All of us have concern about diabetes and even though there are ways to prevent it by exercise, diet etc.,

Most of us are unaware what to do after getting diabetes and if the sugar level is slightly more people worry that they can't take sweets anymore.

Anybody can get affected by diabetes and there is type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

We can be affecting by diabetes during pregnancy period also and let us see what are the beneficial foods for diabetes.

Even new born babies are affected by diabetes and normally child's weight doesn't reduce.

But children with diabetes problem will have more appetite, excess thirst, frequent urination.

So it is better to take blood test if they have more appetite but lose weight

There is no special diet for them they can take normal food which consists of protein, carbohydrate, cholesterol, fibre, calcium and iron.

We should divide our meals into small portions and take and we should never skip meals as we will eat more in the next meal.

Traditional food like sathu maavu, groundnut, channa, roasted gram, poha rice, nuts and fruits are good for our children.

Fruits can be taken as whole instead of juice and vegetables can be added in dosa or roti but everything should be limited.

We can prevent diabetes due to food habits and hereditary and children should be careful if their parents had diabetes.

Avoid taking sugar, palm jaggery, take less oily foods, using variety of oils instead of using the same type of oil.

Monthly 1/2 litre oil is enough for a person, take more vegetable, less rice, take freuits and greens to be healthy.

Pregnant women with diabetes should take iron and calcium rich food, one type of green, cabbage leaves, mint leaves, corainder leaves & cauliflower leaves.

To increase your immunity and to get vitamin C take an amla everyday, drink milk, go for a walk in sunlight to get natural Vitamin D.

Take less white foods like rice, sugar, maida and some people take more food thinking they have to take food for two.

It is a wrong practice which may cause diabetes, obesity, overweight child, heart disease etc.,

As elderly people cannot eat raw vegetables they can take boiled vegetables.

Otherwise they can grind whole grains, dal, nut etc into flour and make porridge, dosa etc and take.

You should not add bread or biscuit in your diet as it will cause constipation and take fibre rich food to avoid constipation.

Elderly people should take milk and curd to protect their bones and to be healthy.

i apologize, i have a bit of a cold

i've been a bit under the weather the last few days

i'm still no 100%

but, here I am!

it's been a while since my last video in italian

i'm sorry!

i've been recharging the batteries

since i received a lot of comments on my '15 english words to know' video

i thought, 'why not do a video on idioms?'

ones that we use in english

at least in the USA, because I can't speak for the idioms the British use

these are a few of the idioms we often use

in the States

let's begin

*10 english idioms*

today I have 10 idioms

that we use in the English language

number 1

'a walk in the park' literally means to walk in a park

'a piece of cake' literally means a slice of cake to eat

these two idioms translate to "a walk" in the Italian language, meaning something super easy

'how did that test go?'

it means that it was super easy!

the next one

for example, if someone asks you

how much did your iPhone X cost?

you could answer with...

it literally means that it costs an arm and a leg from your body

in Italian the idiom is, "it costs an eye out of your head."

let's keep going!

this is used if someone tells you good luck

if you have a test, or a concert, or a presentation

for anything that needs luck

we say, "break a leg"

which literally means, "i hope you break your leg."

in Italian, the saying is, "In Bocca al Lupo" (in the mouth of the wolf)

it doesn't really make sense in either language

why do you need to break a leg to bring you luck?

and why do you have to go into the wolf's mouth to get luck?

i love idioms because

a lot of the times they make no literal sense!

'what are you doing tonight?'

'tomorrow i have an exam'

'in....history for example'

so tonight...

literally means to hit books

but we use it to say study!

'tonight i'll be literally under books, so i'm going to hit the books'

"hit the books"

i hear this one a lot

and i often say it in english

we say...

what's a 'Rodeo'?

it's a type of fair

usually in the South of the USA

where cowboys ride horses,

livestock shows,

and carnival rides

we say

to say that it's not the first time we are doing something

and in Italian I think the saying is, "Non sono un principiante" (i'm no beginner)

if someone tells you, "oh be careful, this is the way you do this thing..."

but if you've already experienced it before,

you can say, "It's not my first rodeo"

'i'm no beginner!'

we often say this one

it literally means to let a cat out of a bag/sack

this means to not keep a secret or to make something secretive public

for example if you have a secret that you can't tell anyone

but then your best friend asks you what's wrong

you can say, "alright I guess it's time to let the cat out of the bag."

or if someone knows you have already told the secret to someone,

they can say, "sofie let the cat out of the bag"

the secret is out

sofie 'emptied the bag'

they basically mean the same thing

they both have "nail" in them

for example, 'hit the nail on the head' means to literally hammer a nail in your head

and is there any sense to 'you nailed it'?

it literally means that you nailed something to the wall

i don't want you to confuse this saying with the italian saying, 'inchiodare'

because they don't have the same meanings!

'inchiodare' (nailing it in italian) in Italian means to have something go against you

but the English idioms mean that you've done something perfectly

for example, you aced your test

you can say, "you nailed it!"

"you did it perfectly!"

or if someone asked you an extremely difficult question

and you give a correct answer,

they could respond with, "you nailed it!"

this is pretty much the same thing in Italian

in English, we say "miss the boat"

which literally means I didn't make it in time to catch the boat

but in Italian, it's "miss the train"

it means you've missed an opportunity

literally means

that you can't judge a book from the picture on the cover

in italian it would be "don't trust appearances"

so a bit different, but the meaning is the same

you can't judge a book from the images because

sometimes the story is amazing

but the cover sucks

on the other hand, there are times where the cover is very appealing but the story sucks!

you can use this idiom in life

with people, situations...

we use it a bunch

the last idiom

was a bit hard for me to find an italian equivalent

but we say...

literally means physically scratch a person's back

we say this

for favors

if i do this favor for you, you can reciprocate it in the future

hopefully!

it's basically to help someone

assuming that

the other person

will do the same for you

it literally means I will scratch your back if you will then scratch mine

a bit strange, but we often say/hear it!

Rock Climb Better INSTANTLY - Step-by-step Guide for Downclimbing - Duration: 2:27.

Hey Geek Climber, climbing down is more tiring than climbing up for me.

Is this normal?

Yes, it is very common among beginners.

Just imagine when you do a pull-up, the process of lowering yourself down with control is

actually more tiring than the process of pulling yourself up.

With that being said, you should still downclimb all the time to protect your knees, ankles

and back, instead of jumping down.

Downclimbing is also an especially important skill to get yourself out of trouble when

you climb outdoors.

I will teach you the proper techniques that preserve arm strength to down climb step by

step.

Let's assume we start at the top of the boulder standing straight.

The first step is to identify a decent hand hold around the chest level for one of your

hands and grab it with your arms stretched out.

This can be achieved by shifting your body position.

The second step is to let go of the top hold and lower yourself with control by bending

your knees and adjusting your body, so your center of mass is right below your hand.

If your center of mass is not directly below, you will be wasting unnecessary forearm strength.

Don't bend your arms when you lower yourself.

Otherwise you will waste unnecessary upper arm strength.

The third step is to lower your feet with control to lower foot holds.

You can use your vacant hand to push the wall or grab other holds to balance yourself during

the process.

Make sure you are in control so you won't be holding your whole body weight with one

arm at any second.

Now your position should become the same as the starting position for the first step.

Rinse and repeat.

The same principle applies to overhang walls too.

Additionally, during the first step, instead of standing straight, very often you can turn

your body sideways to where the target hold is to make the second step and third step

easier.

Here is another example.

Lastly, the same principle applies to slabs as well.

The main difference is that typically the hand holds on slabs are generally bad.

Therefore when you lower yourself in the second step, you have to be absolutely comfortable

to sit on the foothold.

While you get down to a lower foothold in the third step, if anything is wrong or uncomfortable,

you can go back up easily and think of another way to lower yourself.

Another important thing for downclimbing is hip flexibility.

Sometimes the footholds are far apart, so make sure to stretch regularly to improve

your flexibility.
