Bryan Fogel Accidentally Documented the Russian Olympic Doping Scandal - Duration: 5:43.

-This is a fantastic documentary.

And like a lot of my favorite documentaries,

it feels like the subject sort of turns

based on what you discover over the course of making it.

It begins with you doping yourself

in a way that will evade testing.

Avoid -- get away from testing.

-Exactly. -And you use a Russian scientist

that we saw in the clip, Grigory Rodchenkov.

Am I saying that right? -Yes, Grigory Rodchenkov.

-And so were you honest with him

in what you were trying to do here,

which was to expose sort of, you know, the --

how people hide doping?

-Well, I was.

I came to him with this idea,

and that's a whole other story, how I get led to him.

But essentially, you know,

Lance Armstrong had evaded 500 anti-doping controls clean.

So I'm going, "Wait. What is wrong with the system?"

Not, "What is wrong with Lance?"

And in this investigative journey,

I get led to Grigory.

And I go to Grigory and I said,

"Hey, will you help me dope and evade positive detection

and teach me how to game the system?"

And he goes... [ Russian accent ] "Yes."

-Yeah. [ Laughter ]

And it's interesting because this was, you know,

a man who is behind the Russian athletic program

basically doping and avoiding being caught.

And yet he comes across, as in that clip,

he's a very loveable character.

Did you hit it off with him right away?

-Well, the amazing thing about this guy, as you see --

I mean, he's loveable. He's likable. He's funny.

He's garrulous, and then he has this side to him

which you could never imagine,

which is, essentially, he was the mastermind

of Russia's state-sponsored doping program.

And he wasn't just doping all the track and field athletes.

He was doping pretty much

all Russian athletes across all sport,

and this program was in place the last 40 years.

And in so doing, Russia essentially stole

thousands and thousands and thousands of medals

from clean athletes all over the world,

not to mention all the American athletes.

And Grigory was the mastermind of this program,

which I don't condone.

And on the other hand, he is this incredibly warm

and likable and loveable character.

-I can't believe, with everything else he did,

he had time to be in a documentary.

[ Laughter ] -You know, and that is the --

and that is the amazing thing about it, right?

I first started talking to him right after the Sochi Olympics.

And his job at Sochi is he's running the lab.

And what he's doing at 3:00 in the morning is,

he, with the help of the FSB, the KGB,

are breaking into these urine collection bottles

and dumping out the dirty steroid urine

of all the Russian athletes and swapping in clean urine.

So this is what he's doing, essentially,

while I'm corresponding with him.

And so the fact that he had time to come to Los Angeles

and smuggle my urine back to Russia to be tested,

I mean, it is mind-boggling.

-Now during this, he basically

has to flee Russia... -Yes.

-...because a report comes out --

Tell us real quick about that.

-So we had been working together at this point

for almost two years.

And the second year that we're working together,

there is an investigation that's been launched by WADA,

the World Anti-Doping Agency.

And this investigation was launched

because of this German television documentary.

And it's alleging that there is

a state-sponsored system in Russia to dope the athletes,

and Grigory is under investigation.

November 2015, they release the findings of these reports.

But it's only track and field at the time.

But it's alleging that this system is true,

and that Grigory is essentially behind it.

And in a period of about five days,

Putin is on state television denying all the allegations.

Not only is he denying it,

he's saying that this is an individual act,

and anybody who was part of this

will be held individually responsible

and punishment will be absolute.

And Grigory and I are Skyping,

and we're having a conversation about five days after.

He has two FSB, KGB agents living in his home,

"guarding" him.

He tells me that there is a suicide plan in place,

that they're gonna kill him,

and that he needs to get out of Moscow.

And I buy him a plane ticket on my credit card.

Um... It was just -- it was --

I just felt like my friend --

You know, wasn't about a movie at that point.

-And now he's here, but you have not

communicated with him for a while

because he is under now American protection? Is that --

-He is under Federal Protective custody.

So once he gets to Los Angeles, we spend about seven months.

And in these seven months, I compile what is

thousands of documents of evidence

of this fraud, of this scandal.

We bring it to the "New York Times."

This sets off a whole other investigation.

Everything is proved, and at the same time,

the Department of Justice launches their own investigation

into the scandal.

And because they believe that Grigory's life is at risk

and they get intelligence that Russia is going

to essentially do him harm,

he has been in Federal Protective custody

for the last year and two months

with this ongoing investigation by the Department of Justice.

-Well, it is a fantastic story.

It's amazing not only how you found your way to it,

but how you sort of reined it in once you had it.

Apollo 17: On The Shoulders Of Giants - Space Documentary - Duration: 30:31.

December 6th 1972 Eugene Cernan veteran astronaut and commander of Apollo 17 he

would be the last Apollo astronaut to stand on the surface of the Moon

dr. Harrison Schmitt better known as Jack he would be the

first geologist to set foot on an alien world Ronald Evans command module pilot

he would remain in lunar orbit operating a battery of experiments that would take

this last close look at the moon in the year 1675 Sir Isaac Newton was asked by

his fellow scientist Robert Hooke how he had accomplished so much if I have seen

further a Newton wrote it is by standing on the shoulders of giants

the engines will build up to a truck of 7.6 million pounds we have a cut-off at

t-minus 30 seconds this cutoff was automatic done by the sequencer one

went into orbit around the moon the next day December 11 Cernan and Schmitt

entered the lunar module and undocked

drive back to Challenger but before they left the surface of the Moon there would

be a brief and a final word from the last man on the moon

while Cernan and Schmitt closed out the last moonwalk and prepared for

Hi everybody, I'm a CRINGE CRAFT version of Disney's FROZEN ELSA.

You want to learn how to make me?

What's up dudes, we're doing our own CRINGE CRAFT version of Disney's Frozen Elsa today!

And it's only going to cost us $3.50!

CHECK IT OUT!

Let's take a look at the figure, what do you see?

Elsa has long white hair that's in a braid.

She's got big blue eyes.

She's wearing a dress that's blue and sparkly.

And she has red lips.

Here's what we are going to need to make our own Cringy Toys version of Frozen Elsa.

These Styrofoam balls.

Some googly eyes.

This kind of rope.

And fancy dish gloves.

Some glitter and last but not least, a red marker and a black marker.

And all this stuff came from our local dollar store and only cost us $3.50.

By the way you will need something to hold the glove up.

I'm using this soft drink, you can use whatever you want.

Alright dudes, step one, take the glove and turn it inside out.

Alright, once the glove is inside out, tie the middle 3 fingers in a knot.

Then turn the glove back the right way.

It should look like that when you are done.

Then put it on here.

That was step 1.

For Step 2 we are going to make Elsa's head.

Get a styrofoam ball.

Then get some rope.

I'm using about this much.Get your parents permission to use scissors!

We're going to use a glue gun again, make sure you get your parents permission to use this too.

Glue the rope to the ball.

Next we need the eyes.

Since Elsa has blue eyes, I picked out 2 blue googly eyes.

Then we glue them to the ball.

Let's give her some eyelashes.

Next she needs some lips with our red marker.

Now we're going to glue her head to her body with lots of glue.

Next we need to add the glitter.

This will make the glitter stick, she Elsa will look magical and sparkly.

Guys I think we're done, let's check it out!

nail color my 2 different shades I have breakfast in Tinseltown and the snow

must go on these are great great glitter nail polishes glitter nail polish can be

kind of a mess I've tried Rimmel OPI Sally Hansen and the Wet n Wild mega

rocks are my absolute favorite they are extremely glittery they dry

down smooth on a lot of glitter polishes I have tried it can be a little chunky

which that does happen because it is a glitter polish it has texture but these

are absolutely beautiful my absolute favorite shade is the green the purpose

in Tinseltown it is just a beautiful beautiful polish I love the micro

glitter I'm just going to go ahead and do coat so you can see it is extremely

glittery it's got green gold and a little bit of red glitter glitter

polishes are great for making regular polishes last longer the top coat that

is just with one coat so so beautiful absolutely love it

I did get mine on sale the green one I got for 74 cents at Walgreens and the

pink one I got for 74 cents at well before my Kmart closed there in my town

but they are just beautiful polishes whether you're just using it for accent

nails or tips or doing full nails whether it's alone or covert all ish

they are just beautiful polishes I athlete do you recommend them their

retail price is $2.99 I definitely still think it is worth it they are just a

beautiful polish they last for over a week with no topcoat I definitely

recommend top coat but even without a top coat they last a very very long time

all glitter polishes do but definitely definitely recommend these they're

absolutely beautiful but yeah I'm going to go with a second coat it's already

dry if they dry down so quickly so it is really fast and easy to do a manicure

pedicure with these they look beautiful on toes or fingers but I absolutely love

them so I would definitely recommend picking them up if you do find them they

are just gorgeous but look at that coverage and how opaque they are that's

with just two coats usually with some of the other glitter polishes I have to go

on with three or four coats to get full coverage but these are just absolutely

gorgeous absolutely recommend these I don't think you can go wrong with them

and they are even at the full price they are still a really really good deal so

anyway you guys that is my short and sweet video on the wet and wild and make

a rocks in order nail color I think they are absolutely beautiful

I don't think you'll be disappointed but if you do see these I would definitely

recommend pick them up I do have another shade it's like a blue and purple

glitter I couldn't find it but these are the two that I find but absolutely love

them they're just gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous glitter polishes but anyway you

How has Cairo changed?

Well to be honest, it's changed for the worse.

Cairo, when I grew up, was the hub of the tri-state area.

The roles have been reversed.

We used to draw people to Cairo;

for jobs, for entertainment, for medical.

People came to Cairo.

I left for a 15 year period. Spent 10 years of my

life in the United States Marine Corp and came back, actually on vacation.

I saw where there was a need for my assistance here at home never thinking that I would

be in a position of mayor. I just thought that there was a better way of life for

people who live in Cairo and if I could do anything to make that thought a reality

I needed to be in government.

What's that saying? "Be careful what you pray for, you just may get it."

You know when people talk about Cairo, everyone talks about empty storefronts or abandoned buildings

or just talk about poverty, and they portray the community as if it's weak.

As if it's broken and that's not that's not the case. I was with the mayor, we went

and talked to residents and we talked to business owners and they're the most resilient

people I've ever met. They are strong people, strong families.

People stitching things together to make their community a better place

and what's missing is the political will to match that strength with investment.

Cairo is a microcosm of what's happening around Illinois and across this country.

It is time to give Cairo and every other community like it, a platform to talk

about injustice, to talk about inequity and talk about a system that is rigged

so that wealthy people get ahead and everyone else gets left behind.

That's why I'm in this race. that's why Mayor Coleman is my running mate.

He embodies the strength that so many communities have; in places like Cairo and Rockford

in Galesburg and Harvard and the south and west side of Chicago.

We're neighbors. We're Illinoisans. We rise and fall together.

And if Cairo falls, we all fall.

And if we lift Cairo up, we all get lifted.
