Gunslingers have rapidly become one of my favorite types of poi moves.

They're a rapid, visually dynamic, and challenging subset of poi moves that involve spinning

the poi by holding them mid-tether.

I'll tell you a secret that helped me understand gunslingers better and that I hope helps you:

gunslingers are really just short meteors.

If you can do one-handed poi tricks, most or all of that knowledge will transfer over.

The difference, of course, is that in a gunslinger you have to switch your grip from the standard

for poi with the handle held in the hand to a grip part-way along the length of the tether.

In this first video, we'll tackle how to make this switch.

The first thing to identify when performing gunslingers is where the point of balance

is for the set of poi you're using.

You can think of the point of balance as a pivot where the two ends of the poi are controlled

from.

/ For poi that have more or less even weight between handle and head, the point of balance

is easy to find--it's the midpoint of the tether.

For contact poi or other types of poi that have heavier heads than handles, the point

of balance is going to be closer to the head and will take some trial and error to find.

/ While it's not essential, the convention is to perform gunslingers in such a way that

the head of the poi is at the thumb end of the tether and the handles is at the pinkie

end.

A question that comes up early when I introduce gunslingers to people is what kind of poi

I use for performing them.

The short answer is that I have yet to come across a set of poi that I can't do gunslingers

with, but I do have some favorites.

For most of my training, I've been using a set of podpoi with capsule handles from

Flowtoys.

I find that training with a set of poi that have more or less even weight between heads

and handles is a huge help and these have the added benefit of being really soft for

when complicated moves go awry.

I'd highly recommend training with a similar set.

With that in mind, there are two types of entry into gunslingers: I call them the slide

and the wrap.

With that in mind, there are three types of entry into gunslingers: I call them the slide,

the wrap, and the release.

/ The slide consists of simply releasing the tether and allowing it to slide around the

hand until it is regripped at the balance point and it can be done with the palm pointed

up or down.

/ To do the palm up slide, spin the poi outward relative to you.

Let the poi wrap around the knuckle side of your hand with the palm pointed up and as

the poi swings around in front of your chest, release the handle to initiate the slide.

You may have to isolate slightly in order absorb some of the momentum of the poi.

/ As the poi continues to rotate outward, grab the tether at the balance point and you're

good to go!

/ Because the tether slides around the hand freely in this entry, it can be used for poi

with any balance point.

You simply have to re-grip the poi at the right spot.

/ To do the palm side down, spin the poi inward relative to you with your palm pointed down.

Again, allow the poi to fully wrap around your knuckle side and as the poi head is on

its way outward, release the handle and allow the tether to slide around your hand.

/ Once the handle has cleared the edge of your hand, re-grip the poi tether and rotate

your wrist around in the same direction as the poi is turning.

/ Coming from a palm down slide, you'll almost always want to lead pinkie-end with

your gunslinger if you enter a weave.

We'll talk more about what that means in a future video.

/ Next, there is the wrap.

This by far is my favorite entry!

You'll begin this entry spinning the poi outward away from you with your palm down.

/ You're going to let the poi tether wrap over the knuckle side of your hand twice before

you release the handle.

It's going to take a small flick of the wrist to get the handle moving, but once it

does you'll find the two ends of the poi spin around your hand like the wheel of a

pulley.

/ This allows the handle end of the tether to unwrap from your hand.

When it comes free, re-grip the tether.

/ This entry works really well for poi that have a balance point that is not mid-tether,

so it's a great choice for contact poi.

If your heads and handles are evenly weighted, however, you'll either find a bit of a challenge

finding a grip on your balance point or you'll need really long poi to get there easier.

/ Finally, there is the release.

This can take a lot of different forms, from throws to contact rolls but more or less consists

of releasing any active grip on the poi and then re-gripping it either mid-throw or mid-roll.

/ When doing contact rolls it can be especially tricky to orient this entry in a way that

you keep the head to the thumb end.

So now that we've covered entries, how do we exit gunslingers?

/ The easiest approach is to release some of the tension on our grip and allow the head

of the poi to pull the tether through our hand until we can re-grip the handle.

It's pretty straightforward and not always elegant, but it gets the job done.

/ Another approach is to essentially do the slide, but in reverse out of a gunslinger

weave.

We'll go more in depth on gunslinger weaves in a later video, but suffice it to say, this

is done with the palm pointed down in a forwards weave and with the palm pointed up in a reverse

weave.

/ Release the tether and pause the hand's movement.

The entire poi will swing around the hand and either the handle or a point on the tether

near the handle will make contact with the palm.

Close the grip to return the poi to its default position.

Practice these entries and exits diligently--no matter what other gunslinger tricks you learn,

these are your entrances and exits to this world so they're essential to master.

Sir Winston Churchill was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom during World War II.

His active and steadfast resistance to Adolph Hitler, along with his vehement refusal to even consider

defeat, helped inspire his nation—and the world—to victory against Nazi Germany.

But there was a battle which Churchill hid from the world.

He struggled with what he called "The Black Dog" of depression.

Researchers and biographers have since diagnosed him as someone who has struggled, regularly,

with major episodes of depression.

Now consider this: the full weight of Europe was on his shoulders.

He was, in many respects, a lone man standing against the full onslaught of Adolph Hitler.

In a speech delivered to the House of Commons on June 4, 1940, Churchill rallied his beleaguered

nation with these words: "We shall go on to the end.

We shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing

confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be.

It's a phone and email scam that

targets the

elderly... and it works.

criminals have stolen

millions of dollars from

grandparents or

family member and it tends to be

an older

family member and inform them

that one of their

younger family members is stuck

or in need of

convincing arguments such as a

family member

being stuck in jail or a foreign

country, or injured

and in the hospital.

Recently, the Hawaii BBB says

it's heard of about a

dozen reported cases so far this

year.

It builds on that fear and that

fear for your family

member and that's kind of what

blindly react.

But the common theme in all of

the scenarios... you

need to wire money.... and

government and Western

Union agreed to a $586 million

settlement to give

back money to scam victims who

wired money.

The government claimed Western

Union had known

since 2004 that scammers were

using the

company to commit fraud, but

kept taking people's

money anyway.

The settlement also requires the

company to

better train its employees to

look out for fraud and to

give clearer warnings to anyone

who wires money

The company says it is committed

to enhancing

its compliance programs and

protecting customers

who transfer money to friends,

family and

businesses.

Most often people feel like they

need to react quickly

to this and that's how it works

so well

Generally, Kama says, wiring

money to someone

you don't know should raise red

flags.

Live and Study in Japan

There are many schools in Japan, but this school has a strong mindset in developing human resources.

Many schools in Japan have been changing, as many foreign students are thinking about finding employment in Japan.

To achieve the vision of these students, FFLC is gathering human power from all over the world.

The diversity of countries, relationships between other countries,

and the variety of student nationalities are all very fascinating aspects of this school.

It's important for students to find "what their mission is, or their core" about their future work throughout their courses.

You can study different subjects and languages anywhere, but while you are young,

it's important to find your personal resolution.

So in my class, this is what I focus on.

Every Monday, there are people from different companies that teach us what it feels like working within a Japanese company.

All types of Japanese companies from different industries come to the International Professional Business Course, where I'm studying. Therefore, I can learn about Japanese companies.

I can feel what working in Japanese company is like,

and also we can communicate with Japanese people in class

Thanks to that, I am able to level up on my Business Japanese. That's what I really like about this school!

The city of Fukuoka right now is one of the "National Strategic Special Zones" which means the City has appointed special funds.

So if a foreign student wants to set up his business in Fukuoka, they can get funding and support.

To be honest, my room in Italy was smaller, so now I'm ok.

I can go from the dorm to the school in 15 minutes, so it's convenient.

I lived in Fukuoka for three years.

I really like travelling and I've been to many places and Fukuoka is a very easy place to live.

I feel that this is the place that fits me best. It's really easy to live here!

We are thinking to increase our manpower by about 20 to 30%.

We don't know if we can actually do it, but next year we are planning to hire 100 people.

By "next year", we mean hiring people who will start on April 2018. Among those, we would like to hire between 20 to 30 foreigners.

The 29th of this month to September 11th I will do an internship in a big real estate company,

and I'm really grateful to have this opportunity.

Most of the students in my class have already decided on an internship,

so I think FFLC gives you a great opportunity to have an internship and also prepare for it accordingly.

Entering school or entering in a company in Japan tends to usually happen in April.

So if you say your goal is April, then the year before in March,

you start preparing for job hunting.

There were 15 of us at the beginning of the course, and 3 students have already found full time employment.

The rest of us will all study so we can be the next.

of being Vice-Chancellor of Curtin University, your university.

and professional development opportunities, as well as some great chances to reconnect, share stories,

photos and even places.

From its beginnings half a century ago, the WA Institute of Technology, affectionately

known as WAIT, Curtin and all other institutions associated with Curtin's history, have shared

a unified ethos and one that is now Curtin's defining quality: Innovation.

It is all about you, a wonderful, human story of partnerships between individuals,

industry, business, government and

the valuable contributions that each and every one of you has made, to help create Western Australia's largest

ColourArte Stenciling with water colours by Sandee Setliff - Duration: 4:46.

First choose a stencil like Love Story, designed by Cathy Nichols by StencilGirl and then moisten your stippling brush in some water

Dab off any excess water on a dry paper towel

Then swirl your brush onto a dry cake of Twinkling H20's by ColourArte

then pounce your brush over the top of the stencil

Lift the stencil to see your progress

Repeat the process using a small brush for detailing

Layer colors for added interest

If you use too much water then the colors may bleed under the stencil

and if that happens to you then use a regular paintbrush to fix the oops...don't stress!

If you have enough brushes to designate one per color, that's great! It will save you time in between colors by not having to wash them out each time.

You can use the stipple brush direct to paper too like I did for the grass

I like to outline...like, everything! I used the stencil as a guideline for this part

but you can also free hand the tiny details

I always add words to my art journaling, sometimes a quote or sometimes just something that pops into my mind

This is the Love Story stencil after it was used and the paint has dried on it

I have added rubbing alcohol to a spritz bottle and marked it so I don't confuse it with water

Mist your stencil on the side where the paint is and the alcohol will re-activate the water colors.

Lay the stencil face down against the paper

and press, I use a paper towel when I do this to keep my hands a little cleaner

Then lift the stencil, if you have any bare spots, like I did...

then repeat the process

you can actually do this multiple times and move the stencil around on your paper as desired

Malaysian authorities denounce N. Korean ambassador's remarks as false - Duration: 2:36.

Malaysia's foreign ministry has slammed comments made by the North Korean ambassador,... calling

them false.... as tension bubbles between the two countries.

And as the probe into Kim Jong-nam's death rumbles on, there are some new developments.

It appears the North Korean man detained in Kuala Lumpur may have been the contact point

for four other North Korean suspects who are already back in Pyongyang.

Oh Jung-hee has the story.

The Malaysian foreign ministry issued a statement on Monday... saying that the remarks made

by North Korea's ambassador to Malaysia, Kang Chol, earlier in the day are false and deluded.

At a press conference after he was summoned to the Malaysian foreign ministry, Kang claimed

that the Malaysian police's probe into the death of the North Korean leader's half brother

Kim Jong-nam... could no longer be trusted.

He claimed that there must be some other power behind the probe... and called for a joint

investigation by Malaysian and North Korean authorities.

In response, the Malaysian foreign ministry denounced the remarks, saying they tarnish

Malaysia's reputation,... and criticized North Korea's diplomatic behavior.

Malaysian authorities also said that they had told Kang... the local police investigation

is being conducted in accordance with Malaysian law.

The Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak had said earlier... that the police investigation

is objective... and that he has complete trust in it.

Meanwhile, Ri Jong-chol, a North Korean man detained by Malaysian police after the death

of Kim Jong-nam, is being regarded by authorities as the local contact for the four other North

Korean suspects who fled Malaysia on the day of Kim's death.

Quoting an unnamed Malaysian security source,... the British daily Telegraph reported on Monday

that Ri arranged the logistics for the killing,... including booking hotels, taxis and setting

meeting points.

With his doctorate in chemistry,... he is also seen to have helped in making the toxic

substance that killed Kim Jong-nam.

The two female suspects arrested for the crime have told local police... that they thought

their actions were for a prank on a TV show.

The Indonesian suspect Siti Aisyah said... a Japanese and Malay speaking man recruited

her... and told her that... as part of the prank... she needed to touch a rich man's

cheeks, poke him and put sauce on his face.

She said she didn't think there was anything suspicious about it... and received roughly

75 U.S. dollars in return.

The other suspect, Doan Thi Huong from Vietnam, is known to have told the police a similar

story... and said she was offered 100 dollars for the task.

Abused Woman Goes To Authorities, Gets Deported - Duration: 8:23.

IMMIGRATION CONTINUES TO BE A HOT TOPIC HERE IN THE

UNITED STATES AND SOME ARE WONDERING WHETHER OR NOT

THINGS HAVE REALLY CHANGED UNDER TRUMPS ADMINISTRATION.

THERE WAS A STORY RECENTLY COVERED BY THE WASHINGTON

POST INVOLVING A WOMAN IN EL PASO, TEXAS WHO WAS

UNDOCUMENTED, BUT NEEDED TO GET SOME PROTECTION FROM THE

GOVERNMENT AGAINST HER ABUSIVE BOYFRIEND.

DURING A PROTECTIVE ORDER HEARING, JUDGE DID GRANT

HER CERTAIN PROTECTIONS TO ENSURE THAT HER BOYFRIEND

WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO COME AFTER HER, HOWEVER, IMMEDIATELY

AFTER THE HEARING, ICE OFFICIALS DETAINED HER AND DEPORTED HER.

LAST FALL, THE UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANT FILED HER FIRST

OF THREE POLICE REPORTS AGAINST HER LIVE-IN BOYFRIEND WHOM

SHE ACCUSED OF PUNCHING, KICKING AND CHOKING HER AND PULLING

HER HAIR.

AFTER FAILING TO STAB HER WITH A KNIFE, THE

BOYFRIEND THREW THE BLADE AT HER INSTEAD.

HE MISSED.

JESUS.

AN INTERESTING COMPONENTS OF THE STORY IS HOW WITNESSES

THAT WERE THERE, INCLUDING THE JUDGE, HAVE A COMPLETELY

DIFFERENT STORY OF HOW IT WENT DOWN COMPARED TO WHAT ICE

OFFICIALS ARE SAYING.

ICE OFFICIALS SAID THEY WERE NOT STAKING HER OUT, THERE

WEREN'T ANY ICE OFFICIALS IN THE COURTROOM, HOWEVER, THAT

DOESN'T SEEM TO BE THE CASE.

THERE WERE SIX ICE AGENTS

INSIDE THE COURTHOUSE THAT DAY, ONE INSIDE THE COURTROOM AND

OTHERS STANDING BY THE DOOR AND STAIRWELLS.

THEY ESCORTED HER DOWN THE HALLWAY, INTO THE ELEVATOR

AND OUTSIDE THE BUILDING, WHERE THEY DETAINED HER.

THAT WOULD BE TOUGH IF THEY WEREN'T IN THE BUILDING.

THE NARRATIVE OF THE ICE AFFIDAVIT DOES NOT MENTION

ANY CONTACT INSIDE THE COURTHOUSE OR THE COURTROOM.

IN FACT, THE AFFIDAVIT SAID AGENTS SAW THE WOMAN EXITING

THE EL PASO COUNTY COURTHOUSE AND PROCEEDED TO WALK ALONG

THE SIDEWALK ON SAN ANTONIO AVE.

AGENTS IDENTIFIED THEMSELVES AND QUESTIONED IDG, THE WOMAN,

WHO ADMITTED TO BEING A MEXICAN CITIZEN WHO WAS IN THE

UNITED STATES WITH ILLEGAL STATUS.

YOU HAVE TO KNOW THE FULL STORY SO LET ME GIVE YOU ALL OF

THE FACTS.

APPARENTLY THIS WOMAN DID HAVE A CRIMINAL RECORD, ARREST FOR

ASSAULT, VIOLATING PROBATION, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, FALSE

IMPRISONMENT, POSSESSION OF STOLEN MAIL.

THAT IS INFORMATION THAT SOME OF YOU MIGHT THINK YES,

THEY SHOULD'VE DEPORTED HER.

THE WAY THEY DEPORTED HER IS PROBLEMATIC BECAUSE IN THE

STATE OF TEXAS, IF SOMEONE IS GOING TO COURT LOOKING FOR

PROTECTIVE ORDER, EVEN IF THE INDIVIDUAL IS UNDOCUMENTED,

THE STATE IS SUPPOSED TO PROTECT THAT PERSON AND LOOK OUT

FOR THEM REGARDLESS OF THEIR IMMIGRATION STATUS.

THE REASON WHY IS BECAUSE WE DON'T WANT TO CREATE A

SYSTEM IN WHICH PEOPLE CAN BE ABUSED OR HARMED IN ANY WAY

JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE UNDOCUMENTED.

IF YOU WANT TO MAKE A CASE THAT WE SHOULDN'T MAKE SPECIAL

EXCEPTIONS FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE CRIMINAL RECORDS AND THEYíRE HERE

ILLEGALLY, I HEAR YOU, BUT AT THE SAME TIME THE WAY THAT THIS

WENT ON HAS A CHILLING EFFECT ON OTHER PEOPLE WHO MIGHT NEED

HELP BECAUSE THEY ARE DEALING WITH ABUSE OR HARM AND ALL

OF A SUDDEN THEY ARE WORRIED ABOUT GOING TO THE

AUTHORITIES BECAUSE THEY MIGHT GET DEPORTED OR DETAINED.

AT THE END OF THE DAY, THE WHOLE THING ABOUT THEM

BICKERING ABOUT WHETHER THEY WERE ACTUALLY IN THE

BUILDING OR NOT, I AM NOT TOO CONCERNED ABOUT THAT.

EVEN THE PARTICULAR CASE, THIS IS A PERSON WHO HAS A

CRIMINAL RECORD, THAT IS THE PERSON WHO UNDER CERTAIN

CIRCUMSTANCES WOULD BE DEPORTED.

I'M NOT WORRIED ABOUT THE PARTICULAR CASE BUT THAT THIS

SORT OF THING COULD BE PRECEDENT-SETTING WHERE YOU HAVE

PEOPLE WHO ARE SKIRTING THE CURRENT LETTER OR SPIRIT OF THE

LAW, THE INTENT OF THE LAW, AND DOING WHATEVER THEY CAN

TO TRACK DOWN PEOPLE AND WE SAW THE WAVE OF TRAFFIC STOPS THAT

ICE HAD SET UP.

IN CITIES LIKE LA, WE HAD IT HERE TOO AND FOR THAT TO

BECOME MORE COMMON IS SCARY AND LIKE YOU SAID, CHILLING.

WHEN IT COMES TO THOSE CHECKPOINTS, IT IS REALLY

INTERESTING BECAUSE YOU HAVE TWO DIFFERENT NARRATIVES PLAYING

OUT.

ONE IS WHAT THE LATINO COMMUNITY IS SAYING ITíS HAPPENING

WHICH IS YES, THESE CHECKPOINTS EXIST AND IT IS PROBLEMATIC

BECAUSE NOW ALL OF A SUDDEN PEOPLE ARE STAYING HOME,

THEY DON'T WANT TO GO TO WORK OR OUT TO THE STORES.

THEY JUST WANT TO STAY PUT BECAUSE THEY ARE WORRIED

ABOUT THE CHECKPOINTS.

AT THE SAME TIME, ICE CONTINUOUSLY DENIES THAT THESE

CHECKPOINTS EXIST OR HAVE EVER HAPPENED.

IN THIS WASHINGTON POST

PIECE THEY TALKED ABOUT HOW THE CHECKPOINTS ARENíT HAPPENING, BASED

ON INDIVIDUALS I HAVE TALKED TO IN LOS ANGELES, I WENT TO ONE

PARTICULAR AREA IN LOS ANGELES WHERE THESE ICE CHECKPOINTS WERE

ALLEGEDLY HAPPENING AND ACTUALLY SPOKE TO A FEW BUSINESS

OWNERS BECAUSE I WAS CURIOUS IF IT WAS TRUE.

BUSINESS

OWNERS SAID YES, IT IS TRUE AND THEY ARE NOT ALL LATINOS.

ALL SORTS OF BUSINESS OWNERS WITH DIFFERENT BACKGROUNDS.

I DON'T KNOW WHY ICE IS DENYING IT, BUT IT SEEMS AS THOSE

THESE CHECKPOINTS ARE HAPPENING THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY AND

IT DOES HAVE A CHILLING EFFECT.

I WANT TO MAKE A SLIGHTLY BROADER POINT BECAUSE WE'VE

SEEN IN JUST THE PAST FEW WEEKS THE SORTS OF THINGS START

TO POP UP A LITTLE BIT MORE.

ITíS POSSIBLE THAT THEY ARE JUST RECEIVING MORE NEWS

COVERAGE, I CANNOT RULE THAT OUT BUT IT DOES SEEM LIKE THINGS

ARE CHANGING AND THERE ARE GOING TO BE UNFORTUNATELY COMMENTATORS

WHO ARE GOING TO ATTEMPT TO MENTALLY DISARM YOU AGAINST

THE THINGS THAT ARE CHANGING BY PULLING YOU INTO THINKING THAT

OBAMA HAD DONE THIS AND THIS IS THE WAY IT ALWAYS HAS BEEN.

FAMILY AND SUPPORT THEM, WELL, WE'VE ALWAYS HAD IT THAT WAY,

IT IS ALWAYS BEEN REALLY BAD BUT THAT IS A COMPLETE MISREADING

OF OUT WHAT IS HAPPENING STARKLY IN THE UNITED STATES.

YES, OBAMA DEPORTED A LOT OF PEOPLE.

HE DEPORTED MORE PEOPLE THAN GEORGE W.

BUSH BUT WHEN YOU BREAK DOWN WHAT THOSE DEPORTATIONS

ACTUALLY REPRESENTED, 80 OR 90% WERE PEOPLE WHO HAD

LITERALLY JUST CROSSED OVER THE BORDER LINE, WERE TAKEN WITHIN

50 MILES OF THE BORDER AND WERE SENT BACK.

YOU CAN SAY, WE SHOULDN'T DO THAT AND IT WOULD BE SAID

THAT IT TO THAT POINT BUT WHAT THAT IS IS NOT TAKING

SOMEONE WHO HAS BEEN IN THIS COUNTRY FOR DECADES,

PICKING UP FAMILIES, GOING INTO COURTHOUSES AND SETTING UP

TRAFFIC STOPS IN ILLINOIS AND SUPPORTING PEOPLE TO THIS A

FUNDAMENTALLY DIFFERENT THINGS AND YOU CAN CLOAK A LOT OF

TRUTH WITH STATISTICS.

THAT IS ONE OF THE PROBLEMS WITH STATISTICS.

THIS IS DIFFERENT AND WORSE.

THIS IS CHILLING TO PEOPLE'S ACTUAL MOVEMENT AND

ACTIVITIES AND THE PROBLEMS THAT WE HAVE WITH PRESIDENT

OBAMA'S IMMIGRATION POLICY SHOULD NOT BE USED TO QUOTE

THE TERRIBLE MOVES BEING MADE BY THE CURRENT ADMINISTRATION.

I SEE THAT ARGUMENT BEING MADE IN A VARIETY OF ISSUES

AND WITH DIFFERENT POLITICIANS PLAYING A ROLE.

OH, YOU CRITICIZE ONE POLITICIAN FOR DOING SOMETHING AND

THEN SOMEONE ELSE WANTS TO DISTRACT YOU FROM THAT BY

POINTING TO THE FLAWS OF ANOTHER DUCK

IS ALL THE SAME, THEY ARE ALL BAD.

THAT IS A RIDICULOUS WAY OF DEALING WITH A VERY REAL

ISSUE IN THE COUNTRY RIGHT NOW.

I DON'T THINK THAT IMMIGRATION IS AS BLACK AND WHITE AS

PEOPLE MAKE IT OUT TO BE THAT I DON'T THINK IT IS ALL GREAT

AND YOU SHOULD JUST OPEN THE BORDERS AND LET PEOPLE COME

INTO A GREATER PEOPLE ARE HERE ILLEGALLY IN THEIR

COMMITTING CRIMES, THEY SHOULD BE DEPORTED.

AT THE SAME TIME, I THINK A LOT OF PEOPLE IN THE COUNTRY HAVE

BEEN MISLED INTO THINKING THAT UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS PROVIDE

NOTHING OF VALUE TO SOCIETY, AND THAT IS NOT THE CASE.

ECONOMICALLY, THEY PROVIDE QUITE A BIT WHICH IS WHY STATES

LIKE CALIFORNIA WANT TO ENSURE THAT THEY PROTECT UNDOCUMENTED

IMMIGRANTS DIANE NOT TALKING ABOUT PEOPLE JUST CAN'T

SUPPORT HER, I AM TALKING ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN HERE

FOR DECADES TO HAVE LIVES AND FAMILIES AND BUSINESSES AND PAY

TAXES IN STATES LIKE CALIFORNIA WHERE WE HAVE SALES TAX.

THAT IS A HUGE PART OF OUR ECONOMY.

IT IS NOT CLEAR-CUT AND THAT IS PRECISELY THE REASON WHY

IMMIGRATION, FOR A LONG TIME HAS ALWAYS BEEN A BIG ISSUE

WHEN POLITICIANS ARE CAMPAIGNING BUT ONCE THEY GET ELECTED,

WELL, AN INTERESTING SITUATION HAS COME UP INVOLVING ARE

NOW PRESIDENT TRUMP AND HIS CONSTANT TRIPS TO MAR-A-LAGO

WHICH HE REFERS TO AS HIS WINTER WHITE HOUSE.

EVERY SINGLE WEEKEND SINCE HE GOT SWORN AND HE'S GONE

THERE AND IT HAS ACTUALLY HAD A NEGATIVE ECONOMIC IMPACT ON

BUSINESSES IN THE AREA.

PALM BEACH FLORIDA DOES HAVE SOME BUSINESSES, MANY OF

WHICH ARE ACTUALLY LOCATED AT THE MAINLAND AIRPORT THERE.

LET ME GIVE YOU THE DETAILS.

BECAUSE OF PRESIDENT TRUMPS TRIPS THERE,

THEY HAVE TO SHUT DOWN PARTS OF THE CITY AND AS A RESULT,

THE CITY HAS LOST 200,000 AND LOST FUEL SALES AT A LOCAL

AIRPORT IN A SINGLE FOUR-DAY VISIT THIS MONTH.

AND HEíS VISITED THREE TIMES, MAYBE FOUR TIMES AS LAST

WEEKEND.

75 NO-SHOWS AND A NEW RESTAURANT IN JUST ONE NIGHT,

$60,000 A DAY TO PAY OVERTIME TO SHARE STEFAN VIEWS WHO GOT

THE MANY CLOSED ROADS THAT HAVE THAT IS ABOUT 1.5

MILLION OVERALL SINCE THE ELECTION AND ALSO 250

PRIVATE FLIGHTS GROUNDED EVERY DAY.

WHAT IS HAPPENING?

WHERE PEOPLE MISSING OUT ON MONEY, WHETHER BUSINESS IS

SUFFERING?

SECRET SERVICE RULES RESTRICTING PRIVATE FLIGHTS OF GROUND

OPERATIONS AT PALM BEACH COUNTY AIRPORT AND LATONYA WERE MOST

ANOTHER BUSINESS OWNER SAYS IT'S A VERY BUSY AIRPORT WITH A

LOT OF SMALL BUSINESSMEN, BY THE WAY, THIS IS NOT A BUSINESS

OWNER THIS IS THE PALM BEACH COUNTY AIRPORT DIRECTOR.

HE SAYS IT'S A VERY BUSINESS AIRPORT WITH A LOT OF SMALL

BUSINESSMEN TRYING TO MAKE A LIVING.

YOU HAVE FLIGHT TRAINING, AERONAUTICS, PROPELLER

SHOP, PAY SHOPS, MAINTENANCE COMPANIES.

YOU HAVE ALL KINDS OF BUSINESSES GOING DOWN THERE.

ALSO, ACCORDING TO REPORTS, PRESIDENT TRUMPS WEEKEND

VACATIONS TO HIS PRIVATE CLUB IN FLORIDA HAVE COST TAXPAYERS

ALMOST AS MUCH IN A MONTH AS PRESIDENT OBAMA'S ENTIRE

TRAVEL SPENDING FOR A YEAR.

TRUMP HAS ALREADY SPENT $11.3 MILLION IN TAXPAYER DOLLARS

AND OBAMA HAD SPENT ABOUT $12 MILLION A YEAR IN HIS TRAVEL.

IT IS A VERY FASCINATING.

THAT IS TRUMP TRAVEL EXPENSES.

THAT IS NOT THE COST TO SECURE MELANIAíS RESIDENCE OR INCLUDING

THE COST TO SEND HIS SONS ON BUSINESS TRIPS AROUND THE GLOBE

TO GOLF DOWN TO SOUTH AMERICA WHICH IS BEEN HAPPENING.

EACH OF THOSE COST HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS.

LOOK, WE'RE NOT CRAZY PEOPLE.

WE KNOW THAT

PRESIDENTS WILL TAKE TRIPS AND THOSE TRIPS HAVE EFFECTS.

WHEN OBAMA VISITED LA MULTIPLE TIMES, THAT CAUSES PROBLEMS.

I DON'T KNOW IF IT WAS THE CAUSE MILLIONS OF DOLLARS WORTH OF

PROBLEMS BUT IT CAUSED SOME PROBLEMS.

WHEN HE GOES TO

MARTHA'S VINEYARD OR WHATEVER, WHEN BILL CLINTON WOULD GO

TO MARTHA'S VINEYARD, IT COST SOMETHING.

ALL THE TRIPS DO.

WE'RE NOT SAYING THAT PRESIDENTS CAN'T TAKE TRIPS.

OBVIOUSLY THEY'RE GOING TO DO THAT BUT DUDE STARTED ON

DAY ONE AND HASN'T STOPPED AND THIS IS A GUY BY THE WAY

WHO SPECIFICALLY CRITICIZED OBAMA FOR THAT CONSTANT

VACATIONS, SAID THAT HE WOULD NOT TAKE VACATIONS AND THE

How to Enter Gunslingers: Poi Gunslingers 101 Tutorial - Duration: 4:40.

Hi, I'm Drex from Drexfactor.com and this is Gunslingers 101.

Gunslingers have rapidly become one of my favorite types of poi moves.

They're a rapid, visually dynamic, and challenging subset of poi moves that involve spinning

the poi by holding them mid-tether.

I'll tell you a secret that helped me understand gunslingers better and that I hope helps you:

gunslingers are really just short meteors.

If you can do one-handed poi tricks, most or all of that knowledge will transfer over.

The difference, of course, is that in a gunslinger you have to switch your grip from the standard

for poi with the handle held in the hand to a grip part-way along the length of the tether.

In this first video, we'll tackle how to make this switch.

The first thing to identify when performing gunslingers is where the point of balance

is for the set of poi you're using.

You can think of the point of balance as a pivot where the two ends of the poi are controlled

from.

/ For poi that have more or less even weight between handle and head, the point of balance

is easy to find--it's the midpoint of the tether.

For contact poi or other types of poi that have heavier heads than handles, the point

of balance is going to be closer to the head and will take some trial and error to find.

/ While it's not essential, the convention is to perform gunslingers in such a way that

the head of the poi is at the thumb end of the tether and the handles is at the pinkie

end.

A question that comes up early when I introduce gunslingers to people is what kind of poi

I use for performing them.

The short answer is that I have yet to come across a set of poi that I can't do gunslingers

with, but I do have some favorites.

For most of my training, I've been using a set of podpoi with capsule handles from

Flowtoys.

I find that training with a set of poi that have more or less even weight between heads

and handles is a huge help and these have the added benefit of being really soft for

when complicated moves go awry.

I'd highly recommend training with a similar set.

With that in mind, there are two types of entry into gunslingers: I call them the slide

and the wrap.

With that in mind, there are three types of entry into gunslingers: I call them the slide,

the wrap, and the release.

/ The slide consists of simply releasing the tether and allowing it to slide around the

hand until it is regripped at the balance point and it can be done with the palm pointed

up or down.

/ To do the palm up slide, spin the poi outward relative to you.

Let the poi wrap around the knuckle side of your hand with the palm pointed up and as

the poi swings around in front of your chest, release the handle to initiate the slide.

You may have to isolate slightly in order absorb some of the momentum of the poi.

/ As the poi continues to rotate outward, grab the tether at the balance point and you're

good to go!

/ Because the tether slides around the hand freely in this entry, it can be used for poi

with any balance point.

You simply have to re-grip the poi at the right spot.

/ To do the palm side down, spin the poi inward relative to you with your palm pointed down.

Again, allow the poi to fully wrap around your knuckle side and as the poi head is on

its way outward, release the handle and allow the tether to slide around your hand.

/ Once the handle has cleared the edge of your hand, re-grip the poi tether and rotate

your wrist around in the same direction as the poi is turning.

/ Coming from a palm down slide, you'll almost always want to lead pinkie-end with

your gunslinger if you enter a weave.

We'll talk more about what that means in a future video.

/ Next, there is the wrap.

This by far is my favorite entry!

You'll begin this entry spinning the poi outward away from you with your palm down.

/ You're going to let the poi tether wrap over the knuckle side of your hand twice before

you release the handle.

It's going to take a small flick of the wrist to get the handle moving, but once it

does you'll find the two ends of the poi spin around your hand like the wheel of a

pulley.

/ This allows the handle end of the tether to unwrap from your hand.

When it comes free, re-grip the tether.

/ This entry works really well for poi that have a balance point that is not mid-tether,

so it's a great choice for contact poi.

If your heads and handles are evenly weighted, however, you'll either find a bit of a challenge

finding a grip on your balance point or you'll need really long poi to get there easier.

/ Finally, there is the release.

This can take a lot of different forms, from throws to contact rolls but more or less consists

of releasing any active grip on the poi and then re-gripping it either mid-throw or mid-roll.

/ When doing contact rolls it can be especially tricky to orient this entry in a way that

you keep the head to the thumb end.

So now that we've covered entries, how do we exit gunslingers?

/ The easiest approach is to release some of the tension on our grip and allow the head

of the poi to pull the tether through our hand until we can re-grip the handle.

It's pretty straightforward and not always elegant, but it gets the job done.

/ Another approach is to essentially do the slide, but in reverse out of a gunslinger

weave.

We'll go more in depth on gunslinger weaves in a later video, but suffice it to say, this

is done with the palm pointed down in a forwards weave and with the palm pointed up in a reverse

weave.

/ Release the tether and pause the hand's movement.

The entire poi will swing around the hand and either the handle or a point on the tether

near the handle will make contact with the palm.

Close the grip to return the poi to its default position.

Practice these entries and exits diligently--no matter what other gunslinger tricks you learn,

these are your entrances and exits to this world so they're essential to master.
