Good Instruction Is The Key - Duration: 10:00.

My name is Tre Riggins.

I'm from Atlanta, Georgia, but I currently live in the market that I'm doing is in

South Carolina, in Charleston.

And I guess I'm now a little bit, I'm about half way through the six-month, and

it's, it's been, it's been very, very useful, informative.

I'm currently teaching, right now, so I'm not doing it full time.

And it, I'm, I'm putting in the time to make the calls and what not, so it's not

like I'm not getting on the phone call, on the phone calls.

But it is difficult to put all of the pieces together given my schedule.

So it's, it's, we've gotten some memos back.

But nothing has closed yet.

I heard about Joe basically through Ozim and I'm not actually sure how I, how I first

heard about him but I bought some things from him, some of the, the courses and I was in

one of this programs and he talked, he talked about them a lot, how he got his start and,

I kind of wanted to get some information from, I guess, with the source.

So, that's how I found him.

So, I started in Boston, and there was a real estate group there who had AREA, it was really

into apartment complexes and rehabbing and so that's kind of the formula that I started

with.

Buying and selling rehab properties and hopefully flipping that into larger properties.

And I did that for a few years and, you know, we were able to do it.

But it's, it was a lot like having an adult daycare center, and the contractors would

say they would do something and they wouldn't, and just the whole rigmarole of following

up with that, it didn't, again, really fit with my personality.

I didn't enjoy that.

So, I got some information about wholesaling from a different person and it sort of handled

some of the issues of the logistics of it and it freed up a little bit of time.

It was still a little difficult for me to actually make it consistent.

It's like, each one of those had a little step of efficiency from rehabs to wholesaling

to the For Rent Method.

Each one had a little improvement on the last thing that made it a little easier to do.

There was, there were times where, there were gaps in information, I guess.

Joe is very, very thorough.

Sometimes you feel like you're drinking from a water hose because there's so much

information.

But the fact that there is that information and there are so many pieces that are there

for you to refer to it's defin- it, for me, too much information is a lot better than

not enough.

So, that's definitely an aspect that you see in his program.

I still had the issues of not necessarily things being consistent.

You know, I was able to get buyers, or, in one market.

I was able to get sellers in another market.

But it was too rare that I was able to get both sides of the transaction in one market

at the same time.

And so, you know, especially with the automation that Joe provides.

It seems that it's a lot easier to make those things happen.

The automation does make it more consistent.

There's just more information in general that kind of eliminates some of the gaps in

other training.

It's a lot more, not necessarily formulaic, but it seems to be laid out in a very concise

and methodical way.

Whereas, you know, other "gurus" they might have good information but it might be

sporadic and it might, you know, might be out of order, out of sequence and it's kind

of hard to piece all of it together and particularly with the Mentor Program, he's very responsive.

You know, if you have a question, then he, I love the way that he actually, he goes through

your email on his screen and gives you screencast as he's talking to you, make sure that he

addresses all of the issues that you have.

So it's kind of hard for things to fall through the cracks.

Well, one thing that I've already incorporated is his idea of getting a promissory note.

And that's already, some of the things that are in process that I haven't closed yet.

It's made it possible for me to potentially double the down payment that I've gotten.

So instead of getting, I guess it's $3,000 down, I'm getting $3,000 plus another $3,000

on promissory note.

I didn't know that before, you know, Joe's instruction.

You know, I talk a lot.

I talk a lot and I think one of the things that is really helpful about what Joe is providing

right now is guidance on me closing my mouth and listening to what it is that people are

saying to me.

It just, that practice, which I'm not very good at, is, it's a useful thing to be able

to do.

You need to be able to listen to people and let them come to their own conclusions about

what the solution is.

And you know, that's been a struggle for me.

And his insistence on me doing that I think is going to make me much more effective.

It already has.

I mean, I can see the difference in the tweaks that I've done just over, like, the past

three coaching calls, that's been a focus and you know, as we go through the weeks and

I make these, these adjustments, you can see that I'll get, the conversations are longer,

you know?

I'm getting more out of it and it's a tangible thing that you can see that that

skill and that very important area is being developed because of the attention that he

had to it.

I didn't even know, I mean, I guess I didn't know, I can't say I didn't know that I

needed to do it, but his, his insistence on my being aware of it and focusing on it is

going to make it, I wouldn't have improved that area without that guidance.

So he says that you should wait three months before you, before you do it.

I think what's in the pipeline, I'm comfortable enough with what's happening, and I think

I'm disgruntled enough.

I've already given my resignation, so, I won't be doing what I'm doing now next

year.

I'll be full time.

I felt confident enough in the material and the responsiveness of Joe.

It was even before I started getting the kind of responses that I was getting.

So, before there was necessarily a change in the response or, you know, actually signing

memos and things like that.

I had already, well, no, I guess I can't say that.

After I got my third memo, I figured that it would work.

And I felt like with his guidance and the way that he is so responsive to the questions

that I had I was pretty confident that if I can be as minimally effective as I am now,

you know, after school, you know, once I don't have to spend eight hours of every day doing

something else, I just don't see how it can't be effective.

Obviously, you know, good instruction is key.

You know, it's, you, it's very hard to do something if you don't know how to do

it and this program definitely has, it has laid out a lot of the information in ways

that are much more clearly stated than anything else I've ever seen.

And again, even information that's very similar, the person who invented the process,

I feel like Joe actually conveys it, at least to my personality, a lot better.

So, it's, I have been around real estate, especially creative real estate investing

since 2001 and I've read a lot of courses, a lot of books and I am very impressed with

Joe's stuff.

Buail Cos - Stair an Damhsa 1-3 - Duration: 25:03.

Irish dancing has lifted the spirits

of Irish people here and abroad for centuries.

We know the Irish have always danced,

but few recordings survive from the olden days

to show that this was indeed the case.

In this series, we will look at the intriguing story

of dance in Ireland.

We also follow two dancers from today.

Niamh Taylor from Belfast is competing

for her 5th title in the Irish Dancing World Championship.

And Pádraig Ó Dubháin, a sean-nós dancer from Cill Chiaráin, Conamara,

is taking part in a sean-nós dancing competition at the Oireachtas.

Niamh Taylor is in Dublin

for the All-Ireland Irish dancing championships.

Dancers come from all over the world to compete here -

from Ireland, England and even from the United States.

The first item on today's agenda is the competition for céilí teams.

I like céilí dancing.

It's more stressful because you have a team

and everyone has to do the same thing.

We also have great fun because we're all friends and work well together.

Niamh's boyfriend Morgan is also a part of the 8-member team.

I've been going out with Morgan for about a year and a half.

He's also on my team. He also comes to the competitions.

He's interested in dancing so he likes going to competitions

and he likes to support me.

It's great.

Niamh's dance teachers are also feeling the pressure

as they have never had a team win an All-Ireland.

First up, Niamh is competing in the all-girl céilí team.

Niamh and her fellow dancers were hoping for a better result

but the mixed team is doing much better.

In our mixed team, three of the lads are world champions

but it doesn't make any difference.

There are eight people on the team and anyone can make a mistake.

This is the moment of truth for the céilí teams

but they're not quite sure what to expect.

One of our teams won. We were very surprised.

We weren't expecting to win so we're very excited now

and everyone is very happy.

It's clear that people have great respect for céilí dancing

because it's still a category in today's competitions.

But were it not for an organisation founded

in the late 19th century,

céilí dancing might be nothing like what it is today.

Central to the events that shaped the world of Irish dance

at the turn of the 20th century was the founding of Conradh na Gaeilge

or The Gaelic League as it was known in 1893.

This movement would have a major influence

on the future of Irish dance.

When Conradh na Gaeilge was formed, they were de-anglicising Ireland.

They wanted to bring Irish culture to the people and the world.

They wanted to develop the Irish language -

the language of the people.

They wanted to develop Irish literature

and singing through Irish and they also wanted to develop dancing.

But dancing in Ireland didn't change significantly

until a branch of the Gaelic League was formed in England.

That was a very important occasion.

That was the first céilí

but it continued in Ireland afterwards.

And then it spread from Ireland to other parts of the world.

Wherever you found Irish people, they went to céilí dances.

Céilí dances were held and céilí bands were also there.

It was an important part of their identity.

It was a part of their Irish identity.

Pádraig Ó Dubháin has great respect for his cultural heritage

even though he shows that respect through sean-nós dancing

and not through céilí dancing.

I'm here at a local school in Carna.

I'm going to give a dance class.

I've been giving classes here for about a year.

Teaching this type of dancing in the schools is important

because it ensures its survival.

I know that the kids really enjoy it

and that's important for the future of this type of dancing.

Teaching sean-nós dancing is a huge honour for us.

And it's great that we're developing sean-nós dancing with young people.

It's great to be involved in promoting sean-nós.

That's one of the best things about it.

In a few years, I'd love to be able to sit down and say,

"I helped develop sean-nós dancing and I'm happy with where it is now."

There are some good sean-nós dancers in the latest generation.

But they're moving away from sean-nós.

Instead of calling it sean-nós, you'd call it "nua-nós",

if you could call it that!

They have changed the style of dancing.

You'd only see two, three or four sean-nós steps

from some of the younger generation now.

They prefer to be play-acting instead of dancing.

I think it has changed completely.

Some of the younger generation do have the old style

but some of them don't have any respect for sean-nós dancing.

It's just a bit of fun for them.

Sean-nós dancing is a style of dancing

that's older than céilí dancing.

But Professor Patrick Reidy didn't have much respect

for this free-style form of dancing.

The professor was appointed a dancing master

with Conradh na Gaeilge in the 1890s to standardize céilí dancing.

Reidy's dancing style was the style he learnt from his father in Kerry

and that style made a big impact on league members in London.

They felt that Reidy's style was similar

to the Scottish style of dancing which led them to believe

that the people of both countries had common dancing traditions.

This led them to go in search of other dances of similar styles.

It's a new day

at the All-Ireland Irish dancing championships in Dublin.

And today Niamh will try to win her fifth All-Ireland title.

Today is the big day and I'm very nervous.

We're here practising before we take to the stage.

The children are dancing first

so all the girls are here preparing before they go on stage.

Before taking to the stage, her teacher Gavin has a present for her.

As we get close to the All-Ireland Irish dancing championships

and world championships every year, Gavin changes our costumes.

When I see it, I'm nervous to see something that's so wow.

It's nice to know that Gavin is so proud of us.

He comes in wearing our colours.

At the end of the day, if you're not happy with how you did,

you know that he is very supportive of you

because he shows how proud he is.

As her first dance approaches,

Niamh becomes increasingly nervous.

Before I go on stage, I get very nervous.

I'm terrible when I'm backstage.

I can't talk or think of anything.

I have to get my head right

and I have to do my routine to gather myself.

I read through my page and I'm always talking to God.

On that page, I write down the things that I control,

the things that give me confidence

and the things that prepare me before I go on stage.

One of the ones I like is:

Small things like that.

I have to get my mind right before I go on stage.

I like to get here early and get ready before I take to the stage.

We'll see!

During my performance, I have to stay positive the whole time.

If you think you're dying or your legs are sore, you fail.

During my performance, I stay as positive as I can

and I don't let negative thoughts enter my mind.

I remind myself of how good I am and how I'm ready for this competition.

Despite her nerves, Niamh gives a good performance.

Céilí dances reached a peak in popularity during the 20th century

until other forms of entertainment came to the fore.

Nowadays, sean-nós dancing has become very popular with people

and that is the case because a new generation of dancers,

like Pádraig Ó Dubháin, is showing an interest in that style.

Sean-nós dancing can be found throughout the world.

But I think the nicest form of sean-nós dancing

is found in Conamara.

It's where that style of dancing came from.

It's nice to stay true to the tradition.

A lot of dancers have moved away from the tradition.

My brother Gearóid and I try to stay true to the old style.

We might include a few different steps

but we try to stay close to the old style.

The Ó Dubháin family are renowned for their dancing skills,

and they are often asked to perform at various functions.

Tonight they are at a fundraising benefit for 'Ó Ghaillimh go Gaza'.

We'll be dancing at the end of the show with music by Máirtín O'Connor.

It should be a good night.

They have time to rehearse before they take to the stage.

The nicest thing about it all

is when the dancer and musician work well together.

People always talk about the dancer who dances with the music.

I've seen musicians who watch the dancer

and when the dancer does a few nice steps,

it gives the musician a boost

and he'll want to hit a few different notes.

As usual, the Ó Dubháin family finish off the night

on a lively note with a great display of dancing.

In Dublin, things are going well for Niamh as the top dancers

have been recalled to perform an individual step.

But with the set dance approaching,

Niamh is worried about the state of her shoes.

I should have new shoes.

The tips on these aren't that big.

It makes it more difficult to hit the floor.

You have more work to do to get all the clicks in.

I didn't really want to wear them but the other ones weren't ready.

I'm used to these shoes.

Normally, you dance on a much smaller stage

and in a much smaller hall.

While I was up on stage,

I saw how big it was and how many people were in the hall

and I knew I had to move forward on the stage

so that everyone could hear me

because my shoes weren't how I wanted them to be.

There's a piece of tape on the edge of the stage

and dancers know not to go past it.

But I was so close to it

and Gavin thought I was going to fall off the stage.

I think he had a heart attack!

As the results are announced,

it's clear that Niamh's strategy was successful.

I have no words to describe it.

After the whole day, you want to keep it all together.

When you get the results, it's great. I'm delighted.

Next week:

Niamh will be under pressure as she prepares for her A-Level Drama play

and the world championships.

And the Ó Dubháin family travel to Baile Átha Buí

for the All-Ireland sean-nós dancing championship.

Not My Fault The Customer is Mad - Duration: 8:32.

Hi there, I'm Angela Brown in this is Ask a House Cleaner.

This is a show where you get to ask a house cleaning question

and I get to help you find an answer.

Today's question comes from a house cleaner who is livid.

She's super upset because she spent 4 hours at a customer's house.

And when she was done the customer was not happy.

The customer refused to pay her and she was very upset about the way

the house cleaner cleaned.

So the house cleaner comes away, she's all ticked off.

She's angry.

"It's the customer's fault!"

"The customer ruined my day… this that and the other."

And she's very defensive.

Okay, so when this happens, the question from this woman is

"What am I supposed to do now?

Can I take her to small claims court?

Because I threatened her.

Okay, so what I want you to consider is this; as a business owner, you have a lot of options.

And because you chose a service business you're going to run into a lot of unhappy customers

along your journey.

I don't know why but there are a lot of different types of customers that are out there.

There are a lot of different personalities that are out there.

And a person yelling at you does not necessarily mean that you did a bad job.

It's very possible that they just got in a fight with their spouse, you just happened

to walk through the room, and they took all that out on you.

A lot of times it doesn't have anything to do with you whatsoever.

And once the dust settles and that person is able to collect their thoughts, it might

be a different scenario.

Where they come back and they apologize and they pay you, I don't know.

But there will be a whole bunch of opportunities for customer service

in the house cleaning business.

So, having said that, think of it as a ballgame.

A customer is angry and they toss you a ball.

What do you do?

Do you catch the ball or do you step aside and let the ball fly right by you?

That's the question and here's why.

If you catch the ball you have choices.

You can hold on to it and think "Okay, this customer is really angry.

How am I going to resolve this?"

You can toss it right back to him and say; "Hey, wait a second.

I offer a satisfaction guarantee.

Let me come back and make the job right."

Or you can take the ball and you can spin it, and you can play with it, and you can

walk it over to a neighbor and say "Hey I need some advice, what do I do here?"

But as long as you've caught that ball you're in control.

If you step aside and you let it fly by you,

that ball flies right by you and it hits the ground.

When it hits the ground you no longer have control of the situation

and neither does your customer.

If somebody throws something at you, you have a choice to catch it.

My suggestion to you is always choose to catch that ball

because once you catch it you're still in control.

If you let it fly by you you're not in control at all and neither is your customer.

So, when you have a customer type of scenario catch the ball.

Okay, now what do you do with the ball once you have it?

Well, because you have the ball you're in control.

And so, you can go back to the customer and say,

"Hey listen I know you're not happy.

I don't want to see you unhappy because I'm a business owner.

I base my living, off of my reputation, and so I want you

to have an excellent customer experience.

What do I have to do to make this situation correct?"

And you can give them an option.

You can throw the ball back at them.

You can have them help you be part of the solution.

Or if they're not willing to talk and they're just really upset and

they're not thinking clearly.

You can come back and say "here's what I'm prepared to do…" and you can offer solutions.

But you can do that as long, and only as long as you're holding the ball.

If you're in control of the situation you get to choose what happens next.

If you let the ball fly by you, you don't get to choose.

This is not your game anymore; the game has stopped.

And so, between you and the customer you either get fired or the customer bad-mouths you on

social media or whatever.

Now we live in a world where everything you say can last for infinity.

Thanks to the internet and social media and screenshots and sharing and all these things.

Those are the things that promote you and those are the things that bring you down.

So you have a choice always choose always choose to catch the ball.

Okay, now let's say that you get in a situation where the customers really upset

and you're really upset.

Stop.

Stop.

Take a really deep breath.

I invite you all to take a really deep breath.

Get the oxygen flowing to your brain.

And then when you are able to slow down long enough, you can start

thinking through your options.

When you stop take a couple of steps back remove yourself from the big picture.

And as you look back on this scenario what do you see?

Who are you talking to?

Are you talking to someone from a different culture?

Because if you are, you grew up in two separate parts of the world.

You grew up with two different sets of beliefs.

You group with two different sets of ideals.

How on earth is it that you expect that you're going to see eye-to-eye?

There are some common discrepancies between people.

Are you speaking to someone who's twice your age?

Because if you are you're speaking to someone who has a whole

lot more life experience than you do.

And so how would you expect to see eye-to-eye if there's a 30-year age gap between you and

the person that you're speaking with?

You come from two completely different generations.

Of course, there's going to be a discrepancy.

That's just the common law of nature, right?

So, if you can take a step backwards and say "Wow wait a second, this customer is seeing

something I'm not seeing."

You can choose to be informed and say "Hey listen, my generation doesn't understand what

this is that you're telling me.

Can you explain it to me so as a business owner I now can move forward with the information

you're sharing with me?"

Because it might be true that a particular generation has a particular work ethic and

a younger generation doesn't have that same work ethic.

And so, if they can explain that to you and they can explain to you what their expectations

are, it's possible that you can incorporate the things that they share with you.

And you can toss that ball back and stay in business.

And not just toss the ball back to them, but to the other customers that are from that

same generation.

Does that make sense?

You want to always choose to be informed.

When someone comes to you and they're angry, this is going to sound really counterintuitive.

But when someone comes to you and they're angry,

this is an opportunity for you to expand your horizons.

There are so many different people in the world.

So many different personalities, so many different generations and different upbringings, and

different cultures.

There's so much as business owners we can learn.

And if you choose to use that as an opportunity to learn and improve, it can take your business

so far above the other people that you're competing with in your marketplace.

They're like "well, is not my fault.

She's a bad customer.

I'm just going to leave and walk away."

No. don't leave and walk away.

Jump in the line of fire and catch that ball.

Go back to the customer and say "Hey listen, you're not happy.

I don't like it when you're not happy.

Can you share with me how I can fix this and make this right?"

And learn from that opportunity, because if you catch that ball and you learn from that

opportunity this could skyrocket your business.

Now, I get the fact that you were mistreated.

I get the fact that you didn't get paid.

But this is like you going to college except you don't have the college expense.

You lost whatever the price was of that house cleaning because she didn't pay you.

Right?

So that was an investment in your learning.

This is the School of Hard Knocks and so that was the fee of admission for this lesson.

Most of the lessons are free, but every once in a while, you got to ante up some money

and this was one of those scenarios.

So, don't look at as like I lost the money and it's the customer's fault and I'm all

angry and all these things.

Don't do that because when you do that you're stepping aside and you're letting that ball

fly right by you.

And now the game is over.

You'll learn nothing, you're not in control, and you lost your customer.

Alright so that's my tip for today.

I hope that helps just a little bit.

Please keep me posted.

Let me know how this works out because I am interested.

and I do want to hear the ending to this interesting story.

Alright and until we meet again,

leave the world a cleaner place than when you found it.

countries to live here because it is a

very fair and nice country our

government pays for a lot of things that

are useful like for our healths schools

and many more that some people don't

even know everyone here respects each

other and we are lucky to live in a

Adventure to the other side

Searchin high and low For the treasure deep in your soul

The fortune tellers always right

Got them red eyes in the night Like a panther out of sight

Gonna sing my battle cry Cos I am the, I am the...

I am the hunter I am the great unknown

Only my love can conquer I am the, I am the hunter

I am the hunter Into the wild we go

Give up your heart, surrender Cos I am the, I am the hunter

Strangers wild and free Through the flames you're all that I see

A force you, that you can't deny

Hear my calling Lock and load, come running to me

We're dancing through to midnight

Got them red eyes in the night Like a panther out of sight

Gonna sing my battle cry Cos I am the, I am the...

Griffin Pin, Tulumbas GamePlay on Shengzeng Map 800k Damage - Duration: 8:40.

Let me know if you love subtitle by comment, I'll continue my work!

Ok, Let's begin

Tips: Don't use bot without ancile in this place too long, long-range weapon always look at this place .

See!!

Now, learn counting time, know where your teammate going and if they can help you or not is very important. Even in my Clan there are people who just drive their bot without thinking of teamate., That's crazy!!

Ok, This Lancelot Thunder shouldn't do that, he may go the same way lancelot Taran do and kill those lancelot Taran in diffirent angel.

This guy is shooting to my teammate, so i will disturb this guy buy trying to shoot at him

Hmm, I'll help this guy out

Shit, my big mistake, get surrounded by 3 lancelot, that's why I don't like to use Lancelot Taran.

I'm die anyway, but I'm waiting for one guy empty their Taran and I'll have 5 second to shoot other guy.

Now, look around the battle before choosing new robots, btw...don't try to chase the guy take you down, stay calm.

Ohh shit, I didn't see the Lancelot thunder, same on him too :)), what a luck

Fixed!

OK, wait here to reload and calm yourself before attack

Locate enemy to avoid my last mistake...

Trying to take beacon? Wrong in this situation, you should play aggressive to take the beacon if you can hold this for awhile. Don't be this guy.

Remember my #1 tip's in this video?

See the OZL clan guy? He really know the beacon important, and if he take this beacon the enemy will take a while to take it back.

In this map, try to spread on three a side will be good (not all time).

Destroy his robots cause he know he can do nothing for lancelot Ancile is coming, It's time to use another useful robots. This guy is smart.

My HP is low, I can't face to face with this guy, I'll take as much damage as i can.

Better if you take ancile down before using orkan, more damage will be dealed.

Here is my another mistake, try to attack but don't know Enemy robot weapon, but I'm lucky this one.

In this case you should stay still, This guy is coming to this beacon anyway, attack when he arrive.

Time to bring this guy out, Alot of Ancile has been taken down, kaka

Yah, No Ancile anymore, time to get high damage

This Guy!

Ok, I know this guy weapon range is 300m, I'll Jump to follow him, I have long-range advantage

This Guy

And this Guy

I'll choose this Guy, his HP is high.kaka

This Guy

Oh, 10 Au

DRAW MY LIFE - Transgender FtM Timeline - Duration: 7:52.

I don't know when life really begins. When parents meet? or grandparents were

born? I think I'll just start from what I know my name is Sam and I was born on

the 5th of February 1999 in Denmark. Just after I came out of my mum she exclaimed

"He so cute!" when the nurse moved my umbilical cord from between my legs well

let's just say there was something missing and that is the story of how I

became a girl. Well sort of... spoiler alert my mom's womb isn't my

only coming-out experience. June 6th that year was my christening.

Considering I was unable to clothe myself or have any comprehension of

attire for that matter I complied with the dress code willingly. The full name

my parents gave me was Mathilda Corfitsen. The first two and a half years of my

life were spent in a Danish country home with my mum dad and older brother. I

don't really have any memories of living there though only stories my family's

told me then in 2001 we found ourselves with the house packed into a shipping

container relocating with us to the land of Vegemite and kangaroo

taxis - Australia. I was pretty shy as a kid once at kindergarten I got super

upset because I was convinced that my mum had left without saying goodbye. Good

thing she was just a phone call away and our house is about 100 metres up the

street. I got more confident as I moved into primary school and turned into a

pretty cheeky kid my best friend and I would pretend to be asleep after

relaxation to get out of class out of school we would play outside making

potions and causing havoc on dirt piles I can't say this impressed my mom since

she would usually end up with the washing. I joined a soccer team with my

brother which was coached by my dad for a while. I liked playing on a mixed team

because I felt like there was always something for me to prove. This was just

the beginning for me in sport. I joined more soccer teams and also

picked up badminton after practicing on the street with dad. Late primary school

you'd be hard pressed to see me wearing anything other than hand-me-down clothes

from my brother having my hair down was just as rare there was approximately 1

day per year that my hair wasn't tied back in a ponytail my fondest memories

school photo day by my final year of primary school my best mates were the

boys in my year everyone pretty much saw me as one of them there was even a point

when they called me Matthew instead of Mathilda lunches were spent

playing soccer and chasey which was awesome when graduation came around I

went out clothes shopping with my mum with the freedom to choose whatever I

wanted naturally I decided on bright green high-top

converse blue jeans and a Puma sports t-shirt when I showed up my teacher

actually asked me if I was going home to get changed into my dress like all the

other girls I was so confused because I thought I was looking pretty fly

it was then I started questioning my clothing choices with primary school

fading in the rearview mirror I moved on to high school and decided that it was

time for a change I started wearing a dress and after some classmates kindly

explained to me that girls don't have hairy legs I started shaving my chest

was flat but I still wore - sports bras just to feel comfortable getting changed

for PE was so awful that I used to awkwardly hide it in a toilet cubicle

away from everyone else outside of school I was juggling so many interests

which meant I rarely had free time at one point I trained for 20 hours a week

had piano lessons was teaching myself guitar practicing my drawing skills all

on top of a huge academic workload it was an excellent way to keep myself

busy or distracted in year 9 I joined the school's volleyball program which

meant even more training this was also the year I learnt what transgender meant

I was terrified and tried to completely push the thought from my mind

I managed okay for the next few years focusing on school sport music ah and

writing but I was constantly running from myself at the start of year 11 I

began to struggle and lost interest in nearly everything without ways to spend

my time my mind started catching up with me

slowly at first then all at once I was forced to take a good look at myself in

the mirror and confront the thing I feared most of all myself it took

another whole year of dragging this hidden truth behind me finally I cut my

hair then on January 6 2016 I came in to myself I wrote a letter explaining

everything to my family a few weeks later I came out publicly as transgender

which immediately gave me this indescribable freedom it was a

short-lived honeymoon period and before long different clouds started rolling

back in I continued to struggle with school had completely cut our sport and

could barely get out of the house I felt stuck I tried to get help it took a long

time to realize that help from other people would only work if I was willing

to accept it fully to stop denying problems and take life into my own hands

the decision to change came from the realization that transitioning won't

solve everything I needed to heal myself slowly I started bringing myself back to

life first in notebooks then out loud I became my own best friend replanting

seeds of self-worth and confidence fast forward through months and weeks days

and hours and minutes from seconds of mending myself which brings me to now

the seeds have sprouted and grown this is just the beginning but right now I'm

just a tiny speck planting more seeds in this crazy planet a tiny beautiful speck

and together a lot of tiny specks can create something bigger and even more

beautiful than that one tiny speck could ever have dreamed of hailer as you may

have guessed I'm Sam and this was me during my life of course a lot of other

stuff has happened in my 18 years but I tried to choose things that feel

significant to me I wanted to be honest about all of the ups and downs that I've

been through because that really is part of life

I think overcoming struggle builds a lot of character and as cliche as it might

sound I really am grateful for everything that I've been through now I

feel even more prepared for anything that last will throw at me suffering

really does turn into strength so take care of yourself I'll see you next time

you
