Youtube daily report Oct 23 2017

My boyfriend says I have Prince hair.

So...

I barely wash it in a regularly scheduled fashion.

"Did you do anything with your hair?

Are you gonna do something with your hair?"

It's like, "My hair is done though."

Hey NaturallyCurly World!

I'm Gerilyn, and this is The Best Ever--

The Best Ever--

The Best Ever Bad Hair Day Fix.

[electronic music plays]

Bad hair days!

Uh, I am a lazy natural.

I don't do anything to my hair.

So two years ago, I did the big chop, and I went short -- real short.

So I got my hair cut into a pixie cut, and as you can see, I'm growing it out, and it's

a struggle.

So bad hair days are pretty much five out of seven days of the week for me because I

told y'all before I am straight up lazy when it comes to styling my hair.

So my bad hair days usually are about my hair being dirty.

Doing a lot of this, and that's not socially acceptable to do in public.

So right now, my hair is all different types of lengths.

As you can see, it's longer in the front, and it's still short on the sides.

So if I do not finger coil...this is my go-to y'all.

This is everything for me.

So I just started off really just playing with it one day and kind of twirling it.

And then, I started watching some YouTube videos, and I found out that it's a thing.

Like this is a real live method.

So my go-to is The Mane Choice Softening Milk and I apply this from root to tip, and I section

it off and part it into big sections, finger coil it.

And then I undo each one, fluff, and I go.

Bad hair days for me, it's just shrinkage.

Which I am proud of.

So my bad hair day fixes just include hats.

I wear hats because I love them.

They're the easiest accessory to put on top of my head.

And I got some inspiration from one of my favorite rappers.

His name is Future.

You can drag me all day long -- the dude has style, and I'm a huge fan of that.

So I asked my mom to for Christmas to buy me hats, and she is so sweet and she totally

bought me this beautiful red hat.

And if you have ever seen a Future video, you know that he wears hats.

And he has a red hat in one video.

I loved it.

I thought he looked so cool.

And I was like "You know what?

I can rock a red hat!"

So my bad hair day fix is wrap it up!

Wear a head wrap.

How many head wraps do I own?

They have their own drawer.

I might have like, twenty?

I get them from everywhere.

The Wrap Life, chicks on Instagram that be selling head wraps, Target.

Thrift it!

Sometimes I thrift it, you know what I'm saying, I get a nice 100% silk scarf.

Wrap it up.

Lavish, I know.

So on top of my dirty hair is a 100% silk scarf.

So this is one of my favorite head wraps.

It's by Chinero Nnamani on Instagram.

And I love it because it's double sided, so it's like "Ooh, are you giving them this today?

Are you giving them this tomorrow?"

It's like two head wraps in one, and then when you twist it and mix it.

It's a whole new look.

It's so innovative.

So that's what I do, ya know, I just wrap my hair up and I look like I tried.

So for me, finger coils really give me that definition that I need right now, since my

hair is all these different layers.

It really helps define my hairstyle.

When I have my hair out of braids and or any type of protective style, it fits easily and

beautifully.

As you can see, I can't put it on the way that I want to.

Even though you know, Future has dreads and he makes his hat work, but I can't adjust

this hat to like, kinda emulate that.

However, just distract 'em.

Just hit 'em with a ---

You know, don't worry about the fact that you're having a bad hair day.

You just rock your hat.

That's all you gotta do.

I do have a tutorial here on this channel about the many different ways I tie my head

wraps.

But the biggest piece of advice I can give you is to just keep tying knots until it looks

like something.

I never get it right the first time.

That's it!

That is my bad hair day fix - a head wrap.

In the comments below, let me know what your bad hair day fix is.

Jessica Alba On Her Date Night & Beauty Routines | Beauty With Mi | Refinery29 - Duration: 6:21.

Oh!

Hey, guys!

I'm just here in The Standard New York.

I'm just taking a little bit of a staycation,

getting some work done, getting in the zone.

But you will never guess what just happened.

My friend Jessica

just launched a new skin care collection

and by Jessica, I mean Jessica

Alba.

She decided to show me her skin care routine

because I'm always talking about how amazing

her skin is.

So if you're ready for a very special episode

of Beauty With Mi,

keep watching to find out what we did.

I think Jessica's here!

Hi guys!

So I am here with Jessica Alba.

We've got our robes on.

We're all comfy.

And I thought that it'd be fun if you can walk me through

your skin care routine because you have amazing skin.

Thank you.

And I want to know the secrets.

So do you.

I'm wearing foundation.

I'm wearing a lot of it, a lot of it right now.

So first things first,

we started with taking off all of my makeup.

I was wearing quite a bit of it.

I love doing wipes and then at the end of it,

seeing how much makeup is on your face.

I know. It's so satisfying, right?

I also like to use these before I go to the gym.

The gym is another good place to have wipes.

Yeah.

What are some things that you always bring to the gym?

I always bring wipes,

magic balm,

and I am that person that can't live without concealer.

Same.

Because I have like black under my eyes.

Are you a morning gym person or an evening?

Morning. Morning.

—Ugh that is not me. —Morning.

I don't want to be a morning gym person.

But I kind of feel like if I don't get it done in the morning,

I'll never get it done.

Makeup off.

There's a lot on it.

So now we're going to use—I love the konjac sponge.

What's so nice about this is

it sort of gently exfoliates.

You can put a couple of pumps.

Now this is our new sal acid cleanser.

It's a sal acid that is made derived from wintergreen.

Oh this feels good.

I've actually used konjac cleansers before

but this one is actually the softest one I've

ever used.

—It feels so good. —Isn't it so nice?

The cleanser is really nice.

It doesn't feel stripping.

I love that it's not like foaming too much.

I'm wondering what a typical Sunday night routine

looks like for you and your family.

Sunday night routine:

my husband loves making tacos.

They're beef tacos and I have to cut everything…

That's some serious business.

Yeah.

He makes me cut everything

exactly how he wants them to.

I've tried to throw in bell peppers and stuff.

He's like, "You're ruining my tacos."

And I'm like, "Alright, Cash."

Then we moved onto the toner.

I love toner.

My skin agrees with it very well.

Put it onto a little cotton pad,

swept it over,

made sure that my face is totally free of makeup.

I'm under a lot of confusion even about what toner is.

Yeah well I just feel like it's a very refreshing step

and I really like it especially when

I do work a lot or when I am having a

little more breakouts.

I do love to use a toner.

I think my skin is kind of addicted to it.

We also found out some

cool little tidbits about her family.

She told me that the whole family

likes to watch "Chopped Junior"

and I got really excited.

I love "Chopped Junior!"

—It's so good. —It's so good.

You can't...

It makes me feel bad about my cooking ability.

I mean it's unreal.

How do you they even know to do those combinations?

I mean it's insane.

They're just like,

"Yeah, never made ice cream before but I'll try it."

Or the deep fryers,

how they just put things in the deep fryers.

And they're so tiny.

—They can't reach. —And they don't burn themselves.

They're so good.

I burn all of my arms every time.

So we had a little moment there.

Then we moved on to the retinol night serum,

which is kind of more like a moisturizer than

it is a serum.

The texture itself is a little bit more creamy

and feels really hydrating on the face.

I'm so excited that you have a retinol

in this line because I'm obsessed with retinol.

For those of you who don't know

it's a type of Vitamin A that helps speed up cellular

turnover.

So it's really great for wrinkles.

This retinol is also very gentle.

A lot of retinols can be overdrying.

So make sure with your retinol

that you're only using it at night.

Because you are going to have

a little bit more sensitive skin.

And you want to make sure that you have a really great

sunscreen for daytime use,

even in the winter.

100% always wear sunscreen.

Always wear sunscreen.

Jessica said you can use it on its own

actually and not top it off with any moisturizer,

but we did go in with moisturizer after.

When do you use this?

Do you use it at night as well?

You can use this with the retinol.

You can use it on days

that you don't want to use the retinol,

if you want to skip a of couple days.

Or you use in the morning, prior to your sunscreen.

I love the texture.

I know we just took makeup off,

but I feel like this would layer really well under makeup.

Exactly.

Finally, we used the spot treatment.

Probably one of my favorites.

I like to have a spot treatment

in pretty much every single bag I have,

on my bedside table,

in my living room.

So you can use this at night,

in the morning,

during the day,

and it's also fast acting.

It feels good.

It also is completely transparent.

So you're not walking around with pink dots

that are all over your face.

But like drying lotion stuff,

that's not a good look.

Well thank you so much for joining me

at The Standard Hotel in New York.

It's been really fun.

Yeah, thank you for having me.

Be sure to check out this entire

Younger + Clearer Collection.

It's coming out on the end August

on honestbeauty.com.

I'm very excited and I get to try it early.

Yeah, you do.

Jessica was so nice

and she gave me everything.

So I'm excited to try everything afterward.

But it was just so cool to hang out with her.

She said that I was so knowledgeable.

I freaked out.

I felt like I got a little scoop.

Well my skin feels great.

I'm very tired.

I had quite a day,

so I'm going to go to bed now.

See ya next time!

Thank you guys so much for watching.

Let me know what you want to see next

in the comments below and click here to subscribe

What in the world is topological quantum matter? - Fan Zhang - Duration: 5:03.

What if electricity could travel forever without being diminished?

What if a computer could run exponentially faster with perfect accuracy?

What technology could those abilities build?

We may be able to find out thanks to the work of the three scientists

who won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2016.

David Thouless,

Duncan Haldane,

and Michael Kosterlitz won the award for discovering

that even microscopic matter at the smallest scale

can exhibit macroscopic properties and phases that are topological.

But what does that mean?

First of all, topology is a branch of mathematics

that focuses on fundamental properties of objects.

Topological properties don't change when an object is gradually stretched or bent.

The object has to be torn or attached in new places.

A donut and a coffee cup look the same to a topologist

because they both have one hole.

You could reshape a donut into a coffee cup

and it would still have just one.

That topological property is stable.

On the other hand, a pretzel has three holes.

There are no smooth incremental changes that will turn a donut into a pretzel.

You'd have to tear two new holes.

For a long time, it wasn't clear whether topology was useful

for describing the behaviors of subatomic particles.

That's because particles, like electrons and photons,

are subject to the strange laws of quantum physics,

which involve a great deal of uncertainty

that we don't see at the scale of coffee cups.

But the Nobel Laureates discovered that topological properties

do exist at the quantum level.

And that discovery may revolutionize materials science,

electronic engineering,

and computer science.

That's because these properties lend surprising stability

and remarkable characteristics to some exotic phases of matter

in the delicate quantum world.

One example is called a topological insulator.

Imagine a film of electrons.

If a strong enough magnetic field passes through them,

each electron will start traveling in a circle,

which is called a closed orbit.

Because the electrons are stuck in these loops,

they're not conducting electricity.

But at the edge of the material,

the orbits become open, connected, and they all point in the same direction.

So electrons can jump from one orbit to the next

and travel all the way around the edge.

This means that the material conducts electricity around the edge

but not in the middle.

Here's where topology comes in.

This conductivity isn't affected by small changes in the material,

like impurities or imperfections.

That's just like how the hole in the coffee cup

isn't changed by stretching it out.

The edge of such a topological insulator has perfect electron transport:

no electrons travel backward,

no energy is lost as heat,

and the number of conducting pathways can even be controlled.

The electronics of the future could be built

to use this perfectly efficient electron highway.

The topological properties of subatomic particles

could also transform quantum computing.

Quantum computers take advantage of the fact

that subatomic particles can be in different states at the same time

to store information in something called qubits.

These qubits can solve problems exponentially faster

than classical digital computers.

The problem is that this data is so delicate

that interaction with the environment can destroy it.

But in some exotic topological phases,

the subatomic particles can become protected.

In other words, the qubits formed by them

can't be changed by small or local disturbances.

These topological qubits would be more stable,

leading to more accurate computation and a better quantum computer.

Topology was originally studied as a branch of purely abstract mathematics.

Thanks to the pioneering work of Thouless, Haldane, and Kosterlitz,

we now know it can be used to understand the riddles of nature

and to revolutionize the future of technologies.

Series and Parallel Circuits - Series VS Parallel - Difference between Series and Parallel Circuits - Duration: 2:42.

Components of an electrical circuit or electronic circuit can be connected in many different

ways.

The two simplest of these are called series and parallel and occur frequently.

Components connected in series are connected along a single path, so the same current flows

through all of the components.

Components connected in parallel are connected along multiple paths, so the same voltage

is applied to each component.

In this video we will learn Difference between series and parallel circuit.

Series Circuits:- Series circuits are sometimes called current-coupled

or daisy chain-coupled.

The current in a series circuit goes through every component in the circuit.

Therefore, all of the components in a series connection carry the same current.

There is only one path in a series circuit in which the current can flow.

Parallel Circuits:- If two or more components are connected in

parallel they have the same potential difference across their ends.

The potential differences across the components are the same in magnitude, and they also have

identical polarities.

The same voltage is applicable to all circuit components connected in parallel.

The total current is the sum of the currents through the individual components, in accordance

with Kirchhoff's current law.

Now let's see Difference between series and parallel circuit.

Series circuits are basic types of electrical circuits in which all components are connected

in a chain so that the same current flows through all of them.

Parallel circuits are types of circuits in which the same voltage occurs in all components,

with the current dividing among the components based on their resistances, or the impedances.

Series circuit intends to have the same amount of current flow through all the components

placed in sequence.

Parallel series components are not in sequence but they are parallel to each other.

Series will have all the components in the same single path of the current flow.

Parallel series split the current flow and the current flowing through each component

will eventually combine to form the current flowing in the source.

In series circuits, the connection or circuit will not be complete if one component in the

series burns out.

Parallel circuits will still continue to operate, at least with other components, if one parallel-connected

component burns out.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders Reveals What She Does Before Every White House Briefing(VIDEO)!!! - Duration: 7:30.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders Reveals What She Does Before Every White House Briefing

I returned to the White House to check in with the second Republican woman and

first mom to serve as White House press secretary a live look at 1600

Pennsylvania Avenue here in Washington where I had the privilege to serve as

press secretary for President George W Bush earlier this week I returned to my

old stomping grounds to sit down with the current press secretary

Sarah Sanders what is your first news memory and did it affect any of your

education or career choices the first one that comes to mind would probably be

when my dad ran for the US Senate in 1992 I was nine and he lost it was a

devastating night for our family and I remember just the impact it certainly

gave me a greater appreciation for when you win in versus when you lose when he

decided to run again did you as a kid did you not want him to you know at that

age it seemed fun and fascinating when most kids were going to summer camp I

was doing like the Arkansas festival circuit and so I thought it was all

great and I loved the campaign aspect from a really early age and I was

excited for him - your dad told me that you had a desk like an office when you

were four years old I did it was actually in his office so he had the big

like credenza and underneath that bottom part I could keep all of my own supplies

my you know tape and glue and scissors and make wonderful masterpieces I'm sure

I was the first Republican woman press secretary you are the second we you're

the third woman overall but you are the first working mother to ever have this

job in this job we everybody sees you all the time we know that you're working

24/7 so how do you balance it all I think one of the biggest things is the

moments that I do have with my kids have to be really present I try to put my

phone away and fully focus on the time that I have with them and I try to block

out specific time whether it's early in the morning

I think it's probably a blessing I have early risers people always ask what's

the hardest thing about your job for me it's being away from my family the other

part is having an incredible partner my husband is supportive and he puts up

with all of this and helps keep you know all of us afloat and I couldn't do it

without having him as that support system to get through each day in my

book I wrote that with my favorite piece of advice is that choosing to be loved

is not a career limiting decision and was he your boss at some point no I was

actually hindering his boss I was his boss I think that some people imagine

that if they ever want to have this job that it's this magical moment and a real

Cinderella story and the stars come out and there's a band and it's like

everyone is so excited that certainly was not my experience with no band I can

assure you and for you you didn't really have any time for a honeymoon it was

just hit the ground running yeah so it all happened within about a four hour

period I loved the deputy job it was great I

found that is in the deputy position that's when you get to know the

commander-in-chief very well in a little bit more of a relaxed setting possibly I

think any job in the White House is incredible and I've always said if I

ever walk into the building and I'm not in awe of being here and being part of

it then I've been here too long and it's time to go thankfully I still feel a

sense of reverence every time I step into the building certainly every time I

step into the briefing room and I hope I never lose that yeah I used to say a

little prayer of thanks and gratitude every morning as the Marine opened the

door I say and I also say a little prayer of God helped me every day right

before walking into that room so recently in the Atlantic magazine Glen

thrush said he thought the administration's apparent tension with

the press was overstated would you agree no I I know Glenn well

but you know I think that there's always going to be tension between whatever

administration is in place at that time with the White House press corps but I

do think that there is a heightened tension

certainly between this administration and the press is you have hold on I

allowed you to finish I think you can see that in the coverage I mean I've

been around press and worked in politics my entire life and I've never

experienced the level of kind of hostility that I think we see day-to-day

on the day of the Las Vegas massacre that was the first day of my new show

the daily briefing and so we were covering your briefing and Ari Fleischer

a former press secretary as well was on as my guest and we watched you the

memory of those who displayed the ultimate expression of love in the midst

of unimaginable act of hate will never fade showing that emotion was important

and it's not always easy to do at the podium yeah you want to I think project

strength certainly from an administration standpoint but I think at

that moment the country was broken and I felt like it was an appropriate time if

ever to show the emotion of that situation but the biggest thing I wanted

to do was talk about the spirit of our country and I wanted to make sure to

communicate that like me you were student body president and you but

unlike me you come from a political family do you think you ever see

yourself running for office III don't think so

I never like there's an opening I never like to say never because it'll come

back to bite you every time I think I have a perfect plan for my life God

tells me otherwise and so I never really envisioned sitting here having this

conversation with you not even as far back as you know maybe two years ago and

so never say never but I don't think that's part of the master plan for me

but again right now it's one day at a time and trying to do the best I can

our thanks to Sarah up next two former presidents from two different parties

weigh in on the state of politics today but first Sarah and I went outside the

west wing for a lightening round including her most embarrassing moment

on the job so far what time do you wake up usually about 5:15 I'm your owner

with an alarm with an alarm and usually a child what is the last thing you read

before bed usually the last email working miles of

the marine one or airforce one I think marine one it's a little bit

more special it's a smaller group so it's pretty excited coffee lots your

most embarrassing moment as White House press secretary so far oh when they had

a bring your child to work day I just brought my middle son Huck who's for now

and I'd gone into the Oval to explain to the president he was going to go out and

take a picture with all the kids so I'm in there walking them through you're

gonna go out or take the picture you'll come back in and I look up and I see the

bushes in the rose garden like violently shaking and then I see a little blonde

head pop up and then I see my son's face peeking into the window of the Oval and

the president's like there's a little boy in the bushes and I'm just like

happy mine that's my son thank you god bless you and God bless america

Total SOLAR ECLIPSE 2017 Storytime + Footage | Hobo Ahle - Duration: 9:20.

so little story time about the Eclipse the one that happened back in August... so

first of all I went. And to preface this story I'm a big believer in well,

honestly a lot of things, but in reference to this- particularly two

things. The first being that I think everything happens for a reason,

And the second: coincidences are very very important events that happen in our

life and I don't think that they happen just by chance.

So to start, how I ended up actually going to see the Eclipse was completely

random. I think I had heard about it or read about it online, kind of just

googled it to see what exactly- what it was I thought it seemed really cool and

I decided yeah like I really want to go see this. And at this point it's like

five months prior to the actual time the Eclipse is about to happen. So when I can

I like to travel with other people and I figured that five months was more than

enough time to give someone to kind of plan ahead right? And I kind of have like

a go-to set group of people that I usually travel with there's about four

or five of them. So I just reached out to a few to see if any of them could

actually make this happen and one of them was totally on board, they thought

it was really cool, they were down, but their first question to me was "Well

where are we gonna go see it?" and I was just kind of like "honestly, no idea

whatsoever but we've got plenty of time we'll figure it out." So then it gets

closer and closer to the date where the Eclipse is actually about to go down...

this is probably like three weeks prior and the person I'm gonna go with asks me

again where- what the plans are, where we're going, and I honestly still have no

idea. I hadn't really researched anything, the only thing that I did know is that

it was going to be a mission to figure something out because many many many

people planned way in advance for this so lots of places for camping were full

and everything so I just knew it was gonna be- it was gonna be work.

So at about the same time the person that I had planned on going with had family visiting

the area that they live in and typically when they had this family visit they

wouldn't even meet up with them or anything, but it just so happened that

this time they did. So when they met up they started talking about the Eclipse

and their family members volunteered the information that they had property right

on the line. And naturally they offered to host us, which was amazing because

there was just no way that whatever I would have planned was going to be even

half as perfect as that. And honestly that right there was a perfect example

of tying into the fact that I don't believe things just happen or

coincidences just happen. Like I definitely felt like that was a clear

sign of like "okay you want to go see this Eclipse? Well here- here is the

answer." So we ended up getting to Nebraska the day before the Eclipse and

it was kind of cool because it provided for this full well-rounded experience

like we got to go to the nearby towns and see other people's campsites and

throughout the day we just did some really fun stuff.

So that was Sunday the day prior to the Eclipse. Now on Monday the day of, it was

time to go to the actual place where we were gonna watch the Eclipse so everyone

piled into the vehicles and we started kind of like off-roading into these

hills to find the tallest one where we were gonna situate ourselves and see

everything. So we park all the trucks on top of this hill and start taking out

the chairs, and the umbrellas, and the blankets and everything and just do a

full set up. And as I'm looking around I'm just like "wow, this is amazing. Like

absolutely amazing." Cuz you kind of do like a 360 look around and all you could

really see was just the horizon, hills, and the people that I was with like

there were no other people for miles. And it just felt so special because you know,

here we are waiting for the Eclipse about to happen- something that you may

never get to see again, something that a lot of people aren't getting to see

right now, and something that people in their entire lives may never see. And

granted that's because maybe they don't care about it and that's totally fine,

but at the end of the day like it is very rare. And so I was just so

appreciative of everyone and everything that was around me and the fact that we

were getting to do this in such an intimate and private way it was- it was

something that was very very special. And not to mention even though the actual

Eclipse went by pretty fast it was still really cool

Overall, I'm just super thankful for my Eclipse experience in its entirety like

not just the Eclipse itself, but every little moment from like how it came

together, to actually being there and the day before, and then getting to see the

actual beauty of the Eclipse. And I'm especially thankful for the people who

pretty much made this whole thing happen. To letting us stay on their property and

showing us around the day before, it just would not have been the same without

them. So here's the deal, the whole point in telling you guys that story was just

kind of - well I'll try not to sound too out of the box or hippyish or whatever

but the idea that we as humans are part of the earth. It's not just like the

earth is there and we live on it. It really is like we are part of nature and

the world and all living things so since we are essentially a part of it... the fact

that there would be a way for nature or the universe or whatever you would like

to name that to communicate with you as a person would kind of only make sense

because you are part of the same being the same force right. And one of the ways

that I feel nature or the universe or whatever can communicate with us is

going to be through the form of coincidences. Because as I said point

number one earlier that I think everything happens for a reason. So

although they're called coincidences I still don't think that they happen just

out of the blue you know, I think that what they are, are kind of signs that if

you are open to them and receptive then they can potentially lead you in a

direction that will help guide you on your life's journey. And again, like I

said I'm trying to keep this as you know... not... as possible, but I definitely think

that's a thing. Like for example at the beginning of my story where I was trying

to figure out where to go for the Eclipse, these people that I didn't even

know just came out of nowhere and presented an answer to my problem. And

that's the type of stuff where it's kind of like yeah, okay this is super

coincidental, but I feel almost obligated to say yes- to take advantage of this

opportunity- because honestly like where did it even come from?! An important thing

to note though is that although you may be open to seeing things that way and

try it out, those signals are sometimes very very easy to read incorrectly as

well so you do have to kind of be really careful about that. And I'm also not

saying that everything in life is like some sort of sign because it's, I mean

quite frankly in my opinion it's not. But it doesn't negate the fact that

sometimes they are. I personally just kind of felt like my Eclipse experience

it was very very special to me and it kind of encompassed these things that I

believe in so strongly so I really wanted to share it and just kind of

encourage others to be open to things, to see things in different perspectives, and

to say yes to things and new opportunities and you know not be so

scared to just let things fall into place because sometimes that's when the

most beautiful things happen is kind of when you relax, take a step back, and

trust in something bigger than yourself and just go with the flow. I appreciate

every single one of you that listened to this and I hope you can take something

away from it and I will see you guys next time.

Alien: Covenant - How Did David Create the Neomorphs? - Duration: 8:18.

Sorry about that.

I thought you were a neomorph.

Come on in!

I've just been snooping around David's laboratory.

This is where he did all of his experiments to make the creatures we see in Alien: Covenant.

Most of these bits of apparatus are pretty weird, but that's why earth sent me here

to investigate.

It takes a fellow Dave like me to decipher the research of another Dave.

In case you don't know who I am, I'm Professor Dave, and I explain science stuff.

So as we see in Alien: Covenant, the robot David decided to play god and make the perfect

organism.

He's not the first to attempt this by a longshot.

Humans made David, and those albino people we know as the engineers made humans.

So it seems like everyone is playing god these days.

But did you know that humans have been manipulating life on earth for millenia?

It's true.

To see the literal fruits of our labor, all you have to do is walk down the produce aisle

at a grocery store.

Broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, kale, and Brussels sprouts, these are not natural creations,

they are products of mankind in a very real sense.

They're all derived from Brassica Oleracea, the wild mustard plant.

This incredible diversity can be produced from a single plant species through selective

breeding.

When farmers took plants with the biggest flower clusters and cross-fertilized them,

continually, over many generations, they eventually got a completely different plant with huge

flower clusters which we know as broccoli.

Selecting for the biggest leaves or leaf buds is what gave us kale and cabbage.

Selective breeding is a form of evolution called artificial selection.

This works kind of like natural selection, except that instead of being guided by blind

chance and the pressures of survival, it's guided by the will of a sentient architect,

so it happens much faster than evolution by natural selection.

The same goes for all the breeds of dogs we know today.

A few hundred years ago, most of them didn't exist.

Dogs used to all look kind of like wolves.

But if you take a bunch of tiny dogs and make them mate, and then you take their tiniest

offspring and make them mate, and you keep doing that over and over again, you eventually

get something like a chihuahua.

This wouldn't do so well in the forest against a wolf, so we can see that the existence of

an organism like this has nothing to do with survival, it exists because humans decided

to play god.

So far, the result of humans playing god has been broccoli and chihuahuas, so it's pretty

harmless.

But David seems to have taken it a bit further.

What's most interesting about David is that his idea of artificial selection seems to

be aligned with natural selection.

He doesn't want to create the tiniest or cuddliest or most delicious organism, he wants

to create the deadliest, thus the best equipped for survival.

As to why the deadliest species is necessarily the perfect species, I can't say.

If you ask me, deliciousness is far superior to deadliness.

But David was something of a broken robot anyway.

He didn't just kill his human creators, he killed the engineers, who were his creators'

creators.

I guess he figured that if he can kill them, he must be superior to them, and thus best

suited for creating the organism that they could never achieve.

But how did he do it?

All he had was that black goo, which we call the pathogen, the body of Elizabeth Shaw,

and whatever is lying around here.

I mean, what is this stuff?

What do you do with this?

At any rate, this leaves us quite in the dark as to how David was able to generate his neomorphs.

We humans aren't quite as scientifically advanced as the engineers, but we're no

slouches when it comes to biology and genetic modification.

We know that any kind of gene splicing or manipulation on the molecular level requires

highly complex tools and machinery, and this place looks more like a medieval dungeon.

So we have to conclude that this pathogen has properties that are inconceivable to humans.

Perhaps it possesses a sentience, even if an artificial one, that allows it to infect

a host and rearrange genetic material as it sees fit.

Whatever the case may be, David's tinkering with the pathogen, various species that are

native to this planet, and the body of Elizabeth Shaw, has produced some astonishing specimens.

Naturally, David's work paints a harrowing picture for genetic modification, and these

days it seems like a lot of people look at our own genetically modified organisms with

as much contempt as they would a xenomorph.

But is this really fair?

Are GMO crops as bad as a killing machine with a bonus mouth and acid for blood?

In the end, I think fear of GMO's is just another manifestation of our natural fear

of the unknown.

But just as with the rest of science, much of what isn't known to the public is known

quite intimately to those who specialize in science.

Some hear the word chemical and immediately assign a negative connotation, whereas the

chemist knows that it's all chemicals.

We have popular culture to blame for fanning the flame of misinformation in this realm.

Glowing green ooze that turns turtles into ninjas makes for a fantastic childhood.

I was Donatello.

But it leaves people with the impression that all scientists are Davids and Dr. Frankensteins,

when in reality they're just trying to further mankind's understanding of the universe

around us.

To a biologist, artificially selecting a particular allele of a gene is not that much different

from inserting a novel gene into an organism's genome, at least not conceptually.

The technology we've developed simply allows us to do what the inventors of broccoli did,

just in a more efficient and highly directed fashion.

Make no mistake, genetic modification is a good idea, and a powerful tool.

This doesn't mean we should turn a blind eye to the behaviors of large corporations

like Weyland Corp, because large corporations will always sacrifice ethics on the altar

of profit.

But this fact should not bring about a cynicism towards science, because science is pure of

motive.

The rampant chemophobia we see today is a byproduct of a civilization whose scientific

expertise has ballooned so big so fast that most citizens have no hope of keeping up,

and the activities of the scientific elite are as mysterious to most as the illusions

of a magician.

The only difference is that science isn't magic.

It's based on what we can observe, and anyone can learn it.

If anything we've talked about today leaves you wanting more, check out my YouTube channel,

Professor Dave Explains, for tons of tutorials on biology, chemistry and biochemistry, physics,

and lots more.

I break down topics in ways that are succinct and easy to understand, and if you watch them

all, you'll have a rich and comprehensive view of everything around you.

Without this foundation of basic scientific knowledge, all you can do is repeat what you've

heard.

But there's so much misinformation out there, so it's easy to be deceived.

The powers that be use this confusion to divide us over nonsense, so that we can't unify

when it really counts.

With all these xenomorphs running around, it's a critical time.

Which side will you be on?

What evidence supports the premise that "whatever begins to exist has a cause"? - Duration: 3:59.

And, Bill, I want you to start by summarizing again for us the three premises that form

the Kalam Cosmological Argument, and explain why this simple argument is strong evidence

for God's existence.

Dr. William Lane Craig: The argument is simply formulated.

Premise one is that whatever begins to exist has a cause; number two is that the universe

began to exist; and from those two premises it follows logically, three, therefore the

universe has a cause.

And then one can analyze what it is to be a cause of the universe, and a number of theologically

striking and significant properties of this transcendent cause emerge.

Ankerberg: Yes.

Give us that first premise and the reasons supporting it.

Craig: The first premise, you remember, is "whatever begins to exist has a cause."

I think that this is almost obvious, but I give three reasons in support of this.

First reason is that something cannot come out of nothing: Out of nothing, nothing comes.

For the universe to come into being uncaused, from nothing, would be literally worse than

magic.

So if we reject magic, we should reject the idea that the universe just popped into existence

uncaused.

Now, sometimes skeptics will say, "But quantum physics allows things to come into being from

nothing.

Subatomic particles can pop into existence out of the vacuum as random fluctuations."

But, John, this is a deliberate misrepresentation of the science.

The quantum vacuum is not what the layman thinks a vacuum is.

The quantum vacuum is most emphatically not nothing.

It is a roiling sea of energy, a field of intense activity governed by physical laws.

It is not nothing.

So for people to say that these particles come into existence from nothing is simply

a distortion of the science involved.

The word "nothing" in the English language is a term of universal negation—it means

not anything.

So when we say the universe came into existence out of nothing, that does not mean that there

was something prior to the universe, and that was nothing.

No, it means that the universe did not come into existence out of anything.

And so for the universe to come into existence without a cause, from nothing, would be literally,

as I say, worse than magic.

So I think that's the first good reason for affirming premise one.

The second reason for affirming that whatever begins to exist has a cause is that if things

could come into existence uncaused, from nothing, then it becomes inexplicable why just anything

and everything doesn't come into existence uncaused, from nothing.

Why don't bicycles and root beer and Beethoven pop into existence uncaused, from nothing?

Why is it only universes that can come into being uncaused, from nothing?

So if you allow universes to do that, everything and anything should be allowed to do that.

And that obviously doesn't happen; that's false.

The third reason is that this premise, that whatever begins to exist has a cause, is universally

verified by scientific evidence and common experience and never falsified.

This is evidence that ought to appeal to the scientific naturalist.

We have the strongest inductive evidence from experience that whatever begins to exist does

have a cause.

thank you for staying tuned

we always broadcast every Sunday 11:30 pm

and repeat every Monday 10:00 am

Today we talk about the five people who were killed on December 9/2015 years ago from Kiboga District

Some one called them to settle a land dispute,

unfortunately plans were under way to kill them

This is the frame of the deceased's car they were travelling in at Kiboga Police Post

After killing them including the driver they set their vehicle on fire

Muhamed Wasswa Kasujja narrates the incident

what happened when they were setting off to Kiboga

My brother had asked me to go with them

The issue was to settle dispute with the scoters on our land in Kiboga District

and i gave him ago ahead because i was engaged with other things

The first and the second time they did not agree with them

The third time Kato returned talking about the same issue; he said the chairman had agreed with the people to pay the money we wanted

and i gave him ago ahead because i was engaged with other things but remained in contact

Around 5pm I got information that they had been killed

I recall it was the area Chairman who used to call them

i kept wondering how could the area chairman put his friends in to a trap

Some of the relatives reveal that it was the Chair man who set the 5 people to be killed

Narrate what exactly happened, what was the agenda this time?

The issue was to agree with the scoters because the first stages were already finished

Narrate what exactly happened, when they reached where the land is?

They reached on time as agreed

it is said that the killers were waiting and pilled them in one house

and served them rice before the killing

Had they communicated with the Chairman before coming to Kiboga?

Had they talked to the Chairman before?

They were communicating with for about four days

Do you still what Happened when the deceased reached Kiboga?

They reached at chairman's place

Their car was burnt a few meters from his compound

When the car entered chairman's compound, others cut the tree and blocked them

They had no way to escape

What kind of killing was it?

They killed them from the same house

They bodies were found in different places

As they were struggling not to be killed

They were scattered all over the house

Their driver was also killed from his steering

They used spears,

Pangas ,

Stones which police took as exhibits

These are the pictures of the murdered people on December 9/2015

They set off at 12pm from Nansana and by 3pm they had reached Kiboga my relatives called back that they had reached Kiboga

We kept trying their phone contacts but they were all off

Buy 5 pm we got information that they were all killed

We went to Kiboga police station and arranged for their Burial

but all the arrangements were done by the Chairman

And the murder was done frome his house

Unfortunately chairman was released and he is a free Man.

what followed after the Burial?

Chairman was the first suspect to be arrested

But unfortunately he was released and he is a free man

Am NOT okay with all the termites around here, you're right. There's a lot of them. I've never seen so many termites

Why are there too many now?

There's a lot of it doesn't mean there's too many

Yeah, the thing is we don't know why there are so many termites hmm

Maybe we should ask the art. Wolves are wolves. That's right even more than you do not

possible

So the art. Wolves keep the pride lands termites under control. That's right at least

empty aardvark dens

That's funny. We should chase Tainos out of an empty aardvark den a couple days ago uh?

Dad it was a mistake. I thought they were hyenas we all did I still do

Thanks guys, but I'm the one who used the Roar on him you

Thanks dad. We're gonna make things right I promise

Lion gir we're gonna find those art Wolf's and bring them back to the pride lands

I'm glad I had a termite snack before we left this place has none

Those poor our wolves must be getting awful hungry as soon as we get them back home

Don't you think they're still after us the lion God? Why would they be after us?

They already chased us out of the pride lands into the termite forsaken

Outlands

Sneak up on him surround him still think they're just passing by

Wow

Hell is weird wait

They're afraid of us afraid of us well. I did use the rule on them

Maybe they think we're out to get him look I see one of them right there

Guys he's running right towards a cliff. What do you think you're doing? Um maybe a little something like?

Saving your life

You want us to go back wouldn't it have been easier just to not kick us out in the first place

He's got a point there

Unger just say

You are wolves really don't get out much

Do you we still need to find the rest of your pack so we can take you all home?

Why didn't you say so in the first place, let's go

Poor Rhema Java

Maybe I'll take a peek just to be sure go going you hear what I said oh

You too, baby boy boy

Was I snoring oh never mind oh, yeah

They were delicious now that you're up time. We said hello to our new neighbors

Whatever you say dear

huh

You scared us for a second there. We thought you were the lion guard

Lion guard where but me Ray Ray made me do it you just set your minds at ease

we're the furthest thing from the lion guard believe you me and

Why exactly were you running away from the lion guard?

Well, maybe a little hind and maybe a little hair

All we're trying to say is as your new neighbors. We're gonna be such good friends, and you know what friends do

We're here for you

We know how you feel

just

Let me trade

Ain't no need to be scared job. We'd love to help you. Hi

Promise no one will find you once you're safe

Oh

No honey, we are the lucky ones

Yep, they're hiding in that cave alright. Okay, this time. We need a good plan on it

I'll go it alone. Oh, then we can all go back to the pride lands. I

Can eat unlimited termite feast?

Yeah, it's me, and I've got good news the lion guard other good guy. He thought we were ideas

Okay, no I see it anyway they want to take us back to the pride lands. No

Hold on a second. I thought we were going to have dinner here. Well. I don't know you got any termites

Oh trust me none of you are leaving this cake you think they didn't believe my jumbo. I promised we'd make things right come on

Oh, No, can you see through the crack?

He's not going anywhere

Alright ray-ray time for you to go home you betcha

Okay here we go I go I go I go

She seemed like such a good hostess until she tried to eat us yeah

Hey, buddy how you doing, I'm fine, I guess mr. Termites

How about a thank-you gift from the Art Walks

Lucky

She's never found him that quickly before our tracking skills are improving. They do seem evenly matched

I

Have a surprise for you

You're both coming with me on the trail to do goo when they're ready. Did you go on it dad?

I never had the chance I don't have a brother or sister and don't worry about your lion guard duties kion while you're gone

Maybe a bunch of animals who want to meet their future queen and her little brother little brother

I'm leader of the lager

Yes

At least you agree on that come on we have a long way to go kion usually goes this way

Is that so and is?

kion here

No sir don't worry. I'll find it. I'm a better tracker than you we'll see about that

That is definitely not the way to find you do goo

The mud will sweep the eggs off the cliff affirmative I was just about to say that we'll have to act fast

I'll move the log so it diverts the mud away from the nest

What should we do for walk to run jump from rock to rock?

Usually Cayenne just hasn't been run through the money. Yeah, but it's not in charge right now

There that should do the trick I got this

Good thinking big feet now alongs not gonna roll over the ends, but the log was protecting the eggs from the mud

Ostriches your eggs are safe

Thank you your majesty

Thank you to think our race were

personally saved by the king

Is this really the drill you Jew who it is if you tell us?

Where odubel is I bet I can find an easier path?

There is no easy path to Dooku of course not over the thorns is the way to go I?

Don't think either of you is understanding me

The trail to to do that was so exciting your first rescue with the king I

wonder what our next challenge will be

He's gotta know what he's doing

Doesn't he maybe we just need to do it more symbols way everyone

Think it sounds like as elves need our help

Kion

Nothing over here, how could she just disappear?

If we knew where this you do good place was maybe we could meet her there or we could track her

What they just stop right here heyvi kabisa where did not go

The rocks will fall if the gazelles jump on them lion guard follow me

Should we remind him how easily gazelle spook when they're surprised?

They're spooked now we really need to hurry lion guard follow me

Are you alright, I'm okay just a little stuck

This can't be right mom please just ready 1 2

Not even close

If mom could get up there we can too and they drew this

You're the better truck. I won't argue that though you're the one who saw the tracks and figured out mom jumped

Mom

Why'd you disappear?

I thought you were gonna show us the way to Abdul boo-boo Dooku is another word for kinship

Does the special bond between siblings?

You found do Dooku when you decided to work together to look for me

I'll be fine you need to hurry

All day I've been telling you to follow me and do what I do, but that's not how your team works

So tell me if kyon were here till the pride Lands End

Now what were you saying oh no?

Never mind if you let the bull to rule the wrong way, it'll squish him Bunga you know I can hear you right ah

Sure, I knew that

That was

Unbelievable

So everyone how was your journey?

Did you find ado goo we found it, but it's not really a place. It's about us working together is for you, too

Stall, Spin, engine failure | PPL on FSX - Duration: 4:46.

First Stall without flap, in the axis.

I reduce the engine power to the minimum.

I maintain the attitude to not go down.

My speed starts to drop, do not panic it's FSX :)

Alarm 10 km / h before stalling.

The plane shakes and fall forward.

In reality we have to keep the ball in the middle because it's dangerous.

Slow Pull back stick ( initial attitude ).

We have lost 400 ft. So fatal in landing step.

Atmosphere !!

Now stall in the line with full flaps.

Motor power at least we keep the axis with the feet.

And then the plane falls slowly. It is said that parachute.

Of course it depends on the planes ....

Full pull back stick but the plane remains constant descent.

It is a technique that can be used with great caution if we are too high during the landing.

We return flaps gently (not like there) because there is still risk of stall again.

ATMOSPHERE !!

FL010 is 10,000 ft (3000 m)

Now the Spin !

The power is reduced. Even preparing the stall.

Without flap.

up to left foot (rudder).

Let go all control. We no longer touch anything.

1

2

3

3.5 spins

Great caution to the speed and the load factor!

We lost 1,900 ft.

Atmosphere ... -_- "

Even excercise with recovery orders to stop the spin.

up to left foot.

right foot quickly.

1

1.5 spin.

We lost 1,200 ft.

BIG ATMOSPHERE !!

Mixture cut fuel.

The motor stops

Dont panic. it is FSX. It is now that we must train!

I just position myself parallel to the runway. Keeping the best gliding speed.

The track should be a little before the wing Tip.

Is rotated approximately 30 ° inclination.

Flaps if needed. We must be sure to get the runway.

Axis, plane, speed.

The propeller continues to turn a little because of the relative wind.

Speed control. Slow down.

And atmospheeere !

I'm All In! How to Increase YouTube Views Exponentially with a Double-Down Approach - Duration: 5:26.

We all want our YouTube channels to grow right, but how do we get them to grow like this?

Let's take a look

Welcome back to vidIQ everyone, the YouTube tool and channel that aims to help you get

more views in less time and one way to down that if through the art of doubling down.

And to illustrate what we mean we're going to use some of these... never been able to

do that.

Video making always comes with two costs: time and energy which are limited.

So there's always a gamble being placed, am I spending my time and energy on the right

videos?

And when you start a YouTube channel you're never sure where to make that bet.

You know you want to make videos about politics or sport or tech but finding your specific

niche takes time.

We call this the YouTube Hustle.

Thousands of video creators all working their butts off looking for gold.

And then on the fifth, twentieth or even hundredth video you notice a small spike in your views,

watchtime and engagement.

Whether your channel is big or small on some scale this always happens.

You land on a video topic that gains tractions and the first thing you should be doing is

checking your watchtime analytics to discover that spike.

Those numbers will likely come from one or two videos which far outstrip anything else

on your channel.

So remember the specific topic of that video.

I know it might be about tech and I know it might be about mobile phones, but it was specifically

about how to record your screen.

A very specific subject.

The next thing to check are your traffic sources.

If it's dominated by Youtube search and suggested videos that means you're doing something right.

Check the search terms to see how viewers are finding your videos then check suggested

videos to to see what content pushed viewers to your videos.

There will be a wealth of information here on video tags that should be forming the basis

of your video content.

For an even deeper analytic approach vidIQ offers the keyword research tool to help find

related keywords and how competitive they are, and we have our bulk SEO feature which

shows not only how often your current video tags lead to views but also views from search

terms you don't even use.

Very useful for optimizating your tags and deciding what content to produce next.

Of course one or two successful videos cannot sustain a channel forever and you may run

the risk of being a one hit wonder so this is where you need to follow the natural flow

of your channel.

If YouTube is telling you a specific video on a specific piece of content significantly

increased discoverability, watchtime and engagement, drop every other video project your have and

double down, throw all the resources you have into follow up content.

Any angle, alternative viewpoint or additional information you can provide is worth following

up on.

You might worry about over milking a topic and irritating your current audience and subscriber

but look at it from this perspective

Go to your analytics are sort by subscriber-only views or watchtime and you will discover that

they often represent a small proportion of your overall audience.

So on the one hand you have a tiny subscriber base who might enjoy what you do next versus

the whole of YouTube which has picked you out as an authority on a particular topic.

The choice seems clear, let's take a look at some examples.

About a year ago YouTube's analaytics told me that any video I make on how to record

iPhone screens performed well.

As a result I shifted 90% of my content to that one topic.

Now I utterly dominate this niche area and my channel has grown from around 25,000 subscribers

to 85,000 subscribers.

Want another example, try this.

Search YouTube for how big is, you'll find one video creator who dominates this page

with millions of views per video.

The channel's called Cold Fusion and three years ago he decided to make a video on how

big is Google, to date that video has racked up three million views and while his other

video may get tens of thousands of views, the how big series always get hundreds of

thousands of views, sometimes millions.

Want another example?

Six months ago we did a case study on how a channel with less than 10 thousands subscribers

produced a video on the movie trailer IT that generated over two million views.

I bet you can guess what they did next.

Not only did they double down, but they quadrupled down for grand total of 9 million views.

If you adopt this strategy you'll soon discover the potential of that first hit, exceed it

and grow exponentially.

So some vidIQ homework to take away from this video.

Go through your analytics and see which are you most popular videos and the double down

on them, no matter what the topic or how old the video is give it a try and see what happens.

And the question of the day is: have you ever doubled down on a video to massive success,

share you experiences in the comments below.

And that's it for this video, I hope you enjoyed it, if you did don't forget to give us a thumbs

up and for more video tips, tricks and guides, subscribe to vidIQ.

Enjoy the rest of your video making day, bye the now.

Tom Bileyu inspired show on LVJ's SUCCESS! - Duration: 4:39.

success does not lie in what you are able to get it is in what you are able

to give because of who you have become best wife every year Liberty V Justice

reminding you that you are worth it Valez mucho Tom Bilyeu this episode

is dedicated to you thank you so much for this episode of Impact Theory that

aired on the 20th of October just a couple days ago and it's called how to

get to the next level so I was listening to this and I thank you so much Tom

because you were talking about building our brand and our business and somebody

has asked the question about you know how to build a brand and you know what

should we do blah blah and you said that we should save six months worth of

living expenses so that when we do go to build our business and everything we can

go at it hard and we don't have to answer to anybody we don't have to beg

when we don't have to lie or placate or be a people pleaser and but we can be

transparent just because we have that money well here's the thing and we can

ask for our needs but here's the thing I find that the opposite is true for me I

had a little bit of money saved up and I still save a tiny bit every month I I am

a veteran and so I get in veterans you know disability check that you get when

you're not working but since I am working I know one thing like Will Smith

said the harder I work the luckier I get and I know what's gonna happen because

I'm never going to give up ever ever you know like you said ask yourself what who

do you want to be and what are you willing to give up for your dream and

I'm willing to give up mostly everything so I pride money I give every month

because I know that God is blessing me and when I give that's living and that's

my whole point of living and that's my whole point of becoming a better speaker

and my you know getting my youtube channel getting paid for that and all

the things that I want to do is about giving so God knows that later on he can

trust me with it so I want to thank you for that question

Tom because you know it's just like I've mule that I am like you said Kobe Bryant

well you said that Kobe Bryant he was playing this guy and they were

practicing and you know Kobe practiced long after this guy left and after he

went and Kobe won the game and the guy said why did you practice so long in the

morning and he said I wanted you to know that I was willing to outwork you so

that's it if you want to win the game the game of life whatever game it is

that you at the time you will have to work very very hard outwork everybody

else Will Smith says the same thing I thank you so much Tom, I thank you Will

Smith and yeah everything's on the line now and so i want to give and for me the

biggest thing that I am able to give yeah my restaurant where Igive free

gluten free food to everybody nationwide of yes that's great but the biggest

thing is is a leader a loving leader that has this example of having this

hunger and working so hard and finally achieving my goals and my dreams so that

i can be that example to other people to say hey look somebody did it you know

and now because i did it you can do it that's my whole point of my life you

know when I was down when I was the underdog

and and I came up and I when it was the hardest I did everything giving money

when it was the hardest you know all the things becoming healthier you know

staying in shape and just getting bigger muscles and all that stuff

those are the things that I want to impart if I can do it now and my hardest

time you can do it that's my whole thing so thank you so much Tom for that

awesome answer you always have good stuff it's like it's hard for me not to

listen to you and you know do my own thing sometimes because you're so

amazing so thank you so much and I just want to say everybody out there just

remember where I said you are worth it you can do anything you want to do okay

Vales mucho thank you oh like subscribe and comment and one more thing

success is not in the material things that you

are able to get it lies in what you are able to give because of who you have

become thank you you are worth it

Ask Me Anything: Fashion Design Tutorial | Fashion Illustration Tutorial - Duration: 4:15.

Hey, guys!!

Welcome back!!

For those of you who are new to my channel, welcome welcome, I'm Karen, I'm a fashion

designer, fashion illustrator, and surface pattern designer.

And I design, illustrate, and teach over FSBS.com, here in my channel, and over my portfolio

site imkarenavila.com

Okay, today's video is a short one because I'm introducing a new section, and I'm

asking you only one question, which is:

What are your burning questions regarding fashion design, fashion illustration, and/or

surface pattern design?

I have almost ten years working as a fashion creative, designing and illustrating.

You know I taught myself everything I know about fashion design, fashion illustration,

and surface pattern design, with the help of all the books I could afford when

I started out (which weren't that many) plus lots of practice.

And I didn't have any mentor or anyone who could help me clarify my doubts or guide me

in any way.

So, I know how lonely and frustrating it can be to have tons and tons of questions and

no one to answer them.

And that's why I wanted to create this section, which is called ASKaren.

I want you to feel heard and I want you to get all your questions answered so you feel

confident to move forward and move towards your dreams.

It'll be like we're in your favorite coffee shop having your fave beverage, or at least

I hope so.

Okay, so today's homework for you is to:

List each and every single question you have.

Every doubt.

And every struggle you're having regarding fashion design, fashion illustration, and/or

surface pattern design.

Then, write them down below in the comments section.

And hit the 'comment' button.

Feel free to ask absolutely anything, there's no dumb question, and I'll answer all the

questions as I'm getting them.

I'll try to respond first on my Insta Stories so you can get your answer as soon as possible,

so make sure you follow me, but if you don't catch it I'll publish the video here on

my channel and on my blog.

Great, before you go, I want to invite you to download my Fashion Illustration Tool-Kit,

which is a handy PDF with all the tools I use to create my fashion illustrations and

designs.

And also, if you're new to fashion drawing and drawing fashion figures, I have some free

preview lesson from my course Drawing Fashion figures and Faces.

You can find both links on the cards from the right and below in the description box.

Well, that's it for today, thank you so much for watching, make sure you tell me in

the comments all your questions and,

If you liked the idea of this new section: Give it a thumbs up

Subscribe to this channel so you don't miss any of the future videos.

And share this video with your friends!

Especially those who have burning questions about fashion design, fashion illustration,

and surface pattern design!

See you on the next video….

Bye!!

What Is Sea Level, Anyway? - Duration: 2:58.

Welcome to Calipatria, a desert town near California's Salton Sea.

This is the city with the lowest elevation in the western hemisphere,

55 metres below sea level.

And here, we've also got a visual demonstration of just what that means:

because that white spindly thing is a flagpole,

and the American flag up at the top is flying above sea level.

If it wasn't for all the mountains and hills between here and the Pacific Ocean,

then we'd be wet, but that flag would stay dry.

Maybe.

We're dry because no rivers drain into this basin.

The Salton Sea over there only exists because some engineers screwed up in 1905

and diverted a good bit of the Colorado River in there for a couple of years.

That water is steadily getting saltier and more polluted as it slowly evaporates,

and California's got to deal with that over the next couple of decades.

But how do we know we're 55 metres below sea level?

What is sea level?

In theory, it is the average height of the sea around the Earth.

But there are some problems with that.

Problem 1: the Earth isn't a sphere.

I mean, it's vaguely a sphere, don't get too excited, Flat-Earthers.

It's a bit squashed.

The force of its own spin makes it bulge by a few kilometres around the equator.

And when you're defining height above sea level in metres, that's a lot.

So geographers solved that by defining the Earth as an oblate spheroid.

Basically a smooth squashed sphere, just in fairly precise mathematical terms.

But then there's problem 2: the Earth isn't one uniform lump of rock.

Bits of the mantle are more dense than others,

so gravity isn't quite the same everywhere on Earth's surface.

Which means there's a bit more water sitting over those bits.

And by a bit more, I mean anything up to 80 metres more.

These aren't small amounts,

that could be the difference between this city being above and below sea level.

And to complicate things even more,

mountains are big enough that their gravity attracts the ocean, just a little.

So during the 20th century,

as scientists and Cold War governments started to need a global reference system

for spacecraft, and missiles, which were basically the same thing back then,

they spent a long time measuring Earth's gravity.

The result is the Earth Gravitational Model, megabytes in size,

which asks, in purely mathematical terms:

if this land wasn't here, but its gravity was,

and if there was exactly enough water to fill in the gaps...

where would all that water sit?

And how far away would it be from that theoretical smooth squashed sphere?

The model was finished in 1996.

It is available to this day on a web site that seems unchanged since 1996,

and it's what your phone and GPS use.

There are more recent, more precise models, but they are hundreds of megabytes in size,

and everyone's agreed that now we've got a standard,

let's not change it and confuse everyone.

Also, we'd also have to update for sea level rise,

whether it's best-case centimetres or worst-case metres.

So saying we're "55 metres below sea level" is mostly just symbolic.

But so are many things in the world,

and I'd like to think we still put some trust in them.

Ireland Travel Guide 2018- (5 FUN Things You NEED TO DO !) - Duration: 3:51.

What's up members of the Barrio

And after an incredible trip to Ireland

I'm here to give you the low down on 5 fun things

You've got to try on your next visit to the Emerald Isle

Now if you're new here I do want to make sure that you're subscribed

And have notifications turned on so you don't miss out

On any of my upcoming travel series

Before I get started I do want to note that almost all of these adventures

Were covered on my Ireland playlist

And i'm going to be linking to it down below

In the description

Let's get started with number 5

And while everybody knows about the Guinness storehouse

In Dublin

And I do recommend you drink some Guinness when you are in Ireland

If you want to try something a little bit different

Why don't you hit up the Irish Whiskey Museum

If you're into history

And want a hands on experience

Look no further

The groups are small

And your tour guide is likely to be not only informative

But probably pretty entertaining

He sits up, sees his wife there

Staring at him

Says, ahh shite

And lays right back down again.

You hop around to a few rooms and see some really great video content

And of course you get to try some whiskey

And I know that's the real reason you're visiting the museum anyway

I recommend you do the 20 euro premium tour

You get to try a little bit of extra whiskey

Trust me it's worth it

Moving on to number 4

Bike the Waterford Greenway

Now this is new it only opened in March 2017

And I bet you most of your friends haven't been there

This is an incredible way to see the Ancient East of Ireland

It's a 46 kilometer ride on an old railway line

Linking Waterford to Dungarvan

Although you can begin in the middle like we did

If you want to get close to nature

And get a taste of Ireland's beauty

This is a great place to start

We even found fair doors along the way

Number 3, caving in Doolin

We did this one with a great company called Epic Ireland

I highly recommend these guys

Because believe me when you're crawling

Around a cave

You want to be in good hands

I honestly can't believe I tried this activity

But it's a great thing to do

If you're slim

You'll have a huge advantage

You're going to need to climb as well.

But to me it was a bucket list activity

And a great way to challenge yourself

While you're traveling.

I somehow made it through there

Barely but I made it

Number 2

Visit Killarney national park

This was the first National Park in all of Ireland

And reason alone to put Killarney

On your Ireland Itinerary

How many national parks do you know of that have a castle?

There's also plenty of activities

Like Kayaking under bridges

And hiking to keep you busy

And if you're a fan of architecture

You also won't be dissapointed

My number one fun thing to do on your next trip

Explore Connemara

Now I recommend you visit Galway first

And then head west

To one of the most beautiful regions

Of Ireland

One great way to experience the beauty of the area is

To go canyoning

This is going to involve you scrambling through a river

We also did this with Epic Ireland

And it's a heck of a fun morning

That water was very very cold.

Driving through Connemara you're likely to see more sheep

Then people

And that's not necessarily a bad thing

If you're seeking peace and quiet

There's even an incredible beach

If I had to do my trip over again

I would head to Connemara for a couple of extra days

Just to escape the hustle and bustle of the world

It really is an amazing place to go

If you're planning on visiting Ireland

I hope that this list gives you some ideas

Or at least a starting point

Definitley check out my Ireland playlist

Which I am linking to down below

And certainly subscribe to Here Be Barr

For more travel adventures and tips videos

From around the world

I have a big announcement coming up

I'm going to be traveling somewhere on a long term trip

Guys thank you so much for watching

Leave me a comment.

Until next time.

Halloween week 2017: D.I.Y. Rag Doll Costume - Costume da bambola di pezza fai da te - Duration: 13:51.

>> Hi from the killer doll and welcome or welcome back to my channel

as you can see today I have a very different look

because this whole week will be Halloween themed

both here on my Youtube channel and on my blog

which means there will be 2 themed videos, this one

and the one on friday as usual

and on wednesday and friday on my blog you'll find

an Halloween themed handmade card

and of course some Halloween themed accessories

so welcome to the Halloween week!

Let's start with the first video, the one you are watching

in which I will show you how to make this D.I.Y. rag doll costume

which means maximum-bangs-for-your-bucks

I will infact show you how to create a wool wig

how to do your doll make up

and which clothes to use to complete the look

If you are ready let's get going and here is what you'll need to make your wool wig

some wool in the color you prefer,

some matching thread,

a needle,

some matching felt,

a comb

and scissors.

First of all we need to figure out the right size for the wig, so

let's measure the distance between our forehead and the back of the head

by laying the felt on our head or by using a measuring tape

then let's cut a stripe of felt in the right length and at least 4cm wide

Perfect, now let's put the felt aside and let's grab the wool

let's decide how long we want our fake hair to be

I estimated 1 meter

and let's start rolling the wool until we'll end up with a thick skein

Now we need to lay the wool on top of the felt stripe

and let's spread it so that it will fully cover the felt, like so.

Brilliant, now let's secure the wool to the felt by sewing it like so.

let's keep sewing, making sure that all the wool has been secured,

until we'll reach the end of the felt stripe.

then let's do the same the other way around

Once we reach the end let's secure everything with a knot and let's cut the exceeding bit.

Ok, now let's lay the wig on the back of a chair

and let's even out the ends like so.

then let's do the same on the other side too.

Et voilà, done!

Let's move on by sewing the comb on the inside of the wig

so that we can secure it to our hair when we'll wear it.

I decided to add bangs, so I created a shorter skein, around 50 cm long

I layed it in front of the wig

and I secured it by sewing in the middle, just like so

To finish up I trimmed the excess

and I wore the wig in order to style it in the desired way, I went for braids.

Perfect, now that the wig is done we can move on to make up

as you will see it's going to be an easy make up, as I'm by no means a make up artist

I will show you what I did step by step, which products I used, so let's jump into it!

Here we are, my bare face can be considered an Halloween mask by itself,

anyway now let's try to turn it into a doll's face starting with the primer

which will help us get an even base

I used the Fenty beauty primer because it's very lightweight

now that we prepped the face, let's prep the eyes too by applying some primer

mine is by Laura Mercier

Now let's cover the dark circles and imperfections with a concealer

I used the Too Faced Born this way one because it offers an amazing coverage

You know what's coming next, the foundation

let's use the lightest and most covering one we own

I went of the Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage foundation

let's blend it in with a Beauty Blender

and let's apply it over our lips and down the neck too to avoid harsch lines

Great, now we look like a ghost, but don't worry

and let's move on by adding some powder, mine is by Laura Mercier

It's time to take care of the eyes

we'll go for a simple look, I used the Urban Decay Naked Heat palette because it's my favourite at the moment

let's apply a neutral shade all over the lid to create a good base

then using a blending brush let's apply a more intense shade in the crease like so.

and let's apply it under the eye too.

as last step let's apply a brighter shade in the center of the lid

and under the brow bone.

Ok, now let's move to the brows, which I defined using Benefit Goof Proof Brow pen as I do every day

To create the rag doll big eyes let's use an eyeliner

mine is Kat Von D Tattoo liner

let's apply it as we would normally do on the lash line

and then let's drag it to draw some fake lashes on the lid like so

then let's draw some fake lashes under the eye too, like so.

Here is the result!

It's time to apply mascara, choose the most volumizing you have, I went for Maybelline Lash Sensational

Then let's finish up the eye make up by adding some clear eye pencil on the lower water line

to make the eyes look even wider.

oook, let's move to the lips

using a red lip pencil, mine is by Rimmel, let's draw the lips, by enhancing the cupid's bow

and keeping the outline tighter at the ends, like so.

Now let's apply a red lipstick, mine is by L'Oreal

and let's use the same lipstick as a blush by applying it on the cheeks

and blending it out with a brush in order to create the rag doll blushed cheeks

As last detail I decided to draw some frekles using Kat Von D Ink Liner in brown

Et voilà, the make up is done!

Perfect, we have our wig, the make up is done, now we just need to choose the right outfit to complete the look

as you can see I went for a black and white striped t-shirt,

I added a bright bow, a simple black skirt dungaree which I had in my wardrobe

some black and white striped tights, which really do add to the look

if you don't own any, you can either buy them online or go for some plain tights in a bright color

Choose some shoes that go with the look, flats are ok, or some weirder ones like I did

and if you want you can add some hair accessories, like this bow I used, or some fake flowers

Et voilà, we reached the end of this video

as usual I hope you liked the idea

if so don't forget to give this video a thumbs up so that I will know it

I also remind you that on my blog you'll find more pictures of the finished costume

with the supplies list and the link to my blog post is in the downbar

In the downbar you'll also find the link to my blog, if you haven't yet subscribe

in order not t miss the 2 Halloween themed posts on wednesday and thrusday

and of course on friday come back for the last video of the series

so if you are not subscribed to my channel do it now

Ok, we really reached the end now, as usual I send you a big kiss,

the killer doll is signing off, happy Halloween to you all and I'll see you in my next one!

Top 5 Poison Type Pokemon - Duration: 4:38.

I know what you're thinking Top 5's how original is that?!

Well I got only one thing to say to that!

Shut the hell up!

Honestly I've always found them to be kinda boring, but I'm looking to bring in new ideas.

Is this video one of those new ideas, nope sadly its not.

I'm just another cog in the wheel.

Now let's get into this list!

So...I've decided to do poison type Pokemon.

Why?

Again who knows I haven't seen too many lists on them so why not.

Hmm...There's only 64 of them, that's not a lot to choose from.

Let's get some things out of the way first this list will exclude starter Pokemon like

Bulbasaur and the Ultra Beast Nihilego because I think they deserve their own lists.

Now before you b*tch in the comments!

These are my choices, but I know everyone has their own opinion so leave your's down

below.

And why you're doing that how about maybe subscribing?!

Bringing up the rear is Skuntank, get it.

Hahahaha...Well I thought it was funny.

Screw you that was funny I don't care what you think.

Skuntank is known for its noxious fluid which smells dreadful.

It can spray this fluid over 160 feet, and the longer it allows the liquid to ferment

within its body, the more powerful the smell.

Arceus help me that sounds so disgusting.

I could make a skeet skeet joke, but it would be highly inappropiate.

Hmm...I had to choose between Arbok and Seviper for this one.

I went with Arbok because being a Genwunner I'm just more drawn to the Generation 1 designs.

Another reason I picked Arbok was because Jessie had one in the anime, I know she had

a Seviper too, but the original run of Pokemon series was my favorite.

Just seeing this thing gave me the creeps.

I kept having nightmares about snakes coiling around me and biting me with their poison.

I seen Anaconda and Snakes on a Planes.

Cash me outside!

Just like with Arbok, Weezing is on the list because of the Pokemon anime.

Another reason Weezing is on the list is because of air pollution.

It mixes its gases by inflating one head and deflating the other.

What?!

When its gases mix, Weezing becomes more toxic and putrid.

Weezing can hover in midair, presumably due to gases lighter than air.

Take a whiff of this!

I know you tryna get high!

Inhale, Exhale, Inhale, Exhale!

Ahhh my Johto days...I remember fondly traveling around Mahogany Town getting ready to take

on that decript old gym leader, Pryce when my Golbat finally evolved.

I was like what the hell?

At the time I had no clue that Golbat evolved with friendship.

Sh*t it still doesn't really make sense I understand Chansey and Eevee evolving with

friendship, but Golbat?

Huh?!

Oh right I'm supposed to be talking about poison.

I taught it Sludge Bomb?

C'mon who would be number one other than Salazzle.

Simply the baddest!

One thing that made me love Salazzle was that its a female-only species.

Honeys all around.

Not only that it uses pheromones to create a reverse harem with the male Salandit it

lives with.

If only it was an actually useful Pokemon.

Wait on second thought Salazzle sounds like a thought!

I'm on team M.O.B.

Money Over B*tches!

That's it my list is complete is it the same as yours?

Don't start I know I didn't list Vileplume or Roserade, but I feel they are more grass-type

Pokemon.

The only Pokemon I felt iffy about leaving off was Nidoking, but at the end of the day

I liked all these Pokemon a bit more.

Who knows maybe my feelings will change I can be a fickle guy.

Enough wasting time its your boy SoundProof signing off!

Peace!
