Youtube daily report Feb 8 2017

DURING DONALD TRUMP'S INTERVIEW WITH BILL O'REILLY HE

SPECIFICALLY ADDRESSED THE ISSUE OF SO-CALLED SANCTUARY CITIES

AND HOW HE PLANS ON GOING AFTER

THEM BY CUTTING FEDERAL FUNDING IF THEY DON'T ABIDE BY HIS RULES

OF GOING AFTER UNDOCUMENTED

IMMIGRANTS.

CALIFORNIA HAS RESISTED SOME OF DONALD TRUMP'S

POLICIES AND THEY SPECIFICALLY PLAN ON RESISTING SOME OF HIS

IDEAS WHEN IT COMES TO

UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS.

APPARENTLY A NUMBER OF LAWMAKERS

HAVE PUSHED BACK AGAINST ENDING SANCTUARY CITIES.

BY ACTUALLY

MAKING CALIFORNIA A SANCTUARY STATE FOR UNDOCUMENTED

IMMIGRANTS.

I WILL GET TO THAT, BUT BEFORE I DO SO TAKE A LOOK AT DONALD

TRUMP'S TOUGH TALK WHEN IT COMES TO CALIFORNIA.

PLEASE TELL ME WE HAVE THE VIDEO.

>> THAT IS LIKE A TED TALK, BUT TOUGH.

>> WE DON'T HAVE THE VIDEO BECAUSE I HAVE TO MICROMANAGE

AND MAKE SURE THAT EVERYTHING

GETS DONE.

>> CALIFORNIA IN MANY WAYS IS OUT OF CONTROL.

>> ESSENTIALLY HE SAID THAT CALIFORNIA IS OUT OF CONTROL AND

IF WE DON'T ABIDE BY HIS RULES HE WILL CUT FEDERAL FUNDING TO

THE STATE.

SO THAT'S THE PLAN.

SO SEVERAL LAWMAKERS INCLUDING

LOS ANGELES MAYOR ERIC GARCETTI SAID NO, WE ARE NOT GOING TO

LISTEN TO HIM.

WE ARE GOING TO

MAKE THIS A SANCTUARY STATE.

SOME PEOPLE MIGHT THINK THIS IS

RISKY.

CALIFORNIA CAN'T REALLY STAND TO LOSE FEDERAL FUNDING

AND WE KNOW DONALD TRUMP FOLLOWS THROUGH ON SOME OF THE CRAZY

THINGS HE PROMISES TO DO.

THE REALITY IS THAT UNDOCUMENTED

IMMIGRANTS ACTUALLY PLAY A HUGE

ROLE IN THE ECONOMY HERE.

THE LAWMAKERS ARE BANKING ON THE

IDEA THAT IT WOULD BE AGAINST THE CONSTITUTION FOR DONALD

TRUMP TO JUST PULL ALL FEDERAL

FUNDING FROM THE STATE.

I DON'T KNOW IF THEY HAVE A LEG TO STAND

ON IF IT COMES TO THAT CLAIM.

IF YOU LOOK AT THE IMPACT OF THAT

UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS HAVE

HERE IN CALIFORNIA IS PRETTY SIGNIFICANT.

LET'S GO TO GRAPHIC

NUMBER NINE.

IF WE AGGRESSIVELY GO AFTER UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS

IT ACTUALLY COULD NEGATIVELY IMPACT THE ECONOMY HERE IN

CALIFORNIA.

WHAT PEOPLE DON'T

REALIZE IS THAT IT WOULD IMPACT THE ECONOMY OF THE UNITED STATES

AS WELL.

JUMP IN.

>> WHY DID YOU LOOK AT ME LIKE THAT?

>>BECAUSE

YOU ARE NODDING SO I THOUGHT YOU WANTED TO SAY SOMETHING.

>> NO, I WAS AGREEING TO EVERYTHING YOU WERE SAYING.

THE

FEDERAL FUNDING IS $68 BILLION, I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THAT

UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS ACTUALLY CONTRIBUTED.

I KNOW THEY

CONTRIBUTE HEAVILY TO SOCIETY AND IRONICALLY IT IS ONE OF THE

TALKING POINTS AGAINST

UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS.

NO THEY ACTUALLY CONTRIBUTE MORE TO SOCIETY THAN THEY TAKE,

ASSHOLE.

>> ALSO IN CALIFORNIA WE HAVE A PRETTY HIGH SALES TAX.

SO THEY

DO PAY TAXES IN THE FORM OF

SALES TAX.

IN A LOT OF CASES THEY WORK UNDER A SOCIAL

SECURITY NUMBER THAT ISN'T THEIRS, THEY ACTUALLY CONTRIBUTE

MONEY TO THE SYSTEM THEY NEVER

GET TO BENEFIT FROM.

SO THEY ARE NOT GOING TO GET THOSE BENEFITS LATER ON THOUGHT

>>BUT I DO SEE THE OTHER SIDE AS WELL.

THIS IS A COMPETENT ISSUE

AND YOU CAN'T SAY OKAY LET'S ALLOW EVERYONE TO COME INTO THE

COUNTRY AS WELL.

THERE IS A LOT OF MISINFORMATION ABOUT

SANCTUARY CITIES IT ANNOYS ME.

A LOT OF PEOPLE ASSUME

UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS COME

HERE TO RAPE AND PILLAGE PEOPLE.

THEY DON'T THINK ABOUT WHY THESE

PEOPLE ARE CROSSING THE BORDER THROUGH SUCH TREACHEROUS

CONDITIONS TO FIND A BETTER LIFE

FOR THEMSELVES.

>> THAT IS A GOOD POINT.

WHEN WE HEAR FROM THE OTHER SIDE THE

NEGATIVES IT'S NOT ABOUT THE

ECONOMIC CONTRIBUTIONS THAT UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS ARE

MAKING.

WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT IS CRIME.

I THINK AN

IMPORTANT THING THAT THE RIGHT IS GOING TO BRING UP IS THE CASE

OF KATE STEINLE IN 2015 WHICH WAS SHE WAS TRAGICALLY MURDERED

BY AN UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANT AND

THIS HAPPENED IN SAN FRANCISCO.

FOLLOWING THIS THERE WERE

THREATS, NOT FROM THE PRESIDENT, THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE.

CALIFORNIA IS FAMILIAR WITH THIS.

NEED TO BE AWARE THAT THIS

IS WHAT THE RIGHT BRINGS UP.

THEY USE CASES LIKE CATE'S, THEY

PAINT AN ENTIRE POPULATION AS

DANGEROUS.

LET'S TALK ABOUT THE ENTIRETY OF THE SANCTUARY CITIES AND WHAT

IS GOING ON HERE.

>> YOU BRING UP A GOOD POINT AND I DO WANT TO TOUCH ON WHAT THE

REALITY IS REGARDING SANCTUARY CITIES AND THE CRIME RATES IN

THESE CITIES.

OF COURSE THE FEAR MONGERING ABOUT IMMIGRATION WILL

ESSENTIALLY TELL YOU IT IS DANGEROUS, THEY ARE CRIMINALS

AND RAPISTS.

THAT IS ONE OF THE REASONS WHY WE NEED TO DO AWAY

WITH UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS.

ACCORDING TO FBI DATA LOOKING

INTO SANCTUARY CITIES, CRIME IS

NOT HIGHER.

IN A LOT OF CASES IT IS LOWER.

THERE IS A HUGE

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ANECDOTES AND ACTUAL TRENDS.

I THINK ONE OF

THE BIGGEST ISSUES WE HAVE HERE

IN THE US IS THAT THE ELECTORATE WILL MISTAKE SINGLE STORIES OR

ANECDOTES AS A DEPICTION OF A BROADER ISSUE.

AND THAT IS NOT

THE CASE.

AGAIN THIS DATA COMES FROM THE FBI.

IT IS NOT TRUE

THAT SANCTUARY CITIES ARE LESS

SAFE.

THAT IS POINT NUMBER ONE.

POINT NUMBER TWO DOES HAVE TO DO

WITH THE ECONOMY.

I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND, WE CAN'T JUST OPEN

OUR BORDERS AND SAY EVERYONE

COME IN.

YOU HAVE TO HAVE RULES AND REGULATIONS, THAT IS FAIR.

BUT AT THE SAME TIME I THINK WE DON'T GET TO THE PART OF THE

DISCUSSION THAT ADDRESSES THE ECONOMIC CONTRIBUTIONS OF

UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS.

IT'S A MUCH MORE NUANCED THAN WHAT THE

ADMINISTRATION WILL HAVE YOU

BELIEVE.

IT'S NOT AS CUT AND DRY.

THERE ARE A LOT OF

INDUSTRIES THAT WOULD SUFFER IF

WE DID THAT.

THERE IS A GREAT PIECE DONE REGARDING OUR

AGRICULTURE.

IN VARIOUS STATES, LAWMAKERS PENALIZED THE FARM

OWNERS TO KEEP EMPLOYING

UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS.

SO THE FARM OWNERS SAID THEY DIDN'T

WANT TO DEAL WITH THE PENALTIES

AND BREAKING THE LAW, SO THEY FIRED THE UNDOCUMENTED

IMMIGRANTS AND HIRED AMERICAN FARMERS.

THEY HAD A REALLY HARD

TIME HIRING FARMERS.

THAN THEY REALIZED THEY PROBABLY HAVE TO

PAY THEM MORE.

IN SOME STATES, I BELIEVE OREGON IS ONE OF THEM,

THEY DECIDED TO INCREASE WAGES

TO $15 AN HOUR.

AND THEY STILL COULDN'T FIND PEOPLE WHO ARE

WILLING TO DO THE WORK.

I'M NOT SAYING NO AMERICAN WANTS TO DO

FARMING.

BUT IT WAS INTERESTING TO SEE THIS SPECIFIC INDUSTRY

EXPERIENCE NEGATIVE RAMIFICATIONS OF THESE

ANTI-IMMIGRATION LAWS.

>> I DON'T MEAN TO FEARMONGER, BUT WHAT I AM TERRIFIED OF IS

THE DEPORTATION CENTERS AND HOW

THEY WILL START UTILIZING THEM.

THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WAS

HAPPENING UNDER OBAMA AS WELL,

IT'S NOT NEW.

THEY DO TAKE AWAY UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS AND SEND

THEM TO DEPORTATION CENTERS WHERE THEY HAVE TO WORK FOR

FREE.

IT'S ESSENTIALLY FREE LABOR BECAUSE IT'S NOT PROTECTED

IN THE CONSTITUTION.

IT'S REALLY INHUMANE AND IMMORAL THAT WE

STILL DO IT.

COMPANIES EVEN LIKE WHOLE FOODS TAKE ADVANTAGE OF

THIS.

A LOT OF COMPANIES THAT

YOU ARE NOT AWARE OF STILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS.

IS A SMALL

PERCENTAGE, BUT WHAT IF THEY DO START ROUNDING THESE PEOPLE UP

AND EVENTUALLY THEY START WORKING IN THESE DEPORTATION

CENTERS.

>> IT'S NOT EVEN ABOUT PROCESSING THEM.

I THINK THERE

IS A MOVE BY THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION TO DETAIN THESE

INDIVIDUALS AND GIVE THEM PRISON SENTENCES BEFORE THEY GET

DEPORTED.

IF YOU PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE STOCK MARKET

YOU WILL NOTICE THAT STOCK FOR

GEO GROUP AND CORE CIVIC.

STOCK FOR THOSE TWO COMPANIES

INCREASED SIGNIFICANTLY AFTER DONALD TRUMP GOT ELECTED.

IT'S

BECAUSE HE DOES WANT TO BUILD MORE PRIVATE PRISONS WITH THE

INTENTION OF HOUSING UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS BEFORE

WE DEPORT THEM.

IF YOU ARE CONCERNED ABOUT SAVING MONEY

THAT IS A VERY EXPENSIVE THING

FOR US TO DO.

THAT IS THE MOVE HE IS MAKING IN THE STOCK MARKET

REFLECTS THAT IF YOU LOOK AT HOW

STOCKS SURGED AFTER HE GOT ELECTED.

>>THE OTHER PART OF THE STORY, IT'S JUST RIDDLED WITH

HYPOCRISY.

THE WEAPONIZATION OF FEDERAL FUNDING, EVERY SINGLE

THING THAT COMES OUT OF DONALD

TRUMP'S MOUTH IS DICTATOR 101.

I HATE JUMPING THE GUN.

I HAVE

BEEN WORRIED ABOUT THIS BECAUSE I COME FROM A REGIME THAT

TRANSITIONED FROM A DEMOCRACY TO

A AUTHORITARIAN REGIME IN TURKEY.

I HAVE SEEN THE WARNING

SIGNS, AND NOW WE ARE AT A POINT

WHERE HE LITERALLY WAS TALKING TO A TEXAS SHERIFF ñ

AND HE SAID WHAT IS HIS NAME WE WILL RUIN HIS POLITICAL CAREER.

THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE.

YOU CAN SAY SHIT LIKE THAT WHEN YOU'RE THE PRESIDENT.

>> WELL HE DOES, AND HE GETS AWAY WITH IT.

>> BUT THEN WE SEE IT'S NOT A JOKE.

>> I

REALLY THINK JERRY BROWN IS A BAD ASS AFTER LOOKING AT THIS.

How The Yakuza Series Has Been Changed Outside Japan - Duration: 6:53.

Salutations!

Mojo from Censored Gaming here.

The Yakuza series is one of Sega's most frequented franchises, which balances from a serious

story to over the top action gameplay.

The games mostly follow Kazuma Kiryu and Haruka Sawamura, but the games do shift perspective

to other protagonists on the occasion.

Previously, we talked about the alteration of one of the bosses went through in the Chinese

version of Yakuza Zero.

Today, I wanted to inform viewers of a vast majority of the other alterations that the

Yakuza series went through in various regions.

For this video, I will mainly be talking about the mainline entries, but I will also refer

to one of the Japanese only spin-off titles.

One of the more well-known alterations that the series has faced is actually in the title.

The series Japanese title, "Ryu ga Gotoku" which translates to "Like a Dragon", was

changed to Yakuza when the first game came west in 2006.

This was due to marketing purposes.

Names of characters were also changed.

The character "Shintaro Kazama" was "Shintaro Fuma" in the west.

"Akira Nishikiyama" was shortened to "Akira Nishiki", which was a reference to his nickname

in the Japanese version.

These name changes were present in the westward versions of Yakuza 1-3, but absent in Yakuza

4 on.

The first title in the series, released in 2006 westward, was probably one of the most

altered titles in the series.

For one, and most notably, the first Yakuza got an English dub westward.

The dub was panned, causing later titles to simply rely on subtitles for translation.

The original script was also altered to add more slurs.

One such example is in the final cutscene of the game in which one of the characters

calls another a bastard, when in the original Japanese, he calls the other scum.

The introductory text for bosses was also translated in the main font for the game.

Yakuza 2 was the least touched in localization.

The translation is more accurate to the original Japanese version's story and use accurate

translations for the first game in its flashback scenes.

Like the first game, Yakuza 2's introductory text for fights was translated and written

in the game's main font.

Like a Dragon Kenzan was the third overall title for the series, but it wasn't brought

over westward.

Kenzan followed the story of legendary samurai Miyamoto Musashi under the alias "Kazumanosuke

Kiryu", as he was trying to find out who was the murderer of a girl named Haruka's

parents who was going under his real name.

Kenzan translates to "Arrives", which was a reference to the series debut on the

PS3.

When asked if Kenzan was going to be brought over west, Sega Australia managing director

Darren Macbeth said that Sega was focusing on Yakuza 3.

Kenzan was never brought over and this is speculated by some to be due to the taboo

subjects of child prostitution, which were present in the game's narrative.

Yakuza 3 was released in 2010 westward and is easily the most altered from the original

Japanese version compared to the other games in the series.

While the translations are accurate to the original Japanese so Sega wouldn't remove

"the human drama that was inherent to the series," a deal of other things were removed

due to time and license issues.

The list of things removed is fairly long, but among the things removed were hostess

clubs and 22 of the game's side missions.

This was also the first game to not translate the introductory text for fights and, instead,

had a subtitle below the Japanese text translating who was being fought.

An interesting thing to note is that one of the characters spoke English in both the west

and Japanese versions.

Yakuza 4 is the first in the series to introduce multiple playable protagonists and introduce

two of the most well-known characters in the series, Shun Akiyama and Taiga Saejima.

Yakuza 4 was touched much less than Yakuza 3 when it came to localization.

The only two things altered from the original Japanese version was a mini-game called "Answer

X Answer", which was cut because the text in the images in the game could not be edited,

and the opening theme of "Butterfly City" being changed to a remix of the final boss

theme "For Faith".

One thing to also note is that Yakuza 4 had a subtitle in Japan, which was "Densetsu

o Tsugumono".

This translates as "Successor of the Legend".

The next title in the series is Yakuza: Dead Souls.

This was the third spin-off of the series, being released after Kenzan and the first

game of the Kurohyou or Black Panther duology.

This was the only spin-off in the series localized.

Instead of being an action game beat-'em-up, Dead Souls focuses more on being a zombie

shooter.

The game brings back Kazuma Kiryu and Shun Akiyama as playable protagonists, introduces

Goro Majima as a playable character, and allows you to play as the main antagonist from Yakuza

2, Ryuji Goda.

Like Yakuza 2, Dead Souls didn't go through many localization changes.

One change was made to the controls, making R1 shoot and Square reload, whilst in Japan

it is the other way around.

However, you can change these in the options menu back to the original controls.

Another change was the subtitle.

In Japan, Dead Souls was titled to be "Of the End".

Yakuza 5 definitely had a lot of trouble coming westward, due to the series declining sales

in the west at the time.

However, three years after the Japanese release, the west finally saw the release of Yakuza

5, however only digitally.

There were a few notable changes.

For one, Yakuza 5, akin to Yakuza 4, had its subtitle, "Yume Kanaeshi Mono" removed.

The subtitle translates to "Fulfiller of Dreams".

Two songs were removed due to licensing issues.

The main theme in the Japanese version, "Bloody Moon" by Gospels of Judas was changed to

an instrumental rock song.

The theme "Wild Romance", which plays during a fight late into the character Tatsuo

Shinada's story, was changed to an instrumental rock theme as well.

Lastly, for this video, we have Yakuza 0.

As mentioned in the last video, Lao Gui was modeled after and played by Hong Kong actor

Sam Lee in the Chinese version.

Yakuza 0 also had its Japanese subtitle, "Chikai no Basho", removed.

The subtitle translates roughly into "The Place of Oath", though most fans refer to

it as "The Promised Land".

For similar reasons to Yakuza 5, the opening theme "Bubble" was changed to be an instrumental

rock theme.

Yakuza 0 brought back the fight text being written in the game's main font.

It's also worth mentioning that all of the title's sexual mini games, such as being able

to visit adult movie stores and watch real life gravure idols, were kept in the Western

localisation.

While we don't have any information on if the upcoming titles Yakuza Kiwami, the remake

to the first Yakuza game, or Yakuza 6: Song of Life, the final game in Kazuma Kiryu's

saga, will be altered, although Yakuza 6 retains its subtitle.

Censored Gaming will continue to update in the coming months should information on any

alterations arise.

This has been Mojo from Censored Gaming.

I hope you have a spectacular night.

This Is Us - Aftershow: Episode 14 (Digital Exclusive - Presented by Chevrolet) - Duration: 6:59.

[Music playing]

- Presented by Chevrolet.

- All right, yeah pound, all right.

Have a good one.

I can get used to this.

- No you couldnt,

because you are not supposed to be here.

- Whoa, whoa. Whats up?

- I take this place seriously

and you are acting like a total ass.

- Wow, okay.

And here I was thinking I was just being myself.

I was just trying to do something nice for you.

- I didnt ask for you to do anything nice for me Toby,

and I thought that you were leaving. What happened?

- Did you ever think that maybe I needed you

to do something nice for me?

[Music playing]

- First of all Toby barges

in right in the middle of class.

Here he is, the humor, you know,

always trying to be funny

and mull over whats really going on sometimes.

Shes like no, no, no Im taking this seriously

and I thought I told you

that when you already came to the camp

and you said you were going to leave, but you stayed.

And now youre in full workout gear

with some light up shoes,

like youre not taking this seriously.

If you dont take this seriously in something

thats important to me, do you not take

our relationship seriously?

And then I think it becomes the anger,

which is really masked

the fear is masked into anger

and turned into anger.

And then when hes like

oh I really just came here to give you this

and of course its this beautiful engagement

ring that was his grandmothers.

And its like oh, so now Im the jerk,

now Kates the jerk?

And its heartbreaking

because that is romantic

and beautiful and wonderful.

- I think it has to do with what youre

saying though also with

 both of your characters are

I think theyre probably so vulnerable

and in different ways theyve masked

and hidden in that.

And one of the places where you guys both

as characters and actors

is so great is this repartee.

You guys are really good

at the characters with each other

as long as its on that level.

[Music playing]

- Wow, nurse manager, that sounds great.

Are you like the best nurse?

Youre the top nurse.

- Yeah Im pretty bad ass.

- Yeah you are.

Its so nice to talk to you, you know.

Finally pick up where we left off.

- Where we left off.

Have you just forgotten where we left off?

- Thats not what I meant.

- This was a mistake.

- No, no, no, just calm down.

Hold on. Sophie, hold on.

[Music playing]

- Were telling the story about their first date

and the first thing they had together

and all that kind of stuff.

I think she kind of falls into that remembering

what it was like to be with him and how great it was,

and then he brings up the well

just pick up where we left off.

For him, in his mind hes like

because we were in love and it was great.

Thats what Im talking about, right.

Lets pick up where we left off and all that bad stuff

lets just leave it behind.

And for her of course its just like well,

you know, you cant do that.

Thats not the way the world spins.

And so then hes left

to sort of pick up the pieces and things like that.

But I think in his mind hes just

where he left off with her

because hes just now realized it again,

he was with the love of his life

and he cant wait to get her back.

And now he sort of feels comfortable

and it feels nice and its something

that hes been wanting forever,

and now he finally has it and hes

finally smart enough to realize it.

And theres jus ta lot of repair work

to do as is a lot of times in relationships.

- Do you think because I think one of the things

thats always so interesting

about what you do,

is the characters capable

of moments of real depth.

- Sure.

- But he doesnt seem to be able to say them.

I dont know quite how you do it.

I always believe it but its like

he just goes from being really connected

and moving,

but then as soon as hes been there

and as soon as hed rather live in lava frost.

Thats interesting.

[Music playing]

- Our vows?

- Yeah.

- I wonder if they still hold up.

- Rebecca, saying I do means saying I will.

I will love you today,

and every day for the rest of my life.

- Jack and Rebecca, they have some of

the most beautiful television love and relationship

that I have seen and I obviously am partial to.

But also, we know a bit about Jacks father

and his upbringing.

And I think that he tries so hard

to not be his father

and that he wants to be a good man

on all accounts, in every capacity.

And so that definitely trickles

down into the Big Three.

- Especially because the kids dont

have the same perspective

that our audience has of that marriage.

They were very protective of making sure

the kids didnt hear certain things, Im sure.

And the kids idea of their parents marriage

or at least in my mind

is that it was a perfect marriage.

- There are a couple of events

and weve certainly teased that Jack isnt alive

anymore

we begin right after we see 114

and we see the idealized

 not the idealized,

we see a very romantic conclusion

to that episode and how important

preserving their marriage is.

Especially now that they've seen

what happens to their best friends

whose marriage didnt work.

We will begin to see as we move

into the last few episodes

of the season that in fact

we havent seen the whole story

of Jack and Rebeccas marriage.

Humans to be 'FROZEN' in TIME for space travel as scientists aim to colonize other planets - Duration: 3:43.

Humans to be FROZEN in TIME for space travel as scientists aim to colonize other

planets

Science fiction is turningyet againinto reality.

Scientists plan to freeze astronauts inside of sleeper pods so they can withstand

and survive extremely long journeys to distant alien worlds in the cosmos.

The technology is planned to be tested on board the International Space Station in the

next 12 months.

The futuristic pods will allow astronauts to hibernate, proving once again that

science fiction and reality are divided by very thin lines.

Similar techniques have been available in popular movies such as Interstellar and the

recent Passengers movie.

Mankinds next logical step is to take the human race to another planet.

As we gear up and prepare to visit planets like Mars, we need to start thinking about

technology that will allow us to get there safe and sound.

In order to reach distant wolrdsbeyond our solar systemscientists have begun working

on sleeper pods.

Mars, which is currently the number one planet we want to visit can be reachedwith todays

technologyin around six months.

In order to reach Plutolocated on the edge of our solar systemthe fastest unmanned

spacecraft traveled nearly ten years.

This means that in order to take mankind to places like pluto, we would need to up or

space tech a lot.

According to scientists, by lowering the average body temperature 37 degrees celsius

to around 32 degrees celsius, our body adjusts and the heart rateas well as the blood

pressureis reduced, inducing a state of sleep.

Interestingly, doctors have already used this technique to treat patients with cardiac arrest

and heart failure so that they have more time to assess the damage.

By using this technique, patients are kept in a comatose state that can last up to four

days.

However, scientists at Spaceworks the company that is developing the pods using

a method it calls therapeutic hypothermia believes that it could make the state

last for months.

President of Spaceworks John A. Bradford said in an interview with Quartz: Our goal is

to get from days and weeks to months.

According to Quartz, Spaceworks stasis chamber will probably look much like they

usually do in science fiction movieswith a few key differences.

Personal stasis pods have some advantages.

You can control everyones ambient temperature individually.

They also come in handy in case of breakdown or an emergency like pathogen, says Bradford.

But that sort of design would add lots of weight to the spaceship.

Thats why Spaceworks engineers are leaning toward an open, shared stasis chamber.

There would be some robotic arms and monitoring systems taking care of [the passengers].

Theyd have small transnasal tubes for the cooling and some warming systems as well,

to bring them back from stasis, says Bradford.

The next step according to Spaceworks is to start testing the pods on animals, and

this could happen within a year, with human testing to follow in space, aboard the International

Space Station.

FLOOD DAMAGE IN PALO ALTO..

KPIX-5'S KEN BASTIDA IS

MONITORING THIS SITUATION.. KEN?

THE 'SAN FRANCISQUITO CREEK' IS

EXPECTED TO REACH AT LEAST 90%

OF ITS CAPACITY... AND IT'S

ALREADY SPILLING OVER IT'S

YOU CAN SEE.. THE WATER HAS

THAT BUSINESS.. AND A COUPLE

OTHER BUILDINGS.. TRIED THEIR

BEST TO BLOCK THE FLOOD WITH

SAND BAGS... BUT

THE WATER WAS NO MATCH.

"jeff day - well it's kind of

slowed down everything right

now, uh.. we are trying to paint

cars and we have water coming

into the shop in the back"

THE SHOP OWNER SAYS SOME OF THE

FLOOD WATER IS ACTUALLY COMING

FROM A BRIDGE PROJECT THAT HE

SAYS CALTRANS HAS NOT FINISHED.

HERE'S ANOTHER VIEW OF THE SAN

FRANCISQUITO CREEK... FROM EAST

PALO ALTO.

CHECK OUT ALL THE DEBRIS HERE...

PILING UP ALONG A BRIDGE. EAST

PALO ALTO POLICE POSTED THE

YOU CAN SEE THEY HAD TO BRING IN

SOME HEAVY EQUIPMENT TO GET ALL

THE DEBRIS OUT OF THERE.. TO

KEEP THE WATER FROM GOING UP

OVER THE BRIDGE.

San Lorenzo River overflows, floods during storm - Duration: 9:23.

DAN: WE HAVE LIVE TEAM COVERAGE

ON THE FLOODING, THE MUDSLIDES

AND THE MANDATORY EVACUATIONS.

AND THE SYSTEM ITSELF.

WE BEGIN WITH LEE SOLOMON.

LEE: A LOT OF RAIN IN A SHORT

AMOUNT OF TIME.

WE WERE ALREADY SATURATED.

WE TALKED ABOUT THIS LAST WEEK,

TALKING ABOUT THE POTENTIAL, AND

THAT IT WOULD BE FAIRLY

DEVASTATING FOR PEOPLE BECAUSE

OF THE AMOUNT OF RAIN COMING

DOWN IF WE DID HAVE THIS

ATMOSPHERIC RIVER POINTING OUT

US.

AND SANTA CRUZ WAS TAKING THE

BRUNT OF IT.

1-2 INCHES FROM WATSONVILLE TO

SANTA CRUZ.

INTO THE HILLS, AND A LOT MORE,

5.7 INCHES IN THE LAST 24 HOURS.

THIS IS FROM YESTERDAY UNTIL NOW

, 3.45 INCHES FOR BOULDER CREEK.

SEVEN INCHES IN THE HILLS.

ABOUT 1.5 INCHES BETWEEN 5:00

P.M. YESTERDAY AND MAYBE 5:00 IN

THE MORNING.

BETWEEN 6:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M.,

FOUR INCHES CAME DOWN THIRD AND

THAT WAS A LOT -- DOWN, AND THAT

WAS A LOT.

AND SAN LORENZO IS A SMALL

WATERSHED, SO IT RISES VERY

QUICKLY.

IT IS THANKFULLY ON THE WAY DOWN

NOW.

WE HAD ABOUT .5 INCHES ACROSS

THE PENINSULA.

ABOUT ONE THIRD OF AN INCH IN

SALINAS.

AND INTO THE SANTA CLARA VALLEY,

.5 INCHES FOR EVERYBODY.

A LOT OF RAIN FOR THE MORNING

HOURS.

IT WAS TAPERING OFF BY THE

AFTERNOON.

THE MAIN BATCH WAS IN THE

SIERRA.

AND NOW SHOWERS, MOST ADVISORIES

LIFTED AND WE ARE WATCHING THE

BIG SUR RIVER IN BIG SUR

VILLAGE, REACHING FLOOD STAGE.

SOME OF THOSE BIG RIVERS COMING

UP AND SOME OF THE SMALL CREEKS

ARE NOW COMING DOWN.

AND WE HAVE MORE RAIN IN THE

FORECAST.

WE WILL TALK ABOUT THAT IN A FEW

MINUTES.

ERIN: THANK YOU.

AND GETTING AROUND IS NOT EASY

RIGHT NOW.

THERE ARE MULTIPLE ROAD CLOSURES

ACROSS THE CENTRAL COAST.

DAN: BUT A LITTLE BIT OF GOOD

NEWS.

TRAFFIC REPORTER MICHELLE ALLE

JOINS US WITH BREAKING NEWS.

MICHELLE: I HAVE ONE LANE OF

GOOD NEWS.

THESE CREWS, BLESS THEIR HEARTS.

HIGHWAY 17 HAS BEEN CLOSED IN

BOTH DIRECTIONS SINCE 10:30 A.M.

ONE LANE OF SOUTHBOUND 17 HAS

REOPENED AND THEY ARE ESCORTING

THE TRAFFIC THROUGH.

PART OF THE REASON, THERE IS

MORE THAN ONE SLIDE.

THERE IS A LARGE ONE YEAR V --

NEAR VINE HILL.

AND ANOTHER ONE YEAR THE

RESERVOIR.

THEY ARE WORKING ON THESE ON

HIGHWAY 17.

ONE LANE IS OPEN AND THE GOAL IS

TO HAVE THE HIGHWAY OPEN BY

TOMORROW MORNING, SINGLING ON

THE SOUTHBOUND -- SINGLE LANE ON

THE SOUTHBOUND.

84 IS CLOSED.

YOUR BEST ROUTE, TAKE HIGHWAY

101 21 29.

BUT THERE IS FLOODING ON 101 AT

10TH AND 25.

DAN: THANK YOU.

WE WILL GET MORE FROM YOU IN A

BIT.

AND RAINFALL CAUSING MUDSLIDES

AND CAUSING EVACUATIONS ALL OVER

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY.

WE WILL SHOW YOU SOME OF THE

WORST DAMAGE.

IT HAPPENED IN PARADISE PARK.

WE WANT TO GO TO PHIL GOMEZ.

PHIL: THE RAIN WAS RELENTLESS

AND THE RIVER WAS FLOODING IN

SEVERAL PLACES FROM SANTA CRUZ

DOUBLED CREEK.

>> 60-70 FOOT REDWOOD TREES LOOK

LIKE THEY'RE GOING DOWN THE

RIVER AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED.

SEVERAL HOMES ALONG THE RAGING

SAN LORENZO RIVER FLOODED IN

PARADISE PARK.

PHIL: AT TODD AND VIRGINIA

WILLIAMS' HOUSE, THEY HAD A

CLOSE UP VIEW OF THE RAPIDS.

AND THEIR DOWNSTAIRS LIVING

SPACE WAS FLOODED WITH SEVERAL

INCHES OF WATER.

>> IT'S OUR PATIO AREA, SO WE

HAVE ALL OUR PATIO AND STUFF NOW

FLOATING.

>> THAT'S THE RIVER OUT THERE.

THAT'S THE SAN LORENZO RIVER.

>> THE WEATHER SERVICE BROADCAST

SAID IT WAS ONLY GOING TO GET TO

18-1, AND 18-1 ISN'T A PROBLEM

FOR ME.

THIS HAS GOT TO BE MORE THAN 25.

THIS IS A PROBLEM FOR ME.

PHIL: OUTSIDE, PROPANE GAS WAS

SPEWED FROM A TANK

A WOMAN LIVING NEARBY WAS PULLED

OUT BY EMERGENCY CREWS.

>> THEY CARRIED ME OUT AS I

SAID, PIGGYBACK, BUT I COULDN'T

TAKE THE BAGS I HAD PACKED.

THAT'S WHY I'M HERE.

I'M WAITING FOR THE WATER TO

GO DOWN.

PHIL: PARADISE PARK RESIDENTS

WERE ASKED TO EVACUATE, BUT MANY

OF THEM CHOSE TO SHELTER IN

PLACE.

>> A LOT OF THEM KNOW WHAT TO DO

AS FAR AS SAND BAGGING, STUFF

LIKE THAT.

THEY KIND OF SHELTER IN PLACE.

BUT IF THEY DO WANT TO EVCUATE,

WE HAVE PLACES IN THE PARK WHERE

THEY CAN EVACUATE TO.

PHIL: HIGHWAY 9 WAS CLOSED IN

BOTH DIRECTIONS.

THERE WAS 3 FEET OF WATER

BLOCKING THE NORTHBOUND SIDE AT

SYCAMORE GROVE AND A MUDSLIDE ON

THE SOUTHBOUND SIDE.

>> WE JUST CAME DOWN TO CHECK

OUT THE RIVER AND WE'RE KIND OF

TRAPPED NOW.

SO, WE'RE GOING TO GO BACK AND

SEE IF WE CAN GO AROUND.

PHIL: LONGTIME RESIDENTS WERE

SURPRISED AND SHOCKED.

>> I'VE NEVER SEEN THIS HIGH.

I'VE LIVED IN SANTA CRUZ COUNTY

SINCE 1965, I'VE LIVED IN

PARADISE PARK FOR 22 YEARS.

I'VE NEVER SEEN IT LIKE THIS.

PHIL: I HAVE NEVER SEEN IT LIKE

THAT BEFORE EITHER.

WE WERE ALMOST STUCK IN PARADISE

PARK.

WE DISCOVERED A BACK ROAD AND

WERE ABLE TO RETURN SAFELY BACK

TO SANTA CRUZ.

THAT ROAD WAS LATER CLOSED

BECAUSE IT ALSO FLOODED.

DAN: IT IS A MESS.

THANK YOU.

MANY IN FELTON GROVE IN THE

SANTA CRUZ MOUNTAINS SAW THE SAN

LORENZO RIVER RISE, THEN FLOOD

THEIR HOMES.

WATER LITERALLY RUSHING THROUGH

THEIR YARDS.

VERY SIMILAR TO WHAT YOU SAW

FROM PHIL GOMEZ.

THIS IS VIDEO THAT WAS SHARED

WITH ACTION NEWS 8 BY THE PRESS

BANNER NEWSPAPER OF SCOTTS

VALLEY.

THIS IS ACROSS GRAHAM HILL ROAD

FROM THE SAFEWAY THERE IN

FELTON.

THE TANNERY ARTS CENTER IN SANTA

CRUZ ALSO SAW SOME FLOODING.

INTERESTINGLY, IT WAS BUILT WITH

FLOODING IN MIND, THAT'S BECAUSE

IT SITS CLOSE TO THE SAN LORENZO

RIVER.

THE ELEVATOR IN THE PARKING

GARAGE EVEN HAS A DOOR LIKE A

SUBMARINE.

THERE IS AN AIR BLADDER AROUND

THE EDGE THAT CAN BE INFLATED TO

MAKE IT WATER TIGHT.

NO DAMAGE TO THE TANNERY ITSELF,

BUT SOME CARS HAD TO BE TOWED.

ERIN AS MICHELLE MENTIONED, ONE

LANE IS OPEN ON HIGHWAY 17 IN

SCOTTS VALLEY.

AND THEY ARE ESCORTING PEOPLE,

SO IT IS SLOW.

AND A HUGE MUDSLIDE HAS CLOSED

THE HIGHWAY IN BOTH DIRECTIONS

AT VINE HILL ROAD.

THIS IS VIDEO SENT TO US BY A

VIEWER.

THE SLIDE UPROOTED TREES AND

LEFT THOUSANDS WITHOUT POWER

TODAY.

IT EVEN CRUSHED A CAR.

CHECK THAT OUT.

AMAZINGLY, THE DRIVER WALKED

AWAY UNINJURED.

CAL TRANS SAYS THE AREA IS STILL

VERY UNSTABLE.

THERE IS NO ESTIMATION ON WHEN

THE HIGHWAY WILL RE-OPEN.

AND FOR THE THIRD TIME IN A

MATTER OF WEEKS, A LEVEE BREAKS

HAS LED TO FLOODING IN THE

LOVERS LANE NEIGHBORHOOD IN

HOLLISTER AGAIN.

IT IS A PROBLEM THAT KEEPS

GETTING WORSE.

THERE IS A NEW BREAK IN THE

LEVEE.

AND NOW THEY ARE TRYING TO GET A

BETTER LOOK AT THE DAMAGE.

THE WATER IS COMING FROM THE

PACHECO CREEK, WHICH WASN'T

EXPECTED TO PEAK UNTIL LATER

TONIGHT.

AND IT WAS ONLY EXPECTED TO GO

AS HIGH AS 14-FEET.

THAT DID NOT HAPPEN.

IT ACTUALLY PEAKED AT 2:00 THIS

AFTERNOON, OVER 19 FEET.

THAT WATER HAS FLOODED SAN

FELIPE ROAD AND REACHED LOVERS

LANE.

RESIDENTS ARE WARNED TO GET OUT

AS THE WATER GETS HIGHER I

-- GETS HIGHER.

>> THIS IS WHAT IT WAS LIKE IN

THE FIRST FLOOD WITH THE WATER

WASHING ACROSS THE ROAD LIKE

THAT.

I WAS TALKING TO A BUNCH OF THE

COUNTY FOLKS AND THEY SAID THIS

MAY BE EVEN WORSE THAN THE FIRST

FLOOD THAT WE HAD.

>> THE SHERIFF WAS DRIVING UP

AND DOWN TELLING EVERYBODY TO GO

TOO, SO WE ARE JUST TRYING TO

MAKE SURE MY GRANDPARENTS' HOUSE

DOESN'T FLOOD AGAIN.

ERIN: COUNTY OFFICIALS ARE

REALLY URGING PEOPLE TO STAY

AWAY AND NOT TRY TO DRIVE

THROUGH.

THE WATER IS DEEP, IT'S MOVING

FAST AND USING THE DRONE, THEY

WERE ABLE TO IDENTIFY A NEW

SINKHOLE ON SAN FELIPE ROA

RIGHT NOW, THERE IS JUST TOO

MUCH WATER TO DO ANY CLEAN UP OR

REPAIRS.

DAN: IN SOUTH MONTEREY COUNTY,

MONTEREY COUNTY PUBLIC WORKS IS

WATCHING THE SALINAS RIVER VERY

CLOSELY.

THIS IS THE SKINNER-SERRANO

MEMORIAL BRIDGE ON 101 IN

SOLEDAD.

THE RIVER IS RISING, HOWEVER

IT'S STILL SEVERAL FEET BELOW

FLOOD STAGE.

BIG SUR RIVER, THIS IS WHAT IT

WAS LOOKING LIKE TODAY, THE

STORM BRINGING DOWN MUD AND

ROCKS ONTO THE HIGHWAY.

AND A FLASH FLOOD WARNING ON THE

BIG SUR RIVER.

YOU ARE TAKING A LOOK AT COW

CLIFFS AT MILE MARKER 28.

IT IS THE LARGEST SLIDE SO FAR.

IT IS AN ACTIVE SLIDE AND WILL

NOT BE TOUCHED UNTIL IT IS

SETTLED.

THAT COULD TAKE SEVERAL DAYS.

Are Japanese Men Too Lonely (Virtual Wife) | ASIAN BOSS - Duration: 8:04.

Hey guys, it's Kei from Asian Boss.

Recently, a new Japanese smart home device called

'Virtual Home Robot' made headlines around the world,

raising the question of if Japanese men are too lonely.

So we thought we'd find out Japanese people's perspectives on this new technology,

and related social issues in Japanese society.

Let's find out.

Have you heard of a virtual home robot that's like a girlfriend?

Nope.

I haven't.

Wasn't there one in the movie "Her"?

Ah, right.

But that was only audio.

-Let me show you a quick video. -Okay.

Could you let me know what you think afterwards?

Hey, wake up!

Good morning.

Morning.

Oh, it might rain today. Take your umbrella with you.

Hurry up or you will be late.

-It's a hologram. -That's incredible!

See you later.

Wow, just like a real person.

-You think so? -Yeah, can't tell the difference.

She might even be cuter than a real girlfriend.

Woah!

This is too much...

Cool, right?

I don't get it. I can't even believe what I'm seeing.

-You liking this? -Yes.

That's some amazing technology.

So what did you think of this video?

I don't think it was very positive overall and...

I kinda felt sorry for the guy.

I didn't think it was that bad.

That said, you might have trouble forming relationships after that.

Would you want a device like this?

If I can't get married by 35...

I'd get one.

If someone found out that I was using this,

that'd be super embarrassing.

I'm not that desperate yet, so I'm fine for now.

-You are fine? -For now.

But if I was in my thirties or forties without a partner,

and I felt alone, I might buy it.

Why do you think they invented this device?

Because it would sell.

I think it's targeted towards those that think of marriage as a hassle,

have decent income and

can afford to get one.

Most guys buying something like this probably have little interest in sex

or meeting women in real life.

Some guys don't want to get hurt or

embarrassed by women in real life.

that they end up relying on fictional characters.

As a country, I feel like Japan is

shying away from real-life dating

and this could just be another step in that direction.

Is this part of the broader trend of Japan moving away from dating?

I think it's true that both men and women in Japan

find dating troublesome.

Like, it's not that meaningful...

not to mention it's very costly.

The older generation might not get this and

just tell us to get married and have kids...

but to us...

that's a lot of pressure.

I feel that this is becoming a downward spiral.

I mean, you even see on TV shows that men

are gradually becoming more passive and

I think that there is a lot of truth to it.

These days, guys probably think that hanging out with other guy friends

is probably enough.

They may want a girlfriend,

but because it's not that easy, they just give up.

BBC used this video as a way to show

how lonely Japanese men are.

Would you say this loneliness issue is real?

I think so in that...

even I feel lonely sometimes.

I see some men and I can tell if they seem lonely.

So I understand how foreigners

can draw such conclusions.

I've got guy friends I can hang out with so...

I'm having fun and don't feel particularly lonely.

But sometimes, I do wish I had a girlfriend.

Back in the day in the countryside,

everyone knew everyone in the neighborhood so

you wouldn't feel lonely at all.

In fact, people would even leave their hometowns just to be left alone.

But for those that have

always lived in the city,

if there were no school or club activities,

they'd probably feel lonely.

Nowadays, people have more options

to entertain themselves with.

For example, you didn't have video games in the past but

instead, played card or board games with other people,

which meant you had to communicate directly with others.

Do you feel that people are gradually avoiding

social interactions in Japanese society?

Probably more so compared to non-Japanese societies.

Nowadays, because we can easily reach

others via social media like LINE (Japanese messaging app),

I feel that a lot of people don't value

face-to-face interactions anymore,

which is a serious issue.

With technology in VR, AR and AI advancing so quickly,

what kind of impact do you think this will have on our society?

If VR can be applied to improve

the education sector or foster further growth in human potential,

it might be a good thing.

But I don't think it's right to use it replace a girlfriend in real life

because of obvious biological reasons.

You know, humans have to reproduce to survive.

I value the warmth that comes from another human being.

On my death bed, I don't want to look back on my life

and realize that I was just living life dominated by virtual reality.

If so, I'd feel like I lost the most important thing that makes me human.

That's why even though relationships might have their ups and downs,

ultimately, it's only the memories with your loved ones that will last.

Big Problems Brewing Between Trump And California... - Duration: 12:41.

DURING DONALD TRUMP'S INTERVIEW WITH BILL O'REILLY HE

SPECIFICALLY ADDRESSED THE ISSUE OF SO-CALLED SANCTUARY CITIES

AND HOW HE PLANS ON GOING AFTER

THEM BY CUTTING FEDERAL FUNDING IF THEY DON'T ABIDE BY HIS RULES

OF GOING AFTER UNDOCUMENTED

IMMIGRANTS.

CALIFORNIA HAS RESISTED SOME OF DONALD TRUMP'S

POLICIES AND THEY SPECIFICALLY PLAN ON RESISTING SOME OF HIS

IDEAS WHEN IT COMES TO

UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS.

APPARENTLY A NUMBER OF LAWMAKERS

HAVE PUSHED BACK AGAINST ENDING SANCTUARY CITIES.

BY ACTUALLY

MAKING CALIFORNIA A SANCTUARY STATE FOR UNDOCUMENTED

IMMIGRANTS.

I WILL GET TO THAT, BUT BEFORE I DO SO TAKE A LOOK AT DONALD

TRUMP'S TOUGH TALK WHEN IT COMES TO CALIFORNIA.

PLEASE TELL ME WE HAVE THE VIDEO.

>> THAT IS LIKE A TED TALK, BUT TOUGH.

>> WE DON'T HAVE THE VIDEO BECAUSE I HAVE TO MICROMANAGE

AND MAKE SURE THAT EVERYTHING

GETS DONE.

>> CALIFORNIA IN MANY WAYS IS OUT OF CONTROL.

>> ESSENTIALLY HE SAID THAT CALIFORNIA IS OUT OF CONTROL AND

IF WE DON'T ABIDE BY HIS RULES HE WILL CUT FEDERAL FUNDING TO

THE STATE.

SO THAT'S THE PLAN.

SO SEVERAL LAWMAKERS INCLUDING

LOS ANGELES MAYOR ERIC GARCETTI SAID NO, WE ARE NOT GOING TO

LISTEN TO HIM.

WE ARE GOING TO

MAKE THIS A SANCTUARY STATE.

SOME PEOPLE MIGHT THINK THIS IS

RISKY.

CALIFORNIA CAN'T REALLY STAND TO LOSE FEDERAL FUNDING

AND WE KNOW DONALD TRUMP FOLLOWS THROUGH ON SOME OF THE CRAZY

THINGS HE PROMISES TO DO.

THE REALITY IS THAT UNDOCUMENTED

IMMIGRANTS ACTUALLY PLAY A HUGE

ROLE IN THE ECONOMY HERE.

THE LAWMAKERS ARE BANKING ON THE

IDEA THAT IT WOULD BE AGAINST THE CONSTITUTION FOR DONALD

TRUMP TO JUST PULL ALL FEDERAL

FUNDING FROM THE STATE.

I DON'T KNOW IF THEY HAVE A LEG TO STAND

ON IF IT COMES TO THAT CLAIM.

IF YOU LOOK AT THE IMPACT OF THAT

UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS HAVE

HERE IN CALIFORNIA IS PRETTY SIGNIFICANT.

LET'S GO TO GRAPHIC

NUMBER NINE.

IF WE AGGRESSIVELY GO AFTER UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS

IT ACTUALLY COULD NEGATIVELY IMPACT THE ECONOMY HERE IN

CALIFORNIA.

WHAT PEOPLE DON'T

REALIZE IS THAT IT WOULD IMPACT THE ECONOMY OF THE UNITED STATES

AS WELL.

JUMP IN.

>> WHY DID YOU LOOK AT ME LIKE THAT?

>>BECAUSE

YOU ARE NODDING SO I THOUGHT YOU WANTED TO SAY SOMETHING.

>> NO, I WAS AGREEING TO EVERYTHING YOU WERE SAYING.

THE

FEDERAL FUNDING IS $68 BILLION, I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THAT

UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS ACTUALLY CONTRIBUTED.

I KNOW THEY

CONTRIBUTE HEAVILY TO SOCIETY AND IRONICALLY IT IS ONE OF THE

TALKING POINTS AGAINST

UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS.

NO THEY ACTUALLY CONTRIBUTE MORE TO SOCIETY THAN THEY TAKE,

ASSHOLE.

>> ALSO IN CALIFORNIA WE HAVE A PRETTY HIGH SALES TAX.

SO THEY

DO PAY TAXES IN THE FORM OF

SALES TAX.

IN A LOT OF CASES THEY WORK UNDER A SOCIAL

SECURITY NUMBER THAT ISN'T THEIRS, THEY ACTUALLY CONTRIBUTE

MONEY TO THE SYSTEM THEY NEVER

GET TO BENEFIT FROM.

SO THEY ARE NOT GOING TO GET THOSE BENEFITS LATER ON THOUGHT

>>BUT I DO SEE THE OTHER SIDE AS WELL.

THIS IS A COMPETENT ISSUE

AND YOU CAN'T SAY OKAY LET'S ALLOW EVERYONE TO COME INTO THE

COUNTRY AS WELL.

THERE IS A LOT OF MISINFORMATION ABOUT

SANCTUARY CITIES IT ANNOYS ME.

A LOT OF PEOPLE ASSUME

UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS COME

HERE TO RAPE AND PILLAGE PEOPLE.

THEY DON'T THINK ABOUT WHY THESE

PEOPLE ARE CROSSING THE BORDER THROUGH SUCH TREACHEROUS

CONDITIONS TO FIND A BETTER LIFE

FOR THEMSELVES.

>> THAT IS A GOOD POINT.

WHEN WE HEAR FROM THE OTHER SIDE THE

NEGATIVES IT'S NOT ABOUT THE

ECONOMIC CONTRIBUTIONS THAT UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS ARE

MAKING.

WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT IS CRIME.

I THINK AN

IMPORTANT THING THAT THE RIGHT IS GOING TO BRING UP IS THE CASE

OF KATE STEINLE IN 2015 WHICH WAS SHE WAS TRAGICALLY MURDERED

BY AN UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANT AND

THIS HAPPENED IN SAN FRANCISCO.

FOLLOWING THIS THERE WERE

THREATS, NOT FROM THE PRESIDENT, THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE.

CALIFORNIA IS FAMILIAR WITH THIS.

NEED TO BE AWARE THAT THIS

IS WHAT THE RIGHT BRINGS UP.

THEY USE CASES LIKE CATE'S, THEY

PAINT AN ENTIRE POPULATION AS

DANGEROUS.

LET'S TALK ABOUT THE ENTIRETY OF THE SANCTUARY CITIES AND WHAT

IS GOING ON HERE.

>> YOU BRING UP A GOOD POINT AND I DO WANT TO TOUCH ON WHAT THE

REALITY IS REGARDING SANCTUARY CITIES AND THE CRIME RATES IN

THESE CITIES.

OF COURSE THE FEAR MONGERING ABOUT IMMIGRATION WILL

ESSENTIALLY TELL YOU IT IS DANGEROUS, THEY ARE CRIMINALS

AND RAPISTS.

THAT IS ONE OF THE REASONS WHY WE NEED TO DO AWAY

WITH UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS.

ACCORDING TO FBI DATA LOOKING

INTO SANCTUARY CITIES, CRIME IS

NOT HIGHER.

IN A LOT OF CASES IT IS LOWER.

THERE IS A HUGE

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ANECDOTES AND ACTUAL TRENDS.

I THINK ONE OF

THE BIGGEST ISSUES WE HAVE HERE

IN THE US IS THAT THE ELECTORATE WILL MISTAKE SINGLE STORIES OR

ANECDOTES AS A DEPICTION OF A BROADER ISSUE.

AND THAT IS NOT

THE CASE.

AGAIN THIS DATA COMES FROM THE FBI.

IT IS NOT TRUE

THAT SANCTUARY CITIES ARE LESS

SAFE.

THAT IS POINT NUMBER ONE.

POINT NUMBER TWO DOES HAVE TO DO

WITH THE ECONOMY.

I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND, WE CAN'T JUST OPEN

OUR BORDERS AND SAY EVERYONE

COME IN.

YOU HAVE TO HAVE RULES AND REGULATIONS, THAT IS FAIR.

BUT AT THE SAME TIME I THINK WE DON'T GET TO THE PART OF THE

DISCUSSION THAT ADDRESSES THE ECONOMIC CONTRIBUTIONS OF

UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS.

IT'S A MUCH MORE NUANCED THAN WHAT THE

ADMINISTRATION WILL HAVE YOU

BELIEVE.

IT'S NOT AS CUT AND DRY.

THERE ARE A LOT OF

INDUSTRIES THAT WOULD SUFFER IF

WE DID THAT.

THERE IS A GREAT PIECE DONE REGARDING OUR

AGRICULTURE.

IN VARIOUS STATES, LAWMAKERS PENALIZED THE FARM

OWNERS TO KEEP EMPLOYING

UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS.

SO THE FARM OWNERS SAID THEY DIDN'T

WANT TO DEAL WITH THE PENALTIES

AND BREAKING THE LAW, SO THEY FIRED THE UNDOCUMENTED

IMMIGRANTS AND HIRED AMERICAN FARMERS.

THEY HAD A REALLY HARD

TIME HIRING FARMERS.

THAN THEY REALIZED THEY PROBABLY HAVE TO

PAY THEM MORE.

IN SOME STATES, I BELIEVE OREGON IS ONE OF THEM,

THEY DECIDED TO INCREASE WAGES

TO $15 AN HOUR.

AND THEY STILL COULDN'T FIND PEOPLE WHO ARE

WILLING TO DO THE WORK.

I'M NOT SAYING NO AMERICAN WANTS TO DO

FARMING.

BUT IT WAS INTERESTING TO SEE THIS SPECIFIC INDUSTRY

EXPERIENCE NEGATIVE RAMIFICATIONS OF THESE

ANTI-IMMIGRATION LAWS.

>> I DON'T MEAN TO FEARMONGER, BUT WHAT I AM TERRIFIED OF IS

THE DEPORTATION CENTERS AND HOW

THEY WILL START UTILIZING THEM.

THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WAS

HAPPENING UNDER OBAMA AS WELL,

IT'S NOT NEW.

THEY DO TAKE AWAY UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS AND SEND

THEM TO DEPORTATION CENTERS WHERE THEY HAVE TO WORK FOR

FREE.

IT'S ESSENTIALLY FREE LABOR BECAUSE IT'S NOT PROTECTED

IN THE CONSTITUTION.

IT'S REALLY INHUMANE AND IMMORAL THAT WE

STILL DO IT.

COMPANIES EVEN LIKE WHOLE FOODS TAKE ADVANTAGE OF

THIS.

A LOT OF COMPANIES THAT

YOU ARE NOT AWARE OF STILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS.

IS A SMALL

PERCENTAGE, BUT WHAT IF THEY DO START ROUNDING THESE PEOPLE UP

AND EVENTUALLY THEY START WORKING IN THESE DEPORTATION

CENTERS.

>> IT'S NOT EVEN ABOUT PROCESSING THEM.

I THINK THERE

IS A MOVE BY THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION TO DETAIN THESE

INDIVIDUALS AND GIVE THEM PRISON SENTENCES BEFORE THEY GET

DEPORTED.

IF YOU PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE STOCK MARKET

YOU WILL NOTICE THAT STOCK FOR

GEO GROUP AND CORE CIVIC.

STOCK FOR THOSE TWO COMPANIES

INCREASED SIGNIFICANTLY AFTER DONALD TRUMP GOT ELECTED.

IT'S

BECAUSE HE DOES WANT TO BUILD MORE PRIVATE PRISONS WITH THE

INTENTION OF HOUSING UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS BEFORE

WE DEPORT THEM.

IF YOU ARE CONCERNED ABOUT SAVING MONEY

THAT IS A VERY EXPENSIVE THING

FOR US TO DO.

THAT IS THE MOVE HE IS MAKING IN THE STOCK MARKET

REFLECTS THAT IF YOU LOOK AT HOW

STOCKS SURGED AFTER HE GOT ELECTED.

>>THE OTHER PART OF THE STORY, IT'S JUST RIDDLED WITH

HYPOCRISY.

THE WEAPONIZATION OF FEDERAL FUNDING, EVERY SINGLE

THING THAT COMES OUT OF DONALD

TRUMP'S MOUTH IS DICTATOR 101.

I HATE JUMPING THE GUN.

I HAVE

BEEN WORRIED ABOUT THIS BECAUSE I COME FROM A REGIME THAT

TRANSITIONED FROM A DEMOCRACY TO

A AUTHORITARIAN REGIME IN TURKEY.

I HAVE SEEN THE WARNING

SIGNS, AND NOW WE ARE AT A POINT

WHERE HE LITERALLY WAS TALKING TO A TEXAS SHERIFF ñ

AND HE SAID WHAT IS HIS NAME WE WILL RUIN HIS POLITICAL CAREER.

THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE.

YOU CAN SAY SHIT LIKE THAT WHEN YOU'RE THE PRESIDENT.

>> WELL HE DOES, AND HE GETS AWAY WITH IT.

>> BUT THEN WE SEE IT'S NOT A JOKE.

>> I

REALLY THINK JERRY BROWN IS A BAD ASS AFTER LOOKING AT THIS.

Big Problems Brewing Between Trump And California... - Duration: 12:41.

DURING DONALD TRUMP'S INTERVIEW WITH BILL O'REILLY HE

SPECIFICALLY ADDRESSED THE ISSUE OF SO-CALLED SANCTUARY CITIES

AND HOW HE PLANS ON GOING AFTER

THEM BY CUTTING FEDERAL FUNDING IF THEY DON'T ABIDE BY HIS RULES

OF GOING AFTER UNDOCUMENTED

IMMIGRANTS.

CALIFORNIA HAS RESISTED SOME OF DONALD TRUMP'S

POLICIES AND THEY SPECIFICALLY PLAN ON RESISTING SOME OF HIS

IDEAS WHEN IT COMES TO

UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS.

APPARENTLY A NUMBER OF LAWMAKERS

HAVE PUSHED BACK AGAINST ENDING SANCTUARY CITIES.

BY ACTUALLY

MAKING CALIFORNIA A SANCTUARY STATE FOR UNDOCUMENTED

IMMIGRANTS.

I WILL GET TO THAT, BUT BEFORE I DO SO TAKE A LOOK AT DONALD

TRUMP'S TOUGH TALK WHEN IT COMES TO CALIFORNIA.

PLEASE TELL ME WE HAVE THE VIDEO.

>> THAT IS LIKE A TED TALK, BUT TOUGH.

>> WE DON'T HAVE THE VIDEO BECAUSE I HAVE TO MICROMANAGE

AND MAKE SURE THAT EVERYTHING

GETS DONE.

>> CALIFORNIA IN MANY WAYS IS OUT OF CONTROL.

>> ESSENTIALLY HE SAID THAT CALIFORNIA IS OUT OF CONTROL AND

IF WE DON'T ABIDE BY HIS RULES HE WILL CUT FEDERAL FUNDING TO

THE STATE.

SO THAT'S THE PLAN.

SO SEVERAL LAWMAKERS INCLUDING

LOS ANGELES MAYOR ERIC GARCETTI SAID NO, WE ARE NOT GOING TO

LISTEN TO HIM.

WE ARE GOING TO

MAKE THIS A SANCTUARY STATE.

SOME PEOPLE MIGHT THINK THIS IS

RISKY.

CALIFORNIA CAN'T REALLY STAND TO LOSE FEDERAL FUNDING

AND WE KNOW DONALD TRUMP FOLLOWS THROUGH ON SOME OF THE CRAZY

THINGS HE PROMISES TO DO.

THE REALITY IS THAT UNDOCUMENTED

IMMIGRANTS ACTUALLY PLAY A HUGE

ROLE IN THE ECONOMY HERE.

THE LAWMAKERS ARE BANKING ON THE

IDEA THAT IT WOULD BE AGAINST THE CONSTITUTION FOR DONALD

TRUMP TO JUST PULL ALL FEDERAL

FUNDING FROM THE STATE.

I DON'T KNOW IF THEY HAVE A LEG TO STAND

ON IF IT COMES TO THAT CLAIM.

IF YOU LOOK AT THE IMPACT OF THAT

UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS HAVE

HERE IN CALIFORNIA IS PRETTY SIGNIFICANT.

LET'S GO TO GRAPHIC

NUMBER NINE.

IF WE AGGRESSIVELY GO AFTER UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS

IT ACTUALLY COULD NEGATIVELY IMPACT THE ECONOMY HERE IN

CALIFORNIA.

WHAT PEOPLE DON'T

REALIZE IS THAT IT WOULD IMPACT THE ECONOMY OF THE UNITED STATES

AS WELL.

JUMP IN.

>> WHY DID YOU LOOK AT ME LIKE THAT?

>>BECAUSE

YOU ARE NODDING SO I THOUGHT YOU WANTED TO SAY SOMETHING.

>> NO, I WAS AGREEING TO EVERYTHING YOU WERE SAYING.

THE

FEDERAL FUNDING IS $68 BILLION, I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THAT

UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS ACTUALLY CONTRIBUTED.

I KNOW THEY

CONTRIBUTE HEAVILY TO SOCIETY AND IRONICALLY IT IS ONE OF THE

TALKING POINTS AGAINST

UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS.

NO THEY ACTUALLY CONTRIBUTE MORE TO SOCIETY THAN THEY TAKE,

ASSHOLE.

>> ALSO IN CALIFORNIA WE HAVE A PRETTY HIGH SALES TAX.

SO THEY

DO PAY TAXES IN THE FORM OF

SALES TAX.

IN A LOT OF CASES THEY WORK UNDER A SOCIAL

SECURITY NUMBER THAT ISN'T THEIRS, THEY ACTUALLY CONTRIBUTE

MONEY TO THE SYSTEM THEY NEVER

GET TO BENEFIT FROM.

SO THEY ARE NOT GOING TO GET THOSE BENEFITS LATER ON THOUGHT

>>BUT I DO SEE THE OTHER SIDE AS WELL.

THIS IS A COMPETENT ISSUE

AND YOU CAN'T SAY OKAY LET'S ALLOW EVERYONE TO COME INTO THE

COUNTRY AS WELL.

THERE IS A LOT OF MISINFORMATION ABOUT

SANCTUARY CITIES IT ANNOYS ME.

A LOT OF PEOPLE ASSUME

UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS COME

HERE TO RAPE AND PILLAGE PEOPLE.

THEY DON'T THINK ABOUT WHY THESE

PEOPLE ARE CROSSING THE BORDER THROUGH SUCH TREACHEROUS
