HEY!

Hi, I'm Yitmarak. Welcome to my channel.

I am back with another video

and today we're going to PAINT!

So I've been wanting to make my very own book mark

for a really long time now and I decided to finally make one.

I love water color so

I decided to make a water color bookmark I have seen a lot of them before and I've

seen a lot of them online and I thought, I mean I could BUY them or

I could just make one.

I thought that maybe I could film it and sort of

make a bookmark DIY. So that is what this is,

a bookmark DIY!

So here is the bookmark that I made. It is a Raven cycle themed bookmark.

Now, disclaimer!

I just want you all to know that I am NOT a watercolor expert I just kind of...

just do it.

I just yolo my way through so if you're

not really a professional or if this is your first time painting

don't worry about it! Let's just have fun!

Grab you materials and let's get started!

The first thing you're going to need is some materials. I'm gonna be using

watercolor, brushes, watercolor paper, a ruler, a pencil,

scissors, and a cup of water for this video

Next, I'm going to mark the shape of the bookmark or the size.

I am making it a little bit over two inches in width and seven inches in length

The next thing you're going to do is that you want to start sketching.

So I looked up some guides on Google of what I want on my bookmark.

As you can see I have a deer right there.

and I also have the cover of the Dream Thieves.

My plan is to have a tree, a raven, and a deer on my bookmark.

It's really important to sketch it out just so you have an idea of where everything is

going to be and just to see whether it's going to fit or not.

It doesn't have to be perfect at all

it's just supposed to be a light and quick sketch.

Now here's a quick look look at my little drawing.

As you can see it's not detailed at all.

It's just to help me, or to help you, see where everything is going to go.

I'm going to go ahead and cut out my bookmark.

this is just so I have a smaller piece of paper to work with.

and then the rest I'm going to go ahead and put away

And probably make more bookmarks with it later.

Now, it's finally time to start painting!

I'm going to be starting with the color blue.

And just so you guys know, I don't really use a certain technique to paint.

like I said, I'm not an expert

what I like to do is just take my brush, dip in the water

some color, and I just dab dab dab away!

Besides blue, I'm going to be using purple and red.

Of course, feel free to use whatever colors you'd like.

But because this is a Raven Cycle inspired bookmark

I thought those colors would fit the theme best.

basically what I'm going for is a big and fluffy cloud of color.

I find much easier adding the color little by little.

make sure you are constantly dipping your brush in the water

so it is easier to paint.

I'm switching between the colors randomly.

I just put a color on wherever I think it's needed.

now here's the final look after adding the first layer of color.

If you like the way it looks right now then just leave it to dry for a little while.

But I'm gonna come back and add a little bit more color

and make the cloud a little bit bigger

But of course if you don't want to do that, then feel free to skip that step.

It's really important to leave your bookmark to dry for a little while

Before you come back and add some more color

because watercolor is all about layering.

You also want to try adding some darker parts to your bookmark,

or to your "cloud" as of right now,

so it adds a little bit more dimension.

so what I'm doing is that I'm making certain parts of our little "cloud" darker than others

Remember, this does not have to be perfect.

We're doing this for fun so don't stress about it too much.

just go ahead and paint your little heart away!

Now, after letting my background dry for a little while

I'm going to go ahead and start on my tree.

I absolutely recommend that you use a better brush than I did.

I'm using this rectangular, flat, brush

and it didn't really work when I was making the skinnier parts of the tree.

If you guys have a thinner brush

kind of like the type thing you use to put on eyeliner

a brush like that would work really, really well.

But because I couldn't find a brush like that

my tree came out a little chunky.

I'm making the shape of my tree at random

but if you guys would like to use a guide

then Google is friend to all!

Feel free to look something up if you'd like and follow that instead.

Now, for the deer I definitely needed some guiding

because I have no idea how to draw a deer from my mind

So I made sure to look something up that I could follow.

As you can see, I already started it.

I made sure to do a light sketch

And then after that I just filled in the color that I chose for it which is black.

I decided just to do all the little drawings in black.

but of course, you guys don't have to use black.

You can use whatever color you'd like.

For the Raven, I'm going to be using the one that's on the Dream Thieves cover as a guide

I'm following the sketch that I made earlier.

And right now, I'm just gonna go ahead and outline the outside

of the Raven with some watercolor.

The way that I made the feathers

was by making tiny lines of different sizes all around it.

I chose to fill in the Raven with some blue first

right on the outside

and then taking some black and putting that on the center.

I really wanted to add the three leylines symbol to my bookmark.

This was probably the easiest part to draw.

Again, I'm just following the symbol that's on the Dream Thieves cover

And I'm doing this in the color red because

I didn't want to use black again.

I wanted to add some lettering to my bookmark

so I decided to write Raven Boys right on the side

Now, I free-handed this, so because of that the letters

almost did not fit on the bookmark so

I would be careful (you should be careful lol)

and if you guys have one of those little lettering hole thingies(???)

that you can just trace the letters, you guys can use that.

But I didn't have that, and I really didn't really care either so (oops)

What I'm going to do next is take a pen

and outline all the drawings that I just made.

I think the pen adds a nice touch and

I also think that it makes it look more clean and it makes it pop a little bit more.

This is the final look after the outline.

Now you can't really see it on camera

but in real life it really does make a difference.

Next, what I'm going to do is

I'm going to add some splatter to my bookmark.

The way I do this is that I dip my brush in the water,

and put on some color and I kind of just use my finger to spread it all around it

I used the colors white and red

You guys don't have to do this if you don't want to

I just really wanted to add in some splatter

But feel free to skip this part if you guys don't want to do that

I actually think that I did pretty good for my first time

I'm really excited because I really want to make some more and

And that's it! We did it! We finished making a bookmark!

STOP YOU FROM RESCUING PEOPLE WHO MIGHT BE DYING AT SEA

BUT SINCE THEY CANíT DO IT LEGALLY, NOW NOT ONLY DO THEY GO AND

SHOUT AT THEM IN THE MIDDLE THE SEA, WITH CHILDREN, BUT

THEY ALSO ON THE RADIO AND THEY TRIED THE RADIO.

THEY TRY TO INTERRUPT THEIR COMMUNICATING WITH ONE ANOTHER.

BY THE WAY, THE CROWD FUNDED FOR THIS.

THEY BASICALLY TAKEN DONATIONS ARE PEOPLE SO THEY COULD GO

OUT TO SEE AND YELL AT INDIVIDUALS WHO MIGHT EVEN

DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY YOU SEE THE DEMOGRAPHIC CHANGING, I GET IT.

SOME PEOPLE MIGHT BE ALARMED BY THAT AND IT IS OKAY TO HAVE

Improve Your Vocabulary: 8 Ways to Ask 'CAN I...?' - Duration: 5:17.

Hi, and welcome back to engVid. In today's lesson we're looking at expanding your vocabulary,

so whether you're preparing for an IELTS speaking test or whether just generally you want your

speaking to become more interesting and varied, then this is a good lesson for you.

We're taking the basic phrase: "Can I...?" looking for some sort of permission, and looking at

different ways that we can say that. I also speak a little bit of French, and I find that

I can only say: "Puis-je avoir", and I don't really have any other options.

Obviously we're looking at English today.

So, a few years ago I found myself going down to the countryside and going for a rather

awkward walk with my now father-in-law, and I had to ask for his permission to have his

daughter's hand in marriage. Now, these are some ways that I could have said that.

I could have said: "Graham, allow me to marry your daughter.",

"Allow me" or: "Will you allow me to?"

Obviously you've got the noun: "allowance". "Allowance" more normally refers to money,

to have an allowance of money. You're allowed to have a certain sum of money. Okay.

Next word on the list for today: "permit". Now we have a noun here and a verb.

The noun most often speaks to some sort of formal permit to do something.

For example, to have a permit to go into a nature reserve.

But if we're asking for permission, I can say: "Permit me to..."

It's quite formal, so probably not the kind of thing I would say in conversation

to someone I know well.

It refers to permission. Here is the noun: "permission".

"Can I have your permission to do this?", "Do I have your permission to do this?"

The next word: "let". "Let me". This is a little bit more forceful.

It's taking a bit more control. "Let me do this." It's a little bit more persuasive.

Also, we have "let" in terms of a rental.

If you are sharing... If you are borrowing a place and you're living

in it, you are letting it. You are letting it. It's a similar word to "rent".

Next word: "enable". So, the prefix "en", you have "able", putting me... Making me able

to do something. "Help me to do this.",

"Enable me to do the most wonderful thing in the world.",

"Let me do this.", "Let me marry your daughter." Enable me. Make me able.

"Facilitate", now, this is a more formal word, more suited to the context of business English.

But if I was to use this word, which would be a bit weird in the context, I would say something like:

"Graham, I would like to facilitate a wedding with your daughter."

It means to organize, but it's not quite the right word to use here.

"Consent". Again, a word that is used as a noun and as a verb.

If I wanted to use it as a noun, I would say something like:

"Graham, do I have your consent to marry your daughter?"

Or if I wanted to use it as a verb:

"Do you consent me to doing a certain course of action?",

"Do you consent that I...?" Okay? So, noun and verb there.

"Go ahead", this is also the name of a sort of a cereal bar in the UK, the idea behind:

"Go Ahead. Go on, you can do it." Again, noun and verb phrase. As a noun:

"to get the go ahead", it means permission. "Do I have the go ahead to go and do this?"

And as a verb: "I'm going to go ahead and do this."

Okay? So: "Do I have your go ahead?", and as a verb:

"Can I go ahead and do it?", "Can I go ahead and organize the wedding?"

And lastly, let's think of traffic lights, yeah. So, red, stop; amber, getting ready;

green, off we go. So: "green light".

So: "Is that a green light, Graham?"

Okay? It's a sort of phrase to say: "Can I go off and do this?"

Often this phrase is used in the world

of film production. If a production has been agreed, the production has been green lit.

It's ready to go.
