Youtube daily report Apr 14 2017

(The hot place for designs)

(Korea's landmark DDP)

(Dongdaemun Design Plaza, Jung-gu, Seoul)

(108th class at the foreigner school)

This is My Neighbor, Charles

where we meet foreigners living in Korea.

- Hello. / - Hello.

- It's spring. / - Yay!

The spring breeze. It feels amazing.

Flowers will begin to bloom soon.

Let's go see the flowers together.

In France, when it's spring,

the terrace culture comes to life again.

People sit out on the streets in Paris.

That sounds great.

Let's invite our guest who has come

like a spring flower.

Give a round of applause.

- Wow. / - Yes.

(A new student at the foreigner school)

Hello.

- So cute. / - Hello.

- Hello. / - Hello.

How pretty.

Anur is so cute.

- Sparkly eyes. / - His expression is so adorable.

Hello.

I'm Hong Hana from Uzbekistan.

- She's Jimin. / - Jimin.

Hello, I'm in first grade, class 1

and my name is Hong Jimin.

(Amazed)

His name is Anur

and that's an Uzbek name.

He goes to kindergarten.

- She's smart. / - So cute.

I think she spoke the clearest

out of all the children who appeared on the show.

Jimin seems very mature

but she's only in first grade of elementary.

Your front teeth have fallen out.

(But she's still lovely)

You just started school.

What's the best thing about going to school?

I like playing with my friends.

I like getting close with my friends.

And I like studying with my friends.

(Proud)

- Are you good at studying. / - Yes.

- Are you? / - Yes.

How did you raise your daughter? She's so smart.

But your name is Hong Hana.

Are you Korean?

No, I'm from Uzbekistan.

I came to Korea 10 years ago.

I was naturalized three years ago.

Maybe it's because you lived her for 10 years

and was naturalized.

You seem like a very elegant Korean mother.

- I agree. / - I bet people say that you look Korean.

I hear that often.

They think I'm Korean when we talk on the phone.

So they get shocked when they see me saying,

"Oh, you're not Korean."

You are raising the kids alone, right?

Yes, I got a divorce.

You're divorced.

What do you do to make a living?

I'm an interpreter at an employment center.

I see. You speak Korean very well.

- And Uzbek. / - Korean, Uzbek...

Russian, and English. I speak four languages.

That many?

You are a talented woman who speaks 4 languages.

- And she's a single parent. / - Yes.

After listening to her experience of discrimination,

I feel like she has a lot of burden on herself.

Let's watch her life in Korea

with her two beautiful kids.

(My Neighbor, Charles)

Hana loves going out for a walk these days.

Her steps seem very light.

So refreshing.

The reason she came all the way up to the peak is...

Thank you.

I feel like I'll fly away.

It's to see this breathtaking view.

(I'm a mom, so it's okay)

Let's look into the cheerful mom,

Hana's day.

(Mokpo, Jeollanam-do)

It's Hana and her two cute children's house.

(Hana is preparing breakfast)

Morning is the busiest time for the mom.

No matter how tired she is

she puts a lot of love into making breakfast.

(The kids are still asleep)

Jimin is still sleeping.

Kids, wake up.

(Hong Jimin, 7 years old)

She's the reliable first child

but she's still a 7-year-old girl

who wants to stay by her mom.

The mom has to take care of

her 4-year-old son as well.

But she still succeeds in waking them up.

Anur, hurry up.

The siblings are brushing their teeth.

(Hurry up, bro)

(Don't hit me)

He's hitting her sister.

Oh, dear.

(I'm so angry)

Anur has begun to throw a fit.

He didn't want to wake up and brush his teeth

so he took this moment as his chance.

A man shouldn't cry since the morning.

They have breakfast after all the trouble.

Jimin behaves and has her breakfast.

4-year-old Anur picks up the chocolate first.

You should have breakfast. You can't have cookies.

He got caught.

Don't have chocolate.

Anur listens to her sister.

It's really hard to get children to have breakfast.

Hurry up and eat. The teacher will call soon.

Hurry up and eat, Anur.

Eat quickly like me.

- You have to go to the daycare. / - No...

Why not?

Why not? I have to go to work.

It's a busy morning, taking care of two kids.

He used to go to the daycare with her sister

but now he has to go alone so he's upset.

Mommy!

Have fun with your friends. Bye!

Take care, Anur.

This time, it's Jimin's turn.

Oh, the keys!

Make sure you stay here.

- Okay. / - Okay?

- I'll be right back. / - Sure.

Stop forgetting things!

She does that very often.

(Rushing)

- Let's go. / - Yes.

Sit down.

You can't help but forget things

when you are taking care of your children.

Jimin, you are 7 years old

but you go to school so you are not a baby anymore.

So listen to your teacher

and have fun with your friends.

Jimin answered confidently.

How is she at school?

It's a must at the beginning of a semester.

It's time to introduce yourself.

Let's listen to this cheerful first runner.

I'm 7 years old.

No, I'm 8 years old.

And I like...

I'm good at playing block puzzles.

Great job.

Next is Jimin.

Will she be able to do well without getting nervous?

I'm Hong Jimin.

I'm 7 years old.

My mom is from Uzbekistan

and I'm from Uzbekistan too.

My mom speaks Korean very well

and so do I.

My dad's name is Hong Seollae

and he's a CEO.

Let's be good friends.

She's very smart.

Hana, you must be proud.

Hana came to Seoul in order to learn Korean.

She married a Korean man and

settled in Mokpo.

But she got divorced 3 years ago

and is now raising two children alone.

I'm divorced but

it was a divorce by consent

so there is no bad feeling between us.

We just agreed to get a divorce

so we are not in a bad relationship.

(Living as a single parent)

- Hello. / - Hello.

- You look gorgeous today. / - Thank you.

She's the head of her family

so she can't stop working.

She's been working at an employment center

for foreigners since 2 years ago.

She's a interpreter for foreigners looking for jobs.

When I came back to Korea after my holiday

in Uzbekistan, my company was closed down.

They said I can't live in Korea

if I'm not able to find a job in a month.

So I came to look for a job.

Don't worry. I will do my best to help you.

I thought she was Korean because it's very

hard to see a person wearing a hijab in Mokpo.

But she was an Uzbek so I was very surprised.

I'm very happy to see someone from my home.

(I hear that a lot)

- Thank you. / - Good-bye.

Actually, I came here very recently

so I get a lot of help from Hana.

She's a great working mom

who is acknowledged even at work.

(That afternoon)

She came to a jewelry shop after work.

It looks like she ordered something already.

She must've liked this bracelet.

You can write your name in English here

and your telephone number will go on the back.

She loses consciousness once in a while

so she decided to get this bracelet.

Please put my name.

I will put your name.

- What about your phone number? / - My ex-husband's.

Your ex-husband's number? Okay.

I think it started about a year ago.

It got worse starting a year ago.

I keep forgetting things

and my heart keeps beating fast.

My body doesn't feel right.

I'm a mom who shouldn't be sick.

There's no one to take care of my kids

if I'm sick.

(That night)

Anur!

You should study.

Sit down. Sit down properly.

This 4-year-old doesn't want to study.

Hold your head up.

Hold your head up.

Don't do that.

Anur, you are supposed to study with that.

A circle.

You know, right?

What is this?

Mother.

How do you say that in Uzbek?

Jimin is confused. Right then...

Wow, Anur got it right.

What about in Russian?

- Mama. / - Good.

It's mommy in English.

That's okay. It'll be more confusing

if you also learn English now.

Let's learn Uzbek, Russian

and Korean first.

Okay.

We use Uzbek in Uzbekistan

but many people also speak Russian.

It'll be easier for them in Uzbekistan in the future

if they learn these languages.

That's why I'm teaching them both.

It's fun and it makes me happy.

What's father in Uzbek?

I miss dad.

- You miss daddy? / -Yes.

Let's call him and meet him when he has time.

For now, let's focus and study.

Focus, Anur.

What have you done? Look!

- What's this? / - He made a mess in an instant.

I never told you to color. I told you to write.

You need a scolding.

Anur starts acting

after noticing that his mommy is angry.

Are you upset?

Get up.

Put your hands up.

His acting is no use in front of mommy.

Stand up over here. Raise your hands.

Don't cry.

Put them up properly.

Hana strictly disciplines them

as she's worried that

the kids will become rude since she's a single parent.

Put your hands up.

But to 4-year-old Anur

everything about this situation is upsetting.

What a crybaby. Stop crying.

Stay like that.

Put your hand up. Where are you going?

I haven't told you to leave.

Stay just like that.

Don't cry.

Are you going to say sorry?

Say, "I'm sorry, mommy."

Anur kisses his mom as an apology.

His face is covered in snot, but he's still cute.

- Jimin. / - Yes.

It's time to pray.

Hana is a Muslim

and she prays 5 times a day.

Look. You look beautiful.

Mom, none of my friends wear hijabs.

I don't want to wear it. I think they'll tease me.

It's because they are curious.

It's because they've never seen

someone with a hijab.

You need to practice wearing it.

You'll start wearing it when you enter third grade.

Do you remember what I've taught you?

Say it.

Good job.

Jimin is still young so she needs time

in order to accept and take in all these things.

(An intruder)

I hate you.

Anur disturbs their holy prayer time.

(Jimin still manages to pray in silence)

Hana is leading a tough life

as a Muslim in an foreign land.

Will Jimin be able to understand her mom in future?

(Will Jimin be able to do well?)

I'm teaching her little by little

so that she gets used to this as she grows up.

By teaching her the prayer

and how to wear the hijab,

I'm making her get used to the religion.

That's why I make her practice.

If she learns everything at once without any practice,

it'd be mentally very difficult for her.

That's why I'm teaching her little by little.

Their chaotic day has come to an end.

Mom, I don't want to sleep.

No, you need to. Close your eyes.

(I don't want to sleep either)

- Yes. / - Okay? You'll get a scolding if you don't sleep.

Good night.

(Mom's secret)

Finally, Hana enjoys her free time.

She doesn't seem like the cheerful Hana

we saw at work with her colleagues

or when she was with her kids.

Her depression is very serious

that she needs medication.

It was very hard after

Jimin was born due to postpartum depression.

When I'm alone like this

it's really difficult for me.

I always feel lonely and difficult.

It's so hard.

Living in a foreign land

without having overcome postpartum depression

made her life even more difficult.

I was diagnosed with a headache,

migraine, nausea and even depression.

I think I have early or acute symptoms of dementia.

It's because...

Hana is worried that

even her memory is fading away

due to depression.

My sickness and depression is getting worse

so I asked for a divorce

to my husband first.

I didn't want him to suffer because of me.

I'm the only one who's sick so

I didn't want to cling onto him

She chose to get a divorce 3 years ago

because she didn't want to burden her husband.

(The next day)

Hana seems to have something to say to Jimin.

I have to go to the hospital because I'm sick.

Take care of your brother when he comes.

- You can do that, right? / - Yes.

- Really? / - Yes.

I can cook rice too.

I know you can, but it's dangerous.

It's dangerous as it's hot so please don't cook.

- Alright, bye. / - Bye.

It looks like Hana was worried for no reason.

("J" Hospital, Mokpo)

Why did she come to the hospital?

I came to do a dementia test.

I'm too nervous.

My heart is really heavy.

I want the results to come out well.

Oh, no...

She came because of her memory problem.

It all sounds like me.

She feels uneasy just in case she has a problem.

You can say you don't know if you are unsure.

What year is this year?

2017.

What season is it now?

Spring.

I will tell you 3 words now.

Repeat after me and try to memorize the order.

- Airplane. / - Airplane.

- Pencil. / - Pencil.

- Pine tree. / - Pine tree.

What are the things you just said?

Airplane, pencil, pine tree.

I was wondering what Jimin was doing.

She's very busy cleaning.

Is it time for my baby to come?

I have to pick up my baby.

It's time for her brother to come home.

Anur, did you have fun at the daycare?

- Did you study hard today? / - Yes.

What did you study?

(This and that)

She even put on her apron.

Anur, don't pull my apron!

(Come play with me)

I'm going to tell mom. Geez.

Jimin takes a special measure.

(I want that too)

(Bam)

Oh, dear.

(I hate you!)

(He lost his candy and got hit)

Anur, I'm sorry.

He begins wailing at his place.

Jimin has her candy.

(Give me my candy)

Her brother is not the type to sit still.

She gives the candy to comfort her brother.

Give me one.

Give me one.

Strawberry flavored candy...

He took his sister's candy and ran away.

Strawberry flavored candy.

Jimin is upset as well.

Strawberry flavored candy.

Maybe he feels sorry after seeing his sister cry.

(I can't lose)

I'm the mom today so if you give me

the strawberry candy, I will give you this.

It's a difficult choice for a 4-year-old.

Will you give me this?

I'll make you something delicious.

Finally, everything became peaceful again.

She doesn't forget to give his brother his snacks.

They seem very close as if nothing happened.

Mommy will try it first.

(It's chocolate bread)

- Do you like what mom does for you? / - Yes.

Eat up.

He listens to his sister very well this time.

Meanwhile, I wonder how the results of

Hana's dementia test came out.

Last time, you were hospitalized

because of a headache and nausea.

I heard you are worried a lot about dementia.

So we checked...

You take slightly long when you think

and a slight failure in memory.

In the detailed test,

your depression score was 46.

Usually, 20 is the standard.

If it is over 20, we consider it as

serious depression.

Therefore, you have a very severe case of depression.

If you interpret it correctly,

it's pseudodementia caused by depression.

So it's fake dementia.

It happens mainly in old age.

Yes.

You are living in a foreign country

and you get a lot of stress from many things.

Also, things might not be working out your way.

So it's possible to have depression at a young age.

And because of that, if you think that your thoughts

are not going your way, many people feel that

their cognitive abilities have declined.

I can't express myself in words.

It's so hard in my heart.

I understand. It must be mentally very difficult.

I know it's hard but

be active in your social life.

Also, it'll help a lot and

keep you in good mood

if you go hiking and exercise.

Thank you.

I'm really glad that she doesn't have dementia.

I'm so worried about my kids.

I kept thinking about what to do.

I should take medication and get better.

I must get better.

(Hang in there, Hana)

Hana feels so much better today than any other days.

Oh, it looks delicious.

She should fill up her stomach

in order to cheer up.

Hello.

Goodness, it's been a long time since you last came.

- I haven't been well lately. / - I see.

You shouldn't be so sick. You should stay healthy.

(It's the best to eat it alive)

They say even a collapsed cow

can get up if it eats this. Enjoy it.

Thank you.

- It looks good. / - It's delicious.

(She knows how to enjoy a live octopus)

It looks like she's enjoying it.

(Yum)

In Mokpo, the small octopus is the best!

I agree. I think the Mokpo octopus is really good.

When you chew,

the octopus is very chewy

so it relieves my stress inside my head.

Don't get sick again and come again.

- Thank you. / - Come back and have a meal.

She buys walnuts and peanuts

which help you with your memory.

It's delicious.

They say these help with your memory.

I should have some too

in order to protect my health.

That's why I bought these.

I wonder how the kids are doing.

Oh, Anur! You're home.

Did you miss your mom?

How have you been?

How was it being a mom?

It wasn't fun? Was it hard?

It was hard for Jimin.

Jimin, you did a great job. You're the best.

Both of you did great today.

(Hana is talking to someone)

Who are you calling, Hana?

Mom, how are you doing?

I'm good.

Jimin is a year younger than her friends

but she became the class president.

I'm so proud. That's nice to hear.

Don't be sick, mom.

Don't worry. I'm praying hard

so my health is getting better.

You take good care of your health

and your kids.

You too, mom. Take medication on time

and maintain your health. Don't worry about me.

As soon as she hangs up

she begins crying.

My mom has colorectal cancer.

My mom doesn't know that I'm sick.

It will be even harder for her.

It could make things even harder for my mom.

It's better not to tell her.

There are so many things for her to cope with.

(Mom's dream)

Hana is busily headed to somewhere.

What are you doing? The lights changed.

Oh, I missed it. Oh, no.

She's worried because this happens

quite often these days.

(Mokpo Police Station)

Hana came in a rush to the police station.

What is going on?

We waited for a long time

but there's no news of her.

She came out after an hour.

It's a tough situation because it's a sex crime.

He should be working hard and earning money

but he committed such a crime

so I'm very angry.

Hana is an interpreter for an Uzbek

who committed a crime in Korea.

This time, she has to attend the trial with him.

I translated the content into Uzbek.

I'm from the same country as him

but I'm so embarrassed of what he has done.

I'm depressed and very angry.

I'm so mad.

Working at the police station,

Hana got a new dream.

It's to become a police officer.

She failed the test last time

and this is her second attempt.

Find the wrong description of an emergency car.

It's hard. Oh, dear.

I want to be an interpreter

for a police station in the foreign affairs division.

I think I should study.

I took the test 2 years ago

but I failed.

I need to try. I should try.

A woman with a hijab can do something like this.

I want to show people that.

Hana, you're amazing.

Hana is on an outing with Jimin.

What color is that?

- Red. / - Red.

I have to put my hand up.

- That's right. / - Left and right.

I have to see if cars are coming.

Let's see if Jimin is good.

Good job.

They came here for grocery shopping.

Jimin, do you know what you need when you cook?

- Yes. / - What do you need?

Radish, potato and cucumber.

I'll give you $20.

Add that with $5 you have

and you go buy the ingredients.

Ask for fresh and delicious ones.

- Say that when you ask. / - Okay.

Go ahead.

I need 3 cucumbers.

Do you want one radish?

- Yes, I want one. / - Say please.

Please.

She's only 7 years old but she's very good.

Did you buy them? Pay for them now.

Tell her you want to pay.

Here you go.

I'll give you another cucumber because you're so cute.

- Yes. / - Thank you.

She got an extra cucumber.

She calculates and pays.

She's the best.

Make a lot money and be healthy.

And spend a lot of money.

- Thank you. You stay healthy too. / - Yes.

Go buy a mackerel.

Okay? Can you do it?

Excuse me.

- Do you need anything? / - Excuse me.

One grilled mackerel, please.

And cut it up please.

What are you going to do with it?

I'm going to eat.

Do you know how to eat?

I don't know.

Cut it up like this.

After doing this...

- Sprinkle some salt here. / - Yes.

It's delicious if you grill it and

it's also good even if you fry it.

Her mom is half-worried, half-excited.

She did very well this time too.

Make a lot of money and be healthy.

- Bless you. / - Yes.

Well done.

So pretty. Good job.

I'm sick so

I'm teaching her how to do things by herself.

And since she's a girl and an older child,

so I'm teaching her to lead a good life.

I'm sure Jimin can do anything.

Hana is busy preparing for dinner.

She seems busy talking on the phone and cooking.

Today's menu is Uzbek food.

My kids love this dish and it's really good.

She adds plenty of spices.

It has a distinct scent but it's very good.

The dough is rolled like pizza

and plenty of meat and vegetables are added.

Then it's rolled and steamed.

It looks like a big dumpling.

It's Uzbek dish called "hanum."

You know how to cook rice, right?

Should I bring rice?

Get the rice and wash it.

(Fidgeting)

She tries her best with her tiny hands.

Jimin.

You can't throw rice away.

Oh, no.

(Rice that was washed away)

Look. Like this...

The professional housewife teaches her

every little things.

When you cook rice, you have to put water in.

You have to try.

If the water comes up to here,

the rice will turn out nicely.

- Up to here. - / Right.

There's a reason why

she's teaching chores to Jimin who is still young.

She's still young and

I feel bad but she still needs to learn it.

There's no one to take care of her except me.

The Uzbek dumpling, hanum,

is now complete.

There's even kimchi stew.

There are two dishes from two different countries.

Anur, have some of this.

She says it's even more delicious

if you pour some yogurt on top.

Anur enjoys the dish.

Jimin, do you like Korean food

or Uzbek food?

- Korean food. / - Why?

It's good. I like kimchi stew.

Really? But Uzbek food is good too.

- No, it has onions in it so it's not good. / - Alright.

Jimin likes spicy kimchi stew.

She has a traditional palate for a 7-year-old.

Jimin takes after her dad so she like Korean food

and Anur takes after me

so he enjoys Uzbek food and snacks.

Moms are happy if their kids just eat well.

- Mom, your phone is ringing. / - Really?

- I mean it. / - I will find it.

Where is it?

- Anur, will you find it for me? / - Yes.

(Why aren't you looking for her phone?)

Maybe I threw it in the trash can?

- Trash can... / - Where is it?

What is this sound coming from the fridge?

The sound is coming from the fridge.

Here it is.

Oh, no.

Yes, hello.

Yes.

Really?

You'll be here after 3?

Okay. I'll get the kids ready.

Jimin, Anur, dad is coming today.

- Have fun with dad today. / - Okay.

Yes, I will listen to dad very well.

- Really? / - Yes.

- Are you happy? / - Yes.

I like mom and dad the most!

Okay.

Dad!

(My dad is the best)

You can't feed them pork.

I won't let you meet the kids next time. Okay?

Dad, I want to go to the beach.

- You want to go to the beach? / - Yes.

It's the ocean!

Jimin is happy to be with her dad.

Even after the divorce, he keeps in touch with Hana

and also meets regularly with his children.

- Jingi, are you happy to see me? / - Yes.

- Do you like daddy? / - Yes.

How much?

You like me very much?

- Hold me too. / - Sure.

Anur is upset that the dad is holding his sister.

Come here.

No, no, no.

He must've forgotten after seeing the car.

Dad!

I'm coming too.

It'd be nice if they could always be together.

It breaks dad's heart to see the kids look so happy.

I'm sorry I can't play with you often.

Okay?

Is it fun? Honk your horn.

It looks like Anur is having fun the most.

(It's a toy)

Jingi, which one do you want?

They can't miss out on the toys.

Dad, I'm hungry. I want meat!

Do you want meat?

They want to be with their dad

but we are divorced so it's not possible.

I'm sorry for my kids about this situation.

I lived without my dad too.

I lived without my dad when I was a kid.

That's why I get along with my husband.

I want my children to be loved

and I don't want them to be stressed.

So I try to get along with my husband.

(They came to a barbecue restaurant)

Just as Hana told him,

he came to a beef restaurant instead of pork.

I want to feed my children all types of meat

but my wife doesn't like it so

I try to feed them beef as much as possible.

Stop playing your feet.

The husband tries to respect

and understand Hana's religion and culture.

- Jimin, is it fun going to school? / - Yes.

- It's fun. / - Is it?

They are adorable. All the time.

He just feels sorry that

he can't take care of them all the time.

I'm a Korean man

so I work day and night.

I should've taken care of the kids on holidays

but sometimes I couldn't.

I think I was more negligent

compared to other husbands.

It's time to part with the kids.

My son doesn't like it when we go back home.

What? Is it my house?

Yes, it's your house.

No!

As they are near the house, Anur starts crying

knowing that he has to say good-bye to his dad.

(Anur is sad to part with dad)

No, no. Go home.

Dad also feels upset every time this happens.

No, no.

- Dad. / - Next time.

Let's go see him next time.

No, no.

Bye-bye.

I'll play with you next week.

It's hard for the dad to leave as well.

What I want the most is...

I think she should get her mind treated first.

If her mind gets fixed,

I think other things will get fixed too.

I feel sorry for him too.

I feel sorry but we got divorced

because of my problem

so I wish he lives a happy life.

The husband understands his wife very well

so they are enduring this hardship together.

(My Neighbor, Charles)

It seems like she's going

through a tough time

but she's hanging in there because of her kids.

It must've been very difficult.

It is very difficult.

What's worst?

It's tiring to take care of the kids alone

and if I'm sick or if something happens,

my kids will be left alone.

I'm from another country

so my mom or my family aren't here.

There's no one.

I saw the video and it looks like

Jimin takes a good care of her brother.

My mom taught me little by little

and if I behave, she said she'll get me

a huge doll from Japan.

I think she understands her mom's situation.

I feel that the responsibility Jimin has

is a bit of a burden for her.

Jimin does have a lot on her shoulders.

Sometimes when I forget things,

she gets them for me.

At times like those, I'm very proud of her

and she's so adorable.

You're amazing, Jimin.

Jimin, do you like taking care of your mom...

- And your little brother? / - Yes.

He's like a toy.

He's like a toy?

Sometimes your toy-like brother

doesn't listen to you.

When do you feel upset the most?

When he takes away my things,

I tell mom and he gets a scolding.

How do you feel when you see him get scolded?

I feel great.

(What an honest 7-year-old)

- So cute. / - She is.

- You can go out. / - Go take care of your brother.

Thank you.

Bye-bye.

She's so nice.

You started preparing as you thought

there was a problem with your health.

But it's a relief that

you don't have dementia.

Yes.

I was worried because I'm fine

but I was scared I might not be able to

recognize my kids.

And how they'll survive in this foreign land.

- I can't just leave them alone. / - That's right.

I'm glad that you came today.

We will listen and try to solve your worry.

(I feel uneasy)

"I feel uneasy."

This is the most difficult problem to solve.

You keep forgetting things because

you are not well mentally.

I forget things and I feel depressed.

I also feel out of breath when my heart beats fast.

It seems you don't really have the time to get treated.

You have to take care of the kids and work.

Sometimes I feel bad because I'm worried

that I'm making things difficult for my children.

Have you ever thought of going back to Uzbekistan

because things were so difficult?

That'd be good for me but

if Jimin goes to Uzbekistan,

she will also be a foreigner there.

She has to experience the same things there

that I experienced in Korea.

And I'm sure the lifestyle and culture

will be all unfamiliar to her.

How's your husband and children's relationship?

Do they meet and call each other often?

Yes, they meet often. I don't stop them from meeting.

They should meet him because he's the dad

and I say okay when they want to sleep at his house.

They get along like good friends.

So you and your husband are also friends...

Yes, we got a divorce by consent

so we call each other often and he meets the kids often.

We also meet once in a while.

Are you getting any help from your ex-husband?

Yes.

We're very curious about your ex-husband's thoughts.

So we've invited him here.

- Come in. / - Come in.

(The ex-husband has come in secret)

Hello.

I'm Jimin and Anur's dad, Hong Seollae.

Hello.

- Wow, flowers! / - It's beautiful.

Whose idea was it?

- Did you think of it on your own? / - Yes.

She likes flowers very much.

I see.

It must've been very hard for you to come here.

What made you decide to come here?

She has depression so

I came thinking that this would refresh her

and make her feel more at ease.

Actually, people from the Hong family

are soft-hearted.

And they are very friendly.

It's been a while since you met her.

How do you feel?

It's nice to see her smile.

Your ex-wife is going through a tough time

but you always want to be of help.

She came to Korea just because of me.

She doesn't know anyone in Korea

and there's no one to take care of her.

I can't betray someone who came for me.

And she's Jimin and Anur's mom.

Of course I should help her.

Also, I think that you need

someone to rely on to fix your wounded heart.

I think it's best that I stand by her side and watch her.

When things are tough,

you will listen to her worries

and share your heart like a friend, right?

- Yes, of course. / - Yes.

I think she'll be the best wife

after she gets her sickness fixed.

She does well in everything.

He's the closest person I know in Korea

and since he's my children's dad

I also think I should adjust to him.

I see.

He really is the closest person in Korea.

Don't hesitate and call him right away

when it's tough.

I hope he answers my calls.

Please answer her calls.

Kids must be so happy to see their dad.

How about you spend some time with the kids?

Yes, that'd be great.

We'll spend some more time talking with Hana.

Thank you for coming.

Thank you.

I'm actually very moved that he came all the way here.

He still cares about me.

Sometimes I feel very bad because

his life has changed because of me.

- No. / - You don't have to feel sorry.

Your husband kept saying that he feels very sorry

that he couldn't be nicer to you.

You both feel the same way.

Do you think Uzbek men will be nice like him?

I don't think so.

He's Korean that's why he prepared this surprise

to make you feel happy.

There's one last thing I want to ask.

What is your dream, Hana?

There's a university that I've been wanting her to go

since she was young so I want to send her there.

And I want to raise Jimin and Anur very well.

- What university is that? / - What is it?

Harvard University.

She can definitely go there.

She's not an ordinary child.

I think she'll do well and make your dream come true.

Do feel better after talking with us on the show?

I felt great as I could say

all the things that were pent up inside.

If I tell people around me,

everyone is also going through a tough time.

But I feel so much better now.

Right. That's a relief.

- Drop by anytime. / - We'll welcome you.

We'll listen to your stories.

You should take better care of yourself.

Yes, I'm going to get treated for depression

and I should look after myself for my kids.

I will try my best to live a happy life.

- Stay healthy. / - Thank you.

You should go and meet your kids. Let's wrap up.

My Neighbor, Charles. That's it for today.

- Good-bye. / - Good-bye.

1, 2, 3!

Let's take a photo together.

- Good-bye. / - Good-bye!

An Earth-Sized Telescope Just Snapped Two Pictures - Duration: 4:45.

The problem with trying to observe black holes is they're really dark.

They don't release the light from anything they swallow, and anything coming from their

surfaces is way too dim to see.

Also, black holes are so relatively tiny that it would take a telescope as wide as Earth

to even resolve the difference between the edge of the biggest black hole in our galaxy

and the swirling gas around it.

So we've only detected black holes indirectly, based on their gravity.

But soon we might have the first ever direct image of one, thanks to some astronomers with

an Earth-sized telescope.

It's a project called the Event Horizon Telescope, or the EHT.

But it's not like there's a huge, mechanical second Earth floating around in space somewhere.

Instead, it's a network of radio telescopes around the world that act like one virtual telescope.

Eight of these telescopes have spent a little over a week working simultaneously to collect

huge amounts of data.

They looked at the supermassive black hole in the center of our galaxy and the one in

the center of the galaxy M87.

A lot of a telescope's strength comes from its width, so looking at something with telescopes

on opposite ends of the Earth is a lot like looking with a single telescope as wide as

the whole planet.

Except it's a lot easier to build.

The Event Horizon team wants to use these telescopes to see the event horizons of black

holes – the points-of-no-return for anything falling in.

Supermassive black holes are usually surrounded by rapidly orbiting clouds of gas and dust

called accretion disks.

And light from quickly moving objects gets concentrated in the direction they're moving,

so accretion disks are sort of like lighthouses.

They look really bright where gas and dust particles are moving toward us, and dimmer

where they're not.

Researchers also expect to see light from the parts of accretion disks behind black

holes, because the light's path will get bent by the extreme gravity.

Images of black holes could help us learn about things like why M87's black hole has

huge jets of particles coming out while our galaxy's doesn't.

And the shape of the dark parts of black holes, called shadows, will also teach us a lot about

how gravity acts in a regime that we've never tested before.

If the shadows aren't nearly a perfect circle, that could mean there's something wrong

with our current theory of gravity.

Now, the EHT has gathered massive amounts of data over the last week, so it's going

to take a while to analyze it all and hopefully produce an image.

But we could have the first-ever sharp picture of a black hole by sometime in 2018.

This other news is another first that you probably saw some headlines about.

Maybe even some misleading headlines.

A European team of astronomers announced the first detection of an atmosphere on an exoplanet

that's about the same size as Earth in The Astronomical Journal.

Which is exciting!

But detecting an atmosphere doesn't necessarily mean there's life.

Exoplanets are planets orbiting stars other than the Sun, and their atmospheres are incredibly

hard to detect.

One way to do it is looking at how a host star's light passes through the atmosphere

at the very the edge of an exoplanet.

Scientists have been detecting atmospheres around giant, gassy exoplanets for about a

decade, but it took until last year for them to find an atmosphere around what's called

a super-Earth.

Super-Earths are exoplanets more massive than Earth and less massive than a planet like

Uranus or Neptune.

And the first one where we found an atmosphere is called 55 Cancri e.

But even though it's a super-Earth, 55 Cancri e isn't very Earth-like.

It's 8 times more massive, with 18-hour years and surface temperatures of around 2,000

degrees Celsius.

So astronomers have been looking for atmospheres around planets that might be more like Earth.

And this team got a step closer.

GJ 1132 b is about 39 light years away.

It's a super-Earth, but it's only about 40% bigger and 60% more massive than Earth,

so it's closer to Earth's size than Mars is.

According to the team's measurements, it's probably made of similar rocks as Earth, too.

And the researchers think there's a good chance that its atmosphere has lots of water vapor.

But they'll have to collect more data to be sure, since water vapor and methane can

look really similar in these kinds of studies.

Now, even if there is a lot of water vapor in the atmosphere, there aren't any warm

little ponds for life to swim around in.

Because GJ 1132 b is a toasty 320 degrees Celsius.

That doesn't necessarily mean it doesn't have life, but there probably isn't any like here

on Earth.

At the very least, GJ 1132 b is proof that Earth and Venus aren't the only small, rocky

worlds with thick atmospheres out there.

And, who knows, it's probably only a matter of time until we find a long-lost twin.

50 AMAZING Facts to Blow Your Mind! #69 - Duration: 10:04.

- Mhm, you knew this was comin'.

That's what she said.

Here are 50 amazing facts to blow your mind.

Sex has been proven to reduce stress

and reduce a person's blood pressure.

Oxytocin, which counteracts

the stress hormone cortisol's effects, is released

into the body during an orgasm and will help calm nerves.

In 1890 the first vibrator was invented.

It was powered by a hand-crank and looked more like

a kitchen mixer than a sex toy.

However, it was marketed as a way to reduce hysteria

in women.

Today over 61% of women find the idea of buying a sex toy

arousing in and of itself.

A man's orgasm typically lasts six to nine seconds,

while a woman's often lasts over 20 seconds,

while some can actually last for a few minutes.

One in four men have a condition called Peyronie's Disease,

which is when their penis is bent slightly more than normal

when erect.

Many men require surgeries so that they can enjoy

pain-free sex while others are forced to stick

to one position that just feels comfortable.

After their own bedrooms, the most common places

people have sex are the bathtub or shower, in the car,

or one of their child's bedrooms.

20% of all sexually active people between the ages

of 18 and 34 use their smartphone at some point during sex.

Not after, during.

Research has shown that there is little to no

feeling difference for women when having sex with a man

with a penis that is circumcised or uncircumcised.

By the end of your life, odds are you will have spent

over 20,000 minutes kissing.

That's literally two weeks of your life with your lips

locked with someone else's.

Research has shown that the longer a man waits

to have sex again, the lower his sperm count is.

If a man has sex every day, not only will he have

more sperm, but the quality of it will increase,

thus making him more fertile.

During arousal, a person's pain threshold increases

significantly, which allows for more vigorous

and playful sex.

Men are drawn to larger posteriors due to their genetic need

to reproduce.

In other words, a large bum is a sign of fertility

in women.

When a woman has an orgasm, she experiences a decrease

in her amygdala and hippocampus, the parts of her brain

that allow her to feel anxiety and fear.

So she can literally feel less anxious and afraid after sex.

Only 1-10% of semen is sperm, depending on the state

of the man it comes from, but there are over 300 million

sperm in every teaspoon of semen within the average,

healthy human male.

To consume that teaspoon would mean taking in

around one calorie, depending on the source.

Studies show that women have, on average,

four sexual partners in their lifetimes,

while men have seven.

Sexual intercourse occurs on our planet over 100 million

times a day.

Taking the time to cuddle after sex has been proven

to actually increase both parties' overall enjoyment

of the encounter.

One in a thousand men are said to be able

to orally please themselves through sheer flexibility,

no rib removal required.

According to research done in 1996,

there is no noticeable difference in the vagina size

if a woman has or has not given birth.

A survey of both men and women who have used lubricants

while having intercourse revealed that around half of them

have had an easier time achieving orgasm than when

they had sex without it.

There was also a large decrease in infections

due to lubricants reducing heat from friction,

which would otherwise breed bacteria.

The average length of a man's erect penis

is five to seven inches, while the average length

of a flaccid penis is around 3.61 inches.

Dolphins are the only other species that are documented

to have sex just for pleasure and not just for procreation.

According to multiple studies, condoms do not take away

from a woman's pleasure while having sex.

On average, an adult human burns over 200 calories

for every 30 minutes they engage in intercourse.

Depending on the position and how vigorous the sex is,

this number can be a lot bigger.

Nearly 16% of sexually active women claim that they

have never had an orgasm during intercourse,

with many women having actually never had one at all.

Around 25% of sexually active women have had an orgasm

in less than 25% of the times that they've had sex.

It's actually true, in a sense, that redheads have more fun.

Red-headed women have, on average, more sex

and significantly more orgasms than ladies

with any other hair color.

The French call an orgasm la petite mort,

which is in English the little death,

because it's believed that your soul temporarily goes

to another plane after you've given all you have

to the cause and experience joy.

It's been documented that almost 50% of all men

feel that their penis is too small.

A poll taken about women's health and happiness

in March of 2015 revealed that nearly 62% of women

are unsatisfied with their sex lives.

However, 85% of them are fine with their partner's

penis length.

Women in their 20s tend to have only one orgasm

per sexual encounter, while women over the age of 40

are much more likely to have multiple orgasms.

The human female's vagina can expand to nearly twice

its normal size when stimulated.

A study done in 2010 revealed that men who have sex

at least twice a week can actually reduce their risk

of heart disease by nearly 50%.

There is a wig for a person's private area called a merkin,

which was originally worn by prostitutes who had shaved.

Believe it or not, actors have been known to wear them

to conceal their modesty in adult films.

The endorphins released during an orgasm or arousal

bring a feeling that's similar to one you would receive

after taking opioid drugs.

When men turn 70, the party is far from over for them.

Research shows that around 73% of older men

are still potent.

A study done in 2014 showed that when compared to

heterosexual and bisexual women,

lesbians tend to have more orgasms.

Of course, men of any sexual orientation had more

than even lesbians by a decent margin.

One in every five million people are born with a condition

called diphallus, which is when they have two penises.

Rarer still is having the condition, but able

to use both for intercourse, which has only been documented

a handful of times.

A report done in May of 2013 showed that 54%

of the 2346 professionals surveyed had had sex

with a work colleague at least once in their lives.

Crazier still is that 12% of adults have had

a sexual encounter at least once in the workplace.

For a healthy male, ejaculation occurs at an average speed

of 28 miles an hour.

During intense sex, an erect penis can be twisted or crushed

after slipping out, which can burst blood vessels

and cause swelling, effectively breaking the penis.

Human males are the only members of the primate family

that don't have bones in their penises.

Many scientists believe this to be an evolutionary trait.

Every year in the United States, over 1100 people

injure themselves while trying new kinky sex positions.

The most common sex injury was a pulled muscle

with back injuries, carpet burns, and cricked necks,

and the most dangerous spot for sex was also

the most ordinary: the sofa, a chair, or the shower.

Sex toys and vibrators are banned in shops

in the American states of Alabama and Mississippi.

The Attorney General said there is no fundamental right

for a person to buy a device or produce orgasm.

Some residents, such as Cherie Williams from Alabama

said in response "my motto has been they are

going to have to pry this vibrator from my cold, dead hand.

I refuse to give up."

Man, that's dedication.

Studies have shown that people who are into kinkier

sex positions and more willing to be tied up or dominated

during sex are psychologically healthier

than other traditional performers.

Being aroused and having an orgasm can actually boost

your immune system and make you healthier.

Researchers at Wilkes University in Pennsylvania

found that college students who had sex once or twice a week

had higher levels of a certain antibody compared to students

who had sex less often.

Ejaculation occurs outside of the brain.

The process is stimulated by the spinal cord, not the brain.

The animal with the largest recorded functioning penis

on the planet is the blue whale, whose organ is over

10 feet long.

The creature with the largest penis in relation to its body

is the barnacle, which can have a penis that is nearly

40 times the length of its own body.

A female orgasm releases an endorphin into the woman's body

that can actually alleviate pain.

There are proteins inside a man's sperm that can actually

act as a natural skin-tightening agent and moisturizer.

In other words, sperm is highly effective

at treating wrinkles.

Its active ingredients are vitamins B12, C, and E,

and it even contains essential minerals like magnesium,

calcium, zinc, phosphor, and potassium.

There's a popular evolutionary theory among scientists

that suggests that the reason the end of the human male's

penis is mushroom shaped is because it's required to scrape

other men's ejaculate from the female's vagina.

Yes, not the most pleasant fact.

How Meteorites Destroyed the Universe - Duration: 7:41.

this episode has been brought to you by

our super generous supporters on patreon

hello. On almost any clear night if you

look up at this guy long enough you will

see a shooting star most of these are

just grains of dust burning up in the

atmosphere but once in a while a rock big

enough can survive the fall all the way

to the ground this is a meteorite but

for a long time we didn't think it was

possible for rocks to fall from the sky

in fact the idea of rock falling from

the sky went to get everything we

thought about the universe

that is until an

eighteenth-century lawyer proposed a

ridiculous idea that rocks can fall from

the sky and they come from outer space

good stuff producer matt weber tells the

story of Ernst Chladni the man who

destroyed the universe with meteorites

since time immemorial people have been

telling stories of stones that fall

from the sky in great fireballs today

we know these are meteorites but back in

the 18th century just shortly after the

United States became its own country the

idea of rocks falling from the sky was

considered absurd because rocks can't

just fall from the sky right according

to Aristotle one of the most influential

philosophers in human history the earth

was made up of just four elements air

water fire and of course earth the

heavens were made up of an entirely

different matter perfect and unchanging

rocks their native only to the earth

ergo there are no rocks in the heavens

and this concept of the universe

persisted for thousands of years and

according to Sir Isaac Newton one of the

greatest minds of his time space was

empty except for an intangible substance

called aether that allowed light and

gravity to propagate between celestial

objects space was a vacuum devoid of any

matter and nobody in the 18th century

was going to argue with Sir Isaac Newton

so if they even existed outside the

overactive imagination of ignorant

country-folk these falling rocks had to

have come from Earth because postulating

that they came from outer space back

then was a little like claiming flying

saucers are real and visiting Earth

today but a couple ideas were put forth

they could have been rocks shot into the

atmosphere by volcanic eruptions or

gaseous minerals that waft it up from

the ground and accreted in the sky like

hailstones really Antoine Lavoisier the

father of modern chemistry came up with that idea

or they were never in the sky in the

first place since these rock falls were

often accompanied by what eyewitnesses

described as thunder and lightning

scientists of the time theorized that

the melted and scarred rocks found in

association with these fireballs were

just ores disfigured by the intense heat

of a lightning strike all of these

explanations seemed way more reasonable

than rocks coming from outer space but

Ernst Chladni thought otherwise he

wasn't an astronomer he wasn't a

physicist although he made some

pioneering discoveries in acoustics he

was primarily a lawyer he came from a

long line of lawyers but his real

interest was in science and he had a

keen ear for eyewitness testimony he

believed the stories eyewitnesses told

of rocks falling from the sky were

credible because they were too

consistent to be mere fantasies or

outright lies and he believed the

evidence showed that these rocks came

from outer space even though that went

against every known physical law of the

universe at the time rocks from space

meant that the universe wasn't empty and then

Isaac Newton was wrong it also meant the

cosmos weren't unchanged and perfect

which meant Aristotle was wrong and it

suggested that the heavens were made up

of the same corruptible matter as we

were and that was borderline blasphemy

there was such a stigma surrounding

these rock fall many eyewitnesses were

hesitant to come forward afraid of

ridicule and this further stymied

evidence of these rocks extraterrestrial

origin so Chladni had to actively search

out evidence for his universe shattering

theory he researched eyewitnessed events

of what he called "ironfalls" named for

the metallic nature of the rocks found

associated with these incidents he went

to the sites of the supposed ironfalls

and examined the rocks themselves

gathering evidence that corroborated

eyewitness stories it quickly became

clear to Chaldni that not only

were these masses of iron unlike any

rocks on the surrounding area they were

like nothing else on earth so in 1794

Chladni published a book documenting 18

cases of rocks witnessed falling from

the sky and presenting evidence for

their extraterrestrial origin the book

was a flop. Chaldni's theory was disputed

and widely ridiculed. Chladni's biggest

critics argued that his outlandish ideas

not only went against their

understanding of physics at the time it

went against the Bible and religious dogma.

to the vast majority of the science

community it was impossible for

rocks to just rain down out of the sky and

any stories to the contrary were just

that stories devoid of any credibility I

mean who are you going to believe

Aristotle or some yokel who says he saw

stone fall from the heavens?

But the heavens would grant gladney a lucky

break within months of his book being

published to widely reported and highly

documented accounts of rocks falling

from the sky occurred in siena italy a

massive fireball was witnessed by

thousands of people and pieces of rock

could be found all over the area at

first scientists thought the rocks came

from an eruption of Mount Vesuvius but

soon it became clear that the volcano

was too far away and the observed

fireball came from the opposite

direction a year later another fireball

hit England in this case a laborer

actually saw the rock hit the ground

just 30 feet away from where he stood

the stone became famous and it was even

given a monument and researchers noted

strange similarities between the stone

and the stones that fell near siena

italy despite the great distance and

time separating the events a detailed

analysis of these rocks was performed

and it showed that they were unlike any

other rocks ever seen coupled with

numerous eyewitness reports scientists

had to accept that these rocks that come

from somewhere other than earth but it

wasn't until the rock fall at L'Aigle

France that the consensus began to

change in Chladni's favor. Over 3000

rocks fell over the town prompting the

french academy of sciences to initiate

an investigation of the event

spearheaded by Jean-Baptiste Biot.

His thorough and impassioned report helped

establish that meteorites were real and

that they came from outer space finally

vindicating Chladni. Even Chladni's most

constant critics had to accept the

evidence but they weren't happy about it

because having little pieces of rock

floating around in space suggested that

the almighty had somehow left his

creation incomplete and any creator that

leaves his work unfinished cannot be

absolutely flawless the extraterrestrial

origin of meteorites destroyed our

deep-seated belief in an immaculate and

unchanging universe we now know these

space rocks are leftovers from the

beginning of the solar system making

meteorites of the oldest rocks we can

find on earth and while Chladni's ideas

may have shattered long-held

misconceptions about the universe the

study of these ancient rocks gives us a

glimpse into the origin and true nature

of our solar system

and the fact is the universe isn't

perfect it's a messy place follow the

same matter that makes up our imperfect

world and nothing is more incomplete

than our knowledge of it yet with each

shattered rock that falls from the sky

we are able to assemble a more complete

vision of our imperfect and incredible universe

So what do you think was the

universe better when it was perfect do

we still have misconceptions about the

cosmos that will someday have to be

destroyed do you have some insider

Brendan Gallagher meets a 91-year-old fan - Duration: 2:57.

It got tweeted at me last night -- I was just laying around doing nothing -- and I clicked on it,

watched it, and I couldn't stop smiling.

It was something that I thought was pretty cool.

It reminds me of my grandma, you know, her excitement watching at home.

So it was just pretty cool.

My name is Irene Durdon, and I'm a great fan of the Canadiens hockey team.

I've been a fan for quite a few years, of the Canadiens.

The way he plays, and when he gets knocked down, there's still a big smile on his face.

She really enjoys watching the games at home.

And just recently, she started talking about how she'd like to go to a game, see the Canadiens play,

and then it became more of a dream and a wish.

It's something that she really, felt very very excited, and wanted to happen.

She's so excited about it, and seeing expressions on her face, I'm in awe with it.

We got the call, and we were told that there were going to be four seats, and so with the tickets,

there was a little note.

If you'd like to see it, my daughter has the little note, so we want to say to him a thank you as well,

because we really appreciate having this wonderful opportunity.

She has -- her whole apartment is decorated, and I call it the Nan Cave instead of the Man Cave.

She just, she tapes every game, if it's too late.

She watches every game, she calls me to make sure she knows the schedule.

I thought, maybe that the players were kind of untouchable, and to know that he's just,

he's a regular guy, and for him to see that there's a fan so in love with him, that it just,

it blew me away.

I don't know how to put it into words, but it's just really something for a player to actually put that out.

Mum watches how you play, and she just brags about you all the time.

Well I saw the video, and I couldn't stop smiling. It was...

You saw the video?

Yeah, I saw it, it was very cool!

There's nothing better.

Everyone talks, whenever you to talk to, or you hear players being interviewed

and they talk about the Canadiens, it's always about how it's a first-class organization.

And from the moment we stepped into the building, that's what it's been, and to have these seats...

No words could ever express our gratitude for it.

It was nice.

I think my fan zone is usually from 12, 13, 14...

So it was a little bit different, a little unique, but it's definitely cool to have her here.

Yes, there are facts, I'm here to tell you.

[Meet David.]

[Science Curator for TED.]

Unfortunately, the biggest theme or trend in science this year is anti-science.

Simply by having scientist speakers on the program,

we are standing up for science and the scientific method.

[Who are the speakers at this year's TED conference?]

We are going to cover the gamut,

everything from A to Z, astronomy to zoology.

We'll be welcoming Retired Rear Admiral David Titley to the stage

to talk about climate change, in particular in a military context.

We will also be talking with Anne Madden, who is a microbial prospector

looking for solutions to human problems in the microbial realm,

everywhere from your face to your shower head.

Hopefully it won't make people too itchy.

Oh, and then finally, Cathy O'Neil,

she wrote this great book called "Weapons of Math Destruction,"

about how algorithms rule our lives

and how so far they've been used often to ruin our lives --

and then, of course, how we might tweak them

to make them a little more user-friendly.

Study Hard AND Study Smart! - Motivation Video - Duration: 4:22.

Do you know what makes someone successful?

Do you ?

Three things

Three things will make you successful

A continuous interest in improving yourself

Being self-aware

And work

And I mean lots of it

Improve yourself

Improve yourself continously

Never stop developing yourself

Develop a passion for improving yourself

Develop a passion for learning

Improving yourself begins right where you are

Yes, improving yourself starts with an education

Improving yourself starts with school

You did not come to school to slack off

You did not come to fail

Instead you came to learn

To learn how to be great

To be the best leader

To be the best academic, to be the best at whatever you wanna do

Don't let your friends deter you

Don't let friends distract you

Develop yourself

Show them that there is better

Show them that you're different

Improve yourself, study hard, study long, give it your all, give it everything you got

Successful people don't get to where they are by following their friends or pleasing them

Instead they lead, they lead and committed themselves to self-development

They exercise their mind

They learned, they studied, they passed their exams

No body will do it for you

Only you can do it for yourself

Only you can put in the work

If you're not prepared, if you do not work, you will lose

You will never win

You will always be behind

and you will never be great

To be successful at anything

you have to get to know yourself

you have to know who you are

you have to know what your strengths are

you have to know what your weaknesses are

you have to get to know what you like

what you don't like, what you're good at, and what you're not good at

What your learning styles are, where you study best

Learning about yourself will build your confidence

It will change your behaviour

Studying will become easier

Passing your exams will become easier, it will get you places where you've never gone before

Getting to those places and staying there will take determination

it will require that you never give up

Never give up on your dreams

never give up on your goals

life will throw things at you, teachers will throw exams at you

No one promised that life will be easy

What is promised is that you can do it

You can do it

You can win

You can pass your exams

You can be the best, you can achieve your goals

You can become whatever you desire to become

But you have to be determined

You have to want it bad

You have to want it so bad that you will never give up

You have to want it so bad that you're willing to lose sleep for it

You have to want it so bad that you're willing to lose friends over it

You have to want it so bad that you're willing to work hard for it

And never, ever, give up

Giving up is not an option

If you can dream it you can do it, if you can think it you can do it

Just believe in yourself

Believe in your dreams, and fight for it

Tell yourself that you are in it to win it

Tell yourself that you will continue trying

You will continue trying even if you fail

And when you fail, you get up and brush yourself off and try again

You will continue even if you're laughed at

You will continue even if you lose

because guess what

Life is not always about where you end up

It's about the journey

It's about the attitude

It's about the determination

It's about never giving up

Talking To Myself Again - Duration: 3:12.

Hey.

OHMYD -- my bones literally leapt out of my body.

Literally?

My entire skeleton clocked out.

Mm, that didn't happen.

I was just trying to wash my hands, live my life.

But I think you know why I'm here.

No.

No, I don't.

Come on.

Think about it.

I don't know what you're talking about.

I know your thoughts.

I'm you.

Prove it.

Okay fine is this enough proof?

I hate when you do that.

Can we continue?

Alright, so I'm gonna go, have a great day --

Uh uh uh…we didn't talk yet.

You're really good at detective work.

You make it so easy.

What.

You are enough.

What?

I know.

Mm, do you?

I've had enough of this conversation.

You hate sincerity.

You hate talking about your feelings, okay.

You hate admitting you're frustrated, or disappointed, or sad.

You don't know me.

For the last time, I am literally you.

Whatever.

You feel like you don't know what you're doing.

Wow way to be encouraging.

It's okay, I have secret.

Nobody does.

Okay, but look at all of these people doing so well.

I promise you at times they look at other people and think the same thing.

I know.

And I promise you there are people out there who think the same thing about you that you

think about other people.

How is this helping?

I'm just saying, it's all relative.

Okay, Einstein.

Or Sherlock.

Or Holmes.

Whoever is obsessed with relativity.

You done?

Trying is tiring.

Okay, yeah, trying IS tiring, but how many times have you heard the people you look up

to say they were about to give up and then boom, opportunity.

A lot.

Exactly.

So don't even entertain the idea of giving up.

Wait so if I don't entertain the idea of giving up, does that mean you want me to entertain

the idea of continuing to entertain?

No.

I'm confused.

I don't want you to simply entertain the idea.

I just want you to keep doing it.

Okay?

You're doing it now.

I want you to keep doing it.

I mean I wasn't actually going to give up.

I know.

Then why are you doing this?!

You needed it.

I hate when you're right.

Okay, you can go now.

Thank you.

You're welcome.

You.

Guy.

Keep doing it!

OKAY.

Sarah Sze: Designing a Subway Station | Art21 "Exclusive" - Duration: 5:38.

[Sarah Sze: Designing A Subway Station]

A blueprint is traditionally a two-dimensional drawing

that helps you understand three-dimensional space.

As a place of transit,

I wanted all of the different entranceways of the subway station

to mirror how we move through space.

It's this kind of speed of movement--

these transitions into different kinds of environments

that we take for granted and we do repetitively.

It's really an incredible thing to see,

an actual new subway station come from

a core driller to a realization.

The Second Avenue subway extension

is a project that was first thought about in, I think, 1920.

This is a major, major construction project.

So, it's nice to be part of a project

that is so beyond you,

and you're really part of a much larger system.

I've been working on it for almost ten years,

from the application process to now.

I've done a lot of public artwork,

and MTA Arts and Design was incredible.

They completely get behind the artist.

It's a huge number of tiles,

and it's a very technical installation.

There are so many decisions,

so I did feel a kind of pressure.

I'm going to have to see that every day,

and my great grandchildren might see that.

[LAUGHS] You know?

In a kind of very, very permanent way.

[Sarah Sze, "Blueprint for a Landscape"]

--[POLICE OFFICER] It's beautiful!

--[SZE] Thank you so much.

--[POLICE OFFICER] You mind if I just have one picture with you?

--[SZE] Sure, of course!

--[POLICE OFFICER] Come on, do a good job.

--Do a good job, rookie!

[ALL LAUGH]

[SZE] Subway stations are one of the most democratic places that you can find.

You know, you have local,

you have global audiences going through them.

I think it's an important idea that

the city values that experience also as an aesthetic experience.

I was thinking about gravity differently in each entryway or exit.

This was the first one I did.

This has this kind of one-point perspective

speeding down through space.

I was thinking a lot about

the Russian Constructivists,

the Italian Futurists.

You know, they were obsessed with this idea of

the acceleration of the experience of time,

mostly through transit.

For this entryway,

you're literally diving down through

the surface of the pavement and the city--

but to play around with it more in terms of

diving down through a surface,

almost like when you dive into water.

I photographed the environment,

and this is sort of the beginning of Hudson Yards.

I walk along that route to go to my studio.

It was important to me to juxtapose it with a hand mark

so that it didn't feel computer-generated throughout.

One of things that was hard to understand until it was made

was how you would see the stations from this level.

If you came out here and this was your entrance,

they are different enough, so you can really tell

that that's the southwest corner

and this is the northeast corner.

So that is a wayfinding thing.

I wanted vertical landscapes

that you would kind of anticipate having an opportunity to see the detail,

and then you would pass into a moment of emptiness,

and then you'd come back to this density again.

So this is the mezzanine.

And it was really interesting because actually

the mezzanine was added on over the years.

They said, "Okay, we have this opportunity to do the mezzanine."

And I had actually done the three stairs first.

I thought, here's where I can, sort of,

really explain the idea of how things move in space.

Just do something very simple.

One gesture--

a piece of paper--

and then have it mirror, sort of, the way air moves.

Like the gust of wind when a train comes.

As we move, we're pushing the air around us.

When I applied to colleges,

I applied with an essay that was about the fact

that I would always draw people's portraits on the subway.

So now it's kind of great to have drawings on the subway.

NASA PUTS EARTH UP FOR ADOPTION, WILL ALIENS RESPOND - Duration: 3:59.

NASA

PUTS

EARTH

UP

FOR ADOPTION, WILL ALIENS RESPOND?

Is this a bad idea?

In anticipation of Earth Day (April 22) and in an effort to further raise awareness towards

climate change, our favorite space agency has put our planet up for adoption.

Their initiative has split the Earth into 64,000 pieces and everyone is encouraged to

join in on the action and register on their website to get a piece.

Mind you, this adoption is virtual and users will be assigned a random piece with no legal

rights to the specific region.

What you will get is a personalized certificate showing data gathered on the region by one

of NASAs Earth observing satellites.

Each certificate will show information about the carbon monoxide levels, moisture and vegetation

specific to the adopted zone.

Undoubtedly, the alien forces observing the rocky planet we all call home know about this.

Will they respond and hopefully take over?

Because its abundantly obvious humans arent very good tenants.

What is a solar eclipse? - Duration: 2:03.

Here we have a globe. It's roughly about 12 inches

and this is about the

proportional size between the earth and

the moon and one way you can tell the

scale wise that the moon is the width of the United States.

On August 21 Oregon is going to

be able to see the totality which is the

total solar eclipse. What's going to

happen is that if you are the sun what

we'll see is that the moon will

move in between the sun and the earth and

the shadow being about

228,000 miles away,

the shadow from the moon, the umbra, will touch

the face of the earth.

This is it about the approximate distance from the earth to

the moon.

But the catch here is for a total solar eclipse the umbra shadow

which is the darkest part of the shadow

from the moon

is only 62 miles wide so that's the path

of totality. That's what everybody's

trying to strive for is to get to that path on

that day and it's traveling at 3,000 miles

per hour. So, that shadow even though the

totality lasts two minutes but it's

going to only take nine minutes to go

from the coast to the Idaho border or 90

minutes throughout the United States.

People are very excited about this

because this is a really

once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. We haven't

had one of these in Oregon since February 26, 1979.

So, we are expecting 1 million

visitors to come into the state of

Oregon because Oregon is being really

advertised as the best place in terms of

weather and chance for clear sky compared

to the rest of the United States.

That day everybody's going to remember where they were at

that moment

for the rest of their life.

[ INTRO MUSIC : Tops by Lincoln Jesser ]

Alright, that's better. Here we are.

* slurping noise *

So, I'm reading a book called "Daring Greatly." It's by Dr. Brene Brown who...

Goodness, she's incredible. If you don't know who she is, look up her research.

She has Ted Talks, books, anything (um) at all. And I think that all of it is just so incredible.

It looks like this.

It's this book right here. It's about vulnerability and shame and...

Ooooh.

Dr. Brene Brown really just...

She gets to the point and gets me feeling the feels, so I've been thinking a lot about some things.

Mostly about how we stop ourselves from pursuing things even though those are things that we want.

Like, we internalize this thought that we're not good enough.

Um, I know for me personally, like, there have been a lot of time where I'm like:

"Oh, I'm not attractive enough for that person. Like, clearly they're not going to like me, so

why would I even say anything? Why would I risk, you know, being hurt in that way?"

Or "Hmm. I don't... * heavy sigh *

I'm not going to apply for this job even though I know that I'm qualified

because there, there are better applicants.

Like, there's someone better out there than me, so why would I even try to do that?"

For me, I struggle with deciding whether or not to try because I don't want to be hurt.

But, uh, here's the thing.

We continually hurt ourselves when we don't try.

Like, it's a defense mechanism that we think is going to benefit us.

When in reality, it's just, it's just telling us and reinforcing us that we're not good enough.

In those moments, that's when we're most vulnerable.

And I'll be real, like, vulnerability terrifies me.

But, I think it's something that's scary for everyone.

Trying things is how we learn.

Trying is how we move from the "What if?" stage to "What next?"

Holy what.

Wow. I just thought of that and that's actually really brilliant.

And it is okay to be afraid. It's okay to feel that and see that, but

that doesn't necessarily have to stop you from doing something.

Like, tell the person you're crushing on that you like them.

That way, you know, regardless of their answer, you won't be stuck in that really awful like

loop of "What if?" That scenario that just keeps playing over and over in your head.

Because that's definitely never happened for me ever in my life.

That's a lie.

That's, that's happened.

It, it's fine. * laughs *

But you know what I'm saying?

Regardless of what they say, their answer will let you know where they stand.

So you can move forward based off of that.

And if you want a new job, go for it!

Uh, I guess this video is just a reminder that we all struggle with things.

Vulnerability is really hard.

And trying things and putting ourselves out there, that can be really, really hard.

But, in the end, I think it's worth it.

Try and do one thing, just one, uh thing that you're absolutely terrified [of doing.]

That you've been thinking about for a while and just going back and forth on.

That you've been stopping yourself from doing.

Try doing that thing.

It doesn't have to be super huge. It can be pretty small. Whatever.

But try doing that.

And then to keep ourselves accountable, let's, you know, maybe put them down in the comments. * laughs*

Uh, I know that writing something out usually gets me to feel like:

"Ooh. I've said that I'm going to do that thing, so now I'm going to do that thing."

So, uh, yeah. What are you going to try?

Think about it.

And, as always, you are valid.

You are loved.

I hope you all have a wonderful rest of your weekend and I'll see you again on Monday.

Bye.

How to deal with difficult translations - Duration: 3:28.

No matter what language you're learning you're gonna run into phrases that are difficult

to translate.

Because they're very clear and specific in one language, but messy and ambiguous in another

language.

So in this video I'm gonna give you a great resource for dealing with those kinds of confusing

situations.

The examples I'm gonna give you are in spanish, but this will work no matter what language

you're learning.

For example, let's take an english phrase like I love you, and put it into Google Translate.

We can see here that there are two different ways of translating this.

Te amo and Te quiero.

You want to know exactly how to use each of these verbs, because it's going to be very

embarrassing if you use the wrong one in the wrong situation.

And if you think about it, in English we can say, I love my girlfriend, or I love my dog,

or I love God, or I love Star Wars.

We use the same word for all of these relationships even though they're very different.

Did you ever think about how weird it is that we can use the same verb to say I love my

wife as we do for I love cheese?

If you're native English speaker, then you probably never thought about it before, but

if you speak a language that actually makes this distinction then it probably sounds like

insanity to you.

So what do I do in order to avoid saying something really uncomfortable?

I go to this website called wordreference.com.

This is a website that is able to help you with a lot of different languages, not just

the really popular ones.

We're gonna type in Love up here and see what it pulls up.

You see here that there are a ton of different ways to use the english word Love when we're

translating from Spanish.

Some of them are nouns, some of them are verbs.

We're gonna look at the verbs because that's how we use it in the phrase I love you.

We see here that Querer means To feel affection for.

Amar means To have romantic feelings for.

Adorar is To like strongly.

We have some example sentences down here to help us understand these distinctions a little

more clearly.

Hopefully you don't feel romantic feelings for your mother or for basketball, because

if you do, that's really weird.

Maybe these sentences down here will give you a little more clarity and help you understand

exactly what you're saying when you use each of these verbs.

It gets a little bit messy, and sometimes these words can overlap.

But this website is going to give you a good foundational understanding of these ambiguities.

At the very least, you want to be aware of these generalizations.

So the fact that this gives you context and example sentences is way better than any dictionary

that's just gonna give you single word definitions of the word that you're looking up.

So I highly recommend utilizing wordreference.com any time you encounter a word that may or

may not have more than one meaning.

It has been a lifesaver to me in the past.

So that's all I have for this video.

If you're learning a language, go ahead and subscribe to my channel, and you'll get new

videos every week that are going to teach you how to learn that language in a way that

is fast, fun, and easy.

And I also just started a twitter account, so you can follow me at @fingtamlangs.

Which doctor to use? Holistic Chiropractors vs Traditional Chiropractors vs Medical Doctors - Duration: 1:42.

Hello my name is Sten Ekberg. I'm a

holistic chiropractor and a lot of times

people ask what's the difference between

the medical view and chiropractic and

holistic chiropractic. So in simple terms

a medical doctor will explain disease

and say that first you're healthy and

then you get a bug and then you're sick.

And a lot of chiropractors will say

first you're healthy and then you get a

bone out of place and then your sick. But

there's more to it than that because we

want to ask what was it that gave you

the bug, why was your body susceptible to

the bug, or in the chiropractic case why

did you get a bone out of place. Why? What

was it that caused the bone to go out

of place? What is it in the body that

normally keeps the bones in place? So

those are the questions that we ask in

holistic chiropractic. We want to

understand all of the factors that

normally keeps the body functioning, and

we want to trace it back to the source

of the problem and address that. Because

otherwise you're just (using) a band-aid. So

that's how you create long-term health

is with holism. You look at the whole

picture, and you get back to the source

to address all the reasons that the body

is unable to do what it's supposed to do.

So

give us a call (678-638-0898) if you have any more

questions, and we'll be happy to try to

find you an appointment or get your

schedule for a seminar thank you.

Puma (IFV) - German Infantry Fighting Vehicle [Review] - Duration: 3:12.

The new Puma infantry fighting vehicle was jointly developed by Krauss-Maffei Wegmann

and Rheinmetall in Germany to replace the ageing Marder 1 IFVs.

This new infantry fighting vehicle successfully passed numerous trials and tests.

First production Puma IFVs were delivered to the German army in 2015.

About 350 of these machines will be delivered.

Initially it was planned to purchase 405 new IFVs.

However later this number was reduced due to limited funding.

Currently it is the largest German army procurement programe.

The Puma will gradually replace the Marder IFV.

The Puma is the most protected IFV currently available.

It has a welded armor hull with add-on modular armor.

It has an option of three various protection levels to suit operational needs.

Weight of the vehicle vary from 29.4 to 43 tons accordingly to a protection level.

The base model has a front and flank protection against 30-mm rounds, while vehicle has an

all-round protection against 14.5-mm machine gun fire.

The most protected variant can be considered as a heavy IFV.

Additional armor modules can be fitted, increasing Puma's weight to 43 tons.

Furthermore in this configuration it it is even heavier than the T-72 main battle tank.

It seems that the most protected variant of the Puma withstands 120- and 125-mm projectiles

over the front arc.

Vehicle also withstands mine blasts equivalent to 10 kg of TNT.

The Puma IFV also features an advanced threat warning system.

NBC protection and automatic fire suppressions systems are fitted as standard.

Vehicle is armed with a remotely operated weapon station.

It includes a dual-fed Mauser 30-mm cannon.

This cannon is already used on the Austrian Ulan and Spanish Pizarro IFVs.

It has an effective range of fire of 3 km.

The Puma will be armed with an ATGW launcher, however its type is still unknown.

Secondary armament consists of a 5.56-mm machine gun and a 76-mm grenade launcher for a close-range

defense.

The Puma infantry fighting vehicle has a crew of three, while it can accommodate up to eight

infantrymen in the rear compartment.

Passengers enter and leave the vehicle via rear power-operated ramp.

Vehicle is fitted with an air conditioning.

Vehicle is powered by MTU 892 turbocharged diesel engine, developing a whooping 1 073

horsepower.

It is worth mentioning that some of the latest main battle tanks haven't got that much power.

This IFV is not amphibious.

Length: 7.6 m Width: 3.9 m (uparmored)

Height: 3.6 m

Speed 70 km/h

Unit cost: $7 million

[ INTRO MUSIC : Tops by Lincoln Jesser ]

Alright, that's better. Here we are.

* slurping noise *

Bye.

The DOWNSIDE Of Losing Weight - Downside Of Weight Loss - Duration: 6:16.

hey what's going on this is Alek with

change your life diet.com today i want to

talk to you about the downside of

losing weight now don't get me wrong

losing weight is awesome but I just want

to talk to you about like what are some

of the negative effects of it sometimes

now I'm just here I'm on location one of

my favorite spots to just come out and

have a little peace and quiet um so uh

you know I was fat for a long time

before our lost weight and um when you

finally do lose weight you know it's

awesome but then you know after a while

you know the novelty wears off and it is

still like a struggle to to maintain

your weight loss so um you know you kind

of have to continually you know be on

schedule and you know actively think

about what you're going to do to

maintain your weight loss you can't just

give up on it and go back to how things

used to be so um you know like it's like

the saying you know it can the ignorance

is bliss it's like being fat is bliss to

just being able to pick out all the time

whenever you want just because it's so

enjoyable to eat all the time um so this

happens to me sometimes you know you're

kind of you're kind of screwed once you

lose a lot of weight because a guy like

me a normal weight for me would be a

much much higher like a normal natural

weight for a guy like me in the society

we live in where there's all this food

available all the time I'll I'll be 50

60 70 pounds heavier right now and I I

mean I be enjoying life I just be eaten

all the time but you know it's not

healthy for you but the point I'm trying

to say is after you know I didn't leave

for like seven eight years right now and

the novelty is kind of wearing off and

there are times

in my life you know you get stressed out

you have a tough day you know I have

kids it's not easy with kids you know

and sometimes it's just like I wish I

could just stuff my face you know

because you know some people like you

know some people smoke drink for you

know to take the edge off I don't really

drink I'm gonna smoke you know some

people and all friend of mine he he you

know he takes like cognac or something

or like hard you know they get into like

hard hard alcohol or something when

people get all the right that just not

not my not my thing but um I would

totally just like pig out on doughnuts

at midnight because I'm stressed and I'm

upset I've had a bad day so many times I

get into that situation where I would

just love to do that just because it

tastes so good but um falling down over

here but um you know I've been there and

I know that it's not um it's not you

know it's not gonna it's gonna bite me

in the ass later on so I just don't do

it I'm pretty disciplined about my uh my

technique and I've stuck to it for so

long but the point is yeah you're kind

of screwed after a while because I can't

go back and I know I know how bad it is

you know to be fat how much it sucks but

after you've been lean for so long um

you kind of much sometimes you know when

your stress that you which a man I wish

I could change it shit I just like

contemplate getting fat again like I

seriously have that um that thought a

bunch of times like it would just be so

much blood more pleasurable if I could

just eat all the time and get fat and

you know it over the hell I want um I

mean when I was heavier I you see ice

cream all the time like I had I would

have this like stash of ice cream hidden

all over the you know hidden in the back

of the fridge it were why the kids you

know wouldn't find it so

yeah that was like so pleasurable just

like eating ice cream all the time now I

know better you know I mean I still

think that sneak some ice cream in when

when it's right for my when it fits into

my my plan and you know there are always

you could do that where you can state

lean and you know you could still have

you know not deny yourself I don't laugh

but um you know there are times where

you're so stressed out and you're so you

know you know we've had a bad day you

just wish you could just you know like

you should just give up and and go back

to being fat you know so I know I'm

still mulling it over let me know what

you think anyway just a quick video

again if you haven't done so subscribe

if you haven't done so leave me your

comments or questions and don't forget

to click on the like button and if you

want to check out my diet plan go to my

website change your life dicom thanks to

talk to you guys soon right so one other

thing I forgot to mention with this diet

plan of mine um you know you can and you

will lose a lot of weight so for a guy

like me I am um I'm like unnaturally

lean right now I'm leaner than I I

wouldn't normally be just by going out

and about in society and eating all the

stuff out there so this kind of gets you

like unnaturally lean so I've been

unnaturally lean for a while so it's

just kind of like something you have to

maintain you act actively have to make

can you can't just forget about it so

that's kind of my point um you know if

you're overweight this will get you lean

beyond what you've ever thought possible

but the point is like there is a

downside you're gonna have to stick to

it from the rest of your life so of

course there are a lot of benefits but

you know the point of this thing was

like you know maybe after a while you

get tired of it and you think maybe you

know you know throws in towel and just

get fat again but anyway that's all I

had to say

So thanks for watching my video, and we'll see you guys next time.
