15 - Percy Fawcett ● Percy Fawcett was an British officer and
explorer who went on an expedition to the Amazon, accompanied by his 22-year old son
and the son's friend.
Fawcett had funding to find a mythical lost city he named Z, believed to be the remains
of an ancient civilisation.
But after a month of regular letters, nothing was heard from the group.
One theory goes that Fawcett actually intended to disappear and start a cult of the jungle
goddess.
14 - Cynthia Anderson ● Workers at a law office in Ohio arrived
to work one day in 1981 to find everything prepared and tidied by the secretary, Cynthia
Anderson, as usual.
The mail was sorted and the radio was on, but there was no sign of Ms Anderson.
Her purse and keys were gone but her car remained parked outside.
On her desk was a book she'd been reading, open at a page where the heroine of the novel
gets abducted at knifepoint.
13 - Asha Degree ● Nine year old Asha Degree shared a bedroom
with her younger brother in their house in North Carolina.
But one morning in 2000, her parents found Asha's bed empty.
When a police search began, two drivers nearby reported seeing a girl walking by the side
of a highway in the rain.
One said she ran into the woods when he slowed his car.
Later on, her bag was found several miles from her home, but there have been no further
leads since.
12 - Frederick Valentich ● While flying in a Cessna light aircraft,
trainee pilot Frederick Valentich lost contact with Australian air traffic control.
Radio transmissions sent from the twenty-year-old's flight said his plane was being approached
by an aircraft, which began to move around him.
He reported engine trouble before he was asked to identify the object, to which his final
response was "It isn't an aircraft".
However it should be said that Valentich was known to be a UFO enthusiast.
11 - The Panchen Lama ● The Dalai Lama is the spiritual leader
of Tibetan Buddhism, loved and respected worldwide.
For 500 years, each Dalai Lama is chosen as a reincarnation of the previous, and the person

10 - Michael Negrete ● UCLA student Michael Negrete was up all
night playing a computer game online at his college dorm near Sunset Boulevard.
He logged off at 4am in the morning, and when his roommate woke at 9am, Michael had vanished.
Not only did he leave behind most of his possessions, including his wallet, but some reports suggest
he even left shoes behind.
Detectives are still baffled as to where he could have gone to.
9 - Mr Howe ● 18th century estate owner Mr Howe lived
in central London with his wife.
One day, Mr Howe left the house telling his wife he had business to conduct at the Tower.
Later that day he sent her a note, telling her he had to urgently go to Holland for a
few weeks.
She saw him again seventeen years later.
He had been living one block away the whole time, and when reunited with his wife, lived
happily ever after with her, explaining nothing.
8 - Louis Le Prince ● Frenchman Louis Le Prince went down in
history for shooting the first ever motion picture.
But equally remarkable is his disappearance in 1890, shortly before he was due to showcase
his camera in America.
Prince boarded a train in Dijon, waving goodbye to his brother, but when the train arrived
in Paris, Prince was not on board, his body and luggage were never found.
Some suspect foul play from rival movie camera inventor Thomas Edison.
7 - Zebb Quinn ● One evening in 2000, eighteen-year-old
Zeb Quinn had finished his shift at Walmart.
He had plans with a coworker, but when he received a message on his pager and he suddenly
drove off in his car.
Four days later, Quinn's car was found opposite his mother's workplace, with lipstick drawn
over it and a live puppy inside.
Strangely, the coworker was sentenced for the unrelated murder of two people in 2017,
making him the prime suspect.
The puppy was adopted by a detective.
6 - Agatha Christie ● Agatha Christie, who is the best-selling
novelist of all time has intrigued readers for a century with her murder mysteries, but
in 1926, Christie became the subject of intrigue herself when she disappeared.
After an argument with her husband, her car was found on a cliff top.
All of England, including the author of Sherlock Holmes, began a huge search, but in the end
Christie turned up ten days later at a hotel, with no memory of what had happened.
5 - Emanuela Orlandi ● The Vatican City is a country with only
800 people.
15 year old Emanuela Orlandi was one of those people in 1983, having a father who worked
at the Vatican bank.
On June 22nd, she told her sister and friends at school in Rome that she had a job offer
from the Avon cosmetics company, but after class that day, she was never seen again.
Numerous theories abound, from Turkish terrorists to twisted Vatican sex parties.
4 - Lord Lucan ● In 1974, nanny and housekeeper Sandra
Rivett was found bludgeoned to death by a lead pipe in the house of her employer, Richard
Bingham, an aristocrat known as Lord Lucan.
That night, Lucan fled London and headed for the coast.
His abandoned car was eventually found on the South Coast of England.
Many assumed the famed gentleman had thrown himself from the white cliffs, but since that
day people worldwide have reported seeing the disgraced earl, from Colombia to India.
3 - Jean Spangler ● Jean Spangler was trying to make it as
a movie star in 1940s Hollywood, but in 1949 she disappeared while driving across town
to collect child support from her ex-husband and then to act in a night shoot, for a movie
that may not have existed.
The only evidence found was her purse which contained a note addressed to someone named
Kirk.
Media speculation was so heated, that star actor Kirk Douglas had to publicly state that
he wasn't involved.
2 - Bobby Dunbar ● On a summer's day in 1912, the Dunbar
family lost sight of their son Bobby while on a fishing trip in Louisiana.
After an eight-month search, police found a child matching the description with a man
who called the child Bruce and said he was the son of Julia Anderson, a different woman.
Newspaper reports suggest that the child in question failed to recognise Julia when presented
to her, but also failed to recognise the original Dunbar family.
To this day it is unknown whose child that boy was.
1 - The Prime Minister of Australia ● If you're the leader of a country, you'd
assume that there's always someone who knows where you are and what you're doing.
In 1967, Australian Prime Minister Harold Holt was out for a swim with friends when
he disappeared from sight.
Holt was supposedly a strong swimmer, but the beach may have had riptides, sharks or
deadly jellyfish.
His body was never recovered but it's probably pretty safe to say he drowned, because of
all the water.

Hi everyone, I hope you are having a wonderful day and had a good February!
It is that time again to plan with me but this time, it's a very special one because
I am collaborating with 3 other amazing, sweet, and super talented artists: Cristina from
MyLifeinaBullet, Jenny from Jenny Journals, and my new friend Nicole from Nicole's Journal.
Although I am still very new to this community, I am already overwhelmed by all of the love
and support within it.
I believe in bringing others up instead of being competitive because we have so much
to learn from each other.
And there is also enough room for everyone to be great.
So I am thankful to be a part of your journaling journey as much as you are part of mine.
Our theme for March is called Memories of Spring, each of us answering the question:
"What do you remember most about Spring?"
Since we haven't revealed our videos to each other yet, I am so excited to see what
everyone created, so hop on over to their videos along with me and leave them lots of
love!
I'll post all of their video links along with all of my supplies and other goodies
down in the description.
Growing up and even now, I remember the songs of the birds the most as the weather begins
to warm and the snow begins to melt.
There's also this distinct smell to the air, but I couldn't find a way to capture
that through my drawings, so this month as the birds begin to sing, we'll follow the
journey of the Bear as I ink my setup.
While the last wisp of cold air leaves the season, the bear, having departed from his
friend the bunny, is alone and a little lost, encased in a wreath of beautiful blooming
leaves.
He smells the spring air, making its way to warm up the land, and as he looks up, he finds
a beautiful and curious bird chirping as cheerful as ever.
After inking with my 03 micron, I went back in with my gold gelly roll and a Light grey
Zig Kuretake Brush pen to add some more dimension.
Underneath the month, I also added some ripped blush cardstock and the phrase, oh, hello Spring
The bear is struggling with his independence.
There was a comfort in having a companion that is now replaced with a void, that seemed
to consume him in sadness.
The sweet melody of the bird and the spring air reminds him to try be better.
He tries to find peace within himself, to find beauty in being alone, and to try to
feel true happiness.
He follows the song of the bird through the warming waters as the plants begin to grow
out of the tough soil, defying gravity and rising tall and magnificent.
These are his inspirations.
Once the watercolors are dry, I went back in with my micron to tie it back in with the
rest of the spread.
And I also added some highlights using my white gelly roll.
The painting turned out a little different than I imagined, but it still looks pretty good.
I'll have this painting and the entire setup in my shop, so that check out if you're interested!
The painting will then go here and on the next page I have my mood of the month.
This is the month of emergence, of rising, of overcoming.
Underneath that is an inspiring quote by Nancy Lopez, she says: Doubt yourself and you doubt
everything you see.
Judge yourself and you see judges everywhere.
But if you listen to the sound of your own voice, you can rise above doubt and judgment.
And you can see forever.
Just as the birds build their nests one twig at a time, so can the bear emerge from his
gloom and build a strong foundation to this new chapter of his life.
I did change my 3 month calendar spread a little bit and simplified it to one page.
This is one of the many spreads that you're going to see over and over again
because It is so useful when it comes time to plan ahead.
I have this month larger up top and then the next two months, smaller below.
After I inked the spread I, again went back in with my gold gelly roll and then with the
brush pen to keep things consistent.
On the next page, I am going to add in my video ideas for the month, any upcoming projects,
or product ideas for my shop.
This way I can brainstorm ideas and have a permanent place to put them or refer back to them.
Moving on to my monthly calendar spread.
I don't think I've changed this one since I started journaling and that is okay because
it works very well for me.
I have the title to the left and then birds chirping and chattering away on a branch up top.
Once I finish up the calendar, I added the same blush card stock to the right and my monthly goals.
This month, I want to work on my book, eat healthy, work out 5 days a week, recently,
it's been about 4 days, but that's also okay.
Learn something new everyday and I want to try to give people the benefit of the doubt.
I've realized that I am so quick to think poorly of others and I wouldn't want to
be treated like that, so I want to try to be better.
Also, my brother is helping with my website, so that's where that is right now.
I think it's one of those projects that is ongoing.
Next are my trackers.
There are 31 boxes for the 31 days of the month.
And for everyday that I draw or eat well or exercise I can fill in those boxes any way
that I want.
On top of each box are two versions of the sun and then leaves similar to the ones in
the beginning to tie to all together.
Through his emotional journey, the bear is exhausted.
He allows himself to take a nap, sound and comfortable, surrounded by the Spring air
carrying the melody of the chattering chirping birds.
He is at peace within and without, letting go of the past and being fully in the present.
This is my page of milestones.
If I accomplish anything large or small, I'll write them here, to remember to celebrate
even the littlest of victories.
This bear is also my reminder that it's okay to take a break from time to time and
to take care of myself.
After his nap, he continues to explore what the world has to offer and is overwhelmed
as his enters into a field of blooming flowers, amidst the tall mountains.
A beauty that he would not have found if he surrendered to his loneliness.
The enclosed wreathe in the beginning has changed to an open wreathe, allowing the birds
to fly beyond as roses begin to bloom among the leaves.
I then added in accents with my gold gelly roll and then underneath the title, is my
own quote that sums up the story, it says: Find peace within and you'll find happiness.
As I go through my weeks, I'll fill in my weekly to do list on the right.
This has been working so well for me because I don't feel constricted within boxes and
I have the room to be flexible depending on the week.
I have to admit, that the spread turned out pretty good.
I was struggling a little bit with the concept and I wasn't feeling at my most creative
state.
Though, I did learn and I have been learning, that you have to just start, whether that
is sketching out circles or mindless doodles.
Inspiration doesn't come to you, you have to make your way to it.
but the trick is to put all those emotions aside and just begin.

How to Stop Snoring? Drink this Juice Before You Sleep - Duration: 4:27.
Ever that you snore all night long, you
really does not rest.
This can cause serious problems for your health and their relationship.
It is known that snoring is caused by weight, but people who are not above
they may also snore or suffer from sleep apnea (short pauses in breathing
while sleeping) due to the shape of the mouth.
In addition, as we age, we lose muscle mass, which creates sagging in our
throat and prevents air from flowing properly.
Here are 10 tips for what you can do to Stop Snoring:
Use higher pillows
Have you ever tried to sleep on a pillow? higher or add an extra pillow?
The Best Incline Helps Your Airways to remain open during sleep.
Sleep on your side
Sleeping belly up, force your tongue back to the throat, blocking
the air, so sleep on your side and avoid sleeping face down.
Gargle with peppermint oil
Try to do this before going to bed.
Add one drop of mint oil to a glass of cold water and gargle.
Caution: Do not drink the water from the gargle.
Gargle of mint tea
Simply put a handful of peppermint leaves in a cup of hot water.
Leave to melt until cool, coe and gargareje.
Nettle tea
Sometimes snoring is caused by allergies. dust and hair.
Therefore, among the things you can do do to stop snoring, there is the option
of drinking nettle tea.
Boil a glass of water, add some dried nettle leaves (you can buy them
in a health food store) and cover the glass.
After ten minutes, drink the tea.
This recipe is an excellent antihistamine and should be consumed before going to bed.
Lose weight
Losing weight will not only help you with your snoring problem, but will also help you
to live better.
Try to walk, exercise regularly and avoid smoking.
Alcoholic beverages are also a bad idea, especially before bed.
Anti-sour juice
Beat a piece of grated ginger with 3 centimeters of length, 2 medium carrots, 2 apples,
the juice of 2 lemons and enough water to complete the blender.
Always drink half an hour before going to bed.
Arruda and olive oil Put 50 grams of Arruda in a dark bottle
and cover it with oil.
Cover the jar and let it rest in an area dark and dry for 14 days.
After the infusion time, apply it to the nose, neck (throat area), and
nape
But first, take an allergy test: apply a little oil on your elbow, wait
a little and, if you do not feel irritation, you can use it freely.
Onion and salt
Cut a medium-sized onion and place it on a platter or on a platter.

block guys. It's beautiful inside. This is like the ultimate dream garage for so
many guys and girls. So walking inside, they..ah..have their nice waiting room and
lobby, treasures from around the world, pictures of their customers travels,
an antique elevator. Well it's time to introduce you to; Rene, founder co-owner
of Global Expedition Vehicles and this is their massive new factory.They got a unit
there that's going to be delivered soon, that's a PAE military chassis and
here's the other half. Great to see you!How are you doing? Good morning. You guys have so much here that you're
just gonna be able to all grow into. And is there a full basement?partial basement.

That's the shop there and its like drops and that's the composite shop over there.Composite shop..Let me take a peek in there.
This is where like the real bones and you get the true insulating factors you
know for your bodies. Yeah! We, we have the ability to make our own panels. We have
the CNC router that will take up to 45 feet each, and cut the corners out of the edges and try to make them how they'll fit fit more together

gaps and that kind of thing. Okay! so here's an amazing line-up of some of their rigs that are already

for sale soon guys. This one's built on a Ford f-550 chassis, international right
here, over to the left, Unimog. Its just quality units guys.
I can't say enough about them. Okay so Perky Mog is all set to be shown. Thank you

a Pangea lifting roof model built on an
0.5 Mercedes Unimog. Probably the best most capable expedition vehicle platform
that there is. The body length is 17 feet and what our Pangea lifting roof model
is, is basically a standard one-story Um mm! living area but when the roof is lifted,
gives us an elevated, Um mm.. sleeping loft in the upstairs area. That way you're
increasing the size of your vehicle..Um mm.. by about 30 or 40 percent living space but
still keeping that footprint small. That is great! I really, really like also that
it's not gonna require deaf fluid or ultra-low sulfur diesel, Mercedes so
truly something that can go around the world. Very world serviceable. Okay!
Now the best part of this vehicle, is the inside. It's very, very well done. It is
very well appointed, customer choices and they did a great job!Yes! I love the
Turkish colors. Yah!Yah! Let's go take a look!Feels like a real home instead of a RV,a camp RV. Okay! just small tires to travel stickers and.. love power steps.
Heading on in guys! Oh yeah! We've already been in here once already but this is a
gorgeous expedition vehicle. Truly luxury travel in extreme environments. The
Turkish tiles and the blue..a full length mirror! Yes well..every girl has to have that if you're gonna travel full time. You won't believe how many we have looked at that don't have a mirror anywhere.I know! necessity sorry.
So this bathroom space is small so it's what's called a wet bath. Which means the toilet
and sink is and showers all in one space. So to conserve space so we have more
storage, we designed a tilt up stainless steel sink that flips down
over the toilet, so you only have the sink down when you actually need to
use the sink. Yeah! it's not taking up unwanted space
the rest of the time.Then you have your storage over here. I like the European that towel bar.
Hydronic heated towel bar to keep this space nice and toasty also to
help dry it out. Exactly! because if you were showering with the roof down the
windows are not accessible from the outside.. mm-hmm..
and also if you're traveling the world you're gonna be in the Amazon or the
jungle where humidity is gonna be an issue in drying things out is of the
utmost importance. It becomes a real chore! And then this is a Cassette toilet? It is! That's for Cassette. Okay! So this is a very, very comfortable
dining and also your couch for that matter and just complete comfort up here!
Total like and the fact that this roof raises up,
that adds so much more, just space and... makes it feel much larger. Yeah! Then you
have these three huge windows on the back that's one thing I've always really
liked about this rig. And with the roof popping up, you essentially have your
whole bedroom up here guys! And this even opens up so you can get up on the roof
and do some night photography, just absolutely beautiful in here. Well it's
not a complete tour without checking out the storage capacity and this has three
big cabinets like this and then two drawers each down below.Wow!You wouldn't have to worry
about room for your things when your here. And that's a lot of times one of the things that you have to compromise
on but there are no compromises. There's pantry clothing storage, an extra little
refrigerator and then these.. I just kind of learned about these a little bit ago
but these are 12-volt? They are! A refrigerator and freezer but these volts,
I just think that's like the greatest idea since like sliced bread. That's
beautiful! pass-through..
Let's see here..It's unlocked just pull the handle.Ah! I just.. Ah... There we go!
So you can bug out. Wow! That is quite the cabin! I think we need to go..ah.. check out
the inside of the Unimog park. Absolutely! This is another great feature you have
an additional counter space here that you just pull out and put up on top and then...you
can even open the top window, close the bottom and be looking out over your view
while you cut up vegetables. Hey let me show them these windows! So in our videos..ah..
before you've heard about these windows that are just truly insulated. In Global
Expedition Vehicles, these are their windows. They're called armor vision and
complete light blocking right here.They are a dual pane, there's a bug screen.
Oops! And then they open like so and just the
most amazing windows around. And if you know anything about what is a weak link
in a vehicle like this, it's gonna be the windows. You don't want them to
condensate leak air or let bugs in. So coming around the side here. There's an
awning that pops out, storage bays
spare tires and a winch because these things are not light, recovery equipment,
storage bay.You know what, one of my favorite things about GXP is the way they put the recovery equipment in obscure places that is
easily accessible for you but not like in the way for you to live in the
vehicle. More of the back garage storage compartment. Just truly a quality built
unit.
Ah! there's the cassette toilet and looks like an extra one! That's a really well
thought out feature. It's a great idea!Having an extra cassette. I agree!... So here is something I just
learned. They've added a deadbolt on the doors, for security guys. So if you're in
questionable parts of the world just the idea with security is to make it as
difficult as possible for someone to, you know break in but very well-thought-out
idea. Let's see if I can climb in this beast one-handed here. This is quite the
cockpit guys! That's a plethora of switches! My goodness! I don't even know
what all this stuff does. Very comfortable seats though. You have your

Mastered Ultra Instinct Goku SECRET BEHIND His ANGEL Forms! REVEALING This MAJOR DISCOVERY - Duration: 12:07.
What's up, #ANIFAM?
Today we're gonna take a much deeper look into exactly what Ultra Instinct is doing
behind the scenes for Dragon Ball Super.
Unfortunately not tonight, but next week Goku will actually be mastering Ultra Instinct.
Activating one of the best and most dependable chain reactions the Dragon Ball franchise
has come to be known for.
Explaining exactly what we've come to understand about Super Saiyan forms.
They're expected upgrades of the form before it.
And they've come to be known as changes in physical appearance and energy-draining
boosts in power.
Usually achieved by someone longing to get stronger who often times finds that power
in a very peculiar way.
By copying Goku.
And especially the forms we have now in Dragon Ball Super, where there's all these different
colors instead of your average blond-haired Super Saiyan, are still treated as normal
types of Super Saiyan.
By doing this, the creators are continuing to make some of the most awesome power-ups
in all anime, but they're also creating upgrades that are very traditional.
Now this isn't necessarily a good thing or a bad thing, just that these transformations
are sticking to a concept that's pretty much saying, "if it ain't broke don't
fix it."
Which is exactly what I mean by saying characters often find stronger power by copying Goku.
The new transformations these secondary people attain will usually end with the same exact
power Goku already achieved.
Ordinarily, they'll even have the same physical changes as Goku's power-ups, because someone
standing out aside from the main character should be avoided at all costs.
But as Goku takes on the perfected version of Ultra Instinct, we see a new generation
of anime creators changing up the game.
Why is this happening?
To give you an answer, we gotta figure out just what it is that Super Saiyan forms have
suddenly become.
Especially for the secondary characters.
Because these transformations are no longer traditional Goku copycats.
Instead, they've become radical symbols.
Hmmm.
So, what is a radical symbol?
What I mean by this is that what we understand about these newer types of forms is generally
that the foundation of Super Saiyan can change, and that a single person can be the cause
of that change.
These upgrades deal with the ability to gain more power as much as they do gaining a stronger
sense of self.
In fact, I bet you'll recognize this:
In a normal Super Saiyan transformation, we'll find a supporting character such as Vegeta
rightfully following in Goku's footsteps.
This is a precise spot in a very strict ranking of characters, but one where all us fans are
more than happy watching each person playing their specific role.
We'll usually get scenes throughout the series where even Vegeta admits one way or another
how amazing he thinks Goku is.
It's like the chaos from the beginning of the Tournament of Power that looks out of
control, but where every attack hits the right target without any mistakes of hitting some
random fighter.
We find ourselves getting one of two types of transformations in Dragon Ball Super.
There's the natural upgrade, and the abnormal upgrade.
The natural upgrade model is slowly becoming less common, but the idea is whatever makes
you identify a Super Saiyan transformation, this model displays all of those characteristics.
And every Dragon Ball fan has come to love these forms.
But they're also flawed boosts, that will unintentionally make the usual character rankings
feel stale.
By changing up the game, the creators knew they were gonna save the series from getting
boring.
So we have the Dragon Ball Z forms as prime examples.
They all display the alterations in physical appearance, such as the change in hair and
eye color.
They're also all expected upgrades in physical strength from the form before it.
But then you get some minor differences, such as the lightning and slight change in hairstyle
for Super Saiyan 2, as well as the longer hair and bolder eyebrows for Super Saiyan
3.
With these changes in detail, this model of power-up basically became about welcoming
change.
But the more common upgrade, and the undeniably more interesting and radical one, is the abnormal
upgrade.
Whatever makes you identify a Super Saiyan transformation, this model displays something
totally different from those characteristics.
It gives us a super new way to look at what a Super Saiyan is, but with such unique elements,
these power-ups evolve from abnormal upgrade to accepted power boost, to admired form,
completely altering the Super Saiyan concept in its own likeness, bringing together every
unique personality, and creating a brand new idea for the same Dragon Ball characters.
Vegeta's limit breaking form has got to be the most perfect example out there.
But any new form that has base form attributes mixed into it, includes something completely
out of the ordinary, or some combination of those two things, then you already know it's
an abnormal upgrade changing up the game of the strict character ranking system Dragon
Ball is so well-known for.
So the weakness that these upgrades are pointing out is in the sense of self for each individual
character, not just in the added physical strength that they're looking for.
Whether that's the normality of every single character achieving the same form as what
Goku already has.
The traditional spiky, raised hair of every transformation.
Or the average anger-induced boost into a greater power.
We're so used to these characteristics that the creators were basically able to use them
to their advantage to make something ridiculous like the sudden massive boost from Super Saiyan
3 directly to Super Saiyan God feel totally acceptable.
Why struggle through strenuous training to gain godly power when all you gotta do is
conveniently find 5 people with even a tiny trace of Saiyan power to pour their hearts
into you?
Isn't that what all the other gods are doing?
But you're probably wanting to ask me…
Are you trying to say all the forms in Dragon Ball Super are abnormal upgrades?
They certainly appear to be.
But take a closer look at Super Saiyan Blue.
Yes, the change from blonde hair to blue stands out like a sore thumb, as the characteristics
of an abnormal upgrade typically do.
Keep in mind the minor differences from Super Saiyan to Super Saiyan 2, and then the unique
changes for Super Saiyan 3.
Simply changing up the color of the hair isn't enough to justify calling Super Saiyan Blue
an abnormal upgrade.
Plus the expected power boost from the level of Super Saiyan God tells you this is one
Dragon Ball Super form falling under the normal upgrade category.
You see, there's a concept of conformity running strong throughout the Dragon Ball
franchise and we often find a slight hiccup with this as each character does go down their
own path with unique struggles.
This eventually fixes itself though when they all end up achieving the same exact forms,
putting them all back into the same kind of group.
The abnormal upgrades of Dragon Ball Super are pushing away that approach and making
a new name for Super Saiyan forms.
Look it like this:
Vegeta always hates being behind Goku and is always looking for a way to surpass him.
Eventually, he does become Goku's equal for a little while, but never actually goes
past him.
Compare that to Vegeta's training in Dragon Ball Super.
Vegeta is pretty unhappy with the lack of progress in his own training, so he ends up
training consistently under Whis, whereas Goku would come and go.
What ends up happening is Vegeta and Goku experience separate ways of training.
The concept of being the same is totally transformed.
Or even better yet, look at the way Vegeta attained Super Saiyan Blue, where he didn't
get the necessary help that Goku had to achieve god power, but in the end, skipped it straight
to a higher level.
Super Vegeta goes against the traditional conformity of Super Saiyan, and it definitely
has a more radical take on it than most other power-ups of Dragon Ball Z, but it didn't
lead to a unique form owned by Vegeta alone.
In the Tournament of Power, on the other hand, Vegeta goes against his precise spot in the
character rankings, and with his limit breaking form, the whole conformity element between
Goku and Vegeta is turned upside down.
You see, lots of the ideas in Dragon Ball Super are meant to be seen as radical symbols
because the creators of the earlier Dragon Ball shows simply weren't looking to change
things up.
The radical differences in this series has been at the center of the story from its very
beginning.
They brought in a fresh generation to give it a brand new spin.
The Dragon Ball Super manga is even created by an old spin-off's author, who Toriyama
chose himself to be his successor.
In comparison, consider Dragon Ball GT, one of the most widely accepted spin-offs of the
Dragon Ball franchise.
If you watch just a few episodes, you can easily see how they still follow the same
conformity theme.
This show, the intended end of the Dragon Ball Super story, has quite a few flaws like,
I don't know, poor character development?
But the thing the show treats as similar to the canon Dragon Ball series is the natural
rankings between Goku and everyone else.
Vegeta even has to use a machine built by Bulma just to catch up to his friendly rival.
His chances to be respected, by training in a more respectable manner, is then left in
the dust while the show still found success.
Now did Toriyama expect something outside of his own mind to become so popular?
Eh, probably not.
It's just an outcome that was bound to happen after making such a great story that deeply
captures the hearts of kids.
But what I think happened is he ended up gaining far more awareness about what radical changes
could work for his creation that he had just never thought of before.
Toriyama saw for himself the kids who grew up with his original series were ready to
see their favorite characters in a different light.
Creating a brand new spin for Dragon Ball Super that consists of higher beings who hold
powers untouchable by the regular hands of a mortal.
And even more importantly, a new development for secondary characters.
But isn't Goku still surpassing all of those characters with the mastered Ultra Instinct?
Always remember, the idea of conformity will never be completely taken away from the Dragon
Ball franchise.
Because there is still a need for variance between the main character and all the other
personalities, as is the same in any anime, manga, or just story in general.
But it's no coincidence that the abnormal upgrades came at a time when the children
who watched Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z had now become adults who see the world more
complicated.
Dragon Ball Super rightfully targeted not only kids, as is it's traditional purpose,
but also the adults that were born into the franchise.
But there are also other reasons the creators did this.
After all, we're talking about a brand new generation of artists and writers as well
who wanted to add something fresh to a classic.
There's no better way to do that than to add more purpose to secondary characters and
give them a name for themselves.
But you know, giving a unique element to each individual person in the show isn't only
something supporting roles have been benefiting from.
What other mortal has been able to master, much less even access, an Angel technique?
There's a great chance secondary characters such as Vegeta, and especially Gohan, will
attain Ultra Instinct at some point as well.
And with that being said, the Ultra Instinct form is starting to look more and more like
a natural upgrade.
There aren't many changes from the original Super Saiyan form, only minor details.
Same as with Super Saiyan 3 and Super Saiyan Blue, which are both natural upgrades.
But here's the biggest and most decisive difference.
Speed.
As Whis originally explained it, this is a technique used for avoiding all danger.
There was no mention of any added strength, a requirement for a natural upgrade.
How was Goku able to do this then?
During the Kefla battle, Whis announced that Ultra Instinct could be used in other ways
than just dodging.
Thing is, this still revolves around speed.
Goku's Ultra Instinct isn't really making him any stronger, just a lot faster.
Faster at dodging.
Faster at deciding which attack is best to use.
Faster at putting that specific attack into action, ultimately making it hit more effectively,
and therefore harder.
Giving it the same effect as added strength.
Everything about this form is screaming abnormal upgrade.
A power-up model that gave the face of Dragon Ball exactly what it needed.
Makes me wonder.

Authorial Responsibility - A Video Response - Duration: 11:20.
Hi, there! It's Diane, the nursing geek, and today
I'm going to do a video response to a video response on the subject of what is
an author's responsibility. And in this case I'm specifically talking fiction,
although I think some of this holds true at least in the terms of "you need to
deliver on what you've set up" for most types of writing. So the video that I'll
link to below - and if I can do a card I'll do a card above - Kate Cavanaugh did
a video response to a podcast talking about readers feeling betrayed by the
epilogue at the end of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. And I actually agree
with a lot of the points she made, but with a little different slant
hence this video response. I will say, when I put out there that I do think
that an author has a responsibility to their reader to deliver on what they set
up, I do want to make clear I'm not talking about failing to finish a series.
There can be a number of reasons that you fail to finish the series that are
completely out of the author's control: loss of contract, loss of inspiration,
just personal life events. So, I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about in
a completed work, when you have set up certain expectations for your readers,
you do need to follow through on them, otherwise you're gonna have some very
annoyed, disappointed readers who're probably not going to come back for more.
And sometimes that is explicitly a marketing issue, such as if you're going
to stick Romeo in ... Romeo and Juliet in a romance aisle, you're gonna have some
very disappointed readers, because in the romance aisle you're pretty much
expecting a happy, happily ever after kind of ending.
So how you put it out into the world marketing wise is a piece of that.
That's a part of how you're setting expectations in your readers. But also what you put into
a story sets up expectations, because we've become trained as people within a
culture that uses certain genre tropes that if X Y Z happens, we might not know
how we're gonna get all the way here but there is an expectation we're gonna get
there somehow. And a lot of that comes down more to character and character
development than plot. Even though who lives who dies, those are plot decisions,
but how it's done is a character decision. Using the example of the
epilogue to Deathly Hallows, I'm totally in the camp that refers to it as
"Epilogue? What epliogue?" because it felt pasted on. It didn't feel like it was flowing
naturally from the seven novels that led up to it, and that's a lot of lead-up.
It made a little more sense to me when I found out she actually had the epilogue
pretty much already written first. Okay, now I can understand how it came into
being, because it would not make sense to write that after writing these seven
novels, because the characters had grown and developed in different ways than she
probably initially conceived of them. I think every author has had characters do
that to them they. They take on a life of their own,
they develop different resonances than you thought they were going to, they go
in directions you weren't planning on. And, well, to some extent, we try to
structure and contain that. Sometimes it really does seem that it takes on a life
of its own and you are sort of following along trying to just keep it knitted
together in a way that makes sense. If that happens, your ending that you
wrote beforehand is probably going to need to change. Otherwise you will have
readers sitting there going, "Where did that come from?
Is that really meant to be part of this book? Of this book series?" and feeling let
down, if nothing else. I think "betrayed" might be overstating it, but
definitely feeling let down. And that's a valid critique of anything, that you feel
the author set up certain expectations and let you down, which means you're
probably not going to go back and buy more of their books. Nobody, I think seems
to have taken it that far with JKR though. To go to a TV example, I'll go to
my favorite TV show. Why not? I'm wearing plaid. Supernatural has plenty to
critique and part of that is the way they handle killing off certain
characters. They're notorious for killing off lots of female characters and lots
of characters of color. Yes, lots of lots of characters in general die. The white
guys do tend to be the ones who are more likely to be resurrected though, so that ...
That is just a general critique, and that's part of the responsibility of
writing within a societal context in which you don't want to be contributing
- albeit I'm sure unintentionally - to a depersonalization of certain types of
characters ... certain types of people through the way you treat certain types
of characters. That's just something to be mindful of and that I do think is
probably its own other video on authorial responsibility. I'm going to
talk about specific delivering on what you set up in terms of one particular
character that was killed off actually three years ago. She had been
introduced in the seventh season of the show and an important part of her
introduction ... it's not the first thing we see of her but it is the first thing
people tend to think of when they think of the introduction of
Charlie Bradbury is her dancing up the glass elevator with headphones on.
Yes, that's relevant. It's not exactly Chekov's gun, but it is something that
was tied to her character right from the get-go and was iconically tied to her
character. In the episode in which she was killed off three seasons after that
where there's been some development. She's only been in a few episodes in
between. She's been in several in that tenth season, though, in which we saw that
she wasn't the scared little mouse she had been in that first episode where,
yeah, she definitely found the courage to do what she needed to do but she was
also like, "Lose my number. I never want to see you people again. Keep me out of this stuff."
And the second time we saw she was also, "Get ... keep me out of this.
By this point, she's become a hunter. She is voluntarily going out and looking for
monsters to kill, and she has just completed a Martha Jones-esque
traipse across Europe and Russia, apparently, to bring the MacGuffin home
of the Book of the Damned. In the process, we've seen her being chased by
the new bad guys who just got thrown in, and stabbing one of them through the
neck. So she's come a very long way. She's not just this scared little person.
We also learned along the way that she's a very resourceful person partly because
she's been on her own pretty much since the age of 12. All of these things are
relevant because of how she was killed off. I don't think many people would have
been happy she was killed off period, no matter what but the way it was done is
why a lot of people felt really betrayed, and I would go that far in this case
partly because she was not only a woman but she was also a queer woman and,
really, this is how you're gonna kill her off? She's trying to break
a code using a computer. This is why she's been brought in. She's a hacker. And this
other character, Rowena, is getting in her face, annoying her, making it impossible
for her to concentrate. You're telling me the Charlie Bradbury, this resourceful
person who was introduced wearing headphones - okay not headphones like this,
they're just the ones I happen to have - but didn't have any sort of headphones
or earbuds or anything that she brought with her when she was called in to do
heavy duty code breaking? So her only answer to dealing with this annoyance is
to leave a securely guarded place and go put herself in a completely traceable
motel room only to be killed off in the bathroom where there was a window
visible that she could have climbed out of to escape? So the problem isn't just
you killed the character off. The problem is you developed a character in a
certain way to be really resourceful, to have these certain things associated
with them, and when you killed them off you basically lobotomize them. That is, I
think, a breach of authorial responsibility, because you've violated
the expectations that you set for the reader - in this case the viewer. So that's ...
those are two examples of how I think authors need to think about being
responsible in terms of following through on what they set up. Is that
something the reader is owed or the viewer is owed? I'm not sure that's the
right word, but you can't be surprised if you pull
something like that and your readers or your viewers say, "I'm done." And I do know
people who said that after that particular episode, so I'm sure there are
people who didn't go back and read any other of JK R's stuff after Deathly
Hallows - not enough to make a drop in the bucket, apparently, but ...
So if you're gonna do something like that, think about the fact
that you are very possibly alienating your reader and ... yeah. I can see I'm
already over ten minutes, which is longer than I wanted to go so I'm gonna cut it
