Ants don't have traffic jams.

Hundreds of thousands of ants can walk along narrow lanes in and out of their nest, and

the flow doesn't even stop when two ants bump into each other.

They all just keep on moving.

Scientists have noticed this, and they think we can learn a thing or two from these tiny

travelers -- and lots of other animals that do similar things.

Colonies of termites, herds of zebras, flocks of birds, schools of fish -- they all exhibit

some kind of swarming behavior, where a group of animals collectively acts as one big thing.

And they can do great things together, like perfectly synchronizing their movements, or

building huge mounds.

Wouldn't it be great if we could get machines to act like that?

The science of swarming behavior is inspiring scientists to build robots that in the future

might be able to help with everything from building construction to search-and-rescue missions.

The thing that makes swarming behavior so perfect for robotics is that in a swarm, no

one member does anything that's too complicated.

An animal is just following a few simple rules, like staying the same distance from all of

its neighbors.

That means you don't need to make the robot super fancy, and you don't need to program

each one to tell it exactly what to do.

Instead, you just give a bunch of robots the same basic rules, and because of how those

rules play out in large numbers, the group will self-organize, and figure out how to

do whatever complicated thing you want them to do.

This is already a reality in today's robotics.

In 2014, we told you about some researchers at Harvard who made over a thousand robots

that could arrange themselves into almost any pattern or shape the scientists wanted.

The scientists never told any individual robot where to go.

Instead, they just gave each one of them the same simple rules to follow: like, measure

how far you are from your neighbors, or find an outer edge of your robot swarm, and move

along that edge.

By doing those things over and over, the robots figured out exactly where to go.

Those same Harvard engineers also took some inspiration from termites to make robots that

could build pyramids, castles, and other structures out of foam blocks.

In this case, they borrowed a strategy that termites use, known as stigmergy -- a method

of indirectly communicating with each other to reach a common goal.

When humans work on huge construction projects, we need checklists and blueprints and chains

of command.

And all that involves a lot of direct communication.

But termites build by paying attention to tiny clues left over by fellow termites in

their environment.

When they make mud balls, they add in some pheromones, which tells other termites where

to build.

Each termite is really doing its own thing, but this indirect form of communication allows

them to coordinate their actions.

At Harvard, researchers used a similar idea to design robots that could place blocks based

on what the structure looked like at the moment.

So one robot could put its block somewhere that indicated where the robots behind it

should put their own blocks down.

So, they weren't just blindly building because of how they were programmed.

Instead, the robots could adapt on the fly, even when the researchers tried to mess with

them by moving blocks that robots had previously put down.

Each robot placed its block based on how the block that was put down before it was oriented.

These robot swarms are so far confined to labs, but the idea is to eventually have them

work for us, and solve real-world problems.

Some variation of these stigmergic robots might be able to build things in dangerous

places, like disaster areas -- or even on Mars.

So soon, there might be robot swarms all over the place.

...which brings us back to traffic.

Scientists have found that car traffic would flow a lot more smoothly if cars acted more

like members of swarms, with everyone following the same simple rules -- like staying the

same distance from your neighbors and letting nearby cars know what you're doing.

Humans, you might have noticed, are pretty bad at this.

Some people don't even communicate well enough to use their turn signal and they sit

there at the green light 'cause, I don't know, what are you doing?

Playing Angry Birds?

But we could use swarm-based technology to teach self-driving cars to stay the same distance

from cars around them, or we could design them so that they periodically let other cars

on the road know what they're doing.

Like everything with autonomous vehicles, it's all still in the testing and development phase.

But the natural logic of swarms might someday be our ticket to less gridlock.

Thieving Apprentice - Patch 7.2 Artifact Quest [Lore] - Duration: 10:53.

Hello everyone!

Patch 7.2 added questlines to unlock the new traits for your artifact which is obtainable

after getting 35 traits in your weapon.

While we focus our efforts on assaulting the broken shore and the tomb of sargeras, we

must be careful to guard against others threats.

We've been getting disturbing reports on the Legion starting or supporting indirect

threats to Azeroth.

While fighting against the Legion, we must keep an eye out for strange objects or intelligence

that could give uas a clue as to what and where these threats are.

We find a mysterious runebound scroll on the corpse of our enemy which confirms our concerns

about indirect Legion threats.

It's time to discuss this with the council of six in Dalaran.

"Come.

I think this is a matter best discussed privately."

Open up gate to purple parlor, teleport up "Damn it!

Another attack.

Stay alert!"

Upstairs we find dead demons on the floor and an unconscious conjurer Weinhaus.

She'll be oke though the demon didn't hang around long enough to finish the job.

The ill tiding we bear only increase the concerns the council has been having.

We have our hands full with the Tomb Of Sargeras which is our top priority- but we must not

think the Legion foolish enough to rely on brute force alone.

"As you can see, the Legion's reach still extends beyond the Broken shore."

Get in position "Their agents lurk across Azeroth, threatening

to subvert our efforts at the tomb.

They are some of the Legion's most powerful champions."

Activate display "If the plans of these fiends come to fruition,

all our efforts – all our sacrifices – will have been for naught.

Much has been asked of you in the course of this war, champion.

I fear even more is needed.

We must enlist your help to hunt these targets down.

You may be the only one with any chance of stopping them."

This questline, to my knowledge, is available for Survival Hunter, Subtlety Rogue, Havoc

Demon Hunter, Arms Warrior and Frost Death Knight.

Kalec informs us that once again the focusing iris has been stolen, this time from the dalaran

vaults.

The thief was a mage of some skill, but fortunately they dropped a note from their master adrressing

him as one of his apprentici.

They on;y know of one mage who uses that particular pluralization – Archmage Xylem.

He trains his apprentices at his tower in Azshara so that's where we must go to investigate.

Xylem's apprentice Joanna is not surprised that was suspect Xylem of stealing the focusing

Iris.

It's no secret that the archmage has been seeking artifacts lately.

After the discovery of an ancient grimoire in the Legashi ruins, Xylem has become...unstable.

She fears that the grimoire may be stealing his mind and she'll help us with getting

an audience with the archmage.

To get into the tower we must learn the secrets of unlocking's its protection and to gain

that information, we'll have to talk with some of Xylem's apprentices.

They have a thing for outfits around these parts and we'll have to appear their superior

by challenging other apprentices and earning a Fanciful Hat, Well-tailored robes, and a

Magnificent Mantle.

Archmage Xylem has been in the game since the very beginning and he's always been

eccentric and has spend quite a bit of time collecting artifacts.

During Hallow's end we find his apprentice Sanath Lim-yo trying to procure the creepy

crate which we interrupt and gain it as a pet while with the cataclysm revamp the archmage

became part of the questing experience in Azshara.

Kalec was looking for the blue dragon Azuregos and asks for our help in tracking down the

dragon.

We eventually learned that Azuregos was always trying to get his hands on magical artifacts

and since Xylem shared that passion, Azuregos tried to make friends with him.

If anyone would know where to find the dragon it would Xylem so we went out and proved ourselves

to the archmage until he eventually lead us into his tower and to the location of Azuregos

who hit it off with the spirit healer.

Even now you can still complete Xylem's trials for achievements and it seems like

his obsession with artifacts and relics has lead him down a dark path.

Perhaps we can make him see reason but first we'll have to bypass the barrier and gain

entry into the tower.

Considering the smoldering boots labeled with the name Heinrich, which were struck with

an incredible amount of arcane energy, this might not be that easy.

The apprentices around the tower will now give us the information that we need.

Girrum says that one of the other apprentices was pretty sure the order was simply right

to left, but that apprentice was called Heinrich so lets not go with that information.

Instead we follow the tips on not touching any of the crystals twice, it has something

to do with the order Xylem teaches his apprentices starting with arcane.

White comes before Red and one must master the traditional schools before delving into

the realm of shadow, meaning that the order of activating the gems is Arcane, Frost, Fire

and finally Shadow.

"Beware, hero.

The archmage may not greet you with his usual jovial demeanor.

The grimoire's hold on him has grown stronger of late.

He has become paranoid and obsessive."

"Hold a moment...you're not a real apprentice!

Have at thee, imposter!

Apprentici...attack!"

We climb the tower while smacking some sense into his apprentici who all seem to be under

the influence of some foul dark presence.

"The focusing iris will make me the most powerful mage of all time!

Just try to stop me!"

"Say you're pretty strong aren't you?

On second thought, don't try to stop me!"

"You are too late!

Take care of my pursuer, apprentice Sanath!"

"Enough!

Stay your weapon!

It seems the grimoire took my mind, just as it has eroded Xylem's ... and now he has

escaped with the Iris!

You must follow him through his portal.

Go!

Before it's too late!"

"His portal is unstable, but an echo of it remains."

"It will take time, but we may be able to use it to reach him."

It is as they feared, the archmage is beyond reason and now he's beyond our reach.

We've done a great thing here, freeing his apprentices from their corruption, but this

fight isn't over yet.

The Kirin Tor will pool their efforts with his apprentices to work on a way of reaching

him, while our heroic deed merits more than mere recognition.

The council wants to reward our heroism in the face of such darkness with a portion of

their power.

"Step back and raise your weapon.

We will infuse it with a portion of this council's power."

"I will scout ahead and interrupt this quest" "Our power manifests: Kirin'var torel,

ahm shalar, azakim!"

Ahaaaa more powerrrr "Together!

We must all lend our strength!"

INFUSE ME WITH YOUR POWAR Woei more traits to fill

"The Legion sought to use its agents to subvert our efforts at the Tomb of Sargeras.

Thanks to your efforts, they failed.

Now we focus on driving their armies from Azeroth.

We will give everything we have and finish this...once and for all!"

"Highlord, once again you have fought to safeguard Azeroth's future.

On behalf of the entire council, thank you."

This is where the story to unlock our traits ends, but Xylem is still out there, the focusin

iris in his possession.

With the Mage Tower build up on the broken shore, we're informed that they've been

able to use the remnants of Xylem's portal to pinpoint his location.

We can make our way into the Eye of Eternity to try and stop him before it's too late.

"Along with Xylem's other apprentices, I have been working to pinpoint his location.

I believe we have found him in the Eye of Eternity!

From that location, Xylem could use the Focusing Iris to wreak untold havoc on Azeroth's

ley lines.

The mages of the kirin tor can open a temporary portal to his location.

You must put an end to Xylem's madness...but please, spare his life if you can!

"

"You are too late.

With the focusing iris under my control, I can siphon the arcane energy from Azeroth's

ley lines directly into my magnificent self!

Drained of magic, your world will be ripe for destruction by my demon masters...and

my power will be limitless!...

EAT MAGIC IMPOSTER!"

This is where the true challenge begins and you actually require a bit of gear and skill

with the class, something that I'm lacking so unfortunately I won't be finishing this

quest myself.

However, Vivy on youtube has uploaded a video of their kill on this fight, a video which

I'll link in the description down below.

In it we can see the hero taking on Xylem as the archmage bombards them with frost spikes,

shadow magic, mirror images all the while trying to leech Azeroth's leylines and drain

the magic from the world.

At 10% the mage regains his composure and works on undoing the damage he has done while

the battle shifts on taking out the corrupting shadow.

Upon victory the damage is undone, the mage transports back to his tower, is done with

chasing artifacts for a while and his thankful for sparing his life.

Kalec is thankful to see the focusing iris return and hopefully this time he will be

able to keep it safe.

Tory Lanez Arrested For Having a Gun in His Unregistered Rolls-Royce - Duration: 1:16.

What's up, guys?

Beija Velez here for Complex News.

A routine traffic stop went south for Tory Lanez this week, as he was arrested in Florida

on weapon and drug charges.

According to reports, Lanez was pulled over by police in Broward County, Florida after

they spotted him driving a vehicle with expired registration tags.

But Lanez was unable to produce a valid driver's license or proof of insurance when police

approached his vehicle.

Additionally, police eventually found a concealed firearm and less than 20 grams of marijuana

inside of the vehicle and placed Lanez under arrest.

He was booked before posting $1,000 bond to secure his release.

The drug charges filed against him probably won't pose much of a problem.

They fall under the misdemeanor category, meaning Lanez will likely walk away with just

a fine for having weed in his car.

But the weapon charge could prove to be a larger issue for him.

Lanez could face a $5,000 fine for carrying a handgun in his vehicle in addition to up

to five years in prison.

The fine probably won't be a big deal to him, but any prison time could represent a

huge setback for his career.

Lanez is free for now, but he will be forced to answer to the charges filed against him

at some point in the near future.

He has not yet addressed his arrest.

2018 Subaru Outback Review: First Impressions - Duration: 2:03.

sugar just gave the legacy sedan a slew

of small update so it wasn't the stress

to think that the legacy outback sibling

the outback wagon year would get a

similar number of updates and it just

did so here we are checking it out now

we'll start up front here where Subarus

badger actually sits on kind of a more

prominent plane here in terms of just

slapped across the grill on the updated

Outback you get to the headlights it's

actually a little bit of reshaping on

these as well they kind of come in with

its in date indent here on the inboard

side now the bumpers still have a lot of

cladding it kind of curls up here a

little more than it used to send

reshaped a little bit on the outboard

side but the fog lights similar shape is

before not redesigned fog lights like

the legacy has now still lots of ground

clearance eight point seven inches of it

to be exact that's a lot when you

consider that a lot of SUVs have kind of

only in the six to eight inch range get

around to the inside of the cargo there

a few more obvious changes on the on

this updated outback first off that

center stack now all the elements sit

within kind of the same framework now

they used to be kind of divided up into

two areas before there's redesigned

climate controls below them and the

screens now a 6.5 inch screen standard

an eight inch screen optional last year

the standard screen was only six point

two inches so a little bit bigger now

apple carplay and android auto are also

standard the steering wheel has also

been lightly restyled that super says

there's a lot of other things you can't

see that have been changed things like

the shock absorbers that have been

retuned the steering the break even the

continuously variable automatic

transmissions can retune to be a little

bit smoother and the 4-cylinder engine

is a little bit quieter now Subaru says

so we won't know how the summary effect

of all that changes the outback but we

should closer to it on sale date in

summer of 2017 so stay tuned for more

[Thomas Slaughter] The class I'm teaching this spring is

"The History of Eating and Food".

So, we're looking at issues in

sustainability and nutrition and cuisine

and food preparation and in food distribution.

[Steven Terry] So, the signature items are

it's really a chicken wine and mushroom dish.

[Thomas Slaughter] To celebrate Thomas Jefferson's

birthday we're having the special lunch

catered by a chef who's using recipes

from Monticello during

Thomas Jefferson's lifetime.

[Steven Terry] Mace and nutmeg to me are something you put on coffee or a

cookie once a year whereas mixing it in

with a white chicken dish really brought

out the creamy flavor and is very good.

[Thomas Slaughter] One of the reasons I like the

students to sample this food is to

experience the ways in which the

flavoring of food is entirely different

[Louis Herman] I bit into this and there was a

little less salt than I expected, but it's good.

[Anna Alden] Definitely fresher and more natural.

[Ben Weinstein] I think it's a little more simple. You can taste everything individually.

[Thomas Slaughter] Our tongues we

don't experience sweet or salty unless

they are heavily sweetened or heavily

salted by comparison to that era.

[Ben Weinstein] It was super fresh and flavorful. It's a nice change

from the normal dining experiences on campus.

[Anna Alden] I would definitely say, I think

it's a lot less salt. A little bit less

of like a richer flavor, but I think we've

just become accustomed to that now.

[Thomas Slaughter] Thomas Jefferson's house was probably

one of the very best places to eat in

the whole country. So, if you were there

this time of year, April, you'd probably

get asparagus because this is the time

of year that asparagus was available.

Lots of root vegetables. Two-thirds of

the plate would be vegetables. A very

small portion of protein.

[Steven Terry] One of the interesting things about the difference

is the use of, well, they would have been

exotic spices. Emphasis on things like

mace, vanilla, nutmeg, things that are

available only through long distance

Atlantic trade at the time.

[Thomas Slaughter] The premise of the class is that food has been

essential not just the survival of human

beings but to the development of human

culture and that those two things are

deeply and

almost inextricably combined. So, this is

something that we can talk to the

students about, but tasting it is

something that you can't duplicate in

any other way.

So the video we decided to do for this year's

world IP day is a take-off of our theme, which is "Digital Creativity." And we decided

to focus on video games. So in talking about how we could promote, market the

piece, we thought- "Hey, let's do an animation, a short 30-second one that we could

put up on social media, and make it look like an old video game."

When we were thinking of doing a video game, we obviously wanted to harken back to the original video games

that we all remember from when we were kids. So the 8-bit look was what we were going for.

going to remind people of their favorite video games from when they were young.

Ralph Baer, he's really considered by most to be the father of the original video game.

He was the first one that took the concept of taking a game and applying it to something

that -- back in the late 60s, early 70s -- most people had in their home: the television set.

Before that, game were board games, Monopoly, things of that nature but he really took

it a step farther. He said, "Hey, you know what, people have this TV at home.

Wouldn't it be great if we created an environment where everyone could sit down, the family, children,

and kind of immerse themselves into a new world?"

Make a game, not just by moving pieces around on a board, but something they can take and

sit around the TV and play this game, and immerse themselves in a new reality, a new world.

At the time that Pac-Man was released in the

American arcade environment, most of the games were about war -- Missile Command, Asteroid,

Space Invaders. It was this attack and military-themed sort of games that were there. So here comes

this brightly colored, you know, Pac-Man character who comes into this arcade and it's brightly

colored and all of a sudden, you have women coming into arcades, all of the sudden you

have children coming into arcades. You had character based games that then saw

the creation of all sorts of games that were similar: Mappy and Pengo and all these

sorts of games followed because artist now understood it was ok to create these games

with mascots. And so each one of those games changed the industry, and the society in which

they were introduced. And it changed sociologically the makeup of arcades, which were predominantly

male, predominantly aggressive sorts of games.

There's a lot of time and effort and creativity

involved in designing, producing and distributing a video game. There are the code behind the

game, there's the music -- you'll get separate musicians who will compose the music,

you'll get artists and designers who will create the box art and the labeling.

So there's a lot of time and effort that's put into that and you want to be able to reward the

people for their creativity. They've created something new and novel and exciting.

So, intellectual property is an extremely important way where we can protect those rights

of the people who create, and so they're continued to be inspired to make more,

and to profit from what they've worked so hard for.

At the USPTO we have registered millions of trademarks from foreign and domestic applicants

over the years. Video game companies like Nintendo and Tecmo have registered their company

names as trademarks for video game programs and cartridges back in the early 1990s. More

recently, many video game companies are registering marks to be used to identify online gaming

platforms as both companies and gaming evolves into new and innovative ways.

I think one thing that's helped me out in my career from playing video games is learning

how to fail safety and successfully. I think today we're so immersed in wanting

to get things right the first time and not giving ourselves a chance to fail.

Any innovator will tell you that failure is critical to innovation. Recovering and learning

from failure is often what leads to new ideas and new inventions.

Well in video games you have that change to fail, and go back and problem solve, because

you want to solve that puzzle, you want to beat that level, you want to get that you

know that sword that at the end of the tunnel.

So video games provide us with a safe place to problem solve, and eventually succeed.

The digital age has changed how we make and create, how we collaborate, even how we entertain

ourselves. Increasingly, we can access content from creators

across the world wherever, whenever and however we want. But with that increased access comes

challenges for creators and innovators to retain the benefits of their investment in

time and energy to create goods and services that entertain us all.

This year's World IP Day explores some of the issues surrounding our increasingly digital culture.

Just last month… the navies of the three allied countries engaged in military exercises

planning a mock invasion of Korea… in an effort to improve cooperation.

North Korea has been an international sticking point since at least 2006… when they tested

nuclear weapons for the first time.

In the subsequent years… the despotic nation has been holding its neighbors Japan and South

Korea, hostage with the threat of nuclear and ballistic missile bombardment.

Hey Guys!

Have you ever wondered if a girl likes you?

Do you feel like guessing a woman's feelings is like trying to learn morse code?

Well, there's a number of signs to look for that will tell you if she's interested

or not.

And that's what I will share with you in this video.

My name is Kate Spring, I'm a relationship and dating coach from Victoria, BC, and I

want to show you how to tell if the girl you like also likes you.

First of all, it is important to understand that men and women communicate in somewhat

different ways and for different reasons.

Men typically communicate to achieve an end goal, for example, making a plan to hangout;

in contrast, women communicate to maintain relationships.

So for men to understand some of the signs to indicate whether a girl likes you or not,

we have to be open to different ideas.

In this video I will share 8 signs that a girl is into you.

But just before we begin, I want to thank you for all of your comments and remind you

Ok, here are 8 signs to look for when trying to decipher if a girl likes you:

The first sign is eye contact.

This might seem basic to you, but eye contact is a very important cue to read in body language.

Eye contact speaks volumes about a person's comfort level in a given situation.

When someone is uncomfortable, eye contact becomes more sporadic.

And when there is genuine interest in someone, and what they are saying, we become more relaxed

and our eye contact becomes fixated on the person we are speaking to.

You may recall from some of my other videos about how to approach a woman, we discussed

how important it is to create a comfortable space to have the kind of conversation that

makes people want to share with you.

If you make your lady of interest comfortable, chances are her eye contact will be fixated

on you.

The second sign is touching.

Touching is a given: if a woman touches you, she wants to be touched by you.

And the longer she touches you the better.

The third cue that she is interested in you is if she laughs -- even at your bad jokes.

Laughter makes us feel good; it creates a common bond, and if you can make someone laugh

and relax them, as opposed to make them uncomfortable, this will increase your chances that you will

get a call back.

Like I've said before, women communicate to maintain relationships, and the number

one way we do this is by texting.

And for our fourth point of interest, if you are not face to face with your crush, the

immediacy with which a woman responds to your text message can actually reveal several things:

a) that she respects your time, and b.) she probably likes you.

We have all, at some point in our life, played the game of delaying our text message to seem

somewhat aloof to the situation when, in actual fact, our insides are churning with excitement.

And if someone says they have never done this, they are lying.

Alright here's the truth: if a girl is responding to you, I would say she has some interest

in you.

Anyway, back to the topic… here's the bottom line: If a girl is keeping the conversation

going over text, she is trying to create/maintain a relationship with you.

When a woman isn't into you, she will be more aloof, and you should read: "We want you to

know we aren't into you."

Short answers are a bad sign.

The use of emoticons in texting is also a somewhat decent indication that someone might

have feelings for you.

How she presents herself is the fifth way that you can tell if a woman is interested

in you.

I don't know if this will shock you or not, but most women pride themselves on their appearance.

One question you can ask yourself is does she have dry hair?

If you've ever met me, if I leave the house with wet hair, it usually means I don't

care or I'm just hungover.

If you meet up with a girl who looks GOOOD, that usually means she is trying to impress

you, which means she likes you!!

We want you to be attracted to us.

And for a female, getting ready is part of the build-up of excitement when we are being

courted.

If we like you, we will get dressed for you.

It's not a bad thing to want to look your best because for many people looking your

best also helps you feel your best.

And that isn't a bad thing.

Number six, if she tells her friends about you, that means you're on her mind, and

if you have made it that far, congratulations!

You've penetrated her daily thoughts.

When someone shares stories about you, that means she has stories to tell, which either

means you have spent some time together or she wants to spend time with you.

Generally, when a woman includes you in future plans, that means she imagines some sort of

future with you.

Even if it is just a group hangout, or like an, "omg, we should do this!" that means she

is thinking about you and wants to continue getting to know you.

And last, but not least, and arguably the most complex way to tell if she likes you

or not, is, wait for it, she will straight up tell you!

Shocking, I know!

Woman can be very mysterious and confusing, but both male and females have very similar

tendencies, and the more you get to know people, the more you will learn that we are not as

different as we like to think we are.

This is not 100% of women because the girl who is more shy will most likely allow her

friend to tell you that she likes you.

But regardless, you will know some way or another.

Now if you see the girl you like doing a few of the things I mentioned above, then things

are looking good for you!

But don't get too comfortable yet… you still need to keep her interested and keep

the spark alive, and sadly a lot of guys have NO CLUE how to do that….
