Youtube daily report Feb 21 2017

DURING HIS WEEKEND CAMPAIGN RALLY, DONALD TRUMP MADE KIND OF

A WEIRD REFERENCE TO A SWEDISH INCIDENT FROM THE PREVIOUS

NIGHT.

SO I WILL CONVENE MY TOP GENERALS AND GIVE THEM A SIMPLE

INSTRUCTION -- THEY WILL HAVE 30 DAYS TO SUBMIT TO THE OVAL

OFFICE A PLAN FOR SOUNDLY AND QUICKLY DEFEATING ISIS.

HERE IS THE BOTTOM LINE, WE'VE GOT TO KEEP OUR COUNTRY SAFE.

YOU LOOK AT WHAT'S HAPPENING, WE'VE GOT TO KEEP OUR COUNTRY

SAFE.

YOU LOOK AT WHAT'S HAPPENING IN GERMANY, YOU LOOK

AT WHAT'S HAPPENING LAST NIGHT IN SWEDEN -- SWEDEN.

WOULD

BELIEVE THIS?

SWEDEN.

THEY TOOK IN LARGE NUMBERS, THEY ARE

HAVING PROBLEMS LIKE THEY NEVER THOUGHT POSSIBLE.

YOU LOOK AT

WHAT'S HAPPENING IN BRUSSELS, YOU LOOK AT WHAT'S HAPPENING ALL

OVER THE WORLD, TAKE A LOOK AT NICE.

I WILL GIVE HIM CREDIT, BECAUSE MOST OF THOSE

REFERENCES HE MADE WERE TO REAL EVENTS THAT HAPPENED.

THAT IS TRUE.

GOOD JOB THERE.

VERY QUICKLY ASIDE, I LIKE THE DEHUMANIZING

USE OF, THEY TOOK IN LARGE NUMBERS.

OF WHAT?

OF REFUGEES.

DON'T SAY THAT, JUST SAY LARGE NUMBERS.

THEY PACK THINGS IN

THERE.

HE DIDN'T EVEN HAVE TO DEHUMANIZE THEM, REFUGEE HAS

BECOME LIKE A FOUR LETTER WORD IN AMERICA AT LEAST, SO CALLING

THEM REFUGEES WOULDN'T CHANGE ANYONE ELSE'S OPINION OF WHAT'S

GOING ON IN THE COUNTRY AND WHETHER IT'S A GOOD IDEA FOR

OTHER COUNTRIES TO TAKE IN LARGE NUMBERS OF REFUGEES.

PEOPLE

OBVIOUSLY HAVE MADE UP THEIR MIND, A LOT OF WHICH -- FOR MANY

OF WHICH -- MADE UP THEIR MIND BASED ON FALSE INFORMATION THAT

YOU WILL GET TO THAT.

INITIALLY PEOPLE WONDERING WHAT HE'S TALKING ABOUT, IT

TURNS OUT THERE WERE PEOPLE IN SWEDEN, THEY READ THE NEWS AND

THEY DIDN'T HEAR ABOUT ANY TERROR ATTACK TO BE THROWN ONTO

A LIST OF OTHER ATTACKS, PEOPLE HAD FUN ONLINE, SOMEONE SAID

THIS --

GLAD TO HEAR THAT BISCUIT WAS RESCUED -- GOOD HORSE.

THEN WE

HAD THIS NEXT ONE, IKEA'S RESPONSE, IT WAS GOOD FOR

BUSINESS -- AND EVENTUALLY WE FIGURED OUT WHAT THE HELL HE WAS

TALKING ABOUT.

HE SAID THIS --

WHICH, I'M GOING TO GIVE HIM A LITTLE BIT OF CREDIT, THEY DID

ACTUALLY TALK ABOUT THAT.

AND THE WAY HE FRAMED IT WAS VAGUE

ENOUGH THAT HE MIGHT NOT HAVE THOUGHT IT WAS A TERROR ATTACK.

HE MIGHT NOT HAVE.

I COULD GO HARD AND SAY HE LISTED IT WAS

NICE AND BRUSSELS AND ALL OF THAT, CLEARLY TALKING ABOUT

TERROR ATTACKS, BUT LET'S GIVE THEM THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT.

HE GOES ON TO SAY --

AND BY THE WAY, THAT WAS IT.

"NOT."

HE DIDN'T EXPLAIN HIMSELF

FORGIVE STATISTICS OR FACTS, HE JUST ENDED IT WITH "NOT."

IT

WOULD BE LIKE SOMEONE ARGUING, I DON'T KNOW, THAT SOMEONE IS

UNQUALIFIED FOR A JOB, AND THAT PERSON RESPONDING BACK WITH, YES

I AM.

UNQUALIFIED FOR THE JOB.

BUT, LIKE, WHY?

THIS STORY

SHOULD ALARM EVERYONE IN THE COUNTRY, NOT BECAUSE IT'S A

MISSTEP --

I DON'T CARE TOO MUCH ABOUT THAT.

YEAH -- THINK ABOUT THE FACT THAT WE NOW HAVE YOUR AVERAGE

FOX NEWS VIEWER WHO IS SEVERELY MISINFORMED RUNNING THE COUNTRY.

FOX NEWS IS PROPAGANDA, WE ALL KNOW IT IS.

IT WOULD BE CRAZY IF

PEOPLE WATCHING FOX NEWS WOULDN'T CONFESS THAT IT'S

PROPAGANDA.

THEY'VE LIED ABOUT 70 STORIES, IN FACT THEY'VE LIED

ABOUT SO MONEY STORIES THEY HAD TO GO BACK AND MAKE SERIOUS

CORRECTIONS, ONE OF WHICH WAS A STORY ABOUT FOOD STAMPS THAT

ABBY HUNTSMAN HOSTED, THERE WAS ANOTHER STORY THEY HAD TO

RETRACT, IT WAS A BIG PUBLIC DEBACLE, AND SO AGAIN WE HAVE A

REGULAR TRUMP NEWS VIEWER RUNNING THE COUNTRY BASED

ON THE MISINFORMATION THEY SEE ON FOX NEWS.

EXACTLY.

AND WE READ A COUPLE OF TWEETS BECAUSE IT'S FUNNY

THAT HE MENTIONED SWEDEN, THIS FITS INTO A PATTERN FROM HIS

ADMINISTRATION WHERE CONWAY TALKS ABOUT BOWLING GREEN AND

SPICER TALKS ABOUT ATLANTA WHEN HE SAYS HE CLEARLY MEANT

ORLANDO, I DON'T THINK THEY ARE CLOSE, BUT I DON'T CARE ABOUT

THAT VERY MUCH, BUT I CARE ABOUT THE SUBSTANCE.

BECAUSE IT TURNS

OUT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT SOMETHING WHERE TUCKER CARLSON

WAS SPEAKING WITH THE DOCUMENTARIAN, TO GIVE HIM MORE

CREDIT THAN HE DESERVES, A GUY WHO MADE A DOCUMENTARY ABOUT THE

SUPPOSEDLY SHARP RISE IN CRIME IN SWEDEN BECAUSE OF RECENT

IMMIGRANTS, SPECIFICALLY MUSLIM IMMIGRANTS.

SO AT THE END OF THE

DAY JUST SAYING TRUMP WAS WRONG AND THERE WASN'T A TERROR ATTACK

IN SWEDEN COULD LEAD PEOPLE WITH THE BELIEF THAT THERE WAS NOT A

TERROR ATTACK BUT THERE IS CRIME GOING ON, AND WE WILL TURN TO

THAT BECAUSE THAT'S NOT ACTUALLY THE CASE.

A GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL

FROM SWEDEN SAYS THIS --

WHAT THEY ARE GETTING INTO THERE IS THE ACTUAL CRIME

STATISTICS, WHICH YOU WOULD THINK YOU WOULD CARE ABOUT IF

YOU WERE GOING TO DISCUSS THIS, BUT IT TURNS OUT THE

DOCUMENTARIAN RELIED ON TESTIMONY FROM A COUPLE OF COPS,

AND WE WILL TURN TO WHY THAT IS PROBLEMATIC, AND TUCKER CARLSON

DIDN'T LOOK INTO THE NUMBERS, HE JUST ACCEPTED AT FACE VALUE WHAT

THIS RIGHT-WING PROVOCATEUR MAKING THIS DOCUMENTARY WAS

SAYING.

THEY HAD QUOTES FROM THE COPS, IT SEEMED LIKE THEY WERE

SAYING THERE WAS A LOT OF CRIME BECAUSE OF IMMIGRANTS, BUT WHEN

YOU REACH OUT TO THE COPS THEY SAY --

ONE OF THE COPS WHO WAS INTERVIEWED FOR THE DOCUMENTARY

SAID --

SO THE DOCUMENTARIAN TAKES THEIR ANSWERS TO ONE QUESTION,

LINKS THEM UP WITH OTHER QUESTIONS, TO GIVE YOU A FALSE

IMPRESSION OF WHAT IS GOING ON WITH SWEDEN.

A REGULAR FOX WHO

SEES THAT, OKAY, THEY ARE WRONG ABOUT SWEDEN, THEY MISINFORM

PEOPLE IN THEIR WORKPLACE OR SOMETHING, BUT AS YOU SAID IT IS

A PROBLEM WHEN THE PRESIDENT HAS NO HIGHER STANDARDS THAN THAT.

REASONABLY ACCEPTS WHAT THIS GUY SAYS ON TUCKER CARLSON AND

IMMEDIATELY INTEGRATES IT IN HIS STUMP SPEECHES WITHOUT ANY

ADDITIONAL RESEARCH OR VERIFICATION.

IT'S MIRACULOUS HOW MUCH TIME TRUMP SPENT ON TWO DIFFERENT

THINGS -- THING NUMBER ONE IS HOW MUCH CABLE NEWS HE WATCHES,

IT'S NOT JUST FOX NEWS, HE WATCHES MSNBC AND CNN AS WELL,

AND YOU KNOW WHAT HIS PREFERRED NETWORK IS, IT'S THE ONE HE

APPLAUDED WHILE HE WAS, YOU KNOW, SPEAKING PUBLICLY ABOUT

ALL THESE NEWS SHOWS, HE'S LIKE FOX NEWS IS GREAT AND EVERYTHING

ELSE SUCKS -- THAT SHOULD WORRY YOU -- BUT THE SECOND THING HE

SPENT A LOT OF TIME DOING IS VACATIONING IN MAR-A-LAGO EVERY

WEEKEND.

AT WHAT POINT DOES HE SIT DOWN AND THINK ABOUT

POLICIES THAT WOULD BENEFIT THE SAME SOCIOECONOMICALLY

DISADVANTAGED PEOPLE WHO VOTED FOR HIM?

I DON'T KNOW.

BUT THIS

OBSESSION WITH CABLE NEWS SHOULD WORRY YOU BECAUSE HE WILL CRAFT

HIS POLICIES BASED ON WHAT HE SEES, AND RIGHT NOW THERE IS A

LOT OF PROPAGANDA BEING SPEWED BY HOSTS ON FOX NEWS, HE

SURROUNDS HIMSELF WITH CRAZY CONSPIRACY THEORISTS, AND IF YOU

LOOK AT THE NUMBERS, IF YOU JUST SPEND FIVE MINUTES AND DO A

QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH AND LOOK AT ALL THE CHARTS AND GRAPHS

RELATED TO THE CRIME RATES IN SWEDEN, YOU WILL SEE THAT IT IS

MISINFORMATION TIMES 100.

LET'S GET TO THAT.

QUEST WE WILL SAVE

THEM THAT GOOGLING, BECAUSE IT'S ONE THING TO SHOW THAT THE COPS

WERE TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT, FOX NEWS ON THEIR FRONT PAGE AT A

SWEDISH COP THAT AGREES WITH THE DOCUMENTARY, BUT AT THE END OF

THE DAY IF ONE COP AGREES OR TWO FEEL THEY WERE LIED TO, REALITY

IS NOT UP TO THEM.

YOU CAN ACTUALLY FIND OUT WHAT THE CRIME

RATES ARE.

SO LET'S BRING UP THE FIRST CHART, BOTH OF THESE

CHARTS HAVE BEEN COMPILED BY VOX USING PUBLICLY AVAILABLE

INFORMATION FROM SWEDEN, THAT SHOWS GOING BACK TO 2005 THE

AMOUNT OF IMMIGRATION PER YEAR OVER A DECADE LONG PERIOD,

THAT'S A GOOD AMOUNT OF IMMIGRATION GOING ON, IN FACT

IT'S RISING AS WE GET CLOSER TO RECENT YEARS.

AND YOU WOULD

EXPECT, WELL, IF WE ARE INTEGRATING MORE AND MORE

IMMIGRANTS AND THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR CRIME, MAN, THAT

CRIME MUST BE POPPING RECENTLY.

LET'S BRING UP A BREAKDOWN OF

DIFFERENT CATEGORIES OF CRIMES.

YOU SEE THAT SOME OF THEM IN

FACT ARE DOWN FROM 2005, ALL THE REST, MAY BE SLIGHT VARIATIONS

OF LESS THAN HALF A PERCENTAGE POINT PER YEAR, BUT LARGELY

STAGNANT, IF NOT LOWER.

INCLUDING, BY THE WAY, THE AREA OF CRIME THEY ALWAYS TALK

ABOUT, SEXUAL CRIMES.

RAPES.

THEY LOVE TO TALK ABOUT RAPE, DON'T LIKE TO TALK STATISTICS.

LET ME ELABORATE FURTHER, THEY DO LOVE TO TALK A LOT ABOUT HOW

THESE REFUGEES ARE COMING INTO THE COUNTRY AND SEXUALLY

ASSAULTING AND RAPING THESE WOMEN.

FIRST OF ALL, IN SWEDEN

THE INCIDENTS OF RAPE ARE REALLY HIGH, OR THEY SEEM HIGH,

COMPARED TO OTHER COUNTRIES, BECAUSE IN SWEDEN THEY ACTUALLY

TAKE RAPE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT SERIOUSLY, SO THEY HAVE A WIDER

DEFINITION OF WHAT CONSTITUTES RAPE.

THAT IS ONE THING TO TAKE

INTO CONSIDERATION.

ANOTHER THING TO CONSIDER IS IT IS NOT

REFUGEES COMMITTING THESE CRIMES.

IN FACT SOME OF THE

STUDIES INDICATE THAT ABOUT 1% OF THE CRIME IN SWEDEN CAN BE

TREATED TO REFUGEES.

WHEN IT COMES TO SEXUAL ASSAULT OR RAPE

IT HAS BEEN A PROBLEM IN THE COUNTRY BECAUSE OF THEIR

DEFINITION OF WHAT CONSTITUTES RAPE OR SEXUAL ASSAULT.

THESE

ARE ALL THE NUANCES THAT PEOPLE WHO ARE AFRAID OF THE OTHERS,

WHO HAVE BEEN MISLED BY THE PROPAGANDA REGARDING REFUGEES,

WILL LOOK INTO BECAUSE THEY HAVE ALREADY MADE UP THEIR MIND THAT

THESE ARE DANGEROUS INDIVIDUALS.

BUT THESE ARE ACTUALLY PEOPLE

TRYING TO LEAVE THEIR COUNTRY, THE ONLY COUNTRY THEY HAVE EVER

KNOWN, BECAUSE THEY NEED SAFETY.

THEY WANT TO SAVE THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS AND PROVIDE A

BETTER OPPORTUNITY NOT JUST FOR THEMSELVES BUT FOR THEIR

FAMILY MEMBERS WHO MIGHT GET SLAUGHTERED IN THEIR

WAR-TORN COUNTRY.

EXACTLY.

IN THE MOST RECENT INFORMATION WHICH IS NOT ON THAT

CHART SHOWS THE CRIME RATES ARE ROUGHLY AT 2005 LEVELS.

THAT

COMES AFTER ABOUT A DECADE OF INTEGRATING REFUGEES INTO THEIR

SOCIETY, AND IT SHOWS CRIME NOT ONLY NOT SPIKING BUT EVEN GOING

LOWER, SO AS TRUMP TRIES TO MISLEAD YOU ABOUT THE EFFECT WE

WOULD HAVE IF WE BROUGHT IN MORE IMMIGRANTS, THIS DATA SHOWS WE

MIGHT DO JUST FINE.

BUT HE IS MISLEADING YOU ABOUT THAT, THAT

SHOULD BOTHER YOU.

HE IS ALSO TAKING SWEDEN, WHICH IS A

LONG-STANDING ALLY OF THE UNITED STATES, AND LYING ABOUT THEM AND

THEIR RECORD, MAKING THEM OUT TO BE EFFECTIVELY SOCIETALLY

SUICIDAL, IF YOU WILL, TO PROVE A POINT THAT DIDN'T EVEN NEED

THE INCLUSION.

HE COULD'VE JUST TALKED ABOUT ACTUAL INCIDENTS OF

TERROR LIKE IN NICE AND BRUSSELS.

THERE ARE SO MANY RAMIFICATIONS TO THESE KIND OF

MISSTEPS.

MAKING MISTAKES IS ONE THING, BUT WHAT HE SAID LED TO

OFFICIALS IN SWEDEN, POLITICIANS IN SWEDEN, KIND OF SOURING THEIR

PERSPECTIVE ON THE UNITED STATES, WHICH ISN'T GOOD, YOU

DON'T WANT THAT, AND ALSO AGAIN IT SHAPES POLICY.

IT SHAPES

POLICY HERE, IT MIGHT SHAPE POLICY ABROAD, THE FEAR

MONGERING ABOUT REFUGEES IS CRAZY AND IF YOU CARE ABOUT

FACTS AND ACTUAL INFORMATION THAT'S NOT SKEWED BASED ON

PROPAGANDA, DO THE RESEARCH.

DON'T BELIEVE US IF YOU DON'T

WANT TO, I JUST WANT PEOPLE IN THIS DAY AND AGE WHERE FAKE NEWS

IS AN ISSUE, NOT THE KIND OF FAKE NEWS DONALD TRUMP TALKS

ABOUT --

WHICH WE CALL THE NEWS.

YOU SHOULD BE AN ADVOCATE FOR YOURSELF, ANYTIME YOU HEAR

AN ELECTED OFFICIAL WEATHER IT IS DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN

CLAIMING SOMETHING OUTRAGEOUS, LOOK INTO IT YOURSELF AND

SEE WHAT THE REALITY IS.

I WANT TO EXPAND, ANA POINTED OUT SOME OF THE REASONS THE

SEXUAL ASSAULT RATE IN SWEDEN SEEMS HIGHER, AND BASICALLY WHAT

IT DOES IS, IT IS PUNISHING THEM FOR BEING MORE LIBERAL IN THIS

REGARD.

HERE IS WHAT IT SEEMS HIGHER -- AS YOU POINTED OUT

THEIR DEFINITION IS BROADER, ACTIVITIES LIKE HAVING SEX WITH

SOMEONE WHILE THEY ARE SLEEPING ARE COUNTED AS SEXUAL ASSAULT,

WHEREAS IN MANY COUNTRIES EVEN IN EUROPE IT ISN'T COUNTED AS

THAT, IT MAKES SENSE THAT IT SHOULD BE, AND SO THEIR NUMBERS

ARE MORE ACCURATE.

ALSO THEY COUNT EACH INSTANCE AS A

SEPARATE ATTACK, SO IF SOMEONE WERE TO, SAY, ASSAULT A KID

HUNDREDS OF TIMES, THAT WOULD COUNT AS HUNDREDS OF ATTACKS.

WAS OTHER COUNTRIES IT WOULD COUNT AS ONE THING.

SO THERE

THEY ARE BEING PUNISHED FOR BEING CLOSER TO REALITY.

IT IS

LIKE A BUSINESS THAT CHOSE TO INCLUDE TAX ON THE PRICE, YOU

THINK YOU ARE BEING CHARGED MORE, THAT'S WHY COMPANIES HAVE

TO LIE TO YOU.

COUNTRIES TOO, IT TURNS OUT.

EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE YOU WILL HEAR PUBLIC FIGURES, WHETHER IT

IS A LIBERAL OR CONSERVATIVE PUBLIC FIGURE, ASKING WHY IT IS

THAT SOME MUSLIMS -- MUSLIM EXTREMISTS -- HATE US.

AND

IMMEDIATELY THEY WILL ANSWER THEIR OWN QUESTION AND SAY IT'S

BECAUSE OF OUR FREEDOM.

COUNTRIES LIKE SWEDEN, WHERE THE

QUALITY OF LIFE TYPICALLY DOES BETTER THAN THE QUALITY OF LIFE

HERE IN THE UNITED STATES, STUDY AFTER STUDY, THAT'S THE KIND OF

COUNTRY WHERE WE SHOULD BE APPLAUDING THEIR FREEDOM.

WE ARE

THE COUNTRY THAT IMPRISONS MORE PEOPLE THAN ANY OTHER COUNTRY IN

THE WORLD, WE ARE THE COUNTRY THAT APPARENTLY IS NOW LED BY

PROPAGANDA AS OPPOSED TO REAL INFORMATION, FACTS, WE ARE THE

COUNTRY WHO HAS POLITICIANS THAT PRETEND LIKE THEY CARE ABOUT

ISSUES INVOLVING RAPE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT BUT CONSISTENTLY VOTE

AGAINST LEGISLATION LIKE THE VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN ACT,

CONSISTENTLY VOTE AGAINST LEGISLATION THAT WOULD DO AWAY

WITH PRISON RAPE OR RAPE IN THE MILITARY -- NO, SWEDEN IS AN

EXAMPLE OF A SOCIETY THAT ACTUALLY WORKS.

SO TO SIT HERE

AND PRETEND AS IF THEY ARE SO WRONG AND CRIME IS TERRIBLE AND

IT'S A HORRIBLE COUNTRY IS JUST SO INCREDIBLY INSULTING BECAUSE

THERE IS A LOT WE CAN LEARN FROM SWEDEN.

IF YOU WERE WATCHING THE SHOW LAST WEEK, ANA DID A STORY ON

THE EFFECT OF LATIN AND SOUTHERN AMERICAN IMMIGRANTS BEING

INTEGRATED INTO THE U.S., AND THE EFFECT ON CRIME, AND AGAIN

IT SHOWED IT DIDN'T CAUSE AN EXPLOSION IN CRIME AND COULD

STIMULATE THE ECONOMY.

AND WE WERE TALKING ABOUT SWEDEN --

FROM MEXICO AND LATIN AMERICA, DIFFERENT CONTEXTS, DIFFERENT

CULTURES, DIFFERENT HISTORY THAN IN SWEDEN, BUT IN BOTH CASES IT

SHOWS THIS CAN BE DONE WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS FOR THE HOST STATE.

AT SOME POINT MAYBE PEOPLE'S BELIEFS ABOUT THE WORLD AND

IMMIGRANTS SHOULD CHANGE, BUT UNFORTUNATELY THAT IS EXTREMELY

SLOW TO HAPPEN.

What are vertical asymptotes? - Duration: 6:26.

You've probably heard of vertical asymptotes, but do you know why they exist or what they

actually are?

To give you some idea, vertical asymptotes are kind of like fences built along a line

running through a certain point on the x-axis on the graph of a function.

The graph of a function can get close to the asymptote from either side, but it'll never

be able to cross or even touch it at all.

Perhaps we could think of it as an electric fence, or, since vertical asymptotes are usually

drawn as dotted lines, they're like invisible electric fences.

Let's call this line, the vertical asymptote, x=a, for some real number a.

Along the x-axis here, you can see that the graph of the function moves infinitely closer

to the vertical asymptote, but the actual value of x will never ever ever be equal to

a.

Even if we zoom in thousands of times, you'll find that the the two lines will never actually

touch.

Because they never touch, you may be imagining that the two lines are somehow parallel, but

in order to be parallel, these lines would need to have exactly the same slope.

The slope of the asymptote, though, is completely vertical, and the slope of the function is

constantly changing.

So the lines are definitely not parallel, but instead just infinitely close together.

Another question you may have when dealing with asymptotes is how they are different

from holes, or removable discontinuities.

Both are places on the function where the graph is discontinuous, right?

Well, let's take a look.

Here's a graph with an asymptote at x=3, and here's one with a hole at x=3.

Notice that for the hole, the function approaches a certain y-value, 2, as it approaches the

undefined x-value from both sides.

That is, the limit from both sides of the hole is the same.

In the function with the vertical asymptote, on the other hand, the function goes to positive

infinity as it approaches x=3.

So, the limit doesn't exist as x approaches the vertical asymptote, which makes vertical

asymptotes very different from removable discontinuities.

So, what we know now is that a vertical asymptote is not only a place on the graph where the

function is undefined, but also a place where the limit, as x approaches the vertical asymptote,

doesn't exist.

These facts also tell us that vertical asymptotes are non-differentiable, since differentiability

would require both continuity and the existence of a limit.

In the same way, vertical asymptotes also cannot be critical points or inflection points,

since one of the basic parameters for these points is to exist on the function.

Neither critical points nor inflection points ever occur at a discontinuity.

Now that we know what vertical asymptotes are and are not, the natural next question

is, when do these vertical asymptotes appear?

That is, how can we tell that a function will or will not have a vertical asymptote?

Most often, we run into vertical asymptotes when dealing with rational functions.

Rational functions, remember, are the ones that look like this, with a numerator and

denominator.

These functions have vertical asymptotes whenever they are undefined, and they are undefined

whenever their denominator is equal to zero, because of course dividing by zero can't be

done.

So if we're given a rational function, how do we actually find any vertical asymptotes

that it might have?

We can find any vertical asymptotes by setting the denominator equal to 0 and solving for

the variable.

In this case, we'd find that x=4, so there's a vertical asymptote along the line x=4 on

the graph.

Of course, not all rational functions have vertical asymptotes.

There are plenty of rational functions with denominators that are never equal to zero,

such as this equation, 1/(x^2+4).

If we set this denominator equal to zero and try to solve for x, we get that x is equal

to the square root of negative four, which is not a real number, and therefore, this

is not a vertical asymptote.

There are tons of examples of rational functions like this, so we can't ever assume that a

function has a vertical asymptote just because it's a rational function.

We also can't assume that just because a function isn't rational it doesn't have a vertical

asymptote.

In fact, there's another type of function that always has a vertical asymptote, and

that is the logarithmic function.

Looking at the graph of y=ln(x), it does look like as x approaches zero from the right side,

y approaches negative infinity.

Since logarithms are not defined for numbers that are not positive , there will be a vertical

asymptote at zero.

Other logarithmic functions, similarly, have vertical asymptotes wherever the input to

the function, or the argument, is not positive.

So for y=log_10(x+6), the vertical asymptote will be at -6, because at this point, the

input to the function would be log_10(0), which is undefined.

On the graph, the curve would never cross the line at x=-6.

So if a vertical asymptote is an invisible electric fence, we now know how to discover

that fence and understand why it exists.

To review, vertical asymptotes are places on the graph of a function where the function

is not defined and where the limit, as x approaches the asymptote, does not exist.

We also know that vertical asymptotes exist in both rational and logarithmic functions,

and we know how to find them in both.

In rational functions, we set the denominator of the function equal to zero and solve for

the variable.

And in logarithmic functions, we see where the argument of the function would be equal

to zero, and know that the vertical asymptote would be along that line.

Detectan 234 señales de «inteligencias extraterrestres/ 234 extraterrestrial signals are detected - Duration: 4:26.

Canadian scientists, were able to detect up to 234 through digital devises

From different stars

A scan was done on one or two million stars

And these signs were found

That we think, is the beginning of change that must be done

We are trying to find analog signals

That is absolutely absurd

I hope people heed them, they are university students

Highly trained

Like Ermanno Borra, who gave us an interview

In October 2016 two astronomers from Canada

Reported they have detected 234 signals, that might be generated by extraterrestrial civilizations

The physicists Ermanno Borra and Eric Trottier

From University Laval in Quebec

Looked for specific and fast signals, to be repeated

and they reviewed among two and a half million stars

Similar to the sun

And found out that 234 stars

Signals are being continuously emitted

That came to our planet

An issue that Borra and Trottier

had foreseen

That other extraterrestrial intelligences were trying to communicate with us

Through laser pulse

Borra and Trottier investigated through the database of the digital sky mapping SLOAN

is a set of telescopes

Which permanently observe the universe

Analyzed a database obtained, during over 10 years of observations

They chose to seek among two and a half million stars

orange and yellow

The 234 signals were found, with Borra and Trottier mathematical analysis

Third Millennium team, was the first media

Who will interview exclusively, the discoverer of the 234 signs

Very possibly of extraterrestrial intelligences

The 234 signals come form stars similar to our sun

This increases the possibility of the existence of planets

receiving an adequate amount of light

For intelligent life

Although the intelligent extraterrestrial life search scientists project

CETI, Are skeptical about the discovery

Ermanno Borra and Eric Trottier

Do not consider this to be a mistake

And Assured they were very careful about the analysis

The only explanation is these are signals from extraterrestrial intelligences

Borra pointed out, that further researching needed to be done

To confirm this discovery

Other measurements, with different telescopes

by different scientists

To prove that it is indeed, one of the most important news

For its impact on humanity

Labour Contracts and Liabilities - Duration: 5:05.

An employee could be eligible for open-ended contract in a few situations.

The first one is that the employee has worked for the employer for more than 10 years; the

second one is that the employee and employer have signed two times of fixed term contract

and both parties agree to renew the contract.

For this situation the practices are a bit different in China in different places.

The third one is that both parties maintained the employment relationship for over a year

without a written contract.

Generally, there're two parts of liabilities if the company doesn't want to renew the

contract.

The first situation is that according to the Labour Contract Law of PRC, the company doesn't

have to sign an open ended contract with an employee.

In this case, the contract can be expired but the employer should pay economic compensation

to the employee.

The economic compensation is calculated based on the number of years that the employee has

worked for the employer, at the rate of one monthly wage per full year of work.

For any period of more than 6 months and less than one year, it's calculated as one full

year; for any period of less than 6 months it's counted as half of a year.

Here's a cap issue for those people who get higher salary.

If the employee's salary is higher than 3 times of the average monthly salary of people

declared by the local people's government, then it's capped at 3 times of monthly average

salary.

The number of years is capped at no more than 12 years of the employee's work.

Another situation is that according to the law, the employer has to sign an open-ended

contract with an employee, in this case if there's no legal reasons found to support

such expiration of contract then it'll be deemed as illegal termination.

If you want to terminate an employee before the expiration of the contract without any

legal reason to support that, this termination should be deemed as illegal termination.

There're two possible liabilities based on different claims from the employee.

First one is that if the employee claims to return to work, the employer should offer

the original job or provide another job for the employee, as long as the employee's

claim is supported by the labour dispute arbitration commission or the court, unless proved by

the employer that after the dismissal the employee has worked for another company, or

it's objectively impossible for the employee to come back to work.

Alternatively, the employee may choose to ask for economic compensation from the employer

due to the illegal termination.

In this situation, the employee is supposed to be paid a compensation which equals to

double economic compensation.

The first and the best way to resolve a dispute is to avoid the dispute.

For example, it's essential for the company to maintain compliance management.

If you want to terminate an employee, it's suggested that you try to meet all the legal

conditions and go through legal procedures.

In some cases it's very hard for the company to find enough evidence terminate an employment

relationship unilaterally, but from the perspective of business management, some employees may

not be kept any more.

In this case it's strongly recommended to choose mutual termination.

After a labour dispute happened, there're still many opportunities for the employer

and employee to reach an agreement through negotiation and mediation if the company wants

to avoid potential litigation risks.

If it is meaningless for the company to negotiate, unilateral termination or waiting

for a result of judgment is also a possible option.

But really be careful that before taking this route the employer should know all the potential

risks for every step.

EXCLUSIVE: Port Authority eyeing harness-equipped suicide prevention units on George Washington B... - Duration: 3:59.

At least one Emergency Service Unit tandem — two cops equipped with harnesses — would be permanently stationed on the George Washington Bridge to more quickly respond to people trying to jump from the iconic span, according to a proposal under consideration.

The Port Authority Police Department's top cop said Monday that the plan would be discussed Tuesday — among other options — to address safety concerns raised by union officials and officers assigned to the agency's suicide prevention team.

"The safety of our officers is the most important thing," said Port Authority Police Superintendent Michael Fedorko. "I want to give them all the support they need."

The Daily News reported Sunday that members of the Port Authority Police Department's Suicide Prevention Walkway Patrol-Suicide Prevention Team saved 70 people from jumping from the George Washington Bridge last year.

Union officials said the cops who perform the daring rescues do so without safety harnesses that are available online for $40. Cops have repeatedly requested the agency pay for the harnesses, union officials told The News.

Until Monday, Port Authority officials had been silent on the issue — failing to respond to repeated requests for comment from The News.

(Susan Watts/New York Daily News)

Fedorko said he would not rule out equipping the "Suicide Squad" officers with the harnesses, but he made clear that his preference is for the tactically trained Port Authority ESU squad to already be in place if jumpers try to commit suicide.

About 75 cops are assigned to the George Washington Bridge on a given day, all of whom can respond to a report of a jumper. Of those, four suicide prevention officers are specifically assigned to patrol the walkways.

Fedorko said he only learned of the officers' concerns after reading articles in The News about the issue.

"They never brought it to my attention," he said. "It's something I was not aware of until I read the articles in the paper."

But the police officers' union said it has repeatedly asked agency heads for harnesses so they can strap in before grabbing someone dangling off the edge of the bridge's walkway, preparing to jump.

Front page of the New York Daily News for February 19, 2017: How the Port Authority's 'suicide squad' fights for the lives of others every day on the George Washington Bridge. HEROES ON THE BRIDGE

(New York Daily News)

"The Port Authority Police Benevolent Association, through its representatives at the PAPD's George Washington Bridge Police Command, made numerous requests for harnesses to the command's current commanding officer and previous commanding officers," said union spokesman Robert Egbert. "The PBA has no knowledge if those requests were properly processed within the department's chain of command."

Union officials say they reiterated the harness request last year after a 54-year-old man climbed to the "top of the steel," the highest point on the New Jersey tower, about 600 feet in the air.

Both Port Authority and NYPD cops climbed to the top on Oct. 28 to talk Alberto Hernandez out of jumping.

But the NYPD's ESU cops had harnesses. The Port Authority patrol officers didn't have anything to prevent them from being blown right off the spire.

Union officials said many cops on the walkway patrol want to buy their own harnesses, but don't because if they're caught using them they would get in trouble for using unauthorized equipment.

"The safety of our officers is the most important thing," said Port Authority Police Superintendent Michael Fedorko.

(Susan Watts/New York Daily News)

The Port Authority's ESU officers, like the NYPD's elite team, are already equipped with harnesses, and are trained for such rescues. But the patrol officers are often on the scene first.

Fedorko said that needs to change.

"If we do this they're going to be at the bridge all the time," Fedorko said, referring to the Port Authority Police Department's ESU. "It makes sense to have a truck there."

Officials said if an ESU truck is permanently stationed on the bridge, it would be done in such a way to minimize the impact on traffic. Fedorko said officials still need to determine how many units would be needed, and where they would be stationed along the bridge.

A decision could be made as soon as Tuesday, he added.

The agency has already promised to speed construction of safety fencing along the milelong span. Completion of a permanent safety barrier is expected to take several years, while the cops are called on to save would-be jumpers about once every four days.

GloZell Green, YouTube star who interviewed Obama, reveals surrogate will suffer miscarriage - Duration: 1:44.

YouTube star GloZell Green revealed Monday that the surrogate carrying her second child will not be able to carry the fetus to term.

Green, 44, announced on her Awestruck YouTube series "Glo All In" that surrogate Shawna Johnson, who is seven weeks pregnant, will suffer a miscarriage.

"We found out that the baby is not going to make it," she said. "Shawna will be having a miscarriage. That's the crazy part about this now: (we're) waiting, waiting on this to happen."

Green and husband Kevin Simon revealed in January that Johnson would carry their second child — she gave birth to their first child, O'Zell, in August.

But Johnson's hormone levels were low and, despite taking medication three times a day and getting her blood tested every two days, the doctor warned that "it was a matter of her health."

YouTube star GloZell Green, shown here at the Glamour Women Of The Year 2016 LIVE Summit, revealed Monday that her surrogate will suffer a miscarriage.

(Mike Windle/Getty Images for Glamour)

Green said that she'd promised herself this would be her last attempt to have a child, but Johnson convinced her to try a 10th round of IVF.

"Shawna sent me a text and said 'I know you said you don't want to do this again and won't do this again, but I want to do it again,'" she said on "Go All In." "If she's willing to do that, then so am I. I am totally thinking 10th time's the charm."

In the mean time, Green said she'll do whatever she can to prepare her body for the next round of treatment, including dieting, exercise and homeopathic remedies.

"I do believe that O'Zell needs a sibling," she said. "She needs to have someone to play with."

Trump Cites Fake Terror Attack In Sweden - Duration: 15:41.

LEAKED: Trump Talks To His "Special People" - Duration: 6:06.

A TAPE HAS BEEN UNEARTHED OF DONALD TRUMP SPEAKING TO PAYING

MEMBERS OF ONE OF HIS GOLF CLUBS SHORTLY AFTER HE WON LAST

NOVEMBER'S ELECTION, AND HE MAKES CLEAR THAT HE WILL

INTEGRATE HIS BUSINESSES WITH HIS ADMINISTRATION TO WHATEVER

EXTENT WE ALLOW.

GOOD.

WELL, I'M GLAD THAT THE STAFFING OF OUR GOVERNMENT,

WHICH WE KNOW HE DIDN'T DO A GOOD JOB OF, PROBABLY THIS IS A

GOOD EXPLANATION AS TO WHY, BECAUSE RATHER THAN BUCKLING

DOWN AND GOING TO WASHINGTON AND GETTING DONE HE'S DOING IT

AMONGST PAYING CLUB MEMBERS, MAYBE THAT'S WHY HE DOESN'T HAVE

NOMINEES FOR A NUMBER OF EXTREMELY IMPORTANT AND

SENSITIVE POSITIONS, BUT IN THE MEANTIME FOR THE ONES HE DID

INTERVIEW, GOT TO MAKE SOME MONEY OFF OF IT IF IT CAN MAKE

PEOPLE MORE EXCITED ABOUT ONE OF YOUR CLUBS AND POSSIBLY LEAK

SOME SENSITIVE INFORMATION TO THEM AT THE SAME TIME, WHY NOT?

HILLARY CLINTON IS SO CROOKED, ANYONE WHO HELPS HER BENEFIT

FINANCIALLY GETS FAVORS --

WAIT, THAT WASN'T HILLARY CLINTON, THAT WAS DONALD TRUMP.

OR BETH AT THE VERY LEAST.

HOW ABOUT BOTH?

THOSE CRITICISMS OF HILLARY CLINTON WERE JUSTIFIED, AND THEY

WERE MADE ON THIS SHOW ON A REGULAR BASIS, RIGHT?

BUT THE

REASON I BRING THAT UP IS BECAUSE ONE OF THE BIGGEST

ARGUMENTS AGAINST HILLARY AND IN FAVOR OF SOMEONE LIKE DONALD

TRUMP WAS THAT, OH, HE'S NOT CORRUPTED BY THE SAME CORRUPT --

FOR THE SAME CORRUPTION HILLARY CLINTON IS DEALING WITH.

THESE

NOT A CAREER POLITICIAN, HE WILL LOOK OUT FOR THE LITTLE GUY.

BUT

THERE HE IS AT THIS RESORT WHERE PEOPLE PAY $200,000 A YEAR JUST

TO BE MEMBERS --

I'M NOT SURE WHAT THE DUES ARE AT THIS CLUB, IT'S DIFFERENT

FROM MAR-A-LAGO, IT'S A PAYING CLUB BUT YOU CAN BET IT'S NOT

CHEAP.

I APOLOGIZE FOR NOT KNOWING THE PRICE, BUT THEY ARE PAID

MEMBERS, AND THROUGH THAT LEAKED AUDIO YOU CAN TELL THAT HE

PRIORITIZES CERTAIN PEOPLE OVER THE NEEDS AND THE WANTS AND BEST

INTERESTS OF OTHER PEOPLE, WHICH IS WHY IT'S SO MUCH OF A PROBLEM

TO HAVE A PRESIDENT THAT HAS THESE CONFLICTS OF INTEREST.

CORRUPTION HAS BEEN A PROBLEM IN THE UNITED STATES FOR A

LONG TIME BUT WITH ITS MORE TRANSPARENT AND HE'S ALMOST

NORMALIZED IT.

AND THE THING THAT REALLY BOTHERS ME ABOUT THIS, IS YOU

ADD THIS ONTO MAR-A-LAGO, AND YOU SHOW THE PICTURE, THE GUY

WHO HOLDS THE NUCLEAR FOOTBALL IS POSING FOR PICTURES WITH

PEOPLE, HE'S DISCUSSING NORTH KOREA'S NUCLEAR BALLISTIC

MISSILE TECHNOLOGY IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUNCH OF PEOPLE WITH CELL

PHONES AND RECORDING EQUIPMENT, AND HE'S DOING ALL OF THIS

BECAUSE EITHER HE'S SO AVERSE TO ACTUALLY WORKING AND HE CAN'T

HELP BUT GO TO A GOLF CLUB OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT, HE HAS TO

BE AT MAR-A-LAGO, AND HE WANTS PEOPLE TO PAY AND THINK IF I GO

HERE IMPORTANT THINGS WILL HAPPEN -- BUT WHAT'S INTERESTING

ABOUT THIS FORM OF CORRUPTION AS WE HAVE SEEN EVENTS LIKE THIS A

LOT AND IT ALWAYS BOTHERED US HERE AT TYT THAT YOU WILL HAVE A

FUNDRAISER WHERE IF IT'S HILLARY CLINTON OR BARACK OBAMA OR

WHOEVER, THEY WILL FILL A ROOM WITH PEOPLE WHO PAY THOUSANDS OF

DOLLARS TO BE THERE SO THEY CAN SIT WITH THE PRESIDENT AND HAVE

THE EAR OF THE PRESIDENT OR A POLITICIAN AND TRY TO INFLUENCE

THEM, AND WE DON'T LIKE THEM USING THEIR POSITION FOR MONEY.

BUT AS MUCH AS THAT BOTHERS US AND WE BACK A CONSTITUTIONAL

AMENDMENT TO TRY TO CHANGE THAT SYSTEM, AT LEAST AT SOME LEVEL

AS A HUMAN YOU CAN UNDERSTAND THAT THEY ARE TRYING TO GET THAT

MONEY SO THEY CAN RUN AGAIN AND KEEP THEIR JOB.

TRUCK ISN'T

DOING THAT, HE'S DOING IT JUST TO LINE HIS ALREADY SUPPOSEDLY

RICH POCKETS.

IT'S NOT LIKE TO SAVE HIS CAREER, HE JUST WANTS A

LITTLE BIT OF MONEY.

SO IT'S NOT EVEN UNDERSTANDABLE IN TERMS OF

JOB SECURITY, LIKE THE WAY IT NORMALLY IS IN OUR CORRUPT

SYSTEM.

IT'S TOTALLY UNNECESSARY.

YOU ARE RIGHT, THE EXCUSES YOU HEAR OVER AND OVER AGAIN WHEN IT

COMES TO FUNDRAISING EFFORTS IS, THAT'S JUST THE NATURE OF THE

BEAST, THAT'S HOW OUR SYSTEM WORKS, IF THEY DON'T DO THE

FUNDRAISING THEY WON'T GET REELECTED.

IN THIS CASE, THAT'S

NOT WHAT IS HAPPENING.

I THINK AS TIME GOES ON AND HIS POLICIES

ROLLOUT, PEOPLE WHO ARE FROM A LOWER SOCIOECONOMIC STATUS AND

GOT CONNED BY HIM WILL REALIZE THAT HE'S NOT LOOKING OUT FOR

THEM.

IT WAS A TOUGH ELECTION BECAUSE WE HAD TWO CANDIDATES

WHO I THINK DIDN'T CARE TO LOOK OUT FOR THE LITTLE GUY.

YOU HAD

ONE CANDIDATE WHO PRETENDED TO BY SAYING THAT HE'S GOING TO

BRING BACK MANUFACTURING JOBS.

BUT AGAIN, I THINK AMERICANS

RIGHT NOW ARE FIGHTING FOR SCRAPS.

MANUFACTURING JOBS WERE

IMPORTANT TO A LOT OF PEOPLE FOR DECADES, BUT THE REALITY IS THAT

IT'S NOT IMMIGRANTS COMING INTO THE COUNTRY STEALING YOUR JOBS,

IT'S NOT THAT ALL OF THESE JOBS ARE BEING SHIPPED OVERSEAS,

WHAT'S REALLY HAPPENING IS A LOT OF THESE JOBS ARE NOW AUTOMATED.

WHAT IS TRUMP GOING TO DO ABOUT THAT?

SO I'M CURIOUS TO SEE WHAT

WILL HAPPEN AS HIS POLICIES ROLLOUT AND PEOPLE REALIZE, OH

WAIT, HE'S NOT HELPING ME ECONOMICALLY.

MSIA | John-Roger Making Love and Love-Making - Duration: 4:14.

This is relationships with anybody: your husband, your wife, your boss, your parents, your children,

anybody.

Over in Greece, and it's a tradition, tradition with the Greek people on, in Greece, a lot

of them over here in the United States don't do it 'cause they've left the traditional

area.

But when the older folks are talking about a new couple that's gotten married, and

they're fighting and they're arguing, they say, "Oh listen to them making love."

Now you stop to think about it a little bit it's like, "Every thing that couple does

is making love."

Not having sex, 'cause they…we've got making love and sex.

Sex is a, a biological response of the body.

That's why you can have prostitutes, 'cause that's where they do it.

But making love, and love-making is that no matter what happens in that relationship,

it's all love-making.

Even when you go, "Just shut up and sit down, and don't talk to me!" is love-making.

It's not sweet, romantic, unless you say, "Look how cute they were when they did that."

A, a lady friend of mine in California, when people get upset with her she goes up and

she goes, "Oh, you're so cute when you're like that," and they just go.

It's like they can't make any points in anger, so they have to make the points rational

and-and factual, and then she'll go, she'll go along with it if it's so.

But if they say, "Well my point of view is, and I want you to follow it," she'll

just say, "Oh, you're so cute when you're like that."

When I was very, very young, I was with my brother way up in a canyon, and a guy came

up and he says, "Boy," he says, "your mom's looking at you, she's just gonna

beat the hell out of you when you get home.

She's saying she's gonna skin you alive."

And so my brother was starting to take off, he says, "Wait."

And my brother stopped and he says, "Don't go home now.

She's ready to skin you alive.

In about another hour or two, she'll have forgotten that."

So my brother stayed out and played.

When we got home, she'd forgotten about it.

Watch this obedience thing, that you just obey everything so rapidly that you get yourself

in trouble.

Let the wisdom come in.

Y'know like sit with it a little bit and go.

And that's his favorite story.

If he'd hear he'd, he'd jumped up and said, "Don't you tell that, that's my

story!"

And I'd go sit down to let him tell his story.

But he's not here, so I stole it from him.

And he'll never hear this.

I'll make sure of it; I'll get the tape and keep it.

But you know what I'll do?

I'll keep it and then when I visit with him I'll say, "Hey, by the way, I used

your story in a, in a meeting."

He'll go, "Ah, it's okay."

Then I wonder, why all the worry about the tapes, and him worrying and that?

That's my nonsense.

That's my inner peace that's no longer at peace.

So I figure if he's gonna say it's okay, it's okay then, it's okay now, drop it

and let it go.

What if I'm wrong?

I'm gonna have peace for days, and days, and days, and days, until I have a little

bit of upset with him.

Instead of having upset, upset, upset, upset, upset, and maybe peace.

That's a wrong approach.

I want more peace and less upset.

But he can yell and scream and if I just look at him and go, "Oh, that's such a cute

thing you do," I might just shame him out of ever doing it again.

Knowing my brother, I would.

He'd go, "Don't do that."

Do you ever get people who are like that?

Aren't they fun?

Then you go do it on the other side, and they say, "I thought I told you not to do that."

"You did, I'm not doing that side anymore.

I'm doin' this side."

See how they…you get how the humor comes up inside?

That's preliminary to peace.

Soon as you can start to laugh about all your anger, irritation, upset, and you go, "Ha-ha,

ha-ha-ha-ha, ha-ha-ha!"

Okay, now we're in peace again.

David Hansell to head NYC's embattled child welfare agency - Duration: 2:58.

A Yale-trained lawyer with experience managing social service agencies will take over as commissioner of the city's troubled Administration for Children's Services, officials said Monday.

David Hansell, who has held top positions on the city, state and federal level, is set to run ACS and its $2.9 billion budget.

Since the mayor arrived at City Hall in 2014, ACS was run by Gladys Carrion, an ex-caseworker and former head of the state's Office of Children and Family Services.

Carrion resigned in December after a series of missteps that began in May with the city Department of Investigation finding systemic ineptitude in the handling of abuse cases, including several where children died. She officially left the job on Feb. 3, and the state has ordered the city to hire a monitor, Kroll Associates, to oversee ACS.

De Blasio, speaking Monday night on NY1, said only that he plans to announce the appointment of a commissioner Tuesday. He said ACS has a noble but difficult mission.

"This is an agency that constantly needs to keep growing, keep improving because the work is incredibly difficult. The goal is to save every single child, and that is grueling, difficult work," he said.

Mayor de Blasio plans to announce the appointment of an ACS commissioner on Tuesday.

(Alec Tabak/for New York Daily News)

Just last week de Blasio declined to give an estimated time of arrival for a new ACS commissioner, telling reporters, "I don't do ETAs."

Word of Hansell's appointment leaked hours after the Daily News reported that caseloads for child welfare workers had grown beyond levels deemed acceptable by the city.

Hansell, 61, is seen as more of a manager and less of a social worker. His appointment was immediately praised by observers frustrated with the agency's bungling of several abuse cases in which children died.

"His experience shows that he has real applicable relevant skills in managing a large agency like ACS," said Councilman Steven Levin, chairman of the General Welfare Committee, which oversees the agency.

Anthony Wells, president of Local 371, the union representing caseworkers, said he was "cautiously optimistic" about the pick, noting that Hansell "has vast experience as an activist and professional in social services."

Gladys Carrion quit her job as ACS boss after a series of tragedies.

(New York Daily News)

Hansell graduated from Haverford College with a psychology degree, then Yale Law School. He started his public career in the 1980s as a top lawyer for the Gay Men's Health Crisis.

In 1997, he joined the administration of Mayor Rudy Giuliani as associate commissioner for HIV services, then stayed on with Michael Bloomberg's team as chief of staff to the Human Resources Administration commissioner.

In 2007, Gov. Eliot Spitzer made him commissioner of the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance, where he greatly expanded eligibility for food stamps.

From 2009 through 2011, Hansell served the Obama administration as assistant secretary of health and human services overseeing child welfare programs.

He entered private practice in 2012 as head of the auditing firm KPMG's global Human and Social Services Center of Excellence.

Robert Doar, a former human resources commissioner under Bloomberg now at the American Enterprise Institute, called Hansell "a very capable public servant. That's a very tough job, and I'm glad they found somebody who's up to it. He knows how these agencies work."

The 2nd Annual Yoenis Cespedes Car Show 'doesn't matter' to Mets, and it shouldn't - Duration: 4:20.

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- The idea that this spring was somehow going to be all business for Yoenis Cespedes was quickly shattered by the sound of him revving the engine of a new three-wheeled sports vehicle in the players parking lot Monday afternoon.

After weeks of commuting to work in normal, at least normal-for-him, pickup truck and SUV, the Mets slugger who had a daily car show last spring, apparently opened the 2017 car season.

He hopped into his Polaris Slingshot with white and black and blue trim, backed it out of his parking spot, revved the engines and then drove out of the complex Monday afternoon with photographers trailing him.

His teammates, manager and coaches seem immune to the spectacle by now.

"I don't care what he drives as long as it gets him here," Mets manager Terry Collins said. "The only thing that matters is what he does on the field, starting Saturday at 1:10 p.m.

"It doesn't matter to me at all."

If it doesn't matter to the Mets and if he takes care of business on the field, then why should it matter anyone else?

The Cespedes 2016 spring training car show may have rubbed some people the wrong way, seeing it as a sideshow and distraction. That and Cespedes' habit of playing golf during the season made him a target for criticism in 2016.

So if Cespedes is going to do it again this spring then it's on him. With a bigger contract and bigger expectations, the target on his back will be even larger.

A source said that the slugger and his "car man," Alex Vega, whose AVORZA brand Cespedes made a household name last spring, have teamed up again for some more fun. They are expected to have at least three new customized cars to debut in the Mets players' parking lot this spring. That includes at least one more Slingshot, the source said, and a white BMW SUV, that is relatively normal for Cespedes' tastes.

The Yoenis Cespedes Car Show

To be fair, after debuting several severely tricked out cars last season, Cespedes had a good enough season. He hit 31 home runs, his second straight 30-plus homer season, despite playing with a nagging quad injury all season.

The Mets were confident enough in his focus on baseball to give him a four-year, $110 million deal.

Cespedes has already seemingly accepted that responsibility that comes with the contract.

Over the weekend, he talked about how the "calm," "tranquility," and security that came with the deal allowed him to focus on getting in shape this winter. Collins and hitting coach Kevin Long praised him for coming into camp trimmer and more prepared to start the spring.

But Collins also warned those expecting Cespedes to be strictly business on and off the field this year that the 31-year old was not going to change his personality. He embraced playing New York in part because he is a showman. Cespedes likes the spotlight and the attention that goes with that.

And Cespedes clearly bristled Saturday when he was asked about his 2016 car show being a distraction and the possibility of toning it down.

"I don't think my focus was ever not on baseball," Cespedes answered asked about his flashy entrances and exits from the complex in 2016. "Last year with the cars, that was just something off the field. I think the second I was on that field, my focus was on baseball and it will continue to be."

Yoenis Cespedes.

(Howard Simmons/New York Daily News)

But after work on Monday, Cespedes turned his mind to other business.

The vehicle he drove was a different three-wheeled vehicle from the two Slingshots he drove to the complex last spring. He had a grey-and-red Slingshot with his uniform number, No.52, emblazoned on the hood of the vehicle last year. He also drove a black-and-blue Slingshot with a shamrock on the hood in the spring of 2016.

Monday, Collins wasn't interested in getting a look at the newest ride in Cespedes' parking spot. Frankly, he said he and the Mets don't seem to care -- as long as Cespedes produces on the field..

Collins dismissed the idea that this could become a distraction and made it clear that this is nothing he plans to worry about -- unless it affects him on the field.

"There'd be distractions if he was late. There'd be distractions if he didn't get his job done on the field. ..….We have a basketball hoop in our clubhouse in New York, nothing wrong with having a little fun, relaxing a little bit," Collins said.

"If he comes in here tomorrow on a horse that's fine, as long as after 10 (a.m.

once the workouts begin) he's going to be on the field and get after it."

A horse, frankly, would be a little too 2016. Cespedes can drive all the crazy cars he wants this spring and he can ride a bull into camp this season. As long as he delivers in October, it's not going to be a distraction.

Garden of Words AMV - Flowers - Duration: 4:16.

Until I entered high school two months ago,

I didn't know...

The dampness of my uniform's hem,

soaked by someone else's umbrella...

The smell of naphthalene clinging to someone's suit...

The warm body pushed up against my back...

The chill breeze of the air conditioner against my face...

Shinjuku... Shinjuku Station

When I was little the sky was closer... so much closer

That's why I like the rain,

as with it comes the smell of the sky

And often, on rainy mornings,

instead of transferring to the subway,

I exit out the station gates.

Want some?

But yours aren't...

Cops have released video of two of the suspects, and are asking the public's help identifying them

The robbers, who typically strike in the morning, use their own vehicles to prevent their victims from driving off.

They started their spree on Nov. 28, when they put a gun to the head of a 62-year-old man at the corner of Coney Island Ave. and Slocum Place in Kensington as he got into his van.

They took his keys and cell phone, along with $5,000 in cash and $40,000.

MSIA | John Morton I Love You the Way You Are - Duration: 2:58.

It's not like…what if I could say to you right now, you're okay.

And you knew it was the voice of truth – an eternal truth.

You're okay.

So that you would never, ever consider yourself not okay again.

That's how powerful it is.

John-Roger once told me, I love you just the way you are.

And I was quite sure that somebody somewhere probably more than one had said something

pretty close to that if not that.

But when he said it, I got it.

And he followed it up by saying, "You don't have to change.

I know other people want you to change and they want you to be different, and I know

you do it to yourself."

Said, "You're the one who does that the most.

You make demands and you're not satisfied, and you judge yourself and you're hard on

yourself.

I don't love you that way.

I love you the way you are.

I just see this beauty in who you are.

So you don't ever have to do anything for me.

You don't have to change.

You don't have to be something.

There's nothing lacking.

There's not something that I'm waiting for you to do."

I hope that just transferred from me to you.

And I tell you what it did is I look at you now, and I look at you as people that love

me the way I am – even if you don't act like it.

Even if you tell me off or in some way communicate or express to me in a way that I interpret

as a negative.

I still have a place inside where I, when I settle into it, it is you love me the way

I am and I love you the way you are.

That's my authenticity

De Blasio open to banning plastic bags entirely after Albany blocks five cent fee - Duration: 1:37.

Mayor de Blasio said he's "very open" to banning plastic bags outright after the state legislature and Gov. Cuomo blocked a city law to impose a five cent fee on the bags.

Albany intervened to stop the city for at least a year from requiring stores to charge five cents for plastic and paper bags. City pols say they wanted to encourage shoppers to ditch the environmentally harmful bags for reusable ones.

"That was one way of doing it. A ban is another option, which I'd be very open to," de Blasio said Monday night on NY1. "The one thing I know is the worst possible outcome is what we have right now.

Vast number of plastic bags are just harming the earth.

It's not good for any of us."

Brooklyn Assemblyman Felix Ortiz has introduced legislation to ban plastic bags totally across the state.

Cuomo signed legislation blocking the bag fee last week, saying he objected to letting merchants keep the nickel fee.

Environmental Advocates & Elected Officials rally against Albany's efforts to nullify NYC's Plastic Bag law on the steps of City Hall.

(Norman Y. Lono/for New York Daily News)

"We want to work with them to see if we can resolve this issue," de Blasio said. "We have vast numbers of plastic bags ending up in the garbage, getting sent to a landfill. We're paying as taxpayers to send it to a landfill...There's nothing good about plastic bags."
