Finally back from my Jollidays two
weeks of pure radio wasn't it you know
for the regulars we had a ball there's a
lot more wanted to do and I missed but
yeah whatever never got to 160 I wanted
to create a better envy is
80-meter I wanted a better receive loop
I could have gone all the way around the
garden I'm sure that would work anyway
let's not delve on that we've booked
next year so gonna have another two
weeks then you're a good piece of news
is so remember I said or three or four
videos ago about making time for me and
I said I'll crack that and I remember
actually pointing at the camera I've
cracked it I'm having Friday off Friday
is DX commander day and so I think
that's that's good isn't it so that
means every day every Friday the office
will not contact me I'll be down the
workshop hardly he's a beautiful radio
live-streaming making the Delta loop up
that projects to complete alternatively
I can do all the wrapping and packing
you see that's what I'm gonna do making
all the bits something everything else
is Friday's then Saturday and Sunday a
bit more time for Wendy see that's the
idea we'll see how he goes but that's
the plan and also I'm moving desks in
the office on moving out the sales area
up around the corner they didn't find
without me
they don't need me bring down an X so
I'm I'm still a human so I'll still go
down when I hear the laughs I'll still
ask matter weekends but I'm not gonna be
involved ever once a week meeting Monday
mornings other than that are brown the
corner up the back so as good as it
which means I can redo all my manuals
for DX commander this mistakes
I found mistakes I followed manual to
the letter not built my own aerial and
I'll get to the shack updating the
minute and ten and twelve were out I was
funny
I redid all these
with James they should be cock on and I
went back to the video the long-term
test the ex-commander the James that I
did at his house and the dimensions on
there are on a manual so there's people
make a deer's come on if you are making
a D it's come on the porgy around sort
of the manual out
it's about go to the film long term test
just search D s command a long term test
go to the description you'll see the
lengths but sometime Tuesday Wednesday
Thursday I'll get around to changing the
manual so got back we didn't leave on
Saturn and we left on Friday night at 6
o'clock just after the rush hour now if
you're in London or Birmingham the rush
hour lasts all the way to half seven
eight o'clock but this is in Cornwall
and it was a really easy road up in fact
I did Bude to sully hull if anybody
knows how that felt how far that is
Beauty Solihull in three hours 12
minutes which is that best we've ever
done so now I left the nine ninety in a
Akon two thousand in the car because I
had a plan and yesterday I just dropped
them down the workshop and then this
morning I went down and arranged my desk
and I think you'll agree I've done a
fine job
the akon 2000 is down on my left foot
not perfect but it'll heat the underside
there's a desk up in the winter it's the
plan I was gonna actually put it it
would fit under the shelf
9:19 got the big tuner down there I
haven't moved okay the only all works
and I'll ham radio deluxe no get n1 mmm
that the contest lager working because I
brought a memory stick down with me
thinking I didn't know any internet what
got my phone put you out by the window
if I open the window tarts just to give
a bit of air in and propped it almost
outside the window I've got two or three
bars on 3G didn't get 4G so did a speed
test and I've got about 1.5 Meg
load which is faster than a the
broadband in Bude and be the 4G imbued
us getting about 1.2 1.3 oz get in 1.45
on 3g not let alone 4G if I could just
generally old days used to have a little
aerial socket wouldn't be great just
have a little aerial socket in your
phone and I could just run a little area
up the tree ah tries to be potty
progress years ago I had a a while we
dongle and took it all apart and found
the aerial disconnected it and put a
flying lead to a little SMA connector or
something and connected it to my boat's
antenna and then repopulated inside my
boat was a steel hull repopulated Wi-Fi
for the kids and that was 10 15 years
ago so maybe I need and Steve Nelson's
no I'm gonna paid I need something with
an external aerial with a little box so
I can put a SIM card and get reliable 4G
but then don't have a contract on it or
is it pay-as-you-go blardy blardy blar I
don't know anyway the point is I did a
test with some live stream if I'll cut
it on now look morning chaps and ten
frames a second slightly better encoding
quality that I had imbued and it was
perfect we don't need more than ten
frames a second if we're just on the
radio it's the audio you want to hear
the cards full up hang on a minute
a bottle of butter floating around a
minute ago
well that done with it how do you lose a
button appetizer I have a secret fridge
here and
really for Saturday nights just to wet
my whistle
so everybody's connected together h rd n
1mm USB leads talked about the 3g I just
need something better so that's fine and
then I put then 590 in the car brought
that home and I've plumbed it all in and
it all actually works so I switch it all
on trouble is it all makes a bit of a
racket because if I don't well it does
so I'm currently drawing just with
everything on and not doing anything is
about two and a half amps so that's the
linear the tokyo high power HL 700 be
just how happens it's the same height as
the 590 s very cute actually
I've got an old Kenwood SP 120 speaker
which isn't connecting totally but it's
just happens to be also the same height
as the TS mm I switch him back off again
otherwise what's gonna happen with a
power supply who's gonna kick in so I
had a couple of contacts barefoot would
be that five ninety and a hundred lots
DL somebody on voice and then I had a
couple of contacts well no a single
contact on the PS k 31 I not be doing
whisper this afternoon but I forgot to
transmit the whole afternoon I was
wondering what's going on the mm is
supposed to be for VHF but the aerial
blew up two weeks ago last Friday
Saturday Friday two years ago blew up
with the lightning strike remember and I
bought one of those he's got a 510 a two
and 70's a bit longer again 20 odd feet
for VHF I don't quite know whether to
keep that here or put that one down the
workshop now I think do I need two
meters and 70 centimetres at the
workshop because I've got a perfect
place in the workshop
she's currently got a two and savy mm I
think it is my diamond and I just need
to reroute the coax over a cut I don't
want to do this I might actually pull it
all out I've got some eco flex 15 I've
got none of it around here but it's six
pounds a meter so it's about eight nine
dollars a yard right our 35 meter run of
it going up to where the 2 meter
currently is I want to confirm that
maybe into a 10 meter vertical and it
comes all the way in the workshop all
the way to the next workshop it goes up
over the door frame and and I've got a
tail at the end and I'm gonna cut it in
half and just leave that in and put a
pigtail it I don't know I mean I might
as well just spend an hour pulling it
all out gently and salvaging 35 meter
run of eco flex 15 because I'm gonna ask
the farmer if I could go half the field
behind the the sheep pen for a vertical
or a four phase first war or a summing
switchable vertical are a lot of fun
imbued with that vertical if you
remember and that'll be fun so we're
nearly there
this station works other than the fact
that when I put five watts into the
amplifier I get 50 watts out it's about
a 10 DB gain amp so 40 watts I'm told by
the owner would give me 400 that's fine
right five watts
weird that with the TS 2000 switched off
the 590 on and the high power to give
thing on five watts pulls at 30 amps
right because I'm getting 50 out because
everything's actually running and it's
ready to go so 10 watts would give me a
hundred you know 20 watts would give me
200 but it's somewhere between 30 and 80
amps is where it's doing all the work
so the bass player got isn't man enough
for it you see because I need one of
those I think they call it the brick the
Manson 120 or something but it's about
380 pounds just to drive this now I
could do it without if you remember
going all the way back this was gonna be
my 12-volt station and he needs
everybody's running on 12 volts but I
should really buy a massive great power
supply and then have the ability to
switch in a huge great leisure battery
or something so we can run the station
you know you know to pretend there's an
emergency but what happens if there
really is an emergency it'd be really
cool to have a full-on station with four
hours five hours of laptop I wouldn't
get any internet of course but why do I
need a laptop no well we could do email
over the Internet couldn't we I've done
that before in fact there's a there's a
someone on my back films mokbang catalog
Winley we used wind link and I sent an
email actually over HF for God's sake
don't try HTML you text emails are hard
enough so there we are so I'm quite
excited and we've got the switch here
for the rat pack a six-way switch which
is 12 volts as well
I've got no external metering I don't
know if you've got external mitri I only
use the radios internal SWR meter and if
it's good I'll switch in the amplifier
the amplifier hasn't gotten in bought on
board
SWR meter I don't think it has I don't
even know what it means
what are these buttons do P I PR + vr vc
sorry well vc i think it's volts yeah
tells me how much or power supplies to
me
so there we are do one get a lesser
battery and the big power supply or do I
get a little power supply like I've got
now and a massive leisure battery is
there a way or do I need a special
charger for a ledger battery then he you
can fool it because it needs to be
clever so it puts in the right amount of
current and all that baloney perhaps you
would someone someone have to comment
about how we're gonna do this because I
was gonna do it with a little solar
power sail and everything else but if
you think if I did 400 was right eighty
Apple as an 80 amp battery would last
not a now it's going to ask half that
isn't it half an hour so I can't be into
huge amount of batteries to run the
amplifier for three or four hours so
maybe I just have a pleasure battery
that runs the radios you know because
I'm at but two and seventy that will be
handy for local stuff certainly up to 50
miles mmm all right well I'll take you
down the shack in a week and then we'll
them will move to coax and we'll get
some high-power going out the door at
the back of the mm see you soon
you
