Making Harley Quinn's Club Dress-Suicide Squad | Part 1 - Duration: 14:51.

This video is brought to you by my supporters on Patreon.

Hi guys! So I'm here with my Harley Quinn

work log video.

I'm doing here

I'm doing her club dress from the Suicide

Squad movie.

To start off, I'm just taking down

all of my measurements. I've figured out

what I need.

You really only need to take the measurements

around your hips,

the length that you want it,

and across your chest.

But for

this one--because this is the only one that it doesn't

exact. It needs

to purposely be not exact.

I'll explain!

So. For across your chest,

you don't want to go like this and take this measurement.

It's not going to hang right. Her's hangs

in a loop,

with the fabric

kind of gathered right here and just

dangling. So you

want to make it longer

than normal. I'm trying to do about

probably 20 inches

because, when I go like this,

it hangs to about the length her's does.

You can kind of see how it hangs.

That's why you need it longer.

You don't want to just

go across here and then cut a loop because you're not going to have

that gather that her dress has.

So now I am moving onto figuring out

the

diamond sizes

and I think I got one down.

If you want to be exact to the movie, she's going to have

three

full black diamonds down the center

and the bottom row of her dress is going to be black diamonds

(full black diamonds)

and then the top row of her dress is

full gold diamonds

and half of the black diamonds. So

that's what I've been figuring out. Testing different

diamond sizes

by drawing them all on a piece of paper

and holding it up to myself and saying "yeah this is the right size"

or not.

I know I could measure it but I like to see it.

Anyways! Now I am moving onto tracing out

the pattern.

And then I'll try that on and see how that fits and how I like it.

I know the paper's not going to hang like the fabric is. If you have spare fabric

to make a mock-up then I recommend that.

But I don't so I'm sticking to fabric....

er, paper.

So I have finished

drawing it all out on paper.

I counted how many diamonds of each color there were.

(Like of full sizes and halves and stuff.)

So now I just have to...not cut all these out. I'll just use

this one.

This one I have right here. I'm going to cut this out using the

actual fabric now.

I also drew a line across the bottom--which also happens to be

where this paper ends in general--

for when I use the lining fabric. Which I'm not going to make diamond

shape out of. It's just going to be a full square

that goes underneath the dress.

So this one's going to be...

This is the length of that.

This entire thing is that one's (the lining's) template.

I might add a couple centimeters to these diamonds

as I cut them out. Just kind of

winging it. Like nothing super specific.

I have all the black diamond's cut out.

Moving onto the gold!

These are stacks of two

by the way.

And this is stacks of one because that's the center.

Alright! All of the diamonds are

cut out. There's two of each

on this section.

The same as I did for black, I did for the gold.

Now it's time to pin it all together.

So what I'm going to do to

start off sewing them,

is; I'm going to sew everything

in rows like this

together first.

And then

the other way.

To try to keep it as

straight and even as possible. But first

before I even do that, I want to

take this side and lay it out over here

so that I have the entire dress laid out.

So all of these are sewn together

in long strips

going this way.

I'm going to go ahead now and

sew them together this way.

Then it'll all be connected

and be one

piece of fabric... Er one

almost dress.

Sound Production: Crash Course Film Production #5 - Duration: 10:06.

You know what can make even the most entertaining YouTube video really frustrating?

Bad sound.

That is, for audiences who don't rely on closed captioning.

Like, what if my voice was all garbled with static, or if my words weren't synced up

to the video right now?

Annoying, right?

You might look away from a screen if the visuals are jarring, but you pretty much always hear

a film – whether it's dialogue that was recorded on set, or a sweeping score added

in post-production.

And the sad thing is: you don't often notice really good sound recording and design.

Even though it takes just as much technical know-how and artistry as visual storytelling does.

When sound production is most successful, you're not thinking about the quality of

the sound at all.

You're feeling it.

You're pulled into the story and living in the world of the film.

[Intro Music Plays]

Let's start with the basics: the audience is gonna want to hear the characters they're watching.

And that all starts with the sound department on set, which is usually a small crew of two

to three people.

Its head is the Sound Mixer, also known as the Production Sound Mixer, Location Sound

Recordist, Sound Engineer, or just the "sound guy."

This person usually supplies all the sound equipment for the production, and is responsible

for recording all the sounds on set.

Every space has unique acoustics, so a good sound mixer will try to record as much as

possible to make the world of the film feel real.

That includes the sounds actors make in the scene being filmed – like dialogue...

Batman: Where's Dent? Joker: Those mob fools want you gone so they can get back to the way things were.

Joker: But I know the truth. There's no going back.

Joker: You've changed things... forever.

...slurping their tea...

[slurp]

...or foot stomps as they jog down a street.

[footsteps as Marion chases Indy]

Plus, it includes wild sound, which is any extra lines that are said or noises that are

intentionally created without the camera rolling, to be added into the movie in post-production.

And lastly there's room tone, the atmospheric sound in a space filled with silent actors,

crew, and set dressing.

Having room tone helps the sound editors make the world feel authentic and consistent.

The sound department's second-in-command on set is the boom operator, or boom op, for short.

This is the person you'll see holding a microphone on a long boom pole out over the actors.

Actors will often have small body mics, also known as lavalier mics,

This is mine... it's not hidden.

But the boom op is working to capture sound from everyone and everything in each scene.

To do their job well, they have to really know the script and the blocking, or how the

actors will physically move through a scene.

That way, they can position the boom in the best place to pick up sound, while keeping

the mic and its shadow out of the camera's view.

On larger sets, there might be a third person on the sound crew: the utility sound technician,

also known as the second assistant sound.

This person helps with a bunch of stuff, like: equipment maintenance, mic placement, cable

management, keeping everyone quiet while filming, or even operating a second boom.

Now, I already mentioned the two main mics you'll find on a film set: the boom mic

and the body mic.

But you have to think about a lot more than just where you put a microphone.

When you're speaking, you're pushing air through your vocal folds out into the world.

That vibrates other air molecules, making sound waves.

So, microphones nearly always have a windscreen to help record clean sound, and not just loud,

whooshing noises from the air.

It muffles air being blown directly at it without affecting the mic's ability to pick up sound.

A small windscreen is usually enough on an enclosed set, or on a soundstage, like this one.

Outdoors, you might need more intense windscreens.

And here's a perfect example of how great film crews are at naming things:

The big ones are called dead cats… because, well, just look at them.

The sound department not only has to make sure they're recording good sound, but they

have to pay close attention to what they don't want to capture.

And they can do that with microphone patterns.

A microphone pattern is a shape around a mic where it picks up sound best, and there are

a few standard types.

Just like the camera department has to change lenses, the sound department might have to

change mics from scene to scene.

First, you have omni-directional mics, meaning the mic is recording sound coming at it from

every direction.

There are a lot of situations where this is ideal, like for recording a conversation where

people are sitting and talking all around a table.

But on a set, you only want to hear the actors on camera, and not all the crew behind the scenes.

So this mic wouldn't be the best choice.

Bidirectional mics pick up sound directly in front of and behind them, while rejecting

sound coming from the sides.

Their sensitivity pattern looks kind of like a figure 8.

These mics are useful for interviews or duets – any time when two people are directly

across from each other, with the mic in the middle.

Then, there are cardioid mics, named because their pattern is kind of shaped like a heart.

They pick up more sound in the direction you're pointing them, plus a little bit from behind

and on the sides.

A cardioid pattern is good for recording lines from one person at a time, up close.

So lavalier mics – the ones physically attached to actors – are usually cardioid or omnidirectional.

If you want something a little wider than a typical cardioid, but not as wide as an

omnidirectional, there are subcardioid mics.

Or, say you're trying to record a conversation where a bunch of people are huddled together

and talking.

So you have several mics near each other, and you want each one to only pick up one person.

In this case, a supercardioid or hypercardioid might be your best options, because they have

even more directional pickup.

But the downside is that they also have more sensitivity directly behind them, so they

can pick up things you don't want to hear in the final film, like chatter from the crew.

If you need something even more directional, like for the end of a boom pole, you can put

something called an interference tube over a supercardioid or a hypercardioid mic.

This ideally makes unwanted sound waves from the sides cancel out, and creates a lobar

pattern: you can aim them more precisely, and pick up sound from farther away.

Because these mics are long and narrow, they're called shotgun mics.

So on a typical set, there's probably a shotgun mic on the boom pole, and a handful

of lavaliers on different actors or hosts.

Each of those microphones is picking up part of the overall sound in a scene, and each

one feeds into its own track on the audio recorder where the sound mixer is.

There, the sound mixer can adjust the mic sensitivity and the recording levels.

So in the final film, the audience can hear a soft whisper...

Gandalf: Fly you fools.

...and understand loud shouting.

Stansfield: Benny? Bring me everyone.

Benny: What do you mean, "everyone?"

Stansfield: EVERYONE!!!

And all this is just production sound!

We still have a whole world of post-production to explore.

Before editing anything, the very first thing you need to do is sync the sound with the

camera footage.

And if you prepare during production, it's pretty easy to do.

Remember the 2nd AC?

They're responsible for the slate, which marks each take with both a visual and an

audio cue.

To help keep track of media, the scene, shot, and take number are written on the slate for

the camera to see, and are called out for the microphone to hear.

Nick: Scene 21 take 25!

And then, the 2nd AC claps the slate shut.

If you don't have a slate, you can clap your hands in front of the camera and the

mic to get the same effect.

[clap]

The goal is to make the audio levels spike, while the camera catches the exact moment

the clapper and the board of the slate come together.

That way, in post-production, you can manually match up that audio and visual cue and...

voilà!

Your sound is synced.

If you want a faster way of syncing audio and video, we've got you covered too.

One way is through a timecode sync, if you're using a digital slate.

The moment the clapper hits the board, a signal is sent from the slate to the camera and the

audio recorder.

And the timecode of this exact moment is recorded on both devices, which you can use to sync

everything up.

The second way is if your camera is recording audio too, which won't be used in the final

mix, called a guide track.

That way, in your editing software, you have your video footage, camera sound, and sound

from the audio recorder.

And an audio waveform sync program can match them all up.

Typically, an assistant editor syncs up the sound with the visuals, and then the editing

team cuts together the film.

Once the film editor and director agree on a picture lock, meaning the visual and story

edit of the film is finalized, it's time for the post-production sound team to get to work.

Like the film editor, the sound editor makes decisions based on things like story and the

actor performances.

The best takes for camera aren't always the best takes for sound, though, technically

or artistically.

And it's up to the sound editor to make sure the best sound takes for the film make

it into the final mix.

On a bigger film, some sound editors will be dedicated dialogue editors.

Like the name suggests, their job is to cut for the best dialogue from production sound.

Ideally, the audio and video from the same take will both be great.

That makes their job easy.

Often though, the dialogue editor has to borrow sound from other takes or wild sound, and

sync the best takes for sound with the best takes for camera.

This only works if the audience can't tell it's been done, like if the camera is on

another character, so it takes a lot of skill and creative editing.

If there's not a great sound take, the crew will bring actors back into a studio and do

some Automated Dialogue Replacement, or ADR.

Some actors relish ADR.

Meryl Streep famously loves it because mixing separate visual and audio performances can

add complexity to what her character is conveying.

Of course, dialogue isn't the only sound in a film.

Sound Designers work with sound mixers and foley artists to create the sound effects

that make the world of the film feel rich and whole, from birds chirping

to the *pew pew* of lasers.

And music supervisors and composers work with the director to either curate or create the

music of the film.

Adding music frequently comes at the end of post-production.

And when it's done well, it's the finishing touch that solidifies the entire film and

brings it to life.

From an actor's whispered lines to the final score woven throughout a film, sound helps

us go from watching a story with relatable characters, to feeling what they feel and

living in their world.

Today we learned about all the artists involved in production sound, and how different microphone

patterns are best for different situations.

We talked about the importance of post-production sound and the role it plays in deepening our

experience of a film, and making the movie the best it can be.

Next time, we'll talk about the people who see everything, from the bigger picture to

tiny details that could get overlooked on a film set: producers.

VERSUS - VFC V1911 VS. SUREFIRE 310R | AIRSOFT/REAL STEEL - Duration: 4:10.

In this episode I'm going to compare a Vega Force Company V1911 light, made for airsoft

guns, to a real-steel SureFire 310R.

What sets them apart?

Vega Force Company, a.k.a. "VFC", has produced a replica of a 80's style SureFire

310 called the "V1911."

It is available for both Western Arms and Marui spec 1911's, and features a permanent

on/off slide activation switch.

The real-steel SureFire 310R has a special place in every collector's heart.

My 310R is a later generation 310, made in the early 2000's, and features a permanent

on/off rocker switch on the left side.

Convenient for right handed shooters.

The big question is: Does a V1911 bezel fit on a real SureFire light?

Let's try it out.

As we can see here the SureFire bezel works perfectly on the V1911.

The same goes for the V1911 bezel on the surefire housing.

So this is a good base if you need a spare L30 bezel, even though it is a copy.

This is great news for me I can mix and match according to my preferences and need.

I can even convert the V1911 to a 610 if I desire.

Regarding the lamp modules the difference is night and day!

The V1911 bezel appears similar to an old L30.

Removing the collar however reveals a rather large spring,

which took me by surprise.

But it is needed in order to ensure contact with the positive pole on the battery.

Since the diode is so cheap a convex lens is needed to focus the light.

The bezel on the 310 is a regular R30 SureFire bulb housed in a Z32 shock isolated bezel,

and finished off with a LU60 collar.

Tested, true and reliable and this combo is still used by law enforcement and military.

But Even the best lights needs spare parts.

The V1911 has a host of spare parts at affordable prices.

In contrast, 310 parts are rare and expensive to replace.

You also need to buy a VFC slide catch to mount the real 310 on an airsoft gun.

Unfortunately, the VFC slide catch does not match the real one.

If the VFC Slide catch works on, or even fit, real firearms has yet to be determined.

All we need is someone dumb enough to trust their life, limb and safety to an 11 dollar

airsoft part whilst operating a firearm.

Time for the uncomfortable part: Price.

On the one hand I've learned that you get what you pay for, so cry once, buy real-steel.

A real 310 costs up to 700 dollars, but it can handle whatever you throw at it.

The V1911 on the other hand costs between 50 and 60 dollars.

However this is still an unproven design.

Does it have the same tolerance to shock and manhandling as the 310?

Only time will tell.

On the V1911 they only give you the option to activate the light via the sliding switch,

which is rather stiff and difficult.

For some reason the copy has a permanent on/off sliding switch instead of a momentary one.

There is however a hole in the bottom left corner of the housing where a remote pressure

switch can be installed.

With the SureFire light you get two options.

Either you activate the light with the permanent on/off rocker switch according to your needs,

or you simply use the momentary activation feature with the remote pressure switch attached

to the grip.

MASSIVE WIN: The Denver Broncos Just Gave The Anthem Kneelers EXACTLY What They Deserve - Duration: 1:23.

President Donald Trump has said over and over again that it's high time that NFL owners

step up and make their teams stand for the anthem.

Well, guess what the Denver Broncos and New England Patriots just did.

Both of these Superbowl winning teams have now pledged to stand together, not kneel,

during the Anthem as a show of unity with our country and our troops.

The official statement from the Broncos read,

"We may have different values and beliefs, but there's one thing we all agree on: We're

a team and we stand together — no matter how divisive some comments and issues can

be, nothing should ever get in the way of that.

Starting Sunday, we'll be standing together."

The New England Patriots reportedly made a similar pledge a few days ago, although theirs

lacked an official statement like Denver has.

It's good to see these team owners and players taking action to respect our National Anthem.

There is nothing wrong with protesting.

Hell, there is nothing wrong with disliking a President.

But for God's sake, give the people who sacrifice so much the 30 seconds of the Anthem.

They have earned it.

San Jac Certified: Donald "Beanz" Johnson - Duration: 1:40.

So when I took the audio engineering course

there was actually a midi section. I use that pretty much every day in my career field

as far as production and things like that.

That was really instrumental in what I do.

Right now most of my time personally is consumed with my band Khruangbin.

We spend a lot of time traveling and doing shows really all over the world here of late.

But I am the drummer. It's a trio. All of us are from Houston, Texas.

We formed in 2010.

Things started to take off when we put out our album in 2015 "The Universe Smiles Upon You."

I had a general direction of what I wanted to do, but I didn't know that I would end up doing exactly what I am doing now.

But if you have a general idea try to go in that direction.

If you change your mind along the way it's ok.

Most of the classes you're going to take will kind of apply to what you want to do anyway.

You just have to figure out how to make that work for what you're tyring to do.

Ben Stokes and Alex Hales will not be considered for England until further notice, say ECB - Duration: 2:34.

Ben Stokes and Alex Hales will not be considered for England until further notice, say ECB

Ben Stokes and Alex Hales will not be considered for England selection until further notice, the ECB has announced. Stokes was arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm after an incident in Bristol in the early hours of Monday morning.

He was released without charge but will be re-interviewed by detectives from Avon and Somerset Police in the next few days following the release of video footage allegedly showing Stokes involved in a brawl outside Mbargo nightclub in Clifton.

Stokes remains under arrest and has been asked to travel to Bristol in the next seven days to be interviewed under caution by detectives investigating the events.

Hales, who along with Stokes, missed Wednesdays one-day international against the Windies, has also been contacted by Avon and Somerset police and will travel to Bristol in the coming days to speak to investigating officers.

An ECB statement said: Ben Stokes and Alex Hales will not be considered for selection for England international matches until further notice.

Each remains on full pay pending further ECB investigation and the on-going Police investigation into an incident in Bristol in the early hours of Monday 25 September.

Andrew Strauss, Director of England Cricket, will today refer the internal disciplinary procedure for these two players to the Cricket Discipline Commission, chaired by Tim OGorman.

These decisions, fully supported by ECB Chairman Colin Graves, were made following the release of footage viewed by ECB for the first time on Wednesday night.

Yosemite Backpacking Trip: How to Backpack Yosemite National Park - Duration: 3:43.

When your friend asks you to go backpacking in Yosemite you say yes even

if you have no idea what you're doing like me so here's what I learned

first things first go with someone who does know what they're doing

Meet Joe: backpacking expert. he's been backpacking the Sierra Nevada mountains

for almost 20 years and hasn't died yet. I trust him.

Go with someone who has extra gear. Backpacking stuff is expensive. Borrow

what you can and then go to the store and get whatever else you need. Pack

light. Uou carry everything you have on your back for the entire day so decide

what's essential. Rule of thumb you don't need as much as you think. Okay now on to

Yosemite. This is a wilderness permit. if you're staying overnight in the

wilderness you need one of these. Permits are limited and their first-come

first-serve. We made sure we were first. and what time do we get those permits at

11:00 a.m. and right now it's 2 a.m. Lay in the street all night with the

others, get your pass, and you're good to go. Find the trail head and start backpacking

Get ready to see lots of nice scenery in Yosemite.

Yosemite is beautiful but it also has some really difficult terrain. For

example, switchbacks. Wwitchbacks are where you're hiking up the mountain and

the trail switches back and forth. The rocks, elevation, and the heavy bag on

your back make these tough, going up or down. That's where we're trying to get

down to to camp tonight. Let's talk about camp life. Set up camp a hundred feet

away from water and don't put your tents on top of any vegetation. Campfires are

allowed if a fire ring is already there. Camp close enough to a water source so

you can filter for drinking. And bring a bear canister to protect your food from

bears just store it away from camp when you sleep. You'll cook on this and

probably eat something like this. Also here is my tent. If you're not an avid

backpacker, this thing will probably feel like a coffin. Guys, I can't move.

Backpacking is no joke. It's not easy. You walk a ton each and every day, it hurts,

you'll probably lose someone in your group, or get lost together. We can't find

the trail. Just be ready for anything. it's thundering and lightning and we're on

the side of this mountain.

But each day gets easier. You get better at the little things like setting up

your tent. You get more comfortable with the pain and you learn new things every

day that kind of makes you feel accomplished. So take in where you are.

you're in Yosemite. Breathe in the fresh air, appreciate the lack of human

beings around you, go sledding on the snow or jump in the water. It'll be

really cold up there, though. Really cold. And when you finish, celebrate. Multiple

days in the wilderness deserve some good pizza and drinks. It makes it all worth it.

Drive up the tunnel view on your way out and get one last picture before you

leave. And that's how you backpack Yosemite.
