REAL ENGLISH VOCABULARY: 10 words to talk about MONEY & PRICES - Duration: 7:54.

Hello, there, and welcome back to engVid. In today's lesson we are going to have ten

words that come from the world of banking and business, but have an everyday function;

that have a function if you are a holidaymaker and are looking at exchanging money, for example,

or just going to another place and using money. Let's face it - we've all got to use it.

So, first word today: "rate". There's a couple of different meanings of this word. It can

mean the cost of something; or used as a verb: "What do you think of something?" Let's have

some practical examples. "What is your rate for...?" Or: "Give me your best rate." What

we're... We're thinking here is... Is sort of price; cost. "What is your best rate? I

want your best rate." Particularly if you go to a country where haggling is more of

a norm, then you're going to be trying to negotiate. Here in the UK things tend to be...

there tends to be a set price for certainly things in a shop. "How would you rate...?"

So: "How would you rate the service provided? What do you think of it?"

Moving on to our second word: "commission". Okay? This word, if we're thinking of a slice...

You know, a whole pizza, and there is a middle man... So, for example, I'm booking a hotel

in India and I have someone there who is doing the booking for me, then he's going to take

a small slice of the pizza and eat it for himself, and the rest of the pizza will go

to the hotel. Metaphor; obviously we're talking about money. A practical example of "commission":

"We charge 0% commission." Let's put this into another context. Let's say I'm going

to Spain and I want some euros so that I can have some money there, I go along to the sort

of money exchange, and they say: "We charge 0% commission." That's great. Just be warned

that their rates may be not so friendly; they're going to make their money from the rate, not

the commission.

Next word: "charge". Now, this can be both a noun and a verb. "Are there any extra charges?"

Okay? Say I'm paying for a hotel in Spain: "Are there any extra charges?" Taxes, for

example. Used as a verb: "What do you charge? What do you charge?" Or: "My charge is..."

Okay? If you're saying what you'd like to be paid for a day's work, for example.

"Fee". This is a noun. Again, it relates to payment. "My fee is..." Or: "The fee for this

is..." Or: "We do charge a fee of..." Okay? Saying we're still at the money exchange:

"We do charge a fee of..."

All right. "Cost" and "price", this, relating to amount of money. "So the overall cost for

changing 100 pounds into euros is..." Or... "So the overall cost for 100 euros is 80 pounds."

Okay? "Cost".

Next words: "transfer". So, a word that may pop up in your science textbook; it's really

relating to this idea of change, and it can be used both as a noun and as a verb. We're

going off on this holiday to Spain. "I just received a transfer from my friend." That

means they changed money from their account into my account. Well, hey, off to the beach.

Pina colada for me. Or: "I made my transfer..." Let's say, for example, that I was flying

from London to Paris; from Paris to Barcelona - I don't know why I would because you could

fly straight, but let's just pretend: "transfer" is getting the changing flight. So, it's making

sure that when you're in Paris, you get onto that change; that next flight - the change

of flight.

So, there I am in Spain. Now there's been a new development - a plot development because

I have just had a "cut" in my salary. Now, "cut" means something taken off. So I now

have less money that I am being paid each month. Because of this, I am going to need

to make a "cutback". "Cutback" is a noun; means a reduction. I'm going to need to make

some cutbacks in my spending. Now, you can also use this as a phrasal verb. For example:

"I will need to cut back..." Now, there should actually be a space here. As the noun, one

word; but if you're going to use it as the phrasal verb, then you want to just separate

it. So: "I will need to cut back on my spending."

"Coupon", next word. "Coupon" is a discount voucher. Well, this could help here. So, this

helps you pay less in places like amusement parks, for example, or a cinema. "I will use

the coupon to gain entry to the park."

And lastly, we have: "cashback". So, some credit cards, you'll make a payment, and after

the payment you may get a cashback; so they may give you some money in return. Or, say

I go shopping and I don't have any... Any notes, I could say: "Do you offer any cashback

facilities? Do you offer any cashback facilities?" and I... They would say: "Yes", perhaps. And

I would say: "Fantastic. Could I have 40 pounds cashback?" and then they put that onto my

cost of what I've been shopping... Of my shopping. Okay? So, "cashback" is when we get money

in return. Sometimes it's a gift from a credit card, and sometimes it's something that you

pay for.

Ten new words. Have you got them? I think it's time that you tested yourself and did

today's quiz. "Rate"; "commission"; "charge"; "fee"; "cost" and "price"; we've got "transfer",

remember that idea of change; "cut" - taking something off; "cutback" - reducing; "coupon"

is that little printed leaflet that you take along to say: "I'm paying less"; and "cashback"

- when you get that little bit of money back after buying something. Thank you so much

for watching today. Stay tuned. See you next time.

The Price of Playing Youth Sports | Real Sports w/ Bryant Gumbel | HBO - Duration: 1:30.

JON FRANKEL: If you're a kid,

heck if you're an adult and you walk in here,

you'd think you've died and gone to sports heaven.

This is fantasy land for athletes.

FRANKEL: The Bo Dome, as it's known here in Hilliard, Ohio,

is part of a booming business.

(METAL BAT CLINKS)

According to one estimate, spending on youth sports

this year, will top 17 billion dollars.

Some of these kids might spend 150, even 175 dollars an hour,

to be with a collegiate-level coach.

They're spending 175 dollars an hour?

If they wanna be prepared for college,

many of these consumers believe they need it.

-This, with GB, here we go. -(WHISTLE BLOWS)

FRANKEL: But, there's a problem.

The price of playing sports has gotten so high,

that millions of kids are being left behind.

An alarming eight percent have dropped out

in the last decade alone.

This is an uncomfortable issue.

For us, as a public school district

to say, we have kids who can't compete because of...

their socioeconomics.

And yeah, the opportunity is there,

because they can try out,

but because they don't have the skills,

it's not really there, it's a false sense of opportunity.

OnePlus 6T Review - Duration: 6:17.

Hey there, Alex here.

This is the OnePlus 6T.

The replacement for the OnePlus 6 which I reviewed just 5 months ago.

On the outside, it might look very similar to the OnePlus 6 with its metal and glass

design, but there are subtle differences around the phone.

So let's take a closer look.

The first thing you'll notice is of course this gorgeous new display.

It now has a much sleeker looking notch, and slightly thinner chin.

It's a minor upgrade, but I really like the way it looks.

The resolution is still FHD+, but the colours looks really nice, and outdoor visibility

is decent.

Technically it might not be as impressive looking at other top tier devices, but I think

it looks more than good enough.

I really wished that OnePlus could find a way to implement dual speakers to further

improve the multimedia experience, but anyway, the bottom speaker sounds decent enough, and

gets pretty loud.

The phone also has another trick up its sleeve, and that's the optical fingerprint sensor

hidden underneath the screen.

This is why you don't see a fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone.

Unlike the capacitive sensors that we're used to, an optical fingerprint sensor uses

the light from the display, and a tiny camera underneath the screen to scan your fingerprint.

While this is all very interesting, the main thing to note is that it's not as fast as

the capacitive sensors we're used to.

And because the screen has to be bright enough for the camera to read your fingerprint, it

can be a little annoying when using it in the dark.

But I do prefer having the fingerprint sensor at the front of the phone, and it's still

reliable enough once I got used to how it works.

So overall, I would still consider this a minor upgrade.

Anyway, I find myself using face unlock most of the time because it's just more convenient,

and I only use the fingerprint sensor when I absolutely need to.

It's a minor difference, but the OnePlus 6T is a little heavier, a little thicker,

and a little taller.

If you pay closer attention, you'll find that the phone is missing a headphone jack as well.

The main reason for these changes is probably to accommodate that fingerprint sensor, as

well as a much larger 3,700mAh battery.

This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I would rather have a bigger battery than

a headphone jack.

Anyway, OnePlus did include a dongle or you could always buy a higher quality third party option.

I'm more of a casual listener, so I'm plenty happy with my wireless earbuds.

In terms of specs, we're getting mostly the same hardware as the OnePlus 6.

Same processor, same camera hardware, and the same generous amount of RAM and storage.

It is still the fastest Android phone I've used to date, just with better battery life

this time round.

Most of the time, I'm ending the day with around 35% battery with my regular usage,

which is really good.

Dash Charging is still extremely quick and the battery life is so good, that I don't

even care that there isn't wireless charging.

We're also getting pretty much the same software experience as the OnePlus 6.

OxygenOS is still one of my favourite Android experiences, right alongside Google's own

software on their Pixel devices.

I've grown very fond of just how fast the software feels, how customisable it is, and

the amount of smart features it comes with.

I like the way the gesture navigation works, how I can lock apps with sensitive information,

and a whole bunch of other smaller useful features.

It's just a really well-thought out and well-designed software experience.

It's so good, that I don't even mind the slower updates compared to Google's own

Pixel devices.

The camera experience is more or less the same as the OnePlus 6.

It is still remarkably good at picking the right exposure, doing a good job with white

balance, and producing pleasing looking shots consistently.

In this aspect, I actually prefer it over phones that sometimes go over the top with

their AI scene detection image processing.

There is a new night mode for better low light shots, but at this point, I think it needs

more work.

While it is able to brighten up the scene, it's also noticeably less sharp, and less detailed.

It is also quite situational, and sometimes can make the shot look even worse.

I think that this is something that they could improve with software updates for sure, but

for now, I wouldn't get too excited about it.

I have more camera samples from the OnePlus 6T in the link below, you can check it out

if you want to.

But basically, it is a good enough camera experience, just not quite as good as other

top tier devices.

What we're getting with the OnePlus 6T, is mostly the same with the OnePlus 6, just

with a few minor improvements.

Which is what you would expect from an incremental update just months after its predecessor.

It's not meant to rock the boat and upset existing OnePlus 6 users.

It's just a slightly better and newer option for anyone looking to buy a new phone today.

The starting price is a little higher, but we are getting double the storage for the base model,

as well as other minor improvements that I've mentioned.

So just like the OnePlus 6, the 6T is an excellent choice for anyone not looking to spend too

much money, but still want a great smartphone experience.

The OnePlus 6T might not have the bells and whistles that we find on other flagship devices,

but it absolutely nails the core smartphone experience.

The performance is top-notch, OxygenOS is a joy to use, and it does everything else

well enough.

It has its own shortcomings, but those are worthy trade-offs when you consider its lower

price tag, especially when other flagship phones are getting increasingly more expensive.

If you're in Singapore, I would advise waiting for promotions and discounts before getting

the phone just because of how the market here is.

But apart from that, this is a phone that I have no problem recommending to

most folks out there.

Thanks for watching my review of the OnePlus 6T.

If you've enjoyed it, be sure to leave a like, and subscribe to the channel for more

content in the future.

Thanks again, and see you guys on the next one.

Nerf Review: Nerf N Strike Elite Infinus NEW Unboxing Nerf Nation - Duration: 6:02.

Nerf Review: Nerf N Strike Elite Infinus NEW Unboxing Nerf Nation

Hi everyone, welcome back and day we have this nice plaster the infamous

Blaster suck-up. Let's get right through it

Something I really like about this bastard. Is that like this rip like right here. It's so cool

it's like easy just put your hand on unlike most blasters and then you can see you could use it as like a

Bipod or something right here. It's just like it's so cool

For this blaster it will take four D batteries

for for this blaster to work to shoot

Another cool feature about this blaster is a drum right here as you see you can't see where the dirts are gonna pee

But when you turn around it's nice and clear

This drum can hold up to 30 darts. That's a lot of darts

So all these starts can fit in

And the cool feature is that it auto fires, so when you move this down you can just hold on to the

trigger and then just keep

blastin

So if you're in battle you don't know what to do you run out of darts and then it's like oh I gotta take them

Flip out and then just reload it. It takes so much energy like now you can

You can just put it in here

Now already

And

Another piece right here is that there's a light right here

The ones like this it means it is not loaded has no darts in here

But when we start putting it the darts in here, it will turn green

and

It's the plaster the light blaster is this color but it's blinking that means the blaster is jammed

Now let's get loaded

first start

And see you now it is green

Just put it in there it does it's magic

Whoo

Right in here see so update there is showing go it that

Nice pull-up put this back in here

Keep going

And now I let you see the way is off because I took this out right here so

The blaster will tell you if it's not going to

blast because of this red light right here when the red light is there that means this is open so

See doesn't turn on

That's cool feature iPod

and

Now it's green

Let's get loaded

And

We're good

and

Now that we filled it all the way up. This light has turned from green to like bright orange

Now it's time for target practice

Let's knock these things down

That's all

Over all this black stuff looks so cool. It's easy to like it's so easy to blast you hold the trigger down

It's so fun

It's got this is amazing. You gotta move it from here. It's also

Cool. I really recommend getting this. It's so cool. I don't see you guys in the next one. Bye

How To Learn English Grammar The NATIVE Way - Just VS Only - Duration: 4:24.

Hi there!

I'm Drew Badger, the world's #1 English Fluency Guide!

In this video, I'll share a lesson my personal students really enjoyed that will help you

better understand JUST and ONLY.

But please know that this video will focus on a SPECIFIC situation, because this is how

NATIVES learn English.

Try to learn ALL of the uses of any vocabulary word in one video and you'll only forget

them…

But if you focus on a SPECIFIC SITUATION, you'll remember what you learn so you always

say the right thing at the right time.

Does that make sense?

Well, my wife and I have always had lots of conversations about language learning.

I'm from the US, and she's from Japan.

But we have even more discussions about words now that Aria, our three-year-old daughter,

is really speaking a lot.

Recently, when my wife, Aria, my wife's parents and I were having dinner, Aria asked me what

I was drinking.

When I told her, "Just water," a discussion began about translating that sentence into

Japanese.

My wife's mother - who also knows quite a bit of English - asked if "only" could replace

"just" in this case.

I explained that she could, but that the meaning COULD be slightly different.

"Just" and "only" CAN sometimes have the same meaning, which is why she asked.

An example of when they mean the same thing is when you want so say you have a small or

limited amount of something:

"I JUST have 10 minutes to do my work."

"I ONLY have 10 minutes to do my work."

But when I told Aria I was "just" having water, this meant that the drink was NOTHING SPECIAL.

I wasn't drinking something more interesting like juice, wine or whatever.

I was "just" having water.

Now, you CAN use "only" in this situation, but "just" is much more common because the

meaning is MORE CLEAR.

Imagine if you go to a friend's house and they ask you if you'd like something to drink.

You could reply by saying "(Just) water is fine."

And you'd mean that YOU DON'T NEED ANYTHING SPECIAL OR FANCY because you don't want them

to go through any trouble for you.

You're answering their polite offering with a polite response.

"Only water..." in this situation COULD have the same meaning, but it could ALSO mean that

you can't or won't drink anything other than water.

See way natives prefer "just" in this situation?

So, if you're at a restaurant and your server asks you if you'd like anything to drink with

your order, but you don't want anything special or interesting, you'd say:

"Just water, please."

Now, you try it!

May I bring you any beer or wine?

Just water, thanks!

Would you like some juice or a cocktail with dinner?

Just water, please!

You're now a bit more fluent because you learned some spoken English the same way natives

do.

Feels pretty good, right?

To finally reach fluency, all you have to do is REPEAT this process with more situations

until you "FEEL" what's correct automatically.

And this can happen much faster than most learners believe, even if you've struggled

to get fluent for years!

If you'd like to learn more about how to think like a native so you speak like one,

REAL ENGLISH VOCABULARY: 10 words to talk about MONEY & PRICES - Duration: 7:54.

Hello, there, and welcome back to engVid. In today's lesson we are going to have ten

words that come from the world of banking and business, but have an everyday function;

that have a function if you are a holidaymaker and are looking at exchanging money, for example,

or just going to another place and using money.
