Dream Big, Princess Global Video Series | Disney - Duration: 1:46.
TAPIWA MAONI (VOICEOVER): My favorite Disney
Princess has to be Belle from "Beauty and the Beast."
She was a reader.
She was someone who wasn't complacent with her life.
I remember from the movie, there was this lyric--
"I want more than this provincial life."
And since I was so young, I can really resonate with that.
I've always wanted more.
WOMAN (VOICEOVER): Dreams, they allow
you to see beyond your immediate circumstance.
WOMAN (VOICEOVER): If you don't dream big,
there's so much talent that can go to waste.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
But just know, if you're waiting for a time
that you don't have that little fear,
you're going to be on the sidelines a long time.
VICTORIA ARLEN (VOICEOVER): Either keep dreaming,
or give up.
And so I decided to keep dreaming.
EMILY BLUNT (VOICEOVER): Storytelling
allows people to get a glimpse into other people's lives.
And through that we get empathy and we get compassion.
NDIFANJI NAMACHA (VOICEOVER): It's
not only allowing women to be able to see
what they're capable of.
It gives to the whole world.
JO MALONE: We have the responsibility
to hand that pattern of belief and self-belief and positivity
to the next generation.
JENNIFER LEE (VOICEOVER): Trust that you
have a right to create that you have a right to be an artist.
You have a right to have a voice.
And I think when you dream big, you have
to take a huge leap sometimes.

The National for Tuesday, October 9, 2018 — Saudi Arabia, Police Pot, Inside Myanmar - Duration: 45:11.
(*)
(*)
(*)
>> Adrienne: ON THIS TUESDAY
NIGHT... DID OTTAWA SCREW UP?
>> I THINK WE TOOK IT A STEP TOO
FAR.
>> Adrienne: EXPELLED FROM
SAUDI ARABIA, THIS FORMER
CANADIAN AMBASSADOR IS SPEAKING
OUT FOR THE FIRST TIME ABOUT THE
DIPLOMATIC DISPUTE AND THE
MISTAKES THAT HE THINKS THAT
CANADA MADE.
A CBC NEWS EXCLUSIVE.
>> Rosemary: ONE WEEK TO
LEGALIZATION POLICE FORCES
GRAPPLE WITH THE KEY QUESTION --
WHEN CAN OFF-DUTY OFFICERS USE
CANNABIS?
DO SOME RULES GO TOO FAR?
>> Ian: AND "IN DEPTH."
>> Reporter: THERE ARE
REMNANTS OF VILLAGES THAT HAVE
BEEN BURNED.
>> Ian: AND THE ROHINGYA MUSLIMS
FLED MYANMAR IN SIGNS OF
ATROCITIES THAT CANADA CALLS A
GENOCIDE.
WE'RE THE ONLY CANADIAN
JOURNALISTS INSIDE OF MYANMAR.
THIS IS "THE NATIONAL."
(*)
>> Adrienne: FOR MONTHS A
DIPLOMATIC RIFT HAS BEEN
FESTERING BETWEEN CANADA AND
SAUDI ARABIA AND IT ALL STARTED
WITH A TWEET.
CONSIDER THE FALLOUT... SAUDI
ARABIA SUSPENDED NEW TRADE WITH
CANADA, IT RECALLED THOUSANDS OF
SAUDI STUDENTS STUDYING HERE AND
IT KICKED OUT CANADA'S
AMBASSADOR.
THAT MAN IS DENNIS HORAK.
HE IS NOW RETIRED AND HE'S
TALKING EXCLUSIVELY TO "THE
NATIONAL."
HE'S GOT A LOT TO SAY, STARTING
WITH THE STORY OF THAT TWEET.
>> WE WERE STANDING AROUND.
THERE WAS ABOUT 20, 25 PEOPLE
HERE.
>> Adrienne: RETURNING TO THE
SCENE OF THE CRIME, DENNIS HORAK
WAS HERE IN HIS BROTHER'S
TORONTO BACKYARD ON VACATION
WHEN HE LEARNED THIS SUMMER THE
SAUDIS HAD EXPELLED HIM AS
AMBASSADOR.
DID YOU THINK THAT WAS A JOKE?
>> AT FIRST WE THOUGHT BECAUSE
IT WAS ON TWITTER, THIS IS NOT
THE WAY THAT THESE
THINGS ARE DONE.
>> Adrienne: TWITTER, THIS IS
WHERE THE PROBLEMS BEGAN.
IN AUGUST CANADA URGED THE
IMMEDIATE RELEASE OF WOMEN'S
RIGHTS ACTIVISTS.
AS WAS ROUTINE
IT WAS TRANSLATED INTO ARABIC
AND SENT OUT FROM THE CANADIAN
EMBASSY IN RIYADH, THE SAUDIS
WERE FUROUS.
NO ONE ASKED HIS OPINION AND HE
SAID HE WOULDN'T HAVE ADVISED
IT.
>> TO SORT OF DROP A TWEET AS WE
DID IN A VACUUM WITH NO
BILATERAL RELATIONSHIP REALLY TO
SPEAK OF, IT'S NOT EFFECTIVE AND
IT HAS REPERCUSSIONS.
>> Adrienne: SAUDI ARABIA
CANCELLED FLIGHTS TO CANADA, AND
ORDERED SAUDI INVESTMENT PULLED
AND DECLARED THAT SAUDI STUDENTS
WOULD HAVE TO LEAVE AND RECALLED
ITS OWN AMBASSADOR.
DID OTTAWA SCREW UP?
>> WE TOOK IT A STEP TOO FAR, I
THINK.
THAT THE IMMEDIATE RELEASE LINE
SEEMS TO BE WHAT HAS REALLY
AGITATED THEM.
WHETHER WE CAN COME BACK FROM
THAT OR NOT, I DON'T KNOW.
>> Adrienne: WHY WOULD THIS
OFFEND THE SAUDIS SO MUCH?
>> THEY WERE UPSET THAT IT WAS
IN ARABIC.
THEY FELT THAT WE WERE TARGETING
THEIR AUDIENCE, THEIR PUBLIC.
AND THIS WOULD GIVE THEM
AMMUNITION TO SAY, SEE, LOOK,
WE'RE BEING PUSHED AROUND BY THE
WEST.
>> Adrienne: A FEW MONTHS ON
THEY TALK INDIGNANTLY ABOUT
CANADA.
LISTEN TO THE FOREIGN MINISTER
LAST WEEK IN NEW YORK...
>> YOU CAN TALK TO US ABOUT
HUMAN RIGHTS ANYTIME THAT YOU
WANT, WE'D BE HAPPY TO HAVE THAT
CONVERSATION LIKE WE DO WITH ALL
OF OUR ALLIES.
BUT LECTURING US?
NO WAY.
NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.
>> HE'S RIGHT.
THE AMERICAN AND THE STATE
DEPARTMENT ISSUES A HUMAN RIGHTS
REPORT EVERY YEAR, BUT THEY BOTH
HAVE STRONG RELATIONSHIPS WITH
SAUDI ARABIA SO IT CAN SURVIVE
SOME OF THOSE PUBLIC DRESSING
DOWNS.
IN WAYS THAT WE WERE VULNERABLE
TO.
>> Adrienne: RATHER THAN BACK
DOWN CANADA HAS OWNED ITS TWEET,
ITS FROST WITH SAUDI ARABIA.
WHILE NO OTHER NATIONS HAVE
COME TO THIS COUNTRY'S DEFENCE,
HUMAN RIGHTS GROUPS HAVE AND
HORAK FINDS THAT TELLING.
>> IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THE
APPLAUSE THAT THE GOVERNMENT HAS
GOTTEN FROM
AMNESTY ORGINISATION AND OTHER
ORGINISATIONS IS SOMETHING
THAT'S WELCOMED BY THE
GOVERNMENT.
AND PERHAPS RIGHTLY SO.
AND PERHAPS THAT'S WHAT IS
DRIVING IT.
>> Adrienne: IS THAT WORTH AS
MUCH AS A RELATIONSHIP WITH
SAUDI ARABIA?
IS THAT A GOOD TRADEOFF?
>> IN MY VIEW, NO.
>> Adrienne: WHAT WAS YOUR
CONVERSATION LIKE WITH THE
MINISTER AFTER THIS HAPPENED?
>> I HAVEN'T SPOKEN TO HER.
>> Adrienne: DID SHE NOT TAKE
THE CALL OR DID YOU NOT MAKE THE
CALL?
>> I DIDN'T SPEAK TO HER.
I SPOKE WITH HER STAFF AND I WAS
THERE A COUPLE DAYS AFTER TRYING
TO ASSESS THE IMPACT.
BUT, NO, I DIDN'T SPEAK
PERSONALLY TO THE MINISTER OR
THE PRIME MINISTER.
>> Adrienne: IF HE DID HAVE
THAT CONVERSATION HE MIGHT SAY
THAT HIS CRITICISM ISN'T
POLITICAL BECAUSE HE WAS ALSO
THROWN OUT IN HIS POST AS
CANADA'S
AMBASSADOR TO IRAN AFTER STEPHEN
HARPER'S GOVERNMENT CUT TIES
WITH THE NATION.
>> WHEN I WAS IN IRAN AND
WHETHER WE LIKE WHAT THEY'RE
DOING OR NOT IS REALLY NOT THE
ISSUE.
IF YOU WANT THESE CHANGES TO
HAPPEN, IF YOU WANT TO HAVE YOUR
VOICE HEARD YOU HAVE TO ENGAGE
THEM.
>> Adrienne: TORONTO IS HOME
NOW FOR HORAK AND HIS WIFE,
WRITING ANALYSIS, IT MAY BE HIS
DESTINY.
HE DOESN'T EXPECT TO BE ADVISING
ANYONE ABOUT SAUDI ARABIA.
>> ANYBODY WILL WANT TO DO
BUSINESS WITH SAUDI ARABIA WON'T
PUT ME ON A BOARD OR PUTTING ME
AS AN ADVISOR.
THE BUSINESS SIDE WOULD HAVE
BEEN NICE.
>> Adrienne: PERSONA NON GRATA
IS THE PERSONAL TERM, SKUNK AT
THE PARTY?
THAT WILL DO THOUGH.
>> Ian: SO, ADRIENNE LET'S LOOK
AT A COUPLE ISSUES BROUGHT UP BY
THIS WHOLE STORY.
FIRST OF ALL, WHAT ABOUT THE
WOMEN'S RIGHTS ACTIVISTS IN THAT
TWEET?
>> Adrienne: HE KNOWS THEM
WELL.
DENNIS HORAK SAYS HE DOESN'T
THINK THAT THE TWEET HURT THEM.
THEY'RE STILL IN JAIL THOUGH.
IT'S HARD TO SAY WHAT'S
HAPPENING THOUGH AND THAT'S SORT
OF HIS POINT BECAUSE CANADA
REALLY DOESN'T HAVE EYES ON THE
SITUATION RIGHT NOW.
IT'S REALLY DIFFICULT TO ASSESS
WHAT'S GOING ON WITH THEM.
AND THAT'S WHAT YOU LOSE WHEN
YOU DO THIS.
>> Ian: OF COURSE, A BIG STORY
LOOMING OVER THIS, IS THE SAUDI
JOURNALIST JAMAL KHASHOGGI.
AND WHEN YOU DID THIS INTERVIEW
THE NEWS HADN'T YET KIND OF
BROKEN THAT SOME PEOPLE BELIEVE
THAT HE MAY BE DEAD?
>> Adrienne: THAT'S RIGHT.
THERE'S A BIT OF AN UPDATE ABOUT
HIM RIGHT NOW.
THE U.N. HIGH COMMISSION FOR
HUMAN RIGHTS HAS WEIGHED IN ON
THE MYSTERY OF KHASHOGGI.
>> WE CALL FOR COOPERATION
BETWEEN TURKEY AND SAUDI ARABIA
TO CONDUCT A PROMPT, IMPARTIAL,
AND INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATION
INTO THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF
MR. KHASHOGGI'S DISAPPEARANCE.
AND TO MAKE THE FINDINGS PUBLIC.
>> Adrienne: SO JAMAL
KHASHOGGI ENTERED THE SAUDI
CONSULATE IN ISTANBUL LAST
TUESDAY AND HAS NOT BEEN SEEN
SINCE.
TODAY TURKEY'S STATE-RUN
TELEVISION RELEASED AN IMAGE
THAT APPARENTLY SHOWS KHASHOGGI
GOING INTO THE CONSULATE.
AND THERE ARE REPORTS THAT
TURKISH STAFF AT THE CONSULATE
WERE SUDDENLY GIVEN THE DAY OFF.
THE SAUDIS MAINTAIN THAT
KHASHOGGI LEFT THE BUILDING
SHORTLY AFTER.
TURKEY'S FOREIGN MINISTRY SAID
THAT A SEARCH WILL BE CONDUCTED
THERE.
>> Rosemary: HERE'S A LOOK AT
WHAT ELSE WE'RE WORKING ON
TONIGHT AT "THE NATIONAL"...
>>> TAYLOR SWIFT ASKS PEOPLE TO
SIGN UP AS VOTER REGISTRATION
SPIKES
AHEAD OF THE MIDTERM ELECTIONS.
WHY SHE'S CHOOSING NOW TO GET
POLITICAL.
>> Ian: AS HURRICANE MICHAEL
GETS CLOSER AND GROWS STRONGER,
EVACUATIONS ARE UNDERWAY ALONG
THE GULF OF MEXICO.
WHY THIS MONSTER STORM IS
EXPECTED TO BE SO BAD.
>> Adrienne: AND A CANADIAN
EXCLUSIVE.
NAHLAH AYED TAKES US INSIDE
MYANMAR FOR A RARE GLIMPSE OF
WHAT IS LEFT OF THE ROHINGYA
VILLAGES AFTER THE MASSACRE.
HERE'S A PREVIEW...
>> Reporter: IMMEDIATELY
STRIKING AS WE DRIVE NORTH INTO
THE KILLING ZONE, THE HAUNTING
HINTS OF THE RAZED ROHINGYA
MUSLIM VILLAGES THAT REMAIN.
LOOK AT THAT RIGHT THERE.
WHAT LOOKS LIKE COCONUT TREES
BUT ITS TOPS ARE TAKEN OFF.
A FEW MORE HERE.
WHAT WE HAVE BEEN TOLD IS THAT
THOSE ARE THE REMNANTS OF
VILLAGES THAT HAVE BEEN BURNED.
WOW, LOOK AT THAT.
LOOK, MORE.
AS WE SPEED BY ONE VILLAGE WE
COULD ONLY IDENTIFY WITH THE-AS WE SPEED B Y ONE VILLAGE WE
COULD ONLY IDENTIFY WITH THE
HELP OF AN APP ON A MAP.
HUMAN RIGHTS WATCH SAID THAT 700
BUILDINGS WERE BURNED DOWN HERE
IN A SYSTEMIC CAMPAIGN.
THERE'S NOTHING LEFT TO COME
BACK TO.
>> Adrienne: NAHLAH'S FULL
REPORT A LITTLE LATER ON "THE
NATIONAL."
>> Rosemary: CANADA IS JUST
EIGHT DAYS AWAY NOW FROM LEGAL
RECREATIONAL POT.
TODAY WE LEARNED HOW THAT WILL
AFFECT SOME OF THIS COUNTRY'S
POLICE OFFICERS.
BRIAR STEWART LOOKS AT HOW MUCH
WEED IS CONSIDERED TOO MUCH FOR
SOMEONE WHO WEARS A BADGE.
>> Reporter: IN JUST OVER A
WEEK LEGAL RECREATIONAL POT WILL
MEAN CHANGES FOR POLICE ON THE
JOB.
THE DEPARTMENTS ARE ALSO HAVING
TO CONSIDER WHAT THEIR OFFICERS
SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO DO ON THEIR
OWN TIME.
>> WE TRUST OUR EMPLOYEES AND WE
LOOKED AT THE POLICIES
SURROUNDING PRESCRIPTION USE AND
ALCOHOL USE AND WE REALLY DON'T
HAVE AN ISSUE HERE.
>> Reporter: THE VANCOUVER
POLICE DEPARTMENT IS TAKING THE
SAME APPROACH TO RECREATIONAL
CANNABIS AS TO ALCOHOL.
OFFICERS WON'T BE TOLD WHAT THEY
CAN AND CAN'T DO WHILE THEY'RE
NOT AT WORK BUT THEY'RE REQUIRED
TO SHOW UP FIT FOR DUTY.
OTHER POLICE FORCES HAVE MORE
RESTRICTIVE POLICIES.
THE RCMP IS LOOKING AT BANNING
OFFICERS FROM USING RECREATIONAL
CANNABIS FOR 28 DAYS BEFORE A
SHIFT.
TODAY TORONTO POLICE ANNOUNCED
THAT IT'S THEIR POLICY.
>> THEY'VE MADE THE DECISION
BASED ON THE ROLE THAT OUR
OFFICERS PLAY IN PROTECTING
COMMUNITY SAFETY.
AND RIGHT NOW THE SCIENCE TELLS
US THAT YOU CAN BE IMPAIRED
AND/OR HAVE THE EFFECTS OF
CANNABIS UP TO 28 DAYS OF USE.
>> Reporter: THE CALGARY
POLICE DEPARTMENT GOES EVEN
FURTHER.
IF THE OFFICERS ARE TRAINED TO
USE FIREARMS AND CAN BE CALLED
IN FOR ACTIVE DUTY THEY CAN'T
USE EVER.
THE UNION EXPECTS CHALLENGES TO
THE POLICY.
>> I'VE EVEN HAD MEMBERS
APPROACH ME THAT HAVE SAID I'M
NOT EVEN PLANNING ON USING BUT I
DON'T THINK THAT IT'S FAIR FOR
MY EMPLOYER TO TELL ME WHAT I'M
GOING TO DO ON MY OWN TIME.
>> Reporter: IT DOESN'T HELP
THAT THERE ARE NO COMMON
GUIDELINES FOR ALL FORCES.
>> THAT'S WHAT THEY MEAN BY
FITNESS FOR DUTY...
>> Reporter: THIS
CRIMINOLOGIST BELIEVES THAT
HAVING INCONSISTENT POLICIES CAN
LEAD TO CONFUSION.
>> IT RAISES QUESTIONS ABOUT THE
RELIABILITY OF SOME OF THESE
LIMITATIONS BECAUSE THE
CIRCUMSTANCES OF POLICING AND
THE EXPERIENCES AND THE
ENVIRONMENT OF POLICING ARE NOT
THAT DIFFERENT FROM ONE CITY TO
ANOTHER.
>> Reporter: BUT AS IT STANDS
THE RULES FOR POLICE OFFICERS
WILL DIFFER.
JUST BECAUSE RECREATIONAL POT
WOULD BE LEGAL FOR CANADIAN
ADULTS, IT DOESN'T MEAN THAT
EVERYONE WILL BE ALLOWED TO
PARTAKE.
BRIAR STEWART, CBC NEWS,
VANCOUVER.
>> Rosemary: AS BRIAR JUST
MENTIONED THERE, EACH POLICE
FORCE IS GOING AT IT THEIR OWN
WAY AND SO HOW DO THEY COME TO
THE CONCLUSIONS?
JASON BUSSE RESEARCHES THE
EFFECTS OF CANNABIS AT
McMASTER UNIVERSITY AND HE'S
IN TORONTO TONIGHT.
GOOD TO SEE YOU, JASON.
TORONTO POLICE SAY THAT THEIR
OFFICERS CAN'T USE CANNABIS FOR
28 DAYS BEFORE REPORTING FOR
DUTY AND THERE'S OTHER POLICE
FORCES GOING WITH THAT NUMBER AS
WELL.
WHERE DO YOU THINK THAT NUMBER
CAME FROM?
>> IT'S DIFFICULT TO KNOW WHERE
THAT NUMBER COMES FROM BUT THERE
MUST BE SOME KIND OF
TEST THAT THEY'RE USING TO
DETECT THE PRESENCE OF CANNABIS
IN AN OFFICER'S SYSTEM.
THE T.H.C. IS BROKEN DOWN INTO
METABOLITES WHICH CAN BE
DETECTED IN URINE, FOR EXAMPLE.
AND BECAUSE T.H.C. IS STORED IN
FAT CELLS CAN IT LEECH INTO THE
SYSTEM AFTER THE HIGH HAS PASSED
AND IT CAN BE DETECTED DEPENDING
FOR DAYS AND EVEN UP TO WEEKS.
SO THEY MAY BE LOOKING AT SOME
TYPE OF TEST THAT IS FOCUSING
MORE ON THE METABOLITES OR THE
BREAKDOWN PRODUCTS OF CANNABIS
AS OPPOSED TO THE ACTUAL EFFECTS
THAT IT MIGHT HAVE ON AN
OFFICER.
>>> Rosemary: OKAY, SO IT MIGHT
NOT
BE THAT YOU'RE HIGH FOR 28 DAYS
BECAUSE THAT DOESN'T SOUND
RIGHT, BUT HOW LONG DOES T.H.C.
STAY IN A PERSON'S BODY, AND
DOES IT LEAVE THEM IMPAIRED FOR
A LONG PERIOD OF TIME?
>> WELL, DEPENDING ON HOW THEY
TAKE IT IN -- WHETHER THEY SMOKE
IT,
INHALE IT OR INGEST IT, THE
POTENCY OF THE PRODUCT AND HOW
MUCH T.H.C. WHICH IS IN IT,
WHICH IS THE PSYCHOACTIVE
COMPONENT, THE PERSON'S
METABOLISM, THIS ALL PLAYS A
PART IN HOW LONG IT STAYS IN
YOUR SYSTEM.
BUT IN TERMS OF THE ACTUAL HIGH
THAT YOU FEEL, THAT EUPHORIA, IF
YOU INHALE OR SMOKE CANNABIS
THAT LASTS ONE TO THREE HOURS ON
AVERAGE.
IF YOU INGEST THROUGH AN EDIBLE
IT MIGHT BE FOUR TO SIX HOURS,
DEPENDING HOW MUCH YOU HAVE IN
YOUR STOMACH WHEN YOU HAVE TAKEN
THE PRODUCT.
BUT YOU'RE RIGHT, THE IDEA THAT
YOU WOULD REMAIN IMPAIRED FOR A
PERIOD OF 28 DAYS OR EVEN A
MATTER OF DAYS IS SIMPLY
UNTENABLE.
>> Rosemary: ONLY ABOUT 30
SECONDS BUT HOW WORRIED ARE YOU
AT THIS STAGE ABOUT PEOPLE
COMING INTO WORK WITH CANNABIS
STILL IN THEIR SYSTEM?
AND DO YOU THINK WHAT WE'RE
SEEING FROM POLICE IS MORE ABOUT
LIABILITY?
>> I SUSPECT THAT IT IS MORE THE
LATTER.
I THINK THAT THERE'S BEEN A LOT
OF PRODUCTS OUT THERE, A LOT OF
SUBSTANCES THAT PEOPLE CAN TAKE
IN, WHETHER IT'S A GLASS OF BEER
OR A GLASS OF WINE THAT HAVE THE
POTENTIAL TO IMPAIR YOU AND,
CERTAINLY I THINK THAT MOST
OFFICERS HANDLE THAT
RESPONSIBILITY.
THEY DO WHAT THEY DO ON THEIR
TIME OFF, IT DOESN'T EFFECT WHAT
THEY DO AT WORK.
SO I'M NOT OVERLY CONCERNED THEY
MIGHT HAVE A METABOLITE IN THEIR
SYSTEM.
BUT A 28-DAY SPAN SEEMS
EXCESSIVE FOR THAT.
>> Rosemary: JASON BUSSE,
THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME, I
APPRECIATE IT.
>> THANK YOU.
>> Rosemary: IT'S NOT JUST
POLICE FORCES
GRAPPLING WITH THIS ISSUE, AND
TODAY WESTJET SAID THAT ANYONE
IN
"SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITIONS"
WOULD BE BANNED FROM MARIJUANA
USE EVEN WHEN NOT AT WORK.
AND AIR CANADA HAD A SIMILAR
POLICY.
HOW ABOUT FIREFIGHTERS?
WELL, TORONTO FIREFIGHTERS ARE
NOT CHANGING THEIR POLICY.
THAT EMPLOYEES ARE STRICTLY
PROHIBITED
FROM SHOWING UP TO WORK
IMPAIRED.
VANCOUVER ADDS THAT YOU CAN'T
TAKE ANY IMPAIRING SUBSTANCE
FOUR HOURS BEFORE A SHIFT.
AND SOME ARE STILL TRYING TO
COME UP WITH A POLICY AND WE
HAVE THE CANADA BORDER SERVICES
AGENCY AND CORRECTIONAL SERVICE
OF CANADA AND N.A.V. CANADA
WHICH RUNS CANADA'S AIR
NAVIGATION SYSTEM.
>> Ian: TO NEW BRUNSWICK NOW
WHERE CHOOSING TO LIVE NEAR
CANADA'S BIGGEST OIL REFINERY
COMES WITH AN UNDERSTANDING OF
THE POTENTIAL RISK.
STILL, AFTER YESTERDAY'S
EXPLOSION SENT FLAMES SHOOTING
INTO THE AIR AND PEOPLE RUNNING
FOR THEIR LIVES, YOU CAN IMAGINE
SOME OF THE THOUSANDS WHO LIVE
NEARBY MAY BE ON EDGE.
KAYLA HOUNSELL SPOKE WITH
RESIDENTS IN SAINT JOHN.
>> Reporter: AS CREWS CONTINUE
TO SPRAY WATER IN AN EFFORT TO
PREVENT FLARE-UPS, THE REFINERY
PARKING LOT SITS LARGELY EMPTY.
YESTERDAY'S FLAMES SHOT INTO THE
AIR AFTER AN EXPLOSION THAT
ROCKED THE CITY.
>> IF YOU STOOD ON THE STEPS YOU
COULD SEE THE FLAMES AS WELL
THROUGH THE TREES.
>> Reporter: GORDON DAIZELL
LIVES HALF A KILOMETRE AWAY.
HE'S AN ENVIRONMENTAL ACTIVIST
AND FOR YEARS SAT ON IRVING
OIL'S COMMUNITY LIAISON
COMMITTEE.
>> IF I HAD TO MAKE A DECISION
WOULD WE MOVE HERE, I DON'T
THINK SO.
>> Reporter: DAIZELL MOVED
INTO THE NEIGHBOURHOOD IN 1979.
THE REFINERY WAS HERE THEN TOO
BUT IT HAS SINCE EXPANDED
SIGNIFICANTLY.
THERE'S A SIMILAR SITUATION IN
REGINA WHERE THE COMPLEX IS ALSO
SITUATED NEAR A RESIDENTIAL
NEIGHBOURHOOD.
>> A LOT OF ATTENTION HAS BEEN
ON THE TRANSPORT OF OIL BY RAIL,
MARINE TRANSPORT, AND PIPELINE,
OF COURSE.
BUT REFINERY SAFETY, BECAUSE THE
INCIDENTS ARE RELATIVELY
INFREQUENT, IT DOESN'T GET A LOT
OF ATTENTION.
>> Reporter: BUT SEAN TUCKER
WHO RISEARCHES REFINERY SAFETY,
SAYS THAT EXPLOSIONS AT CANADIAN
REFINERIES ARE HAPPENING MORE
OFTEN, PARTLY DUE TO AGING
INFRASTRUCTURE.
>> IT'S PROBLEMATIC BECAUSE OVER
TIME IT CAN LEAD TO HOLES IN THE
PIPING AND GASES OR LIQUIDS
ESCAPING.
IF THERE'S AN IGNITION SOURCE
YOU CAN HAVE A POTENTIAL FOR
CATASTROPHIC EXPLOSION.
>> Reporter: TUCKER ALSO SAYS
THAT REFINERIES NEED TO
COMMUNICATE OPENLY WITH
>> Reporter: TUCKER ALSO SAYS
THAT REFINERIES NEED TO
COMMUNICATE OPENLY WITH
COMMUNITIES.
DAIZELL SAYS SO DO THE EMERGENCY
MANAGEMENT OFFICIALS.
>> PEOPLE WERE GETTING ANXIOUS
AND CONCERNED AND
D.M.O. HAS TO IMPROVE,
SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVE, THEIR
COMMUNICATION STRATEGIES.
>> Reporter: HE AND MANY
OTHERS SAY THAT THE INFORMATION
FLOW WAS TOO SLOW.
>> CITIZENS HAVE SPOKEN LOUDLY
THAT THERE WERE GAPS IN THEIR
VIEW ON COMMUNICATION AND I
AGREE.
IT WILL BE REVIEWED.
>> Reporter: AS FOR GORDON
DAIZELL HE SAYS HE'S NOT MOVING
NO MATTER THE RISK.
KAYLA HOUNSELL, CBC NEWS, SAINT
JOHN.
>> Ian: TURNING TO THE U.S. NOW
WE'RE TRACKING A MAJOR STORM
THAT IS ABOUT TO MAKE LANDFALL.
HURRICANE MICHAEL DEVELOPED
QUICKLY AND IT IS GAINING
STRENGTH.
IT'S SPINNING OVER THE WARM
WATERS OF THE GULF OF MEXICO,
PICKING UP STEAM AND IT'S
EXPECTED TO SLAM INTO THE
FLORIDA PANHANDLE AS POTENTIALLY
A CATEGORY 4 TOMORROW.
RENÉE FILIPPONE IS TRACKING THIS
STORM FOR US THIS EVENING.
RENEE, TELL US WHAT MAKES
MICHAEL SO DANGEROUS.
>> Reporter: WELL, IAN, A
STORM OF THIS SIZE IN THIS PART
OF FLORIDA IS PRETTY RARE.
ONLY THREE MAJOR HURRICANES HAVE
HIT THE PANHANDLE SINCE 1950.
THE LAST ONE BEING DENNIS IN
2005 WHEN 88 PEOPLE DIED.
SO OFFICIALS ARE UNDERSTANDABLY
CONCERNED AND ARE URGING PEOPLE
TO LISTEN TO WARNINGS, TO LEAVE
OR TO GET PREPARED.
PINEAPPLE WILLIES WAS CLOSED
TODAY BUT EMPLOYEES WERE HARD AT
WORK.
>> WE'RE JUST TRYING TO GET ALL
OF THE WINDOWS AND STUFF BOARDED
UP, GET THE SHUTTERS ON, TURN
ALL OF THE GAS AND STUFF OFF.
>> Reporter: THE RESTAURANT
SITS ON THE BEACH RIGHT IN THE
PATH OF HURRICANE MICHAEL.
>> THIS ONE KIND OF CAME UP OUT
OF NOWHERE AND NO ONE REALLY
TALKED ABOUT IT UNTIL YESTERDAY
IT SEEMED LIKE.
SO, I THINK THAT PEOPLE ARE
TAKING IT SERIOUSLY.
>> Reporter: MICHAEL COULD
BRING WINDS UP TO 177 km/h,
DUMPING UP TO 30 cm OF RAIN
AND CAUSE A STORM SURGE OF
NEARLY FOUR METRES.
>> THAT MEANS THAT THE WATER
WILL COME MILES IN SHORE AND
COULD EASILY BE OVER THE ROOF OF
HOUSES.
THINK ABOUT THAT.
>> Reporter: OFFICIALS ARE
EXPECTING A LOT OF DAMAGE AND
WIDESPREAD POWER OUTAGES.
AT LEAST 120,000 PEOPLE HAVE
BEEN TOLD TO LEAVE AND MILLIONS
MORE IN FLORIDA AND NEIGHBOURING
STATES ARE ON ALERT.
>> THIS IS NOT ABOUT POLITICS.
I LOVE MY FAMILY AND I LOVE ALL
OF THE FAMILIES IN THE STATE SO
I WILL DO WHATEVER I CAN TO GET
PEOPLE SAFE.
>> Reporter: THOSE WHO AREN'T
LEAVING ARE PREPARING TO WAIT
OUT THE STORM.
>> WE OPENED UP AT 6:00 AND BY
6:15 WE HAD SOLD EVERY GENERATOR
THAT WE HAD.
>> Reporter: AT GAS PUMPS AND
GROCERY STORES THE LINEUPS WERE
TOO LONG FOR SOME.
>> THE PUMPS ARE COVERED WITH
BAGS.
WALMART IS EMPTY WITH
WATER SO IT'S JUST EASIER TO
STAY.
>> Reporter: WITH MICHAEL
CLOSING IN, TIME IS RUNNING OUT.
NOT JUST TO PREPARE BUT TO GET
OUT.
>> Ian: RENEE, I'M SURE THAT A
LOT OF PEOPLE ARE WONDERING HOW
THIS COMPARES TO THE OTHER MAJOR
HURRICANE OF THE YEAR --
FLORENCE?
>> Reporter: WELL, FLORENCE,
DESPITE ALL OF THE FORECASTS
ACTUALLY ENDED UP WEAKENING
BEFORE IT HIT THE COAST.
THAT DOESN'T
APPEAR TO BE THE CASE WITH
MICHAEL.
OFFICIALS ARE EXPECTING THE
DAMAGE, ESPECIALLY TO POWER
GRIDS, TO BE EVEN WORSE.
AND KEEP IN MIND, IAN, WHEN THIS
STORM MOVES NORTH IT WILL HIT
NORTH CAROLINA WHICH IS STILL
DEALING WITH THE CLEANUP FROM
FLORENCE.
>> Ian: RENEE, THANK YOU.
>> Reporter: YOU'RE WELCOME.
(*)
>> Adrienne: SOME OTHER
STORIES THAT WE ARE FOLLOWING
TONIGHT ON "THE NATIONAL,"
STARTING IN WASHINGTON WITH THE
SPECULATION OVER WHO WILL
REPLACE NIKKI HALEY AT THE U.N.
>> IT WAS A BLESSING TO GO INTO
THE U.N. WITH BODY ARMOUR EVERY
DAY AND DEFEND AMERICA.
I'LL ALWAYS DO THAT.
I'LL NEVER TRULY STEP ASIDE OF
FIGHTING FOR OUR COUNTRY BUT I
WILL TELL YOU THAT I THINK THAT
IT'S TIME.
>> Adrienne: HALEY ANNOUNCED
THAT SHE WILL LEAVE THE POST AS
U.S. AMBASSADOR BY THE END OF
THE YEAR.
SHE SAYS SHE HAS NO PLANS TO RUN
FOR OFFICE IN 2020 AND WILL
CAMPAIGN FOR TRUMP.
NOW TRUMP SAYS THAT HE ALREADY
HAS A SHORTLIST OF POSSIBLE
CONTENDERS TO REPLACE HER,
INCLUDING THE FORMER DEPUTY
NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISOR DINA
POWELL.
>>> EMERGENCY CREWS IN B.C. ARE
WORKING ON A GAS LINE EXPLOSION
NORTHWEST OF PRINCE GEORGE
TONIGHT.
THE BLAZE STARTED BURNING AROUND
SHELLEY, SENDING FLAMES HIGH
INTO THE AIR.
A NEARBY FIRST NATION HAS BEEN
EVACUATED.

NAHLAH AYED TAKES AN IN-DEPTH
LOOK AT WHAT HAS AND HAS NOT

>> Rosemary: FIRST THOUGH,
TAYLOR SWIFT TAKES A POLITICAL
STAND.
COULD THE POWER OF A POP STAR
SWAY THE MIDTERM ELECTIONS?

SHE POSTED ON INSTAGRAM THAT
SHE'D BE VOTING FOR THE
DEMOCRATIC
CANDIDATE IN TENNESSEE AND
REMINDED HER FANS TO REGISTER TO
VOTE.
UNLIKE HERE IN CANADA WHERE YOU
CAN WALK IN AND REGISTER ON
VOTING DAY, THE DEADLINE FOR
TENNESSEE AND NEARLY A DOZEN
OTHER STATES WAS TODAY.
SWIFT'S MESSAGE SEEMS TO HAVE
GIVEN REGISTRATION A HUGE BUMP
BUT AS STEVEN D'SOUZA EXPLAINS,
WE'LL HAVE TO SEE IF THAT STAR
POWER IS ENOUGH TO GET THEM TO
THE POLLS.
>> Reporter: UNTIL THIS
WEEKEND TAYLOR SWIFT HAD USED
HER STAGE TO TALK ABOUT
BREAK-UPS AND BOYFRIENDS.
BUT WHEN SHE PUT OUT A POLITICAL
CALL TO TENS OF MILLIONS OF HER
FANS IT SIGNALLED A SHIFT INTO A
NEW ARENA.
>> TO SEE SUCH A BOLD AND
LENGTHY STATEMENT WAS SORT OF A
HALLELUJAH MOMENT AS A TAYLOR
SWIFT FAN.
>> Reporter: IT WAS A MOMENT
THAT SOME REPUBLICANS, INCLUDING
THE PRESIDENT, USED TO ATTACK
THE POP STAR AS ANOTHER
OUT-OF-TOUCH ELITE.
>> President Donald Trump:
LET'S SAY THAT I LIKE TAYLOR'S
MUSIC ABOUT 25% LESS NOW, OKAY?
>> Reporter: FORMER ARKANSAS
GOVERNOR MIKE HUCKABEE
SAID IT WON'T MATTER UNLESS WE
ALLOW 13-YEAR-OLD GIRLS TO VOTE.
WITH A CAREER IN POP MUSIC
SPANNING MORE THAN A DECADE AND
WITH THREE TIMES MORE FOLLOWERS
THAN DONALD TRUMP ON TWITTER AND
INSTAGRAM, EXPERTS SAY THAT
CRITICS DISMISS HER AUDIENCE AT
THEIR PERIL.
>> IF SOMEBODY WAS 8 YEARS OLD
AGO 10 YEARS AGO LISTENING TO
TAYLOR SWIFT, THEY'RE 18 NOW AND
THEIR FIRST CHANCE TO VOTE.
>> Reporter: SINCE SUNDAY
VOTE.ORG, A NONPARTISAN GROUP
PROMOTING VOTER TURNOUT, SAYS
THAT 230,000
PEOPLE HAVE REGISTERED.
MORE THAN 60% OF THEM WERE UNDER
THE AGE OF 30.
WHETHER THAT WILL TRANSLATE INTO
VOTES IS HARD TO SAY.
ONLY ABOUT 23% OF YOUNG VOTERS
TURNED UP FOR THE LAST MIDTERM
ELECTION.
AND WHILE SWIFT'S NEMESIS, KAYNE
WEST, IS TELLING WHOMEVER WILL
LISTEN THAT HE SUPPORTS TRUMP
AND PLANS TO VISIT THE WHITE
HOUSE LATER THIS WEEK THIS
MARKETING EXPERT SAYS WHAT THE
POP STAR DID IS MORE VALUABLE
BECAUSE UNLIKE KAYNE THAT SHE'S
KEPT SILENT UNTIL NOW.
>> THE FACT THAT SHE HASN'T BEEN
KNOWN TO DO IT BEFORE IS
PROBABLY THE MOST CRITICAL
BECAUSE IT'S A SURPRISE.
>> Reporter: THE RACE WHICH IS
HIGHLIGHTED IN TENNESSEE IS ONE
OF THE CLOSEST IN THE COUNTRY.
ANALYSTS WILL WATCH TO SEE IF
THE DEMOCRAT THERE WILL GET A
BUMP AND TO SEE IF TAYLOR SWIFT
REALLY IS IN TUNE WITH VOTERS.
STEVEN D'SOUZA, CBC NEWS, NEW
YORK.
>> Ian: UP NEXT ON "THE
NATIONAL," A LOOK INSIDE OF
MYANMAR A YEAR AFTER ROHINGYA
MUSLIMS WERE FORCED TO FLEE.
>> Reporter: YOU PREFER TO
STAY THERE THAN TO COME HERE?
(*)
>> Ian: ONE YEAR AGO THE CBC'S
NAHLAH AYED AND HER TEAM WERE IN
BANGLADESH AS THE ROHINGYA
CRISIS WAS UNFOLDING.
HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF
ROHINGYA REFUGEES WERE FLEEING
VIOLENCE IN MYANMAR, WHAT THE
U.N. CALLS ETHNIC CLEANSING AND
CANADIAN LAWMAKERS SAY WAS A
GENOCIDE.
NOW ONE YEAR LATER CBC NEWS HAS
GAINED RARE ACCESS INSIDE OF
MYANMAR ITSELF.
WE'RE THE ONLY CANADIAN NEWS
ORGINISATION TO TRAVEL TO RAKIND
STATE AS A GOVERNMENT TOUR.
IT WAS A WHIRLWIND TRIP TIGHTLY
CONTROLLED BUT THERE WAS NO
MISTAKING WHAT THE CREW FOUND.
BUT SOMETHING UNSPEAKABLE HAD
TRANSPIRED.
HERE'S NAHLAH ON WHAT SHE SAW
THEN AND NOW.
>> Reporter: WE LAST LEFT THEM
PERCHED AT WHAT SEEMED LIKE THE
EDGE OF THE WORLD.
UNLUCKY TO BE STUCK IN NO MAN'S
LAND
FROM THE BANGLADESH SIDE OF THE
BORDER WITH MYANMAR.
STUNNED BY THE VIOLENCE AND THE
SCALE OF IT.
A MAN SPEAKING, MOHAMMED, IS
EVEN AFRAID TO SHOW HIS
FACE.
>> I DON'T WANT TO STAY HERE.
I WANT TO GO BACK AS SOON AS
POSSIBLE.
I APPEAL TO THE WORLD BODY TO DO
MORE AND MORE PRESSURE TO STOP
GENOCIDE ON ROHINGYAS.
>> Reporter: A YEAR LATER
WE'RE IN MYANMAR AND GENOCIDE IS
A WORD FAR MORE READILY USED
ABROAD TO DESCRIBE WHAT HAPPENED
TO ROHINGYA MUSLIMS HERE.
MYANMAR REJECTING THE CHARGE AND
REFUSING OUTSIDE INVESTIGATORS.
THEY TELL AN ALTERNATIVE VERSION
OF THE STORY.
PARTLY THROUGH CONTROLLED ACCESS
TO RAKHINE STATE WHERE THE
ATROCITIES UNFOLDED.
WE TOO WERE INVITED TO VISIT,
ESCORTED BY THE MINISTRY
INFORMATION OFFICIALS.
CAN WE SPEND JUST A LITTLE BIT
MORE TIME THEN?
WE ASKED TO SEE SPECIFIC
VILLAGES.
THEY INSISTED THAT THE AGENDA
WAS SET AND DON'T ASK THE
DRIVERS TO STOP.
IT IS A LONG WAY TO THE NORTHERN
RAKIND AND WE ARE LATE.
A YEAR AND HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS
OF REFUGEES LATER.
BUT BY SEEING EVEN GLIMPSES WE
MIGHT STILL GAIN INSIGHT.
IT'S NOT PERFECT WEATHER TODAY,
LIGHTNING AND RAIN AND
THUNDERSTORMS.
IT WOULD HAVE BEEN SOMETHING
LIKE THIS ALMOST EXACTLY A YEAR
AGO WHEN THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE
WERE TRYING TO GET FROM MYANMAR
TO BANGLADESH IN WATERS NOT FAR
FROM HERE.
IT'S NO WONDER THAT SO MANY OF
THEM DIED AT SEA.
IMMEDIATELY STRIKING AS WE DRIVE
NORTH INTO THE KILLING ZONE, THE
HAUNTING HINTS OF THE RAZED
ROHINGYA MUSLIM VILLAGES THAT
REMAIN.
LOOK AT THAT RIGHT THERE.
IT'S WHAT LOOKS LIKE COCONUT
TREES BUT IT'S HAD THEIR TOPS
TAKEN OFF.
THERE'S A FEW MORE HERE.
AND WHAT WE HAVE BEEN TOLD IS
THAT THOSE ARE THE REMNANTS OF
VILLAGES THAT HAVE BEEN BURNED.
WOW, LOOK AT THAT.
WOW, ACTUALLY MORE.
AS WE SPEED BY ONE VILLAGE, WE
COULD ONLY IDENTIFY WITH THE
HELP OF A MAP PHONE APP.
HUMAN RIGHTS WATCH SAYS THAT 700
BUILDINGS WERE BURNED DOWN HERE
IN A SYSTEMIC CAMPAIGN.
THERE'S NOTHING LEFT TO COME
BACK TO.
AND ALSO STRIKING A LOT OF
BUILDING IS GOING ON.
AS THE ACKNOWLEDGED SITE OF A
MASSACRE, THE VILLAGE OF INN DIN
BECAME A
PECULIAR PLACE FOR A FIRST
START.
BURNED ARE MOSTLY THE MUSLIM
SECTIONS.
THE REST LEFT INTACT.
NOT A SINGLE ROHINGYA MUSLIM
RESIDENT IS LEFT.
>> [speaking foreign
language].
>> Reporter: AND THEY'RE
PROBABLY NOT COMING BACK SAYS
THE VILLAGE ADMINISTRATOR.
HE SAYS THAT THE NEW HOMES ARE
FOR NEW RAKHINE AND HINDU
RESIDENTS.
THE REVELATION OF THE MASSACRE
AND THE MASS GRAVES HERE LED TO
PRISON SENTENCES FOR SEVEN
BURMESE SOLDIERS INVOLVED BUT
ALSO FOR THE REUTERS JOURNALIST
WHO INVESTIGATED IT.
THERE IS NOTHING LEFT, ANY KIND
OF EVIDENCE, THAT ANYTHING
UNTOWARD HAPPENED HERE.
AND, FURTHERMORE, PEOPLE HERE
ESSENTIALLY SAYING THEY DON'T
KNOW IF THERE WAS A MASSACRE.
AN OLDER COUPLE FINALLY LET US
IN.
SHE HAD A TEA SHOP WHERE THE
MUSLIM KIDS ALSO HUNG OUT.
SHE SAID THEY WARNED HER ABOUT
AN IMPENDING ATTACK.
SHE USES A DEROGATORY NAME FOR
MUSLIMS.
>> [speaking foreign language]
RAKHINE BUDDHISTS KILLING IS ONE
OUT OF HUNDREDS.
THE DIFFERENCE IS THAT RAKHINE
BUDDHISTS
ARE KIND AND FEEL FOR OTHERS,
SHE SAID.
SO MANY MORE QUESTIONS.
BUT IT WAS TIME TO GO.
A LONG RIDE DOWN THE ROAD.
THE DISTRICT OF MAUNGDAW, ONCE
OVERWHELMINGLY ROHINGYA.
NOW A MILLION OF THEM ARE SIMPLY
GONE.
>> [speaking foreign
language].
>> Reporter: LOCAL OFFICIALS
CALL THEM BENGALY AND THEY TELL
US THAT THEY'RE WORKING AND
REBUILDING TO BRING THEM BACK.
THEY REJECT ACCUSATIONS OF
GENOCIDE OR ETHNIC CLEANSING IN
THEIR MIDST.
>> [speaking foreign
language].
>> Reporter: FOR ME I DON'T
BELIEVE IT, SAYS U YE HTOO, THE
MAUNGDAW DISTRICT DEPUTY
DIRECTOR.
IT WAS THE TERRORIST GROUP HE
SAYS, KNOWN AS ARSA,
THE ROHINGYA SALVATION ARMY.
HE LATER SHOWED A VIDEO THAT HE
SAYS IS PROOF.
IF THERE'S A GENOCIDE GOING ON
HOW COME MUSLIMS ARE STILL HERE,
SAYS THIS OFFICIAL.
THEY ALSO BLAMED THE GROUP FOR
PREVENTING ROHINGYA FROM COMING
BACK.
NO ONE MENTIONS THE RESISTANCE
IN SOME PARTS HERE TO SUCH
RETURNS.
>> [speaking foreign
language].
>> Reporter: WE'RE INTRODUCED
TO THIS MAN AND HIS FAMILY.
HE SAID HE RETURNED ON FOOT FROM
BANGLADESH AND HE ECHOES THE
LOCAL OFFICIALS.
WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO TELL YOUR
STORY?
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
>> [speaking foreign
language].
>> Reporter: MY PROPERTIES AND
MY HOUSE WERE BURNT, HE SAYS.
WE'RE LIVING LIKE BEGGARS.
I WAS SO ANGRY AND IT HAPPENED
BECAUSE OF ARSA.
THAT'S WHY I'M TALKING TO THE
MEDIA SO
THAT THE WORLD KNOWS.
>> Reporter: THE NEXT DAY
AFTER SEVERAL HOURS ON BUMPY
ROADS, WE ARRIVE AT THAT BORDER.
HERE THEY SAY IS THE PROOF OF
MYANMAR'S COMMITMENT TO
REPATRIATING ROHINGYA.
A RECEPTION CENTRE READY TO
WELCOME US.
BUT THERE ARE NONE FOR US TO
MEET.
ONLY 171 PEOPLE HAVE RETURNED
SINCE IT OPENED IN JANUARY.
NEARLY A MILLION WAIT IN
BANGLADESH IN WHAT HAS BECOME
THE WORLD'S LARGEST REFUGEE
CAMP.
OFFICIALS HERE AGAIN BLAME ARSA
AND ODDLY BANGLADESH.
IN A NEW REPORT THE UNHCR SAYS
THAT THE CONDITIONS ARE NOT YET
IN PLACE FOR A SAFE DIGNIFIED
RETURN.
(*)
AT THE SO-CALLED ZERO LINE WE
HAVE THE CHANCE TO ASK WHY.
IT'S THAT SAME CAMP THAT WE
VISITED A YEAR AGO.
THIS TIME FROM THE OTHER SIDE OF
THE BORDER.
IT'S GROWN FROM ABOUT A THOUSAND
TO 5,000 PEOPLE.
MOHAMMED IS STILL HERE AND HE NO
LONGER HIDES HIS FACE AND STILL
WANTS TO GO HOME.
YOU PREFER TO STAY THERE THAN TO
COME HERE?
CRUCIAL TO THAT HE SAYS THERE
MUST BE A
TRIAL AT THE INTERNATIONAL
CRIMINAL COURT.
AND WILL THEY HAVE SOMETHING TO
COME BACK TO?
CITIZENSHIP?
THE VILLAGES?
FREE MOVEMENT?
OR HAS THEIR EXPULSION BEEN
CEMENTED ON THE GROUND?
WHY DO YOU THINK THAT THE
GOVERNMENT IS BRINGING THE MEDIA
HERE TO MEET YOU GUYS?
>> I THINK YOU ARE NOT FREE, YOU
ARE NOT INDEPENDENT.
YOU ARE ORGANIZED BY THE
GOVERNMENT.
>> Reporter: IT'S TIME TO GO
AGAIN.
>> PLEASE TAKE A SEAT AND WE GO.
>> Reporter: IT'S A VERY LONG
WAY TO GO TO GET TO THE OTHER
SIDE OF THE FENCE ONE YEAR LATER
AND THE IRONY OF BEING TOLD THAT
THE CONFLICT ENDS, THAT ON THIS
TOUR THAT WE ARE NOT FREE MEDIA.
BUT WE HAVE SEEN GLIMPSES OF A
TROUBLED REGION FUNDAMENTALLY
TRANSFORMED.
THE PALPABLE ABSENCE IN MAN'S
ACCOUNTABILITY.
NAHLAH AYED, CBC NEWS, AT THE
MYANMAR-BANGLADESH BORDER.
>> Ian: NAHLAHA JOINING US NOW.
SHE'S IN OUR BUREAU IN LONDON.
WE HEARD THE SPECIAL ENVOY
REPERTOIRE FOR
MYANMAR SAYING THAT THE COUNTRY
IS UNABLE TO UNWILLING TO
INVESTIGATE WHAT HAPPENED IN
RAKHINE STATE BUT THAT THE
INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY HAS TO
STEP UP.
AND HOW IS THE IDEA OF AN
OUTSIDE INVESTIGATION BEING
RECEIVED IN MYANMAR?
>> Reporter: WELL, NOT VERY
WARMLY, IAN.
I HAD A CHANCE TO SPEAK TO
PROFESSOR AUNG THET WHO IS THE
HEAD
OF A PRIVATE PUBLIC ORGINISATION
HEADED BY AUNG SAN SUU KYI WHICH
IS TASKED WITH HELPING RAKHINE
STATE TO GET PAST THIS CRISIS.
HE SAYS THAT MYANMAR'S OWN
INVESTIGATION IS ENOUGH TO
SATISFY THEIR CONCERNS.
>> WE WOULD NOT DO IT IF THERE'S
INTERNATIONAL PRESSURE.
WE WOULD DO IT BECAUSE IT'S
NEEDED.
IT WOULD BE ON OUR TERMS AND AT
OUR PACE, AND WHATEVER WE THINK
SUITS THE WHOLE NATION.
>> Ian: SO WHY IS THERE SO MUCH
SKEPTICISM ABOUT THEIR ABILITY
TO DO THIS?
>> Reporter: WELL, IT HAS A
LOT TO DO WITH PAST EXPERIENCE.
NICHOLAS BEQUELIN, WHO IS THE
EAST ASIA DIRECTOR AT AMNESTY
INTERNATIONAL, USES WORDS
LIKE "ZERO CREDIBILITY" IN
DESCRIBING MYANMAR'S ABILITY TO
INVESTIGATE ALONE.
HERE'S WHAT HE HAD TO SAY...
>> MYANMAR HAS A HISTORY OF
SETTING UP THIS INVESTIGATIVE
COMMISSIONS AND NONE OF THEM
HAVE YIELDED ANY KIND OF
RESULTS.
WE ALSO HAVE TO REMEMBER THAT
OTHER THE MYANMAR CONSTITUTION
THAT THE MILITARY IS ABOVE THE
LAW AND ABOVE THIS TYPE OF
INVESTIGATION BY CIVILIAN BODY.
SO FROM THE GET-GO IT'S
BASICALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO
INVESTIGATE WHAT HAS HAPPENED.
>> Reporter: IAN, I SHOULD
ALSO ADD THAT THE GOVERNMENT IS
ALLOWING ACCESS TO NORTHERN
RAKHINE STATE BUT WHEN THEY
HAVE, AS YOU HAVE SEEN, IT'S
USUALLY BEEN QUITE CONTROLLED.
IT'S NOT FOR EVERYBODY.
THE U.N. SPECIAL REPERTOIRE ON
HUMAN RIGHTS IN MYANMAR HAS
NEVER BEEN ALLOWED IN THE
COUNTRY AT ALL.
IAN?
>> Ian: NAHLAH, THANK YOU.
>> Reporter: YOU'RE WELCOME.
>> Ian: AND NAHLAH WILL CONTINUE
HER COVERAGE TOMORROW WITH A
STORY THAT HAS BEEN
MOSTLY OVERLOOKED OVER THE PAST
YEAR -- THE WRETCHED LIVES OF
ROHINGYA MUSLIMS WHO REMAIN IN
MYANMAR.
>> FOOD SECURITY, THEIR ABILITY
TO WORK IN THE FIELDS, THEIR
ABILITY TO FARM, THEIR ABILITY
TO GO FISHING, MUST BE WORSE
THAN IT WAS BEFORE.
I'M CONCERNED THAT WE'RE -- THAT
THERE'S A HIDDEN HUMANITARIAN
CRISIS HAPPENING, THAT WE'RE
UNABLE TO MEASURE.
>> Ian: THAT IS TOMORROW ON "THE
NATIONAL."
>> Adrienne: STILL AHEAD
TONIGHT ON "THE NATIONAL"...
AFTER DIGGING INTO THE HISTORY
OF ONE OF THE SUSPECTS IN THE
SKRIPAL POISONING, NEW DETAILS
REVEAL A CONNECTION TO RUSSIAN
INTELLIGENCE AND TO VLADIMIR
PUTIN.
>> HE WAS LYING TO EVERYBODY
WHEN HE SAYS THAT HE IS SURE
THAT THESE PEOPLE HAVE NOTHING
TO DO WITH THE MINISTER OF
DEFENCE AND THEY DIDN'T DO
ANYTHING CRIMINAL.
>> Rosemary: FIRST THOUGH A
PREVIEW OF AN INTERVIEW THAT
YOU'LL SEE -- HEY THAT GUY --
THAT YOU'LL
SEE TOMORROW NIGHT ON "THE
NATIONAL."
TAKE A LOOK... JEAN CHRETIEN IS
84 YEARS OLD NOW AND BEEN OUT OF
POLITICS FOR 15 YEARS BUT HE
DOESN'T MISS A BEAT.
>> A LOT OF PEOPLE LAUGH WHEN
YOU MENTION THAT NAME.
>> Rosemary: WE MET UP TO TALK
ABOUT A NEW BOOK, A REFLECTION
OF HIS LIFE IN POLITICS FROM
NAFTA...
>> THEY CHANGED THE NAME.
THAT IS A HUGE VICTORY.
>> Rosemary: TO THE
NOTWITHSTANDING CLAUSE...
>> THE NOTWITHSTANDING CLAUSE IS
IMPORTANT BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO
DECLARE THAT YOU'RE
DISCRIMINATING.
>> Rosemary: TO THE
LEGALIZATION OF CANNABIS.
MARIJUANA IS ABOUT TO BE
LEGALIZED?
>> I NEVER TASTED THAT I DON'T
KNOW.
I DON'T HAVE A CLUE ABOUT IT.
>> Rosemary: MY CONVERSATION
WITH JEAN CHRETIEN, THAT IS
TOMORROW NIGHT ON "THE
NATIONAL."
(*)
(*)
>> OH, MY GOD.
OH, MY GOD.
>> HELP!
HELP!
>> Rosemary: ON "THE NATIONAL"
TONIGHT THE HUSBAND OF A WOMAN
KILLED IN A HOUSE EXPLOSION IN
KITCHENER, ONTARIO, HAS NOW BEEN
CHARGED WITH FIRST-DEGREE MURDER
MURDER.
58-YEAR-OLD EDRA HAAN'S BODY WAS
FOUND IN THE BACKYARD AFTER THE
BLAST IN AUGUST.
HER HUSBAND, UDO HAAN
IS STILL IN HOSPITAL WITH
CRITICAL INJURIES.
>> GO, GO, GO...
>> Rosemary: AFTER A WEEK OF
CONTROVERSY QUÉBEC'S INCOMING
GOVERNMENT LOOKS OPEN TO A
COMPROMISE ON LAWS AROUND
RELIGIOUS SYMBOLS.
LAST WEEK THE C.A.Q. SAID THEY
WERE PREPARED TO FIRE OR FIND
NEW JOBS FOR TEACHERS OR PUBLIC
EMPLOYEES WHO WOULD NOT REMOVE
RELIGIOUS SYMBOLS.
THAT ANNOUNCEMENT WAS MET BY
PROTEST.
AND TODAY THE C.A.Q. SAID THEY'D
CONSIDER A CLAUSE TO ALLOW
CURRENT PUBLIC SERVANTS TO
CONTINUE WEARING THEIR RELIGIOUS
SYMBOLS BUT NOT NEW HIRES.
THE PARTY ALSO SAID TODAY THAT
THE CRUCIFIX WHICH WAS HUNG
INSIDE OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY
SINCE 1936 WOULD REMAIN.
>> Adrienne: INVESTIGATIVE
JOURNALISTS IN BRITAIN AND
RUSSIA SAY THEY HAVE UNCOVERED
MORE EVIDENCE THAT VLADIMIR
PUTIN LIED ABOUT RUSSIA'S
INVOLVEMENT IN AN ASSASSINATION
ATTEMPT LAST MARCH.
NEW DETAILS FOCUS ON ONE OF THE
TWO MEN WHO ALLEGEDLY POISONED
SERGEI SKRIPAL AND HIS DAUGHTER
YULIA IN SALISBURY, ENGLAND.
THE CBC'S CHRIS BROWN SHOWS US
HOW INVESTIGATORS UNCOVERED
THEIR TRUE IDENTITY.
>> [speaking foreign
language].
>> Reporter: THAT CLUMSY
INTERVIEW WITH THE TWO ALLEGED
RUSSIAN ASSASSINS INSISTED THEY
WERE JUST TOURISTS KEEPS COMING
BACK TO HAUNT THEM.
THEY'RE PROVIDING INVESTIGATIVE
JOURNALISTS SUCH AS ROMAN
DOBROKHOTOV WITH ALL KINDS OF
LEADS.
HIS MOSCOW-BASED PUBLICATION
"THE INSIDER" PORED THROUGH
PUBLIC DATABASES AND LEARNED
THAT THE SUSPECTED POISONER
ALEXANDER PETROV IS REALLY
ALEXANDER MISHKIN, A MEDICAL
DEAR WITH THE
G.R.U.
>> I SAY THAT MOST CRITICALLY HE
IS A HERO OF RUSSIA WHICH IS THE
HIGHEST HONOUR HE CAN GET IN THE
MILITARY.
AND HE WAS HANDLED THIS STAR
ALLEGEDLY BY VLADIMIR PUTIN.
>> Reporter: ROMAN
DOBROKHOTOV'S TEAM SPOKE TO
PEOPLE IN MISHKIN'S HOMETOWN WHO
CLAIM THAT HIS GRANDMOTHER LIKES
TO SHOW OFF A PHOTO OF MISHKIN
WITH VLADIMIR PUTIN.
>> THAT MEANS THAT HE WAS LYING
TO EVERYBODY WHEN HE SAYS THAT
HE IS SURE THAT THESE PEOPLE
HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE
MINISTER OF DEFENCE AND THEY
DIDN'T DO ANYTHING CRIMINAL.
>> Reporter: BRITISH
JOURNALIST ELLIOTT HIGGINS WHOSE
PUBLICATION BELLINGCAT EARLIER
OUTED HIS PARTNER AS A COLONEL,
SAID THAT SINCE
NOVICHOK WAS USED TO TRY TO KILL
THE SKRIPALS MAYBE THEY THOUGHT
IT WAS A GOOD SYMBOL FOR A
DOCTOR.
FOR A SECRETIVE AGENCY THE
G.R.U. HAS HAD EMBARRASSING
BLUNDERS OF LATE.
AGENTS' NAMES AND PASSPORT
NUMBERS AND LICENCE PLATES OF
HUNDREDS OF EMPLOYEES ARE ALL
PUBLISHED BY JOURNALISTS.
BUT IN RUSSIA TAKING ON THE
G.R.U. AND THE KREMLIN COMES
WITH A RISK.
ARE YOU AFRAID YOU COULD BE
ARRESTED OR WORSE?
>> WELL, WE THINK THAT THIS RISK
IS POSSIBLE, ACTUALLY, WHEN I
WAS VISITING BRITAIN TWO WEEKS
AGO AND WHEN I WAS RETURNING
BACK 100% OF THE PEOPLE WHO WERE
TALKING WITH ME TOLD ME THAT I
SHOULDN'T GO BACK TO RUSSIA
BECAUSE IT'S TOO DANGEROUS.
BUT FOR NOW IT'S OKAY.
>> [speaking foreign
language].
>> Reporter: RUSSIAN STATE TV
HAS CHOSEN TO MOSTLY IGNORE ALL
OF THE G.R.U. EMBARRASSMENTS.
TONIGHT THE TALK SHOW PANELISTS
LAUGHED IT ALL OFF, SAYING THAT
YOU CAN FIND ALL KINDS OF
CONSPIRACY THEORIES ON THE
INTERNET.

IT'S LIKE SO GREAT UP THERE.
I CAN'T EVEN EXPLAIN IT.
IT'S SO GREAT UP THERE.

>> YOU SEE THOSE COMMERCIALS
WHERE SOMEBODY THINKS THAT
THEY'RE ITALIAN AND THEY TURN
OUT TO BE SCOTTISH OR WHATEVER.
SO I THOUGHT, WELL, MAYBE WE'LL
GET A BIG SURPRISE TOO.
>> Ian: THAT'S STACEY KENNEDY
AND THIS IS PROBABLY THE
KIND OF SURPRISE THAT SHE WAS
EXPECTING TO FIND WHEN SHE
SIGNED UP FOR
ANCESTRY D.N.A.
>> THROUGH ANCESTRY D.N.A. I
FOUND OUT THAT I WAS ONLY 16%
ITALIAN.
>> Ian: INSTEAD SHE GOT A LOT
MORE THAN SHE BARGAINED FOR.
>> HEY!
>> Ian: THAT'S HER HALF-SISTER
KIM McFARLANE.
THE PAIR ONLY MET RECENTLY AND
DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT EACH OTHER'S
EXISTENCE BEFORE THAT.
>> I WAS JUST STUNNED AND MY
STOMACH DROPPED, SHOCK.
>> I HAD A REALLY HARD TIME
WRAPPING MY HEAD AROUND, OH,
YEAH, I HAVE A HALF-SISTER.
SO THIS WAS LIKE MOM AND DAD'S
FAVOURITE PICTURE.
>> Ian: THERE WAS MORE.
THEY WERE BORN THE SAME YEAR,
JUST FIVE MONTHS APART.
>> I DROPPED A BIG BOMBSHELL.
>> THIS WAS MOM AND DAD'S

>> Ian: FOR NOW IT'S ABOUT
MAKING UP FOR 45 YEARS OF LOST
TIME.
>> IT'S BEEN AWESOME.
>> Rosemary: THESE FOLKS ARE
ABOUT TO TAKE THEIR FIRST STEP
AS CANADIAN CITIZENS, HOPEFULLY
NOT BACKWARDS.
THE CANADIAN GOVERNMENT IS
TAKING THE CEREMONIES TO NEW

REASONS.
IN TORONTO, IT MEANT THE CN

THAT'S OUR "MOMENT OF THE DAY."
>> I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE THAT

IT'S UNFORGETTABLE.
YOU FEEL LIKE A BIRD, ON TOP OF

IT'S AMAZING.
>> I SWEAR.
>> I SWEAR.
>> THAT I WILL BE FAITHFUL.
>> THAT I WILL BE FAITHFUL.
>> I'M SO TRULY HONOURED TO
BECOME, YOU KNOW, BE ABLE TO
CALL MYSELF A CANADIAN.
>> TO BE PART OF THE COMMUNITY,
SO, SO GOOD.
>> I FEEL SO LUCKY, SO, SO
BLESSED.
THIS WILL ALWAYS BE IN MY
MEMORY, OCTOBER 9.
PERFECT
* O CANADA
>> Rosemary: WOW
FIRSTLY, CONGRATULATIONS, BUT
I'M IMAGINING SOMEONE -- BECAUSE
IT'S CITIZENSHIP WEEK SOMEONE AT
HOME ABOUT TO GO THROUGH THE
CEREMONY AND SAYING, MARTHA, WE
SHOULD READ THE FINE PRINT.
IF THAT'S WHAT IT'S GOING TO
TAKE, I'M NOT IN.
>> Rosemary: THEY'RE DOING IT IN
OTHER HIGH PLACES LIKE THE
MONTREAL OLYMPIC STADIUM, SOME
LOOKOUT SPOT IN VANCOUVER, YOU
PROBABLY KNOW, IAN.
BUT LOOKING AT THAT MADE ME
NAUSEOUS, BECAUSE I'M TERRIFIED
OF HEIGHTS.
I WOULD JUST HAVE TO SAY, SORRY,
I CAN'T BE A CITIZEN.
>> Ian: KUDOS TO THE PERSON IN
THE GOVERNMENT THAT SAID, MAKE
CITIZENSHIP DAY OR WEEK
EXCITING.
WE BOUGHT INTO IT WITH THE

HOW IS THAT FOR CANADIAN?
THAT'S "THE NATIONAL" FOR
OCTOBER 9.

Hyungkyu "First, we'll eat corn" LOL [Battle Trip/2018.09.23] - Duration: 10:18.
(You can enjoy the white beauty of winter)
(And the freshness of summer in Hokkaido)
- We have a lot of memories there. / - Wait a minute.
- You've been there twice already? / - Yes.
Only in winter though.
I heard that...
Corn is delicious in summer.
Is corn the best vegetable of your life?
You'll find out when you watch it.
They have different kinds of corn from Korea.
They say it's really good. Also, the dairy products.
- That's right. / - Dairy products are famous there.
Ice cream is delicious there.
- Butter is also delicious. / - Yes, butter.
- I can only think about corn right now. / - Corns?
- I want to eat corn. / - In my case...
And potatoes.
- Hokkaido potatoes are really delicious. / - I heard.
- So... / - There's the Sapporo Beer Festival.
(Let's celebrate the Sapporo Beer Festival)
- Yes. / - Yes.
Let's drink in the daytime.
- In the daytime? / - Is it time for the beer festival?
- It's around this time of the year. / - It's around now.
- It's over now though. / - It's a summer beer festival.
You have to eat a lot of fresh seafood
when you're in Hokkaido.
You have to eat seafood.
We must eat seafood...
Go to the beer festival in the day.
There is so much to eat.
We're coming up with a schedule.
In some ways, my wife...
Always came up with a trip plan until now.
For this trip...
I'll try...
Planning the schedule.
Do you think you will do a good job?
I'll try.
Would you like that?
- Yes. Alright. / - Trust me.
- Good. / - Please plan a good trip.
- Good. / - They're not like a married couple.
- They're not. / - They're like friends.
They're like really old friends.
- Are those comic books? / - Yes, it's my room.
- Are they all comic books? / - Yes.
- He really is an aficionado. / - He really is.
I'm the trip planner of Man Man Tour,
Kim Hyungkyu.
I lost all the data I had.
I'll update the information...
From the comic books.
- Comic books? / - I picked...
The books I'm going to bring...
To the trip.
I got information from the comic books.
He really loves comic books.
Ta-da.
It's a travel guidebook to Hokkaido.
It's from spring, 2015.
Let me cook something delicious.
- Why is he suddenly cooking? / - What is he doing?
Minjae asked me to cook some dumplings.
So I was cooking dumplings.
- Now... / - He looks different in the gown.
- This is your clinic. / - Yes.
You weren't working in the clinic but doing that?
- It was after I dealt with the patients. / - Right.
I was having a break.
Based on the comic books we like,
we're going to have some farm experiences.
These are all 5-seater and 7-seater cars.
On the first day, we'll go drink beer.
I have a feeling that he's plan will be so good.
After drinking beer, we'll go to an observatory.
(During the break at work, he plans the trip)
After the observatory,
if we have enough time, we'll go to a bar.
It sounds like it's mostly about alcohol.
It's perfect. On the second day...
On the second day, we should rent a car.
Did you plan the whole trip alone?
We agreed that I plan the trip this time.
Since you're meticulous.
We'll observe the nature and...
(This is beyond perfect)
It's perfect. It's perfect.
(Man Man Tour, Hokkaido specialty)
(Beer festival)
(Night view)
(Robatayaki)
(Visit to a farm)
What's that? Was it a picture just now?
(Top 3 ramens in Hokkaido)
I want to go back.
When you want to go back,
it means you really had a great time there.
- Ta-da. / - Yes!
We're here.
- We arrived. / - It's Hokkaido.
I'm a little worried
the clothes I brought are not warm enough.
- Was it 21?? / - Will it be cold?
- It was very cool there. / - It was sweltering hot here.
- It was 40??here. / - There was a heat wave here.
It's cold there. It was so different there.
- Let's take the JR Train to the downtown. / - Good.
- I like the JR Train. / - Shall we?
- Let's go. / - Go, go.
That'd be better than taking a car. It takes 1 hour.
- It is. / - There's no traffic jam either.
There's a transportation card called Kitaca card.
You travel faster with it.
After the trip, you can keep it until the next trip.
You can also use it in convenience stores.
We take this JR Train for about 40 minutes.
- That's a quick trip. / - It is.
Let's go.
(It's their first trip alone in 12 years)
It must be nice to ride a train with your partner.
- Right? / - It was really nice.
After 40 minutes, you arrive at Sapporo Station.
- Sapporo. / - Sapporo Station.
We arrived at Sapporo Station.
The weather is so nice.
(The nice weather makes them feel good)
I shouldn't be like this.
- Anyway... / - The weather is nice.
- We're hungry, so... / - Mr. Planner. Yes.
Today, we're going to have a romantic day...
- And eat many different things. / - Romantic?
We're going to have a romantic day while eating a lot?
- Because we love food. / - We do.
- How romantic. / - First, we'll eat corn.
- Corn is the specialty here. / - The reason for our trip.
(Man Man Tour, Hokkaido specialty)
(Sapporo Station)
Do you see that thing on the left?
- It's so cool. / - There's a tower there.
It's the television tower.
It's the television tower of Sapporo.
Do you remember we once took a picture here?
We took a picture in front of the tower.
- We took a picture here. / - We did.
We took that not long after we got married.
- In winter. / - It was winter.
That was early 2007.
You guys look frighteningly the same as now.
You haven't changed.
There's a reason why we came here today.
- There's a reason why... / - Corn.
- Right. / - Corn.
One of the most delicious foods they have here is...
It's corn.
- Corn. / - Corn.
- So... / - There's a corn vendor.
- Hello. / - Hello.
It's somehow...
There are so many tasty-looking things. Look.
There's even a half and half deal.
(She orders in Japanese without any problem)
She looks like a Japanese.
(Half and half, $3.50)
(Potato and corn, $3)
(Grilled corn, $3)
(Total, $9.50)
I actually didn't understand why you would
travel all the way to Japan just for this.
However...
- It looks so good. / - It looks delicious.
- Look at this. / - Let me put this aside.
- Look at the color. / - It looks delicious.
You can tell it's good by the color.
In Korea, we also grow Chodang corn in Haenam.
I think Chodang corn and this corn are related.
It's sweet and crispy.
Let's start with the steamed corn first.
(Steamed corn first to taste the natural flavor)
- This one. / - Let's try...
- The steamed corn. / - We have...
- One each. / - Good.
I think we can make this into one. Hang on a second.
- Hang on. / - She started first.
(I'm already eating)
Is it good?
(She's expressing how good the corn tastes)
- Is it good? / - This is not corn.
Hang on a second. I haven't started yet.
- His face got bigger. / - He's feeling rushed.
Oh, my. I thought he was a squirrel.
- I was... / - My goodness.
- It was so good. / - Really?
I couldn't take my mouth off.
My gosh.
(He's falling because it's so tasty?)
It's amazing.
You can taste the juice of the corn.
It's crispy.
I can't take my mouth off it.
It's like a fruit. The skin is thin and it's crispy.
It's sweet.
Once you start eating it, you can't stop.
- You really like it. / - You spin it like a squirrel.
I don't think I'll be full after eating two of these.
(It's so good that one must eat at least two)
Where is your corn?
This corn is...
It's so shocking. It's a culture shock.
We have something that is called,
"sweet corn" in Korea as well.
But this is so delicious since it's fresh and local.
Shouldn't it be illegal to sell this?
- I want to eat more. / - He thinks it should be illegal.
Let's try this one.
- It's time to try grilled corn. / - Grilled corn.
Is it better steamed or grilled?
It looks so good.
I wonder what sauce they put on.
It's so good by itself.
The thin layer of soy sauce brushed on the corn
makes it nice and salty.
(What is that?)
What is that?
(What?)
Excuse me? Hello?
(She successfully stole the corn)
How is it?
It tastes like scorched rice.
Why?
- His eyes might pop out. / - He can't stop.
It's good, isn't it?
This one tastes different from the one we just had.
(He's enjoying the corn with his whole face)
- It's so good that his face is messy. / - It was so good.
When you eat something really good, you can't speak.
You're right.
It's a shame
you can't experience the taste through the screen.
The corn itself is so good.
When you bite it, it explodes in your mouth.
- Which is very refreshing. / - Exactly.
The burnt flavor from the sauce,
the flavor of scorched rice.
The flavors from the charcoal are combined together.
The sweet corn and the savory sauce...
I see why this is famous in Odori Park.
Since we had food, now we need to drink.
- Something cold. / - Something cold.
- Beer. / - We should drink beer.
- Something cold. / - Beer.
There's a beer festival in this park.
That sounds great.
It's so delicious.
If I travel there, I'll buy corn as soon as I get there.

Choosing faith: A complex diagnosis - Duration: 3:05.
My husband and I have four kids, and our youngest was diagnosed at 16 months with EoE,
which was a condition in which your body rejects food.
For him he had it extremely bad
and so he is mainly getting his nutrition on tube feeds,
which also comes with a whole series of problems.
Of course this was a huge change in our life
but one of the verses that came to me first was in Mark where it says
whoever says to this mountain to be moved and doesn't doubt,
then it will be done.
But what really stuck out to me there was that it says "whoever says,"
and that is my words.
I just realized from early on that
I was just going to speak only good things over the situation,
just thank God for whatever I could thank God for.
I can't just have faith and then walk around complaining
but when I speak good of it, then I receive God's blessings.
Even if it's a really tough situation or maybe humanly it's really hard,
I actually experienced a lot of peace and rest
and I can see God's hand at work there
when I speak in faith and and in good over it.
It was interesting - at the hospital,
one of the first things the doctors told us when he was diagnosed was,
"Don't go home and think things are gonna be the same now.
Everything is gonna be different. Everything is gonna be different."
I was grateful for it because it was definitely the truth,
but I felt kind of a resistance to it at the same time
because I think there can be a spirit of "loss" in that,
like I go home and I've lost something
and I just knew that that wasn't right.
That wasn't right for me from God.
I just really had a determination in my heart that we were gonna go home, and
how I had it in my heart before is going to be the same after.
It was interesting, I was digging through looking for verses
because there's a scripture for everything,
no matter how spiritual or natural.
But a verse that stuck out was one that says
"If you're going for medicine and in a sick situation,"
it says "laughter is like medicine."
I just thought that was extremely interesting that it says
laughter is like medicine.
There's another verse that speaks about either the wife or the mother,
but it says that she laughs at the times to come
and I just thought that's because I have a spirit of hope and I see to the future only
and I just decided no matter ...
It's kind of odd having a sick child and all these new tubes and machines and whatnot
but that we weren't going to lose that joyful, happy spirit in our home
and we were still going to laugh every day
and be just as we were before, if not anything more
because we really needed to hold on to that spirit of joy and hope.
Not only for myself, but for the children
that they don't sense a sense of gloom or doom over the home during this time
but that there is just joy and going forward and total trust in God.

Google Pixel 3 Released! MadebyGoogle 2018 launch (camera, specs, price, Super HDR - Duration: 4:08.
Hello, everyone, I am Odom.
Just earlier Google officially held
#MadebyGoogle 2018's annual presentation
And this time everyone is still looking forward to Google's own son.
By the former HTC Pixel team working with the Google team
The latest masterpiece Pixel 3 series mobile phone
In view of Pixel 3, it is regarded as the only mobile phone in history that does not have confidential work.
Google on Facebook before its official release
Uploaded a video that was spoiled by Google's celebrities
Also let everyone think if this is Google's layout
That's really a successful "decent" publicity plan.
But even so
The actual presentation of Pixel 3 still has many highlights.
Ok, let's go back and see this new product from Google.
This time Pixel 3 has two versions.
Pixel 3 with 5.5 吋18:9 Full HD screens
And 6.3 吋QHD 18.5:9 Pixel 3 XL
Both use OLED screens
And support HDR and display comparison of 100,000:1
The most interesting part of this Pixel 3 is the camera part.
In the promotion, Google took Pixel 3 to cover the cover of 7 well-known magazines.
The effect is really quite good.
Technically Pixel 3 is in the twin lens today
Rarely equipped with a 12.2 million pixel f1.8 single lens module
And support OIS EIS and Dual Pixel focus technology
However, the technical specifications only provide a natural physique for Pixel 3.
Actually this time Google is through AI
Paired with your own Pixel Visual Core image processing chip
Pixel 3's camera has excellent results through AI and big data.
Includes Super HDR with Apple Smart HDR
Synthesize by AI calculation and selecting the most suitable exposure value photo
Achieve better contrast between light and dark
The photos that Google shows at the press conference do have very strong differences.
But it's not really so strong, you have to wait for the real machine test.
TopShot uses AI predictive shooting
Let you freely choose the moment you like.
Super ResZoom
Ability to enhance resolution with AI combined with big data
Night Sight via Pixel Visual Core
The same can give better night shooting results
Apple's big AR
Google is launching PlayGround to provide AR video.
This time, I will work with Marvel.
You can see in the trailer that the iron man is interacting with you next to you.
In addition, the Chinese version of Google Voice Assistant should be confirmed to be on stage.
Google also introduced a new Call Screen feature for this.
Can receive a strange call
Automatically ask who you are by AI
What do you want to do, etc. Basic information
Help you filter spam calls
And the Pixel Stand
Plug in Pixel 3 will also switch directly to Smart Butler mode
Tell you everything after getting up
Play music, have a cup of coffee, or pick up a monitor to see who is coming, etc.
Really become your smart steward
But how many functions can Taiwan use in the end?
You have to wait for Google to give further instructions.
Technical specification section
Pixel 3 with Qualcomm SnapDragon 845 + 4GB RAM
And configure Android 9.0
Of course, I also have all the benefits of Google Pixel.
Including mobile phone updates that are guaranteed for at least three years, unlimited cloud album space, etc.
Special features are Active Edge
Can be squeezed out like Edge Sense
And support IP68 waterproof and dustproof
Price section Pixel 3 is expected to jump from $27,700
Pixel 3 XL 128GB is 34100 yuan
Ok, let's talk about it here today.
Don't forget to vote in the upper right corner. Do you want to start Pixel 3

Roland LX700 series piano design philosophy - Duration: 1:14.
Hi, I'm Steven Plomteux from GBO Innovation Makers.
We wanted to create beautiful instrument that's more than a piece of furniture.
An instrument that is finding you to play, it draws you in even if it is just a few minutes.
After all, it's all about joy of playing.
The overall appearance is one of elegance and purity.
General design is classic but royal to the traditional piano.
But if you take a closer look, it's different.
At first, we invest a lot of time in bringing back the piano to its purist form.
From this foundation, we introduce features that make the piano more in fighting.
Around the panel edges, stapled legs and elongated shoulders
also help to create a unique and recognizable silhouette.
It's hard to define the one element that make the new piano really standing out.
It's the combination of all the details and refinements
that give its unique character and design that is a modern classic.

Love Game (Good German Drama Love Movie, Subtitled, Full Length, Arthouse) free full movies - Duration: 1:21:48.
Theresa, we're closing.
Just this last game.
LOVING GAME
One severely injured male. The emergency physician is on his way.
He was climbing around on the beams. I don't really know why.
But these kids pump themselves up...
Can you hear me?
Well... What can I do?
Anybody know him?
Hello?
You have to get off here.
End of the line.
Oh no...
Where did you want to get off? -Convention Center.
Then you really went quite a bit too far.
I don't know where you need to be, but it can't be that bad.
Just say there was bodily injury, that sounds credible.
We tried to reanimate a dead boy this morning.
I'd like to know what his mom's doing right now.
She probably doesn't even know he's dead. He didn't have an ID on him.
Some parents need four weeks to realize their kids are missing. Four weeks!
Parents either love too much or too little.
I would have quit a long time ago, if it wasn't for my dad.
You act like you don't care about their expectations,
but then you try to live up to them anyway.
Your tram is here.
Thanks.
Sorry about the boy.
Ms Wink?
Can I stop by your office later? -What is it about?
I need an advance.
Well then, have a nice trip.
Hope you have good weather. Here you go.
I checked the tire pressure yesterday, and it's fine.
I'm going to borrow this, okay? -But bring it back.
The crossword puzzle's mine!
Look, Morten, my wife looks just as big as the pyramid.
Did I ever tell you I was a merchant marine?
Yeah, about 50 times.
The others were really stunned when we showed them the slides back then.
My friends never got farther than Romania.
Always had to be careful not to tell the wrong stories.
Have you ever been to Egypt?
No. -Why don't you go there in your trailer?
I can't go to Egypt because I don't have a car.
Yeah, you told me before.
Morton speaking.
Hi, Dad.
No, sorry.
I'm really tired.
Yes.
Good luck with the surgery. Bye.
I'm doing this for you, asshole.
And because you owe me 200 euros.
Why don't you jack up your trailer? You're ruining the tires.
What if I want to leave? -You don't have a car.
I can borrow one.
Why don't you jack up <your> car? You're not leaving.
Or are the <Berliner Philharmoniker> going to offer you a job as first cellist?
I have an audition tomorrow with the< Virtuosi Saxoniae>.
Had I told you? -No.
Can I buy a lottery ticket from you? -Sure.
<"One free ticket."> -Cool.
Pick one for me.
"No instant win."
Too bad. -Yes.
Too bad, yes.
See you.
Shit.
Shit! -Do you know her?
That's the woman from the tram. -Nice ass.
You couldn't even see it. -I did when she walked away.
Fuck off, Hasi. Excuse me!
Excuse me!
I have to go right back, but if you meet someone twice in a day,
then, statistically, the next meeting is in five years.
If I waited that long, you might be married already.
Are you married? -No, I'm not.
Good. Then can I buy you a cup of coffee?
I don't drink coffee.
Me neither, really.
How about coffee today then? -I have a lot of work the next few days.
What about Monday?
Where should we meet?
I don't know. -At the Café...
Café Hitlerhof? -What?
In the Café Hinterhof. -By the arcades?
Monday... at three?
See you then.
"Hitlerhof"! Stupid!
How are you?
Pretty good, thanks.
The bar is closed. -Yes.
Should we go somewhere else?
This is for you. I was too chicken to get a red one.
Thanks.
What's your name? -Theresa. And yours?
Morten.
As in "Horton Hears a Who," but <Morten>, not <Horton>.
What do you do?
I'm a simultaneous interpreter. -Wow. What languages?
Spanish and English into German. -Cool.
How do you listen and translate at the same time?
You don't focus on the translation, but on what's said.
Do you know the Previous Question Game?
I played it once, but the questions came so fast, I lost in the first round.
Want to give it a try?
You reply to the second question with the answer from the first.
First question: What's your favorite color?
Second question: What's your sign? -Blue.
Favorite music? -Taurus.
A dislike? -Pink Floyd.
A liking? -Dominance.
Do you have a boyfriend? -Humor.
Should we go to my place? -No.
No?
I was answering the previous question. -Oh, then you don't have a boyfriend.
No, I don't.
Do you want to come over?
Come on in. This is where I live.
Nice.
I have a Pink Floyd tape here somewhere.
It's broken.
Now I have a few questions for you.
Why do you live here?
What do your parents do? Do you have siblings?
Are you ever happy? If yes, when?
That was a lot of questions at once. -Five.
You want to hear my family history? -Yes.
Go ahead.
Dad is a heart surgeon and addicted to pills.
Mom is a nurse and an alcoholic, which she won't admit.
My half-brother, who always gets pampered,
is also a surgeon and an idiot.
His wife is manic-depressive, but no one knows.
They have two kids whose names start with "T" because that's terrific.
He's Torge, his wife is Tina, and the kids are Torben and Timo.
Any normal people in your family?
No.
I didn't finish high school until I was 22.
Our exchange student was finished with college by the time I graduated.
And he's a month younger than I am.
Does that impress you? -No. Why?
Yes, it does. That impresses me. Does it impress you?
What else did you ask?
When I'm happy, right?
Right now I feel great. And you?
Me too.
A perfect day.
Are you leaving? -I have to go, but you can stay.
No, then I'll get up too.
At 5:15?
What are you going to do today? -Interpreting.
Here's the number in the break room. My cell is broken.
Thanks.
Do you regret coming over yesterday?
No, I don't.
I'll come over tonight, okay?
Yes, sure.
Hello, I'm here for the table.
Done for the day? -No, heading out.
We have an aneurysm. Want to watch? -I can't.
Then stop by later. -We'll see, Dad.
What's up with you? -Nothing.
You can get fired for that.
I only have four days left.
Good morning.
How was your date yesterday? -Nice.
Successful? -Yeah, sure it was successful.
What would you like? -We'll take those filled love-hearts...
The two apple cakes, please. -No, the love-hearts.
KINGSPLAY GAME PARLOR
Hey. How are you?
Good, thanks.
Can you hold on to this for me?
Okay, can do.
Will you tell me when it's 6:00?
Thanks.
Did someone play here? -We were closed yesterday.
Helmut?
When's "tonight" for you?
What?
If I said, "I'm coming over tonight," when would you expect me?
Why would you come over? We see each other every night.
But if I didn't live here anymore... What time would you expect me to come?
Six or seven? Eight? Or even later?
Are you moving?
No... Oh, forget it.
Theresa...
It's past eight.
This game, and then I'll quit.
Did you fix the doorbell?
Ask Helmut. It's his property, right?
Should I fix it? -If you're expecting important company.
Will you break that 100-euro bill I gave to you before?
You want to start on that now?
Yes, I do.
You know how late it is?
Yes.
Hello?
Dad...
I can't, I'm expecting company.
Yes, tomorrow for sure. See you.
And?
What did he have to offer today? -A heart transplantation.
She's making you wait, huh?
No, she's coming at eleven.
Shut up.
You're scaring me now...
Stop it!
Defend yourself! Come on!
Why don't you defend yourself?
I can't.
I was trying to be funny.
I'm sorry.
Are you all right?
Want to come look at my slides?
No. -Why not?
Helmut, your wife left you.
You can look at the slides forever, but she's not coming back.
You've got to have some sense of reality.
Do you have to play at night?
Don't let it out on me. She's not coming, so just go to bed.
Look, I don't understand much about music,

Hi, Helmut, did anyone call?
You don't know? Where were you?
Forget it.
Theresa!
Hello.
Are you available the next few days? -I'm busy tonight.
I'm going to the casino tomorrow. Would you accompany me?
I'm not sure if I have time.
Call me. It would be my pleasure.
PLEASE HONK AFTER 10 P.M.
You're not going to change? -No, why?
Get in.
I need to go get my laundry.
Hurry up!
How are things in the clinic, Morten? -Good.
Are you keeping busy? -This morning we played backgammon.
Really?
That's great! -Morten, you'll get it together.
And registering went smoothly? -Yep. No problems.
My med student. -Yep.
I'll do that.
Cheers, son! -Cheers.
And after the war my parents thought the best thing to do would be...
... to open a soap factory,
because people always wash a lot after terrible experiences.
Ever notice that?
Suddenly we had a ton of money.
We were a partially state-owned business.
We had an incredible amount of money.
Once I blocked my math teacher's scooter with our big <Wartburg >car<.>
Georg! -You would have been amazed...
Please tell her to leave me alone. -Can't throw her out for just talking.
Sorry.
I got your book lists...
... and checked what we still had here.
These are Torge's.
Anything he didn't have, I bought new for you.
Wow. -I always wanted one of those.
Couldn't even get one back then. -Thanks.
Have some fun.
Thanks, but I don't need any money. -Money's always useful.
You could buy some new clothes.
I'll go get an empty box from the basement.
I'll be right back!
Excuse me. You took my seat.
This is <my> machine. Please go to a different one.
Why don't <you> go to a different one?
You can work on any machine, but this one...
That's not yours.
That's not your money!
Hands off! -Leave it be. Just leave it.
Theresa, don't touch it. It's not yours!
It just fell out of my bag!
The bag was empty. -That's not true! You're lying.
You're lying!
Theresa, stop it.
Get off me!
Need some help? -No, I got it. Bye.
Bye!
No new messages.
What's that?
Is that your new girlfriend? -Yes.
Never thought she'd be so pretty. Madame...
Want in? -Is Morten here?
He's already asleep.
He gets really mad if he's woken up. -Really?
Ever been to Egypt?
Cheers.
Want to sit down? -Sure.
Good evening.
Good evening. Hasi!
I'm Hans. -Theresa. Hello.
Got a beer for me?
In the fridge. -Thanks.
Large straight. -Nice.
This is just not my game.
Good morning. -Good evening.
Hello.
I fell asleep on the couch last night.
Sorry, I didn't call you.
Want to play?
No, thanks. -Come on, it's really fun.
I'm beat, I'm going to bed. -Stay.
No. -Come on, Morten.
I like Yahtzee, but not at this time of day.
I don't even know you. -I don't know you either.
I don't know your last name. -I don't know yours either.
Why didn't you call? -Didn't say I would.
You said you'd come over. -I'm here now.
Yes.
Sorry, but I have to get up early and...
Want to see my ID?
My address is on it.
Stop it, I don't care.
Is that new?
I start med school next week.
I don't even want to.
But after all the money my dad's invested, he'd kill me.
Want to study something else? -No.
I don't know what I want to do.
You want to wait till you know what you don't want.
Yes, exactly.
Lindner.
What? -My last name. Lindner.
Are you hungry? -I borrowed a car. Want to go on a trip?
Yes, but I don't have any money. -I have money.
Want to play a game? -What?
Want to play a game? -Sure.
Make a new word out of the second part of the word I give you.
I'll start.
Off-road.
Roadtrip.
Trip planner.
Planner... There is no word with "planner".
I know!
You tricked me. -That's how the game works.
So I lost. -Let's do one more.
No, it's a stupid game. -Come on, Morten, one more.
Okay, what do I get in return?
A kiss?
Okay, the kiss first.
One more.
Theresa?
We've arrived.
Just as I imagined it: blue sky and sunshine.
Terrific.
Come on.
Should we run around a bit to get warm?
Just a second.
Come here, this is so great.
Excuse me!
Am I invisble? -Seems like it.
We'd like to order, please.
Thanks.
We'd like to order, please.
Do you have two euros? -Sure.
I'm going to try that machine, okay?
Hey, not bad.
Wow.
How did you do that?
Beginner's luck.
Should we leave?
Excuse me, but your food just looks awful.
Have you decided? -Yes.
A hot chocolate and a croissant. -That's all?
For now.
I'll have the eggs with shrimp and an orange juice.
Make that two, or don't you like juice?
Yes, I do.
And I'll have a croissant too.
Are we paying with the money I just won? -Why not, it was free.
It basically fell into our laps.
I'd like you to ask before you pay with my money.
The two euros were mine. -I put it in the machine.
Okay, keep the money. It's my treat.
Okay? -Okay.
Do you always let men pay for you?
Yes, I do.
I didn't mean it like that.
Keep the money if it's important to you.
I'm sorry. I just don't have much money right now.
Don't you make enough at work? -Yes, well...
My place is too expensive. I might get evicted this week.
Move in with me.
With you? -Yeah. We'll get a car and go on a trip.
Travel the world. One should do that more often.
You're right.
Your orange juice.
Thanks. To us!
I need to call my mom real quick. -Really? Let's eat first.
I'll be right back.
I have to be back at eight. My mom is sick.
Something serious? -She has a bad cough. Maybe pneumonia.
My brother could go see her. -Don't bother. It's not the first time.
You have to be there at eight sharp?
I just said eight, since we still have to drive home.
Can I finish or do we have to leave right now?
You can call her if you don't believe me.
Could you please stop that?
That's where we stopped yesterday.
Can I use your toilet?
Sure.
The bathroom's here.
Need a ride to your mom's house?
No, thanks. She lives right around the corner.
You don't have a couch.
No, I don't.
You said you fell asleep on the couch. -I made that up.
But I really fell asleep.
Morten, I like you. I'm not cheating on you.
I have a lot to deal with just now. -Yeah, sure.
I'll come over tonight.
Will you call first? -Sure.
Next time we'll go for longer. -Yeah?
Yeah, sure.
Torge!
What brings you here? -Can I borrow your car?
For what? -Can't say. Just give it to me.
Seriously, Morten. No way. -Why not?
If you don't tell me why you need it, then I'm sorry.
I've always brought it back in one piece. Now come on.
You only ever come over when you need something.
And if you don't get it right away, you start some family drama.
I can't drive the ambulance, it's too conspicuous.
Why do you need an inconspicuous car? -Who cares. Just give it to me.
If you tell me what for. -You're such an idiot!
That's why I live in the trailer park.
So I don't have to deal with you and Dad, you jerks!
Say, do you like boys?
What? -You've never brought a girl home.
Are you gay?
You're so stupid.
Just give me the key.
You're not getting anything from me.
You're such a jerk.
Wait a minute... Here, take mine. It's parked out front.
Thanks.
What are you doing? -It's<my> car.
What did you do today? -Not much.
Want to know what I did today? -No.
Tell me if you want. -No, it's okay.
You're going to the slots? -Yes.
Do you have enough money? -Yes.
I'm going to the tables.
If you need anything, let me know. -Okay, thanks.
How's it going?
The machines don't like me today.
I lost quite a bit too.
But...
That's part of the game.
I'll be back.
Can I buy you a drink? The cocktails here are great.
I haven't seen you all evening.
Yeah, I know.
Good evening. -A room for two people.
How many nights? -One.
Don't look at me like that. You lost 400 euros of mine.
You'll get it back. -You don't <have> any money.
Everyone knows that you...
... gamble everything away.
Theresa...
Just act like you...
... like me a little bit.
Wait.
Would you like to know why I was at the hotel?
No.
I saw you in the casino. At the slots.
It was the wrong strategy.
Strategy?
The slots don't care what you do.
Push whatever button. They're programmed!
Are you stupid?
Wait!
I'm not leaving you here alone.
You need help.
Sorry if I made you think that I care. Because I don't.
Not true. -Yes, it is.
You're lying. -Don't look at me like that!
Just leave me alone!
Fucking shit!
Any news from the other orchestra?
They don't want me. I'm not good enough.
So, Morten, you can't say the opposite this time, can you?
I'm sorry, Hasi. -For what?
That you said it or that you were right? -That I said it.
Your dad wants you to call him.
He said today, but that was yesterday. So you're already a day late.
Okay, thanks.
Open the door!
I know you're home!
I'll be back tonight for the overdue rent!
Let me recapitulate.
The analysis has shown that we must take on a new direction.
We have to... face the facts.
This glossing over the facts...
... has to stop. Life entails movement and...
Sorry. - ... movement means change.
Ms Lindner! Good morning.
I'm really sorry. It's my mother.
And next week it's something else. We will no longer be booking you.
And don't expect too much from the other agencies.
Your unreliability is known.
Surely.
I'm sorry.
Wait outside a minute.
Everything okay? -Sure.
Hi.
Can I move in with you today?
I thought you didn't care about me? -You know I care, Morten.
No, I don't.
That wasn't me yesterday.
I really need your help, Morten.
What about the overdue rent?
They can keep what's left in there.
They'll sue you anyway.
Pay them back in installments. You can't just up and go.
I'll take care of it. -Yeah, maybe.
Tomorrow is a new day.
"Do what you can do today."
Would you sleep with Hasi or Helmut if they took you to the casino?
We just had a drink. -Don't lie, I saw you at the elevator.
That wasn't planned.
Just like your gambling strategy, right? -I'm sorry, Morten.
I'm going to take a shower.
So I'm the idiot who let you move in? -You're not an idiot.
Seems so.
I've known you for a week, and you've told me to go away twice,
but I still want to see you. If that's not stupid, then what is?
I could have gone to my mom's. -Yeah?
Then go.
Talk to me, I'm not deaf.
Why do you gamble?
At first I won a whole bunch and was doing very well.
Now I'm waiting for that again.
That's how I feel about you too.
Ever been unhappily in love? -Yes.
And you? -Yes.
For about a week now.
I'll stop gambling.
I can. I just never wanted to.
Why stop now?
Because of you.
Let's hide and ignore everything.
What's under there? -Nothing!
My kind of place.
Nothing going on. -Nothing at all.
I really like it here.
Don't... -I like it a lot.
Me too.
What?
Something on my face? -Yes, there.
Where, here?
And there.
How did you get messy right here?
Then I'll buy tomatoes and shallots. -Great.
Let's go somewhere today. -Where to?
Anywhere. -Great, I've always wanted to go there.
I'm getting off here. -Don't you want to go the other shop?
This store's good too. But I need money.
Good morning! -Morning.
What's up? -Nothing.
For you. -Thanks.
All the best! -Is it home-made?
Of course. Feeling better?
How's your girlfriend? -Pretty good.
We had a fight, but we made up.
Could I have the old bus?
Sure, you can!
Next week's the big day, huh?
I might take some time off.
Do you want to start school as an old man?
See this through, Morten.
I don't want to study medicine.
Since when?
I never have.
And you let me buy all the books?
I didn't ask you to.
Have you seen Theresa?
No. I haven't seen her all day.
She's not inside either. -I'll have a look.
Go ahead.
And? Everything okay, Morten?
Your girl likes to gamble, huh? -Yes.
Let her go. You can't help her.
Right, like you're the expert!
My wife...
... was a drinker.
I don't care about your wife.
When no one's left to help, she might stop.
Or think of something. She might steal money.
Get arrested. Call you from prison.
Implore you.
Totally desperate, she'll start hating herself.
You must be patient then.
If you help her too soon...
... she'll start gambling again.
Just be patient.
One day you'll be sitting somewhere...
... not thinking about her for the first time.
Then she'll be standing in front of you because it's always that way.
But she might be looking for someone who doesn't know about her addiction.
Morten, look what I won!
For our trip.
I don't want it.
Why not?
I just don't.
What should I do with it then? -We could give it away.
Okay, then I'll just throw it out the window.

DIY Halloween wreath anyone can make - Duration: 2:55.
Now we're going to make this fun Halloween wreath.
So, I'm going to start with my Bowdabra Bow Wire and I'm going to fold it in half
and lay it down into my Bowdabra, just tucking
the ends underneath so it stays out of my way.
Now I'm going to take this really fun purple mesh.
I'm just going to scrunch it down into my Bowdabra.
And I'm going to fold it back and forth, take my wand
and just give everything a really good push.
I'm going to take this gold ribbon and scrunch this down in here.
Now I've already dovetailed the ends of my ribbon.
All I do is fold the ribbon in half and you're just going to cut from the corner into the
crease, and that gives you your great dovetailed ends.
Now I'm going to take this really pretty ribbon.
Oh, you know what I didn't show you?
What I was doing here.
So, I'm twisting, pushing it down.
So now, the wrong side of my ribbon is on the inside of my loop, but when I come back
here, I'm going to make sure that the right side of the ribbon is facing up.
Now I'm going to take my-- This is a really pretty sheer with a little
orange glitter on it.
Then I have this cute little spider that we made.
All I did was take felt and just made a little felt circle for the head and one for the body,
used a hole punch, and then put the chenille stems, just weaved them through so you have
the eight, and then put a puff here and just two little buttons for the eyes.
And so, I'm just going to take two of the chenille legs, the chenille stem legs, put
those into my Bowdabra.
Then I'm going to take my Bowdabra Bow Wire, pull it through
and kind of bring it around their legs.
And now, I'm just going to pull this through my slipknot,
pull it tight while it's still in the Bowdabra.
Now I'm going to pull it out.
I'm going to separate the ends, bring them around to the back.
Then shaping out my bow.
And you have this really cool decoration.

Jack Brooksbank family tree: Who is Jack Brooksbank - who is in his family? - Duration: 3:15.
Eugenie's future husband has been lavished with praise by his soon-to-be in-laws, the Duke and Duchess of York
Prince Andrew previously tweeted of him: "Jack is an absolutely outstanding young man and Eugenie and he have got to know each other over a number of years, and I'm really thrilled for them
"Who is Jack Brooksbank? While Eugenie, 28, is the ninth-in-line to the throne, 32-year-old Jack is no stranger to wealth and aristocracy
He is descended from the Brooksbank baronets, one of the lower hereditary titles in ranks - and is related distantly to Eugenie through her mother's line
Sarah, Duchess of York is the great-great-great-granddaughter of Lady Julia Coke, who is the daughter of Jack's great-great-grandfather Thomas William Coke
The Stowe-educated socialite is the son of chartered accountant George Brooksbank, 68, and wife Nicola, 64, according to The Telegraph
George and Nicola live in a gated property in Wandsworth, London. PRINCESS EUGENIE WEDDING: WHAT FOOD WILL BE SERVED? Jack's younger brother, Tom Brooksbank, 29, works in business development for fund management company Troy Asset Management
What does Jack do? Jack and Eugenie met on the slopes of luxury ski resort Verbier in 2011 when he was a waiter and she was an undergraduate at university
He said of their meeting: "We were skiing which was amazing. Love at first sight
" After studying at Bristol University, he began a career in the hospitality sector working at west London haunts The Punchbowl, Whisky Mist and Mahiki
Jack also launched Tonteria in Chelsea, a Mexican-themed pub popular with Sloane Rangers
What did Jack's grandmother say about him? Joanna Newton, 91, raised some eyebrows when she jokingly said her grandson was a "charming boy" but not the "most intelligent"
The pensioner told MailOnline: "I never thought he would get married to a royal. "He's a charming boy and all that but not the most intelligent and I would never have thought this would happen
" But she added he was a "good egg" and said: "I think it says a lot about Eugenie that it's him she wants and it's lovely

30 Phrasal Verbs to Help You With Technology - Duration: 7:30.
Welcome back to Everyday Grammar from VOA Learning English.
This is our third episode on phrasal verbs.
As you know, a phrasal verb is a phrase with two or more words: a verb and a preposition
or adverb, or both.
Today we look at very current phrasal verbs: ones used with technology.
The digital age has created many new words and phrases in English.
The world of technology is fast-changing, and it has broken many traditions.
It is natural that the language of computers would also change and be informal.
Not only is the language of technology full of phrasal verbs, it is also full of new nouns.
Many of those nouns grew out of phrasal verbs, as you will learn in this episode.
Let's go back to 1969, when the first verb sent over the Internet was a phrasal verb:
log in.
To log in is to enter a code, key or password to gain access to the computer's abilities.
We have been logging in ever since then.
Sometimes we say we have to sign in to a web page.
Like now, we started a computer by hooking up wire cables and then powering it upor turning
it on.
Some computers took a long time to boot up, or get ready to run programs.
Now, we do not have to wait as long.
To install new applications on the computer, users run a set up program.
Then we click on the icon, or image, for a program to run it.
After opening a program, you choose commands from a menu.
These menus are stored in a pull down or drop down bar near the top of the screen.
A click of the mouse – the hand-held device that guides the cursor around the computer
screen – shows more commands on the bar.
That bar is often called the navigation bar or nav bar.
This leads us to our first noun from a phrasal verb, pulldown.
When we give instructions to a friend about using a web page, we can say, "Look in the
nav bar for the pulldown and choose a command."
Another verb that describes up-and-down movement on the screen is scroll up or scroll down.
A wheel on the mouse allows you to scroll up or scroll down to read a web page.
We can click on an arrow to move to the next screen, too.
Installing upgrades can sometimes damage files.
So, users should always back uptheir files.
That is, copy files and folders to another location, like an external disk drive.
A user who stores many large files will soon run out of room on the computer, so keeping
files on an extra hard drive is a good idea.
This phrasal verb became a noun, too.
Experts tell us, "Put your backups in a safe place."
My parents used to print out their emails because they wanted to keep a permanent copy,
and here is another new noun: a printout.
The phrasal verb print out is a separable phrasal verb, like the ones we talked about
in a previous episode.
That means you can put a pronoun between the verb and preposition, as in "Let me print
it out for you."
Even when we use passwords, criminals have learned to enter a computer or a network without
permission.
They are hacking into the network.
Hacking can make computer systems go down, or stop working.
A disaster could happen if the hacker wiped out, or erased, all the information on a computer
system.
That is why you back up your system.
Internet advertisements, or ads, pop up on the screen over a web page.
This created a new noun from the phrasal verb, popup.
People said they needed a tool to block those annoying ads, so the "popup blocker" was
born.
This feature is part of the browsersoftware.
Speaking of browsers, another phrasal verb that became a noun is plug in.
You know that you can plug a wire into the wall.
Now, we add small programs to perform specific tasks in the computer, and call them plugins.
Companies often will ask for your email address.
They create a large list of users from their email addresses.
When we sign up to use a website, we key in our name and email address.
The organization running an online service usually asks us to opt in, or choose to receive
email messages.
Usually those messages are asking us to buy products.
There are so many of these emails now that many people try to filter out all messages
from advertisers – otherwise known as spam.
If you think that the Internet is full of too many advertisements, and your email is
nothing but spam, just click on the menu to shut down and turn off your devices for the
day.
Get off what we called "the information superhighway" and take a walk outside.
Wait!
There is one final phrasal verb to describe that: go offline.

#1.2 Chinese Invasion in Africa - Duration: 3:07.
Just spent an hour on the motorbike, eating lots of dust
We're looking for the perfect angle
We have arrived at the SGR: the new Lunatic Express
Last time we talked about the massive venture of the British to build a railway through Kenya to Uganda
Since 2017 the Lunatic Express is no longer in use and has been replaced by this enormous structure from the Chinese behind me
They have built a new railway which has to be quicker, faster and better
The price tag on this new railway?
3.8 billion euros
For the biggest part it is financed by China through a loan
and subsequently let out in contract to a Chinese state-owned company
These kind of contracts are far from transparent and the secondary conditions are often unknown
The new railway unfortunately crosses right through Nairobi National Park, which has caused quite a fuss
because it would disturb the wildlife and the ecosystem
The contractor claims that he took the wildlife into account and that this bridge is high enough for animals to go their own way
Yet some people doubt this, and to be honest so do I
The Chinese business in Kenya forces the Kenyans and Chinese to work closely together
Two totally different cultures. How is that working out?
We hit the streets to ask them
How is it working together with the Chinese?
You have a lot of Kenyan friends?
All right, opinions vary
but someone that has a very strong opinion and is not afraid to speak out loud, is artist Michael Soi
He has coincidentally just opened an exposition about the Chinese in Africa
Everyone will have their own opinion, on the disturbance of the ecosystem, how the Chinese do business here
But fact is: the train is here and works like a charm, it leaves on time
We want to take that train. We want to see if it is a suitable alternative for a polluting inland flight or a road-trip
We'll start in Mombasa to see which places are fun to stop at, to explore the vast countryside
