[♪INTRO]

The blue whale is the largest animal that's ever existed—heavier than even the biggest

of the dinosaurs.

But scientists have debated why whales are so huge for a long time.

The prevailing idea is that if you live in water, buoyancy allows you to get bigger than

if you lived on land.

But it might not be quite that simple.

Marine mammals may actually have more constraints on their body size than land mammals—and

scientists now think they have to be big to conserve energy.

Land mammals have slipped back into the water four separate times.

Whales evolved from ancient hippo-like mammals; seals from a dog-like ancestor.

Manatees and dugongs are a branch of the elephant family tree, and sea otters are basically

just really big weasels.

And until 2018, most scientists thought that their buoyancy in water gave marine mammals

the freedom to grow larger, because it kind of literally lifted the weight from their skeletons.

But when researchers looked for patterns of change in body size in almost 4,000 living

and 3,000 fossil mammals, they found something more complicated.

In 3 out of the 4 marine mammal groups—whales, seals, and manatees—species converged on

the same size: an average of around 500 kg or 1100 pounds.

And when they tested various hypotheses to explain that, they found while buoyancy might

allow marine mammals to get big, it's not the reason they grow.

That probably has more to do with keeping warm.

Ocean waters are colder than most mammals' ideal body temperature, and water is better

than air at conducting heat away from you.

Since larger and rounder bodies have less surface area in relation to their volume,

they lose heat less rapidly even in chilly seas.

You'd think that means marine mammals could just keep growing bigger and bigger, but the

researchers found that if they get too big, there's no way they could eat enough to

feed all those cells.

500 kg seems to be just the right size to stay warm but still be able to eat enough

to maintain a huge body.

But there are outliers.

Baleen whales like blue whales managed to hack the equation a bit when they developed

those fibrous baleen bristles, because filter feeding is a very efficient way to get lots

of calories while spending very little energy.

And sea otters were the oddball that didn't converge on that 500kg size.

They're bigger than their weasel ancestors, but not as big as other marine mammals.

That might be because there's something special about weasels and their relatives

that limits their size, or allows them to stay trim.

Or, it's possible sea otters are still growing, and that milennia from now, they'll be huge.

Wait—would sea otters the size of polar bears still be ridiculously cute, or utterly

terrifying?

I'm going with terrifying.

Anyhow, the findings have got scientists rethinking what they thought they knew about the life

in the seas.

And they just go to show that if you keep asking good questions, you might find the

answers aren't as simple as you thought—but they're also much cooler.

These families adopted puppies before even meeting them then the heartwarming moment arrived

Sadly nine out of ten dogs in the United States will never find a forever home

even worse millions of animals are euthanized each year a

Statistic that makes animal adoption all the more vital those who offer a loving home to a neglected or unwanted pooch then should be proud

like these heroic Michigan families, for example

all of whom committed to adopting some puppies before they've even met little wonder they were so excited when the special day finally arrived the

Family members were sent side by side

Eerily, awaiting to open their bright yellow envelope each contained a number which correspond to the order in which the families would meet the puppies

None of those present had actually seen the pups of the flesh before

In fact, the would-be adopters had only ever seen a video of the animals

But the video had certainly made a deep impression containing as it did harrowing footage of puppies being rescued from a terrible ordeal

You see the 11 puppies had been stuck outside with their stray mother during some terrible weather in Detroit

Michigan looking for shelter the mama dog had tunneled the hole into someone's yard

But unfortunately her brood ended up getting trapped inside and with local flash flood warnings in place

The money pit was the last place. They wanted to be the dogs were wet scared and terribly confined

the mama pooch is rayna a gorgeous German Shepherd and

Thankfully for her and her litter a neighbor had heard the dogs frantic cries from the hall

The man then called the Michigan Humane Society a nonprofit organization

dedicated to helping animals by rescuing them and

organizing adoptions and

When the two staff from the society arrived the severity of the situation soon became apparent

The pups mom was loose and nowhere to be seen while her petrified litter cowered in the hole

But with the clock ticking and heavy rain forecast the two workers knew they had to act fast

So they set a trap for Raina while they worked out how to get the pops out of the hole

Ignoring the atrocious conditions. The rescuers were knuckled down to the task in hand and the dramatic scenes were all streamed live on the

Michigan Humane Society's Facebook page the rescue involved one of the volunteers Chris

Lying on the sodden ground and reaching his arms deep inside the hole

Then one by one Chris grasped three of the helpless pups and handed them to his colleague Pam

with the rest of the brood hunkering deeper underground

Chris was forced to use a spade to dig out some of the soil

He and Pam also placed dog food at the dens entrance in an effort to tempt the pups outside

the video captures the moment each pup, finally emerges from the hole and while each was as adorable as the last

Understandably, the pooches looked a bit disheveled with many shivering and whimpering and fear

Amazingly given the severity of the weather all the pups and their momma survived

The hounds were taken to the MHS shelter where they were vaccinated and checked over

but then the rescuers faced their second big challenge finding each of the dogs a loving home and

That's when the Michigan Humane Society conjured up an exciting plan for the dogs adoptions

using the dramatic footage of the rescue

They gave members of the public a chance to adopt the pups

Before actually seeing them in the flesh and their idea worked like a treat

Many of the people who had followed the rescue online applied for a chance to adopt one of the pooches

Then when the dogs had fully recovered the chosen families were invited to an adoption ceremony

That's where the animal lovers met the CEO of the Michigan Humane Society Matt pepper

Pepper welcomed his visitors warmly and shared some jokes before they brought out the pups

Feel like I should be telling you all to reach under your seats and find an envelope like the Oprah Winfrey of puppies pepper joked

You get a puppy you get a puppy everyone gets a puppy

But instead of giving the dogs out at random the Society chose a more structured approach a woman

Counted down from 3 and then each of the families open up their envelopes which revealed the order in which they could meet the puppies

Following their interaction the families could then choose the pup they wanted

Naturally the adopters were overjoyed and there were smiles all around as they took turns to meet the puppies for the first time some family

Members were even reduced to tears as they held the cute little bundles of fur

Meanwhile, each family was faced with the same difficult decision. Which pup should they take home?

They were all so adorable. It was hard to choose said one adopter Christine

She eventually chose to adopt cloud a sweet pup who - Christine appeared more laid-back than her brothers and sisters

She wasn't one of the ones who was running around crazy. She laughed

Steven Ella and Diana meanwhile picked sky one of the black puppies. She was super fun great personality

Plus, she's black and my wife wears black to work every day. Steven smiled. It's kind of a priority in the household

Then Callie and Ryan adopted Radin

they'd found out about the pooches plight after Kelly's mom sent her the Facebook video of the dogs rescue and

The couple were keen to share their new space with a canine companion

We've just bought a new house and we thought this was a great time Ryan explained as Radin showered Kelly with licks

For what happened to the mother? Well, she was adopted too

In fact, the lovely Reina was picked by Matt and Erica

We're excited said meant she was everything we wanted we got to meet her and we loved her ever since

Amazingly every dog that Chris and Pam rescued went to a loving home, which is a fitting tribute to the rescue

Pair's valiant efforts like Chris and Pam workers from the Michigan Humane Society go out every day to save animals from similar circumstances

But pepper said that their noble actions only have a purpose when adopters step forward

So people like these dog loving families are making a huge difference

This story has had incredible reach sent pepper on one media outlet the story reached 11 million people others

Of course followed events of the Society's own Facebook page where users were overjoyed with the adoption story

Some of the adopters themselves even uploaded photos of their rescued pooches

Reina enter pups rescue is an inspiring an uplifting story that will hopefully encourage more people to adopt

The beautiful German Shepherds are among the lucky ones, but there are still many more strays out there waiting

community were really angry about this and for good reason with the current

situation of the Mars Argo lawsuit and the abuse that allegedly went on by

Titanic Sinclair it does seem like she's playing out a part and making fun of the

abuse allegations and this is no doubt an abuse video why would she do this

it is not very becoming of anyone I believe to do this but I'd rather know

what you thought so comment this section below number one your thoughts on that

make sure he's number one number two in my last video the Josh Branch cheated on

papi and the bizarre conversation of Titanic Sinclair discovered there was a

girl and she claimed that inappropriate things went on between her and Titanic

Sinclair I was sent these messages from someone else who I can't name and then

when I went to confirm with the with the young woman if this was her and this was

true she did confirm and then she went into a queue a collaborative effort of a

Q&A that wanted me to do on my next video so she

asked me if she could release a statement on the channel and then I said

I'm gonna have to go to bed and think on it I'll get back to you in the morning

or something along those lines and when I woke up in the morning the girl that I

was talking to about this for whatever reason had told discord that both

discord servers the cult of Mars Argo and the we are property discord servers

that basically slanderous lies that even though Titanic Sinclair might have

probably possibly allegedly been talking to her while she was a minor she told

other people that I was talking to some other girl that was a minor which was

completely mind blowing on top of it she said that I was I doxxed her and

released her personal information not cool because I didn't do that and then

upon looking further the discord servers both banned me for that and then when I

confronted the girl about it and said that if she did not tell the the cult of

Mars log Instagram who released a horrible slanderous thread about how

reptiles bad and everybody should unsubscribe I told her if she did not

fix this then I would release the full conversation and show everybody that

she's a liar and then so she did fix it she did go to the cult of Mars Largo

Instagram which turned out to be not even the cult of Mars Largo Instagram it

was just a fake and then it was a whole bunch of stuff so in a collaborative

effort oh that was working with her and it was very nice I asked her she was

cool she was stoked can't wait she was all like I can't wait for the community

to see this I decided not to work with her as I don't even know if her

accusations of Titanic Sinclair talking to her were even true no idea and the

way that she's acting I don't know if I could take her word as a valuable source

even though the things that she was saying and the evidence that she was

sending me was definitely of and from Titanic's and Claire but she I guess she

got scared or whatever I don't have no idea but she did not want me to release

that content and I believe that content of these of some horrible nasty things

that she said titanic's and Claire had done I believe would've overall helped

the Mars agro lawsuit sadly out of respect of her even though she slandered

my name behind my back out of respect for her I told her that I would not

release those things it sucks because that content I believe would have helped

the lawsuit that's number two so comment it number two first and then comment

what you think about that and number three not really so much as a

drama but it's really cool I don't let me go get it

The Untold Truth Of Lil Xan - Duration: 4:39.

Lil Xan has developed a winning formula by creating emotional songs in which he mumbles

his way through bass-heavy beats while proclaiming his love for drugs.

The "Wake Up" lyricist turned his young adult angst into a bustling rap career, complete

with a chart-topping debut album and legions of fans who are enchanted by his moody music.

The rapper's rags-to-riches life story is one to be admired, but his foot-in-mouth syndrome

during candid interviews has at times caused him to make headlines for the wrong reasons.

Whether or not you're a fan of the SoundCloud wave of music, there's no denying that Lil

Xan is a formidable force to be reckoned with.

Let's dive into the untold truth of Lil Xan.

So long, high school

You may think it's easy to pass gym class, but for Lil Xan, P.E. was just one of many

failed classes.

In fact, according to Billboard, he failed all of his high school courses, as he preferred

to doodle and play video games instead of doing his homework.

"I got a F in P.E. and they're like, 'How the fuck you fail P.E., that s--- easy, bro.'

I'm a lazy son of a bitch.

So I failed every class up until I dropped out freshman year."

Being cooped up in a classroom just wasn't his style.

"I just cannot sit down for seven hours a day and listen to some old bitch just talk

about s--- I ain't ever gonna need."

Road to rap

Long before his January 2018 surge to the number 5 spot on Billboard's Emerging Artists

chart, Lil Xan was making ends meet with a series of odd jobs, including gigs as a street

sweeper and freelance photographer.

While speaking to DJ Smallz, the rapper revealed that after his camera was stolen, he decided

to experiment with rap music because all of his friends were rappers.

"So I was like, well how much is it to record at your guys' studio?

And they were like, just shoot him 20 dollars and we'll mix your stuff down."

Lil Xan went on to thank whoever stole his camera.

"If they had not stolen that camera, I would not be living my dream today, because I would've

never started rapping."

Forbidden face tattoos

When Lil Xan first decided to join the ink club, he chose to go with the most noticeable

spot on his body.

His mother's name, "Candy," is tattooed right underneath his eye.

"I wanted a face tattoo, and I was like, my mom's gonna kill me, but if it's her name

she might not."

Since then, he's added multiple tattoos all over his body, but his face is now off-limits.

"The face, my manager has said, I can't get anymore.

He says we gotta keep the face intact."

Anti-drug movement

One of his most popular songs, "Betrayed," pays tribute to the anti-anxiety medication,

Xanax.

He told Billboard in a January 2018 interview that he was actually on the drug during the

recording session for the track, and that was the very last time he used it.

One of the reasons he decided to give up the prescription medication for good was the passing

of his friend and fellow rapper, Lil Peep, who overdosed.

He told Pigeons and Planes,

"There are still rappers that are doing what they're doing.

And they're gonna do what they're gonna do regardless, but it hit too close to home.

[...] It was definitely a wake-up call and a reminder that this s--- is real."

"Banned"

During an interview with Revolt TV, Lil Xan was asked to rate hip-hop legend Tupac Shakur

on a scale of one to ten, and he gave the rapper a "two."

"Boring music."

He subsequently opened up the floodgates for some pretty harsh criticism, and in March

2018, Waka Flocka Flame tweeted, "LiL Xan banned from hip hop."

In the weeks that followed, Lil Xan found out that taking shots at a hip-hop pioneer

was a big no-no.

While visiting a fast food chain in his hometown, he was surrounded by an angry mob who took

offense to his Shakur diss.

According to TMZ, Lil Xan had to run to a nearby YMCA where a police officer rescued

him and escorted him safely to his car.

The backlash caused the rapper to declare he was "done doing interviews" in a tweet,

but he did attempt to right his wrongs by playing Shakur's song "California Love" during

one of his concerts.

Farewell, Lil Xan

Since his days of popping Xanax are behind him, Lil Xan may be in need of a name change.

The woozy lyricist has been toying around with shelving his drug-inspired moniker to

set a positive example for his fans.

Lil Xan told TMZ in January 2018 that he was looking into changing his rap name to "Diego,"

his legal first name.

"But for right now, we gon' stay Lil Xan.

Later down the road, I'll change it to Diego."

A few days before the release of his debut album, Total Xanarchy, the rapper tweeted,

in part, "This is the last project dropping under the name Lil Xan."

Diego may not be as catchy, but he definitely gets props for leaving the drug reference

in the dust.

this and bring it over to the driveway because the hose doesn't reach so let's

bring it over here right in the center of the driveway ready to go

okay okay ready 31 probably probably go swim maybe he goes scuba diving in here

oh yeah on the pond see if there's any very treasure under there million are

playing having fun they're so happy because it's so nice up aren't you oh oh

whoa they're like what is all that she's so excited

baby she's actually like four and a half months old right now she's still just a

up and then we'll come back out here in an hour and see if Milly can swim yeah

but if she can't swim then we'll just have to teach her how to do like doggy

her okay I am in my summer outfit and we have baby Milly here there she is

oh look so we waited about an hour to let the water warm up so I think it's

ready I think we're ready to do this we were ready to teach Milly little baby

Milly kind of so exciting okay this finally time to see if Milly will go in

and see if she knows how to swim

Lily's first swim is such a success and she's been so good in the water I think

she really likes it and otters been helping out so much this so cute I told

#respect #gratitude," he shared on Instagram with his son Matthew Lowe.

"Dinner for new friends at our house."

Southern California firefighters were served pasta, cheeseburgers, salad and more before

heading outdoors again to battle the blaze that has torched more than 270,000 acres.

The natural disaster also caused thousands of residents to evacuate including Ellen DeGeneres,

Oprah Winfrey and Katy Perry's family.

As for Rob and his crew, they found their home in danger Saturday when flames arrived

near their backyard.

In an Instagram shot, Rob shared just how close the flames got to his residence."Our

house aprox 7:30 am today.

Pray for Santa Barbara," he wrote to his followers.

"Helping earlier today.

You do what you can, but when it's time.. you GO."

And last Thursday, the actor had a close call when sharing fire updates on Twitter.

"Water drop helicopters overhead, so close they are shaking our house," he explained.

"These are brave, true heroes."

As of press time, Ventura County Fire Department says the Thomas Fire has reached a 45 percent

perimeter containment.

For those hoping to help, the United Way of Ventura County has partnered with the American

Red Cross of Ventura County and the Ventura County Sheriff's Office of Emergency Services

to create a fund to help fire victims.

It's truly refreshing to see actors going out of their way to help, rather than just

complain and criticize the president who also does a lot for victims of natural disasters.

If the liberals in Hollywood feel that there's too much divisiveness in our country under

Trump, then why don't they get out and do something about it?

The real issue is they would rather perpetuate hate and the problems in this country than

be put out of their way to think outside themselves.

Lowe is a shining example of the good that can be done with the fortuned earned in Tinsel

Town and his public platform.

At a time when all we hear about is sexual allegations slander of our president, it's

nice to get good news of what those who are truly deserving of attention are doing for

others.

us from different directions we're seeing lights in the woods just behind

that tree it was quite tall as well just sort of darted across the trees

saw your head and then behind you I saw another head move like away from you

Right so were off on another investigation this time we're heading to Lincolnshire to investigate the haunting

of the lady in black of Bradley woods what do you think about the location

David after reading a bit about it online? I've done some research on the Bradley woods

and apparently the black lady there's four

different stories concerning this lady why she roams the woods but we really

want to find out why she's there

and what it's all about. So I'm looking forward to it

normally come here but I usually go a little bit further on been here like say

just the other night I think about two nights ago I was a bit further up there

the main where we parked the cars and I thought I saw this tall dark shadow

moving along the trees so we decided to call it a night and I think we lasted about 20 minutes in

there that night so it's a very exciting wood to be in and to be with you guys

it's spot-on looking forward to it gonna switch this on now you'll be able to

figure it's been walking over in this area and that's where we're hearing the

really creepy. Like I say. It seems to be like coming from all different

studies suggest that octopuses today are editing their RNA

to adapt to temperature changes in their environment.

RNA is sort of like DNA editing,

but in some ways even better.

you take one letter you place it with another.

from DNA editing is the long-term effects.

Your DNA for instance is identical in each one

There is now an Improvement Code Casper For the Ethereum Network

A new version of Casper, a code upgrade for the Ethereum network that aims to improve

the economic consensus protocol, was released this week on Github.

With such powerful forces working against these 'sanction-coins'.

Welcome to DeballTech, The channel wher we unbox interesting gadgets and technology

today we have something that's really cool

i bought a new monitor, it's an LG 29UB67

that i find to be really cool

now what's good with this display is that it has a resolution of 2560 by 1080

which means that it gives us a really wide screen

it's really good for gaming and video editing

and also for color correction

because it has 99% RGB which means that the colors are as real as possible

It is also an IPS display which is what gives us this superior quality

now we can find it in this resolution but also in UltraHD

now as you can see on this resolution, which doesn't show very well on camera, but it looks really sharp and good

there are no reflexions on the display

To play games it's really good , i play many games but for example on need for speed

we see the street really wide we have a very wide field of view

another really good option on it is the Dual Link Up

Which means that i can hookup 2 computers on the display

and we have to install the software that comes with the display

it will link both computers and that's really cool because

you cane use one mouse and one keyboard on the same screen

now you can also split the screen in 4

some people might need something like that

and also it is able to be positioned in many different angles

you can go up and down

and we can also put it in vertical mode

to put data and stuff like that

basically i was trying to find a monitor that wasn't too expensive

that has everything i need

so i went on amazon to buy this one that they put under renewed

actually its not renewed, it's brand new but it has an impact up here

there is a huge impact here on the plastic , i don't really care because it doesnt affect the display

i bought it for half the price , which is good

because we can find stuff like that, i went on amazon looking everyday for a week until i found this one

we can see on the box, the impact was pretty big

but really doesn't make any difference, i've been using it for 3 weeks

and there are no problems, it's really good

now we will see in the future, but i dont think it's gonna stop working

it's not like it took water, or had internal damage and was fixed

but i like buying stuff like that for half the price, why not

why pay the full price if we can get it for half

now for gaming it's really good

now it's not 4k but the quality is really good for this resolution

you can't see the pixels and you dont feel like its a stretched image

no it works perfectly fine to its full potential, i connected it to the Alienware

but i use it with my big PC with a huge graphic card , and the quality is amazing

now here it is turned off, it's really cool because there are no bevels

now when it is turned on it does have a black bevel

and when it is off, it has no plastic bevel, and makes it look really good

we don't all have a huge budget to buy a big display

this is an Ultra wide which makes the difference with basic displays

we can play games, and have a wide view

we can edit videos on it, because we can split the screen

Why Are Marine Mammals So Big? - Duration: 3:21.

[♪INTRO]

The blue whale is the largest animal that's ever existed—heavier than even the biggest

of the dinosaurs.

But scientists have debated why whales are so huge for a long time.

The prevailing idea is that if you live in water, buoyancy allows you to get bigger than

if you lived on land.

But it might not be quite that simple.

Marine mammals may actually have more constraints on their body size than land mammals—and

scientists now think they have to be big to conserve energy.

Land mammals have slipped back into the water four separate times.

Whales evolved from ancient hippo-like mammals; seals from a dog-like ancestor.

Manatees and dugongs are a branch of the elephant family tree, and sea otters are basically

just really big weasels.

And until 2018, most scientists thought that their buoyancy in water gave marine mammals

the freedom to grow larger, because it kind of literally lifted the weight from their skeletons.

But when researchers looked for patterns of change in body size in almost 4,000 living

and 3,000 fossil mammals, they found something more complicated.

In 3 out of the 4 marine mammal groups—whales, seals, and manatees—species converged on

the same size: an average of around 500 kg or 1100 pounds.

And when they tested various hypotheses to explain that, they found while buoyancy might

allow marine mammals to get big, it's not the reason they grow.

That probably has more to do with keeping warm.

Ocean waters are colder than most mammals' ideal body temperature, and water is better

than air at conducting heat away from you.

Since larger and rounder bodies have less surface area in relation to their volume,

they lose heat less rapidly even in chilly seas.

You'd think that means marine mammals could just keep growing bigger and bigger, but the

researchers found that if they get too big, there's no way they could eat enough to

feed all those cells.

500 kg seems to be just the right size to stay warm but still be able to eat enough

to maintain a huge body.

But there are outliers.

Baleen whales like blue whales managed to hack the equation a bit when they developed

those fibrous baleen bristles, because filter feeding is a very efficient way to get lots

of calories while spending very little energy.

And sea otters were the oddball that didn't converge on that 500kg size.

They're bigger than their weasel ancestors, but not as big as other marine mammals.

That might be because there's something special about weasels and their relatives

that limits their size, or allows them to stay trim.

Or, it's possible sea otters are still growing, and that milennia from now, they'll be huge.

Wait—would sea otters the size of polar bears still be ridiculously cute, or utterly

terrifying?

I'm going with terrifying.

Anyhow, the findings have got scientists rethinking what they thought they knew about the life

in the seas.

And they just go to show that if you keep asking good questions, you might find the

answers aren't as simple as you thought—but they're also much cooler.

Cycling Road Race Brings Epic Finale In Tokyo 1964 | The Olympics On The Record - Duration: 5:50.

It's not about how you start, but how you finish.

The finish line is all that matters

and finishing well can mean the difference between gold

and going home with nothing

and there's no event where this is more evident

than road race cycling.

This is a competition where, typically,

over 100 of the fittest athletes on the planet

wearing the tightest shorts imaginable

battle it out for around four-and-a-half hours,

covering over 150km,

but the result is usually only decided in the final metre.

All those hours on the road, all those months of training,

are all about that last chaotic sprint.

In Tokyo in 1964, this was taken to unbelievable extremes

and the tightest finish you're ever likely to see.

Being an amateur event, the peloton contained a random mix

of local heroes and future stars,

including several who would go on to earn

the highest accolade in cycling -

a nickname.

Felice Grimondi of Italy, "the Phoenix",

Walter Godefroot of Belgium, "the Bulldog of Flanders",

and best-known of all, Belgium's Eddie Merckx,

known as "the Cannibal".

Still an amateur in 1964

and not much known outside of Belgium,

Merckx would go on to be the greatest road racer

in cycling history.

With cycling, it's easy to get caught up in the speed,

the power and the Lycra.

It's important to remember, though,

that each rider is in the midst

of not only a physical battle, but a mental one as well.

Tactics, you see, are key.

Throughout the bulk of the race, riders preserve energy by

cycling in the slipstream of

the riders just in front of them.

They take it in turns.

It's the etiquette of the peloton -

that's the name for the main body of cyclists.

But then, as the race nears its later stages,

someone picks their moment

and goes for it, leading a breakaway.

- Is it my turn? - Not yet.

Etiquette, Jan, etiquette.

Once they've broken away,

this group will battle amongst themselves until the finish.

But the group in Tokyo was rather large.

In fact, so large it had to be seen to be believed.

Why was Tokyo so different?

Well, it was a combination of unusual design and bad weather.

A typical top-level road racing course

features a number of climbs

of varying degrees of difficulty

that riders must deal with.

It's these hills, the extra strain they put on the riders

and the change in pace they demand,

that help create the separation.

An alpine road race might include two climbs

of 1,000 metres each.

The Tokyo course, however,

featured just one short climb of 65 metres.

Not the sort of course that strikes fear

into elite cyclists.

The competitors would have to complete

eight laps of this course

on the outskirts of Tokyo,

making the race just short of 195km.

That might sound a daunting distance to you,

but you are a mere human.

These racers are machines.

Much of the race took place in heavy rain,

a very effective deterrent

to stifling ambitious breakaways.

No matter how professional you are,

coming off your bike still hurts

and you still want your mum to make it better.

Still, at various stages,

different racers did attempt to go out on their own.

The trouble is that breakaways rarely work.

The riders put in a hard shift,

then get sucked back into the mix.

The peloton is already going at around 41kmph,

so to try to leave them behind,

you've got to really put your foot on the gas.

Get your timing wrong and you won't have the legs.

A bad breakaway attempt can be enough

to end any chance of a medal.

So, with no successful breakaways,

the peloton was still intact

when they came to the closing stages

and caution had crept in.

Over 100 of the world's top cyclists

seemingly out on a pleasure ride,

nobody prepared to take a gamble.

It would remain so until

just a few hundred metres from the finish line.

Then there was only one thing they could do - sprint.

Heads down and pedalling as hard as they could,

99 cyclists were inseparable.

But with just 20 metres to go,

Italy's Mario Zanin

and the Dane Kjell Rodian pulled slightly ahead...

..the Italian just edging the race

by less than 100th of a second.

The gap between Zanin in first

and Iran's Sayed Esmail Hosseini, classified 99th,

was two-tenths of a second.

Merckx finished 12th - the man who won everything,

except Olympic gold.

This was Zanin's moment.

The Italian won just one other stage race

over the rest of his career.

He never earned the accolade of a proper nickname,

but we think "Olympic gold medallist" will do very nicely.

Hey guys and welcome back to my channel

my name is Thomas if you're brand new here

and I make style and hair related videos

every single week here on YouTube.

And in today's video we're gonna be talking a little bit

about hairfall, how much is normal,

and I am literally going to be counting

how much hairfall I got from my last shower.

So if hairfall is something that you

experience in the shower

which I'm absolutely sure you probably have at some point

and you want to know how many hairs are in this bag

then I would keep watching okay.

Just before I kick this video off as well

I don't want to like act like I'm some PhD doctor.

Everything that I'm gonna be talking in this video about

is just pretty much research that I've done online.

I've been doing hair videos for a long time

so I'm definitely interested in the topic.

Essentially my version of this in layman's terms,

hairfall is pretty much just shedding.

Obviously you've got hair loss

which is from multiple different things

that could happen inside your body,

but hair shedding or hairfall is actually so normal.

Like when you're washing your hair,

I'm sure you can relate to this when you're washing

your hair, hairs come out and we've

probably all thought as well, oh my god I'm going bald.

Right I've don't that a lot.

But the cool thing is I've found this blog, right?

And I found it really really helpful.

And I kind of was wondering A, how much hairfall is normal,

and B why the freaking hell does it happen, right?

It says that each hair follicle undergoes

a growth stage that lasts two to eight years,

followed by a two month resting stage

where no growth occurs.

After that, the hair then falls out and a new one

grows in its place.

So what I get from this is pretty much that the hairs

that are coming out in the shower all over your fingertips

are just the really old hairs that have

reached the end of their cycle

and it's time for them to go

and it's time for new hair to come back.

But then we wonder how much of it is normal?

Well I'm pretty sure you've heard from every other

male hair guru on YouTube that a hundred hairs a day

is apparently the right amount, right?

And I've read that, I've seen that,

I've seen it in so many different places,

a hundred hairs a day is roughly the amount

that we're meant to lose.

Well I kind of wanted to bust that myth today,

I wanted to see how much hair I actually lose

because to tell you the truth,

ever since I can remember, every time I've washed my hair

so much hair comes out.

Like look at this, I actually

when I first saw this bag, right,

I actually thought there's way more

than a hundred hairs in there.

And I'm actually, I'm gonna count them all today.

Here in front of you to see what my natural is.

And I've always lost this much hair when I have a shower

and I'm definitely not going bald.

So I feel like doing this myth bust is very

needed and that's why I'm doing it today.

The post that I actually found says

100 to 125 is quite normal.

And it also said something else that was really interesting

that the human head actually has about 100,000 hairs on it

and I actually thought that number was quite low

because if you look at my hair, I feel like I've got

20 bazillion hairs on my head

which is probably why I get so much hairfall.

I have no idea, apparently there's natural remedies

as well that stop you from having so much hairfall

but I guess we can make another series out of that.

I actually also had another thought as well.

I thought if this is one day of hair growth

what would a week look like?

I strategically did this as well like I kind of

on Sunday, Sunday just gone I washed my hair

and I hadn't washed it for about five days.

Yuck.

Watched all the hair out, obviously there was

big clumps of it.

I didn't save that bundle but then I waited all of Monday

because I thought okay well this is gonna be

my 24 hour period where the hairs are falling out.

And then I thought on Tuesday I'll wash it again

and I'll grab the remnants,

which is what you see right here.

So I'm just wondering how much,

like if I left it for a whole seven days and did a wash

if this whole bag would be full.

That would be really interesting,

let me know as well if you want to see that

because I'm more than keen to do it over a week.

So it must be pretty clear, a lot of people

on this channel think my hair looks beautiful

and I just wanted to take a minute

to have a really close look at that.

Yeah, stunning.

Oh my god, I wonder how long I'm gonna be here.

Oh my god it actually looks like so much as well.

I'm wondering if like because my hair is so porous

that it like expands and maybe looks a little bit bigger

but I guess we're just gonna have to find out.

the length of my real hear, I don't get it.

How is that one falling out?

Some of these are definitely shorter than I thought.

And I don't know whether I should be counting them

as real hairs.

But I will, I will anyway.

A hundred, okay so here we are

at 100 hairs exactly, which that still looks like a lot,

like look at it.

But then we've also got all of this to go.

So it looks like on average

my hair falls out a little bit more than usual

but hey I'm here to count the whole thing

and we're gonna find out how many hairs

are actually in this pile.

Ah, 158 freakin' hairs.

That's how many we've got in this bag.

I'm actually not that worried about it to be honest.

Like when I looked at this bag to begin with

I thought for sure and certain there's gonna be

over 300 hairs in it however

I'm actually pleasantly surprised.

I actually want to know how many hairs

you thought were in that bag at the beginning of this video

because when I looked at it I was like ooh.

I actually got a bit nervous while I was counting there.

So yeah, let me know about that

in the comment section below.

In terms of doing this activity

it's actually really cool because now I've kind of

got a gauge that all of that information

is actually quite correct.

I would like to test this a little bit further

and maybe do, you know, hair washes over a week

and count all of that hairfall.

Because by rights, if I count seven of this.

I should have, if that's one day of hairfall,

I should be able to count seven of it.

I think that's like what, is that like 1100?

Sentenced To LIFE IN PRISON!!!

Earlier today, a Guatemalan national was sentenced to life in prison following a March 2016 trial

that resulted in a conviction for his participation in an international drug trafficking conspiracy.

He was responsible for the distribution of multi-ton quantities of cocaine for illegal

importation into the United States.

Acting Assistant Attorney General John P. Cronan of the Justice Department's Criminal

Division and Special Agent in Charge Raymond Donovan ,of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration

(DEA) Special Operations Division made the announcement.

Waldemar Lorenzana-Cordon, 53, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly

of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

"Waldemar Lorenzana-Cordon was a drug kingpin whose criminal organization had close ties

to the violent Sinaloa Cartel ,and was responsible for transporting massive amounts of cocaine

to be sold on our streets," said Acting Assistant Attorney General Cronan.

"Lorenzana-Cordon's life sentence sends a powerful message ,to leaders of drug trafficking

organizations that, if they send their poison to our country, the United States and our

international partners will work tirelessly to bring them to justice, no matter where

in the world they may reside.

I thank the dedicated prosecutors of the Criminal Division's Narcotic and Dangerous Drug Section

,and law enforcement officers with the Drug Enforcement Administration's Bilateral Investigations

Group for their outstanding work on this important case."

"One of the world's most influential drug traffickers now faces American justice and

DEA is pleased he will never be in business again," said DEA Special Agent in Charge

Donovan.

"Lorenzana-Cordon imported huge amounts of cocaine to the United States for over a

decade, helping fuel our nation's drug epidemic.

He conspired with some of the most brutal and destructive drug networks in history,

facilitating and coordinating huge shipments for the Sinaloa Cartel, among others.

DEA's work will always focus on these types of investigations: attacking the most powerful,

influential global criminal networks and their many facilitators and associates."

The defendant was convicted on one count of conspiring to unlawfully distribute cocaine

for illegal importation into the United States.

As proven at trial, the defendant along with his brother, co-defendant Eliu Lorenzana-Cordon,

led an international drug trafficking organization with close ties to the Sinaloa Cartel.

Between 1996 and 2009, the defendant and his co-conspirators received, stored, and distributed

multi-ton quantities of cocaine from Colombia at their properties in Zacapa, Guatemala,

for importation into Mexico and then ultimately into the United States.

In February, Eliu Lorenzana-Cordon was sentenced to life in prison following a March 2016 trial

resulting in a conviction.

On April 27, 2010, the Department of Treasury's Office of Foreign Asset Control designated

the defendant and his brother, Eliu Lorenzana-Cordon, as Specially Designated Narcotics Traffickers

pursuant to the Foreign Narcotics Kingpin Designation Act due to their significant roles

in international narcotics trafficking and their ties to the Sinaloa Cartel.

The DEA's Special Operations Division's Bilateral Investigations Unit and Guatemala

City Country Office led the investigation, which was supported by the Organized Crime

Drug Enforcement Task Force program, the Criminal Division's Office of International Affairs,

the Chicago Police Department and the governments of El Salvador and Panama provided support

,and assistance.

Finally, and in particular, the Justice Department wishes to convey its gratitude to the government

of Guatemala for its steadfast commitment, collaboration and assistance in the investigation,

extradition, and prosecution of this case.

Assistant Deputy Chief Michael Lang and Trial Attorney Emily Cohen of the Criminal Division's

Narcotic ,and Dangerous Drug Section are prosecuting the case.

Hey guys and welcome back to my channel

my name is Thomas if you're brand new here

and I make style and hair related videos

every single week here on YouTube.

And in today's video we're gonna be talking a little bit

about hairfall, how much is normal,

and I am literally going to be counting

how much hairfall I got from my last shower.

So if hairfall is something that you

experience in the shower

which I'm absolutely sure you probably have at some point

and you want to know how many hairs are in this bag

then I would keep watching okay.

Just before I kick this video off as well

I don't want to like act like I'm some PhD doctor.

Everything that I'm gonna be talking in this video about

is just pretty much research that I've done online.

I've been doing hair videos for a long time

so I'm definitely interested in the topic.

Essentially my version of this in layman's terms,

hairfall is pretty much just shedding.

Obviously you've got hair loss

which is from multiple different things

that could happen inside your body,

but hair shedding or hairfall is actually so normal.

Like when you're washing your hair,

I'm sure you can relate to this when you're washing

your hair, hairs come out and we've

probably all thought as well, oh my god I'm going bald.

Right I've don't that a lot.

But the cool thing is I've found this blog, right?

And I found it really really helpful.

And I kind of was wondering A, how much hairfall is normal,

and B why the freaking hell does it happen, right?

It says that each hair follicle undergoes

a growth stage that lasts two to eight years,

followed by a two month resting stage

where no growth occurs.

After that, the hair then falls out and a new one

grows in its place.

So what I get from this is pretty much that the hairs

that are coming out in the shower all over your fingertips

are just the really old hairs that have

reached the end of their cycle

and it's time for them to go

and it's time for new hair to come back.

But then we wonder how much of it is normal?

Well I'm pretty sure you've heard from every other

male hair guru on YouTube that a hundred hairs a day

is apparently the right amount, right?

And I've read that, I've seen that,

I've seen it in so many different places,

a hundred hairs a day is roughly the amount

that we're meant to lose.

Well I kind of wanted to bust that myth today,

I wanted to see how much hair I actually lose

because to tell you the truth,

ever since I can remember, every time I've washed my hair

so much hair comes out.

Like look at this, I actually

when I first saw this bag, right,

I actually thought there's way more

than a hundred hairs in there.

And I'm actually, I'm gonna count them all today.

Here in front of you to see what my natural is.

And I've always lost this much hair when I have a shower

and I'm definitely not going bald.

So I feel like doing this myth bust is very

needed and that's why I'm doing it today.

The post that I actually found says

100 to 125 is quite normal.

And it also said something else that was really interesting

that the human head actually has about 100,000 hairs on it

and I actually thought that number was quite low

because if you look at my hair, I feel like I've got

20 bazillion hairs on my head

which is probably why I get so much hairfall.

I have no idea, apparently there's natural remedies

as well that stop you from having so much hairfall

but I guess we can make another series out of that.

I actually also had another thought as well.

I thought if this is one day of hair growth

what would a week look like?

I strategically did this as well like I kind of

on Sunday, Sunday just gone I washed my hair

and I hadn't washed it for about five days.

Yuck.

Watched all the hair out, obviously there was

big clumps of it.

I didn't save that bundle but then I waited all of Monday

because I thought okay well this is gonna be

my 24 hour period where the hairs are falling out.

And then I thought on Tuesday I'll wash it again

and I'll grab the remnants,

which is what you see right here.

So I'm just wondering how much,

like if I left it for a whole seven days and did a wash

if this whole bag would be full.

That would be really interesting,

let me know as well if you want to see that

because I'm more than keen to do it over a week.

So it must be pretty clear, a lot of people

on this channel think my hair looks beautiful

and I just wanted to take a minute

to have a really close look at that.

Yeah, stunning.

Okay are you ready, here we go.

Oh my god, I wonder how long I'm gonna be here.

Should we count that one?

Oh my god it actually looks like so much as well.

I'm wondering if like because my hair is so porous

that it like expands and maybe looks a little bit bigger

but I guess we're just gonna have to find out.

Yeah look at them, like this one's not even like

the length of my real hear, I don't get it.

How is that one falling out?

Some of these are definitely shorter than I thought.

And I don't know whether I should be counting them

as real hairs.

But I will, I will anyway.

A hundred, okay so here we are

at 100 hairs exactly, which that still looks like a lot,

like look at it.

But then we've also got all of this to go.

So it looks like on average

my hair falls out a little bit more than usual

but hey I'm here to count the whole thing

and we're gonna find out how many hairs

are actually in this pile.

Ah, 158 freakin' hairs.

That's how many we've got in this bag.

I'm actually not that worried about it to be honest.

Like when I looked at this bag to begin with

I thought for sure and certain there's gonna be

over 300 hairs in it however

I'm actually pleasantly surprised.

I actually want to know how many hairs

you thought were in that bag at the beginning of this video

because when I looked at it I was like ooh.

I actually got a bit nervous while I was counting there.

So yeah, let me know about that

in the comment section below.

In terms of doing this activity

it's actually really cool because now I've kind of

got a gauge that all of that information

is actually quite correct.

I would like to test this a little bit further

and maybe do, you know, hair washes over a week

and count all of that hairfall.

Because by rights, if I count seven of this.

I should have, if that's one day of hairfall,

I should be able to count seven of it.

I think that's like what, is that like 1100?

We just did a calculation, it should be 1,106 hairs

roughly that I would get over a week.

Seventeen Iconic BMW Race Cars to Go on Display for New LeMay Car Museum Exhibit - Duration: 4:15.

BMW is bringing one of its largest heritage exhibits yet to the Pacific Northwest.

The brand announced Friday that its "Heroes of Bavaria—75 Years of BMW Motorsports"

exhibit will open on May 12 at the LeMay—America's Car Museum in Tacoma, Washington.

As the name suggests, this exhibit takes visitors through 75 years of BMW's racing history,

featuring 17 cars of every era spanning from the 1937 328 Roadster to the 2017 M6 GTLM

IMSA racer.

All of these cars have been donated by private owners and the BMW USA Classic Collection.

Some of the rarest and most historical cars on the list include the original 1961 700

RS, the only 1972 3.0 CSL Group 2 rally car, and Ralf Schumacher's 2000 BMW-Williams Formula

1 car.

The remaining racing Bimmers that will be on display are as follows: 1965 1800 TI/SA,

1975 BMW 3.0 CSL Group 4 IMSA, 1975 BMW 3.5 CSL IMSA, 1977 BMW 320 Turbo IMSA Group 5

No. 2, 1981 March-BMW 812 Formula 2 No. 5, 1981 March-BMW M1/C IMSA No. 2, 1986 BMW 635i

'John Player Special' Livery No. 1, 1987 BMW M3 Korman Firehawk Series No. 28, 1992

BMW M3 GTS-3 IMSA No. 07 'Valvoline' Livery, 1994 BMW M5 Bridgestone Supercar No. 2, 1994

BMW 318i Super Touring No. 2, 2011 BMW M3 GT IMSA Champion No. 56, and a 2015 BMW Z4

GTLM IMSA 'BMW NA 40th Anniversary' Livery No. 25.

This sounds like heaven for BMW racing nerds.

There will be an opening ceremony held the night the exhibit opens, primarily with a

live discussion led by the museum's master collector Peter Gleason, with special guests

like Eric Wensberg, retired Motorsport and M Brand Manager for BMW of North America;

Thomas Plucinsky, Head of BMW Group Product Communications and BMW USA Classic; and Bill

Auberlen, the most successful BMW factory racing driver ever.

"We're thrilled to be the first to display this unrivaled collection on the West Coast

and share BMW's many motorsports accomplishments with the hundreds of thousands of guests who

visit ACM each year," said Adam Langsbard, CEO of American Automotive Trust.

Langbard's not-for-profit corporation located in Tacoma is in charge of preserving and maintaining

automotive heritage facilities in America, and is made up of LeMay and three other car

museums and collections.

to see this amazing display of BMW race cars.
