The Real Reason Ellen Might Call It Quits - Duration: 5:46.

After 15 years of dancing, games, and delightful banter, daytime TV's reigning queen is considering

taking off the crown.

She already signaled a return to her roots with a new stand-up comedy special, but is

there more to the story?

Here are the real reasons Ellen may quit her talk show.

Authenticity matters Perhaps the biggest reason why Ellen DeGeneres

doesn't want to do daytime TV anymore is because she doesn't feel like she's being her most

authentic self.

The comedian, who's famous for her clean, happy material on her talk show, explained

to The New York Times:

"The talk show is me, but I'm also playing a character of a talk-show host.

There's a tiny, tiny bit of difference."

The hostess' wife, actress Portia de Rossi also noted:

"She's just a bit more complicated than she appears on the show.

There's more range of emotion."

According to DeGeneres, fans of the show often expect her to be in character 24/7, which

is neither normal nor healthy.

The talk show host revealed:

"There's been times someone wants a picture, and while I'm doing a selfie, they're like:

'You're not dancing!'

Of course I'm not dancing!

I'm walking down the street."

"Like if someone cuts me off in a dangerous way, if I honk, they're like, 'Ellen?'"

Portia de Rossi, and Ellen's brother, comedian Vance DeGeneres, are at odds over Ellen staying

on for more seasons of her popular talk show.

De Rossi told The New York Times:

"I just think she's such a brilliant actress and stand-up that it doesn't have to be this

talk show for her creativity.

I don't see the end of her show as her career ending."

DeGeneres admitted that her wife's desire for her to retire from daytime TV has been

a point of contention in conversations with Vance, saying:

"[Portia] gets mad when my brother tells me I can't stop."

DeGeneres and de Rossi have reportedly had issues for a while over trying to maintain

a healthy work/life balance.

According to Life & Style, Ellen and Portia have been overheard arguing on the set of

the show, which reportedly shook Ellen enough to go to couples' therapy with her wife.

A source told the publication:

"Portia and Ellen are trying to be more like most busy working couples, who have to make

time to see each other."

Time to pass the torch

Though Ellen DeGeneres has yet to announce whether or not she's retiring, other stars

are already jumping at the chance to replace her on television.

One of those people is A.C. Slater himself, television personality Mario Lopez.

The host recently filled in for DeGeneres while she was on vacation and according to

some people, Lopez is so thirsty for the gig that he may need an IV for dehydration.

A source told Radar Online:

"Mario's focused on impressing everyone at the show.

He's not an obvious choice to take over from Ellen, but Mario has more than enough experience,

and he's desperate to move on to something bigger than Extra."

Unfortunately for Lopez, he reportedly faces some serious competition from Kelly Clarkson.

The OG American Idol was announced to have her own talk show premiering in fall 2019

on NBC stations as "a lead-in" to The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and sources have said that

Clarkson is "being groomed to take over" DeGeneres' time slot once the relatable blonde does retire.

Thanks, Jimmy

Ellen DeGeneres may want to leave daytime because a certain nighttime host keeps jacking

her on-air style.

As The New York Times pointed out, DeGeneres was having guests play wacky games on her

talk show long before Jimmy Fallon became famous for doing exactly that on The Tonight

Show.

DeGeneres joked about the late-night funnyman to The New York Times, saying:

"I'm flattered that he's taken stuff.

He said he was going to steal everything, so it's fine."

It's important to note that DeGeneres likely isn't bothered by Fallon's format, as

she and the former SNL cast member are longtime friends.

And if her newest show, Ellen's Game of Games has taught us anything, DeGeneres will

always be the queen of hilariously embarrassing her guests through games.

She's a stand-up gal

In 2018, Ellen DeGeneres made an eager attempt to get back to her stand-up comedy roots with

her much-anticipated hour-long special Relatable, which was released on Netflix in December.

She explained to fellow comedian-turned-talk show host Jimmy Kimmel why she decided to

take the leap back into stand-up:

"I decided I miss it and it would be a challenge to do another one, and I just decided to start

writing.

And I'm really happy with it."

DeGeneres' pal and fellow stand-up comedian Tig Notaro praised the special while speaking

with The New York Times, calling it "a decades-long payoff."

Rubbing audiences the wrong way

Ellen DeGeneres has a famously loyal fan base and in-studio audience, but she's reportedly

rubbed a few of her fans the wrong way in recent years.

In 2017, the talk show host found herself in the hot seat after a hidden camera prank

gone wrong.

In the segment, DeGeneres set up hidden cameras to try and catch audience members stealing

merchandise after being specifically instructed to take only one item.

While it was all in good fun, one audience member who got busted taking more than her

share and was forced to sit in "Ellen jail" ended up looking as if she'd been set up

to be shamed.

"What's your sister's name?"

"Anna."

"Alright, well Anna got you in big trouble."

She's disillusioned with her guests

Aside from DeGeneres herself, the biggest part of The Ellen DeGeneres Show is its A-list

celebrity guest list but the host has seemed disillusioned in recent years with the stars

who've visited her show.

The Bachelor castoff Corinne Olympios said on The Morning Breath podcast that her 2017

interview with DeGeneres made her "uncomfortable," alleging that the universally beloved talk

show host was "very aggressive" during the interview, in which DeGeneres commented

on the Bachelor contestant's frequent use of the word "nanny" and nudity on the

reality show.

"Don't you think you were crazy?"

Viewers have also noticed DeGeneres' seemingly off-putting behavior with more notable guests,

like Jennifer Lopez, Katy Perry and the adorable kids from Stranger Things.

But, hey -- even the Queen of Nice is allowed to have an off-day or two.

NASA Mars Report: Dec. 20, 2018 - Duration: 1:49.

The Mars Report: Dec. 20, 2018

InSight

On November 26th, NASA's InSight successfully landed at Elysium Planitia near the Mars equator.

The HiRISE camera on NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter captured these images during a flyover.

Shortly after landing, InSight snapped its first pictures.

And within weeks, its first selfie.

InSight's highly sensitive seismometer recorded the Martian winds vibrating its solar panels.

The lander's air pressure sensor also recorded the wind.

Using the arm and camera, the team started characterizing the lander's surroundings.

This testbed is used to practice setting the lander's instruments on the surface

before they do it for real on Mars.

They wear augmented reality headsets to build a Martian rock garden modeled on images from the spacecraft.

Days after testing deployment on Earth, InSight placed its first instrument on the surface of Mars.

New images show the seismometer on the ground, its copper-colored covering gleaming in the Martian sunlight.

Just 373 miles away at Gale Crater, Curiosity drilled its 19th hole on Mars.

This is the last sample the mission expects to drill from this location on Mount Sharp.

How to Make Christmas Fry Pan Cookies - Duration: 6:01.

Hi I'm Erin.

Christmas is just a few days away and that means its time for Christmas cookies here

on the ranch.

Every year we bake up a storm and deliver containers of yummy homemade goodies to our

friends and neighbors.

Today we get started with an old family favorite, Fry Pan Cookies on Our Wyoming Life.

Last year during one of our videos Mike showed our finished containers of baked goods that

were ready to be delivered.

We received a ton of comments and emails asking what were the little ball cookies covered

in coconut?

They're fry pan cookies.

An old recipe that my Grandma Betty always made.

I asked my mom where this recipe came from and she had no idea.

She just remembers them always being part of her childhood and I remember the same.

Every year my mom made Fry Pan cookies just like her mom did.

They are now a favorite in our holiday gifts and, after much request from viewers, I'll

show you how to make them today.

Baking and filming are best done after the kids head to bed.

Last night I whipped up a batch of cookies and this morning we awoke to find that Justin,

our Elf on the Shelf, sampled the cookies.

I'm guessing he was taste testing in advance of Santa's arrival.

I'm hoping that he approves!

Fry pan cookies are made on the stove and the ingredients are actually pretty simple.

They have dates, walnuts, rice krispies and a few other ingredients in them.

While chopping dates it occurred to me that I had no idea what a date is.

Of course, I knew that it is a dried fruit, but I had no idea where it came from.

After a quick internet search, I found that it is a flowering plant in the palm family.

Dates have been a staple food of the middle east for thousands of years and ancient Egyptians

used to make date wine.

Dates are super sweet and very sticky.

A dried date contains around 75% sugar.

They are most commonly seen dried or stuffed with cream cheese and other ingredients.

They're sticky and messy but we only need a cup of chopped dates.

1 cup of walnuts need to be chopped finely.

Pecans could also be used.

I like the nuts to be finely chopped as it makes rolling the cookies a little easier

if there's no big chunks of nuts.

Next, we need to measure 2 cups of rice krispies into a bowl for later.

2 room temperature eggs are cracked into a bowl and are well beaten.

Before we head to the stove to start cooking, we also need to get 2 tablespoons of butter

ready to go.

Now we're ready to cook.

Over at the stove we need the dates, eggs, sugar and butter.

We're using a non-stick pan for this or a cast iron pan would also work great.

First in the pan goes the butter on low heat.

Once the butter is completely melted the sugar and dates can be added into the pan.

Last in the pan goes the beaten eggs.

Now it the tricky part.

You do not want scrambled eggs with dates and sugar, so you must keep the heat low and

stir constantly.

I work quickly to get the dates broken apart and get everything mixed together.

After the mixture has started to warm you can gradually increase the heat.

All the while keep stirring.

You're going to spend 5-10 minutes cooking the mixture until it reaches a nice golden-brown

color.

I don't want it to cook too fast so I'm continuously adjusting the heat up and down.

Once it's golden brown it can be removed from the heat.

Over on the counter the walnuts and rice krispies are added into the pan and everything is thoroughly

mixed together.

I should have poured everything into a large bowl and I wouldn't have made such a mess.

The cookies will need to cool for 3-5 minutes before they can be rolled.

While waiting for it to cool I open the bag of coconut and place it in a shallow dish.

After a few minutes of cooling I take some room temperature butter and add it to my hands.

A spoonful of cookie is scooped from the bowl and rolled into a ball.

Then it's into the coconut where it is rolled in the coconut.

The warm cookies are placed on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper until

they are cooled.

I'm not a big fan of these cookies so Mike is our official taste tester today.

I'm happy that one item is crossed off the baking to do list.

I still need to make sugar cookies, fudge, peanut butter blossoms and a few more things.

As usual I'm behind but before Christmas comes the baking will be done and the presents

will be wrapped.

I hope you and your family and friends have an amazing Christmas and holiday season.

Mike has a new video for you this Sunday continuing the history of the ranch series.

Make sure your subscribed and if you want to receive notifications of when we post new

videos hit the bell.

Thanks for joining me as we explore the ranch life and escape the ordinary on Our Wyoming

Life.

How To Completely Shut Down Claude Tutorial | Mobile Legends - Duration: 11:10.

Claude One of the most Op marksman ever in Mobile

Legends.

He deals tons of damage, it's really easy to use, only needs one item to start snowballing,

he is very hard to kill, and has an absurd aoe Ultimate.

Are you not tired of all these OP heroes being released and it seems like there's

no way to counter them?

Well fear not, after watching this video you won't have to worry about Claude destroying

your whole team again.

And yes, in this game I am using Grock.

If I reckon, I was pretty confused after playing three games in a row and noticed my tanks

have no clues how to build and counter Claude.

For starter, if you are using tank, or a high HP hero.

The best item to get to counter him it's Blade Armor.

I have seen countless games where players only stick to one build and they don't adjust.

This item it's so damn good against Claude and it's pretty cheap.

It only costs 1660!

Blade Armor deal 25% of your opponent's physical attack back to them when a basic

attack is received.

This item it's so damn good against Claude and it's pretty cheap. It only costs 1660!

You would have more HP and more armor than Claude, so he would end up receiving a lot

more damage than you.

Secondly, the best battle spell against heroes that attack very fast it's Vengeance.

You will return magic damage per attacks received to your attackers.

And since Claude attacks twice and has an insane attack speed you can already imagine

how fast he will melt.

Some might argue that if you are using Claude you would just stop attacking when the opponent

activate Vengeance.

Well you don't activate it when he's just doing basic attack, you save it until Claude

uses his Ultimate, and he would end up self-destructing.

Now imagine that in your team you don't only have one hero but two that have either

Blade Armor and/or Vengeance.

It cloud be one tank plus a fighter or two tanks.

You can already imagine how scared Claude would be to even attempt to use his Ultimate

when you are all bunched up together.

Heroes that are good to counter Claude...

Some of the most obvious ones would be those heroes that can disable and stop his Ultimate

such as Chou, Saber, Minotaur and especially Gato.

Gato with Blade Armor it's such an incredible combo against Claude, since his second skill

will force Claude to attack him.

At the end of the duration, not only will Claude receive 25% of his own physical attack

dmg back to him, Gato will also launch a counter that deals tons of magic damage according

to his total HP.

So these are the three was that you can easily counter claude that anyone can do it.

Hopefully this video will help you get over the fear of Claude and I would leave you guys

with the rest of the gameplay so you can see for yourself how easily it is to counter him.

And before you forget, pause the video to hit that like button, subscribe and hit the

notification bell.

Thanks and enjoy the rest.

Jewish Erasure in Burton Films | Burtonmas, day 4 - Duration: 11:06.

As much as Christopher Lee playing a stern, withholding, and kind of duplicitous authority figure

hits *all* the right buttons,

I still very easily could've still gotten my fix had he been a rabbi and not a priest.

[♪ Electronic Remix - Beetlejuice Opening Title ♪] Pee-Wee: "You don't wanna get mixed up with a guy like me."

"I'm a loner."

"A rebel."

♪ Wilbur Wonka: "Let's see what the damage is, shall we?"

[tv switches off]

Now that Paige and I are starting to get into the end of Burtonmas,

it's a good time to have the following disclaimer for the next few videos.

We are aware of the possibility that Tim Burton might be neurodivergent or disabled.

If he is, he has never been public about it and he's under no obligation to be,

but it also means he does not want us to look at him or his work with that lens,

so we are not going to do that work for him.

We are going to be getting more critical of Burton in these remaining videos,

and none of that critique is aimed at traits that might be the result of neurodivergence.

If it ever comes across this way, it's absolutely not our intention.

We will still make some flippant jokes for fun, but we're going to be careful with them.

Let's get started.

In 2016, I made a video about Burton's comments on the racial disparity in his films,

and someone left a comment about how "Corpse Bride" was actually based on a Jewish fairytale.

You might be surprised to learn that if you've seen the film because while there is religion in it, Judaism is not.

That comment has stuck with me,

but substantiating that claim turned out to be a lot more difficult than I thought it would be.

Despite the vast amount of research that I did on this film, I wasn't able to find a definitive answer.

There were some references to a Jewish story, but many many more referred to a 19th-century Russian folktale.

I did some digging and discovered that this "19th-century Russian folktale"

seems to have first appeared on the Internet in 2004 on a fansite called the Tim Burton Collective.

It doesn't quite read like a folktale usually does, and CONVENIENTLY,

there's no author, manuscript, or source of any kind included.

[suspicious] Hm…

[more suspicious] Hm…

[extra suspicious] Hmm!

My guess is that one of the moderators wrote it to generate traffic to their site and clearly it worked.

The other theory is that the story in question is a 16th-century Jewish tale called "The Finger,"

and possibly a German tale called "The Demon in the Tree" which has a similar theme

and is also from the 16th-century. I guess this theme was quite popular then.

Both appear in a collection of Jewish folktales selected, translated, and retold

by folklorist Howard Schwartz, called "Lilith's Cave: Jewish Tales of the Supernatural."

This book was originally published in 1987, but was released as a paperback

in 1991 by the Oxford University Press. Schwartz does a wonderful job retelling these stories,

I'd definitely recommend picking up one of his books if you can.

Around the same time, Joe Ranft,

a man who is probably responsible for some of your favorite Disney and Pixar films,

was working on "The Nightmare Before Christmas" with his good friend Tim Burton,

who he'd attended CalArts with. Sometime during this project,

Ranft read a folktale about a man who accidentally marries a corpse,

and knowing that Burton was thinking about his next stop-motion project,

he thought this macabre story would perfectly suit his friend's sensibilities.

We don't know for certain if the story that Ranft read was from "Lilith's Cave,"

but given that he was a story guy working for Disney–

who mines fairytales and folktales regularly for inspiration

–I don't think it's an unlikely scenario.

Burton's recollection of the story is muddled,

and Ranft tragically died in 2005, which is why "Corpse Bride" is dedicated to him.

The true answer of the film's beginning is probably lost to time.

But it actually kind of doesn't matter if it was a Jewish folktale,

because this is what Burton had to say about the story:

"Joe had heard a little story, like a paragraph, which was an excerpt from an old fable–

I don't even know what country it came–my recollection is that it didn't have a specific place of origin.

I-I wasn't really interested in what the real ethnic origins of the tale were,

because the thing that got me was the fable aspect of it."

[clicks tongue]

[sighs]

Something to know about Tim Burton is that he is low-key anti-intellectual and not great with words.

His interviews don't read very well because he stutters, starts new sentences in the middle of others,

and loses his train of thought.

It would be very easy to nitpick everything he says simply because of the way he says it,

but I do the exact same thing.

Critiquing him for that would not only be ableist but unfair.

That isn't what's wrong with this quote. It's what he says.

Absolutely everything has a specific place of origin, even if you don't pick up on it.

We can acknowledge the universality of themes without dismissing the individual cultures that create them,

even when they're variations on the same stories.

You do not have to be Chinese to enjoy Pixar's short film, "Bao,"

because it tells a familiar story about parenthood, while also showing us a specifically Chinese experience.

So to say that a fable resonated with you SO well

that it must not have had a specific origin just makes you sound…

…insensitive?

At the very least?

Like you couldn't possibly comprehend a story if it was tainted by the details

of an experience that wasn't your own.

It's a very unimaginative mindset for a filmmaker

and a rather xenophobic and racist one when you specifically aren't interested in origins that are "ethnic."

In an article for Jewish Journal, "Corpse Bride" co-screenwriter, John August,

said the characters weren't Jewish because:

"Tim gravitates towards universal, fairy-tale qualities in his films."

But if you read "The Finger," most of it IS universal.

Yes, there's Hebrew and rabbis but those are details.

[ding!] Gentiles can easily read this story and totally understand it

because the fear of big life changes like marriage and death are what's at the heart of the story,

not something that is unique to a Jewish identity.

You would still recognize "Beauty and the Beast" if it were played by mariachi,

and you can recognize "Frankenstein" even if the monster is a dog in 1960s California.

"I definitely didn't want to root 'Corpse Bride' in a specific place, and wasn't really interested

in what the real ethnic origins of the tale were, because the thing that got me was the fable aspect of it.

But it does have a somewhat Victorian feel, because in terms of the living

world it sort of represents that kind of Victorian repression."

This is why it doesn't matter if "The Finger" really was the basis for "Corpse Bride."

It could've been Egyptian or Hindu or Apalachee and it wouldn't have made any difference

because he still would've changed it.

Humans have been adapting fairytales to make them more

relevant to their cultural moments since the beginning of storytelling.

The fact that Burton did the same here isn't the real problem,

nor am I arguing in this video that he is specifically anti-Semitic.

The problem is that he felt the change was NECESSARY, which indicates broad casual bigotry.

Burton can clearly detect the universality found in fables,

but he views their "ethnic origins" as a blemish on an otherwise good story,

one that has to be removed to make a story worth telling.

Which is also a Eurocentric and racist way of thinking,

because he doesn't hold the same standard to stories about white people that take place in the U.K. or the U.S.

"Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children" doesn't HAVE to be set in Wales specifically.

But it is.

And the film makes sure that we know it is, because the words "Wales" and "Welsh" are said at least 20 times.

The book it's based on by Ransom Riggs is also set in Wales, but it's also Jewish.

Jake, the main character, and his parents don't seem to be religious, but Jake's grandfather IS Jewish

and it's a detail that's important because it enriches the story overall.

His character's persecution at the hands of the Nazis in World War II

BECAUSE he was a Polish Jew mirrors the supernatural conflict of the story.

I'm sure it's not a coincidence that the name of the villains bear a striking resemblance to the word "Holocaust."

It doesn't get brought up a whole lot, but the story wouldn't be as compelling without that real-life parallel.

To quote John Hodgman, "Specificity is the soul of narrative."

Burton, on the other hand, never mentions the following words in his film adaptation:

Jew, Jewish, Nazi, World War II, Holocaust.

Germans are mentioned…once.

[film] "German air raid."

[ding!]

We see the Nazi swastika on a bomb…once.

Burton completely wipes the story clean of any of World War II's "specific ethnic origins."

According to the 2016 interview I referenced at the start of this video,

when Burton was asked about why his films are so racially homogenous, he said that he feels that,

"things either call for things, or they don't."

[tentatively] That's not untrue.

But considering he felt that a story set in World War II

about being systematically hunted and murdered for who you are

DIDN'T call for the presence of Jewish people, I don't know how if Tim Burton really has a grasp of that sense.

And it's not as if it was an oversight.

He read the book!

And then CHOSE not to include that.

He apparently liked the book too,

I guess he just didn't like that part.

Besides the sudden onset of dubstep in the third act–

[film] [dubstep plays]

–the most infuriating part of this film happens around 15 minutes in,

with a line that is so quintessentially Burton that it feels parodic.

In this scene, the Holocaust, the horrors of World War II, the bigotry and cruelty is explained this way:

[film] "He said you got sent to Wales cause there were bad people.

People wh-who wanted to kill anyone who was different."

Not "People who wanted to kill a lot of people, but ESPECIALLY Jewish people,"

but

"anyone who was DIFFERENT."

And thus, Burton indirectly makes the Holocaust about him!

[silent, pained chuckling]

[inhales]

[strained, awkward exhale]

This idea that being different is the ultimate oppression shows up in practically every single film Burton directs

and we're going to get into it more in the remaining videos.

But I wanted to draw your attention to it here because Burton removes culture to the detriment of his stories.

"Miss Peregrine's" was fine, like all of his movies.

Not great, but…

good.

It would've been much more interesting and perhaps enduring

if there had been some discussion of Nazis and anti-Semitism,

[through gritted teeth] especially given how relevant that would've been in 2016.

The biggest thing to take from Burton's approach to "Miss Peregrine's"

and "Corpse Bride" is that the presence of diverse experiences does not

run counter to an audience's ability to enjoy and emotionally invest in it.

Stories expose and encourage us to explore surroundings different from our own,

and we can relate to them without brushing aside the things that make them different.

Tim Burton seems to understand that it's humanity that makes a story universal,

regardless of who conveys that story,

[with emphasis] on a hypothetical level

But it would be nice if his understanding didn't just apply to fictional monsters in the suburbs,

Cardi B, Michael Buble & More Sing 'Xmas (Baby Please Come Home)' In Epic 'Carpool Karaoke' - Daily - Duration: 2:41.

James Corden has delivered his annual holiday present to fans with Christmas Carpool Karaoke

He rounded up guests from 2018's segments to sing along to 'Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)

'  In an annual tradition. James Corden made sure to have his 2018 Carpool Karaoke guests sing along for a holiday edition, no matter what time of year they appeared

This year it was "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" that was the song of the season

His team planned this out well ahead of time because some of the singers he includes date back to spring Carpool Karaoke appearances

James is seen dressed in a Santa hat, a gaudy holiday sweater and tons of wrapped gifts and a toy soldier in the back seat saying  he's got presents, planned out Xmas dinner but just still doesn't feel "Christmassy" then he realizes he knows what will bring the holiday to life

He wills Michael Buble into the front seat with a snap of his fingers and off they go

Michael taped his segment especially for the Christmas Carpool Karaoke and is seen wearing a red and white holiday sweater with reindeer on it

He says he is "so ready" for the holidays and off the segment goes. Next up is recent guest Cardi B

James cajoles her into singing along, telling her "It's Christmas!" to which Cardi snarks back "It's not even cold outside" pointing her long nailed fingers out the window

But she's game as they start clapping along and the song begins.  James managed to get past guests including Shawn Mendes, Barbra Streisand, Migos, Adam Levine and even Paul McCartney to sing along to the festive tune

James had two of the greatest voices in pop music to help with vocal runs as Christina Aguilera and Ariana Grande crush their verses and got multiple appearances in the video

By the end he got all of the stars to wave at the camera and wish everyone a Marry Christmas before James said "We'll see you next year

" The video will air on his final taped show of 2018 on Dec. 20. Watch and enjoy!

How to Crochet Sweater Dress - Duration: 47:02.

Hi everyone! In today's video I will show you how to

crochet this sweater dress. This dress is pretty easy to make and

beginner friendly you only need to know basic crochet stitches like how to make a

chain stitch, slip stitch and single crochet. In this tutorial I will show

you how to make this dress in size small. For other sizes you can refer to my blog

as usual I will put the link to my blog in the description box below.

Ok this is the cuff of the sweater made of single crochet and the neck also

made of single crochet and the entire body was made of extended single crochet

okay the bottom also made of single crochet and the length of this dress

stopped just above my knees if you don't want to make a sweater dress you can

also make a regular sweater by making less rows and now let's take a

look what we need for this tutorial you need a 6.5 millimeter crochet

hook, tapestry needle for sewing, scissor,

stitch markers, measuring tape and yarn about 900 grams

I bought this yarn from Aliexpress but there's no label but I believe this is

aran or 8 ply worsted weight yarn. You can use any type of yarn you prefer that

can match the gauge. Now let's check the gauge first if you make 9 rows of 8

single crochet you should get about 3 by 3 inches, you can use any

hook size to obtain the gauge.

I will show you how to make the sleeve first. Make a slipknot and this is the cuff of

the sleeve, chain 9. One two three four five six seven eight nine and then we're

going to single crochet in the back bump of the second chain from hook here as

you can see this is the back bump of the chain. Twist your yarn to the back and

then insert your hook in the back bump here and continue the single crochet in

each of the back bump across.

okay when you single crochet you want to make sure your tension is not too tight

because you don't want your cuff to be dense and stiff, you want your cuff to be

nice and stretchy, so don't pull your yarn too tight when you single crochet and

now I'm in the last bump, you should get a total of 8 single crochet. One two

three four five six seven eight and this is how the bottom of your stitch should look

like. Now chain one turn your work around and for Row 2 just single crochet in

each of the stitch across, remember not to pull your yarn too tight you want

your cuff to be nice and stretchy not dense and stiff.

Now chain one turn you work around and for Row 3 just single crochet in each of the

stitches across and just continue with this pattern until Row 23. Okay here I

already made one sleeve, let me show you where we are now you are here. You are going to

make 23 rows of single crochet and after that you are going to continue to make the

body of the sleeve, we will increase the number of stitches every 5 rows and then

after that we will decrease the number of stitches. Now let's continue to make the

sleeve, this is 23 rows of single crochet we are facing the right side now. Okay

now chain 1 and this is Row 1 for the body of the sleeve we will count this as

Row 1, we're going to make one extended single crochet in each of the single crochet

space across. Insert your hook in the first single crochet space here, yarn over

pull through now you have two loops on your hook, yarn over pull through one, now

you have two loops on your hook, yarn over and pull through two loops, so that is

how you make extended single crochet. Insert your hook in the next space, yarn

over pull through, yarn over pull through one, and then yarn over and pull through

two. So that is how you make your extended single

crochet and you're going to make one extended single crochet in each of the spaces

across. Now just continue to yarn over pull through, yarn over pull through one and then yarn

over pull through two. As you can see you will put one extended single crochet in each

of the spaces across and you will get a total of 23 extended single crochet.

Okay now we are facing the right side of our work and I'm just going to hide the

ends of the yarn here at the back so you will know which side is the right side

and the wrong side. So the wrong side is where you hide the ends of the yarn. Now

just continue to make one extended single crochet in each space till the

end of row.

Okay you should get a total of 23 extended single crochet, now chain one

turn you work around and just continue to make one extended single crochet in

each stitch across. So you're going to repeat this pattern until Row 5.

Now I'm at the end of Row 2, chain one turn you work around and for Row 3

just extended single crochet in each of the stitch across and just

repeat this pattern until Row 5 and after Row 5 we will start to increase

the number of stitches. Okay now I have one two three four five rows of extended

single crochet and on the next row, Row 6 you are going to add one extended

single crochet in the first and in the last stitch. Now chain one turn your work

around and make two extended single crochet in the first stitch. One extended single

crochet and another one. So you are adding one extended single crochet in

the first and in the last stitch, so just continue to extended single crochet in

each stitch across until you only have one stitch remaining.

Okay here in the last stitch, you're going to make two extended single crochet, one

extended single crochet and two extended single crochet. So you add one extra stitch in

the first and last stitch and now you should get a total of 25 extended single

crochet. Okay we will increase every five rows on row 6, 12, and then row 18, row 24

and row 30.

Okay now I'm on row 7, I'm going to put a stitch marker on row 6 where we made the

increase. Chain 1, turn your work around and on row 7 we're not going to increase,

just make a regular row, extended single crochet in each stitch across and you

will get a total of 25 extended single crochet.

Okay now I already have 1 2 3 4 5 rows without the increase and on row 12, you're going

to increase again make two extended single crochet in the first stitch, one extended single crochet and two.

Continue to extended single crochet in each stitch across and in the last stitch

make two extended single crochet again, so you will get a total of 27 extended single

crochet on row 12.

Now put a stitch marker so you won't get confused on which row you've made the

increase. Now I'm at the end of row 12, make 2 extended single crochet in

the last stitch and just continue to increase every 5 rows until Row 30.

Okay now after you've made a total of 30 rows, we will start to decrease the

number of stitches for 16 rows.

Okay on row 31 we're not going to decrease yet, you're going to make another

regular row. Extended single crochet in each stitch across and after that on row 32,

we will start to decrease. You should get a total of 33 extended single crochet on

row 30 and row 31.

Okay row 31 will separate the row where you increase and decrease. Now chain one,

turn your work around and for row 32 we will start to decrease, you make

extended single crochet in the first stitch and then you're going to skip the next stitch and

continue to extended single crochet in each of the stitches across until you

have only two stitches left.

Okay I'm going to put a stitch marker on this row and now just continue until

you have only two stitches left and now I'm at the end I only have two stitches

remaining going to skip the next stitch and extended single crochet in the last

stitch. So that is how you decrease the number of stitches you should get a

total of 31 extended single crochet. Now on row 33 we're going to

make another regular row without decreasing just extended single crochet

in each stitch across and you should get a total of 31 extended single crochet on

row 33 you're going to decrease the number of stitches on every one row

every alternate row and now I'm at the end of row 33, chain 1 turn your work

around and on row 34, you're going to decrease the number of stitches again

extended single crochet in the first stitch skip the next stitch and continue

to extended single crochet in each stitch across until you only have two

stitches left.

I'm going to put a stitch marker on this row and then just continue to extended

single crochet in each of the stitches until you have two stitches left and now

I'm at the end I only have two stitches left, skip the next stitch and extended single

crochet in the last stitch. So that is how you decrease the number of stitches

Now just repeat this pattern alternately until Row 46 so you're just going to

decrease every one row and now I'm at the end of row 46, skip the next

stitch and extended single crochet in the last stitch and this is the last row,

row 46 you should get a total of 17 extended single crochet and this is how

your work should look like by now and you have a total of 16 rows of decrease

so the number of rows is 46. 30 rows of increase and 16 rows of decrease. Now

going to leave a long tail for sewing chain 1 and just pull your yarn

leave a long tail I'm just going to pull this, this is how I measure how long I

need, a little bit longer than the sleeve.

Now make another sleeve exactly the same, put this aside and now we are going to

make the body so the body is the same like the sleeve, going to start from the

bottom going up without increasing and then after that we will decrease for the

arm portion. So let me show you how to make it just like the sleeve, you're going to

make a slip knot and chain 9 and then for row 1 until row 55 you're going to

single crochet in the back bump of 2nd chain from hook and in each chain across. Okay

now I already made my 55 rows of single crochet, let's continue to make the body

extended single crochet in each single crochet spaces across so you have

a total of 55 rows for the band and for the body you should get a total of 55

extended single crochet just continue to make one extended single crochet in each space

now I'm at the end of row

okay now I have a total of 55 extended single crochet. Chain 1, turn your work

around and for Row 2 until Row 40 just going to extended single crochet in each

stitch across. Chain 1, turn your work around and just continue to extended single

crochet in each stitch across. So there will be no increase, just repeat this

pattern until row 40. Okay this is how your work should look like when you have

a total of 40 rows and if you want to make a shorter sweater just make less row

maybe about 30 rows, now after this you are going to decrease the numbers of stitches for the arm

portion. Ok the pattern is the same like how you make the decrease for the sleeve

chain 1, turn your work around and this is for row 41, extended single crochet in

the first stitch, skip the next stitch and extended single crochet in each

stitch across until you have two stitches left

okay now I'm at the end of row 41, I only have two stitches left skip the

next stitch and extended single crochet in the last stitch okay

now chain 1, turn your work around, for row 42 just extended single crochet

in each stitch across and this is the exact way on how you decrease for the

sleeve, you're going to make total of 16 rows of decrease. Okay now I am on the

last row, row 56 your last row should be a regular row and there will be no increase

on the last row, and you should get a total of 39 extended single crochet on your

last row so this is how your work should look like by now you have total of 16

rows of decrease and next we're going to leave a long tail for sewing, so now

just chain 1 and pull your yarn

I'm going to leave a long tail twice the length that I want to join and a little

bit more extra so I have enough yarn to sew the side seam together, cut off your

yarn and now just make exactly the same body for the back so you have two of

these and now we're going to join, I'm going to show you how to join all these

pieces together. Now just put your pieces all facing the right side and we're

going to use each of this tail to join the side seam together so for the sleeve

the long tail that have left from the sleeve will be used to sew the arm

portion here going to use the tail from the sleeve and then just continue to sew

to sleeve together and the left tail from the body will be used to sew the other

portion and continue on the side seam. Okay I will show you how to join the

sleeve to the body, I already join one of the sleeve and let me show you how to

join the other sleeve.

Okay you can use any other method you prefer to join the sleeve to the body

but I will show you how I joined the sleeve to the body facing the right side

so I don't have to flip the sweater to the right side out later

on when I've finished joining the sleeve, okay now let me align the sleeve with the

body first so I'm going to use the tail from the sleeve to join the arm portion and

continue to join the sleeve so just like this going to fold the back part so it

will be easier for me to sew the arm portion like this okay let me zoom in a

little bit more closer so you can see properly

okay a little bit closer okay can you see it? is it okay, okay so now

I'm just going to sew in zig-zag pattern like this so I'm going to pick

two loops from each side. I'm going to pick two loops here and then two loops from the

other side

and continue in a zig-zag pattern like this, I pick to look from this side

from two loops from the other side and then I'm going to pick two loops from this side

and two loops on the other side and just pull the yarn and you want to make sure

each of the rows from the sleeve and the body align with each other

if you have any other method that you prefer to sew the seam together you can

used it, just let me know in the comment below if you have other method that you

prefer because I don't know maybe this is not too neat I guess but that is how I

do it. So now going to continue until row 16 so we have 16 rows of

decrease so we have to join 16 rows for the arm portion, so this is the last row

and then I'm going to continue to join the sleeve, so facing the right side fold

your sleeve like this, this is facing the right side okay and now let's continue

to join the sleeve

okay for the sleeve you have 30 rows to join so you have to align each of the

rows properly so they have the same number of rows on each side

okay just like the arm portion I'm going to pick two loops from each side and sew

in a zigzag motion so I pick two loops here, two loops from the other side pull

your yarn, pick two loops from this side two loops on the other side and just

continue to sew the sleeve in a zigzag motion

and so this is the right side of your sweater already so you don't have to

flip this sweater on the right side out later are on because we are facing the

right side now. So now I'm at the last row I'm going to continue to join the

cuff so just like how you join the sleeve I'm going to pick two loops from each side

and then two loops from the other side and then just continue to do that till the

end of your cuff.

Okay now when you've finish just bring the yarn to the inside of the sleeve and

just make a knot and weave in the ends.

Okay this is how your work should look like by now and next you're going to continue

to join the side seam and the other arm portion, we're going to use the tail from

the body to join this portion here and continue on the side seam.

Okay insert your needle in the first stitch of your sleeve to bring the yarn

to the other side and then take two loops from this side and on the other

side, pull your yarn pick two loops from the side and two loops on the other side

pull your yarn and just continue to sew in a zigzag motion, that is how I

joined the arm portion facing the right side.

Just make sure you've joined 16 rows and here I have another one rows to join

okay that is 16 rows and next we are going to continue to join the side seam

of this sweater.

So I'm going around this armpit here to make sure there will be no hole so just

just go through each of the loop around until you reach the next row, just going to

align them properly and pull tight to close the armpit hole and next just

continue to join the side same by picking two loops on each side and sew in

a zigzag motion, okay this is the part where you have to be very patient it

took a long time to join the side seam together, but you know you just have to be

patient doing this and if you don't want to watch this part you can skip the

video. You can also use a smaller hook size to join the side same by picking

two loops on both side and pull the yarn using you hook, so if you don't have a

needle or you don't like to sew using a sewing needle you can use your hook.

Okay if you want an open slit at the bottom of your sweater you can just stop

joining the side seam here on the very first row but I don't want an open slit

for my sweater so I'm just going to continue to join this part together but

if you want an open slit just leave this part unworked.

Okay this is the inside or the wrong side of your sweater we have a slight

bump here and this is the outside and we are almost finished with our sweater, now the only thing left to do is then neck.

Okay now you can choose any side you want to be the front or the back of your

sweater and then I'm going to find the center stitch here we need to have an

equal number of stitches on each side and join your yarn in the center

stitch of the back of your sweater

okay just join your yarn here in the center stitch of the back of your

sweater and now I will count this as round one. Chain 1, and you're going to

make extended single crochet in the same stitch where you join the yarn and

continue to make extended single crochet in the next three stitches, okay after

you make 4 extended single crochet, you're going to make extended single crochet 2

together in the next two stitches. So now you have 4 extended single crochet, insert

your hook in the next stitch, yarn over pull through, yarn over pull through one,

insert your hook in the next stitch, yarn over pull through, yarn over pull through one,

yarn over and pull through all three loops on your hook.

So you decrease one stitch and in the next 4 stitches you're going to make

extended single crochet again and after that you're going to repeat the pattern

decreasing the number of stitch every 4 stitches. So just going to make

extended single crochet in the next 4 stitches, this is two, three extended

single crochet, four extended single crochet and in the next two stitches going to

decrease the number of stitch. Insert hook in the next stitch, yarn over pull

through, yarn over pull through one, insert your hook in the next stitch, yarn over

pull through, yarn over pull through one, yarn over pull through all three loops

on your hook. So that is how you decrease the number of stitch, so just repeat the

pattern around until you reach the end of the round.

Okay now I'm on my last six stitches, going to make extended single crochet 2

together in the next two stitches and then extended single crochet in the last

four stitches.

Now join with slip stitch in the first stitch here and for round two, you're going to

repeat the same pattern, chain 1 extended single crochet in the same stitch where

you slip stitch and then extended single crochet in the next three stitches.

Okay now continue to make extended single crochet 2 together in the next two

stitches and after that continue to make extended single crochet in the next four

stitches and after that just continue with the pattern until the end of round.

Ok here I'm almost at the end of round

just make extended single crochet in each of the remaining stitches and then

you're going to join with slip stitch in the first stitch, join with slip stitch

here in the first stitch.

Okay now we're going to continue to make the neck band, just like the sleeve here

but we're going to make it shorter only 5 single crochet. So now chain 6 and

continue to single crochet in the back bump of the second chain from your

hook and continue to single crochet in each of the bump until the end of your

chain and now you should get a total of 5 single crochet, one two three four five

next you're going to slip stitch in the next two stitches. Slip stitch in the next two

stitches here

turn your work around and just continue to single crochet in each of the

stitches,for Row 2

now chain 1, turn your work around and for row 3, you're going to single crochet in

each of the stitch across and slip stitch in the next two stitches, just

like row 1, so you're going to repeat this pattern alternately till the end of

your round. Okay now slip stitch in the next two stitches, turn your work

around and just repeat the pattern on row 2 and 3 alternately till the end of round.

Okay now I only have two stitches left you're going to slip stitch in the last

two stitches, turn you work around and just single crochet till the end

of row, now chain one and just leave a long tail for sewing.

Okay the neck of this sweater will be a little bit wider but still can cling on

your shoulder, so I won't called this sweater an off shoulder sweater but

still you can style this sweater like an off shoulder because the neck band

should be stretchy enough for you to slide it down your shoulder and style it like

an off shoulder sweater. Okay we're almost finished with this sweater I'm

just going to weave in the ends.

Okay now I'm done with the sweater and this is the final look. If you're a very

fast crocheter, I'm sure you can finish this sweater in about two to three days. It

took me about a week because I'm filming this tutorial but off-camera I

think I can finish the sweater in three days and let me know what your think

about this sweater in the comment section below and that's it for today

Bye bye, hope you enjoyed this tutorial and thank you for watching. Love~
