What I Wish I Knew When I Started My Photography Business - Duration: 4:29.Hello, I am Jamie from jamiedelainewatson.com, thank you so much for tuning in again this
week.
Today, I'm bringing you an amazing collaboration with my friend and fellow YouTuber Nadia.
We're both gonna be talking about the things that we wish we knew when we started our photography
businesses.
So, watch through this video and then make sure you click on over to Nadia's channel,
and subscribe, and watch her video as well.
Let's get started.
So, the first thing I wish I knew when I started my photography business is how important it
is to differentiate yourselves.
I know this is something that we may hear a lot in the industry, "Oh, be different,
be unique, stand out, offer something different."
That can be quite vague and difficult to understand what that actually means.
To me, what that's meant in my business is really doing the hard work to understand,
who am I?
What kind of unique things do I bring to the client?
What kind of images do I love to create?
And what kind of things do I not want to create?
What kind of things don't make me excited?
I love Lara Casey from cultivatewhatmatters.com says, "Write a list of things that fire you
up.
So, what makes you truly excited?"
Sometimes that can be a little bit easier than just brainstorming adjectives, or all
these other prompts.
What makes you excited, whether in business or life?
Just make a huge list of those things, and then figure out how you can bring more of
those things to your business, and to your client experience.
The second thing I wish I knew running a photography business is 80 to 90% business, and 10 to
20% actually taking photos.
So, if you're a photographer running your own business, congratulation, you're an entrepreneur.
Absolutely, when you're starting out you need to learn your gear and your equipment well,
and technical skills are absolutely important.
We cannot be making mistakes when it comes to delivering beautiful images for our clients.
But, after you have a good grasp on the technical skills in the first few years of your business,
you need to be investing twice if not thrice ... That's a kind of a cool word ... Thrice
as much time into your marketing, your systems, your pricing, and truly making sure that this
business you've started can go the distance.
The third thing I wish I knew, self promotion is not a bad word.
There is a way to promote yourself, and to promote your own business without it coming
across as icky ... What's the word I'm looking for?
Cocky and like it's all about you.
But, the reality is if you don't share your business, if you're so terrified of telling
other people what you do and coming across this way, you're really not gonna succeed.
Because if you don't tell anyone about your business, how are they suppose to know about
your business?
You are the face of your brand, and you need to be comfortable with sharing your face online.
So, if this feels overwhelming to you start in a small way this week, post on Instagram
of your face, not just your work, and share why it is that you love what you do and a
few unique things about you.
This will be a great way for clients to connect with you, and for you to get your name and
face out there as the brand of your business.
I have two more quick lessons coming your way, but this is your quick reminder to click
on over to Nadia's video.
At the end of this, I'll have the link in the description so you can watch her lessons
as well.
The fourth thing I wish I knew was how important backup systems are.
When you start photographing images for people and they're paying you to take these images,
we need to make sure that we have an amazing backup system in place.
So, if you have never gotten your backup system in order, I have a video that I'll put on
this screen, and you can click on over and watch that one from my whole backup system
process.
The last thing I wish I knew when I started my business is how lonely working for myself
could be.
I feel like every few years or seasons in my business I need to reevaluate, is how I
am working, working?
Am I happy just working from home?
Am I happy not seeing anyone for days on end besides my husband?
And the answer is no, so, each year I found a different system that works for me.
Maybe that's meeting a few other creatives, and consistently committing to meet at a coffee
shop three mornings a week for four hours.
Whatever it is you need to do to make sure that this business doesn't get you down, especially
in off season do that.
So, I have found an amazing rhythm, I work from a coworking space couple days a week,
and it's absolutely amazing to go there for six hours and to really focus on the work
I love, but without being totally alone especially in the non-shooting season.
So, thank you so much for watching today.
If you enjoyed what you saw can you give me a thumbs up, subscribe and comment below,
and be sure to check out my collaboration with Nadia as well.
She has the same video on her channel today.

5 THEORIES ABOUT SALMON RUN - Splatoon 2 - Duration: 9:02.Salmon Run is a brand new mode in Splatoon 2, and it has many secrets.
For instance: Salmonids, and their mysteries, and Mr Grizz,
a very enigmatic character sending us to work for him...
Many details remain untold and they are now often theorised.
Where do Salmonids come from? Who is Mr Grizz?
Why do we have to collect eggs? As you can see, many questions come to mind,
and we are going to highlight some details in order to find answers in this video.
First, let's talk about the origin of Salmonids.
Let's take a closer look at scroll 17 in Splatoon 2 :
[reading the French translation of the parchment]
[The following part deals with specific translations from French to English]
[Major Pagrus is the French name of Madai here]
As you may know, in the English version, this scroll is not "Major Pagrus's memoirs",
but you can read "The Book of Madai",
Madai is a biblical figure actually, he is said to Noah's descendant.
Moreover, Madai is the Japanese name of a kind of fish, so in English
it is actually a play on words mixing Splatoon's own aquatic world and
a little touch of religion in this scroll.
This fish name, Madai, becomes
Major Pagrus in French, and this name is the one used at the bottom
of the French version of the scroll.
[Litterally] Major Pagrus's Memoirs, Chapter 10.
So, the French translation sounds more like a manual of war rather than a biblical book,
but the play on words is actually pretty cool, only because of the translation.
The word "major" in French does not sound biblical, but in English, this scroll
has heavy religious references, and represents Salmonids coming out of the ocean, and
it seems like the seven circles in the sky are a biblical reference to the Seven Seals of Revelation,
And the two characters in the foreground may be a reference
to Adam and Eve, both casted out of the Garden of Eden, as depicted on a fresco by Masaccio.
We also had other references to Adam and Eve in the first Splatoon scrolls.
Anyway, here, with this biblical tone, Salmonids appear as some apocalyptic danger
and the two human characters are in fact Inklings chased away from their own paradise.
This is actually quite a mysterious scroll and it seems to give us the origins of
Salmonids like a divine arrival, which may only be some
gods' will to end the world as it is, nothing more.
However, historically, religious texts tend to find answers
to unsolved questions.
The true explanation may only be evolution, the same evolution that
made Inklings and Octarians come out of water.
Well, about the Octarians, we know that an alliance between Octarians
and Salmonids has been made.
It is said in the game manual, in the Salmon Run section.
You can read that Salmonids acquired the technology enabling them to build
gushers after meeting with the Octarians.
Indeed, the gushers in Goldie Seeking look like the same gushers
as the ones in the Octarian world, in the solo campaign.
An alliance between the two peoples known as our enemy is
pretty curious.
Indeed, we know that the Octarians are fond of science and biology.
We may think that Salmonids were created by the Octarians, but
that would be in contradiction with scroll 18, in which you can see salmons
in the Middle Ages, and also with scroll 17 actually, from earlier,
which gives the impression of being even older.
What is called "Middle Ages" in scroll 18 is not our real world Middle Ages but
Inklings' Middle Ages, that is to say an ancient time between
the rising sea levels and the actual events of the game.
This scroll also deals with the migration of salmons, which occurs once every 70 years,
and this explains why we didn't have Salmon Run available in
the first Splatoon, because the 70 year period wasn't over yet.
In order to stay true to this fact, Salmon Run shouldn't be available
in a third Splatoon game if its timeline is set some years after Splatoon 2.
About the Octarians, there is another peculiar detail: you know, the orange
eggs picked during a Salmon Run round are the same as the ones
you collect during the solo campaign in the Octarian world.
Why is that so? Well, one possible explanation would be that
the Octarians themselves go on a salmon hunt in order to collect
some eggs.
During the story mode, collecting eggs throughout the campaign enables us
to unlock and upgrade weapons, so this may be
some sort of raw material that enables Inklings and Octarians to improve their technologies,
especially weaponry.
Zapfishes are for electricity, and the eggs for technological improvement.
Anyway, this theory is possible.
To end this video, i'd like to talk about Mr Grizz again.
In a previous video, I presented you a theory about Mr Grizz,
feel free to see it now, if you haven't yet [The video is translated]
In this one, I'm going to give you three other theories in order to answer the good old question:
Who is he?
In Splatoon 2, the only one character missing, thus very important
in Splatoon 1, is Cap'n Cuttlefish.
We are told in the story mode, especially in scroll 25, that Cuttlefish
went on an investigation with Agent 3, somewhere he calls "the cape".
We can see a very enigmatic see map, as well as a fishing lure,
so these two details are closely related to fishes, hence
to Salmon Run.
And what if Cuttlefish was in fact Mr Grizz
who went on an investigation on Salmonids, and had open a shop in Inkopolis in order to
send some Inklings to collect eggs so that he can study
Salmonids?
All of this remains shady, we don't know that much about
this investigation.
Maybe it has nothing to do with Salmon Run.
Even if it did, it doesn't mean that Cuttlefish is
in fact Mr Grizz.
Anyway, this is still an option.
The second theory I want to talk about is the following:
Mr Girzz
is in fact an Octarian.
As we could see, the Octarians use fish eggs for their business.
You can find eggs all around their world during the solo campaign.
So if there are eggs in their world, it means that they have to get them somewhere, right?
What if they were in fact using Inklings in order to do their dirty work,
and Mr Grizz
was in fact an Octarian, hidden in the Inkling world? What if he was recruiting
on a regular basis in order to fill his pockets with fish eggs, and
bringing them back ro rhe Octarian world.
We saw earlier that there is a link between the Octarians and Salmonids, so...
It is a serious option to assume that Mr Grizz
is in fact an Octarian.
And to finish this video, I am going to give you a third theory, a little bit
excentric, but nonetheless pretty clever: what if Mr Grizz
was not a bear but a Sperm Whale, or any sort of whale?
Let me explain.
First, we know that Inklings know about whales.
We can see a whale skeleton in The Shellendorf Institute.
We can also see some on posters in MakoMart. Even the logo itself of the
supermarket depicts a whale.
So whales are part of the Splatoon universe, or at least, they existed at some point
et the Inklings are very well aware of what they are.
Why would Mr Grizz be a whale, then, may you wonder.
Or even a sperm whale, specifically? Well, you have to know that
sperm whales produce some substance called in French "ambre gris".
It is produced in the digestive system of the sperm whales, hypothetically after being wounded
by the giant squids' beaks after being swallowed by the whale.
So, sometimes fishermen found some ambergris,
and this substance is often used in chemistry, or perfumery,
for instance.
Well, as you can see, there is already some kind of connection between
squids and sperm whales, with the ambergris.
Well, in fact, that's not all, because in English, it is called
"ambergris".
And even though the writing and the pronunciation are slightly different,
we can see some hidden message appear.
Which is: AM BER GRIS, which sounds literraly the same as : I AM BEAR GRIZZ.
So we're moving from sperm whales to ambergris, to finally end up with
am ber gris, which litterally means: I am bear Grizz.
I think this theory is pretty innovative.
Is it pure language coincidence? Or is it a true will from Nintendo developpers
to convey a message? We may never know.
Anyway, Mr Grizz's identity
remains unknown for now.
We may wait and hope for little more information with a next update or even
in a next Splatoon game.
As for Salmonids, same hopes.
For now, it is still blurry.
I hope this video gave you some key clue to find answers to these questions,
and I hope you enjoyed it.
It you did, feel free to let everyone know by liking, commenting and sharing the video.
EvilSquid speaking, see you soon in a next video,
Bye!

Minor and Major Pentatonic Scale Relationship (Guitar Lessons) @EffectiveMusicPractice - Duration: 6:38.Hey friends, this is Prokopis from EMP, and today I will do my best to answer a question
that pops up quite a lot.
I get comments, or emails from people that get confused by this, even though it's not
complex.
And the reason for the confusion is that traditional books, or guitar magazines, in an effort to
simplify things, have presented the relationship between major and minor pentatonic scales
inaccurately.
Very often, for example, someone will show you this shape and say that this is the minor
pentatonic.
Or they will show you this shape and say that this is the major pentatonic.
Both these statements are true, but if you leave it at that, they can also be very misleading.
You see, both those shapes can actually be used as both minor AND major pentatonics.
That's because the major and minor pentatonic scales have the exact same structure.
You can say that they are one and the same, in terms of intervals and fingering shapes.
If this sounds strange to you, then follow me for a few seconds and you will see what
I mean.
The only thing that changes between the two is what we consider to be the main note, sometimes
called the tonic, or the root.
So for example, in the first shape, the red notes marked with a small m, are the root
notes for the minor version of the scale.
Here's an example for A minor pentatonic.
When I place this fingering shape strating on the 5th fret, the red notes are A's,
and therefore the root for A minor pentatonic.
BUT the thing that makes them sound like the root notes, is the background music.
So for all this to make sense, and not be just theory, I need to play this over an Am
chord background.
Can you hear how the A's sound like home base?
Now, what if the background chord changed to a C major?
Do you think that the A's sound like the root note now?
No, in fact, if you are not careful they can even sound weird.
But listen to this:
What I just did was to land on the C's.
And the C's DID sound like they are the root note, because now this scale has become
the C Major pentatonic scale, because of the background harmony.
So we have seen that we have a pair of scales, the A minor pentatonic, and the C major pentatonic,
that share the exact same notes.
They are essentially the same scale, yet they sound different, because of how they interact
with the background harmony.
You can say that they are two modes of the same scale.
Over an A minor chord, or a song that revolves around the A minor chord, it sounds like A
minor.
Over C major, it sounds like C major.
And this is true for all keys, and all shapes.
Pentatonics come in pairs.
In classical theory we call them relative scales.
For every minor pentatonic, there is a relative major pentatonic, and vice versa.
So how do we apply this in a practical and musical way?
As usual, my advice is to forget about box shapes, and start thinking in terms of the
string fragment system, or SFS.
That's because SFS immediately gives you control over both versions of the scale, in
all fretboard areas.
By the way, if you haven't watched any of my SFS lessons, I have a link below for you
to get the free SFS Fretboard Secrets mini course to get you started.
It's very cool, and I get very positive feedback from my viewers, because in it you
learn to move freely around the guitar fretboard, and break free from box shape memorization.
So click below to get it completely free.
You're going to experience some real fretboard freedom with this.
But for those of you that already have an idea about how this works, let me give you
the easiest way to get started with this.
I'll do an example with just 3 string fragments, because we don't have time to do everything
in just one video.
Let's say for example that you want to play the E minor pentatonic everywhere on the fretboard.
First of all you need to know the location of the E's.
You do know your E's right?
If you don't, then get the free Fretboard Memorization Toolbox.
I have a link for that below as well.
It's completely free, so NO COST means NO EXCUSE.
Learn your notes.
So we get our 3 string fragments, and place them everywhere, using the 1st note on SF1.
That's the root for minor.
But what if you want to play E Major?
Well, locate your E's again, but this time use the top note of SF1.
Most people play that with the pinky.
And... voila!
You have E Major Pentatonic everywhere!
I don't wanna turn this into a full blown SFS lesson, but you get the point!
What we learned today allows us to easily switch between major and minor pentatonics,
and by employing SFS you can move easily around the fretboard and be creative with both of
them.
If you liked this lesson, I'd really appreciate it if you hit like and share.
Also please leave a comment to let me know what you think, and don't forget to download
your freebies using the links below!
Thanks for watching, and remember…
Enjoy your practice and be effective!

EvilSquid speaking, see you soon in a next video,
Bye!

How I Wrote A Book In 30 Days Or Not - Duration: 12:10.My book baby mr.. Christmas is about to be released. I've had a lot of people ask me
How'd you write a book in 30 days? Oh let me tell you?
Hey howdy hey trainwreck, how are you today? I am the glorious trainwreck mom
Here don't forget to get your ticket punched by hitting that subscribe button
So you can see all the chain right goodness on a regular basis
This channel is a safe space for all train wrecks except here. We don't give you a puppy in a latte
We give you sarcasm and humor
So as I said Mr. Christmas is about the hit and
While I'm not telling anybody the release date. Just yet
Just got a little bit more on that one, but it's coming and it's coming soon, and I'll you've been taking notes
You know that mr.. Christmas was my NaNoWriMo project. What's NaNoWriMo
You must be new here NaNoWriMo is National Novel Writing Month
And that's when crazy crack headed writers like me
Get together and throw 50 thousand words at paper in
30 days it is
1,667 words a day to be exact now is that a possibility yeah?
Absolutely is your book done in 30 days not even freaking close
That's just where that's it because whether you're a plotter
That's me. I'm a plotter totally. I have my outlines
I have a very specific system that I use for writing or
You could be a pantser which sounds like somebody in school that just goes around pulling everyone's pants down
But panthers are like stephen king. I heard he's very pants ER and sits at this computer and just
Writes I hate that if you're a pantser and you can create something coherent and like
Cogent thinking and like a great storyline with amazing character arcs and you put like
Very little thought into it. I kind of hate you
Just a lot actually maybe I'm just jealous
But either way you know
Whether your pants or a plotter
You have to do your edits. You are not going to turn out
100%
grade-a
Best-selling gold on your first draft. That's why it's called a rough draft
You're gonna have typos you're gonna have punctuation issues you're gonna have some plot holes you're gonna have
Things that don't quite add up
Or make sense so you need to go through your edits
And I just realized how many
edits it really does take and they're not cheap and it's kind of sad and depressing especially if you're
self-published
It's really sad and depressing of how expensive editing and editors are so yeah
It's one of those things like dude. That's so rough, but no you're not going to write a book in 30 days
Okay, I've already started
researching and
outlining my new one
That's
You know a little bit different than this one
It's gonna be a little bit higher a little bit thriller kind of thing, but yeah
You know I'm already doing the research and everything before that I'm already doing the outline I'm already getting
plot lines together and plot points and things like that and just trying to
Get things together and then in October
That's plot Tober
That's when we start
really nailing some stuff down to you know make it easier for when we do the big crazy challenge of
NaNoWriMo in November, but even then after you've done a year's worth of work on the book
I've got friends of mine five years
ten years
working on one book
It's it that sounds crazy. I mean you guys are probably gonna sit there. No to 10 years, dude
Yeah, 10 years for a book baby some people tried for 20 years to have a baby
You know this is nothing new. It's a book, baby. It's coming out of your remind womb for crying out loud
You know yeah, it's gonna take some time and the biggest problem
It's never going to be perfect and that's something we as the writers have to come to grips, so it is never gonna be perfect
but with editing and
Beta readers oh my god. I'm in beta reader mode right now. I just sent out chapter 3, and it's it's very
interesting because
You're giving them a chapter
and then you're waiting and you've got what I do is I give a chapter and I give them questions and
Then I wait a week, and then I do it every Sunday. I ship out a chapter
Give the questions, wait a week
Chapter and I just keep going and it's that
Waiting. Oh my god. It's like I and I had a problem. I did this with my first two books I
Got very impatient. I didn't want to go through the proofreading and editing and it shows at 9:00. I pretend it shows
It's pretty bad. I'm not even pretend
I
Wanted to make this one as close to perfect as possible, so I am really going through the whole
beta reader phases
Proofreading phases my mom's really helping me out with that
and I love that but I might get a subscription to Graham early because I love my mom but I
Need to not rely on her. I think I love her. She's really good at what she does
I think she would have a marketable skill
But I don't think as a mother daughter that we have the kind of relationship that should also be writer
proofreader kind of thing
I value my mother's opinion. I do love her very much. I just I don't
want to have any
Conflicts going on so that's what that is, but yeah
I think Graham really might be a good option for me at this juncture
I've already had it go through one set of edits from a friend of mine
It's just it's so crazy when you sit, and you know everyone thinks you wrote a book in a month
No, you did it. Yeah. It's more like you
Wrote a bunch of words down and now you have to make sense out of it
Do you guys remember back in the late 90s early 2000s there were these things called magnetic poetry it might still be around
I'd seen
Something that looks like them so and there's just a bunch of words and one of my favorite things was take that handful of those
Words and throw them at the refrigerator, and then try to make some sense out of them
it's actually how I do my tags on my videos by the way I
Used to buddy to buddy. Helps me get the tags I get about 25 of them
And then I make my descriptions based on my tags
It's a little bit like you know magnetic poetry just trying to work with what you have
And that's what NaNoWriMo is you know you're throwing
50,000 plus words at
pages and
The real work comes after that
So no I did not write a book in 30 days. I wrote a book
Well, I'm still writing a book if you look at it
My book will hopefully be done very soon
Will be published very soon
But no, I did not write a book in 30 days I threw
30,000 words at paper
And I threw a plot I threw plot twists. I threw great characters
But no I did not write a book in 30 days, so
So when you guys ask me? How did you write a book in 30 days? The simple answer is I didn't I?
started planning it and
plotting it in September and October I
came up with a final idea and wrote in the morning at
lunchtime when I got home when my son was sleeping and on the weekends I
wrote non-stop and
then I
edited and
Then I wrote some more, and then I edited and I wrote some more
and then I sent it to a friend of mine to read and I edited it some more and
Now I'm in the beta reader phase, and I'm going to be editing it some more so
Yeah, that's how you write a book in 30 days, which is more like well
we're in February almost March, which is more like writing book in six months, so no I didn't write a book in 30 days I
Threw a plotline plot twists characters settings and all that fun stuff in
30 days all the rest of the work came in the months after so if that's what you think works for you
I know camp NaNoWriMo is coming up which is
basically April if I remember right and
That's where we do this all over again
Because yeah, we're those kinds of people
I'm not going to be participating in that because I'm still working on mr.. Christmas, so
So that's where that's all at so did I write a book in 30 days now
Do I ever think it's possible to write a book in 30 days sure if you don't sleep don't have a full-time job
Outside of your home don't have children or a spouse or friends or social life or TV or the Internet?
Yeah, totally it's possible
For me, and that is not going to be a possibility
So that's just where it's at. I would love to hear if you've ever partaken in
part taken part took or taken particularly I
Would love to know if it's partaken or part took throw that in the comments below
I'd also like to know if you have ever done NaNoWriMo
Have you ever participated in NaNoWriMo?
Have you written a book are you published? I want to know these things

Today we look at facts and theories about Evil Morty.
Have you ever noticed that there are some inconsistencies in Rick's past?
They told us that he had left the family for 20 years, but still there are photos
where Rick holds Morty as a little boy ... 14 years ago. What does it mean?
Well, the theory is that little Morty in Rick's arms is none other than Evil Morty.
Evil Morty, is one of Morty's infinite versions whole family has infinite versions.
When Evil Rick noticed that Rick C-137 was crying over his own memories, he told him that every Rick did not care about Morty.
Since Evil Morty controls Evil Rick, Evil Morty believes that all other Ricks treat their Mortys as disposable and interchangeable items.
At the beginning of the third season, the Citadel of Ricks was destroyed.
Evil Morty survived and those who survived with him founded a new community where Evil Morty became president.
Evil Morty guides us through the whole show, so he is more than probably to appear in the 4 season.

(Eng sub) [다이어트 레시피/484kcal] 전자레인지 당근빵 / 노오븐 당근케이크 / Microwave carrot bread - Duration: 4:21.(Eng sub : avelyn.lee@tgeagle.org :)*
Today's video is how to make a homemade carrot cake.
I've made a cake out of oats before, but today's would be easier.
First with a grater, grind the carrot
Although you've got to use some muscle, it's easier than cutting them up
and the juice will amplify the flavor later on
I started with the liquid base
Eggs for the protein and coconut oil.
The coconut oil could be replaced with canola or grapeseed oil
I'm adding maple syrup but artificial sweeteners can be used as well
Now pour the grinded carrots into this
I also added greek yogurt for the density and freshness
but almond, soy, regular milk will do too.
If you just pour in the flour, it might be difficult to mix
so premix all of it.
Because of the cold weather, the coconut oil solidified
So make sure you add it at the last (today was the coldest day in SK)
You could add baking powder along with the wheat flour
but since I did with the chocolate bread, I'll skip it this time
Crush the walnut and add that in the batter.
Now the cinnamon!! Wouldn't this be the whole point of carrot cakes?
I also added nutmeg, but if you don't have this spice, just skip it
Keep stirring until there is no flour left.
If you microwave it life this, you'll get a egg bread like muffin.
With a bit of baking powder, you'll get more of a thick cake.
If you want to compare, check my chocolate bread video
Make sure your bowl is microwave safe.
Since it's going to fluff a bit as it bakes,
only fill the bowl up to 70~80%.
If you microwave it for 1 min, 3 times in a 1000W,
you'll get this cinamon bombing flavorful carrot bread.
The texture is very chewy. Somewhere around a rice cake and a bread.
If you finish it up with greek yogurt instead of cream cheese,
you'll get this perfect healthy amazing carrot cake
As simplest it can get, I'd strongly recommend try making it.

Lesson 40 Learn English - The soup Kitchen - Duration: 3:01.Session 40 the soup kitchen
Laura and Sophie have had plans to help out and volunteer at a soup kitchen long before
they had their recent argument and fell out with each other.
They cannot cancel the event even though they have not spoken since Michael's birthday party.
Both Laura and Sophie feel that it is important to help out the less fortunate and those in need.
They arrive separately and exchange a cordial "Hello" and nothing more.
The supervisor of the soup kitchen begins to explain how everything works.
Good morning, girls! The people that come here have nothing and nobody to help them.
They have nowhere to sleep during the night and they have no money for food or other essentials.
Here at the soup kitchen we offer them food on a daily basis,
and we can also give them blankets if they come at night time so they will not freeze during cold nights.
None of the people here have a roof over their head, they all live on the street. Do you have any questions?
This is not really a question regarding the soup kitchen,
but is nobody trying to do anything to minimise the amount of homeless people in the city?
Good question! No politicians want to bring up that issue because they fear nobody will vote for them then.
There are many Non-Governmental Organisations similar to ours
that work for the demise of homelessness in the city and it is decreasing, slowly but surely
And what about that sign that says "NO PHONES ALLOWED"? Why are phones not allowed here?
The truth is that I don't want anybody taking photos here.
It is supposed to be a relaxing and soothing environment with no phones, and no distractions.
Both the homeless and the volunteers benefit from this as we believe in personal meetings
rather than constantly being on our phones
I think that's a good strategy. Nobody needs their phone all the time
Good! You girls will start working at the food station and help give out portions of food to the homeless,
is that ok?
Sure!
The girls begin to feel guilty that they argued about superficial things
when there are so many people starving in the world.
Hey, Sophie, I'm really sorry about our argument. I want nothing more than to be your friend again.
That's what really matters
Aw, Laura! I'm so sorry about my behaviour at the party. I also just want to be your friend,
nobody is a better friend than you! I've missed you

Adobe Spark: Make Simple Videos The Easy Way - Duration: 13:28.Hey guys! So as you're watching this on a video right now I probably don't have to
tell you just how awesome video content actually is. But just how powerful is it
as a marketing tool? Well 45% of people watch an hour or more of YouTube or
Facebook videos per week. More than 500 million hours are watched on YouTube
every single day. And more than half a billion people are watching videos on
Facebook every single day! I could go on and on but the point is video is
definitely the way of the future. The problem is not everyone is super
comfortable jumping on a live stream, for example, when there could be all sorts of
tech glitches or wardrobe malfunctions for their entire audience to witness
while it's actually happening. So for those of you who want to get creative
with video in a less intimidating way then today's tutorial is definitely for
you. We'll be taking a look at how you can leverage Adobe Spark's video function
in order to amaze and engage with your audience. So if you're ready, let's do it!
So we're going to get started by heading to spark.adobe.com - now I'm going to
begin by showing you the premium version of this tool for those of you who, like
myself, already have a Creative Cloud membership with Adobe, and then at the
end I'll also show you what the free version looks like... And an easy way that
you can get around paying the monthly Spark fee. So I'm gonna go ahead and log
in here and once you log into your premium membership account you'll see a
tab up top that says manage your brand. You will also see this one on the free
accounts but it won't take effect unless you actually upgrade. So this is where
you'll be able to add your logos, fonts and your brand colors which will make it
super easy for you to make beautiful branded videos that are customized to
you and your business. So this will be blank and then we've just gone in and
added our font and our colors over here as well. So once you've added in all of
your branded elements you can then begin by clicking this plus sign up top and
creating a new post, page or video - so you can also use Spark to create posts for
social media or even page layouts for your website but for the purposes of
this tutorial we're gonna be sticking to their video function as I find that this
is where people get a little bit stuck when it comes to getting really creative
with their visual content. So let's go ahead and create a video! This is where
it's going to ask you to tell a bit of a story, so all this means is that you need
to give your video a title and this can always be changed later and will really
only impact the file name once you download your project, so we're just
gonna go ahead and name this 'Test video one' and click on next. So this is where you
need to pick what your video will actually be about - are you promoting an
idea, are you telling your viewers what's happened, or are you telling the story of
your company? This will then preload a template which will prompt you with
clues about what to put in each part of your video, so for my purpose here I will
be selecting the show and tell category over here. So one thing you'll notice as
soon as we jump in here is that this tool is extremely simple and it's
customisability is quite limited. This can be really handy though for anyone
who is quite frustrated by the complex tools out there and just wants to
simplify their video creation process. So you can already tell that we've got a
few prompts down here... so it's going to prompt you to tell your viewers and a
little bit about you, what it is, why it is, show the product, how it's come to be -
and this is where certain things will pop up as well to let you know what you
can do to improve your video. So the first thing we're gonna do is choose the
theme up top here and I have my branded themes over here and then followed by
the generic ones over here which you will see on the free version as well. So
we're gonna go with this dark branded one over here. You can then head over to
music and select from their free tracks here unless you have your own audio file
that you can also upload - if perhaps you've pre-purchased your audio file
there... but otherwise I'm just going to select this one and here's where you can
go and increase or decrease the audio volume as well. Then we can move on to
designing the slides themselves and we'll be doing this in the layout tab
over here. So you'll notice that as you go along you'll get these prompts and
also it's going to allow you to record your voice over each slide if you wish.
The elements that you can actually place on each slide if you click on this plus
sign are: video, text, photos or icons. So you will find some free icons and images
inside Spark as well by using the search function over here but if you wish to
use video clips you will have to upload your own. You can also increase or
decrease the length of each slide using the slider over here. So if you click on
the '2 seconds' you can increase that or decrease it depending on how long you
want the video clip or the photograph or the text to show for. So I'm going to
begin by selecting the split screen function over here and inserting a video
of me for my first slide. So I'm gonna go ahead and do that on this side over here
and select the video.
Now you can see that my video clips are all in one, minute long video file here,
so I can just go and select the portion that I want to use in my slide by using
this little trimmer over here. So I want to make sure I don't go over until the
next clip here, so I just want to take the first 5 seconds and hit save. So it's
now accidentally actually placed it on the left side of my split screen, so I
want to use these arrows to move it over to my right side here - and then I can use
the button up the top right-hand corner of the video in order to zoom in on
certain parts of the clip if I only want to use maybe a portion of it or I can
zoom back out. I can also trim the clip or I can
lengthen it and then I can adjust the volume of the clip, or I can mute it
altogether if it doesn't really belong in this project. While you're in the editing
function and you hover over the video, you'll see a little hand pop up if you
click through it'll allow you to adjust the portion of the clip that's actually
showing since this is a wide video clip but we're only showing a portion of it.
So you want to just click and make sure you're centering the part of the clip
that you want to be showing and you can always play it just to make sure that the part that you want to show is
actually showing here.
So that looks good to me and I want to put some text over on my left-hand side
here. So I'm just gonna go ahead and type the word freedom and dot, dot, dot... Cool that
looks like a good first slide to me, I'm gonna go ahead on to my second slide. I'm
gonna split screen again but this time we're gonna be putting our video clip on
the other side. So I'm gonna use this same longer video clip and just
adjusting it to the portion that I want.
So once again while I'm in the editing function over here I can move my clip
around to make sure that only the part that I actually want to be displaying is
displaying. I can zoom in and out a little bit if I want to show a bit more
of the clip. So let's go ahead and click 'play' to see if you can see me and the turtle.
Yeah that looks cool and I'm gonna go ahead and add some text over
here. And for my third slide I'm gonna go ahead and add a photo this time around.
So I'm gonna go ahead and select a photo from my desktop but I could go and find
some free photos over here - but I've already got the photo that I want. It's
gonna be this one over here. Cool, that looks good and I'm gonna go ahead and
add my text and this one is going to say 'travel'... and you will also notice that
it's actually darkened the photo, so it makes the text stand out a little bit
more. Now depending on how much text you actually use you may want to lengthen
the duration of the time that the photo displays for down here. So maybe I'd go
for more like four seconds. I also want to make sure that the word is not
actually covering my face, so you can drag these text boxes around by just
clicking and holding. Maybe I would put it over here and it's gonna create our
animations customized like that there. And it's gonna zoom in on the photo a
little bit as well and make the text disappear. So now I'm going to speed
things up here just to complete my slides using the exact same steps that
we've just used
So I might end up putting a bit more information about this in the caption
associated with a video like this one, if I was using it for a Facebook ad for
example... I might put something about how we travel the world full time while
doing digital marketing for our clients. And at the end also you have the option
with these slides to just click and delete these if you don't think you need
them. You don't have to have all of the ones that they recommend and then you
also have two slides for credits and your outro, so you can't remove this on
the free accounts but you can get rid of this or hide it on the paid or premium
membership accounts. So you can then click on either preview or download in
order to view your clip, so I'm going to go ahead and do that and we can view our
video.
So I'd be pretty happy with that for just a few minutes of work, but let me
also show you what the difference is with the free plan by logging in as a
free user over here. So once you're logged in you won't actually have the option to
create branded videos if you were to go ahead and add brand over here, it will
prompt you to upgrade in order to be able to save your logos and your fonts
over here. So you can't actually have rendered videos unless you are on the
upgraded version. Let's go ahead and try and create a video so I can show you
what the difference is there as well. So while in the video function you won't
have the option to create your own branded videos with your logo over here
or your color scheme and fonts. And you'll also have this Adobe Spark
watermark in the bottom right-hand corner instead, and you won't have the
option to remove these final slides over here and it will have another watermark
in the final slide over there. So this is less than ideal and unfortunately at the
time of recording they're charging $9.99 a month for the upgraded version and in
my opinion it's really not a tool that's worth this kind of cost. You're actually
better off paying $9.99 USD a month for Adobe's photography plan over here which
is the exact same cost and gives you Photoshop and Lightroom... and with it you
also get access to Spark for free as a Creative Cloud member. So as a freelancer
I have found Spark to be a great tool for my clients who are maybe not so tech
savvy but want to have a crack at creating their own videos. And for those
of you who already have a Creative Cloud membership and you want to make quick,
beautiful videos then definitely give Spark a try. So I hope you guys really
enjoyed that mini tutorial and if you'd like to learn more about how you can
take your social media presence to the next
