Youtube daily report Feb 3 2017

When you think of spacesuits, fashion probably isn't the first thing that comes to mind.

Sure, they've done their job protecting astronauts, but spacesuits have also been

big, bulky, and sometimes bright orange.

Well, if you've been waiting for the next big thing in space fashion, get ready, because

Boeing is about to blow your mind.

Meet Boeing Blue.

Boeing's new suit is designed for astronauts traveling in the Boeing Starliner, a new crew

capsule that will start transporting astronauts to the International Space Station next year.

Instead of the big, awkward fishbowl helmets from previous designs, the suit has hoods

with pressurized zippers, which are lighter and also give astronauts a wider field of view.

The new gloves also work on touch screens, which isn't available in current suits.

It's totally legit.

Boeing Blue is only designed to be worn inside the crew capsule, so it won't protect astronauts

from hazards outside the capsule, like intense radiation.

But it does protect them in case there's a fire or sudden depressurization in the Starliner.

Even though today's launch suits are effective, they're also bulky, puffy, and often plain

uncomfortable.

But Boeing Blue is a step up: It's around 5 kilograms lighter and features more fabric

around the joints for added motion.

It also has fewer zippers, which means it's easier to get in and out of, and the fabric

keeps the suit at a cooler temperature, too.

Also, let's be honest: who wouldn't want to be seen around the launch pad in one of

these things?

I don't want to go to space but I do want to walk around a rocket wearing this suit.

But at the end of the day, Boeing Blue has to do more than just look cool: it has to

keep the astronauts safe.

Before they're certified for launch, the suits will undergo extensive testing to make

sure they can withstand even the toughest emergency scenarios.

But if all goes well, we're going to have some seriously cool-looking astronauts.

Back on the ground, two new studies from the journal Nature are helping us answer questions

about how the Earth formed, how we got our water, and how we got the Moon.

Until now, scientists thought the Earth was made from lots of different kinds of meteorites,

including water-packed meteorites called carbonaceous chondrites.

We used to think these watery rocks showed up right at the end of Earth's formation,

where they delivered most of our water in a big rush.

But this theory wasn't perfect, and it also didn't explain the moon.

Most astronomers think the moon formed when a huge, Mars-sized rock crashed into the Earth.

That makes sense, but it also means the moon should have a different composition than our

planet — it should look like a combination of Earth rocks and rocks from the impactor.

But it doesn't.

Earth and the moon are made of almost exactly the same stuff.

But according to these new studies, the Earth wasn't formed by all those carbonaceous

chondrites and other meteorites.

Instead, it was mostly formed by meteorites called enstatite chondrites.

These rocks get their name because they're high in the mineral enstatite, which is magnesium,

silicon, and three oxygen atoms.

They're also pretty rare -- we only have around 200 samples.

To figure out what was around while Earth formed, the researchers looked at the ratios

of elements and their isotopes in Earth's rocks.

Isotopes are just the different forms of an element that have different numbers of neutrons

in their nuclei.

And different kinds of meteorites have different ratios of these isotopes.

We've known since the 1970s that the ratio of oxygen isotopes in Earth rocks is especially

similar to enstatite chondrite meteorites.

But even though the ratio of oxygen isotopes is the same, if you look at the other elements

in Earth rocks, the proportions don't match up to enstatite chondrites.

So scientists didn't think the similarity in oxygen isotopes was all that important.

But now, thanks to recent developments in our understanding of geology, both studies

were able to more accurately determine the kinds of meteorites that formed the Earth.

And the evidence points to most of them being enstatite meteorites.

The first paper, by a geologist at the University of Chicago, also suggested that the meteorites'

compositions may have changed on Earth's surface as our planet evolved.

That would explain why the elements in enstatite chondrites don't match Earth rocks today.

It's awesome that we figured this out!

But since enstatite meteorites are so rare, it also means we don't have a good sample

of Earth's buildings blocks -- at least, not yet.

And according to the second study, by researchers at the University of Muenster in Germany,

since those water-rich carbonaceous chondrites most likely didn't contribute as much to

our planet as we thought, Earth's water also probably didn't get here in a rush

at the end.

Now that we know there were probably enstatite meteorites instead -- which are dry rocks

-- it's more likely the water appeared gradually.

And if that wasn't enough new information about Earth's history, enstatite chondrites

are also helping us understand the moon's formation!

The University of Chicago study suggests that the impactor that crashed into the Earth wasn't

just made of random materials.

Instead, the impactor and Earth probably all formed from a collection of the same materials

-- many of which were enstatite chondrites.

So when the object crashed into Earth, it was just a big enstatite explosion, and some

of the debris condensed to make the moon.

If that's what happened, then it totally makes sense for the composition of moon rocks

and Earth rocks to be really similar.

Who knew learning about one type of meteorite could teach us so much?

Proving God with Science - Stupid Christian Comments #14 - Duration: 9:01.

Hi everyone, welcome back to TheVeganAtheist.

This week I deconstruct and critique a YouTube comment found on my channel in order to expose

some of the many incorrect assertions made by online theists.

But before I dive in, I wanted to respond to some of the many comments in last week's

video.

Thank you all for you kind words, and yes I am definitely alive.

I also wanted to reassure my fans and subscribers that while I have changed as a person over

the year I was away, I am still very much an atheist, vegan and skeptic.

The changes have been more in mindset and approach rather then a fundamental abandonment

of who I am.

Anyways, lets get to it.

When some one makes a positive claim (and it doesn't matter what the claim is) and that person has a desire

to convince others to their way of thinking, they have an obligation to provide sufficient

evidence that demonstrates the truthfulness of it.

Atheists, generally speaking, don't make the claim that no god exists or is impossible

to exist, since that is a positive claim that needs defending.

We don't try and use science to prove god's non-existence, because proving the non-existence

of anything would be an impossible task.

Instead, skeptic atheists regularly use a method of observation, testing and 3rd party

verification to uncover natural discoveries.

Using this approach to unsolved mysteries, we come up with explanations that are grounded

in realty.

Humans once believed that lightening was a sign of an angry all powerful being, but now

we know better.

When robust scientific theories are formed to explain some element of the universe, we

move further away from the need to appeal to a mystical unsubstantiated abstraction.

Freedomfighter777's assertion that science supports a god's existence is ungrounded.

Science deals with coming up with the best explanation that fits the evidence.

The evidence for a god existing is poor at best, and should be dropped until such a time

when good evidence is forthcoming.

Now, lets get into the claims regarding the sun's position in relation to the earth.

It took me all of 20 seconds to do a google search to come up with the following information.

The distance between the earth and the sun fluctuates as we travel around it.

At our closest position, the sun is 91.4 million miles (147.1 million km) away, while at its

furthest it is 94.5 million miles (152.1 million km).

This variation of approximately 3.1 million miles (5 million km) is far greater then the

millionth of a decimal that was claimed by Freedomfighter777.

There really is no excuse for this level of ignorance in a day and age where information

is so readily available.

In regards to the big bang and the chaos that ensued, scientists today believe the start

of our universe happened 13.8 billion years ago.

That is a heck of a lot of time for the universe to settle down a bit and form some semblance

of order.

Like so many theists before him, Freedomfighter777 continues the tradition of inventing crackpot

notions of how the universe operates in order to straw man the rational scientific explanations

and make god come out as a winner.

If i could pose some questions to Freedomfighter777, and those who believe as he does...

a) Please provide evidence for the assertion that a big bang type event should be popping

up every moment.

How have you come to that conclusion?

b) What day was it that astronomers announced they were stopping their work?

And c) What good evidence is there that leads

you to the conclusion that humans have been engineered?

Lastly, in this final section of my critique, I will address the final sporadic ramblings

in rapid succession.

1)The universe was formed by a seemingly natural process known as the big bang.

Their is no evidence of intelligence behind the process or within it.

2) Nobody of worth is saying the universe and the life found within it is an accident.

The cosmos operates under certain constraints.

With an inconceivably large amount of time and matter, natural process emerge.

3) The Angry Birds video game is the result of intelligent minds because all past examples

of video games were made by intelligent minds.

We know something was created by contrasting it to what naturally occurs.

What would you contrast to nature in order to determine that IT was created?

Remember complexity is not a sign of intelligence.

4) We definitely do not agree that everything points back to a god, since atheists represent

a fairly large (and growing) portion of the human population, we do not accept the poor

evidence and arguments for a god's existence and finally

5) The big bang theory is currently the best explanation we have.

It is the end result of multiple lines of verifiable evidence and can stand up to honest

scrutiny.

A god has not been demonstrated in any way, and any attempt to do so has been met with

failure.

10 Improvised Movie Scenes That Made Actors React Out Of Nowhere - Duration: 8:35.

Behind the scenes of every movie you love, years of planning have gone in to making sure

that every line, prop and camera angle are exactly what the filmmakers want.

The crazy thing about movie making, though, is that sometimes, even with all that planning,

the filmmakers and actors decide to toss out the script and improvise instead.

Sometimes this can be disastrous, but sometimes these unplanned moments turn out to be seriously

awesome.

For this video, we are taking a look at some of the best for our list of 10 Improvised

Movie Scenes That Made Actors React Out Of Nowhere.

Enjoy this video and be sure to hit the subscribe button for more awesome Screen Rant content,

every day of the week.

The Wolf Of Wall Street Matthew McConaughey had himself a pretty good

2013.

Not only did he take home the Best Actor Oscar for Dallas Buyers Club, he also delivered

a quick but quality performance in The Wolf Of Wall Street.

Fans loved the scene where McConaughey was banging his chest, and as it turns out, this

is something that the actor made up on the spot.

The ritual was actually something McConaughey would do before shooting, and he decided that

he would bring it into the scene.

DiCpario is a world-class actor, but you can totally see him cracking up, and even looking

over to the camera crew as McConaughey's chest beating and humming escalates.

Zoolander While 2016's Zoolander sequel was an absolute

travesty, the original film is actually quite hilarious and is jam packed with fun unscripted

moments.

In one scene involving David Duchovny and leading man, Ben Stiller, Duchovny's character

is explaining how the fashion industry has been behind every high profile political assassination

of the last hundred years.

Stiller's Zoolander asks, "Why male models?" which prompts Duchovny to give a long and

clear explanation.

Stiller then stares right at him and again asks "Why male models?"

As it turns out, this moment happened because Stiller actually forgot his line and just

opted to repeat his previous one.

This prompted Duchovny to ad-lib his response "Are you kidding?

I just told you like a minute ago."

The scene was totally unplanned but thanks to Duchovny's great reaction, it ends up

fitting in perfectly!

The Dark Knight The Dark Knight is still regarded as one of

the best superhero movies of all time and Heath Ledger's Joker performance has become

even more iconic as the years go on.

It is well known that Ledger threw himself deep into the role and this led to some pretty

amazing unscripted moments.

A lot of people know about the improvisation in the scene where the Joker blows up the

hospital, but there is also a great-unscripted moment from when the clown prince is locked

up behind bars.

As the officers in the room applaud Commissioner Gordon's promotion, Ledger begins, totally

off script, to slowly clap – never changing his facial expression and staring through

the prison bars with a truly terrifying look.

It was just a simple improvisation but it totally changed the vibe of the scene and

has become an iconic moment from the film.

The Silence of The Lambs Even though he had less than 25 minutes of

screen time in the movie, Anthony Hopkins performance as Hannibal Lecter is still one

of the most bone chilling portrayals of all time.

Even with such little screen time, Hopkins found ways to improvise some truly creepy

moments.

In one scene, Dr. Hannibal Lecter is in the middle of telling a story to FBI agent Foster's

Clarice about his cannibalistic ventures.

At the end of this story, Hopkins decided to add-lib a truly haunting hiss sound that

is now an iconic part of his character.

Apparently, this was something that Hopkins would do often between scenes to try to spook

Foster, so when he brought the hiss in to the scene, the terror on Foster's face is

totally genuine.

Fast & Furious 6 The Fast & Furious movies have brought us

some of the best over the top action scenes in recent memory.

But, hidden between scenes of cars doing back flips are some pretty well acted moments featuring

a talented cast.

Fans were excited when The Rock joined the franchise, but who would have known that he

would deliver the best-improvised moment from the entire series.

In the sixth film, The Rock is walking up to join the group and Tyrese Gibson's character

starts to chirp him.

Instead of sticking to the script, The Rock decided to chirp back by saying "You better

hide that big ass forehead!"

The best part about this improvised line is Ludacris' genuine reaction as he spits his

drink out all over the place.

The Godfather The Godfather is one of the most loved films

of all time and Marlon Brando's performance as Vito Corleone is truly iconic.

Brando does an amazing job of crafting a multi dimensional character that is so much more

than just a ruthless mob boss.

One of the most memorable scenes comes when Brando is delivering some brutal orders - all

while gently, albeit maniacally, stroking a cat.

The crazy thing about this is, the cat was never part of the original script.

The origin story of the cat is spotty, some reports say that the director plopped the

feline into Brando's lap just before filming began and other reports say Brando found the

famous feline roaming around the set and decided to use him.

Whatever the case may be, an unplanned cat definitely adds an interesting dynamic to

any film shoot.

The Empire Strikes Back The Star Wars films are known for a lot of

things, but they definitely aren't what comes to mind first when you think of great

improvised lines.

That being said, Harrison Ford brought his special blend of charming and cocky to the

iconic role of Han Solo and he's been a fan favorite ever since.

As it turns out, one of Ford's most famous lines was actually improvised by the actor

on the spot.

In a scene where the script required him to show some compassion, Solo was supposed to

respond, "I love you too" to Princess Leia.

Ford didn't like how the line felt, so George Lucas told him to just say whatever he felt

fit best and the actor decided to go with "I Know", which is a probably the most

Han Solo answer to "I Love You" that we could imagine.

Trainwreck Trainwreck was one of the most hilarious movies

of 2015 and featured some great performances by Amy Schumer, Bill Hader and even John Cena.

One actor that was surprisingly funny in the film was NBA superstar, Lebron James.

A lot of the movie was improvised and it turns out that Hader and Schumer were trying to

trip Lebron up and making him laugh with their improvised responses.

In one scene, Lebron is trying to convince the couple to take a trip to Cleveland and

when Hader and Schumer start rapid firing improvised zingers at him, he has a hard time

handling them.

Lebron hangs on longer than we would have expected but ultimately breaks down laughing

when Schumer gets him to profess his genuine love for Cleveland.

It's a scene that can only be seen in the extra features, but it's totally worth it!

The Departed Martin Scorsese's film, The Departed, is

a must see for anyone who considers themselves a fan of movies.

The story of Boston crime family was stuffed with incredible actors like Matt Damon, Jack

Nicholson, Leonardo DiCaprio and many more.

Scorsese did a great job directing this film, but there were some moments that even he couldn't

take credit for.

In an intense scene opposite Leo about uncovering a rat in the group, Nicholson decided to take

things into his own hands.

Even though it wasn't in the script, Nicholson pulls a gun out from under the table and this

move totally changed the tone of the scene.

DiCaprio is visibly rattled by the Nicholson power move and it only adds to the authenticity

of the moment.

Kudos to Leo for just rolling with Nicholson's decision and delivering such a great scene.

Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Pt. 2 The Harry Potter movies have some of the most

devoted fans in the world and they will go to extreme lengths to defend every aspect

of the wizarding world.

That being said, there is one scene that makes even the biggest Potterhead cringe and that

is the moment when Voldermort and Malfoy share an incredibly awkward hug.

According to Tom Felton, this uncomfortable moment was totally improvised and caught the

cast totally off guard.

While they were filming the scene, Ralph Fiennes, who plays Voldermort in the series, decided

to hug Felton and the actor's reaction of stopping dead in his tracks and looking very

confused is totally genuine.

So there you have it, there is our list of 10 improvised movie scenes that forced actors

to react on the spot.

Which one of these great moments was your favorite?

What other great unscripted reactions do you know about?

Trump Wants To Remove White Supremacists From Terror Watch List - Duration: 2:59.

Donald Trump is trying to remake the FBI's terror watch program and refocus it to specifically

and solely focus on people who are Muslims, anyone who is of the Islamic faith.

Right now this program in the United States by the FBI is used to monitor white supremacist

activity.

They monitor the KKK, they monitor the neo-Nazis.

They keep track of them, they keep tabs on them.

They prevent any kind of attacks coming from those groups who are known to be filled with

hate, filled with rage and usually packed with guns.

According to Trump's new order, what he wants to do to this program will officially remove

white supremacists and neo-Nazis from this terrorist watch list.

Make no mistake, these people, the KKK, neo-Nazis, the alt-right, whatever you want to call them,

they are terrorists.

Anyone who believes that they are above everyone else simple because of the color of the skin

they had when the popped out of the womb is a threat.

Anyone who believes that you are a lesser person because of your sexual orientation,

the color of your skin, the God that you worship, anyone who thinks that is a threat.

We have seen attacks carried out by white supremacists over the years.

In fact, we've had more of those in the United States than we have any kind of Islamic terrorist

attack.

This administration is so filled with hate towards Islam that they want to refocus all

of the FBI's efforts.

America currently is not under attack by Islamic terrorism.

We're under attack from right-wing fundamentalists.

We're under attack from racists and bigots.

We have seen them carry out atrocities, and yet Fox News, the Republican Party refuse

to call these people terrorists.

Remember how made they'd get when they said, "President Obama won't use the term Islamic

terrorism," even though he used it all the frigging time?

They won't call out their own, they won't denounce their own.

They won't mention that a guy who goes out and shoots six people was in love with Donald

Trump.

They don't tell you about that.

Everybody else does.

It's easily verifiable, it's all over credible news sources.

Don't tell that to Fox News and sure as hell don't tell that to the Republican Party because

as it turns out, those dangerous people, those KKK, those white supremacist skinhead Nazis,

that's actually the Republican base.

Deconstructing Mario: How New Super Mario Bros. U handles Difficulty. - Duration: 15:45.

Hello you lovely mario person, my name is Ceave and welcome back.

Super Mario Bros. U is a game which is often overlooked.

Not only was it the fourth entry in the Super Mario Bros. series in six years, it also launched

only three months after New Super Mario Bros. 2 on the 3DS and it launched on the Wii U

which had really bad sales.

And that's a real pity, because Super Mario Bros. U is an excellent game, filled with

creativity and awesome design.

Today we are going to deconstruct the way the game handles difficulty.

How is this platformer able to have such a smooth transition in difficulty, where every

stage always feels like a challenge but beatable.

What is the magic trick behind the fact that our game is able to provide a good challenge

to inexperienced players as well as to platforming veterans?

And is there something to learn for designing mario maker courses?

Well, you're ready?

Let's find out.

In order to deconstruct the way super mario bros.

U handles difficulty we are going to analyze two courses.

One from the first half of the game and one of the second half of the game.

The harder stage is Bouncy Cloud Boomerangs and in world seven.

This level is built around bouncy platforms and dodging terrifying boomerangs shot by

boomerang-bros.

The easier stage is Spinning Star Sky and is in the third world.

The main gimmick of this level are these star-shaped platforms which rotate fast when mario stands

on top of them.

So the level starts by giving our plumber a safe-playground to play around with the

new star-platforms.

Falling off of this platform has no consequences.

There is a mushroom hidden in the question-block at the top and the worst thing that can happen

to mario here is to platform so sloppy that the mushroom falls into this little hole and

is gone.

This represents one of the four main ways mario game designers are able to punish a

player if he fails a challenge.

They can either directly kill him, or force him to take a hit and to retry the challenge.

They can force him to retry the challenge without any consequences, or they can allow

him to skip the challenge as a whole but he does not get a reward.

Here the mushroom represents the reward and failing the challenge has no other consequences

for mario but to potentially lose the mushroom.

This is the first stage in the game where the rotating star-platforms appear.

The game gives mario here a small area where he can safely study the physics of these platforms

before confronting him with real challenges.

The next area does something similar.

Here the coins guide mario to go on top of the star, and the goombas on the bottom make

the way on top easier than the one below the star.

So mario gets another chance to play with this new obstacle without major consequences.

If he fails here he might hit a goomba but it's rather unlikely as he probably falls

on top of them.

Then things get really dangerous for the first time.

Now mario has not only to make his way on top of one of these stars, but two and there

is a bottomless pit, making every mistake deadly.

Good players get the additional option to jump on top of this koopa in order to reach

a valuable starcoin.

After this first challenge the stage becomes easier again.

Here mario only needs to jump over one star, and there are some secrets hidden here which

add optional challenges for better players, but we'll talk about this in a moment.

Next we have four of these stars for mario to survive.

But this time he has small muncher platforms below him which allow him to change otherwise

lethal mistakes into simple damage.

This challenge is definitely the toughest so far, and the reward is this checkpoint.

And now something interesting happens.

Instead of constantly increasing the difficulty of the challenges they become easier here

once again.

Only three stars and no bottomless pit.

Getting over this part is easier than the part before the checkpoint, but collecting

the mushroom here is a tough additional challenge which can be easily failed.

It's really clever to make the level easier again directly after the checkpoint as the

part after the checkpoint is the part which players will most likely play the most.

The toughest challenges in a mario level are logically towards the end of the stage, and

these are obviously the challenges players will fail the most.

So putting an easy but not meaningless challenge here makes sense.

And having a bonus mushroom which is a little bit harder to reach makes sense as well.

Reaching this mushroom makes beating the stage a lot easier, and in consequence the more

often you have to replay this part the more likely you are to find a way to get the mushroom.

This means that every time you fail at a later challenge you become more likely to catch

this mushroom which makes the challenge you failed before easier.

A lot of stages in super mario bros U do something like this and it's really clever because

it keeps the level of frustration low.

The next part becomes harder but is once again easier than the part before the first checkpoint

and introduces a new variation of the challenge by introducing noteblocks.

Then it becomes even easier, just two stars, and no bottomless pit before we have the main

challenge of the stage.

Everything up to this point is basically a preparation for the player to master this

challenge.

Five stars at once!

The star physics are actually really hard to control and it's definitely no easy task

to make your way over all the rotating platforms.

Especially if you consider that we are still in the first third of the game.

Mario is rewarded with a fun little slide into these enemies and faces a last little

challenge before he finally reaches his flagpole.

Okay so there were ten star-platforming sections to overcome in this stage.

If we give each one of it a specific difficulty rating with 0 being the lowest and ten being

the highest and put them into a difficulty graph we get this interesting result:

There are a couple of things which we can visualize this way.

The first thing that this shows is that the difficulty in this mario stage isn't linear

or exponentially growing but jumps wildly around.

For example: the third easiest challenge is back to back with the second hardest challenge

of the stage.

The next thing we can see here is that there is usually a more relaxing area before the

tough challenges.

The difficulty increases steadily in this stage, and relaxing areas at the end are about

the same difficulty as early main challenges.

Another thing we can draw into this graph is the position of the power ups.

These two mushrooms are additional challenges in challenges, and these two mushrooms are

placed at completely safe spots directly after two tougher challenges.

The power ups are really easy to find in this stage and don't require a lot of exploration.

Alright here is where things become interesting.

That was a stage taken out of the first third of the game, now let's head to another level

from the last third of a game and let's find out how it differs from this one.

This stage immediately starts more dangerously.

Mario has to make his way up this staircase while koopas make their way down and then

we are once again introduced to the main gimmick of the stage.

Here it's bouncing clouds which slightly move.

The setting here mirrors the exact same setting from the stage before.

There isn't really any danger here for mario, except for not getting this mushroom which

might help him in the later parts of the stage.

Next we have our first real challenge, jumping over three platforms while goombas bounce

towards our brave plumber.

We then encounter our first boomerang-bros in the game.

There are two safe spots where mario can't get hit by these horrific boomerangs.

I actually had troubles finding out if killing this boomerang-bros is tougher than dodging

the goombas on the platform before as I have tons of hours in this game and both things

felt pretty easy to me.

So I gave this level to my wonderful girlfriend, who has definitely spent more time watching

me playing mario games than playing mario herself.

And I realised that dodging the boomerangs is definitely the harder challenge than jumping

on top of the goombas.

Like definetly definetly.

(A lot of lives were lost that day.)

Then the stage becomes a little bit easier once again and we have a small area with some

jumping koopas and an optional secret followed by a tougher part: jumping over four clouds

while goombas come towards you from two directions and then we hit the checkpoint once again.

Here this stage mirrors the stage from before again.

It becomes easier, but there is an optional challenge to collect a power-up and a starcoin.

The next challenge is easier again than the one before the checkpoint.

Two koopas, two clouds and a safe area, which allows to almost entirely skip the challenge.

Aaaand then the stage becomes really hard.

First mario has to make his way through this chaotic part where piranha-plants try to eat

him, then he immediately faces another boomerang-bros, but this time he has to get past him by using

a bouncing cloud instead of pipes and there are no safe spots.

Directly after this boomerang-bros waits another one, and if our plumber hasn't killed the

one before he now faces deadly boomerangs from two directions, with no safe-spots and

a cloud which bounces up and down.

That was the main challenge towards the whole stage built up, and once again there is an

easier echo of the stage directly at the end.

Okay so if put the challenges of this stage into a graphic once again we get this result.

Just as quick little side note these graphics are meant to roughly represent the difficulty

of the single challenges in the stages and not super accurate.

Some players might find some parts of a stage harder than others and so on, but they help

to roughly visualize how the difficulty in a stage evolves.

This stage jumps even more in difficulty than the one before, the hardest part is again

at the end and the challenge before the final one is super easy.

There isn't much more going on here currently but we will come back to this graphic in a

moment and add some interesting stuff to it, but first let's talk about why the second

stage we discussed is actually the harder one?

At first glance this is actually pretty hard to say.

The star-platforms are definitely the gimmick that is harder to navigate than the bouncing

clouds.

Both levels have the same amount of power-ups.

Two before the checkpoint and two after the checkpoint.

There are actually more places where a mistake means falling into a bottomless pit in the

star-stage than in the cloud stage.

Even the difference in the amount of enemies in the stages is not too huge, with 10 koopas

in the star stage and 6 in the cloud one, 15 goombas in the star one and 11 in the cloud

one.

But only one piranha vs. 13 in the star to the cloud stage and of course the four hammer

bros.

But stage 7-3 is definitely the tougher one than 3-1, so why is that so?

It's mainly because of the context in which mario encounters these enemies.

Enemies which are above mario for example are way harder for him to beat and to escape.

As his main way of beating an enemy is to jump on it's head, and the main way to dodge

one is to jump over it.

Which is both way harder if the enemy is above you.

The enemy placement is basically what 7-3 is all about, it defines the difficulty.

The stage starts with two koopas which are hard to escape.

After the checkpoint these goombas are above mario and fall down, these goombas come from

above and jump in a way that makes it hard to predict where they land, even the way in

which the challenge of dodging the boomerang bros evolves mirrors this.

Meanwhile almost all enemies in 3-1 are in places easily avoided for mario.

3-1 is all about surviving the difficult jumps on these star platforms.

But 7-3 is about avoiding enemies in difficult environments.

The bouncing clouds only support this idea there, but they aren't meant as the main

challenge.

If there was a stage for example where mario had to jump on top of these star-platforms

while boomerang-bros shoot boomerangs at him this stage would probably be ridiculously

hard.

But there is another thing that makes the earlier stage easier.

The power ups.

In the first level there aren't too many enemies as discussed before that are actually

a threat to mario so it's not too hard to get and keep the acorn suit.

As a all challenges here are built around tricky platforming in dangerous heights the

acorn suit helps immensely to beat this stage.

Even the Luigi guide, which pops-up if you died five times in a stage shows you how to

basically skip the entire challenge.

Meanwhile the ice-flower in the cloud stage is helpful as well, but not as helpful and

it's really easy to lose it.

Okay, so let's talk about another aspect of difficulty in new super mario bros U.

One of the toughest problems when designing a game is how to create a game that gives

skilled players the challenges they are looking for, and less skilled players still a satisfying

and beatable experience.

And super mario bros U is really good at addressing this problem because super mario bros U often

allows you to choose your own difficulty instead of giving you a set one..

In this stage for example there are two really tough challenges which grant you a star-coin

if mastered, but trivialize the hole challenge if ignored.

Every player is free to choose whether he wants to go for this challenge, or completely

ignore it.

Let's quickly head back to our two stages because there are a lot of hard challenges

hidden, which are completely optional but allow better players to find an additional

challenge.

Here we have a small bonus room only reachable by performing a tricky walljump, here we have

a really tough jump which leads us to an alternative and much harder challenge which is rewarded

with a star-coin.

Here we have a optional hidden 1-UP puzzle, here we have a green ring challenge.

Mario basically has to collect these green coins five times in a row before the timer

ends.

And that is really challenging and here is a completely optional area where mario is

able to collect coins.

It's the same with 7-3 and basically every mario stage every made.

In the beginning there is the option to jump off from one of the koopas to get an additional

power up.

Here is a walljump challenge while boomerangs are thrown.

Here it's possible to first drop down into a optional challenge which leads to a reward

room later.

Here is a red-coin challenge which is hard to get, where mario has to collect all 8 red-coins

before the timer ends.

Here is a hard to reach hidden pipe which does nothing but is really fun, and then there

is the last star coin which is completely optional as well.

If we add these optional challenges into our difficulty graphs they suddenly look like

this, and every player is able to choose his own difficulty in between these areas.

But there's even more because super mario games in general and U in particular value

exploration and discovering secrets higher than their own challenges.

Right before the hardest part of 7-3 there is a star hidden, and finding this star completely

trivializes the final challenge of the stage.

It's possible to beat this level even if you are not good enough in super mario to

master it's last challenge, all you need to do is to explore the stage.

The same is true for 3-1.

Here mario only needs to enter this wall in order to find a star, and to skip the hardest

challenge of the stage once again.

If we add these challenge-skips to our chart there is suddenly a huge gap in between the

easiest and the hardest playthrough of the stage but both paths feel rewarding for the

player.

Because if the player went through the hardest path, they managed to beat a lot of tough

but satisfying challenges.

But if a player took the easiest path, he found clever hidden secrets which rewarded

him with shortcuts or useful items, and gave him the satisfaction of discovering a secret.

And that's not only really clever game design, but probably one of the main secrets why super

mario games appeal to such a wide audience.

Thanks for watching, I hope you enjoyed this little video, if you enjoyed it don't forget

to leave me a thumbs up and maybe you feel like hitting the difficult to hit subscribe

New Study Reveals Convincing Evidence We Live in a 'Holographic Universe' - Duration: 4:28.

New Study Reveals Convincing Evidence We Live in a Holographic Universe.

By Jake Anderson.

(ANTIMEDIA) With all thats going on in the news and the toxicity we find on social

media these days, its hard to pull back and think about life in the context of the

great cosmic magic show unfolding around and within us.

At first blush, one might hear the phrase holographic universe and dismiss it

as sensationalism or fake news. But, incredibly, a new study released Monday concludes

that the holographic universe theory is just as likely to be true as our traditional models

of space/time.

The holographic universe theory, which originated in the 1990s, suggests that all the information

in our universe including space/time itself is encoded on a 2D surface.

Imagine that everything you see, feel and hear in three dimensions (and your perception

of time) in fact emanates from a flat two-dimensional field, said Professor Kostas Skenderis

of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Southampton in an interview with PhysOrg.

The idea is similar to that of ordinary holograms where a three-dimensional image

is encoded in a two-dimensional surface, such as in the hologram on a credit card.

However, this time, the entire universe is encoded.

The new study, conducted by British, Canadian and Italian researchers, used theoretical

physics and astrophysics to analyze irregularities in the cosmic microwave background (commonly

thought of as the residual glow of the Big Bang).

What their analysis suggests is that one: there are irregularities in current cosmic

inflation models and two: the holographic universe theory checks out mathematically

when applied to the evolution of the universe.

In conclusion, the researchers say that there is presently as much evidence to support a

holographic universe as there is for the standard cosmological model of the universe.

holographic universe

The holographic universe theory derived from attempts by scientists to describe quantum

phenomena using a simplified version of the string theory the theoretical framework

in which particles are defined by string-like filaments.

The original purpose of this research was to take on the Herculean task of reconciling

Einsteins theory of relativity with quantum mechanics a profound mystery that has

dogged scientists for decades.

Basically, these two major scientific theories govern our understanding of the universe:

general relativity for the big stuff, like galaxies and planets; and quantum mechanics

for the small stuff.

The problem is that the two are mutually exclusive in their current incarnations, both theories

cannot be right.

This means there is a massive, gaping hole in our understanding of the universe.

For years, scientists have feverishly attempted to assemble a Grand Unified Theory ideally

one that also explains dark matter and dark energy but despite this work, a cohesive

understanding of the universe continues to elude us.

The holographic universe model is attractive to physicists because it may reconcile general

relativity and quantum mechanics.

It is far from proven, but the new study suggests the theory is mathematically consistent.

While it will probably take decades if not centuries for scientists to conclusively

prove the ultimate nature of our universe, the new study suggests our reality may be

a lot stranger than we ever imagined.

GN: How fake news is made (plus why and who) - Duration: 4:47.

CC How propagan-do???

Making headlines is hard, but making fake news is as easy as [russian letters]

Fake news comes from Macedonia, Russia, these United States, and really everywhere

First you just have to pick a name Make it something slightly off-brand like

ABCnews.com.co, Bloomberg.ma, CNN-trending.com. the non-existent Boston Tribune or Empire

News Copy their logos and graphics so you look

just like the real thing, and steal their news stories too while you're at it

fill it with random content, so it looks like a news site what that actually is.

Do this by posting dozens or hundreds of wholly plagiarized stories from real news sites,

even the ones you're trying to copy

Isn't this illegal?

Of course!

It's totally illegal, but it's a civil infraction, not a crime, so you'd have to sue them in

their home country, and that's basically impossible And if the copyright guys catch you, switch

to another of your hundred sites or use a bot to rejuggle and repost them as

what Americans basically call gibberish

Swoop in for the kill Whip up a crazy story how someone is a lizard

or prefers the company of goats.

Say the person is a rapist, a murderer or mass criminal of any variety, and that charges

are coming down any day.

You'll need to cite a couple high-level sources who wish to remain anonymous.

And also cite some people willing to go on record with their names with juicy, salacious

details, even though those people don't actually exist.

Get social media out there.

Use the hundreds of social media accounts you made or bought on Facebook, Twitter and

Reddit, to forage for dippy smarts.

In the industry, this is know as trade-farming.

Clusterblast your lie far and wide with a headline so preposterous that rubes can't

help but like, share and Tweet the unholy heck out of it

Round one is complete While co-worker-1 is across the room adding

more filler, co-worker-2 goes onto social media personally

insulting and intimidating anyone who doesn't buy your bulishness

If they have to dox them, learning their real names, addresses and places of employment

just to intimidate them, that's fine too.

While you're free to start dreaming up the next impossible headline spun entirely from

whole touched cloth.

Does it work?

The companies that have done this don't prefer one candidate over any other, they just found

that supporters of certain candidates are far more

likely to propagate ridiculous lies as the gospel truth.

Google and Facebook have agreed to crack down on these sites, but only in ways that don't

effect clicks or revenue, so in effect, they're gilded steeds from now

until the money dries up If you don't think critically, and don't check

your sources before sharing an outrageous "news" story, you might be

a useless parrier trader unfit to drive, let alone vote.

Quashing dissent Here's where you have to hire one more full-timer

to sow the unreaped stalks of pre-harvest anti-truth.

You need hundreds of folk, or at least their identities, to go out all over the web calling

EVERYTHING "fake news" Don't like a headline?

Call that fake news!

Don't like a comment on social media?

Call that fake news too!

NBC retracts a story from an hour ago?

FAKE NEWS!

The more they pretend real news is fake, the more it takes the sting out of their jellyfish

bulldog milkshake.

And that's why they call it propagan-does, instead of propagan-don't!

Check out some of our past "how REALLY do" videos

you know, all kinds of great stuff but really, the big thing is

we've got a movie coming up a documentary all about me, Bobby-Joe,

the guy who brings you all this wisdom and we need your help

we need some questions so click on the link in the description

or here on the screen depending where you're seeing it

and thank you kindly and so darn much!

OUINO™ Language Tips: How to Discover New Subtle Words with Movies and Television - Duration: 3:35.

How to Discover New Subtle Words with Movies and Television

As you get better in your new language, you will start to know a lot of words.

You may even reach a point where you understand most of the material, but still don't know

hundreds of words in the content you are watching.

That's because your brain has now become quite skilled at making connections and understanding

the general message without understanding every single word.

It can sometimes feel like you've reached a plateau.

Unfortunately, words used only occasionally can be very difficult to learn through repetition.

Luckily, there's a very effective way to learn those subtle words using movies and television.

In previous posts, we talked about using movie subtitles to your advantage when learning

a new language.

But what about writing the subtitles yourself?

(Wait... what?).

This does require a considerable amount of effort on your part, but the benefits are

well worth it.

We are all about fun language-learning activities, but sometimes doing a bit of extra work is

so effective that it's worth giving a try, even if it's not as fun as popping plastic

bubble wrap (apparently not very effective).

Here's what you can do: choose a 60 to 90-second segment you like.

Listen to that segment and do your best to write down the dialogue you hear.

This can be done with short scenes, song lyrics and short sections of audio books.

Pause and rewind the short segment as much as you need to.

This is challenging and a high level of focus is required.

Once you are done writing the dialogue to the best of your abilities, compare what you

wrote to the real book, lyrics or subtitles.

In a previous post, we also talked about the 4 levels of movies for language learning.

Use these levels for this activity as well.

It will be much easier to create subtitles for "Sesame Street" than for something full

of complicated expressions.

It is also important to have a set up where it will be easy for you to pause and rewind

very often.

Doing this activity on a desk or table with a computer works very well.

Meet Julia Jenga.

Julia is trying to learn Spanish.

She's having a hard time because she heard the phrase "pero me equivoqué" , but she

has no idea what it means or how to write it.

She doesn't even know how many words are contained within the phrase.

But instead of ignoring it, she first wrote "pero me qui boque", then "pero me equibo

que" and eventually found the phrase in Google.

That's when she discovered the phrase was actually 3 words instead of 4 and that it

means "but I was wrong" . This made sense within the scene she was watching.

After doing this exercise, the word "equivoqué" jumps out every time she hears it in other

situations and she never forgot it.

Now you may think that this is a difficult way to learn new words, but every word learned

this way is sure to stay with you because you are actively connected to them.

Occasional words can be very difficult to learn from repetition because they are only

mentioned a few times in the whole movie.

But writing down the entire dialogue of short segments can be a very effective way to learn

these subtle words.

If you are looking to make significant improvements to your listening skills quickly, or if you

ever feel like you are reaching a plateau, do this exercise on a regular basis.

It is very effective.

If you liked our video, be sure to give us a thumbs up!

Thanks a lot!

Boeing's Sweet New Spacesuits - Duration: 5:15.

Moana - You're Welcome! - Parodies by Mommy - Duration: 2:46.

[children crying]

Ok, ok

I see what's happening, yeah

You're face to face with greatness, and it's strange

You don't even know how you feel

It's adorable!

It's nice to see that children never change

Open your eyes, let's begin

Yes, it's really me, it's Mommy! Breathe it in!

I know it's a lot, the hair, the bod!

When you're staring at a mommy squad!

What can I say except you're welcome

for the food, the diapers, the milk

Hey, it's okay, it's okay, you're welcome!

I suffer ordinary mommy guilt

Hey, what has two hands who cleaned up your pants

when you were making stink bombs?

This mom!

When the nights got cold,

who rolled you in blankies head to toe?

You're lookin' at her, yo!

Oh, and also I wiggled your bum,

you're welcome,

to make you laugh and have some fun.

And also, I caught a disease,

you're welcome,

To save you from a stranger's sneeze

So what can I say except you're welcome

For the hours I skipped from my sleep

There's no need to pray, it's okay, you're welcome!

I guess that's just my way of being me!

You're welcome!

You're welcome!

Well, come to think of it,

kid, honestly, I could go on and on.

I can explain every natural phenomenon.

The gifts, the magic, the sound. Ha!

That was Mommy just messing around.

I caught a bug, wiped off it's guts.

I bought a buzzer and gave you haircuts.

What's the lesson? What is the take-away?

Don't mess with Mommy when she's on the break-away.

And the wrinkles right here on my skin

Are just proof of the victories I win

Look where I am, I make everything happen!

Look at that mini-m-mommy just tippity-tappin' tappin'!

Ha! Ha! Hey!

Well, anyway let me say you're welcome

for the wonderful world you know!

Hey, it's okay, it's okay, you're welcome!

Well, come to think of it, I gotta go.

Hey, it's your day to say you're welcome,

'cause I'm gonna need that bed

I'm drifting away, away, you're welcome,

Cause mommy can't do anything if she's dead!

You're welcome!

You're welcome!

And thank you! [baby coo]

We are going to start with this side of the SMOVE, and the LED that is flashing will go

solid, then we are going to switch to this side.

Then we will go here.

Keep going around, just have to do all 6 sides.

METRICANTHOSAURUS AQUATIC TOURNAMENT!!! || Jurassic World - The Game - Ep 186 HD - Duration: 23:14.

ok guys we've got this all work is to

jump right into this tournament here

METRICANTHOSAURUS AQUATIC TOURNAMENT!!! || Jurassic World - The Game - Ep 186 HD

I don't know how this is gonna work for

tournament you usually start with pretty

much your lowest dinos because i usually

pretty left low-level stuff at the

beginning to see what we brought in

title of tourists that's not good

kill my kids gasp the advantage there

Lock warm

I ok not off to a great start to block

one way out flat file storage here right

up the bed like you know what are you

today the what that's like bringing up

to a battle

ok so very guys of the bed

okay let's try this again

ok so new team water shell cave let's

see who i am facing ok looking a little

better just good try it hopefully

they're not attracted he

water is one block reserves i guess

probably that is expected for the block

I killed him ok 23 and he is a case of

water got 3 i'm going to rise doing

block should chance he might just sit

down you don't want to get guys to get

distracted

hey I've got no because I had the

stronger dinos this college I have

reason to lose here for still blocking

our way

45 and I can kill five blocks and I had

religion except being distracted okay my

4 is 20 i jump right into the top 10%

job for athletic battle

okay roll

oh I will show him you know people have

one gun in those off

I didn't I I thought maybe they'd lock

for doing it well I mean I seen some

youtube videos where they have won them

so it is possible to win the card pack

of the one you're fighting in the

tournament that is ok so I'm going to

shell water cave and get this show on

the road

fighting okay

this guy does have the advantage i'm

going to 41 is research can only attack

the shell good again she'll head shave

reserves to left and is a water shell is

glued again you know what you can do it

ok so he is a shell shell the right now

this is a sense of 21 into

down

I don't get me the next you know like

that that will do i get again you used

to the class system for aquatic I mean

it is totally different really apologize

to you guys

you watching me i'm sure you guys

interested are watching me huge be

teaching you guys how to win and here is

moving like so let's try these three now

pliosaurus Thoris shell water

k three different classes

oh they got it

the shell is good against this shell

shell guys want to bring water shell is

good again this doesn't have to be

walking up like that but now we know

exactly how much you need for three

she'll go cave good again shell and he

does have one thinking this guy is

blocking now you know how he was walking

till the wire I think it's six or adjust

the text is a good chance now walking

he's like way you can try to reblock one

reserved cs6 I'd hit that wall

what now he's got one should get yes so

I was on their class here but I about

the victory

cool so much always show 257 there's I'm

in the top 5% number 29 so as you can

see I mean scores for everybody right

now so friendlier wheel

ok looks like this back pulling ok jump

to the next I'm going to try one shell

to cage what happens here said I mean

this tournament is totally dude oh wow

haha take a look at those guys

foot reserve quality making just don't

like I'm just going to build off my

reserves fighting going to go down 6x6

check out that one of the designers down

all so they have much of the chair

ok boy

x7 never had a chance to a cell damage

or aquatic battle the thing is that

nobody ever most people don't build up

their aquatic creatures because you get

so few opportunities to actually use

them

ok so let's try this applies for the

story I keep running into teams like

that last one stuck around that

Wow yes we're looking at six horas know

this

even with the class guys notice this

case bring in those two in reserve like

a very little chance of going to be

running here he is the shell is good for

you

he is waters the shell water and that's

gonna have to be water taken any of this

don't with just three attackers about

their next that all going to actually

use three what have of better chill

looks like somebody kept up with their

aquatic he knows they're the ones that

are probably doing great tournament but

i did not because there's not really any

reason to as you can see all 3 of my top

ones are water-based so let's do this

i'm going to go with the flow down six

stories I don't think I'll be able to

tell me that class of quiet running into

now it's very unlikely that a moment

please its forests and they get shell

shell is good against water are scary

and he just ok

this battles over LA right now no chairs

shit i just get back and forth but it

won't be long

I

one tap water there

I don't like okay i will try one more

battle but i'm probably gonna quit in

the middle of the next battle because i

don't have a connoisseurs i'm going to

actually release tourists would like one

more but I mean I'm going up against

dinos that are so much more powerful

than be right now because some of these

guys seem to have kept up with their

aquatic and i did did did it

get there Santa

it's like it's like you're coming up

with this direction without water

storage

attack for and and that we always

tournament we gotta have time to do it

everyday all they don't because i have

my other big toys channel which is

picking up too much chillin

so that is where i'm going to stay top

5% the form click the boxes below for a

💗Valentine's Cranberry Orange White Chocolate Blondies ~ Blondie Dessert Bar Recipe - Duration: 4:01.

Valentine's Day is coming and these

Valentine Blondie's are a sweet gift to

give to your special Valentine.

I'm Tess and welcome to my kitchen.

A blondie is a sweet dessert bar that is

similar to a brownie. Today I'm using

leftover cranberries, white chocolate

chips, and some orange to make a

delicious blondie. I just love the

flavor combination of cranberries and

orange... and to take it to a rich sweet

level, I'm using white chocolate. So let's

get started! In a bowl I have some

unsalted butter and I'm adding the

granulated and brown sugar. Taking a

spoon and just mixing and creaming

everything together. You can use a hand

mixer for this. And just a reminder that

you can find this recipe, the list of

ingredients and much more in the show

more section below. And in goes one egg,

vanilla extract and milk. Mixing well

until everything is combined. It may look

curdled to you but it is a natural

process and stage of the batter. And now

I'm adding the dry ingredients. Adding in

the flour, baking powder and a little salt.

Giving this a mix to start to get

incorporated.

Time for the fun ingredients! Now I'm

adding my white chocolate chips and the

cranberries.

I rinsed, drained and cut some of the

bigger cranberries in half. The smaller

ones I left whole. Since this is a

Valentine's recipe, I'm adding in some

cute mini heart sprinkles. Adding the

zest of half an orange and this will add

a lot of flavor. It's already smelling

like heaven! Mixing well until all

incorporated.

I have my oven preheating to 350 degrees.

I'm using an eight-by-eight baking dish

but you can use a nine by nine. If you're

using a nine by nine dish your bars will

be thinner and your baking time will be less.

I lined the dish with parchment

paper and I'm brushing with a little oil

so it will be easier to remove the blondies.

In goes my batter and leveling off.

On top goes more of the cute little

mini heart sprinkles. I will leave a link

in the show more section below where you

can purchase the heart sprinkles online.

Baking the Valentine blondies in a

350-degree oven for 30-40 minutes and

this depends on the size of your baking

dish.

Mine took 40 minutes. You want to bake

until the top is golden brown and a

toothpick in the center comes out clean.

Once the blondies are done I'm going to

let it slightly cool, remove from the

baking dish and let it finish cooling on

a wire rack.

These Valentine Blondie's are very rich...

very sweet... and very good! I'm cutting

them into small bars but you can cut them

any size that you like. I just love the

taste of the cranberries, orange and white

chocolate and they all shine through

nice and sweet!

You still have time to make these

Valentine Blondie's for your special

someone.

Valentine's Day is a day of love...

friendship and family. Remember to reach

love you.
