How Jhené Aiko Became A "Maniac" | IRL - Duration: 10:51.
Jhene Aiko: I was very conscious of like, "Well, you should go in this direction more or this direction more"
But for me I feel like I'm just myself and that is many things.
You can't really tell me, "Oh you should stick to this type of sound."
"We want to hear you do more turnt up songs."
I have that here and there, but for the most part I'm just doing me,
so you can't really tell me I should try to do more of this or that.
For the people that know me and know my personality and my whole catalog
they know that it can go anywhere.
I came up with the hook first. Fisticuffs actually started just doing just...
And I just kept saying "hop on that dick like a maniac."
[ laughs ] Oh, yes.
When my friend heard "Maniac", she was like,
"Oh my God! This reminds me of how you were in elementary school."
Second, third grade, we had these nicknames
And so my best friend her nickname was "Freaky Deaky" and my nickname was "Freaky Deaky Junior."
We just were out of control when it came to language and the stuff we would talk about.
My older siblings were always teaching me about stuff that I shouldn't have known about.
And I used to go to school and tell them stuff and do nasty...
I would take smoothies and... I don't even want to go into
Rob: You already started!
Jhene Aiko: ...all the crazy stuff I used to do as a kid. But I knew stuff that I wasn't supposed to know.
Rob: But you know, a song like "Maniac" is sexual, it's super sexual,
and it's a theme that I feel like has been running through your music.
I remember in 2011 on 'Sailing Souls', you had this song called "Hoe,"
and you had this lyric on there that was just so striking and it kind of made me a fan of you very early.
When you say "Don't be scared of my aggression. I just don't want you to get the wrong impression."
I feel like that's key here, it's almost like it's cool for guys to talk about sex in music and nobody bats an eye,
but when women do it and express themselves, it's all type of judgment.
Because you've been in the music business for a very long time. Even before 'Sailing Souls'.
We know you were touring with B2K and there was the major label. Were you this aware back then?
Is this something that developed?
Jhene: You know, I was sort of thrown into it. It wasn't something that I really worked for.
I was just young and it was a relationship type of thing. My mom knew this person and we did this
and it was just like, "Yeah I love to sing. Yeah, I'll sign a contract."
Rob: But when as an artist did you find kind of that freedom
and being able to block out what everybody says and be like "You know what? This is who I am."
Jhene: I feel like I've had periods where I felt it more than others.
Like, when I did my mixtape.
My daughter was like 1 or 2 and I wasn't signed or anything so I had the freedom to take my time.
In the EP and the album, I was more concerned about what people expect of me
or what people want from me and blah blah blah.
I would say where I found true confidence and freedom and just total 'I'm gonna do me', was this year, really.
I'm just aware of you know, opinions. If I'm pleased with it, then that's all that matters.
This looks like definitely something that I would wear.
Rob: It's a throughline behind your entire discography. Everybody has sex
Almost everybody. I know a couple people in the comments,
I don't know if they're actually living their life like that.
But it's a natural part of life and we've been singing about it since the beginning of time.
Jhene: My whole thing is there's a few sides of me,
but I would say that things that tend to come out a lot are when I'm sad or angry.
And then there is the sexual part which, as a Pisces woman, we are... They say that it's Scorpio…
Rob: That's what I heard.
Jhene: Ehhhh. I would say it's the Pisces. Because we're very... I don't know. Just go find you a Pisces.
Oh it's getting a little naughty.
Woah.
Rob: Are these toys something you get into?
Jhene: I've tried before. Like I said, maybe I'm not there yet in my adulthood.
Because I'm just like, well, I just want the real thing.
You know, you see a lot of like, younger artists talking about sex and stuff like that, but it's like "You are 23!"
I just feel so grown right now. I'll be like "You don't even know. You don't have as many years I've had."
Rob: You know songs like "Vapors", the opening track.
I remember listening to it for the first time and when the hook came like, "Can I hit it again?"
And "Bed Peace" even "Bed Peace" was just like, and with the video..
I was afraid of you in "The Worst" video. You were in the lingerie.
You had just killed your man. And you were eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and drinking red wine.
Jhene: It ended up being so many songs that I split into the EP and the album.
I wanted to explore every type of sound that I've ever liked.
Me and Fisticuffs, who we work closely together all the time,
we would literally just get in the studio and they'd start a little part of the beat
and I would just start singing and then we would be high and we all just say something and be like, "That's tight!"
and we would just keep going and going.
Rob: I think when you talk about that raw emotion and almost a folk vibe with "Comfort Inn".
What was that session like? It sounded like it was freeing or something.
Jhene: The only thing I wrote down was the names.
Rob: Dominic, Brandon...
Jhene: It was basically a freestyle.
What's funny is I had a whole bunch of names and I had a category like "These guys fucked up.
These guys don't deserve to be in a song. I don't even want to give them any shine."
Back then I was always going through crazy relationship shit.
Rob: Look at 'em now. Where they at?
Jhene: I have no idea.
Rob: You started off the year with a bang. 2016 you and Big Sean dropped 'Twenty88'
and it was the story of relationships and sex and love and we got this mini-movie with it.
Talk about going into that project, because that such a creative turn.
Jhene: Me and Sean have been friends for a while. So when he came to me with the idea,
I was just like "Yeah that sounds fun.
This sounds like I can explore different sounds and different topics
that maybe I haven't really gotten to dive into."
Like, the real sexy songs like "2 Minute Warning".
I haven't written with a lot of people. I haven't co-written with a lot of people,
so it meant something to me that we actually were compatible in that way,
to where we could feed off of each other and go back-and-forth.
Bondage tape!! You know, "Maniac" I got to experience the rope, which is a Japanese bondage art form,
it's not super harsh, like regular rope. We had an actual artist, he did it on me.
While he was doing it I'm like oh, like I can see how people get pleasure out of this.
Rob: When you started writing this song, "Maniac", what happened that day?
What was going on that day, that you went into the studio?
Jhene: I played it for Detail, him and me sat down and wrote two verses,
and I played it for Sean, it was some stuff that he wanted me to say that I was like,
"No I'm not gonna say that, I'm gonna say this."
Rob: What was Sean's reaction? Like I can just imagine a "Woah there."
Jhene: No he loved it. He loved it.
Rob: Was there one specific lyric that he contributed?
Jhene: Dick long as a ruler.
Cause he knows that, that's how I like them.
Rob: Shout out to Sean, man.
Jhene: Yeah, I don't wanna see my man in that.
I have to try a pair of these. Easy access.
Rob: It just feels like you're gearing up for something big. What are we foreshadowing with "Maniac"?
Jhene: I like to really take my time and put the pieces together.
Like, create the pieces and put the pieces together to have this big picture.
And, I would say in 2017 you'll see the big picture.
One song, like "Maniac", it took so long for me to feel like, "OK. It's fine. We can share it now."
And that's how I am with every single song. So you can imagine one project for me is like...
It's gonna just take all of my effort and energy and that's how I like it.

Easy Skillet KIMCHI and EGG Breakfast ~ Healthy Spicy Breakfast Recipe - Duration: 3:18.
If you like kimchi as much as I do, you
are going to enjoy this easy and healthy
kimchi and egg skillet breakfast.
Good morning, I'm Tess and welcome to my kitchen.
You only need a handful of ingredients
for this kimchi and egg skillet breafast.
I'm using a garden onion, some
leftover bean sprouts, kimchi that is in
bite-sized pieces and I added a couple
tablespoons of the kimchi liquid, a
couple of eggs, some good extra virgin
olive oil and a little minced garlic.
Kimchi is a Korean spicy fermented side
dish made from napa cabbage, radish, green
onions, garlic, ginger and other veggies.
You can make your own kimchi or you can
use your favorite brand.
I'm only making one serving this morning
and using my small cast iron pan but you
can adjust the recipe and use any size skillet.
Just a reminder that you can find more
information in the show me more section
below including this recipe and the list
of ingredients.
In my skillet on medium heat I'm adding
a little olive oil and the chopped whites
of my garden onion. Stirring and cooking
for about one minute. I'm adding just a
little minced garlic. You can also add
salt and pepper to taste.
Stirring and cooking for about 30 seconds.
In goes the kimchi and just
leveling out. Bringing this to a simmer
and letting it cook for about a minute
just to heat through and get everything
mixed.
Now I'm adding the fresh bean sprouts
and these are optional.
You could also add some leftover
julienned carrots, snow peas or whatever
you like. I happen to like the crunch of
the bean sprouts. Mixing well and cooking
for another minute. Now I'm making a
small well in the middle of the kimchi.
I'm adding a little of the chopped green
onion and then the eggs. I'm turning my
heat down to low, adding a few more green
onions, covering, and letting it cook for
about three to four minutes. The cooking
time depends on how you like your eggs
cooked.
It's been three minutes and for me the
eggs are done. Adding the rest of the
chopped green onions and a little more
the bean sprouts.
You could also add some sesame seeds or
a little drizzle of sesame oil on top.
What is really nice is that you can have
this kimchi and egg skillet breakfast
ready in 10 minutes.
It is easy, healthy and yummy! A spicy way
to start your day! I hope you enjoy.

2009-2014 F-150 Iron Cross HD Series Rear Bumper Review & Install - Duration: 3:50.
Hey, what's going on, guys?
Adam here with americanmuscle.com.
Today I'm bringing you a detailed overview of the Iron Cross HD Series Rear Bumper, fitting
all '09 to '14 F-150s.
So, in this video, I'm gonna talk about everything you can expect as far as quality-wise and
the functionality and style of this rear bumper from Iron Cross.
And I'll even walk you through the overview of the installation which, by the way, will
get a two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter.
It's definitely something anybody can do at home, but it will require a little more know-how
and might even require a little bit of help because this thing is really heavy, but let's
jump right into it.
So the Iron Cross HD Series Rear Bumper is gonna be for the '09 to '14 owner out there
looking to switch out from the factory wimpy bumper to a more hefty, overall one of the
most protective rear bumpers on the market, thanks to Iron Cross.
It comes with a lot of nice features, including hefty D-rings that can help with recovery
points and a lot more.
Now, with this bumper, as you can see, it's pretty hefty, so it's also gonna look really
awesome on the back of your truck, which definitely doesn't hurt.
So to jump right into the main portion of the information, you can expect the construction
to be made out of a heavy-duty gauge steel, CNC laser cut, double-hand welded inside and
out.
It's really up to strengthened durability, great for the guys doing some on and off-roading
and may come in contact with some trail hazards.
Now, with that in mind, this is completed in a textured black powder coated finish to
give it some aggressive good looks and corrosion resistance for long-term use.
Now to touch on the functionality I mentioned in the beginning of the video, this bumper
from Iron Cross is HD or heavy-duty series, offers and incorporates two D-ring mounts
and D-rings included in the kit, great for you guys taking your rig off-roading and may
need a recovery point for when you get stuck in a mud pit or for the guys looking to pull
some stumps down in the backyard.
Either way, extremely useful.
And, at this point, with everything said and done, I do wanna mention Iron Cross offers
a limited lifetime warranty, great to cover everything and give you some peace of mind.
Now, at this point, before I go any further, I do wanna point out one nitpick I do have
in an otherwise flawless product from Iron Cross.
Now this bumper does not come with pre-drilled holes to accommodate for backup censors in
the '09 to '14 F-150s.
So if your rig does come with that feature equipped, you might have to drill some holes
yourself just to accommodate for that, which isn't too bad of a job, but it does require
the right tools and the right know-how and it does add an extra step to the installation
process.
Now you'll also notice Iron Cross had their brand logo, CNC, laser cut directly into the
materials on both sides which, in some people's opinions, might not look so great.
But, in my personal opinion, I think it really adds to the aggressive good looks, but really
it all comes down to personal preference.
Now price-wise for this particular bumper option from Iron Cross, you can expect to
be spending anywhere between 800 and 900 bucks, which is a little bit pricey, but you do wanna
take into consideration this is one of the most if not the most protective bumper on
the market for your F-150.
So there's really a lot of bang for your buck here with the quality materials and the added
features.
So you wanna take that into consideration when you're shopping around.
Now the installation, like I said, is gonna be a little bit more difficult as it is a
little more involved.
You will have to move a few things over from your factory bumper to make this one from
Iron Cross work with your setup.
Now, with that in mind, you are gonna get a two out of three wrenches on the difficulty
meter for this one.
It will require a little bit more know-how but it's definitely not impossible to get
done in your driveway at home.
So one of the things you're gonna have to transfer over from your factory bumper to
the Iron Cross is your trailer harness hookup in addition to getting the license plate lights
all wired in because these do come with completely new bulbs replacing your factory ones.
And you'll see the wiring back here.
You're gonna have to do some spikes in to get these in there.
Definitely not a hard job at all.
It should take you only a few minutes.
Now, in addition to that, if you do have the backup sensors in your F-150, you might have
to do some drilling, if you want to keep that option, but that is completely up to you.
And if it's not applicable, that's just one last thing you have to worry about.
So just to quickly wrap things up, guys, if you're the owner of an '09 to '14 F-150 and
you're looking for a way to get rid of your factory weak bumper and replace it with one
of the most protective rear bumpers on the market, with a couple extra added features,

So good morning and very warm welcome to
all of you have traveled literally from
the farthest corners of the globe to be
with us today as one of the
co-organizers of the digital city summit
and associate chair of the department of
civil and environmental engineering is
my distinct pleasure to introduce
Stanford's dean of engineering Dr.
Persis Drell to welcome all of you and
to make a few stage setting comments
just a quick comment in the interest of
maximizing time for our presentations
discussions and questions by this
amazing group of participants who has
been assembled for the summit we're
going to keep introductions of panelists
moderators keynotes because very brief
your brochure has bios for all of them
and we'll have addenda for the ones who
joined us very late and so but i do need
to make a few brief comments about our
distinguished dean of engineering prior
to becoming Dean about a year ago Dr.
Drell headed up Stanford Linear
Accelerator Center (SLAC) which is a
Department of Energy Laboratory that
Stanford manages for the department and
in this role she established a stellar
reputation for both fostering
collaborative science between SLAC and
multiple disciplines at Stanford and
around the world and for building an
institutional support structure that
enabled and supercharged this kind of
collaboration and so similarly to the
pulses of high-energy that SLAC creates
to explore subatomic particles deemed
relevant to injected this kind of high
energy into the school during her first
year as our new Dean.
it's my great pleasure to introduce Dean
Persis Drell to ask you to help me
welcome her to launch this digital city
summit
thank you that was a unique introduction
and I'm very very pleased to be here to
welcome you to this first digital cities
summit so when I first became dean of
engineering um I'm a physicist by
training so I had to learn what
engineering was about and as a school we
engaged in a conversation asking where
did Stanford School of Engineering want
to be in 20 years
what we aspire to be doing and then how
how would we get there and it was a
terrific process we actually put our
young faculty in charge because we feel
they see the future better than perhaps
some of the rest of us and they
identified ten challenges where they
thought Stanford School of Engineering
should aspire to make an impact and one
of them was how can engineering ensure
that humanity flourishes in the cities
of the future very appropriate for this
gathering so as all of you know more
than half of humanity already lives in
cities the rapid global organization
trend is continuing if anything it's
accelerating especially in developing
countries city governments are being
challenged
Oh stretched perhaps even in some cases
overwhelmed by mass migration which is
challenging the infrastructure systems
housing water supply waste-treatment
power telecommunications so this
conference is orchestrated organized to
focus on two trends that will help
governments and private companies better
address these unmet needs and hopefully
make infrastructure services even more
robust and accelerate and accessible so
the two trends that the that the
conference is going to focus on our
technologies for decentralized treatment
of waste purification of water and
production of power and then the
exponentially decreasing cost of sensors
wireless communication and computer
processing
our and the opportunity that presents
the organizers of this conference hope
that the confluence of these trends will
open up a host of new business models
for both governments and private firms
to adopt but they also recognize and are
quite sensitive to the the fact that
these attempts to collect and use big
data around the consumption of city
services raises unprecedented challenges
of governance privacy cybersecurity and
those are going to need to be deeply
studied and very rigorously address now
focusing on how cities can better use
big data to advance sustainability of
the next generation infrastructure
service provision is a natural new
research and education direction for us
at Stanford so i want to emphasize how
much we appreciate the opportunity to
participate in this summit and we really
look forward to learning from it we are
looking to this to help guide our future
programs in this area and we will be
listening with great interest this
summit has been organized by the
Stanford global project centre Stanford
media x enter park which is xerox
company and imperial college of the
participants you all our senior leaders
from government industry and
universities who are advancing the
theory and the practice of digitization
of city services across the world
um we're delighted to host this event
here in our new long engineering center
we hope it is informative and enjoyable

ChiroTrust - Is Your Personal Life This Good? It Could Be! - Duration: 4:42.
Normally at this time of the year, I am gearing up to compete in golf, you know.
I have some qualifier tournaments that I play in, for the Texas A&M or the Texas Amateur.
And I would take off on Tuesdays and go and play on those.
Or I'll take off on a Thursday and go play on those.
And if I didn't have an associate, you know, going back to ChiroTrust, if Ben didn't have
the whole mechanism in place I wouldn't be able to do those things.
I have a trimester ten student who is doing a preceptor next week, and I asked him...
He's graduating in two weeks, and I asked him, where is he going after he graduates.
And he had no idea.
And he has plus 200,000 thousand dollars of student load debt.
We have done such a good job on chiropractic that the chiropractic students coming out
have no idea where their going.
I see that over and over again.
Because I'm three miles from a college.
I have all these interns coming in, and it's the same thing.
They don't know what their going to do.
They're scared.
If every Chiropractor practiced the way that ChiroTrust says to practice, then we wouldn't
have a problem.
And if more Chiropractors were a part of ChiroTrust, and we delivered services that the market
wants, then I think we could fix that problem.
Chiropractic would actually elevate in the public eye, and Chiropractic would be a better
solution for more people.
Because what do we see?
Like 10% of the population?
Because nobody wants to go to the chiropractor because they think they have to go forever.
"Oh, I don't want to go and start doing that.
I gotta go forever"...
You know?
But how did that perception start?
It started because a lot of chiropractors recommended, "Oh no, you gotta, you know.
You need to come here once a month.
You need to come in for wellness."
Like, what is "wellness."
Like.
I mean.
Is wellness getting your back popped once a month?
I don't think it is.
Because ChiroTrust and the stability that it brings, I don't have to work, you know,
on Fridays.
I don't have to work on Tuesday afternoons.
And actually starting this next Tuesday I'm not working Tuesday mornings.
I think that without the ChiroTrust systems and without the emails, without the marketing,
without the message, that Ben imparts on us, you know.
I wouldn't be in the position to take off Tuesdays and Fridays and, you know, have the
practice stability that I currently have.
And actually, this Pearland Regional Airport, I've done most of my training out of this
airport.
I flew all the way to San Francisco in that plane.
You know, I've been involved with Ben, as I said, since about 2004 or 5, which is now
pretty good length of time.
The entire premise of ChiroTrust is based on ethics.
It's based on delivering value to people and only giving people what they want.
I mean it's, there's no contracts involved and he's not forcing into anything.
It's as ethical as anything can be.
It's almost as like people don't even know what they're missing until they delve in and
they start experiencing everything that ChiroTrust has to offer when it gives him the opportunity
to sign on without having to pay for a little bit.
It's like, hey look, you don't know what you're missing.
So here it is.
And the people who take it and run with it do fantastic.
There's no way that I could achieve all of the different components of what ChiroTrust
does from a marketing standpoint on my own.
So we live here pretty much because of Ben.
I've been a Chiropractor for, since 1996 and we moved here in 2006.
And between 1996 and 2006, there would've been no way to live in a place like this.
This is one of the nicest courses, golf courses and I'm into golf, on the south side of Houston.
About 15 years ago, I took up woodworking as a hobby.
I like the legacy part of woodworking.
I want to be able to create things that I can hand down to my family that they can just
kinda keep.
And I'm talking about high quality pieces, you know, made of, there's no plywood in my
projects.
I want my family to be able to hold on to these pieces through generations.
That's actually why I woodwork.
ChiroTrust is a system that involves your thought processes as a practitioner.
It involves your recommendations, how you recommend your services to a patient.
It involves all the marketing and all the materials that go out to those patients.
And it's all done for you.
And it would be impossible to create this system and to be able to communicate to patients
