Youtube daily report Oct 9 2018

(*)

(*)

(*)

>> I'VE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING IKE

THAT IN MY ENTIRE LIFE.

I THOUGHT I WAS DEAD FOR SURE.

LIKE, GUARANTEED DEAD.

>> Ian: AN EXPLOSION INSIDE OF A

NEW BRUNSWICK REFINERY SENT

FLAMES 30 METRES INTO THE AIR

AND CONTRACTORS RUNNING FOR

THEIR LIVES.

WE'LL BRING YOU THE STORY FROM

INSIDE OF THE REFINERY.

HOW ONE MAN MANAGED TO ESCAPE.

>>> ALSO TONIGHT WHY THE LIMO IN

THAT NEW YORK STATE CRASH SHOULD

NEVER HAVE BEEN ON THE ROAD.

>>> AND IS APPLE PRESSURES YOU

TO BUY NEW PRODUCTS INSTEAD OF

FIXING THE ONES THAT YOU HAVE?

THE TACTICS THAT COULD COST YOU

AND THE MOVEMENT TO GIVE

CONSUMERS THE RIGHT TO REPAIR.

>>> THIS IS "THE NATIONAL."

(*)

(*)

>>> A HISSING SOUND, EVER SO

BRIEF, WAS ALL THE WARNING THAT

WORKERS HAD AT THE IRVING OIL

REFINERY TODAY.

IN AN INSTANT PART OF THE SAINT

JOHN FACILITY WAS ENGULFED IN

FIRE JUST MOMENTS AFTER AN

EXPLOSION.

>> I FELT THE HOUSE SHAKE.

WE THOUGHT, LIKE, SOMETHING HIT

THE HOUSE.

IT RATTLED THE WINDOWS SO BAD.

AND I CAME UP AND THERE WAS A

HUGE PLUME OF BLACK SMOKE OVER

THE TREES OVER HERE.

>> Ian: MORE THAN 2,000 WORKERS

WERE INSIDE OF THE FACILITY

RUSHING TO GET OUT AS

FIREFIGHTERS AND EMERGENCY CREWS

RUSHED IN TO FIGHT THE FLAMES.

THE REFINERY IS LESS THAN FIVE

KILOMETRES FROM THE CITY CENTRE

AND SURROUNDED BY RESIDENTIAL

NEIGHBOURHOODS.

THE CLOSEST HOMES JUST A FEW

HUNDRED METRES AWAY.

NEIGHBOURS WATCHING IN HORROR

AND AS KAYLA HOUNSELL TELLS US,

FROM INSIDE OF THE REFINERY IT

WAS EVEN MORE FRIGHTENING.

>> IT'S NOT GETTING UNDER

CONTROL, IT'S GETTING WORSE.

>> Reporter: EMPLOYEES INSIDE

THE PLANT FELT THE EXPLOSION

BEFORE THEY SAW IT.

>> WE GOT BLASTED TO THE GROUND.

EVERYTHING BLEW UP.

AND I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO.

>> Reporter: JONATHAN WRIGHT

IS A CONTRACTOR AT THE REFINERY.

HE WAS WORKING JUST METRES FROM

THE BLAST.

THE HEAT KEPT HIM FROM THE

STAIRS TO GET DOWN.

>> I HAD TO GRAB ON THE POLES

AND HANG DOWN SO I COULD JUMP TO

THE NEXT LEVEL BECAUSE THERE'S

NO LADDER.

>> Reporter: WHEN HE REACHED

THE GROUND HE FLED THE PROPERTY.

>> I RAN THE WHOLE ENTIRE WAY

OUT OF THERE.

I HAVE SEEN REFINERY FIRES AND

THEY'RE TERRIBLE.

>> Reporter: HE WASN'T THE

ONLY ONE RUNNING.

>> YOU COULD SEE JUST HERDS OF

WORKERS IN THEIR BLE BLUE

COVER-ALLSS

EVACUATING THE PREMISES.

AND ONE CAME BY IN HIS TRUCK AND

SAID, GET OUT OF HERE.

>> Reporter: MANY CLOSE TO THE

REFINERY FLED TOO.

>> WE'RE IN WHAT IS CALLED THE

RED ZONE.

SO IF ALL ELSE FAILS AND THAT

PLACE DID GO, WE'RE DONE.

>> Reporter: IRVING OIL SAID

THAT THE EXPLOSION AND THE

SUBSEQUENT FIRE OCCURRED WHEN A

DIESEL-TREATING UNIT

MALFURPKSED.

MALFUNCTIONED.

BUT THE COMPANY SAYS THAT IT'S

TOO EARLY TO SAY WHAT CAUSED THE

PROBLEM.

>> WE HAVE TO UNDERSTAND WHAT

CAUSED IT AND MAKE SURE THAT WE

HAVE ISOLATED THAT INCIDENT

BEFORE WE DO ANYTHING MOVING

FORWARD IN THE OPERATION.

>> Reporter: THE FACILITY IS

THE LARGEST REFINERY IN CANADA,

CAPABLE OF PRODUCING MORE THAN

320,000 BARRELS PER DAY.

IT'S UNCLEAR HOW LONG THE

REFINERY WILL BE SHUT DOWN AND

WHAT IMPACT THAT MIGHT HAVE ON

CUSTOMERS IN CANADA AND THE

UNITED STATES.

>> IT'S THANKSGIVING WEEKEND.

THE FACT THAT NO ONE WAS HURT

SERIOUSLY OR KILLED DURING THIS

INCIDENT I THINK IS SOMETHING TO

BE VERY THANKFUL FOR.

>> Reporter: AT LEAST FOUR

PEOPLE WERE TAKEN TO HOSPITAL.

JONATHAN WRIGHT INJURED HIS

HAND, KNEE AND FOOT.

HE SAYS HE'S NOT GOING BACK TO

WORK.

>> THAT COULD HAVE KILLED SO

MANY PEOPLE, INCLUDING MYSELF.

SO I'M PRETTY UPSET ABOUT IT.

>> Reporter: HE PLANS TO FLY

HOME TO FLORIDA TOMORROW.

KAYLA HOUNSELL, CBC NEWS, SAINT

JOHN.

>> Ian: WE WANT TO PLAY YOU MORE

OF KAYLA'S INTERVIEW WITH

JONATHAN WRIGHT.

HIS STORY OF BEING INSIDE OF

THAT REFINERY AND SEEING THE

EXPLOSION FIRSTHAND.

TONIGHT HE'S "OUR WITNESS."

>> I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING

LIKE THAT IN MY ENTIRE LIFE.

I THOUGHT THAT I WAS DEAD FOR

SURE.

LIKE, GUARANTEED DEAD.

I WAS AT WORK AND WE WERE JUST

SITTING AROUND AND I WAS TALKING

WITH THE OTHER TECHNICIAN AND

THAT'S WHEN THE EXPLOSION

HAPPENED.

EVERYTHING JUST TURNED ORANGE.

I MEAN, YOU FELT THE HEAT ON

YOUR FACE AND EVERYTHING AND

SMOKE STARTED COMING IN.

WE HAD TO GET THE HELL OUT OF

THERE BUT IT WAS REALLY BAD.

THE SWINGING TO THE SCAFFOLDING

POLES AND WALKING UP THE PIPES

TO GET OUT OF THERE.

IT WAS TERRIBLE BUT I DIDN'T

WANT TO GET BURNED, YOU KNOW.

I COMPLETELY LEFT THE PLANT.

SOME OF MY CO-WORKERS STAYE STAYED AND

I JUST DIDN'T WANT TO BE THERE.

AND PEOPLE WERE DRIVE ASKING

THEY MADE A U-TURN AND THERE

WERE TWO OLD LADIES IN A CAR AND

I JUMPED IN WITH THEM.

I'M NOT GOING TO GO BACK TO

THERE AND I'M GOING TO GO HOME

AND GET MY WRIST CHECKED OUT AND

EVERYTHING.

>> Reporter: YOU'RE DONE?

>> YEAH, I'M GOING TO FLY HOME.

>> Ian: HERE'S A LOOK AT WHAT

ELSE WE'RE WORKING TONIGHT...

>>> A NEW TWIST IN THE

DISAPPEARANCE OF THE HEAD OF

INTERPOL.

HE'S UNDER ARREST AND UNDER

INVESTIGATION.

>>> AND THE U.S. PRESIDENT SAYS

THAT THE ACCUSATIONS AGAINST

BRETT KAVANAUGH WERE "A HOAX."

THIS IS DONALD TRUMP AS HE HOSTS

A CEREMONY FOR THE NEWEST

SUPREME JUSTICE.

>>> FIRST THOUGH, MORE ABOUT

THAT HORRIFIC LIMO CRASH IN NEW

YORK STATE THAT KILLED 20

PEOPLE.

>> WE TAKE IT FOR GRANTED, YOU

LEAVE THE HOUSE IN THE MORNING

AND SOMETIMES YOU NEVER SEE YOUR

LOVED ONES AGAIN.

>> Ian: GOVERNOR ANDREW CUOMO

ARTICULATING WHAT MANY NEW

YORKERS MAY BE FEELING TONIGHT

AFTER A STRETCH LIMOUSINE FILLED

WITH FRIENDS CELEBRATING A

BIRTHDAY HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE,

KILLING EVERYONE INSIDE, ALONG

WITH TWO PEDESTRIANS.

AMONG THOSE KILLED WAS FOUR

SISTERS, TWO BROTHERS, AT LEAST

THREE COUPLES.

THE CRASH HAPPENING IN THE SMALL

TOWN OF SCHOHARIE AT AN

INTERSECTION WITH A HISTORY OF

COLLISIONS.

CUOMO ALSO SHARED THIS KEY

DETAIL IN THE INVESTIGATION SO

FAR...

>> THAT VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY

THE NEW YORK STATE DEPARTMENT OF DEPARTMEN T OF

TRANSPORTATION LAST MONTH AND

FAILED AND WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO

BE ON THE ROAD.

>> Ian: WE'VE ALSO LEARNED THAT

THE LIMO DRIVER HIMSELF WAS NOT

PROPERLY CERTIFIED.

>> THE DRIVER DIDN'T HAVE THE

PROPER LICENCE TO OPERATE IT,

SO, NO, IT SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN

ON THE ROAD.

>> Ian: OTHER VEHICLES BELONGING

TO THE PRESTIGE LIMOUSINE

SERVICE, HAVE RECORDED SAFETY

VIOLATIONS FIVE TIMES IN THE

LAST COUPLE YEARS ALONE.

SEVERAL HAVE BEEN ORDERED OFF

THE ROAD IN THE PAST.

SAFETY OFFICIALS NOW HOPE THAT

THE LIMO'S BLACK BOX RECORDER

WILL DETERMINE WHETHER THE

17-YEAR-OLD LIMO WAS

STRUCTURALLY SOUND, IF ITS

BRAKES WERE WORKING PROPERLY.

WE DO KNOW THAT THE PASSENGERS

TEXTED LOVED ONES ABOUT WHAT

THEY CONSIDERED THE LIMO'S

SHODDY CONDITION JUST BEFORE THE

CRASH, CALLING THE ENGINE NOISE

"DEAFENING."

FRIENDS AND FAMILY ARE TRYING TO

PROCESS THE MAGNITUDE OF THE

TRAGEDY.

>> THEY WERE ALL VERY ACTIVE

PARENTS AND INVOLVED IN THEIR

CHILDREN'S LIVES.

>> THEY WERE VERY SMART AND THEY

WERE BEAUTIFUL AND THEY WERE --

THEY LIVED LIFE TO THE FULLEST.

>> Ian: A CANDLELIGHT VIGIL FOR

THE CRASH VICTIMS WAS HELD

TONIGHT AT A POPULAR PEDESTRIAN

BRIDGE NOT FAR FROM THE ACCIDENT

SITE.

>>> STRETCH LIMOS HAVE WORRIED

AMERICAN SAFETY EXPERTS FOR

YEARS.

STRETCHING VEHICLES ADDS

THOUSANDS OF KILOGRAMS AND CAN

UNDERMINE THE RESTROOM SAFETY

SPECS.

IN CANADA IT VARIES BY REGION.

IN ONTARIO, MODIFIED VEHICLES

MUST BE APPROVED BY THE

MANUFACTURER, LIKE FORD OR G.M.,

AND THEN INSPECTED AT LEAST ONCE

A YEAR.

IT'S EVEN MORE STRICT IN TORONTO

WITH MANDATORY INSPECTIONS EVERY

SIX MONTHS.

AN URGENT WARNING TONIGHT FROM

SOME OF THE WORLD'S TOP

SCIENTISTS, THEY SAY THAT WE

STILL HAVE A CHANCE TO LIMIT THE

EFFECTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE AND

SAVE COUNTLESS LIVES BUT ONLY IF

MUCH MORE IS DONE IMMEDIATELY TO

SLOW THE EARTH'S WARMING.

THE SCIENTISTS SAY THAT IF

PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD FOLLOW

THEIR NEW RECOMMENDATIONS THAT

THERE WILL BE FEWER DEATHS FROM

HEAT, SMOG AND INFECTIOUS

DISEASES BECAUSE THERE WILL BE

FAR FEWER HEAT WAVES AND FLOODS.

SEA LEVELS WON'T RISE AS MUCH.

AND MOST OF THE WORLD'S CORAL

REEFS WILL BE SAVED FROM DYING.

RON CHARLES LOOKS AT WHAT NEEDS

TO BE DONE.

>> Reporter: THE MELTING POLAR

ICE, THE DROUGHT, THE

MEGA-STORMS, CLIMATE SCIENTISTS

SAY THEY'RE ALREADY THE RESULTS

OF THE GLOBE WARMING BY ONE

DEGREE SINCE THE INDUSTRIAL AGE.

>> WE ARE SEEING...

>> Reporter: IN THEIR REPORT

TODAY THE SCIENTISTS WITH THE

INTERGOVERNMENTAL PANEL ON

CLIMATE CHANGE ISSUED A DIRE

WARNING THAT THE EARTH CAN ONLY

HANDLE ANOTHER HALF DEGREE MORE.

>> FOUFOR ECOSYSTEMS AND

LIVELIHOODS IT'S VERY CLEAR THAT

HALF A DEGREE MATTERS.

>> Reporter: RIGHT NOW AS PART

OF THE 2015 PARIS AGREEMENT,

COUNTRIES AROUND THE WORLD HAVE

PLEDGED TO LIMIT OVERALL GLOBAL

WARMING TO 2-DEGREES ABOVE

PRE-INDUSTRIAL TEMPERATURES.

THE REPORT'S AUTHORS SAY THAT

TARGET SHOULD BE KEPT BELOW

1.5-DEGREES.

TOUGH TO DO, BUT POSSIBLE.

>> LIMITING WARMING TO 1.5° C

IMPLIES CHANGES TO AN

UNPRECEDENTED SCALE.

IT MEANS DEEP EMISSION

REDUCTIONS IN ALL SECTORS.

>> Reporter: THE REPORT

SUGGESTS THAT EVERYTHING FROM

HOW WE GET AROUND TO WHAT WE EAT

WOULD HAVE TO CHANGE FAST.

A 1.5-DEGREE SEEMS DAUNTING,

ESPECIALLY WITH CLIMATE CHANGE

SKEPTIC DONALD TRUMP SET TO PULL

THE U.S. OUT OF THE PARIS

AGREEMENT ALL TOGETHER.

A CANADIAN AUTHOR OF TODAY'S

REPORT SAYS THAT NOW IS THE TIME

FOR ALL GOVERNMENTS TO STEP UP.

>> I AM HOPEFUL, BUT ON THE

POLITICAL SIDE I AM LESS HOPEFUL

BECAUSE EVEN THE GOVERNMENTS

THAT SORT OF PROFESS TO TAKE

CLIMATE CHANGE VERY SERIOUSLY,

IN THE END WILL NOT ACT

ACCORDING TO WHAT IS REQUIRED.

AND THIS DOES INCLUDE CANADA.

>> Reporter: THE SCIENTISTS

SAID THAT ONE MORE WARNING, IF

THEIR RECOMMENDATIONS AREN'T

FOLLOWED THE GLOBAL TEMPERATURE

INCREASE COULD SURPASS

1.5-DEGREES AS EARLY AS 2030.

RON CHARLES, CBC NEWS, TORONTO.

>> Ian: THERE ARE A LOT OF

DIFFERENT VIEWS ON HOW THE

GOVERNMENTS SHOULD DEAL WITH

CLIMATE CHANGE.

ON FRIDAY WE HEARD FROM DOUG

FORD WHO WAS IN ALBERTA

ADVOCATING AN END TO THE CARBON

TAX.

WE'LL TELL YOU ABOUT A DIFFERENT

PERSPECTIVE.

BOB WARD IS AN ADVOCATE FOR

GOVERNMENT ACTION TO CURB CARBON

EMISSIONS.

HE'S WITH THE CLIMATE CHANGE

RESEARCH INSTITUTE WITH THE

LONDON SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS.

AND HE JOINED US FROM LONDON.

SO CAN YOU GIVE US AN EXAMPLE OF

A COUNTRY THAT IS GETTING IT

RIGHT WHEN IT COMES TO TRY TO

DEALING WITH CLIMATE CHANGE?

>> WELL, EVERY COUNTRY NEEDS TO

DO MORE, LIKE THE UNITED

KINGDOM, FOR EXAMPLE.

SINCE 1990 IT REDUCED ITS ANNUAL

EMISSION OF GREENHOUSE GASES BY

MORE THAN 40%.

AND ITS ECONOMY HAS EXPANDED BY

MORE THAN 70%.

SO IT SHOWS THAT YOU CAN HAVE

ECONOMIC GROWTH AND REDUCE

GREENHOUSE GASES.

WE HAVE DONE THAT MAINLY BY

CHANGING OUR ELECTRICITY SYSTEM.

WE'VE BECOME LESS DEPENDENT ON

COAL SPECIFICALLY AS A SOURCE OF

ELECTRICITY.

BUT WE'RE ALSO DOING MORE IN

TERMS OF ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND

THAT'S HELPING HOUSEHOLDS, OF

COURSE, AND THEY'RE PAYING

SMALLER BILLS THAN THEY DID 10

YEARS AGO BECAUSE THEY'RE SAVING

MORE ENERGY.

WE STILL HAVE A LONG WAY TO GO.

WE'RE NOW LOOKING AT HOW QUICKLY

WE CAN BRING IN AN ELECTRIC CAR.

WE'VE GOT A BIG CHALLENGE IN

TERMS OF REPLACING OUR CENTRAL

HEATING SYSTEMS WHICH RUN ON

GAS.

AND WE'RE LOOKING AT

ALTERNATIVES.

PERHAPS EVEN CHANGING THE WHOLE

SYSTEM OVER TO HYDROGEN.

AND WE'RE ALSO LOOKING AT OUR

DIETS.

PEOPLE ARE GENERALLY EATING LESS

MEAT BECAUSE IT'S A HEALTHIER

DIET.

THAT'S ALSO HELPING WITH

GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS BECAUSE

RED MEAT IS A PARTICULARLY

WASTEFUL FORM OF FOOD.

THERE'S A LOT OF RESOURCES TO

KEEP LIVESTOCK AND THAT

LIVESTOCK EMITS A LOT OF METHANE

WHICH IS AN EVEN MORE POWERFUL

GREENHOUSE GAS AND CARBON

DIOXIDE.

>> Ian: IN CANADA WE'RE SEEING

SOME POLITICIANS EQUATE OPPOSING

A CARBON TAX AS A WAY OF SAVING

MONEY FOR TAXPAYERS, WHICH

SOUNDS APPEALING TO AT LEAST

SOME VOTERS.

>> YES, BUT THAT'S A FALSEHOOD

BECAUSE WHAT IS HAPPENING IS

THAT PEOPLE ARE PAYING MORE

THROUGH THE IMPACTS OF CLIMATE

CHANGE.

AND THE PEOPLE WHO ARE PAYING

ARE THOSE MOST VULNERABLE IN

SOCIETY.

YOU HAVE TO ASK YOURSELF IF

YOU'RE PREPARED TO PUT THAT

EXTRA PRICE ON THE PEOPLE WHO

EXPERIENCE FLOODING, THE PEOPLE

WHO ARE SUFFERING FROM DROUGHT,

THE PEOPLE WHO ARE SUFFERING

FROM COASTAL FLOODING WHEN THERE

ARE STORMS.

ALL OF THOSE THINGS ARE NOW

LINKED TO CLIMATE CHANGE AND THE

CARBON TAXES, ALL THEY DO IS

HELP TO REDISTRIBUTE THE COSTS

FROM THE PEOPLE WHO ARE CAUSING

THE PROBLEM, I.E., THOSE PEOPLE

WHO ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR

GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS AND

PUTTING THE PRICE BACK ON THEIR

SHOULDERS RATHER THAN ON THE

PEOPLE WHO ARE DEALING WITH THE

CONSEQUENCES.

THIS IS REALLY ABOUT THE

FAIRNESS OF THE SYSTEM.

IT'S SIMPLY NOT FAIR TO ALLOW

PEOPLE TO EMIT GREENHOUSE GASES

AND TO EXPECT EVERYONE ELSE TO

PICK UP THE COSTS.

>> Ian: BOB WARD, THANK YOU FOR

SPEAKING WITH US.

>>> NOW TO A MISSING PERSONS

CASE THAT HAD THE WORLD LOOKING

FOR ANSWERS.

MENG HONGWEI WAS WITH INTERPOL

WHEN HE DISAPPEARED 13 DAYS AGO.

BUT MENG WAS A SENIOR OFFICIAL

OF THE RULING COMMUNIST PARTY.

WHEN HE TOOK THE INTERPOL JOB

TWO YEARS AGO SOME FEARED THAT

HE MIGHT BE A TOOL OF THE

REGIME.

AS SASA PETRICIC TELLS US, HE

NOW SEEMS MORE OF A TARGET.

>> Reporter: IT SEEMS LIKE

SOMETHING OUT OF A MYSTERY

NOVEL.

THE HEAD OF INTERPOL FLIES FROM

FRANCE TO HIS NATIVE CHINA AND

APPARENTLY DISAPPEARS AMID

BEIJING'S SECRECY.

MENG HONGWEI, THE FACE OF THE

WORLD POLICE BODY, GONE.

HE SENDS ONE FINAL CELLPHONE

TEXT TO HIS WIFE, AN OMINOUS,

JOAJY OEMOJI OF A BUTCHER KNIFE AND TO

WAIT FOR HIS CALL.

SHE SAID IT NEVER CAME.

SHE TELLS REPORTERS THAT SHE'S

WORRIED ABOUT HER HUSBAND'S

SAFETY.

AND FOR DAYS EVEN THE SLEUTHS AT

INTERPOL CAN'T FIND THEIR

LEADER.

AT A NEWS CONFERENCE TODAY THE

CHINESE FOREIGN MINISTRY

OFFICIAL CONFIRMED THAT MENG IS

BEING HELD BY BEIJING.

>> [SPEAKING CHINESE]

>> Reporter: MENG HONGWEI IS

SUSPECTED OF BRIBERY AND BEING

INVESTIGATED FOR CORRUPTION,

SAID THE SPOKESMAN.

MENG HAS SUBMITTED HIS

RESIGNATION AS PRESIDENT OF

INTERPOL, HE SAID.

IT'S NOT THE FIRST TIME THAT

SOMEONE HAS SIMPLY VANISHED HERE

HERE.

CHINA'S BEST KNOWN ACTRESS BIG

BING DISAPPEARED IN JULY, ONLY

TO APPEAR LAST WEEK WITH AN

ONLINE APOLOGY AND A BILL FOR

MILLIONS IN UNPAID TAXES.

SHE PRAISED THE COMMUNIST PARTY

FOR ITS HELP.

THE HONG KONG BUSINESSMEN HAVE

BEEN FORCIBLY AND SECRETLY

BROUGHT TO MAINLAND CHINA TO

FACE CHARGES AND THE HUNDREDS OF

PARTY OFFICIALS, EVEN TOP ONES,

HAVE BEEN SNARED IN A CAMPAIGN

TO STOP CORRUPTION.

[Applause]

POLITICS MAY ALSO HAVE PLAYED A

ROLE IN THE CASE OF MENG AS

RUMOURS SWIRL IN BEIJING THAT HE

WAS ASSOCIATED WITH A GROUP THAT

HAS FALLEN OUT OF FAVOUR WITH

PRESIDENT XI JINPING AND CHINA'S

RULING ELITE.

WHATEVER THE REASON FOR MENG'S

DETENTION IT MUST HAVE BEEN

IMPORTANT TO CHINA.

THEY TOOK PRIDE IN THE PRESIDENT

OF INTERPOL AND NOW ITS

REPUTATION WILL TAKE A HIT.

THE WAY THAT THIS UNFOLDED

HIGHLIGHTS THE NATURE OF THE

JUSTICE SYSTEM HERE, STILL

LARGELY CLOAKED IN SECRECY.

SASA PETRICIC, CBC NEWS,

BEIJING.

>> Ian: NOW TO WASHINGTON WHERE

A VICIOUS POLITICAL FIGHT HAS

CULMINATED IN THIS MOMENT OF

TRIUMPH FOR BRETT KAVANAUGH.

>> THE SENATE CONFIRMATION WAS

CONTENTIOUS AND EMOTIONAL.

I TAKE THIS OFFICE WITH

GRATITUDE AND NO BITTERNESS.

>> Ian: AT THE WHITE HOUSE

TONIGHT KAVANAUGH REFERRED TO

THE SEXUAL ASSAULT ACCUSATION

AGAINST HIM WHICH DELAYED HIS

CONFIRMATION AND THREATENED TO

DERAIL IT.

EARLIER TODAY TRUMP DENOUNCED

THOSE ACCUSATIONS IN HIS

STRONGEST TERMS YET.

>> President Donald Trump: THE

THINGS THAT THEY SAID ABOUT HIM,

I DON'T THINK THEY EVER HEARD OF

THE WORD.

IT WAS ALL MADE UP, IT WAS

FABRICATED AND IT WAS A

DISGRACE.

>> Ian: TRUMP BLAMED THE WHOLE

CONTROVERSY ON STEAMING

DEMOCRATS.

HE SAID THAT ANY ATTEMPT TO

IMPEACH KAVANAUGH WOULD BE AN

INSULT TO ALL AMERICANS.

>> YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW THE

WEATHER AND THAT YOU HAVE LISTEN

WHEN THEY SAY TO EVACUATE.

DON'T WAIT TO THE LAST MINUTE.

>> Ian: THERE'S A RACE AGAINST

TIME IN THE FLORIDA PANHANDLE.

THEY'RE IN THE PATH OF HURRICANE

MICHAEL.

A STATE OF EMERGENCY HAS BEEN

DECLARED FOR FLORIDA AND

ALABAMA.

THE STORM IS EXPECTED TO

MAKELANDFALL WEDNESDAY

LANDFALL ON WEDNESDAY.

JOHANNA WAGSTAFFE IS WATCHING

THIS STORM FOR US.

JO, EXPLAIN FOR US WHY THERE'S

PARTICULAR CONCERNS ABOUT THIS

STORM.

>> Reporter: WELL, IAN,

HURRICANE MICHAEL IS HIGHLY

LIKELY TO BECOME THE STRONGEST

STORM TO MAKE U.S. LANDFALL SO

FAR THIS SEASON.

AS IT MOVES ACROSS THE GULF OF

MEXICO OVER THE NEXT 36-48 HOURS

IT WILL MOVE INTO VERY WARM

WATERS, MUCH WARMER THAN NORMAL

FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR, AND THAT

WILL FEED INTO WHAT IS CALLED

RAPID INTENSIFICATION.

SO GROWING FROM A CATEGORY 1 TO

A CATEGORY 3 IN JUST UNDER TWO

DAYS.

THAT WILL MAKE IT A MAJOR

HURRICANE UPON LANDFALL.

AND THE OTHER CONCERN AS THE

GULF OF MEXICO HAS SHOWN US IN

ITS HISTORICAL TRACKS, STORM

SURGE IS A BIG CONCERN WITH

THESE KINDS OF LAND FALLING

SYSTEMS.

THEY HAVE A VERY SHALLOW BUT

LONG COASTLINE.

AND THAT IS A BIG CONCERN WITH

THIS STORM, IAN.

>> Ian: YOU KNOW THE LAST BIG

STORM TO ROLL INTO THE UNITED

STATES DOES DID NOT MEET THE

EXPECTATIONS OF FORECASTERS IN

TERMS OF WHERE IT WAS AND HOW

STRONG IT WAS.

BUT THIS ONE SEEMS DIFFERENT

THOUGH?

>> Reporter: IT'S TRUE,

THERE'S A MUCH HIGHER CONFIDENCE

IN THE FORECAST MODELS, EVEN

THIS EARLY OUT, AS FAR AS THE

EXACT LANDFALL, THE INTENSITY

AND THE TIMING.

NOW I WANT TO SHOW YOU A SERIES

OF THE DIFFERENT FORECAST

MODELS.

THIS IS WHAT WE CALL A SPAGHETTI

PLOT.

YOU CAN SEE HOW THEY'RE ALL

TARGETING IN ON THAT FLORIDA

PANHANDLE.

NOW THERE'S STILL A FEW OUTLIERS

AND THERE'S UNCERTAINTY AS FAR

AS THE TIMING, A RANGE BETWEEN

WEDNESDAY MORNING AND WEDNESDAY

EVENING.

AND THAT MAY CHANGE EXACT

LANDFALL.

BUT, IAN, THIS IS A MUCH HIGHER

CONFIDENCE THAN WE'RE USED TO

SEEING THIS FAR OUT.

>> Ian: JOHANNA, THANK YOU.

>> Reporter: YOU'RE WELCOME.

>> Ian: THERE'S A LOT MORE TO

COME TONIGHT ON "THE

NATIONAL"...

>>> THEY HAVE ENTERTAINED

CHILDREN AND SOLD MILLIONS OF

ALBUMS.

THEY WILL HAVE A FAREWELL TOUR.

>>> IT MAY NOT LOOK LIKE MUCH

ANYMORE BUT THIS IS A PIECE OF

CANADIAN HISTORY AND IT'S UP FOR

SALE.

WE'LL TELL YOU WHY.

>>> AND LATER AN IN-DEPTH

INVESTIGATION INTO APPLE.

"THE NATIONAL" GOES UNDERCOVER

TO EXAMINE THE TACTICS THAT CAN

MAKE YOU SPEND BIG BUCKS INSTEAD

OF MAKING A SIMPLE REPAIR.

>> BASICALLY ALL OF THE

COMPONENTS WE NEED TO REPLACE

IT'S GOING TO COST MORE THAN

$1,000.

>> IT WILL COST MORE THAN A

THOUSAND DOLLARS?

>>

(*)

(*) I LOVE YOU

?OIS >> Ian: FOR DECADES, THEY HAVE

LOVED THE TRIO THAT BECAME A DUO

AFTER LOIS DIED OF CANCER THREE

YEARS AGO.

BUT HER LEGACY LIVES ON THROUGH

THE MUSIC.

NOW IN THEIR 70s, SHARON AND

GRAHAM LOVE PERFORMING AS MUCH

AS EVER.

OUR TASHAUNA REID RECENTLY

CAUGHT UP WITH THEM AS THEY

GEARED UP FOR ONE LAST TOUR.

(*)

* THEY TALK ABOUT LOVE

* TALK ABOUT

>> Reporter: WHEN SHARON AND

GRAHAM MORRISON STARTED MAKING

MUSIC 40 YEARS AGO THEY HAD NO

IDEA THEY'D STILL BE AT IT

TODAY.

>> WE THOUGHT THAT WE'D MAKE A

RECORD AND IT WOULD BE NICE.

>> BUT VERY, VERY QUICKLY IT

BECAME CLEAR THAT A CAREER WAS

UNFOLDING IN FRONT OF US.

* ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM

>> Reporter: IN 1978, ALONG

WITH THE LATE LOIS, THE THREE

MADE THEIR BEVIEW.

>> CHURCH CHOIRS, THOSE ARE ALL

MOSTLY GONE.

PEOPLE HAVE THE URGE TO PUT

THEIR VOICES TOGETHER AND TO

SING TOGETHER SO ABSENT THOSE

THINGS WE JUST KIND OF WALKED IN

AND SAID, OKAY, COME WITH US.

>> Reporter: THEIR UNCANNY

ABILITY TO CONNECT WITH KIDS AND

ADULTS TOOK THEM ACROSS CANADA

AND THE U.S., EVEN A PERFORMANCE

AT THE WHITE HOUSE.

THE TRIO SOLD MORE THAN THREE

MILLION ALBUMS AND STARRED IN

THEIR OWN TV SHOWS.

>> HI, SHARON.

>> HI, SHANNA.

>> OUR CONCERTS AND THE KIDS

STOOD UP TO DO SOMETHING, SO DID

THE PARENTS.

WHATEVER THEY DID, THEY DID

TOGETHER.

AND I THINK THAT IT WAS A RICH

EXPERIENCE FOR FAMILIES TO SHARE

THAT.

THIS WAS OUR 10th

ANNIVERSARY...

>> Reporter: DESPITE THE

EVER-CHANGING LANDSCAPE OF

CHILDREN'S ENTERTAINMENT, THE

GROUP MANAGED TO STAY RELEVANT

FOR GENERATIONS OF FANS.

>> WHEN WE DO OUR CONCERTS,

NOTHING HAS CHANGED.

THEY RESPOND IN EXACTLY THE SAME

WAY.

>> ONCE YOU PULL THEM AWAY FROM

THEIR SCREENS --

>> THEY'RE READY TO PARTICIPATE

AND DO IT AND BE PART OF IT.

>> Reporter: AND NOW SHARON

AND BRAM ARE GOING ON TOUR ONE

LAST TIME ACROSS CANADA.

INCLUDING A STOP WHERE IT ALL

STARTED AT YOUNG PEOPLE THEATRE

IN TORONTO.

>> THEY ESTABLISHED THAT

INTIMATE RELATIONSHIP WITH AN

AUDIENCE AND ALSO THE LIVE

CONNECTION.

AND I THINK THAT OVER THE YEARS

THEY'VE MAINTAINED THAT SENSE

THAT THE AUDIENCE IS WITH THEM

AND SINGING ALONG WITH THEM.

(*)

>> Reporter: THIS FAMILY HAS

SHARED LOVE FOR THEIR MUSIC

ACROSS THREE GENERATIONS, EVEN

AT A WEDDING.

>> MY FATHER/DAUGHTER DANCE WAS

THIS BECAUSE IT WAS JUST

SOMETHING THAT MY DAD AND I --

IT CAME TO MIND AS SOMETHING

THAT WE SHARED WHEN I WAS A KID.

>> THEY'RE ROOTED IN WHAT IS

GOOD AND SORT OF A GOOD SENSE OF

VALUES.

>> THEY'RE FAMILIAR AND THEY'RE

FUN AND YOU CAN BE SILLY AND

IT'S JUST NICE TO HAVE SOMETHING

THAT YOU CAN SHARE ALL TOGETHER.

(*)

>> Reporter: AND AS SHARON AND

BRAM HEAD ON THE ROAD ONE LAST

TIME THEY SAY THAT THEY'RE

GRATEFUL FOR THE CAREERS THEY'VE

HAD.

>> IF WE HAD TO IDENTIFY ONE

REALLY KEY THING THAT WE WOULD

HAVE HOPED TO DO, THAT WOULD BE

BRINGING MUSIC AND PUTTING MUSIC

INTO PEOPLE'S LIVES SO IT'S

THEIRS FOREVER.

(*)

>> Reporter: TASHAUNA REID,

CBC NEWS, TORONTO.

>> Ian: UP NEXT ON "THE

NATIONAL"... WE GO IN-DEPTH AND

UNDERCOVER TO INVESTIGATE APPLE.

ARE PEOPLE PRESSURED TO BUY NEW

PRODUCTS INSTEAD OF REPAIRING

THE ONES THEY ALREADY HAVE?

>> THIS STEMS FROM A MENTALITY

THAT THEY'RE THE CENTRE OF THE

(*)

(*)

>> I'M EXCITED TO SHOW YOU WHAT

IS BY FAR THE MOST ADVANCED

IPHONE WE HAVE EVER CREATED.

(*)

>> Ian: THE LAUNCH OF A NEW

IPHONE IS NEVER DULL AND IT'S

THE HYPE LIKE THIS THAT HAS MADE

APPLE ONE OF THE MOST VALUABLE

COMPANIES IN THE WORLD.

ITS CUSTOMERS ARE FIERCELY LOYAL

WHEN IT COMES TO COMPUTERS AND

ELECTRONIC GADGETS, THEY TEND TO

BUY NOTHING ELSE.

THAT'S THE THING, THEIR

FAVOURITE BRAND IS ACCUSED OF

DECEPTIVE BUSINESS PRACTISES AND

MANY OF THOSE LOYAL CUSTOMERS

ARE FEELING RIPPED OFF.

TONIGHT TERENCE McKENNA MEETS

SOME OF THE PEOPLE WHO ARE

ATTACKING THE APPLE EMPIRE.

(*)

>> Reporter: THIS IS THE IMAGE

OF AN APPLE STORE THAT THE

COMPANY WANTS YOU TO SEE.

MASSES OF CUSTOMERS HUNGRY FOR

THE LATEST PRODUCT.

KNOWLEDGEABLE YOUNG STAFFERS

EAGER TO SERVE THEM.

A MAD RUSH TO BE AMONG THE FIRST

TO BUY A BRILLIANT NEW DEVICE.

LATELY, HOWEVER, THAT POSITIVE

IMAGE IS BEING TARNISHED BY

STORIES OF CUSTOMERS BEING

OVERCHARGED FOR REPAIRS IN APPLE

STORES.

WE DECIDED TO USE A HIT

HIDDEN CAMERA TO VERIFY REPORTS

THAT APPLE CUSTOMERS ARE OFTEN

TOLD THAT THEIR MALFUNCTIONING

COMPUTERS ARE NOT WORTH FIXING,

EVEN WHEN MINOR REPAIRS COULD

REMEDY THE PROBLEM.

>> HOW ARE YOU?

>> I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT AT

2:30.

>> COME ON IN.

>> Reporter: OUR TEAM CAME TO

A TORONTO APPLE STORE WITH A MAC

BOOK COMPUTER THAT HAD A COMMON

PROBLEM -- THE SCREEN HAD

STOPPED WORKING.

>> IT'S LIKE VERY DIM WHEN I TRY

TO TURN IT ON.

>> OKAY, SO WHAT I'LL DO IS I'LL

JUMP OUT THE BACK AND HAVE A

LOOK ON THE INSIDE.

>> SURE.

(*)

>> THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE.

SO THERE IS A LOT OF LIQUID

THAT'S GOTTEN ON THE INSIDE.

SO I TOOK A LITTLE PICTURE.

THE LITTLE RED DOTS HERE,

THEY'RE NORMALLY WHITE.

IT MEANS THEY CAME INTO CONTACT

WITH LIQUID.

SO FOR IT TO BE BASICALLY ALL

OVER THE WHOLE COMPUTER, IT

MEANS IT FOUND SOMETHING'S GONE

THROUGH THE WHOLE THING.

SO THAT WOULD NEED TO BE LOOKING

AT REPLACING QUITE A FEW

COMPONENTS.

>> ARE YOU SURE?

COULD IT BE SOMETHING ELSE AS

WELL?

>> WELL, REGARDLESS OF WHAT THE

CAUSE OF IT IT IS, IF IT ISN'T

THE LIQUID, WE HAVE TO FIX THE

LIQUID.

SO IT'S NOT LIKE... WE CAN'T DO

PARTIAL REPAIRS.

>> WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS NOW?

>> WHAT I WAS GOING TO SAY IS

BASICALLY ALL OF THE COMPONENTS

WILL COST MORE THAN A THOUSAND

DOLLARS.

>> TO FIX IT ENTIRELY WILL COST

MORE THAN A THOUSAND DOLLARS?

>> YEAH.

SO AT THE VERY LEAST WE'D NEED

TO REPLACE THE LOGIC BOARD AND

THE TOP CASE.

SO WE'RE LOOKING AT $600 AND

$1,100 WITH A LABOUR OF $10 ON.

AND THEN IF WE NEED TO REPLACE

THE DISPLAY THAT'S ANOTHER $780.

SO THE DISPLAY -- WE MAY NOT

NEED TO REPLACE.

BUT WE'RE STILL LOOKING AT A

TOTAL AROUND $1,200.

>> WOW!

JUST TO BE CLEAR THERE'S NO

CHEAPER ALTERNATIVE FOR THIS?

>> UM... I MEAN THAT COST IS

VERY CLOSE TO THE COST OF BUYING

A NEW COMPUTER.

IN TERMS OF FIXING IT IN THE

STORE?

NO.

>> Reporter: MANY APPLE

CUSTOMERS HAVE SHARED SIMILAR

EXPERIENCES.

SO WE DECIDED TO DOUBLE CHECK

THE DIAGNOSIS.

ON FIRST AVENUE IN MANHATTAN

THERE'S A SMALL COMPUTER REPAIR

STORE RUN BY LEWIS ROSSMAN.

HE STARTED FIXING COMPUTERS IN

COLLEGE AND NOW MAKES

YouTube VIDEOS TEACHING

PEOPLE HOW TO REPAIR COMPLEX

ITEMS.

>> OVERALL APPLE TRIES TO GET

YOU TO PURCHASE A NEW DEVICE

INSTEAD OF REPAIR YOUR OLD

ONE...

>> Reporter: HIS VIDEOS OFTEN

DRAW MILLIONS OF VIEWS.

WE BROUGHT HIM THE COMPUTER THAT

THE APPLE STORE IN TORONTO SAYS

IS NOT WORTH FIXING.

>> HAVE A SEAT.

>> SO THIS IS A MAC BOOK PRO

THAT THE APPLE STORE SAID IT

WOULD COST $1,200 TO FIX AND

WASN'T WORTH DOING.

>> OKAY LET'S LOOK TO SEE IF

THAT IS TRUE.

YOU CAN SEE THE APPLE LOGO

THERE.

IF I TAKE A LIGHT AND I PUT IT

THROUGH THERE, YOU CAN SEE

EVERYTHING ON THE SCREEN.

THIS IS MY MICROSCOPE LIGHT AND

WHEN I PUT IT RIGHT THROUGH

HERE, YOU CAN SEE THAT THERE'S A

CURSOR THERE AND IT'S MOVING.

SO MOST OF THE SCREEN IS WORKING

PROPERLY.

IT'S JUST THAT THE BACK LIGHT IS

NOT WORKING.

THIS COULD BE EITHER DUE TO A

BAD SCREEN, A BAD MOTHER BOARD,

A BAD CABLE.

WE'LL FIGURE THAT OUT ONCE WE

OPEN IT UP.

ALL RIGHT, SO LET'S TAKE A LOOK

ON THE INSIDE OF THIS.

NOW THIS IS WHERE THE SCREEN IS

GOING TO CONNECT TO THE

COMPUTER.

>> OKAY.

>> SO THE FIRST THING I'D WANT

TO DO IS TO EXAMINE THAT AREA TO

SEE WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE.

YOU CAN SEE THE PIN STICKING

OUT?

THAT IS THE PIN FOR THE BACK

LIGHT AND IT'S PROBABLY NOT

MAKING CONTACT BECAUSE AUTO BENT

OUTWARDS.

I GOT MY SET OF TWEEZERS OVER

HERE AND OIL JUST TROY TO PUSH

THAT BACK INTO THE SLOT AND TRY

TO GET IT BACK INTO ITS GROOVE.

SO THAT WHEN I REPLUG IN THE

CONNECTOR IT WILL WORK.

>> AT THE APPLE STORE THEY

SUGGESTED THIS WAS WATER DAMAGE.

>> YOU CAN SEE THAT THERE ARE

WATER INDICATORS THAT HAVE

TURNED RED SO THAT'S WHY THEY

GOT THAT IDEA, AND THEREBY, THE

BATTERY.

SO THIS IS A WATER INDICATOR AND

THESE TURN RED WHEN THEY SEE

LIQUID.

HOWEVER, THE THING HERE IS THAT

THESE NOT ONLY TURN RID WHEN

THEY SEE LIQUID BUT THEY TURN

RED ANYTIME THAT THERE'S

HUMIDITY.

SO IF YOU HAVE THIS IN A VERY

HUMID ROOM ALL OF THESE SENSORS

WILL TURN, EVEN IF YOU NEVER

SPILLED LIQUID ON THE MACHINE.

ALL RIGHT, SO PLUG THIS BACK IN.

AND HOPE FOR THE BEST.

AS YOU CAN SEE WE'VE GOT AN

APPLE AND WE HAVE A LIGHT.

>> SO IT'S FIXED?

THAT TOOK YOU LIKE 1.5 MINUTES.

>> MAYBE.

>> SO IF I WALKED OFF THE STREET

WITH THIS PROBLEM WHAT WOULD YOU

CHARGE FOR THE REPAIR THAT YOU

JUST DID?

>> IF SOMEBODY WANTED ME TO BEND

THE PIN BACK I WOULDN'T CHARGE

THEM FOR THAT AND I WILL SAY I

WILL REWORK YOUR ORIGINAL CABLE

AND IT MAY NOT LAST LONG TERM

BUT IT'S FREE.

IF THEY WANTED TO REPLACE THE

CABLE, FROM $75 TO $150,

DEPENDING ON THE DIFFICULTY OF

OPENING THAT.

BUT FOR THIS WE WOULDN'T CHARGE

AND 99% OF THE TIME JUST BENDING

THE PIN BACK IT WILL ALLOW IT TO

LAST TO THE END LIFE OF THE

COMPUTER.

>> WE ASKED APPLE TO RESPOND TO

THIS.

YOU SAID THAT IT WOULD COST

$1,000.

>> TO FIX IT ENTIRELY WOULD COST

MORE THAN $1,000?

>> YEAH.

>> Reporter: AND TO THE

SIMILAR CORPORATE BEHAVIOUR.

THEY DECLINED TO PROVIDE A

SPOKESMAN BUT ISSUED A STATEMENT

CLAIMING THAT THEIR CUSTOMERS

ARE BEST SERVED BY APPLE'S

CERTIFIED EXPERTS USING GENUINE

PARTS.

THEY DENIED SYSTEMATICALLY

OVERESTIMATING REPAIR COSTS.

HOW OFTEN DO PEOPLE SHOW UP HERE

WITH THE APPLE STORE TELLING

THEM THAT IT CAN'T BE FIXED OR

IT'S TOO EXPENSIVE TO FIX?

>> BETWEEN 10 AND 30 TIMES A

DAY.

>> Reporter: NO KIDDING?

>> YEAH.

>> Reporter: IN CALIFORNIA, I

FIX IT IS THE MOST SUCCESSFUL

THIRD-PARTY REPAIR BUSINESS IN

NORTH AMERICA.

THE BUSINESS TESTS CELLPHONES

AND COMPUTERS, DIAGNOSIS

PROBLEMS THAT REGULARLY OCCUR,

AND DEVELOPS THE TOOLS AND

TECHNIQUES TO REPAIR THEM.

THEY SELL THE TOOLS AND REPAIR

MANUALS OVER THE INTERNET.

I FIX IT HAS 125 EMPLOYEES AND

MAKES $21 MILLION A YEAR.

THE BUSINESS IS OWNED BY KYLE

WIENS WHO IS ALSO A LEADING

SPOKESMAN FOR THE NATIONAL RIGHT

TO REPAIR MOVEMENT.

>> IT USED TO BE THAT IF YOU

BOUGHT SOMETHING THAT YOU'D BE

ABLE TO GET IT FIXED WHEN YOU

NEEDED TO.

AND OVER TIME WE HAVE LOST THAT

ABILITY, WHETHER IT'S A VACUUM

OR A TELEVISION OR A LAPTOP.

IT'S INCREASINGLY MORE

CHALLENGING TO GET ACCESS TO THE

INFORMATION THAT YOU NEED OR FOR

LOCAL SHOPS TO GET THE PARTS.

SO RIGHT TO REPAIR IS A MOVEMENT

AND IT'S A LEGISLATION TO

RESTORE THAT ABILITY TO FIX YOUR

OWN STUFF.

>> Reporter: HOW DOES APPLE

FIT INTO THAT QUESTION?

>> APPLE WANTS COMPLETE CONTROL

OVER THE DEVICE FROM THE MOMENT

THAT YOU BUY IT ALL THE WAY

THROUGH THE END OF LIFE.

AND RIGHT TO REPAIR TAKES SOME

OF THAT CONTROL AWAY FROM THEM

AND PUTS IT IN THE HANDS OF THE

OWNER.

AND THAT'S WHERE FOR A

MANUFACTURER TO SAY THAT WE'RE

MAKING A PRODUCT AND WE'RE GOING

TO PUT IT OUT IN THE WORLD AND

CONTROL EVERY ASPECT OF WHAT

HAPPENS AFTER THE FACT IS

COMPLETE LUNACY.

>> Reporter: WE ASKED KYLE

WIENS TO SHOW US THE TRICKS THAT

APPLE USES TO FOIL REPAIRS

STARTING WITH NON-STANDARD

SCREWS.

>> THIS SCREW IS ON THE BOTTOM

OF THE MACBOOK PRO-AND YOU CAN

SEE THAT IT'S NOT LIKE ANY SCREW

THAT YOU HAVE SEEN BEFORE AND IT

TURNS OUT THAT APPLE INVENTED

THEIR OWN SCREW.

IT'S PURELY THEY WANT TO MAKE

THE DEVICES HARDER FOR NORMAL

PEOPLE TO OPEN WITH THE TOOLS

THEY ALREADY HAVE LAYING AROUND.

>> Reporter: THEN APPLE

STARTED GLUING IN BATTERIES.

>> THIS IS AN iPHONE 8 AND

THIS IS THE BATTERY AND IT'S

GLUED IN AND THAT'S UNFORTUNATE,

IT DOESN'T NEED TO BE GLUED IN.

BATTERIES DIDN'T USED TO BE

GLUED IN.

IT'S A COMMAND ADHESIVES.

OKAY.

YEP, AND IT BROKE.

AND SO... THERE'S YOUR HOME

BUTTON.

>> Reporter: ON SOME APPLE

PHONES THE HOME BUTTON WOULD

HAVE TO BE REPLACED IF THE

SCREEN CRACKS.

IT WAS A CHEAP AND EASY REPAIR

BUT THEN APPLE REPROGRAMMED THE

OPERATING SYSTEM TO DETECT

NON-AUTHORIZED HOME BUTTONS AND

THE PHONE WOULD SUDDENLY STOP

WORKING.

>> IT'S LIKE YOU'RE DRIVING YOUR

CAR AND YOU MAYBE CHANGE OUT THE

TIRES AND YOU HAVE AFTER-MARKET

TIRES AND TESLA PUSHES OUT A

SOFTWARE UPDATE AND YOUR CAR

STOPS DRIVING BECAUSE OF THOSE

AFTER-MARKET TIRES.

IT'S FROM THE MENTALITY THEY'RE

THE CENTRE OF THE UNIVERSE AND

NO ONE ELSE IS DOING ANYTHING

WITH THEIR PRODUCT.

>> Reporter: APPLE INSISTS

THAT ITS PRODUCTS ARE BEST

SERVICED BY ITS OWN STAFF AND

CLEARLY SEES UNAUTHORIZED

THIRD-PARTY REPAIR BUSINESSES AS

THE ENEMY.

LEWIS ROSSMAN AND I FIX IT HAVE

RECEIVED LEGAL THREATS FROM THE

COMPANY WHEN THEY PUBLISHEDY

SCHEMATICS AND REPAIR MANUAL

INFORMATION.

>> I WOULD BE HAPPY WITH A

ROLLBACK ON THE INTELLECTUAL

PROPERTY LAW AND THE

IMMIGRATIONS AND CUSTOMS

ENFORCEMENT LAW THAT ALLOW

PEOPLE TO BE EITHER THROWN IN

JAIL OR PROSECUTED FOR IMPORTING

PARTS AND FOR SHOWING SCHEMATIC.

>> IF YOU POST THAT MANUAL

ONLINE THEY'LL SEND YOU A LEGAL

TAKEDOWN THREAT AND SAYING

THAT'S OUR COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL

AND IF YOU DON'T TAKE IT DOWN

WE'LL SEE YOU UP TO $150,000 IN

DAMAGES PER INCIDENT.

AND THOSE LEGAL THREATS HAVE

REALLY PUT A DAMPER ON REPAIR

INFORMATION ONLINE.

>> Reporter: THE TIDE MAY BE

TURNING AGAINST APPLE ON THE

RIGHT TO REPAIR ISSUE.

THIS IS THE NEW YORK STATE

LEGISLATURE WHERE LEWIS ROSSMAN

AND THE RIGHT TO REPAIR MOVEMENT

HAVE SET UP A REPAIR CAFÉ TO PUT

ON A SHOW FOR POLITICIANS.

>> WHICH ONE, ONE, TWO, THREE,

IS COVERING UP THE BATTERY

CONNECTION?

>> PROBABLY THAT ONE.

>> Reporter: SO FAR THIS YEAR

17 U.S. STATES HAVE INTRODUCED

RIGHT-TO-REPAIR LEGISLATION THAT

WOULD FORCE APPLE AND OTHER

COMPANIES TO PROVIDE REPAIR

MANUALS AND SPARE PARTS TO

THIRD-PARTY REPAIR BUSINESSES.

>> I WOULD LIKE APPLE TO CHANGE

BY ACKNOWLEDGING IF THEY'RE NOT

WILLING TO DO CERTAIN JOBS MAYBE

SOMEBODY ELSE WOULD AND TO

JUST -- I'M NOT EVEN ASKING THEM

TO EXTEND AN OLIVE BRANCH.

I'M JUST ASKING THEM TO STOP

EXTENDING THE KNIFE.

>> Reporter: WHAT HAPPENS WHEN

THE PROPOSED LEGISLATION PASSES?

>> THE MOMENT THAT ONE STATE

PASSES THINGS, THE DAM IS GOING

TO BURST.

SO IF ONTARIO DECIDED THAT WE'LL

PASS RIGHT-TO-REPAIR

LEGISLATION, THAT COULD PASS IT

FOR THE WORLD.

BECAUSE MANUFACTURERS WON'T

PROVIDE PRODUCTS DIFFERENTLY TO

ONE JURISDICTION, THEY WANT TO

SIMPLIFY THEIR OPERATIONS.

>> Reporter: THE

RIGHT-TO-REPAIR PROVEMENT HAS

PUT A SPOTLIGHT ON SOME OF

APPLE'S PREDATORY BUSINESS

PRACTICES.

>> THAT IS COST OF BUYING A NEW

COMPUTER.

>> Reporter: AND MANY APPLE

CUSTOMERS ARE STARTING TO WONDER

WHETHER THE COMPANY REALLY HAS

THEIR BEST INTEREST AT HEART.

>> Ian: THE DOCUMENTARY

CONTINUES AFTER THE BREAK.

WHEN WE COME BACK APPLE

CUSTOMERS ACCUSE THE COMPANY OF

A SNEAKY POLICY THAT PRESSURED

THEM TO BUY NEW SMARTPHONES.

>> IT WAS SORT OF A EUREKA

MOMENT AND THAT'S WHAT PROMPTED

ME TO TAKE A REALLY DEEP DIVE

INTO

(*)

(*)

>> Ian: AFTER AN INCIDENT LAST

WINTER, APPLE FACED A FRESH

ALLEGATION.

CUSTOMERS SUSPECTED THAT THE

COMPANY HAD A POLICY DESIGN TO

PRESSURE THEM INTO BUYING NEW

SMARTPHONES.

HERE'S TERENCE McKENNA WITH

PART TWO OF TONIGHT'S

DOCUMENTARY.

(*)

>> Reporter: ONE NIGHT LAST

DECEMBER AT THE OFFICE OF A

TORONTO SOFTWARE FIRM CALLED

PRIMATE LABS, FOUNDER JOHN POOL

WAS TRYING TO SOLVE A MYSTERY.

HIS COMPANY SELLS AN APPLICATION

CALLED "GEEK BENCH" THAT

MILLIONS OF CUSTOMERS USE TO

ANALYSE THE PERFORMANCE OF THEIR

CELLPHONES AND COMPUTERS.

HIS CUSTOMERS WERE COMPLAINING

THAT THEIR APPLE iPHONES WERE

SUDDENLY RUNNING A LOT SLOWER

AND THEY WANTED TO KNOW WHY.

>> MY WIFE JUST OFFHAND

MENTIONED THAT iPHONE FELT

SLOW AND THE NUMBERS WERE

SIGNIFICANTLY SLOWER THAN WHAT I

EXPECT FROM A PHONE LIKE THAT,

TO THE POINT THAT I DIDN'T

BELIEVE THAT IT WAS HAPPENING.

>> Reporter: THEN HE NOTICED

AN ANONYMOUS POST ON THE

INTERNET THAT SAID, IF YOUR

IPHONE IS SLOW, REPLACE THE

BATTERY.

>> IT WAS A SORT OF EUREKA

MOMENT AND IT PROMPT MEADE TO

TAKE A DEEP DIVE INTO OUR

DATABASE OF PERFORMANCE DATA AND

SEE WHAT WAS HAPPENING.

>> Reporter: POOL PLOTTED THE

PERFORMANCE OF MILLIONS OF

IPHONES ON A GRAPH.

THE PERFORMANCE OF MANY PHONES

WAS CUT DOWN AFTER THE LATEST

UPGRADE FROM APPLE.

JOHN POOL PUBLISHED HIS FINDINGS

WHICH AMOUNTED TO A SCIENTIFIC

ACCUSATION THAT APPLE

HEADQUARTERS IN CUPERTINO,

CALIFORNIA, WAS INTENTIONALLY

SLOWING DOWN CUSTOMERS' PHONES

WITHOUT TELLING THEM.

TO HIS SURPRISE THE COMPANY

QUICKLY ADMITTED IT BUT INSISTED

THEY WERE DOING NOTHING WRONG.

>> WELL, MEANWHILE WE'RE WAITING

THE DECISION TO SEE WHETHER

APPLE WILL FACE A CLASS-ACTION

LAWSUIT.

>> THEY ADMITTED TO SLOWING DOWN

OLDER iPHONES...

>> TO SAVE BATTERY LIFE.

>> Reporter: THE ADMISSION

THAT IT WAS SLOWING DOWN THE

PERFORMANCE TRIGGERED NEWS

REPORTSES AROUND THE WORLD.

IT LOOKED LIKE A CASE OF PLANNED

OBLESSENS, TO PRESSURE CONSUMERS

TO BUY NEW PRODUCTS WHEN THEY

DIDN'T HAVE TO.

BUT APPLE'S C.E.O., TIM COOK,

DENIED IT.

>> WE FOCUS ON THE USER

EXPERIENCE SO AT THE HEART OF

ANY DECISION THAT WE MAKE IS THE

USER.

>> Reporter: THERE HAS BEEN AN

INTERNATIONAL UPSURGE IN ANGER

FROM APPLE CUSTOMERS.

AT THIS DEMONSTRATION IN PARIS,

APPLE IS PORTRAYED AS THE EVIL

EMPIRE, ACCUSED OF TAX EVASION

AND CHEATING CUSTOMERS.

AND THEY CALLED IT A CRIME AND

HAS PLACED APPLE UNDER FORMAL

INVESTIGATION.

>> SO MY FATHER WAS A JUDGE...

>> Reporter: ON APPLE'S HOME

TURF IN CALIFORNIA, CONSUMER

RIGHTS LAWYER SHANNA SCARLET WAS

PREVIOUSLY PART OF A SUCCESSFUL

LAWSUIT THAT FORCED APEL TO PAY

A $450 MILLION FINE FOR BREAKING

U.S. ANTI-TRUST LAWS.

NOW SHE HAS LAUNCHED A

CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT ALLEGING

THAT APPLE HAS TRICKED ITS

CUSTOMERS.

>> THEY HAVE ACTIVELY REACHED

INTO CONSUMERS THROUGH THE

OPERATING SYSTEM AND MADE WHAT

IS A LARGE CHANGE IN TERMS OF

THE LO PERFORMANCE WITHOUT

DISCLOSING IT TO CONSUMERS.

THAT IS A FAIRLY INVASIVE ACT

FOR A COMPANY TO DO.

>> Reporter: APPLE DECLINED

OUR REQUESTS FOR AN INTERVIEW.

BUT WHEN THE GOVERNMENT OF

CANADA DEMANDED AN EXPLANATION

FROM THE COMPANY AT A

PARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEE HEARING

IN MARCH...

>> WITH US TODAY WE HAVE FROM

APPLE CANADA...

>> Reporter: APPLE CANADA

LAWYERS AGREED TO APPEAR.

>> THE SOLE PURPOSE OF THE

SOFTWARE UPDATE IN THIS CASE WAS

TO HELP CUSTOMERS TO CONTINUE TO

USE OLDER iPHONES WITH AGING

BATTERIES WITHOUT SHUTDOWNS.

NOT TO DRIVE THEM TO BUY NEWER

DEVICES.

>> I THINK THAT IF APPLE WERE

TRULY INTERESTED IN THE

CONSUMERS' INTEREST, MAYBE IT

COULD HAVE TOLD THEM THAT THE

ENTIRE PROBLEM WOULD HAVE BEEN

SOLVED BY A BATTERY REPLACEMENT,

THAT IT WASN'T NECESSARY TO FACE

THE STARK CHOICES OF LO THROTTLING

PERFORMANCE AND AUTOMATIC

SHUTDOWN OR BUYING A NEW PHONE.

THERE WAS A FOURTH OPTION ON THE

TABLE AND THAT WAS TO JUST

REPLACE THE BATTERY.

>> I DON'T THINK THAT APPLE DID

ANYTHING WRONG.

>> YOU HAVE FIVE MINUTES.

>> Reporter: APPLE'S LAWYER

WAS CHALLENGED BY NATHANER

SKIN-SMITH WHO POINTED OUT THAT

APPLE HAD GIVEN AN APOLOGY FOR

ITS ACTIONS.

>> YOU HAVE STRANGELY TODAY SAID

THAT APPLE DID NOTHING WRONG BUT

THE ISSUE IS DISCLOSURE AND

APPLE APOLOGIZED FOR

NONDISCLOSURE IN RELATION TO THE

SLOW PERFORMANCE.

SO WAS THE NONDISCLOSURE

INTENTIONAL OR INADVERTENT?

>> WE DID NOT NONDISCLOSE

ANYTHING.

WE DIDN'T HAVE ANYTHING TO

DISCLOSE.

>> FOR THE SLOW PERFORMANCE OF

THE PHONE.

THAT YOU DID NOT DISCLOSE TO

CONSUMERS.

WAS THAT INTENTIONAL OR

INADVERTENT?

>> IT WAS NOT INTENTIONAL.

>> Reporter: APPLE'S ADMISSION

THEY DID NOT PROPERLY DISCLOSE

THE SLOWDOWN IS KEY AGAINST THE

LAWSUIT AGAINST THE COMPANY.

A CASE THAT SHE SAYS PROVES THE

VALUE OF CONSUMER CLASS ACTIONS.

>> HOW ARE YOU, ONE PERSON,

Go BTS w/ Jace Norman & Riele Downs on the Halloween Special 'Danger Things' | Nick - Duration: 5:00.

This is episode 502, it is called Danger Things!

Here we are, in this episode we're doing the Halloween Special

and it's a really exciting one that we have different dimensions.

Basically a monster kinda comes and starts taking kids from Swellview

and we don't know what's up, so we gotta hunt them down.

Did you hear that?

- We gotta go in and save them! - Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you do!

Go, go, go, go, go ahead!

[laughing]

Wait, what?

You heard the scientist,

only one person can go through the portal!

- We have never said that. - Alright, fine!

[laughing]

And er... it's not exactly what we think when we get there

and it's really exciting, it's really fun, it's really funny.

Yep, we're having a good time.

Is everyone having fun?

- Yeah! - Yeah!

Great!

What the butt is going on?

They had to change a line because I could not physically say it.

Or it wasn't that I couldn't say it, I just couldn't read it.

Er.. and so I er...

You know, every time I would read my script in rehearsal,

I'd just read a different word, 'cause I'd just make it up in my head,

'cause I didn't know what it was.

See, we'll go to Junk N' Stuff, we'll get you a wig,

everything will be just fine, let's go!

They're not here, OK?

My dad's rich uncle died

and he has to stay overnight at Hankery Mart or something like that

in order to claim his inheritance!

They're gone, OK?

My dad's rich uncle died and now he's staying overnight

at this haunted mansion in order to claim the inheritance.

But they changed it and that's what they call a pity rewrite.

Guys, guys, we have a super serious emergency!

[laughing]

Jasper, you sound ridiculous!

Yeah, why are you talking like that?

I smacked my face on the door to Junk N' Stuff

when I tried to run down here to tell you that your--

That your sister, Piper, disappeared!

So the way we make an episode is we come in first day and we do a table read.

Junk N' Stuff is also on the X

and check out what's right in the middle of the X!

Some place called Evil Science Corp.

I don't like the sound of that!

[laughing]

And er... once we've er... gotten the table read out of the way,

we put it up on its feet, we block it out,

which means we figure out all the physicality of the scene,

sometimes there's dialogue changes at that point.

It's not a bunch of missing dogs, it's a bunch of missing kids!

What, missing kids?

That's way more serious!

And we cut!

Missing kids? That's way more serious!

[laughing]

Dude, I worked all day on that.

Depending on whether or not a line is working,

- they will change it-- - or a joke is working.

Or even if we add jokes, sometimes they'll add it in the script.

Ah, yes, I am handsome.

[laughing]

Any Ray!

[laughing]

And then we do a producer's run through.

And a run through is basically like all the producers

and people who work around the stage, they come and they watch us

kinda do the whole episode to kinda see how it plays out,

- if they wanna change anything or not. - And then we shoot it,

- for three days in a row, - We're shooting today, just now.

yeah we're shooting right now

and that's when they bring out all the crew and the lights

- and the cameras and the action. - and the action.

- Oh, nice, I see what you did there. - I know.

- We're very slick. - Yeah.

Oh my God, what happened to your hair?

[laughing]

I had to put on this wig, a short hair wig,

surprisingly all my hair fit underneath it,

because Piper accidentally cut off all her hair.

So I get to wear actually two wigs in this episode

and I'm gonna go change into the other one right now

and yeah, it's a lot of fun.

What do you think?

Anything is better than what you looked like before.

- Hey! - You asked me what I thought!

This show is always evolving throughout the week,

so they're constantly changing, they're constantly rewriting.

OK, OK, I'll hurry, what's your beef jerky?

[laughing]

My beef is that my sister was kidnapped by some monster,

we don't know where she is, but wherever it is,

it's probably dark and horrible and scary, let's go!

Seeing what works in the show and what doesn't, so...

The script that we read at the beginning

will always be different than the script that we read at the end

by the time we start shooting.

What's your beef jerky?

What-- what's my beef?

My beef is that my sister was kidnapped by some monster, dude

and we've no idea where she is, but wherever she is,

it's probably dark and horrible and just very scary!

OK!

And cut!

So today's the big cast and crew screening

of Danger Things, apparently it turned out so good

that we're all gonna sit down and watch it together,

which is something that we've not done since the pilot which is very exciting.

We shot it a few months ago, we're hearing good things

and now we're gonna see it on the big screen.

Hey, bring me a pumpkin with my face on it.

- Ray? That's right.

OK, is everybody on this channel?

No...

[laughing]

So now, you guys have basically seen the making of an episode,

you saw the table read, rehearsals, shooting, screening.

And you've basically seen it all, I hope you guys enjoyed it.

50 small bathroom storage ideas over toilet

Other than the kitchen, what's the one place where storage is most coveted?

The bathroom!

In my experience, not matter the size, while you might have cute bath towels that don't

hurt the eyes when displayed, some might find it rather awkward to walk into a bathroom

with toilet paper, or worse, feminine products, staring them in the face.

But what are you to do when you have very limited storage space in which to hide all

the "eyesore" toiletries?

Well, I'm sure, if you continue watch this video, you will find at least one of these

50 small bathroom storage ideas over toilet that will be the perfect solution to you problem.

Tulips

Your lips

Oh my

Everyday is special these days

White snow-covered flower

Everything looks different

Honestly you're so beautiful

I'll confess to you my tulips

Red-coloured flower your lips

I want love, now look at me

The sweet fragrance makes me nerves

I'm calling you on the phone without realizing it

I hate the melo in dramas

Oh yeah, I love you, oh my flower (yah)

Feel like walking in the clouds

The air is hazy

More and more our body rising temperature is rising baby

A pretty flower is only you, oh fly

I will be your light shine

You are innocent and thornless

It'd be be a loss to not look

You're my

Tulips you're beautiful

Tulips so lovely

Oh my, would you my flower, oh

Your lips look sweet

Your lips, Im approaching on it

Oh my, I'm going to kiss and confess to you today

My low-toned voice

Wearing my favourite black suit

I'm change (change)

I'm the greatest man in the world

You're halfway across at me

It's obvious that you pretend like you're not

Your eyes say it all

That you want me too

The cafe that we used to go

While sitting face-to face, now start talking

I fell in love with you since the time that I first saw you

Suddenly you got mad at me

Talking to me with a serious look, why why

From now on tell me why

A pretty flower is only you, oh fly

I will be your light shine

You are innocent and thornless

It'd be a loss to not look

You're my

Tulips, you're beautiful

Tulips, so lovely

Oh my, would you be my flower, oh

Your lips look sweet

Your lips, I'm approaching on it

Oh my! I'm going to kiss and confess to you

Let me be with you

Gently by my side

Give me a dream tonight

When I wake up, huhuhu

Only you woo woo

I only look at you, I can't go blind

I don't see anything else rather than you who I came

I will protect you until I die

Tulips, you're beautiful

Tulips, so lovely

Oh my, would you be my flower, oh

Your lips look sweet

Your lips, Im approaching on it

Oh my. Im going to kiss and confess to you today

controversial lgbt q&a - Duration: 6:20.

hi so i guess- uh i guess this is my first like real video? other than my kazoo videos? real video?

um this is going to be an lgb- i feel like i'm doing asmr i hate this- um lgbt um controversial discussion.

i asked my followers on instagram to ask me controversial lgbt topics they want my opinion on.

that's gonna be this video.

so, like 3 people asked this question, they want my opinion on um- this is dumb, like anybody wants my opinion on anything, my opinion on if aces or aros are inherently lgbt

sorry, but honestly, i don't know.

i'm kind of neutral about it. like i can argue [in favor of either side] of the conversation

i'm kind of in the middle or neutral about it, i don't really care but i am kind of more on the like not inherently lgbt side of the opinion? conversation?

this person wants my opinion on "gender is not a spectrum because it's biological and the brain can only identify male and female."

like are they saying like, there are only male and female? ew. "only male and female" that's not true ew.

gender is a spectrum because how else would someone be a demiboy? i'm not a demiboy but that's just an example like, how would demiboys exist if gender wasn't a spectrum like that's kind of dumb. um it is a spectrum.

the same person asked like 3 questions. "any gender other than non binary, female and male are not genders but gender expressions." i asked this person what they meant because i was super confused and they were like um, like polygender, trigender, demigenders.

and i'm just really confused by this question cause i don't know how any of those gender identities could be confused with "gender expression."

like feminine, masculine and androgynous are gender expressions right and you can fit anywhere on there with your gender expression but like,

but if someone's gender is like trigender how would they express that gender wise? kind of just confusing so i don't know what this person is trying to say

"how many genders are there" um who's to say? i don't necessarily agree with infinite but i guess that's technically true i don't really know, obviously it's more than two-

but obviously more than 3 cause like agender is different from being a demiboy like non binary is an unbrella term for any non binary gender so you can't just say there's 3- male, female, non binary, right

so basically just i, who's to say? i don't know how many genders there are.

and then like half of these were like my friend saying "exdee" and then like 2 conpletely not related questions

and my friend saying "are you a big gay" i'm like, that's not controversial. yes, but

my friend did share her opinion on something. ""IF BEING GAY IS A SIN THEN EATING TYPES OF MEAT AND MIXED FOOD IS ALSO A SIN. EVERYONE IS SINNING!""

and i'm like okay like, obviously that's true but like how far behind are you like. i'm basically done at this point just spilling tea about my friend but like.

we been knew. like what are you living in like 2001 like? boy. this is so done with like

it's like people on tumblr just STILL in 2018 posting "BEING GAY ISN'T A SIN!!!" like BOY we been knew like how far behind are you?

like can't you just talk about actual issues that are actually currently.. issues? not like "being gay isn't a sin" like.

like we've already established this

that's all the questions i have because i have no friends of followers!

that's a lie i have a lot of followers i have like over 674 followers but a lot of people saw this and only about 13 people responded or something

and i only have like 5 questions so i'm done. bye sisters

hi i wanna add this uh as an outro i guess- if you have more lgbt controversial topics you want to hear me talk about or hear my opinion on yoh can uh comment down below (and like the video and subscribe and dab on the haters)

Susana e Cátia | EP. 230 | 08 de Outubro - Duration: 6:42.

- Goodmorning

ai

so weird, my desk is - Goodmorning

- My desk is too close to the pillar, this isn't in the right place

- Everything is a bit weird, they're more further apart

- Yes, and the desk of Cátia and Susana

it's the opposite, they're too close

- Right, everything is a bit out of place, how weird

- This one is normal but

do you think anyone touched something here

do you think someone came in here at night?

- What i think it's that the cleaning maids where drunk

- Goodmorning - Goodmorning Susana

- Oh Susana

don't you see

nothing different in the space?

- How?

- Your desks, yours and Cátia's are too close

mine is almost on top of the pole, this is not in the right place

things are moved

- Laura thinks someone came here in the night

and maybe taken something too

- How stupid

- Stupid why?

- Because we have an excellent alarm system installed

and if anything happened like that, i'd know

- And if the thieves could deactivate...

- There were no thieves Marta

- Well

therefore

let's work

- Goodmorning

- Goodmorning Manuel - Goodmorning Laura, goodmorning Marta

goodmorning Susana

- Goodmorning Manuel

- Everything's alright?

- All wonderful

- Go there

- I'll not go

- Laura

- I'll not go

- C'mon

go there talk to her

- I'm not going Marta

i'm not gonna repeat, did you see how she talked to me?

- She was a beast for me too

what do you want? she has the mania that she has the king on her belly

- She has the king on her belly, she's the boss's darling

- Alright but we need to know this, go there

- I'll but i'm not gonna go alone

- I go with you, let's go, but you talk

- What do you want?

- Susana we needed to know if

Cátia is coming to work today

- What do you guys have to do with that?

- We need some data

some data to end a statement

that Manuel asked us to do

- And what data are those?

- Are, are the new safety

procedures for our boats

in order to prevent the situation of the echolocists

from ever happening again

- Ok

- For that we needed to talk with Cátia

- Cátia is sick

it's me who deals with things

go sit down that i'll bring that to you

- And you know when you'll...

- Now

- You called me?

- I wanted to give you congratulations

- Congratulations?

- For the cleaning

coming in this office, i would never have imagined

the confusion that was lived here yesterday

- I burned the plastics

i washed the stains with bleach solution several times

so it couldn't be detected by the luminol

and i made a complete aspiration of the fibers

- See Susana?

it's that obsession of yours for the detail

that makes all the difference

- Thank you

- And the bodies?

you dealt with that?

- Yes

no one is gonna find them

- Great

i don't wanna go on a collision route with João

- And why didn't you take advantage to treat João yesterday?

- I already explaned to you Susana that João is a part of my affections

and my worries

- Cátia was mine too

- Do you really wanna compare a

half-life partnership that i have with João

for an attraction that you feel

for a girl?

what happened Susana? with that cold woman

calculated? able to kill and sacrifice for me?

she didn't disappeared, right?

because of some girl

Susana don't forget

that everything that you're today, you give it to me

that it was me who took you off the street

and if you were still there today, you would be a human stain

in a town that no one cares at all for that people

Susana

your loyalty

and your life continue being mine, right?

- Right

- Are you sure?

- This conversation started with you praising me for the work that i did

it's all that matters

there's no bigger proof of my dedication

- Great

The Philippines Part 2 - Duration: 13:09.

After spending two days in Manila

We wanted to go to Cebu and then Bohol

We are at a domestic airport in Manila

We are watching children's movies

and I write songs on my phone

And everything is just nice

Here is a lot of children

And there are no tourists at all

Which is a little strange

And here met Micha and Jesper

The only Danes we met on our trip

And they have a YouTube channel called:

And it's about all the places they've visited so far

And they were so sweet and shared their experiences with us

Where we could go and what we could see in Bohol

This Jollibee is a total knock off a Mac Donalds

And the menu consists of only 7 dishes

And 4 different soda options

And that i's very strange

But we needed something to eat and drink

Because we are on a full day trip from Manila to Bohol.

We notice that there are slums

everywhere

Wherever we travel

Mixed with big city signs

and big fancy cars

It is a strange mixture of elements

Because there is not a very large middle class

It is primarily rich and poor

A lot people said it was difficult to travel domestic in the Philippines

But if you're just a little bit prepared, you'll find it easy

But

People are right about that it is

primitive to travel domesticly in the Philippines

There is chaos on the ferry

Primarily because some Japanese do not know where they sit

And here is freaking cold

So I've put all my clothes on

Then we have used our bags to shield us from the air con

We have a blanket from Quatar

and fortunately each other

After our ferry trip, we got on Bohol

What we didn't know was that

this place was the most magical and hospitable place

we had ever visited or would get to visit on the rest of our trip

This is a home

where everyone is welcome

And we met so many lovely people here

This place is called Oasis Balili Heritage Lodge

and has a long history

The house is owned by Gloria and Ray

and was built in 1929

And was hijacked by the Japanese during World War 2

But fortunately, it remained in Gloria's family

and

about three months ago is was reopened as a hostel

and

Here are small lizards crawling on the walls

there is street food in front of the house

The fauna around here is amazingly beautiful

cold baths

And the sun is shining - almost every day.

And this is Gloria

She is a Filipino

and she is married to Ray who is an American

And they have been together for a very very long time

And this is Helena (In the middle)

Whom we were so lucky to meet

And later accompanied by when travelling from Cebu to Siquijor

And here on the right you see Marie

I am crazy about animals

And my heart bleeds when I see homeless dogs and cats

Many of them are pregnant

Because it's abnormal to neuter a dog or a cat

Because the locals don't have the money or interest

The locals does give them food once and som love in a while

But its is very few people who own a dog or cat

It's rare to see an animal with a collar on

Many of the locals have an understanding that

of course, the animals must get some food once in between

But unfortunately, many restaurants and food stalls are throwing their remains out

In order not to attract even more cats and dogs

All I did was taking the remains of my food with me and placed it on the streets

It was freaking delicious with a good piece of cake

You have to be very lucky in order to get while being outside of Denmark

The next morning had sundshine and a delicious breakfast in store for us

The day before we had talked to various backpackers at the hostel

and found out where we wanted to go and explore today

Which were the Tairsers, Man Made Forrest and The Chocolate Hills

And it's really nice weather

Wow, really nice whether!

And then we decided to lend a scouter

And then we were off

I feel

ready

It was nice to see the philippines from this angle

because you were not locked in a bus with bad air con

And you should not think about specific departures

You could make a pit stop at any time

If you wanted a closer look on something

Or if you wanted to buy bananas from a local

Or if you just wanted to dip yourself into the ocean

And that was freedom.

dick

We are not there yet

How about the monkeys?

OK

There are a lot of rice fields in the Philippines

And beautiful nature

Look! A cow!

It's just so green and beautiful!

It has its advantages to travel during the rain season

because then everything is fresh and green

Unlike if you are traveling in the high season, where everything is dry

After we drove through Man Made Forrest

Then we visited a Tarsiers' Sanctuary

and that's a cute little mini monkey

They are one of the world's only carnivorous monkeys

Which is pretty funny

Because they are not bigger than a clenched fist

They sleep most of the day

And looks like someone who is on strong sleeping pills

and sometimes it looks like they've got a kick in the ass and for short awhile are very much awake

There is no doubt about

That I am contributing to the fucked up tourist culture

Here in the Philippines

And it's a pity that many of these tourists treat the animals and the staff badly

Unfortunately, I think that some animals need to

to go through this tourist shit, to protect their families living in the wild

So people like me and the Japanese people who I was with

Don't go out into the wild jungle and destroy it in order to see the animals

And therefore it is important for me to say that we must respect

our fellow human beings and our animals.

I just drove the scooter which was pretty fun

And I look super cool!

It just started raining

And right now we are at a bus stop

Because the rain makes us wet very fast

But it also stops quickly so we will drive on in about 1 minute

And what I personally thought was super cool

was that you got a sense the rhythm that surroundings of the these Filipino people

But I think it's important to accept that you can't understand anything

How it is to live like these people

And you cannot understand this in three weeks

But it's a gift to be allowed a look inside

and talk to these people

and be with them

and thereby get a little bit of insight

Our last stop was The Chocolate Hills

and

for a girl like me who comes from a country without any mountains or hills

This is a beautiful view

And that was the best ending

On the first day on sunshine

On our adventure

No Makeup Cosplay Makeup Tutorial | Rey, Marinette, and Poe Dameron | Vlogoween Episode 8 - Duration: 8:39.

hello so this is my makeup tutorial for my cosplays that don't wear makeup so

like Marinette, Poe what other cosplays do I do I don't know just cosplay Rey duh

so this is the makeup I do for those cosplays where you're not really wearing

makeup but also like you want to be wearing makeup because you'll be taking

pictures and stuff like that the only thing difference is I used

brown mascara and for a Marinette i'd use black and then I normally use a red

lip and then wipe it off for what's-her-name Rey but I will show

you how to do both of those things when I do makeup for those characters but

this is just an average getting ready makeup look I also have the sparkly on

my eyelids which you shall see I don't normally do that but I do it when I do

daily makeups like it up don't normally do that for cosplay but I do that for

when I want to look like a human being

so yeah this is just a really really simple makeup tutorial that anyone can

do and I think looks great use the Neutrogena Healthy Skin liquid makeup

I've never used this before last night I put this on my neck and it seemed to

match so we're gonna go with that and that might be way too much so I guess

we're going to just do our whole face in with this

all right and I'm going to do it a second time

and then we're gonna take a dry Beautyblender I'm gonna take this

revolution makeup revolution London luxury baking powder in the shade banana

which is the wrong shade for me but whatever and we're gonna put that in

here and we're gonna tap it on the side of my nose and around the crease of my

nose so like up here and like around right here because I wear glasses and I

really don't want my glasses to wipe off my makeup we're gonna go in with a round

brush and we're gonna take this color which this is from the Anastasia Beverly

Hills palette the powder contour palette so I don't know what the color is call

but it's like I think it's the first one on the top right we're gonna put that

everywhere you put contour apparently contour goes different places for

different people so wherever you're supposed to put your

contour I don't run your life so you're gonna do that and then you're

gonna take this and you're gonna take the very first color in the Anastasia

Beverly Hills powder contour palette and you're going to put

that where you put not contour if that makes sense and just kind of blend out

the edges of the contour but not necessarily getting where you'll put a

highlighting powder not like your highlight but like I'll show you in a

second just give me a little bit

star blends cake makeup in the shade white I'm just gonna do a swirl and tap

that off and I'm gonna do that under my eyes on my brow bone the under brow bone

I didn't tap it that time that's okay and then nose tip of nose

lip chin and then forehead and then tap it again and do forehead again we just

probably way too specific all right whatever so then we're going to do a lip

color Clinique chubby stick moisturizing lip balm in super strawberry and then

yeah so I'm gonna put it oh nevermind haven't done eyes so I'm gonna take one

brush and I'm gonna go into that third from the right or first right top

color and put that in the crease and then on the outside and kind of work it

upward just a little bit and then into the crease I'm gonna do that on both

sides that first color and just do that all over the lid all the way up to the

brow bone and then under eye

all right and then you're gonna put the palette away the lip color away the

brushes away and you're going to keep out the highlights that you're going to

use so the highlighter and the highlight brush and you're also going to keep out

setting spray and mascara so what I do is I have the Urban Decay de-slick makeup

setting spray for oil control so I'm going to spray that and set my face

mascara so and I normally do one swipe of the wand and then my full eyes so

top and bottom lashes

do that again

take the Urban Decay all nighter long-lasting setting spray and I'm

gonna spray once on the highlight brush

then put that on the cheek and then I'm gonna go in again spray it again on the

brush and go in on the other cheek and I'm gonna do a swirl for the nose the

tip of the nose the lip the chin and the forehead and that's all I do

graveyard girl swamp queen palette from Tarte and I will take one of these

brushes and spray the setting spray and lightly put some of that color on the

lid and kind of drag it in towards the eye so it's just kind of on half of the

eye and then in do that and that works really well

and yeah that's my completed makeup look obviously I'll put my glasses on but

I'll put them on later just so I make sure that my makeup dries before I do

that but that was exactly nine minutes and thirty seconds

pretty fast probably would have been faster if I wasn't talking I'll try it and

not talking one time just as a challenge and we'll see how fast I can do it but

yeah um thank you guys for watching if you want to like comment subscribe then

you know how to do that my links are in the description below if you have my

post a notification turned on and you are a real one and I will see you

tomorrow bye

Secretly burrowing in you (There's only one that is for you!) Like the deep darkness, like the deep darkness. (The hidden camouflage~ (Ooh~))

Didn't you know your heart wants me? Hurry to me quickly lalalalala, quickly...

With the color that resembles you. My camouflage gets lighter. (Ooh~)

Quickly give me a lil' touch!

Tag, you're it! It'll be fun, I'll include you here.

(Peek-Peek-A-Peek-A-Boo!)

Till the moon hangs on the jungle gym. Let's play!

(Peek-Peek-A-Peek-A-Boo!)

(Peek-Peek-A-Peek-A-Boo!)

Peek-A-Boo... (Oh..) Peek-A-Boo... (Oh~)

Peek-A-Boo... (Give me a lil' touch!)
