Flower Lady of Gallatin | Volunteer Gardener - Duration: 7:19.

- Beautification happens in small towns

across America, where landscapes in cities

and towns is really an important thing

and here in Gallatin, Tennessee, much of that

is left up to one person.

The flower lady, Alecia Wellbern.

How did the flower lady come to be?

- Well, I had joined Keep Gallatin Beautiful.

We had gone to Southeastern Conference in Gatlinburg,

seen all of their beautiful baskets.

- [Troy] Right.

- [Alecia] My director said well, I know your motto,

just do it, so we put together eight baskets,

presented them to City Hall and from then on

it has grown to 150.

- [Troy] Right, so it started out really

with you as a volunteer effort.

- [Alecia] Yeah, as a volunteer.

- [Troy] And the city embraced what you had done,

the council, mayors, all of that and this has

actually now grown into a job for you.

- [Alecia] Yes, the past two years I'm actually

working with the city helping them

and putting flowers everywhere.

- [Troy] Everywhere.

So we're standing in front of the public works building

right now here in Gallatin.

And you've done some plantings here.

You've also done the front of the Farmer's Market.

So one of the things that you pride yourself on

and have really become kind of known for

is this meadow style of gardening,

where you're doing this from seed,

it's very low maintenance water wise,

requires very little mulch.

Why does that appeal to you?

- [Alecia] It's relaxed.

- [Troy] It's relaxed and you do a lot of this from seed.

- Yes, and a few perennials,

but the annuals, the bi-annuals just make it pop.

When we look at this bed right here when these

start waning so much if I get enough seed,

then I will pull these plants,

come in with zinnias, cosmos, even amaranth, sunflowers,

and these will carry on until fall.

- [Troy] But all from seed.

- All from seed.

- [Troy] Yeah.

- [Alecia] You just don't have to spend a ton of money

to do this.

- [Troy] So heat loving, drought tolerant things

and you just broadcast the seed and let nature

takes its course.

- [Alecia] Sure do.

- [Troy] Yeah.

Now one other thing that you've done that I think

is particularly interesting is an old lot and we

won't call it an abandoned lot because it's really

not abandoned, it is owned by somebody,

but it's just an empty lot like we see

in so many downtown areas where something was there,

that something is gone, a new building hasn't been built

and it was just grown up in.

- [Alecia] Weeds.

- [Troy] Weeds.

- [Alecia] And trash.

- [Troy] Yeah, Johnson grass.

- [Alecia] I just came in and sprayed it,

took out my gooseneck hoe, got out the rubble,

the bricks and seeded it.

- Worked your magic.

- Yeah.

- Handfuls of seeds.

- Yeah.

- And again just letting nature take its course.

Let the rain fall, let the seeds come up.

It really is quite an amazing thing that has happened

in that spot.

It's gone just from really being kind of derelict to

a place of beauty that people walk by every day

and you're expanding on it.

- [Alecia] Yes, it's gonna take a couple of seasons

for the, you know, the weeds to go away.

The Mayor in the past year has a pollinator initiative

wanting more city gardens to have pollinator flowers

to bring in the pollinators.

- [Troy] Yeah, bees, butterflies.

- Bring them back because we, you know,

the monarch initiative.

I'm planning more milkweed, butterfly weed

in all of the gardens and we're trying to

educate the homeowners and we've been having lecture series

at several of the different city gardens.

- [Troy] Well, that's fantastic.

So, it's really an extremely low maintenance

way of gardening.

The landscape around City Hall is a little bit different

and there's a reason for that.

- [Alecia] Well, because the monuments are there

and they were put there for the bicentennial

and it's to dress up the monuments

so you've got to keep it proportioned

so that style, things are in row like cookie cutter.

- Yeah, a little more formal

because City Hall's a little more formal place

and you do have the monuments and so different styles

for different places that are suitable.

We mentioned the hanging baskets.

Now we started with eight hanging baskets.

- They were in the cocoa baskets.

Now these are in plastic baskets and they

have 36 holes and then there's room for six at the top.

- [Troy] Okay.

- [Alecia] We have a nursery that grows

then out for us and they were just put out

a couple of days ago and we have three to four

young guys, usually in school that will keep,

you know they're watered daily,

sometimes twice daily and then after they start

getting a little leggy, I have to go around

and you know prune the bottoms of them off

and just really keep an eye on them.

- [Troy] Right and really keep an eye,

and I'm sure they have to be fed occasionally also.

- [Alecia] Every week.

- [Troy] How have you seen your efforts

serve as inspiration for other business owners

and citizens in the downtown area.

- Well, Derryberry Heat and Air

just received a beautification award.

They have gone above and beyond making

their property look good.

Several, you know, the further down on Northwater

used to be called the bad side of town

and it's not anymore.

There's so many improvements to the buildings,

the beautification, more trash cans,

more ash trays, less trash.

- [Troy] Yeah, so everybody's taking a sense of pride now.

- Yeah.

- [Troy] And a lot because of your efforts.

- And they're happy to see me tooling down, you know,

in my car.

- [Troy] Yeah, in your cart coming down the street,

here comes the flower lady.

- Yeah, they're actually happy.

- So what are the future plans for the flower lady

and the city of Gallatin?

More beds, more expansion?

Are you taking on more responsibility.

- Well, the Franklin House over there,

we'll be putting in a garden,

possibly a rain garden.

- Okay.

- And then at Rosemont a cutting garden

and it may have to be a rain garden because

of several gutters-

- [Troy] That empty out into that area.

- [Alecia] Have to be addressed.

- [Troy] So certain times of the year

will be wet and other times dry, yeah.

- And then there's my gardens.

- Right, yeah, this is your day job

and when you get home there are your own

gardens to take care of.

So, well, I think it's such an important lesson

that you're teaching and that the city is teaching

in the way that they've embraced what you're doing.

- [Alecia] It's definitely a labor of love.

BOOKSTAGRAM FAIL | BOOKTUBEATHON | DAY 2 - Duration: 7:02.

Good morning

It is

BookTube-A-Thon day 2 and I'm just doing my hair so I could put a hat on it. And I have to go to work.

I never finished Barracoon. I was up editing

so I didn't finish that I'm bringing Barracoon and

Perks of Being a Wallflower with me to work. See if I can finish. It's not very busy on campus since finals are over

Okay, so I'm gonna see how the hat looks

Alright, so this is the look with the hat. I'm not gonna wear it just yet because I'm going to work

but later when I actually pick up the book, then I'll put it on and

Complete the challenge hopefully today with reading Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

Today was a long day. I went to work

Early this morning and I got off work in the evening and I had to go to a meeting

And that meeting took an hour and now I have food

And tomorrow I have to be packed up

I can't

Be in this room. I have to leave. I didn't read my book at all that I have to wear my hat for. But I ended up wearing the hat anyway

Anyway, today's vlog isn't very exciting because I was stuck in one place all day instead of reading

I was editing the vlog and I posted day one ofBookTube-A-Thon. I didn't finish Barracoon

I didn't even start Perks of Being a Wallflower, but I do want to try to do that tonight

And the time is 9:13 p.m

So I'm gonna finish my meal. PDQ, some fries, and chicken tenders.

I might watch a couple BookTube-A-Thon vlogs myself. I love seeing how people edit their vlogs and I love seeing other people's creativity

I'm so excited to eat!

I haven't had PDQ in two months. So last time I had PDQ. I had just got my braces tightened

I wanted PDQ that day and I ate it. It was so hard to eat. I really want to finish

Barracoon tonight. I'm going to try to do it. I'm gonna try, um, right now I do want to try to

I was on Instagram this morning and I was looking at the different photos that people already posted and you know

A lot of them are like regular stacks, mini stacks, tall stacks

very very very very very creative stacks like stacks of your books as a house or castle, so I want to

Take a picture of my books stacked laying flat down

So we'll see how that looks

I have no lighting. So it's not gonna be the same as it usually is when I post on my Instagram with my theme

So we'll see what it looks like. If I don't like it, I'm not gonna post it

I don't want to anything on my Instagram

That doesn't make me happy. I might as well do it because when I go home to my parents house

I'm definitely not gonna have good lighting because the lighting is very yellow

My room isn't very bright at my parent's house so might as well enjoy the challenge while I have my bookshelf to make pretty pictures

Okay, so far I have the first book, I'm just splitting them down the middle and stacking them

website to make money online fast, and you can earn $10 per test now the testing is for you to basically

test the functionality of websites and mobile apps for various phones okay so

what you will be required to do is visit a website or use an app and complete a

certain set of tasks you will need to speak your thoughts out loud as you are

visiting the website and you will get paid ten dollars for doing that how long

does it actually take to do a test typically under 20 minutes so you can

see here it says how it works get ten dollars by PayPal for every twenty

minute video that you complete user testing pays you to visit websites or

apps complete a set of tasks and speak your thoughts aloud is this actually a

legitimate website in absolutely is it has been covered numerous times in

a particular Museum in the United States and they asked me to find a map starting

from the homepage find a map of that museum and then the second part of the

task was to find the opening hours and then I had to give my feedback whether

it was hard or easy to find that particular map and for me to find the

visiting hours and the days that the what museum was open and closed so it's

super simple guys it can't really get much simpler than that

and obviously when you take $10 for a 20 minute video you know if you calculate

that into the hourly rate you can make approximately $30 an hour for an hour of

your time so that's really good all you need is just PC or Mac with internet

connection you need to download the testing software and you need to be able

to speak your thoughts in English how do you actually get paid well they pay by

paypal so you get paid seven days after you complete your video and then it gets

uploaded to their website another good thing is that as you know sometimes the

certain sites are limited to only residents of particular countries

East and India there are a ton of countries that they work with Asia

Pacific a lot of countries here okay Europe tons of countries in Europe so

virtually almost any country on the planet if as long as you speak some

English and you've got a basic computer setup at home you can sign up with

usertesting.com and you're able to work the signup

process was actually quick and easy when I did that you will need to do a simple

test then it gets sent off and in a couple of days they get back to you and

they approve you and then you know provided that you did a pretty good

with that sample thought so just make sure when you actually sign up you you

do a good job with that initial sample task it took me about seven minutes for

that simple task so it is pretty quick now in order for you guys to sign up so

you might just type in usertesting.com into your browser okay and to be able to

sign up as a tester after you get to use the testing com

you will need to go into the bottom here and then you will need to go into

careers about us and then careers and then after that at the bottom from

memory yep here it is so looking to get paid to take user tests see this writing

here sign up the way to be today to be a tester so you just click that and from

here you will need to enter your email address and you will be able to sign up

as a tester from there alright so hopefully you found this useful let's

move on to the next website guys the second website is testing time so you

can go to testing time just by typing in testing time calm into your browser and

you will get to this site so as you can see here it says we recruit test users

for usability test focus groups interviews surveys and more and as long

as you click here at the top right you can click become a test user and that

will take you to this page with all of the information about how much money you

can make in so forth so I actually couldn't believe this when I saw this

the first time as you can see it says earn up to fifty euros per hour so

that's quite a lot you know if you convert it to dollars that'll be what

like sixty seventy dollars an hour something like that and what they do is

they allow you to test products at home via Skype or on site with the customers

so then you can enter your name here and email and you can sign up and a little

bit of information about this if you're kind of considering whether it's for you

and not so basically you'll get up to fifty dollars or fifty euro per study

what you'll need to do is you will get first access to new apps and websites

and you will share your experience to make those services and websites better

and typical study takes around 30 to 90 minutes it says here so 50 euro for that

kind of time is actually really really good so you will need to sign up with

testing time after you sign up you will be given certain test jobs you will need

to accept those test jobs and then you just do the carry out that testing and

then you will get paid so they create date and time you will participate in a

guided user building tests it will be either with client in person or via

Skype all right and once completed you will get paid within 10 days so you can

see that this is a very legitimate website as well they work with Deloitte

by UBS trivago doodle I don't really I'm not familiar with the other companies

but you know I'm familiar with Deloitte the new BS and trivago so clearly this

is a very well established trustworthy website so there are a few fa Q's here

and in terms of you can go through as you're signing up you know if you have

any questions but this definitely is another great website to sign up to make money online fast

obviously the work will not be regular but that's why you sign up to a few of

these types of websites if you're going to be working a few hours a day or even

respondent dot IO and that's another website where you can make money online

pretty fast just type in respondent dot IO into your browser and you'll get to

this page and then you will need to select this option if you want to sign

up for it so if you click for respondents it says get paid for

participating in research studies and then you go ahead and click sign up I've

gone ahead and signed up just to show you guys the type of work that's

available so you will need to go through qualification not qualification sorry

rather questionnaire so as you sign up you know they'll ask you obviously where

you leave your age and so on what kind of experience you've got what sort of

industries you're interested in and what sort of interest industries you've got

background in and then after that I've just

opportunities here it says you know as you can see that pay good money for a

short amount of your time so it's totally worth signing up and seeing what

kind of options there are these of course get updated on a regular basis so

if this is gonna be another website where you sign up then on a regular

basis you will be able to get new jobs in here and you can make a really nice

So, here are 7 ways you can try to master critical thinking process:

1.

Learn how to question things.

To become adept at critical thinking, you must learn to question things.

This includes questioning statements from authority figures, general assumptions, and

even your own beliefs.

Think for yourself.

Stop accepting everything you are told, and begin thinking for yourself.

For example, a guitar teacher may have taught you how to play guitar in a certain way, but

can you now improve on that way?

By thinking for yourself, you'll unleash your creativity and boost your self-confidence.

3.

Evaluate evidence.

Evidence can be a great way to find answers to issues you may be experiencing.

However, don't just take evidence at face value, dig more.

These probing questions will enable you to quickly identify evidence that is sound – and

evidence that you should steer clear of.

Become aware of your personal biases.

If you're honest with yourself, most times you probably think you're right.

While this may be the case, when making decisions, you must put aside any personal biases or

beliefs.

Critical thinking needs to look at different perspectives and points of view before reaching

a conclusion.

I know it's hard to think outside of your personal biases, but for the sake of your

success in life – you must try to do so.

Consider motive.

Like a great detective, you must become skilled at uncovering motive.

For example, think of a time that a company offered you a free product to try.

All you needed to do was give some basic personal details to them, but turn out they just wanted

to capture and sell on your personal information.

Break big issues into small pieces.

Big picture thinking is all the rage nowadays, but it's not always the best way to reach

decisions.

If you need to deal with a major problem such as losing your job, then you can become quickly

overwhelmed by events.

This stress and anxiety could lead to inaction on your part.

Try breaking down the issue into smaller components.

For instance, ensuring all your bills are covered, then seek new work opportunities.

Big problems seem much less scary when you break them down into small pieces.

7.

Keep it simple.

Actually, the simplest answer is most often correct.

Frequently, we look for complex answers when the truth may be staring us right in the face.

For example, a loud bang is heard inside an office that is close to a busy highway.

Some staff think it may be a bomb, others suggest that it's just a truck backfiring.

I'll let you decide which one of these is the most likely cause of the noise.

Use critical thinking every time that you need to make an important decision.

People will notice the difference in your actions.

And before long, you'll be achieving more success than you ever thought was possible.

Greetings everybody this is Paul the inventoryking hope you guys are all

looking at some albino African cichlids now I got some clips from some fellow

fish keepers so let's go ahead and take a look at the fish alright so the first

fish that you can see here is a beautiful male albino OB dragonblood now

allowing me to use this clip in this video so as you can see here again this

is an albino dragonblood OB this guy from what I was told was just on fire

this day really going after the other fish as you can see by the heavy

breathing typically a sign of chasing now I don't know about you guys but I

think it's absolutely beautiful in those comments down below what do you guys

is also from Africancichlids_malawi this is an albino sunshine I like

the yellow and the white with the red eyes is super awesome looking this is

also from her this is an albino dimidiochromis compressiceps and as you can

see this guy right here is just sifting through this this sand through this sand

gravel looking for something to eat it's really awesome to see them going down

into the into the substrate bed they're pulling some stuff

a sweet-looking fish with the white barring and the yellow barring red-eyes

again just super cool this is a Eureka albino Eureka red beautiful white pearly

face with that orange body man that is awesome that's also from

Africancichlids_malawi now this is from my friend Billy Smith I will have a

link to his Facebook in the description this is his gorgeous albino red Empress

I mean if this guy's got crazy fins on fire trying to breed with this female

this guy is something awesome I wouldn't mind having that fish whoo this is also

Billy's fish albino Eureka breeding pair these guys are going at it they're

breeding away a lot of the albinos have you know that orangish light orange

yellow white now this is a throw-in this is a albino geophagus I wouldn't mind

having this fish as well this is from Billy as well look at that man that is a

cool fish this is from Martin Maldonado no on YouTube I got a link to

his channel in the description this is an albino flavescent peacock this is a

sweet fish the face is kind of a whitish blue with those red eyes and the yellow

body I mean that is an awesome look in african cichlid Wow and also you got

this one here on albino Eureka the the red on this fish with the white tips and

then the white chin and the eyes men awesome awesome fish from Martin what
