat though. Love, Rebecca.'  Her words come just after pictures and video were leaked, showing Seann and Katya sharing a passionate kiss in the middle of a deserted street, following a drunken night out

Seann later shared a public apology on his own Twitter page, but failed to mention his girlfriend in the message

'In light of the story in today's newspaper I would like to offer my sincere apologies for my actions,' he told his 107k followers

'This is no excuse but it was a one-off drunken mistake which I am truly sorry for

'  While Katya, who is married to choreographer Neil Jones, also posted a similar apology on social media, branding what happened between herself and her BBC partner a 'one-off' mistake

She also vowed their kiss wasn't a 'reflection' on her five-year marriage.  'I'm so sorry about any offence or hurt I may have caused with my actions

I wasn't thinking and it was a one-off mistake after some drinks,' she added.  'I love my husband and we are very happy together, this is not a reflection on our relationship

'  Neil has yet to publicly speak out over the pictures – but has shared a naked photo of himself 'smouldering' on a boulder on his Instagram page

Hmm

You really made a mess this time, baby

The love we had is gone bad

It makes me sick - To even look at your face

I can't understand

Why you're always bringing up my ex-girlfriend

No need to dwell on the past

Is that the way to show just how much you care?

You always complain

Can't remember the last time you made me laugh

You see, our love is so sad

It took some time to see through all your masks

You go now - Tell on me to all of your friends

But, truth be told - I never was your man

How could it be - Oh girl, you are so mean

Giving me the blues in the 21st century

(yeah)

We're through

How does that ring to you?

It's true

I never was good enough for you

Well, just the other day

You made a scene about how lost you feel

Well, who's to blame for that

You never tried to find your own true self

And all your so-called friends

Know-it-alls who never place their bets

On what they sell as facts

They'll never help you see - What lies ahead

And I tried my best

To show you things

I always bet on, baby

You said I was a twat

And brought the ex up again, oh baby

You go now - Tell on me to all of your friends

But, truth be told - I'm not your kind of man

How could it be - Oh girl, you are so mean

Giving me the blues in the 21st century

(yeah)

We're through

How does that ring to you?

It's true

I never was good enough for you

We're through

How does that ring to you?

It's true

I never was good enough for you

You said, you wanted to be my muse

And gave me the 21st century blues

Well, this one is for you

Don't tell me you don't like this tune!

Mo Farah's coach hints at 2019 track return after Chicago marathon win - Blog news - Duration: 5:22.

Mo Farah's coach, Gary Lough, has hinted that the four-times Olympic champion may consider a surprise return to the track at the world championships in Doha next year

Farah looked hugely impressive in winning the Chicago marathon on Sunday in a European-record time of 2hr 5min 11sec but afterwards Lough raised the possibility that the 35‑year‑old might "surprise a few people" in 2019 – before adding that his plans for Doha had not yet been firmed up

"I think he will sit down with a few of us and look at his general plan for next year," Lough said

"He really wants to run the world championships, but what he runs at the world championships hasn't been decided

" That raises the possibility that Farah might consider running the 10,000m – an event for which he would not have to qualify as a reigning champion from London 2017

When such a scenario was put to Lough, he said he was "not suggesting anything" but then added: "He might change things up a bit next year and surprise a few people, so we will see

" Lough also warned the world marathon record holder, Eliud Kipchoge, that Farah would be his biggest threat in the future

"Right at this time Mo is the second best in the world but who is to know what will happen in six months?" he said

"Eliud has been doing this a long time.We don't know what he will do between now and Tokyo and we don't know what Mo will do

But if I was stepping on the line against him in a marathon in the Olympics I would be worried about Mo Farah

" Speaking after Farah's win in Chicago, Lough said one of the keys to victory was doing longer blocks of work with shorter recoveries in training

"We went to Flagstaff and I was happy with what I saw," he said."There was more track work, more things he doesn't like

In the past he has done quite a lot of really hard track stuff but with long recoveries so we brought that right down

" Lough has a reputation for speaking his mind and he admitted he was slightly surprised that his relationship with Farah had clicked so well

"It has been a bit bumpy sometimes over the years," the coach said."I have known him since he was 16

We are quite similar but different and do our own thing sometimes. We are not in each other's pockets

We have been on top of each other for a while but it has been fine." Farah says he is yet to decide which spring marathon to run in 2019 but suggested it would be either London or Boston

And when asked whether every other marathon runner apart from Kipchoge would be scared of him after his performance in Chicago he nodded

"I think they will be now," he said."They have seen me take control of a race.It is a similar thing I have done on the track over the years – building your character, building yourself, being able to control races

It is a good thing and it has given me a bit more credit when I turn up." While conceding that Kipchoge was the better marathon runner, Farah said he fancied his chances against the rest of the world over 26

1miles."I think I can beat anyone else.I definitely think I am capable of mixing it

" Farah's performance in Chicago was also hailed by his former training partner Galen Rupp, who was sick after the race having finished 70 seconds behind Farah

"He doesn't need to run marathons," Rupp said."But it's something he wants to do and he ran awesome and really smart
