How the BBC makes Planet Earth look like a Hollywood movie - Duration: 8:48.
These images of a swarm of locusts are from the BBC's groundbreaking Planet Earth series in 2006.
And this footage comes from the brand new sequel to that program — this is Planet Earth 2.
You might notice the improvement in resolution from HD to Ultra-HD.
But another big change is that in Planet Earth 2, it's not just the grasshoppers that are moving.
The cameras are moving too.
These dynamic tracking shots are part of the reason why Planet Earth 2 is the BBC's most
cinematic wildlife film yet.
GUNTON: We know when we go to the cinema now the camera's never static. It's always on
the move, it's always on a steadicam, it's always on tracks, it's always flying.
And I think we wanted to reflect that in our approach. Not just because we wanted to
do homage to cinema but because the reason why cinema does that is because as soon as
you have that sense of moving camera it feels more immersive, it feels more connected.
Watching Planet Earth 2 feels a bit like watching a hollywood blockbuster.
You almost forget that these actors are hiding in remote corners of the globe
and they do not follow scripts.
The BBC's Natural History Unit in Bristol has been producing wildlife films for 60 years.
Their frequent presenter, sir David Attenborough, is most recognizable voice of the genre.
"This extraordinary creature is half blind, half deaf, and this is just about as fast
as it can move" And through the decades, they've continually
raised the bar for the look and feel of nature films, too.
That evolution, as we'll explore in this 3-part series, is in large part a story of technology.
The first big breakthrough was lightweight, 16mm film cameras.
NIGHTINGALE: If you remember, television began as a studio operation.
It just had ginormous video cameras that were larger than a person.
Then in the film industry, of course, that was all movies, and again, they were very,
very cumbersome.
There simply weren't cameras that you could take into the jungles and deserts and so on.
16mm cameras were portable, but they were controversial inside the BBC, seen as amateur
cameras, since 35mm film was the broadcast standard at the time.
But Attenborough insisted on the smaller cameras for his first trips overseas.
And sure enough, he came back with footage of animals that had never before been filmed,
like these Indri lemurs in Madagascar.
Fifty-six years later, filming the Indri means moving the camera around them and traveling
with them through the trees, but the technology they used to do this has only come around
in the past few years.
The issue is stabilization.
You can see the shaking in these rare handheld shots from the BBC's 1990 series The Trials of Life.
Aerial shots had the same problem.
And if they tried to zoom in, those bumps just got magnified.
Producers could achieve cinematic motion with cranes, dollies, and sliders where it was
practical to do so.
But for decades almost all the shots that weren't underwater involved a camera on
a tripod — panning, tilting and zooming to follow the action.
There's definitely no shortage of incredible animal behavior to film that way.
But it all changed around 2002. That's when BBC switched
from film to digital HD cameras for the Planet Earth series.
That switch gave them access to a tool called the Cineflex heligimbal, a stabilization system
for a helicopter-mounted camera.
The heligimbal delivered the smooth sweeping scenic shots that defined the epic look of that series.
But it also let them film individual animals from a kilometer up in the sky, and zoom way
in to follow them without the noise of the chopper scaring them off.
And that changed the way they could capture behaviors like hunting.
GUNTON: If you look at how people shot and edited hunting sequences, because of the nature
of where you had to put the camera, you could never get long continuous shots because you
would you get a shot on a tripod, the wolf would run off, you had to jump up and get
in the land rover, run across, put the tripod down and get another shot.
So it always had to be quite edited and quite constructed.
Compare that to the wolf hunt in Planet Earth.
GUNTON: Once that wolf started hunting you could just fly along, keep your distance and
in one shot, you just see how that drama played out.
And you just do not know what's gonna happen: is it gonna stumble, is gonna catch it, is
the little caribou gonna run away, is it gonna stumble?
It was so gripping because it was unmediated.
The Cineflex system required digital cameras because it separates the lens from the camera's
data storage, which at the time was digital video cassette tape.
You just can't do that with film.
The 400mm zoom lens is mounted inside a series of rings called a gimbal, that isolate it
from the movement of the helicopter, with the help of small sensors called gyroscopes.
Those sensors detect changes in orientation so that motors can correct for those movements
almost immediately.
So the camera operator can control the lens with a joystick inside the helicopter
and zoom in without losing any stability.
Ten years later, that stabilization technology comes in smaller, much more affordable forms.
It's embedded in drones, and built into rigs that you can hold in your hands.
And that technological change aligned perfectly with what the BBC wanted to do with Planet Earth 2.
GUNTON: We wanted to push the proximity, getting close to the animals because we wanted to see
the world's landscapes, our planet, through the animals' eyes.
Gyro-stabilized drones provided more intimate aerials,
and handheld shots showed what it feels like to really move through these habitats.
WHITE: I think we've gone for a much more emotional narrative in these.
It's much more trying to put you in their world and what would that animal be feeling.
Trying not to be anthropomorphic about it, but just sort of taking the viewer on a journey
where they can start to relate to how that animal might work in that world.
It's a slightly warmer, closer take on Planet Earth.
Hollywood filmmakers have been able to get stabilized walking shots for decades using
a Steadicam.
That's a bigger, more complicated rig that stabilizes the camera with balanced weights
and a spring-loaded arm attached to a vest that the operator wears.
Those long walk-and-talk shots that ER and The West Wing made famous,
those are all Steadicam shots.
The producers of Planet Earth 2 used Steadicams for a few sequences, like this footage of
a serval cat hunting in South Africa.
But it most cases Steadicams have been too cumbersome, expensive, or inflexible for shooting
in the wild.
Instead, the Planet Earth 2 team relied heavily on smaller handheld stabilizers.
Like the heligimbal, these rigs have gyroscopes that measure orientation along 3 axes and
motors that counteract those movements.
These rigs are so small and versatile they can often replace several other tools like
sliders and cranes.
WHITE: On some of the trips, like the trip to film the penguins, we took a crane with
us, we talked about taking sliders.
The reality is it didn't come out of the box.
Everything was done with a cameraman holding a camera on a gimbal.
In an environment like that, just to be able to move around quite freely, have a camera
that you can put down at penguin level but be able to pick up and get above the penguins
was just so useful.
Handheld stabilizers are most effective when you can get close to the animal, and a lot
of animals don't like that, so they'll never replace tripods.
Rather they add to the rapidly growing arsenal of tools becoming available not just to pros,
but to everyone, to be able to get shots that look like hollywood blockbusters.
But ultimately, what makes a movie great isn't just the pictures, it's the story.
The Natural History Unit's style has shifted over time from more educational to more cinematic,
but they haven't forgotten that.
GUNTON: The imagery of course is that first thing that catches the eye, catches the attention
but without the revelations the storytelling brings, in the end, it palls quite quickly.
So no technology will ever replace the ability to be able to tell a story that grips and
fascinates and emotionally connects with an audience.

Unicorn Chrome Mask - Peel Off Brighter Skin | Bonvinant - Duration: 2:56.
Hey there, Im Rena & todays video will show you a product that unicorns use to get that
glowy bright skin.
This is the original chrome peel off mask by Bon vivant
Its brand new and I have not yet seen any reviews or blog posts about it.
So heres my take on this peel off mask!
Its a really cool chrome shade when applied and contains diamond and white pearl extract
which helps brighten the skin.
Even the packaging reflects off rainbows and makes me want to stare at it all day.
Whats cool about this mask is when its in the jar, the product is just a bright white,
but once applied it turns into a really cool chrome metallic shade.
For this video I am using a silicon brush from the same brand.
And I say this anytime I demo this in a video, but if you are an avid face mask user, then
you need this brush.
It makes applying those messy drippy masks a lot easier and evenly.
I use this brush anytime I am using any masks at all, and it honestly got to the point where
one of my brushes started to become bent because i over used it so much
The instructions for this chrome masks are pretty simple, just apply it with either clean
fingers or a brush onto a clean face.
If you want to peel off the mask easier remember to apply moisturizer before hand, and of course
don't apply the mask to the eye area or brows.
There is alcohol in this product so it has a pretty strong alcohol scent when its first
applied, and thats actually one of the biggest cons I have for this peel off mask.
In the jar the product is more droopy but once applied to the face and spread out a
little bit, it is a more thick and tacky texture.
so it didn't drip onto my face when I did spread it out.
The thicker this mask is applied, the longer it will take to dry.
Overall I waited about 25 to thirty minutes until it was completely dried.
The peeling process is always my favorite, and was shockingly painless.
It was probably one of the least painful masks Ive used.
The chrome gel really settled into all the crevices and pores into my skin.
As you can tell from the footage, You can literally just see all my skin texture and pattern
after I peeled it off.
& After using this mask and doing my usual skincare routine with like toner and moisturizer
I did notice my skin was glowier and just looked healthier overall.
This is a mask I would use at night since I did notice a bit of redness on my cheeks
from peeling off the mask, but it did fade after about 20 minutes

No BS Test - Rox Speed Pivoting Handlebar Risers - Duration: 2:55.
⦁ If you take any random dual-sport or trail bike, chances are that the handlebar to footpeg
relationship on that bike is not setup for riding aggressively in the attack position.
⦁ That's because most of these types of bikes like the CRF230, DRZ400, XR250 and XR400
are designed for learners and recreational riders who probably won't be wide open and
hunched in the attack position for the entire ride.
⦁ Now, that's fine for one of those learners or purely recreational riders because the
standard peg and handlebar setup is usually acceptable for a riding day involving lots
of sitting and only moments of standing while getting over obstacles.
⦁ But for those of us who do silly things like ride a trail bike or dual-sport aggressively,
it's not that great to have the pegs and handlebars so close together, as it leaves the rider
with minimal leverage for controlling the pitch of the bike.
Standard risers generally actually make this worse, as the direction they move the handlebars
is straight back at the rider, further hindering the rider's leverage over the bike.
⦁ Moving the handlebars straight forward really opens the bike up for standing and
more closely matches the cockpit of a competitive enduro bike.
The go-to method for accomplishing this is to install Rox Speed Pivoting handlebar risers
rolled straight forward.
⦁ I've been using these 2" Rox Speed Pivoting Risers on my 230 since 2014 and haven't had
a single issue.
Before I ever ordered them, I had my doubts that they would stay in place or stay in one
piece because of all the added leverage of using them to move the handlebars forward.
⦁ Well, they've now been in every single one of my CRF230F videos for the past two
years and I've never experienced any slippage, flex, or bending from them so it is certainly
safe to give them some praise.
⦁ The price is still pretty steep on these things at about $75, but the quality is undeniable
and the improvement in the aggressive riding stance is actually one of the most noticeable
upgrades I've done to this CRF230F so I must say that it was worth it for me.
⦁ There are also now cheaper chinese knock offs of these two inch pivoting risers, and
I'll be reviewing those soon to see if they are a good alternative to the Rox Speed brand
risers.

2015-2017 F-150 Airaid MXP Series Cold Air Intake (5.0L) Review & Install - Duration: 5:55.
Hey, everybody, I'm Justin with americanmuscle.com, and welcome to my detailed overview of the
Airaid MXP cold air intake system with the Synthaflow oiled filter, available for your
2015 and newer 5.0-liter powered F-150.
Well, you guys should know the deal by now.
We're gonna talk about what you can expect as far as benefits when running the Airaid
kit.
We're gonna talk about what's included as far as construction and materials.
And then last but not least, we'll quickly break down the install.
And on the surface, you're looking at a very straightforward one out of three wrenches
on the difficulty meter, with some more detail later in the video.
The MXP from Airaid is going to appeal to the 5.0-liter truck owners out there looking
to get their hands on one of the nicest cold air intakes in the category and don't mind
spending top dollar to get that.
Now, this is also gonna be a pretty versatile intake being able to run with or without a
tune, in addition to being able to run with a sealed enclosure like it is now or removing
that top on the airbox and being able to run as an open element style filter.
So the Airaid stuff continues to be a top choice here at americanmuscle.com for both
Mustang and F-150s alike, and it's pretty easy to see why, at least in my personal experience.
Their intake continues to be one of the nicer options you can get your hands on, as we already
pointed out.
They fit great.
And for the most part, they're gonna perform as advertised.
And I say for the most part in regards to performance because Airaid's claims with this
particular intake for the 5.0-liter truck are a little lofty.
In fact, they're claiming 19 horsepower, 26-foot pounds of torque at the rear wheels, with
this no tune intake installed onto your 5.0-liter truck.
Frankly, I just don't think that's gonna happen.
The more realistic expectation when bolting something like this up is going to be high
single digits, low double digits, and that's what I would expect here with the MXP.
Yes, ultimately a tune would help uncork some of the true potential of the MXP intake along
with your 5.0-liter powerplant, but that is going to be your call at the end of the day.
One good thing to point out, however, with this intake is that, yes, it is 50-state legal,
it is CARB certified, does come along with the matching sticker, of course, so you don't
have to worry about catching any flack from your local authorities.
But as always, guys, there's more to just an aftermarket cold air intake than power
alone.
There are some other cool benefits to talk about.
One in particular with the MXP here is very unique, and that is the removable lid.
I like this for two big reasons.
First and foremost, it's gonna allow you to check the condition of the Synthaflow oiled
filter at any time, just letting you know when it's time to clean this thing.
The second reason I like this is that it does give you some options on how you want to run
the cold air.
Leave it on for a sealed enclosure.
It's gonna help keep things quiet, but it's also gonna help combat some of the high engine
bay temperatures that can oftentimes hurt your intake air temps.
Now, pop that top off, and you're instantly looking at an exposed element type intake
here which is gonna deliver a whole bunch of noise that is oftentimes awesome, especially
with the 5.0-liter truck, with the slight drawback of maybe slightly higher intake air
temperatures.
Either way, guys, the best part is, it's only four screws you have to remove to remove or
put this thing back on, making it very easy to switch at any point.
Let's talk a little bit more about the construction and materials with the Airaid because obviously
I'm on record saying how nice this thing is, and I'm definitely not lying, guys.
I really enjoy these intakes.
Roto-molded plastic intake tube and matching airbox here, also includes some ducting which
will help draw in fresh cool air from the front of the truck, something that I really
enjoy.
Inside the roto-molded plastic intake box, you will find one of Airaid's signature filters.
This is their Synthaflow oiled filter.
It is washable, it is reusable, and obviously you do have to re-oil this thing to properly
maintain it.
Some of you guys might have your own hangups about using an oiled filter on your truck,
and if that is the case, then you can always check out one of Airaid's Synthamax dry filters
instead.
We do also offer those here on the site.
But either way, guys, the Synthaflow filter that is included with this particular kit
is one of Airaid's most popular options in their lineup.
Does feature a synthetic nanoweb material and captures particles down to two microns
in size.
How small is that?
I don't know, pretty damn small.
I'm sure it'll filter everything just fine.
And in my opinion, there's really no drawback to using an oiled filter on your 5.0-liter
powered truck, as long as you're very careful not to over-oil the filter when cleaning.
You are definitely getting a big boy intake in regards to price here.
As I pointed out at the top of the video, guys, this is a premium option, and as such,
you're dropping just over 400 bucks for the MXP from Airaid.
But, again, in my experience, you get what you pay for in this industry, and the Airaid
certainly doesn't disappoint there in regards to materials and of course the fitment.
And speaking of fitment, let's talk a little bit more about what you can expect when it
comes time to start wrenching.
Very straightforward stuff, guys.
We're calling it one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter.
We call it an hour on the site from start to finish, but I wouldn't be surprised if
most people can bang this one out in about 30 minutes or less, just like your favorite
pizza joint.
Now, you're gonna need some basic hand tools.
I'm talking Phillips-head screwdriver, flathead screwdriver, 8-millimeter socket, 10-millimeter
socket, and the one random tool that you will need to help you out here that you might not
have in your arsenal is a set of torques bits, just to help you remove that mass airflow
sensor.
So once you have everything you need to get started, remove that factory intake.
Very simple stuff there, guys.
Disconnect it at the throttle body.
And I like to kind of remove everything in one piece.
Once that is out of the way, go ahead and assemble your Airaid out of the truck.
Again, just get everything together, get it put together, and then install it in one piece
as well.
Trust me.
This is the easier way to do things.
Once you have everything in place, just tighten everything down, and you should be good to
go.
The quality of build and fitment with Airaid products continue to make them one of my favorite
for both Mustang and F-150 owners alike, and the MXP simply just carries on that tradition.
You're getting a small bump in power here, a nice little underhood appearance bump as
well, and last but not least, you do got some versatility with that removable top.

Presidents Day is being observed today, Feb. 20, 2017.
On Jan. 15, 1968, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed into law a bill that enumerated nine "legal public holidays" from New Year's Day to Christmas.
High on the list was the birthday of George Washington, the nation's first president, which, under the law, would be observed henceforth on the third Monday in February — thus, in 2017, on this day.
Washington's birth records show that he was born on Feb. 11, 1731. At the time, Britain's North American possessions, as the rest of the British Empire, followed the Julian calendar.
Since it did not observe leap years, that calendar had by then fallen 11 days behind the Gregorian one, which Catholic countries had adopted in 1582 and which is in use today.
In 1752, the British Empire switched to the Gregorian calendar. Since then, Americans born prior to 1752, including Washington, have had their birthdays reoriented to what they would have been under the Gregorian calendar.
Since, Feb. 11 under the Julian calendar would fall on Feb. 22 under the Gregorian one, his birthdate continues to be observed on the altered date.
Congress originally approved a federal holiday honoring Washington in 1879. As the first federal holiday to honor an American president, it was celebrated on Feb. 22 until being shifted under the Uniform Monday Holiday Act to the third Monday in February.
Initially, only government offices in Washington were closed; it was expanded in 1885 to include all federal offices. As a result, "Washington's Birthday" always falls between February 15 and 21 and never on the 22nd day of the month. (It will next be observed on this day in 2023.)
An early draft of the Uniform Monday Holiday Act would have renamed the holiday to "Presidents' Day" to honor the birthdays of both Washington and Abraham Lincoln, the nation's 16th president, but this dual approach failed in committee; the bill that signed into law kept the name as "Washington's Birthday."
Until the late 1980s, corporate businesses generally closed on this day, as they would, say, on Christmas Day. Late in that decade, however, with a push from advertisers, the term "Presidents' Day" began to be used widely. Today, many retail stores hold sales on this day, which is now called Presidents Day, without an apostrophe.
As on Martin Luther King Jr. Day in January, Columbus Day in October and Veterans Day in November, most delivery services outside of the U.S. Postal Service offer regular service on this day as well.
In addition, many schools hold classes on Presidents Day — although some schools, which used to close for a single day for both Lincoln's and Washington's birthday, now often close for the week for a "midwinter recess."

Andanar: Reporters were offered $1,000 for Davao Death Squad press conference - Duration: 2:03.
In a phone interview of CNN Philippines to Communications Secretary Martin Andanar, he
said that people from the opposition offered Senate reporters P50,000 to cover the press
conference of self-confessed Davao Death Squad leader SPO3 Arthur Lascañas.
Monday, in a press conference, Lascañas said that then-Mayor Rodrigo Duterte ordered the
DDS to kill suspected criminals in Davao City.
Andanar said, according to his source, the Senate reporters covering the press conference
were offered as much as $1,000.
"Nakakuha tayo ng report na as much as $1,000 ang pinamigay sa presscon na ito.
Meron daw pinagbibigyan ng ganito kalaking halaga ng pera para lang i-cover ito...
Pinagbibigyan daw ang reporters du'n sa kung saan nangyari," he said.
On the other hand, Andanar said he didn't know if the Senate reporters took the offer.
'Yun ang umiikot na storya, pero hindi naman sinabi na tinanggap.
Pero merong mga offer na ganung kalaking pera ang opposition para lamang pabagsakin ang
administrasyong ito at ipakalat itong storya ni SPO3 (Lascañas)," he said.

That video was one of five I co-wrote and directed for BBC Comedy in an attempt to get
a sketch show commissioned by BBC Three.
Spoiler alert!
It was never picked up.
In fact, I never even got a phone call or an email back, but one day they'll call...
One day.
Despite having the right to I never put this sketch on my YouTube channel because it wasn't made to be YouTubey.
There are certain rules and formulas I follow when writing a sketch for YouTube and I'll
make a video on that another time, but when writing this sketch, and most of the BBC ones,
I didn't apply that same logic because in my mind I was writing for a TV audience.
Among other things, it's slower paced so you don't have to watch it a second time to catch
all the jokes and it's just generally less intense and in your face so it won't annoy
a very relaxed TV audience and make them want to click away and leave the show all together.
I've got two more sketches from the flatlined BBC Comedy Pilot coming this week so I'll
save the rest of the story for those.

Its a really cool chrome shade when applied and contains diamond and white pearl extract
which helps brighten the skin.
Even the packaging reflects off rainbows and makes me want to stare at it all day.
Whats cool about this mask is when its in the jar, the product is just a bright white,
but once applied it turns into a really cool chrome metallic shade.
For this video I am using a silicon brush from the same brand.
And I say this anytime I demo this in a video, but if you are an avid face mask user, then
you need this brush.
It makes applying those messy drippy masks a lot easier and evenly.
I use this brush anytime I am using any masks at all, and it honestly got to the point where
one of my brushes started to become bent because i over used it so much
The instructions for this chrome masks are pretty simple, just apply it with either clean
fingers or a brush onto a clean face.
If you want to peel off the mask easier remember to apply moisturizer before hand, and of course
don't apply the mask to the eye area or brows.
There is alcohol in this product so it has a pretty strong alcohol scent when its first
applied, and thats actually one of the biggest cons I have for this peel off mask.
In the jar the product is more droopy but once applied to the face and spread out a
little bit, it is a more thick and tacky texture.
so it didn't drip onto my face when I did spread it out.
The thicker this mask is applied, the longer it will take to dry.
Overall I waited about 25 to thirty minutes until it was completely dried.
The peeling process is always my favorite, and was shockingly painless.
It was probably one of the least painful masks Ive used.
The chrome gel really settled into all the crevices and pores into my skin.
As you can tell from the footage, You can literally just see all my skin texture and pattern
after I peeled it off.
& After using this mask and doing my usual skincare routine with like toner and moisturizer
I did notice my skin was glowier and just looked healthier overall.
This is a mask I would use at night since I did notice a bit of redness on my cheeks
from peeling off the mask, but it did fade after about 20 minutes

Welcome to That Sci-Fi Show, My name is Jay and these are my top five
versions of Gwen Stacy.
But first,
I just want to let you guys know that
I'm feeling a little under the weather this week
That's why we're doing the voice over instead of the normal video

And now back to our feature presentaion.
Our first version of Gwen Stacy is, of course, Gwen from
Earth-616.
Widly considered the "main" Marvel universe,
This universe is similar to our world, with respect to
most historical events, but has some notable differences.
Gwen's creators were Steve Ditko and Stan Lee and she
first appeared in comics in 1965.
She's dipcted an ordinary girl, and Peter Parker's first
true love.
He meets her at college where she's a beauty
queen, and one of the popular girls.
And the fans DID NOT like her at the time.
Throughout her story arc, she is unaware that Peter Parker is
Spider-Man.
She finds it out only just before her death.
Their love story is a difficult one,
with many disappointments and misunderstandings, but her
sudden and controversial death helps Peter understand how much
he really loved her.
How's that for a Valentine's Day messege?
Stacy played an important role in Peter Parker's
development as a character.
Her death is often said to be the end of the Silver Age of
Comics, and the beginning of the Bronze Age – with more,
realistic problems and deeper, darker issues developing within
comic book plots and more of the tragedy of the real world depicted.
Writer and editor Gerry Conway decided to get rid
of the Gwen Stacy character, and created a storyline in
which Stacy dies when Green Goblin drops her from the George Washinton
bridge.
We discussed this in our last video here.
Self promotion for the win.
There is also a very controversial story about
Gwen's affair with Norman Osborn, the Green
Goblin's alter ego.
The short version is that she became
pregnant with twins and Osborn considered them to be
his heirs.
Gwen's decision to raise the children with Peter
and to prohibit Osborn from seeing them caused her
kidnapping at the hands of the Green Goblin and eventually
led to her death.
The 2nd version of Gwen Stacy we'll discuss is from the
alternate universe designated Earth-1610, otherwise know as
the Ultimate universe.
This is the story told in the Ultimate
Spider-Man series and in this version, Stacy had no close
affection or romantic relationship with Peter.
After police Captain George Stacy was murdered by a burglar
wearing a Spidy suit, Gwen was taken in by Aunt May, creating even more tension
between Peter and Mary Jane.
Gwen had befriended Peter after an incident where she pulled a knife
on Kong, a classmate who was bullying Peter.
In this universe, Peter was in a romantic relationship
with Mary Jane, although his friendship with Gwen id make Mary
Jane very jeaous, eventually leading toa temporary break up
They both mourned Gwen's death when Carnage, a life-sucking
parasite, killed her.
However, Gwen was sort-of recreated showed up on Peter's doorstep
one night.
I don't want to spoil too much so if you'd like to know more
then give this a series a try.
This version of Gwen Stacy was created by Brian Michael Bendis
and Mark Bagley in 2001
Our third version of Gwen Stacy is Spider-Gwen from
Edge of Spider-Verse from 2014, created by Jason Latour and
Robbi Rodriguez.
This version of Gwen is interesting becuase she's Spider-Woman,
so the radioactive spider bit her, not Peter.
Peter was her classmate, a gifted
but bullied young man (as he is often depicted).
He was inspired by Spider-Woman and longed for superpowers, so
he started some dangerous experiments.
He turns into the Lizard he died in a battle with Spider-Woman.
His last words were "I just wanted to be special".
The comic is not based around
Peter Parker's story, but around the world and life of
Gwen Stacy and her female friends from The Mary Janes,
a rock-band.
It's the story from the female perspective,
perhaps, making the Marvel universe more diverse
and bringing in the long sought after female readers.
As Spider-Woman, Gwen fights crime,
within her universe, and also travels to other worlds and
meets other versions of Peter Parker on a variety of occasions.
The fourth version of Gwen Stacy we'll talk about today is the character from the crossover
The Age of Apocalypse from 1995.
In this series, Gwen is not a superhero; neither is it the story
of Peter Parker.
But in this crossover, the main theme is devoted to the
X-Men, while Gwen is an American exchange student in Paris, who,
during serious illness, meets Dr. Donald Blake, also known as Thor.
But in this story, Dr. Blake is unaware of his divine background
or his superpowers, as he has not discovered them or his hammer.
When he saves Gwen's life and treats her, she becomes his
bodyguard in his fight against the forces of Apocalypse.
In the crossover Gwen Stacy is
not a lead character, however she plays an important role
in fighting against the Apocalypse and in saving
Europe from devastation
And our fifth (and final) entry is a very touching reference to
Gwen Stacy is in the miniseries The House of M from 2005.
In this universe, Peter Parker is
Spider-Man, and he has been living a married life with
Mary Jane, however, he still mourns Gwen who died
at the George Washinton bridge during his fight
with the Green Goblin.
Years have passed since, but the
Scarlet Witch uses her powers to bring changes into the
Earth-616 continuity (for her own reasons related to the controversy with
X-Men) and this allows Peter the life he's always dreamed of.
Thus, Peter Parker finds himself happily married to Gwen Stacy
and having a little son.
This suggests that Peter has always
longed for Gwen to remain alive, and that she was indeed the love of his life
When the spell is lifted, Peter returns to his previous
life in Earth-616 continuity, where he is married to Mary Jane, but
the memories of the alternative life, of his life with Gwen and
their son, remain.
This is a dramatic scenario created
by Brian Michael Bendis and Olivier Coipel (which I REALLY hope I'm pronouncing correctly.)

DeMarcus Cousins joins Wilt Chamberlain as both centers were traded during All-Star Weekend - Duration: 2:08.
The blockbuster deal Sunday night sending DeMarcus Cousins to New Orleans from Sacramento stunned the NBA, but it is not the first time a superstar center has been traded at the NBA All-Star Game.
Wilt Chamberlain was dealt from the Warriors to his hometown Philadelphia 76ers a few hours after the 1965 All-Star Game in St. Louis. Chamberlain scored 20 points and grabbed 16 rebounds as the West fell to the East, 124-123. But the specter of the trade was looming and dominated the All-Star festivities, completely overshadowing the game.
Chamberlain had led the Warriors to the NBA Finals the previous season but things fell apart quickly in San Francisco. The few fans that did show up to the Cow Palace weren't kind to Chamberlain, blaming him for the team's 11-33 record at the All-Star break. In addition to poor attendance, owner Franklin Mieuli was having money problems.
So Chamberlain was sent back home to Philly, in its second season as the Sixers after relocating from Syracuse, for three no-name players (Connie Dierking, Paul Neumann and Lee Shaffer) and $150,000.
Mieuli and Sixers co-owner Ike Richman closed the deal huddled in a stairway at a postgame All-Star party held at Stan Musial's restaurant.
"Chamberlain is not an easy man to love and the fans in San Francisco never learned to love him," Mieuli said. "Wilt is easy to hate. People came to see him lose."
Chamberlain had mixed feelings on returning home to Philly.
Like Wilt Chamberlian 50 years before him, DeMarcus Cousins is traded at the NBA All-Star Game.

"As far as I was concerned," Chamberlain said. "The 76ers were the old Syracuse Nationals, which was a team I hated. Going back home was nice, but I had fallen in love with San Francisco, and I was rather sad to leave."
Wilt's impact in Philly was immediate. The Sixers upset Oscar Robertson and the Royals in the first round of the playoffs then took the defending champion Celtics to a Game 7 before falling in the East finals.
The Big Dipper eventually built up enough chemistry by the 1966-67 season with 76ers star Hal Greer and 1965 first-round pick Billy Cunningham to win a then-record 68 games, finally end the Celtics' eight-year run as NBA champions with a five-game victory in the East finals and win the title against — you guessed it — the San Francisco Warriors.

Four suspects sought in connection to Kim Jong Nam's death - Duration: 1:18.
Investigators are looking for four North Korean men who flew out of Malaysia the same day Kim Jong Nam, the North Korean dictator's outcast half-brother, apparently was poisoned at an airport in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysian police said Sunday.
Since Kim's death last week, authorities have been trying to piece together details of what appeared to be an assassination. Malaysian police have so far arrested four people carrying IDs from North Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam.
One of the suspects in custody, an Indonesian woman, told investigators that she was duped into thinking she was part of a comedy show prank.
Kim Jong Nam, the North Korean dictator's outcast half-brother, was poisoned to death.

On Sunday, Malaysia's deputy national police chief, Noor Rashid Ibrahim, said four more suspects were on the run. He said the men were North Korean and had flown out of the country last Monday, when Kim died.
"I am not going disclose where they are," he told a room packed with journalists, adding that Interpol was helping with the investigation. Noor Rashid showed photographs of the four men, who were traveling on regular — not diplomatic — passports and are ages 33, 34, 55 and 57. He also said there was a fifth North Korean man whom authorities wanted to question.
