Hello my lovely people I'm so glad you're here today if I sound a little
raspy I'm just getting over a cold so I apologize in advance however I am so
excited you're here today we are going to talk about eleven habits that you
need to stop doing in order to have a more fulfilling life that leaves you
happier and less stressed the first habit that you need to stop is stop
watching so much TV TV is the most passive activity that you can do that is
not contributing to your life instead you could read you could pick up a hobby
you could give back and volunteer you could do anything else to move your life
forward now if you want to watch a little bit of TV do it after you've done
all of your things that you want to do for the day and spend time with the
people you love make sure it's just a small amount and keep track so that
you're not spending hours every day watching TV habit number two that
you need to stop is to stop talking about people behind their backs now you
may not even realize this but when you talk badly about someone else the person
you're speaking to is just going to perceive you in that way for example if
you're talking about um how annoyed you are at your boss and you're telling this
to one of your friends your friend is kind of going to perceive you as
annoying that's something that I learned from reading personal development books
that what you're saying about someone else is actually attributed to you
not to mention talking about people behind their backs just leaves you
feeling bad and focusing on the negative and finally it's just not nice to talk
about people behind their backs habit number three that you need to stop is to
stop being a scarcity thinker scarcity thinking means that you think that life
is limited your options are limited you're entitled you think small you see
your competition you live in a place of fear instead of being a scarcity thinker
try to shift your mindset to being an abundance thinker abundance thinkers are
inclusive they welcome competition they have a positive mindset they think there
are enough opportunities for everyone they default to trust and they think
there is always more good to come habit number four that you need to stop
is stop living paycheck-to-paycheck sounds simple enough and the concept
itself is but you know in reality a lot of us still live paycheck to paycheck I'll
link to some amazing budgeting posts below for you to get started budgeting
if you are living paycheck to paycheck the most important point here is to
remember that if you leave a little bit of margin in your paycheck you are going
to decrease your stress around money so much because you won't feel that
friction about not having enough money at the end of the month habit number
five that you need to stop is blaming other people for your circumstances this
sounds obvious but you might not even be realizing you're doing it I see a lot of
people doing this with student loans so a lot of times I'll hear people say well
I didn't know what I was getting into I was only 18 who could let me do this I
don't deserve this education so expensive and on and on and on and the
thing is those things might actually be true but when you adopt that as your
default mentality your default is sort of a victim mentality which means that you're
not going to try to solve the problem that's why I choose to look at my
student loans as a blessing and really I'm thankful for them because without
them I wouldn't have switched careers I wouldn't know anything about personal
finance and I wouldn't have started a small business and my blog and I make
money online like I would not have any of that but for my student loans so
whatever it is that you feel isn't your fault try to adopt a
mindset and find a way to solve that problem and shift your thinking so that
you're not blaming others Habit number six that you need to stop is being
your own worst enemy now I am so guilty of this and it's so harmful instead of
thinking negative thoughts and being so hard on yourself whether you're
perfectionist or you're just very critical of what you do give yourself
grace and be kind be your best friend the more you like yourself the more
other people are going to like you so find a way to shift your thinking from
being hard on yourself to being forgiving and really being your own best
friend instead of your worst enemy one way that
I recently started doing this is with the five minute journal I'm sort of
obsessed with it it's a way for me to practice daily gratitude so I will link
to that in the notes below if you guys are interested in journaling habit
number seven that you need to stop is to stop offering to help people who never
asked for your help to begin with if you're doing this you know who you are
because some people might hear this and think well I don't really know what you
mean but those of you who do this know that
you are first to offer someone help who never even asked for it and the problem
with this is that it stresses you out because you're trying to be a fixer and
you're trying to fix things that are not your responsibility to fix and it leaves
you kind of as an enabler and just not being responsible for yourself instead
you're being responsible for someone else who really should be responsible
for themselves habit number eight that you need to stop doing is comparing
yourself to others this is like nearly impossible to do with social media today
but the more that you can remind yourself hey that's someone else's
journey not mine the more that you'll feel centered and happier with your own
life instead of comparing yourself to others and feeling like you don't have
enough or you're not where you actually want to be instead measure your progress
against yourself where were you last year where were you five years ago and
where are you going and that will allow you to make sure you're heading in the
right direction without feeling like you're not good enough or you don't have
enough the next habit that you need to stop is stop not celebrating small wins now
what I mean is for those of you who are the type-a goal-setting sort of
ambitious people when you accomplish something take a moment to step back and
celebrate feel good about yourself and really acknowledge how far you've come
whatever it is that you've accomplished so that you can appreciate yourself and
all that you've done this is really hard for me because I'm always on to the next
goal and I actually don't mind that but I know that I feel so much more
appreciative of how far I've come and I just feel better if I take a moment or a
day or do an activity or whatever to celebrate my wins
habit number ten that you need to stop is to stop saying yes when you actually
want to say no now I'm totally going to generalize here but just from my own
personal experience this is so much harder for women than men I know from my
experience and my friends that we always want to please and say yes and do it all
when really saying yes to all these things means we're saying no to
ourselves and our own goals for example if you get asked to do something every
night one week or whatever it is for you and you say yes to those things you're
saying no to whatever it is that you had planned on doing that week whether it's
your goals spending time with a loved one or just cleaning your house it's
saying yes to one thing means you're saying no to another things you have to
find a balance between you know what you want and then what's asked of you from
other people and know that it's okay to say no yes it's
it's difficult at first trust me but the more you do it the more comfortable that
you'll get one book that I highly recommend for this is called Boundaries
by Henry Cloud it's an amazing book I'll link to it below it will really help you
understand how hurtful it is to yourself to say yes and be a people pleaser the
last habit that you need to stop is to stop thinking you don't have what it
takes to do whatever is you want to do this sounds obvious and easy but I
cannot tell you how important this one is because it all starts with your
thoughts and your beliefs so if you think these positive thoughts that are
supportive and you're an abundant thinker and you are excited about your
future and moving forward with personal development and you believe in yourself
you can do literally almost anything you put your mind to but if you have
self-doubt and you are constantly thinking how you can't do it and that
will never happen for me and there's no way and bla bla bla all the little
self-talk that goes on in our heads it's going to sabotage any chance of success
you don't have to be the brightest and most skill to succeed but you do have to
have a strong work ethic be positive be realistic and believe in
yourself most importantly yes skill comes in at some point but that's not
the most important thing at least that's has been the experience for me I have
tons of failures and tons of experiences that most people would have taken and
said oh my gosh this is not for me you know whether it was law school or a job
or the CFP exam I have a lot of failures and I'll link to the blog post below
where I talk about my failures but just know that you know even for people who
appear to be successful in accomplishing their goals
it all comes from overcoming failures and believing in themselves and that's
the only reason I've been successful in what I put my mind to solely just
because I believe that I can so if you have a dream
or a goal just believe in yourself and know that you do have what it takes okay
that's a wrap for today this video is all about the habits that you need to
stop doing to improve your life I will link to the corresponding blog post
below and please subscribe it would mean so much to me I'm so appreciative of all
