Hello, today in the Circle, I decided to warm your heart
and bring sunshine to your day…
I am going to talk about the Australian band HIATUS KAIYOTE with their LP Choose Your Weapon
released in 2015 on "Flying Buddha"/"Music on Vinyl" labels.
Hiatus is a nu-soul Australian quartet composed with:
Paul Bender bass player,
Simon Mavin keyboardist
Perrin Moss percusionnist
& Nai Palm singer and guitar player
Lately, they have been accompanied by backing vocalists Jace, Loreli and Jay Jay
(who is nothing else but the producer Silent Jay)
The band is formed in Melbourne in 2011,
when bass player Paul Bender catches sight of Nai Palm at small nightclub.
Keyboardist Simon Marvin and drummer Perrin Moss joined the band later on.
They released their first LP « Tawk Tomahawk » in 2012 independently
Therefore, they releases the EP 'Fire' in 2014, 'Choose Your Weapon' LP in 2015
and 'Recalibrations Vol 1' in 2016.
Supported by Q-Tip, Questlove or Erykah Badu, the band had a Grammy nomination in 2014
for the best RnB performance with their newer version of « Nakamarra » featuring the legend Q-Tip.
By the way, I discovered the band with this track « Nakamarra », this is one the tracks
I'm listening to cheer up myself ;
you know the kind of sounds that make you smiling regardless what's happening during the day.
On a side note for the name of the band :
A hiatus is a pause, this is something necessary in life for the members of the band:
taking time for a pause, having a moment in time.
The name 'Kaiyote' has been invented ; according to Nai Palm, the singer, it expresses creativity…
...of course it speaks to me a little.
It relates to birds which is for her a big omen as she considers herself as a bird-woman !
she is often accompanied by her bird Charlie Parker!
The 3 musicians also form the band Swooping Duck
They perform regurlarly in Australia, relying a lot on improvisation.
They got a groove and harmonies that always give shivers.
Regarding the band leader Nai Palm
She is an author, composer and singer.
She is for me, a unique figure with her solar and magnetic energy.
She is in the same time simple, endearing and gives lots of love on stage.
Nai Palm writes songs since she was 13 years old and has a real poetic gift for writing
She just released her new LP "Needle Paw" solely composed of guitar and vocal arrangements.
She covers Hiatus tracks and also proposes new compositions
where she explores different esoteric themes driven by a deep introspection.
Her live on stage is very simple, only focusing on the closest element from the human soul: the voice.
I have to confess I was a little bit stressed to see her solo live
because I am an inconditional Hiatus fan (I actually saw them every time they performed in Paris).
As a matter of fact, I can tell you: it was a real breath of fresh air,
she manages to keep us on tenterhooks all along the concert and she offers magnificent covers.
Let's get back to the album !
Choose your weapon is the second Hiatus Kaiyote album.
This is a tribute to the mixtape format with lots of interludes,
it counts 19 tracks with various influences like Soul, Jazz, Rock, Hip Hop and even Opera.
This musical journey relies on a rich and varied orchestration
thanks to Nai Palm's and Paul bender's creative compositions accompanied with the 2 other musicians.
Indeed, harmonies and groove are here sumptuously elaborated:
a really brilliant work of composition and musical arrangement!
This is not easy for me to tell you about my favorite tracks since I really like all the tracks on this album.
Anyways, if I had to choose, meaning I really don't have the choice, I would say:
Shaolin Monk Motherfunk, Building a ladder, & The Lung
There is also the track Laputa which is a tribute to Miyazaki's animation movie "Castle In The Sky".
KLN dancers also used that track to release a very nice dance video.
Choose your Weapon immerses us in a spiritual journey
where the band invites us to live in communion with nature !
This relationship with nature is ever-present in the album.
The terminology linked to the 4 elements enhances this feeling:
the Fire in "By Fire", Earth in "Shaolin Monk Motherfunk", "Molasses" and "The Lung",
Water in "Breathing Underwater" and "Air" in "Building A Ladder".
We can also see these elements on the cover designed by Laneous « lame boy » the Lunchboxer.
We can say this album made an impact, being sampled by various artists
such as Drake, Kendrick Lamar or Anderson Paak
It has been remixed by DJ Spinna as well bringing an House version of it.
The band has been spotted by Salaam Remi, working for Sony.
Then, he decided to create his own label Flying Buddah to sign Hiatus
Their 2 LPs 'Tawk Tomahawk' and 'Choose Your Weapon' have been released on this Sony sublabel.

itadakimasu And this is the beef filled American Deluxe
It looks so yummy the cheddar cheese is all melted
And this time around they are filled with Both egg and bacon
~what is so murrican' bout these?~
I didn't give it a second thought when I had their cheese burgers before
~WAT do~ what part about these is so Murrican?
They'll probably taste good regardless
Got a unique tasting sauce With a very spicy peppery chili taste to it
It's packed full of lettuce and goes great with the sauce
But it seems like it'll be a messy Burger ~ let's wrap it in paper before I make a mess~
This barbecue sauce tastes great in this
The egg white is so nice and plump and delicious
The bacon is also very tasty And there is an extra bun in the middle making it so nice and filling
In place of fries I have is corn soup instead
Lately I've been All about these corn soups
Corn soups are yummy no matter what store you get them at
Next step is the American Deluxe chicken
~its uh.... all coming apart~
They packed so much in here that it's Overflowing
The chicken is so nice and crispy
Apparently it's a mix of barbecue sauce and chipotle in here
Are these called American Deluxe Because it's chipotle sauce is popular in America?
Is the chipotle sauce giving this the spicy flavor?
You can taste the chilis used in this sauce But it's got as very sweet and savory flavor profile
Another Deluxe BBQ Beef
Bun lettuce patty bun bacon egg and bun 7 layers.... wowzers
The barbecue sauce is so yummy They slaughtered a lot on here
Lastly, American Deluxe BBQ chicken
While I'm grateful that they packed a lot of ingredients into this It's so darn tough trying to get this out of the box
The chicken is so crispy
Next up are the triangle chocolate pies
Great sadness has befallen me Due to the lack of white chocolate pies
This is what they look like Once you start eating these they fall apart and make a mess
Let's lay some paper down first
The pie is so yummy
But I ate this much of the pie And have yet to taste any of the chocolate
Is it all on the bottom part?
These are so yummy when you eat them with ice cream
Eating warm sweet with a cold sweet Is pure Bliss
The chocolate sauce has oozed out It's so warm and yummy
The chocolate sauce has a mild sweetness to it its also Filled with nuts
The pie is so flaky and crispy
most def going to be yummy when dipped in here
ya gotta be careful about these sorts of things when eating pies and choux

Was super delish They're both made so lavishly
But we're a bit.... difficult to eat Especially the chicken
But they really added a lot of sauce that was so yummy And it was filled with egg and bacon and cheese making it so yummy
The chocolate pies were yummy as well this year
Sadly I was unable to try out the white chocolate pies ~ugh.. I totes love white choco though~

I've been working on a t-shirt design and is something that's going to be
coming early 2018 as I'm in contact with a good quality apparel vendor right now
but yeah I was working on the design and I saw a really good opportunity to make
a quick video on how to align text in illustrator with a few tips firstly
press command or control R to open up your rulers and let's place our tags in
a random order we can say that we want all of the text to align along this
guide here is a very quick way to do that with this tip hold down shift and
then select the guy that you want to align to as well as a text you can then
really shift and click the guide one more time and it'll become more thicker
like so now we can head up to the align options and click a line to the left you
will see that everything snaps to the guide however if you look really closely
there's a small gap between the text and the guide this is because a text is a
font I know this traitor has aligned everything around the font box not the
actual text itself so to get around this you can create the outlines of the text
and then align everything as we did before
what about horizontal guides well when we want to align everything to a
horizontal guide you would align all of my three text layers at once which is in
the text effect that we won the tip to get around this is to press command or
control G to group all of your text layers together and then go ahead and
align your text as before and it should snap to the guide as before so just a
quick video today on how to align tanks in the straight air with these tips

I posted a personal based which was just under seven minutes in November so
I was hoping to go a little bit faster today and I did so it was either 06:55.3
or 06:55.4 but that's about one and a half seconds off my personal best
So I was really, really pleased with that. Last year's BRIC was my first and I was
coming back from having had chemotherapy and initially if I go back
a year and a half, I couldn't even or two kilometers and if I wanted to climb a set of stairs
as anyone who's had the treatment will know
you immediately kind of cling to the banister going or if you're getting up you push
yourself off the seat and last year my own was to get to seven but but of
course the real a aim was to regain my fitness which had done when I was 07:01
last year so just outside it so I was really determined to come back this year
and just build a to say "Right I've done it I can go below 07:00" so it's a
really nice feeling to have achieve that today.

episode of MSI PRO CAST. Today we're
going to talk about a feature on
MSI Intel motherboards
that few people know about.
It's called M.2 Genie. So the speed freaks,
listen up! It's gonna be interesting.
Just a bit of background here. M.2 Genie
is a feature that comes with several MSI
motherboards for the Intel platform.
This feature will not only work on the X299
SLI PLUS board on this system, but also
for your Z170, Z270 and Z370 motherboard
And to demonstrate the MSI
M.2 Genie function, we'll be upgrading our
video editing rig that we built recently.
You can catch up on this video build
right here on this channel. So what's M.2
Genie you ask. Well it's simple. M.2 Genie
boils down to MSI's answer to simplified
raid array setup.
So typically setting up your m2 raid
array in the BIOS is a very painful 16
step process. It literally takes forever
to set up so we've been working very
hard here. I'm making this as much of a
walk in the park as possible.
This video we'll be using 2 identical M.2
SSD drives. Also keep in mind that
setting up such an array will require
you to freshly reinstall windows, and
that's clear up all the funky data.
You might have on your drives.
That being said this setup is a pretty
straightforward process. Install each
Drive and the available M.2 slots of
your motherboard. This MSI X299 SLI PLUS
board even has an M.2 shield, a unique
thermal solution to lower the M.2 SSD
temperature. Be sure to use it!
Now let's head over to the BIOS
to setup the array with MSI M.2 Genie.
PRO Tip: before doing anything,
make surey ou're running the latest bios.
MSI regularly releases updates to fix bugs
and improve performance.
The whole point about M.2 Genie is
to simplify the process of setting up a
raid array. Here are the steps.
1: In BIOS, immediately head over to
lower right corner to activate M.2 Genie
2: press f10 then to save the
new bio settings and restart.
3: reboot head back to the BIOS and verify
in the Advanced Settings - Intel Rapid
Storage Technology that your array has
been created properly. 4: over here you
can even customize the volume name and
more importantly like which one the
drives will be part of the array.
5: that's it for the BIOS now you're left
with the installation of Windows on your
PC and you are done.

So that's it. Simple right? To verify the
gain of performance. Here're some simple
before-and-after tests and here are the
results.
Our single M.2 SSD drive get at a maximum
of 1581 megabits per second sequential
read and 564 megabits per second write.
For M.2Genie raid array the performance
went up by a whopping 77%.
2,806 megabits per second read 1,146
megabits per second write. So that's it.

Hello. My name is Nag Sinde and I am a 19-year-old sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
I am currently pursuing a double major in Mathematics and Computer Science.
My passion for both of these subjects stem from a high interest level and a strong aptitude
in both areas.
For example, when I was in high school, two of my friends and I collaborated to create
a Python version of a game called Find the Mine.
Then, the summer before my sophomore year, we all collaborated to create a shopping list
app using Java.
On campus, I am involved in a computer science organization called the Hub.
We invite local companies and speakers to give tech talks and get an opportunity to
interact with them.
We also make sure that we provide enough resources for others to ensure that they have the resources
they need to build the things they desire.
One of the biggest opportunities that I am looking forward to is to intern at a local
tech startup.
I also hope to get an IT-related internship this summer to not only gain more technical
skills, but to be more prepared about my ultimate career decision.
As of now, I am currently involved in software and web development, which involves creating
new software and websites using languages, such as Java and PHP.
Aside from being a college student, I am also a passionate tutor.
Since last summer, I have been working for Varsity Tutors, teaching students in a variety
of mathematics and computer science subjects, such as Java, Python, Statistics, and Calculus.
With this job, I have been able to prepare and implement an
appropriate curriculum for these students and develop my communication skills by weekly
assessing their academic progress.
I am also involved in ISA on campus, which stands for India Students Association.
We do many volunteer and cultural activities.
Currently, we are preparing for India Night, which is a cultural event that showcases Indian
culture throughout different regions of India.
I also love playing table tennis.
I played on my high school varsity team and continue the passion by playing recreationally
on the Table Tennis Club here at Madison.
It is a great stress-reliever and a great way for me to stay in shape.
I personally believe that it is not only important to gain valuable educational experience, but
to also gain valuable hands-on experience.
I hope to use the skills that I acquire through being in rec sports and organizations and
hopefully be able to apply them in future internships and jobs.

to setup the array with MSI M.2 Genie.
PRO Tip: before doing anything,
make surey ou're running the latest bios.
MSI regularly releases updates to fix bugs
and improve performance.
The whole point about M.2 Genie is
to simplify the process of setting up a
raid array. Here are the steps.
1: In BIOS, immediately head over to
lower right corner to activate M.2 Genie
2: press f10 then to save the
new bio settings and restart.
3: reboot head back to the BIOS and verify
in the Advanced Settings - Intel Rapid
Storage Technology that your array has
been created properly. 4: over here you
can even customize the volume name and
more importantly like which one the
drives will be part of the array.
5: that's it for the BIOS now you're left
with the installation of Windows on your
PC and you are done.

So that's it. Simple right? To verify the
gain of performance. Here're some simple
before-and-after tests and here are the
results.
Our single M.2 SSD drive get at a maximum
of 1581 megabits per second sequential
read and 564 megabits per second write.
For M.2Genie raid array the performance
went up by a whopping 77%.
2,806 megabits per second read 1,146
megabits per second write. So that's it.

And all these Deluxe BBQ selections Are the second iteration of the American Deluxe series
itadakimasu And this is the beef filled American Deluxe
It looks so yummy the cheddar cheese is all melted
And this time around they are filled with Both egg and bacon
~what is so murrican' bout these?~
I didn't give it a second thought when I had their cheese burgers before
~WAT do~ what part about these is so Murrican?
They'll probably taste good regardless
Got a unique tasting sauce With a very spicy peppery chili taste to it
It's packed full of lettuce and goes great with the sauce
