Youtube daily report Nov 16 2017

hello everybody! today, I am filming a tag video. I got tagged by my friend Emma and

it is the finally fall book tag so let's do it.

I wore an appropriate sweater. number one, in fall the air is crisp and clear: name

a book with a very vivid setting. I chose a book I read in the month of October

and that is spellbook of lost and found by Moira Fowley-Doyle. this book is set

in, I believe it's spring or like early summer, but it still feels very out

autumnal because it's really rainy and spooky and there's like magic and

witchiness and it's just really really vivid. number two, nature is beautiful,

but also dying: name a book that is really beautiful- beautifully written,

but deals with a heavy topic like loss or grief. I've read a lot of really well

written books about loss and grief and things like that and I can just name a

ton of them but I think my favorite one that I think of almost daily is We Are

Okay by Nina Lacour. this is set in upstate New York over winter break. the main

character has lost someone very important in her life, but also dealt

with a really big realization, so she's just really reeling when she starts

college and when winter break comes around she's all by herself in this

barren school campus and it's just a really interesting and vivid setting and

it really reflects the tone of the book which is very empty and sad and a lot of

grief so I think this is one of the most powerful books I've read this year. I

love Nina Lacour's writing and this cover is unreal. number three, school is

back in session: name a nonfiction book that tell you something new. one of the

most powerful, important nonfiction books I've read this year was Ta-Nehisi Coates'

Between the World and Me. I haven't picked up his new book yet but I want to.

this is kind of a series of essays or one long essay written by Coates to his

son. this is a story of race in America especially about the black body

especially about the black male body and how it's constantly under attack

throughout history, but also in modern America. it's incredibly powerful. I have

so much highlighted in this and I feel like I learned so much and got so much

out of it even though it's quite a short book, so I super recommend picking this

up. I think you'll learn a ton especially if you are also a white American who

does not have to face same things that black Americans do.

number four, in order to keep warm, it's good to spend time with the people you

love: name a fictional family household friend group that you would love to be a

part of. obviously, my first thought is like Hogwarts. I want it. I want to be

with Hogwarts students. then my second thought was the Daughter of Smoke and

Bone. I want to be best friends with Karou and Zuz, but then the third thing I

thought of was Radio Silence by Alice Oseman. I love the little friendship

group. I also love Francis and her mom, which is a really great family unit, but

I also just love the friendship group in this book and I think it'd be so much

fun we'd just like read a bunch of books and talk about our favorite pop culture

references and it's just so great. I super recommend this one. number five, the

colorful leaves are piling up on the ground: show us a pile of fall coloured

spines. this is a short pile because it's the only ones I could reach without

moving a ton so I have here Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi which is one of favourite books of

the year and has this incredibly gorgeous cover, oh my god. The Sun is Also

a Star by Nicola Yoon. Paulina and Fran by Rachel B Glasser and The Girl of Ink and

Stars by Kiren Millwood Hargrave very orange and autumnal. number six, fall is

the perfect time for some storytelling by the fire: share a book where

someone is telling a story. the first one I thought of was The Mothers by Brit

Bennett, which is another book that I feel like I rambled on quite a lot about on

the internet and it is narrated, or kind of every chapter opens up with a little

bit of narration kind of a Greek chorus style point of view from the mothers, or

the elders of this African-American community in Southern California. so it's

ultimately the story of Nadia, our main character, but it's narrated all of her

choices and her experiences are kind of narrated by this Greek chorus town

elders. really, really interesting. a really beautifully written novel. can't

wait for Brit Bennett's next book. number seven, the nights are getting darker:

share a dark creepy read. I honestly don't read a ton of like dark, creepy

reads. if you have recommendations, put them down below but one that I did read

earlier actually in the summer I think was Down Among the Sticks and Bones by

Seanan McGuire. Down Among the Sticks and Bones by Seanan McGuire is actually a

prequel to Every Heart a Doorway, which was the first book in this series but

Down Among the Sticks and Bones is a lot creepier, a lot darker, very spooky and I

really like it. number eight, the days are getting colder: name a heartwarming short

read that could warm up someone's cold and rainy day and that for me is the

Night of Cake and Puppets by Laini Taylor. I'm so happy this was now a

physical book and I really want to get the UK edition, as well, because this is

just so cool it's all-- it's got tons of illustrations throughout it if you've

read Daughter of Smoke and Bone, you know the main characters in the story it's Zuzana

and Mik and it's kind of they're coming together story while Karou is off like

saving her family and trying to save her family and save the world whatever, but

this is so cute. I read it earlier this year as an e-book and I want to reread

it with all the illustrations now that I have the physical copy but it's really

short and it's just so so sweet and I did know I needed it until I did and oh,

my heart was so warm reading it. number nine, fall returns every year: name a

old read that you want to return to soon. I have one here and this I actually just

read earlier this year but Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor. this whole video

is like a Laini Taylor love fest, but that's also just my whole existence.

Strange the Dreamer was so so good I really want to listen to the audiobook cuz I

haven't listened that yet so I'm trying to make time for that but I'm really

behind in my reading right now. another one I really want to read it as well is

A Great and Terrible Beauty. my roommate Monica is doing a Libba Bray kind of

read-a-thon where she's revisiting some favourites and also reading new ones. I

really want to read some Libba Bray, as well, in the month of November. Great and

Terrible Beauty was one my favourite books growing up, so I really want to

reread that one. number ten, fall is the perfect time for cozy reading nights:

share your favorite cozy accessories. I don't really have any cozy accessories.

back home, I love my parents couch and all of their chairs, they're so freakin

comfy you can just melt into them. I really have one I have a cozy blanket

here that I might do some reading in this fall and winter. I don't know. I also

like to have a cup of tea, though often the cup of tea gets forgotten

and gets cold. and number eleven, spread the autumn appreciation and tag some other

people. I don't know who's done this. I'm always bad at tagging people in tags.

I'll tag Rachel Sterling, because I don't think she's put out a video in a

little while. I'll tag Kat, or katytastic, since don't think she's done

this video yet. I don't know who else. if you want to do this, do it or answer the

questions in the comments down below. thank you Emma for tagging me, thank you

for watching this video and I'll talk to you again very soon!

Anime Crimes Division: Episode 1 ft Prozd - Duration: 9:29.

In Neo Otaku City, there are two kinds of people.

The kind of people who can recite the Sailor Moon theme song from memory in the original Japanese,

and the kind who don't belong here.

When someone commits a crime against anime, they don't call the police.

They call: the Anime Crimes Division.

God dammit, Senzaki!

Stop!

Drop it, Senzaki!

You take one more step and I'm blowing those containers sky high!

Think of the women, detective.

Do you want their blood on your hands?

Do you know what this is?

It's a .45 MW.TRG Dominator from Psycho Pass.

Fully licensed, precision molded ABS casing, modified to shoot

6mm BBs from Tokyo Marui M9 mags.

And I know what you're thinking - did I fire twenty-six airsoft pellets?

Or only twenty-five?

No.

I'm just wondering if you're stupid enough to think you can kill me with an airsoft gun.

No.

I'm not.

It's okay, girls.

You're safe now.

Four shipping containers full of smuggled body pillow brides.

Incredible bust, detective.

Their "busts" are what got them thrown in these containers in the first place, kid.

Sir?

Sorry.

This city just... takes a toll on you.

For every shipment of waifus we save from the sex trade, a dismemberment of a collector's

Gundam goes unavenged.

All those mechas...

Lost in the night...

I thought you quit Pocky!

I thought you shut the hell up.

What's the next case, chief?

You didn't come down here just to give me a pat on the back

and tell me what a sugoi job I did.

Vandalism in Tetsuokanedatetsuokaneda Park.

So?

So?

It's about what they wrote.

Three words that could burn this city to ashes.

My God.

This could spark a war between the subber and dubber gangs.

Exactly.

Which is why I'm assigning you a partner.

Partner?

This mission is too important for you to lone wolf it.

So we're giving you a cub.

She's fresh out of Little Police Academia, but she picks things up fast.

I'm sure you two will get along great.

I'm Detective Diesel.

It's an honor to meet you, sir!

Which Yuri on Ice character has the juiciest butt.

What? - JUICIEST BUTT!

STOP WASTING MY TIME!

Uh, I haven't seen Yuri on Ice...

Christophe Giacometti.

God dammit, I knew you were nothing but a wannabe-a-boo.

No I'm not!

I love anime!

What's your favorite anime then?

Digimon.

I'm gonna pretend you didn't just say that.

CSI have anything for me?

Um, the paint is generic, but the font is Helvetica Neue.

Favored by the Subber Gang.

Which I found confusing.

If the Subbers did this, why "Dubs not Subs?"

Wouldn't it be the other way around?

I mean, we're in the middle of Dub Gang territory.

What an absolute shame for such a beautiful statue to be vandalized!

The statue was a cultural touchstone in the park and will now have to be repainted!

Could have been working fast.

Made a mistake.

But if the Subbers did this...

Post your fan theories to Tumblr!

Here we do REAL police work!

Detective!

Who are you?

Bob Dugnut!

I donated that statue!

Mr. Dugnut is the head of M4E.

The manga publishing company.

If these criminals are not brought to justice, I'll see to it that your ass is demoted to

tentacle vice before you can say Pocky addiction!

What's an "anego?"

Please ignore my friend.

She watches Digimon.

What do you know about the graffiti in Tetsuokanedatetsuokaneda Park?

But your font was...?

Sir.

My teachings from Digimon have taught me how to spot a liar and I don't think she's lying.

If I want to know about Last Airbender trivia, I'll ask.

For now this is MY investigation and you'll keep quiet!

I am getting sick and tired of being disr...

Dammit.

A gang war of this magnitude could destroy the city.

Wait a second... who's that?

Get down!

You saved me.

You're the Tai to my Izzy, sir.

They're Digimon characters...?

Looks like I still got a lot to learn.

I'd recommend starting with the manga honestly, it provides a lot of...

Manga!

Oh my God, you solved the case!

Come on... we gotta go stop a war...

You'll pay for what you've done to our statue!

I will use the power of the light to make you die!

No!

Wait!

You don't need to fight!

We most certainly do my friend for we have come to fight and fighting is what we will do!

You're blaming each other for crimes neither of you committed.

The true culprit is...

Bob Dugnut, CEO of the M4E manga company.

This statue is in Dubber territory, which means the graffiti on it makes no sense.

Unless you read it from right to left.

Same with the note at Subber HQ.

That's right.

It's not about the subs or the dubs.

It's about the anime versus the original manga.

Have you even READ the original run of Akira?

They cut out half the characters for the anime!

Half!

Listen!

We all have our differences.

Some of us dub.

Some of us sub.

And some of us prefer Digimon.

But we can't let those differences divide us!

Because at the end of the day, we are all united in our mutual love of animation.

Kimiko and I now declare this park...

I'm quitting.

Ha!

Guess you did him some good after all.

Won't happen again, sir!

I sure hope not!

Because we just got word of the theft of a one-of-a-kind Yu-gi-oh card.

Whaddya say, Joe?

You sick of this "wannabe-a-boo" yet?

Don't worry Diesel.

You're as weeby as they come.

Let's go.

So, basically the rules are for this challenge is,

just guess the flavor of the Oreo blindfolded.

Ready for the first one?

Yeah.

Okay.

Sup.

Ready?

I'm so excited to eat Oreos.

It smells like peanut butter.

[Both] Mmmm.

Okay.

Wait.

What do I call?

Oh yeah, I know.

So, do you know what it is?

Uh-hum.

One, two, three

- [Both] Nutter Butter.

It so tastes like Nutter Butter.

Ooh, it's good.

Okay, it's peanut butter, but, close.

Dang it. K, Blindfolds.

Ready?

No, I'm not ready. K now I'm ready.

Whoa!

Ooh,that smells good. That smells really good.

Oh, I really recognize this --

Wait, what?

(gasps) I know what it is! Just by it's smell, wait, okay.

I was thinking it was a...

Ew, wait. That's gross.

I don't like it.

K, I'm just going to go with my gut.

Two, three, pumpkin!

Cinnamon bun. Oh yeah! Pumpkin.

It's apple pie.

No wonder I didn't like this.

Yeah, I --

I don't like apple pie by itself

but this actually tastes a lot like pumpkin.

Yeah, I thought it was jelly with cinnamon.

That's not a really good guess.

(laughs)

The cinnamon, um, as in apple pie.

Go.

Cleansing our palette.

(laughs) Bon appetite.

Whoa.

This doesn't smell anything like...

This doesn't smell like anything.

(laughs)

You gotta open it up and then just take a lick.

K, ready? Set, go.

[Both] Red velvet.

Yeah!

I love this kind.

Where's my water?

I know, I need some for my throat.

Whoa, it smells like the apple pie again.

I feel like it's pumpkin. (laughs)

Pumpkin?

Wait, no it isn't.

What is it?

K, I got my guess.

K, have mine too. One, two, three.

[Both] Original.

Oh, we're right.

No, it's birthday cake!

That does not taste anything like birthday cake.

Awesome. (laughing)

Why'd you take it off?

It kind of just tastes like a normal Oreo though.

Okay, ready, set, go.

What is this?

Oh yeah. It's sort of good.

K you ready?

Three--

One, two, three.

(laughs)

One, two, three. Pumpkin!

Cinnamon.

Pumpkin.

Cinnamon.

Pumpkin.

It's not pumpkin, because if pumpkin,

this would be, like, an orange.

So you looked!

Cinnamon? Cinnamon! Cinnamon bun.

So, I was close enough.

Yes.

Doesn't pumpkin have cinnamon in it? Yeah.

I guess.

We wanna know your favorite Oreo flavor.

And comment down below. And, yeah.

Have you guys ever tried any of these?

My favorite Oreo is definitely Birthday Cake.

Red vel-- No, I don't know.

Red velvet?

Red velvet or birthday cake.

Yeah, those are good.

You have the blindfold on?

Yes.

Three, two, one.

(playful music)

Smells like red velvet again.

I'm getting mixed signals.

(laughs) I haven't cleansed my palette.

I'm deciding between one and another.

Same. (laughs)

Okay, one, two, three, chocolate.

Chocolate?

What?

What? That's a thing?

It's like, the flavor is hot chocolate.

Is that even a thing?

I guess it would make sense because the bottom layer

of frosting is brown and then the top layer is white.

[Both] It's good

You got a drink.

Yeah.

(laughs)

Oh. What the?

Ew.

What?

Now is this pumpkin? (laughs)

Ooh, I have an idea.

I definitely know what this is.

Yeah.

K, one, two, three.

[Both] Lemon.

Ooh, yes.

Yes.

(humming)

That's a classic.

Now you're classic.

K, this is the last one.

Final countdown.

Does this open?

No.

(cringes)

Ow. That hurt my ears.

Ha! I know what it is.

Oh yeah.

(laughing)

Classic. K, one,

Two,

Three,

[both] Mint.

Yes. My favorite, besides birthday cake.

Classic. Classic.

And then they're double stuffed.

They are? No they're not.

Yeah.

Oh, he's got some (mumbles) on there.

(laughing)

Wait.

(laughing)

Things You Didn't Know About Rachael Ray - Duration: 5:02.

Nobody saw Rachael Ray's world domination coming.

The short, bubbly ball of energy has an empire of magazines, TV shows, and websites that

perhaps only the mighty Oprah eclipses.

Given Ray's humble beginnings and seemingly grounded disposition, it's easy to see why

she's become popular.

But don't imagine you know everything about her.

Here are some things you may not have known about Rachael Ray.

Prodigy

Many of Ray's signature character traits developed early in her life.

Ray owes her raspy voice to a childhood illness, and her rebellious attitude was on full display

even as a kid.

She was once kicked out of the Girl Scouts in part because she "made up dirty lyrics

to a Girl Scouts song."

And it will come as no surprise to learn that she used her bubbly, go-getter personality

to become a high school cheerleader, topping the pyramid.

It was in the kitchen, however, that she truly flourished as a youth.

While she was growing up, Ray's parents owned a restaurant.

After they divorced, Ray helped her mother Elsa run a number of eateries in upstate New

York.

She put her knowledge of cuisine to good use, making and selling delicious gift baskets

while still in high school.

Looking to pursue a career in food, she dropped out of college and got a job in Macy's gourmet

food market in Manhattan.

It looked like her career path was set.

But fate had other ideas.

From victim to victory

After being mugged twice, Ray decided to quit New York City entirely.

She told Good Housekeeping, "I felt like the whole universe was telling me, 'You're not

supposed to be here right now.'"

Instead, she moved upstate to Albany and got a job as a food buyer at a gourmet food store.

It was there that she had the idea to teach cooking classes.

That led to appearances on local TV, which led to a guest spot on the Today show, which

led to landing her own series on The Food Network.

Funny how things work out.

She isn't a chef

It might be hard to believe, but Rachael Ray is quick to point out that she is not actually

a chef.

She has no formal culinary training, something she stresses so as not to take away from classically

trained chefs.

I can think of no greater motivation in the world to get you guys into your kitchen than

macaroni and cheese."

There are some things she can't cook

Ray might appreciate the simple things in life, but that doesn't mean she knows how

to make them.

The cooking guru has admitted that there are some basic food staples she simply can't prepare.

She told Mediaite that when she brews coffee "it looks like mud or pee" and that she has

been known to set bread on fire when trying to toast it.

Hey, it could be worse.

"Get in there sonny!

Beat that!"

Family matters

Ray talks a lot about her family, particularly her mother, Elsa.

She's also been known to name dishes after her younger brother Manny, while her older

half-sister Maria writes recipes for the Rachael Ray website.

Still, when it comes to family versus career, there's no contest for Ray, who prioritizes

her work.

She told Good Housekeeping that when she was dating, she would dump any guy who wanted

to be put first.

Luckily, she married musician John Cusimano in 2005, who she says is the perfect match

because he doesn't mind playing second fiddle to a stove top.

"I can't give a man an enormous amount of attention, and John is totally down with that."

But Ray's commitment to work over family has caused her some controversy and personal pain

as well...

Magnet for controversy

In 2013, Ray's aunt Geraldine suffered a fatal heart attack while housesitting for Ray's

mother Elsa.

Geraldine's daughter Gina blamed the Ray family for neglect, and the hard feelings were made

worse when Ray elected to film her cooking show rather than attend her aunt's funeral.

That's just one of many occasions Ray has drawn controversy over the course of her career.

On her breakout show $40 a Day, Ray often ruffled feathers with her tiny tips, sometimes

leaving as little as seven percent for the hardworking waitstaff serving her.

In 2003, Ray's decision to do a photoshoot for FHM magazine caused a firestorm among

her fans, while in 2009, Ray somehow generated a national controversy simply by wearing a

headscarf in a Dunkin Donuts commercial.

That one may have been downright silly, but the charges brought against her pet-food company

in 2017 were no laughing matter.

A class action suit alleged that the claims made by her Nutrish label, saying that the

pet-food contains "no artificial flavors or artificial preservatives," are misleading.

That's because the food actually contains, quote, "unnatural" ingredients.

And a separate suit alleged that recovering addicts in the Christian Alcoholics & Addicts

in Recovery program were forced to work without pay for Nutrish among other national brands.

Neither suit has been resolved as of the making of this video.

Made in America

Despite the controversies she's endured, Ray still isn't afraid to mix food with politics.

In 2016, she explained to CNBC her decision to base her furniture line in the United States.

"The American public is fed up with being underemployed.

I think our employment rate keeps rising, but we have skilled people that are doing

jobs that are not skilled.

I think we've been frustrated as a country to bring jobs back, and I think we're on a

good path.

More and more you see 'Made in America.'

We certainly try as a company to do our part to get it made here and bring jobs back here."

She has a budding acting career

If Ray's gig as a celebrity cook ever ends, she has a fallback career — as an actor.

Besides playing herself on shows like Gilmore Girls, 30 Rock, and Young and Hungry, she

also made her film debut in 2017 as the voice of Spam in the animated Emoji Movie.

Now that's Yum-O!

How is RWANDA stepping out of MISERY? - VisualPolitik EN - Duration: 13:46.

I'm going start this episode with a question.

And please, don't cheat… don't google the answer.

What is the country with the biggest share of female politicians inside of its parliament?

You might be thinking of Norway, Sweden or… perhaps Great Britain, right?

If that is the case… you are thinking wrong.

The answer is actually RWANDA, one of the poorest places in sub Saharan Africa.

I'm sure many of you already know this country.

At least, those of you who are as old as me...

In the year 1994, the Rwandan genocide appeared on every news station around the World.

It was one of the biggest atrocities of mankind in history.

In just 100 days, the Rwandan government brutally killed almost one million people…

. This meant that 1 out of every 5 Rwandans was murdered.

For decades, Rwanda was a synonym for humanitarian catastrophe, starvation and a memory of the

darkest side of the human condition.

Nonetheless, 23 years later in the year 2017, Rwanda is turning into something much different...

"Reflections from Rwanda: investing in one of the World's fastest-growing economies"

Yep, you heard that right.

Rwanda is becoming a hot topic in the financial world.

A country that used to appear on humaniarian aid commercials, now is starting to fill financial

newspapers.

And its president, Paul Kagame, has become the new African rock star, being received

at prestigious places like Harvard or the Brookings Institution.

Yes, of course, everyone agrees that his style is kind of authoritarian.

Winning elections with over 96% of the vote doesn't sound quite democratic, does it?

But, despite all of that, who can judge the man who is taking Rwanda out of poverty?

The figures speak for themselves.

Since Paul Kagame came into power, Rwandans have tripled their income, and the percentage

of the population that lives in extreme poverty is reducing year after year.

So now the question is…

How did Rwanda end up like this?

Or perhaps: is this too good to be true?

Is there some detail we are missing here?

Today we are going to answer these questions but before we do, let's take a look back

at history.

And trust me, this is a pretty intense story…

PREFABRICATED HATRED

Remember this date: April 6th 1994.

On this date, the plane the Rwandan president was flying in was hit by an anti-aircraft

gun.

No one really knows who organized this attack.

But the Rwandan army, whose soldiers belonged to the HUTU tribe, blamed their rival tribe:

THE TUTSIS.

Tutsis were a minority inside of Rwanda living in an apartheid situation.

Local media referred to them as ´COCKROACHES´ and many of them had already escaped to refugee

camps in neighbouring countries.

But no one could have predicted that the mounting prejudice would unleash such carnage.

´This is a warning message to all those cockroaches listening to us…

Rwanda belongs to those who really defend it.

Tutsis are not even 8% of the population.

If we exterminate them, no one will judge us because we will win"

While messages like this were broadcasted on the radio, the Rwandan army was passing

out clubs and machetes to civilians.

If any of those HUTU civilians showed mercy to his or her TUTSI neighbours, he or she

would risk being executed as a collaborator…

This explains why many Rwandans clubbed their tutsi wives to death and why even some Catholic

churches became human slaughterhouses.

In just 100 days, almost 1 million people died by their neighbours machetes.

And now you might wonder…

Why did the HUTUS hate the TUTSIS so much?

Were they really that different?

The answer is NO.

You see, many African countries have lots of different cultures and races living together.

South Africa, for example, has 9 official languages.

Uganda has over 15.

Nonetheless, Rwandan territory was surprisingly homogenous for centuries.

One single language.

One single culture.

The hutus, the tutsis, and other tribes lived in relative harmony.

But, in the 20th century, Belgium colonized this country.

One of the first policies made by the Belgian Government was to force the locals to label

themselves according to the tribe they belonged to.

This way, it would be easier for the colonizers to identify who was who.

And during the first years, the TUTSIS where the tribe in charge of government institutions

created by the Belgians.

But one day, those tutsis started asking for independence.

And that's when Belgium started supporting the hutus with racist propaganda.

This is how, when Rwanda became a sovereign state in 1962, Hutus and Tutsis had already

become fierce enemies.

That hatred was fabricated by the colonizers.

And many tutsis had to flee to refugee camps in neighbouring countries.

Among them was the man you see on the screen: PAUL KAGAME.

Remember his name because he will be the key figure in this story.

Paul Kagame was raised on one of those aforementioned refugee camps, this one situated in UGANDA.

It was the beginning of the 1980s.

Back then, Uganda was in the middle of a civil war.

And Kagame, alongside other Rwandan refugees, fought the Ugandan Government… and won.

This is how Kagame, as a military legend, was born.

In the 90s, he would lead other attacks against the Hutu-led Rwandan Government.

But the turning point was in 1994, 100 days after that horrific massacre on April the

6th.

Kagame was making his entrance in Kigali, the Rwandan capital, with 2500 soldiers.

The genocide was over and Rwanda had a new government.

This time it was a tutsi-led government with Kagame serving as the vice president…

But hold on just a second because the story doesn't just end here.

Imagine the scenario…

For one, he had to help lead a divided country, where the genocide survivors had to live next

to the neighbours that had killed their family and friends.

And it didn't help that Rwanda was one of the 10 poorest countries on Earth, with few

resources to export.

And on the top of all that, this brand new Tutsi Government was not an example of transparency

and respect for Human Rights.

As you can imagine, many of the soldiers who had taken over Kigali wanted revenge.

And during the next year, no one made an effort to stop the executions and the unfair trials.

If this wasn't enough, many ministers tried to use their positions to fill their pockets

with the little money Rwanda had.

Corruption was on the rise.

Meanwhile, Paul Kagame had the charisma, the popular support and, especially, the political

ambition to rise even higher.

This is why, in March 2000, the Hutu President Pasteur Bizimungu resigned.

And without an election, well, the inevitable happened…

KAGAME, THE ETERNAL PRESIDENT

In the year 2000, Paul Kagame became the new Rwandan president.

And he came to power with two clear goals.

The first one was to unify the Rwandan people after the genocide.

The second was to pull his country out of poverty.

And what did he do to achieve this latter goal?

Well, he traveled.

A lot.

Kagame created an advisory team that went to countries like CHINA, THAILAND and SINGAPORE.

Can you guess what those three places have in common?

Oh yes.

They were all countries that used to be poor but, and back then, they were emerging nations.

Kagame arranged meetings with politicians, economists and civil servants.

And from those meetings, he wrote down scores of ideas in a notebook.

Then he returned with the golden formula to build a wealthy country.

This notebook became the foundation for the brand new Rwandan constitution and, more importantly,

Vision 2020.

Basically, Vision 2020 was a government development plan launched by Paul Kagame with the goal

of transforming Rwanda into a middle income country in just two decades.

A modern, peaceful country where extreme poverty no longer existed.

But wait a minute because this is not your typical buzzword-filled politician's speech!

Rwanda's Vision 2020 has 44 clear and accountable goals.

For instance, it says that in the year 2020, 1 in every 3 Rwandans must have electricity

at home.

And both the Government and private consultancy firms are analyzing and measuring the progress

on all of those goals.

So how about an example?

Well here you go:

One of those targets was to make Rwanda a gender equality haven.

And now, the Rwandan Constitution requires that, at least, 50% of all government positions

be held by women.

In fact, at the time of the making of this video, the Rwandan parliament has the biggest

share of female MPs in the entire world.

And the wage gap between men and women is lower than in countries as progressive as

Denmark.

Today, there is a brand new generation of female Rwandan entrepreneurs leading the country.

And what's more, Rwanda is investing the little money they collect in taxes pretty

wisely.

In a country where 80% of its population used to live off of subsistence farming, the government

has built power generators and roads that increase agricultural productivity.

Now Rwandan farmers are exporting food to their neighbours.

All of this explains why 23 years after the genocide, Rwanda's GDP is growing at an

average rate of 8% a year.

This is a similar rate to emerging economies like China or Vietnam.

On the same streets where, in 1994, people where clubbing each other to death, start

ups like the RWANDA MOTORCYCLE COMPANY are being born.

The motorcycle factory was created this year, 2017, with American investment.

If you want to start a company in neighbouring countries, you will need weeks or even months

to deal with all the paperwork.

In Rwanda, you're done with all that in just 2 days.

And, of course, this has attracted lots of foreign investors, especially from China and

America.

And now you might wonder…

How did they end up here?

What's Paul Kagame's secret?

Well… my dear friends here at VisualPolitik, the answer has a light side and a dark side…

TITLE: TOLERANCE AT GUNPOINT

Everyone believes it: Rwanda works.

Streets are safe and tolerance between hutus and tutsies is imposed by law.

The Rwandan constitution itself forbids the use of the words TUTSI and HUTU to refer to

a person.

According to the government, all citizens are Rwandans and no one should care about

their tribe of origin.

Neither the media, nor institutions, are allowed to say anything that could spark hatred or

open past scars.

And… well… in fact they can't even criticise their government...

Both the police and the military are present all over the country to make sure everyone

follows these laws.

Yes, it is true, Paul Kagame is a popular president.

Indeed, has his own YouTube channel and a twitter and facebook account he uses almost

daily.

But no one else has the freedom to express their ideas freely.

And the same goes for the other political parties.

We are talking about a president who's been in power for 17 years and who wins elections

with outcomes bigger than 95% of the vote.

As you can imagine, this is far from democratic.

In other words, the Rwandan model is based on three pillars: ease of investing and doing

business, infrastructure development, and, at the top, an authoritarian government that

guarantees safety and tolerance… at the expense of other human rights.

And now is when we want to hear your opinion…

Do you think this lack of democracy is legit if the country can step out of poverty?

Or… perhaps Rwanda would be better off if they structured the country to a more democratic

Western model?

Triathlon Training Plan For Offseason Strength Building - Duration: 11:08.

Let's talk about how my triathlon training schedule

differs between race season and like, off-season.

Who's pumped up.

Get me a protein shake.

More sexy Speedo strength workout.

Mornin' Traininacs.

More drills.

More of the, ooh.

Yellow kick board.

The jury's still out on the speed of a yellow kick board.

I don't know if it's quite up there with orange.

More of the same drills today.

That's it.

All I do is drill, drill, drill, drill, drill.

(upbeat music)

Fun story.

I chopped down my flippers years ago.

So we do fin sets, I don't get faster, everyone else does.

A little bit of a,

kinda little strength day today.

If you haven't gone and picked up the strength routine,

go there.

Triathlontaren.com/stregthroutine.

I'm pushin' this hard.

Really just to be lazy and not have to answer

all the questions individually about how

do you incorporate strength routines.

Well, go there, that's how

you incorporate strength routines.

And in that, I put an email together about

what my schedule is like now,

focusing more on strength versus what it's like on

a race season week.

Actually,

let's talk about that today all right?

All right.

More sexy Speedo strength workout, SSS.

All right gang, let's talk about how,

my triathlon training schedule differs

between race season and like off-season right now.

Which is kinda still training.

But it's just, with lower intensity and a different focus.

So with that strength program that I've created

that you can get, at triathlontaren.com/strengthroutine

you're gonna hear is a lot over the next little while.

And then not so much.

So make sure that if you're interested,

you go and get it now.

Pushin' it at the moment.

It's free.

Getting a fair amount of questions from people saying

well like, do you just add this into your normal training?

Or how do you adapt your normal triathlon training

with the strength.

Well for starters as I've mentioned before,

you wanna do strength training like,

heavy, heavy strength training.

Building power, lifting heavy weights in the off-season.

You don't wanna do that in race season.

During race season it's more maintenance.

It's all kinda written down,

how I recommend dividing it up in that program.

But for now, what we're talkin' about is like

week by week, how I'm adjusting things.

So, let's start with Monday.

'Cause that's when our training schedule,

our calendar, i.e, my life revolves around

the training schedule.

Don't tell NTK that.

So Monday during race season,

we've got a big swim.

And that is upwards of about 90 minutes,

maybe a little bit more, but it's intense.

It's really purposeful.

There's a lot of bursts of speed.

Maybe there's dive starts.

Maybe it's 400 meter repeats at race pace.

Like it's very, very intentional.

And that is followed by a maintenance strength workout.

So because I don't wanna pair huge intensity

in swim-bike run with huge intensity strength training,

the strength training done during race season is like

stretchy bands, or body weight exercises,

or core exercise or even just rolling

out little niggles that pop up.

On the other hand, right now, during the off-season,

where I'm focused more on strength,

the swim intensity is backed way off.

It's maybe about 60 to 70 minutes.

A good half of that is just drills

where I'm really not working up much intensity whatsoever.

And, another third of it is like,

kind of technique focus swimming.

So, there's only like, I don't know.

Like 10 to 20%, that is very intense plus it's shorter.

However, the Monday workout is followed by

a more intense strength workout of upwards to an hour

that might come right after the swim workout

or it might happen later in the day

and that's the heavy lifting.

That's the routine that I've laid out

in that triathlontaren.com/stregthroutine.

So you can see how we're shifting the intensity from

race and sport specific intensities

over to more like functional movements in the sports.

But then intensity in like building the chassis.

And the rest of the week follows

a lot of those same principles.

On Tuesday during race season,

we've got a very intense bike, upwards of about 90 minutes.

Lots and lots of power.

Very purposeful, FTP power-zone work.

Right now, on Tuesday,

during the off-season,

the strength building phase,

I'm kinda just screwin' around for,

anywhere from like, 45 to 70 minutes on Zwift.

Not a care in the world about how the workout goes.

During race season, Tuesday evening,

there's typically a run anywhere from 20 minutes,

building upwards to about 50, 55 minutes.

Right now, during the strength training phase,

I have an optional run.

I'm not really running at all because my heel still hurts

and I don't care because it's the off-season.

During race season, Wednesday again,

is a very intense swim just like Monday.

It's also followed by another maintenance session.

And then the afternoon, there's a very intense run.

Right now, Wednesday is a non-intense swim.

Lots of drills, lots of technique.

Not really tiring myself out.

And afterwards, maintenance session and again, optional run.

But instead of being 20 to 50 minutes

with very purposeful time measures and goals,

it's kinda just an optional run.

So again you can see, race season, very intense.

Off-season, neh, just kinda show up.

Thursday during race season basically matches

Tuesday during race season.

Intense morning bike, ideally followed by a brick,

or hard run in the evening.

Thursday during the off-season,

screwin' around on Zwift for 45 to 70 minutes

and an optional 20 minute run.

Friday during race season, we have another intense swim

followed by a little bit of maintenance work,

body work, stability work, core work.

Not very intense strength work.

The intensity is in that swim.

Off-season right now,

same sorta thing, short, technique focused swim,

nothing too crazy.

But, that's where we throw in the second intense

strength workout, either later in the afternoon,

or right after the swim.

Like we want that to be boom.

Huge loads.

So what you can see throughout the entire plan,

is that we're still having basically the same number

of workouts, but we're taking a lot of the intensities out

of swimming and biking and running.

So that we've got the energy and our body

has the ability to repair itself and keep up

with the load, literally, the load

that we are placing on it.

Lifting heavy weights, doing heavy deadlifts

in that strength training.

But we're not backing off of swimming

and biking and running entirely.

I'm still staying activated so that

I've still got like little tiny bursts of intensity

so my body isn't completely losing swim-bike-run fitness.

But I'm basically just in kinda maintenance mode,

of two to three workouts per week

in each of the disciplines.

And that's enough to make sure that I'm not losing

a ton of fitness.

Sure I might drop down from that top end of like,

really intense race specific fitness,

but you can only maintain that for a month,

two months, three months throughout the course of a year.

And then you gotta give your body a break.

So right now, I'm maintaining my base level fitness,

while increasing my base level strength.

I'm building the foundation so that when I start

adding intensities to that race specific goal

that I'm going for, I've got a bigger, better,

stronger foundation because of that strength work.

That sounded a little rambly,

but I think there's some gold in there.

Off-season, just a bike.

Like just, be on the bike, that is all.

Just show up, put your bump on a bike saddle.

That does not count.

Sunday, during the race season,

we're talking about a run focused brick.

So I'll do a 20 to 30 minute,

just light bike, and then I'll go out

for anywhere from a 70 minute

to a two hour run.

Off-season focusing on strength right now.

Just do a long run.

Anywhere from 60 to I don't know, 90 minutes.

But, not really worry about the pace at all.

So Trainiacs, there you go.

That's my gym trainer impression.

Who's pumped up?

Get me a protein shake.

Mm, delicious.

Get my swell on.

That's how I tailor triathlon training to

also including some strength training.

Very important to do both,

but at certain parts of the year.

Triathlontaren.com/stregthroutine.

Get it.

And you know what I haven't done in a while?

We got a good Podcast guest,

a guy that's been in the industry since like, 1985.

And I'll give ya' hint,

he has something to do with these.

And I haven't included a little teaser of the Podcast lately

so, I'm gonna bring you into it.

Yeah, right over here. (upbeat music)

Podcast Central.

I always say that there are very few things

in this world that are as fun when you're 60 years old,

as when you're six years old,

and riding a bike is one of them.

Like you still get that giddy sick feeling

that you got when you were a kid riding around.

Yeah and it's

interesting because bikin'

it's really consistent.

You can get injured.

Like I've broke, tore, a rotator cuff,

so I couldn't ride for like four months.

While it healed, I'd rehab.

Well as soon as I got back on my bike,

well I could tell that my fitness was gone.

But the fun was still there.

It was a pretty big move forward.

And, you know, it's still affecting the industry now.

So, I'm all happy about that.

So I think that, that was one of the best interviews

we've done yet.

You?

Yeah, he's great.

He was great.

John Cobb, Cobb Cycling.

As he said in the interview, towards the end,

he's like well, you know the downside of being

in the industry so long is that,

you know you get old and that's how you get stories

and something like that, I don't know.

He said it much more intelligently with a southern drawl.

So like, just sounds like butter.

Soup now? Yep.

Yeah.

Lauren Roberts $159,200 KILLER POT! | S5 E29 Poker Night in America - Duration: 21:30.

- From Playground Poker Club in Kahnawake, Quebec

this is Poker Night in America.

(lively music)

- What's up guys, and welcome to Poker Night

presents Party Poker Live

at the Playground Poker Club in Montreal.

I'm Doug Polk.

That's right my name is just two syllables, efficiency.

- Antonio Esfandiari is our big winner so far today,

up 71,000.

A couple other small winners here,

Lauren Roberts and Jeff Gross.

And Rob Yong is down the most, $86,000,

but looking to make a change.

Lauren taking a quick nap before gets her straddle.

You don't wanna miss your straddle guys.

Poker Night is brought to you by Kimo Sabe Mezcal.

- Call.

- Jeff Gross limping into the pot with nine to the button.

Again, I'd like to see him raise it up.

Price these guys out, build the pot.

You've got position, you've got pocket nines man.

- Calling is the thing to do then.

- Krpan calls Ace ten suit in, Roberts calls King Queen.

Trickett called ten six here as well.

And Esfandiari, the big one, has ace five off.

- He will check.

- It's almost our first family, we're missin' Rob.

- Family Pot.

- No Rob though.

I miss Rob, I miss Rob.

- I know I miss him already, where is he?

- Seven, five, five.

Big flop for Antonio, flopping trips

with the best possible kicker.

- 900.

- And Jeff Gross is gonna start off

with a bet here on the flop.

These flops can get tricky,

although he does bet extremely small.

Giving himself some room to place a post flop.

Krpan calls back to ...

Why not, it's just a small bet.

And now Antonio has to decide whether to trap or fast play.

Bumps up to $6,000.

And now Jeff has a kind of ugly spot.

Antonio's saying he has a five or a bluff.

Jeff will make that call,

Krpan gets out of the way and we are heads up.

- Heads up.

- I love heads up.

Three in the turn.

Not a good card for Jeff Gross.

If Antonio was semi-bluffing the flop with six four,

he got there on the turn has made a straight.

- Bet.

$14,300.

- Antonio continues the aggression on the turn.

And frankly if I'm Jeff Gross,

I've gotta consider laying this down.

- Call.

- Jeff going nowhere though.

Dead two and nine.

Let's see if the flow show can get something going here.

Close, but no cigar.

Now Antonio still has three of a kind with the best kicker.

But just in case that wasn't enough for him,

he's got the ace of clubs as well.

Which means, Jeff Gross could not have made an up flush.

Now I know these two guys are good friends,

but even against your best buddy,

business is business and sometimes you've gotta open shop.

- $29,200.

- Jeff can have so many better hands here.

I think he has a pretty clear fold.

It's tough laying it down when you flop an over pair.

- This is where it hurts.

- But you gotta know when to let it go.

- Six eight, six four, or a five.

- Take a look.

- Uhhh.

- Straddle?

- Alright I'll do ...

- Straddle $1,600.

- Let's let PBS.

- I can't do it.

- You can't straddle right?

16's the max.

Not that I would, but just so I know.

- Once again we have an action packed, straddled hand.

- Ooh my man.

That is my man.

- Yong looks down at ace jack, bumps it up.

Krpan makes a big fold with king jack, like it's nothing.

Was dominated, nice to get out of the way.

Antonio defends his straddle with honor.

Interesting board, both players catch a small piece.

Antonio has middle pair.

And Yong has a gutter to the nuts.

Big flop bet here from Yong,

$15,000 into a pot of around 17 or 18 thousand.

This hefty wager will probably get called.

But he's setting up an ability to go the distance

that might get Antonio off of a lot of his hands.

Unless of course, you turn the nuts.

Now Antonio can't feel good about the situation.

A ten's pretty weak on this board.

He might have a few weaker hands.

By check calling here, Yong gives Antonio room to bluff.

And look, if you're ever playing with Antonio,

give him room to bluff.

A nine on the river might kill the action.

Antonio was really hoping

for a river like the three of hearts.

Or he could represent a flush as well as a straight.

As his opponent wasn't likely to have either or those hands.

Ace jack will take it down.

Antonio Esfandiari does not bite the bait on the river.

When we come back, you will not believe what happens.

Hashtag ClickBait, Hashtag StickAround.

- Welcome back to Poker Night presents Party Poker Live

at the Playground Poker Club in Montreal.

We're still six-handed at three haded here.

Back down to the micro stakes.

100 and 200 dollar blinds with 300 dollar anti.

- Raise.

- Raise $1,000.

Call.

- We have a raise from Sam Trickett with the ace deuce off.

And a call from Roberts with nine eight.

- Should we kick it up to one two four,

for the last hour and a half?

- I have no objections.

- I would love to.

- Both players pair the flop,

but Roberts in the lead with top pair.

- You got me.

- That means you have to put four in yeah?

- What?

- You have to put four in there.

- And she's gonna go ahead and take the betting lead.

- That was the 16 you just won.

You know that right?

- You put four in yeah?

- Many many times.

- Trickett's not buying it and pumps it up to $6,000.

If he gets a fold it's good because

no matter what hand Lauren has,

she has a lot of equity.

And if she calls he still has some ways to win the pot.

Jack on the turns actually a pretty good card for Roberts

because now she has a straight shot

to go along with her pair.

If I'm in Trickett's shoes,

I've gotta be pretty afraid of that card.

I'd probably slow down here.

Trickett likes to live life in the fast lane.

Firing again.

I do not imagine this is going to work.

But maybe he's looking to go the distance.

And she makes the call.

- They run a game on there on Twitch a lot.

They have a steady game there.

- Four on the river changes nothing.

Roberts checks one more time over to Trickett.

Is he going to go for the glory?

Now Roberts realizes that she's behind a lot of hands.

Like ten nine, or six five.

But it's possible Sam has a trick up his sleeve.

Big fold there on the river with a flop top pair.

And the bluff will take it down.

- Nice bet.

- Tricky.

- We have another straddle pot.

Yong makes it 400, Trickett makes it 800.

The real question we're all wondering,

why was Doug not invited to this game?

I'm free all the time everyone.

We've gotta talk to production.

Anyway back to the hand.

Krpan raising it up with king queen.

Roberts calling with ace jack.

Yong skadoodles as does Trickett.

Heads up to the flop.

You know I'm not much of a hat guy,

but I'm thinking that might change.

King ten five, Krpan flops top pair.

Roberts hops to get under the nuts

with a backdoor flush draw.

We should be seeing a little bit of action.

Bet's $4,000, and Roberts makes the call.

She could raise, put a little pressure on.

But call works just fine.

Roberts hits the straight in the turn

and also picks up the royal flush draw.

If a jack of clubs comes on the river,

I don't think she's gonna lose the pot.

Now Krpan does have top two,

so even though she has the straight,

she will lose if this river is a king or a queen.

So she's gonna have to dodge a couple of cards.

But she's in great shape now to win the pot.

This is gonna get expensive for Krpan quick,

unless he can find his way into a full house.

Once Krpan faces this raise from Roberts,

he knows he's in pretty tough spot.

If the rivers comes an ace jack or nine,

his hand will be a lot worse.

If it's a club his hand becomes almost worthless.

So he's got a tough decision to make here.

When facing this raise, generally speaking,

you're gonna have to call and look to evaluate,

but Krpan's got other ideas and moving in on the turn.

But there's no way this is gonna get through.

Roberts is gonna take her time here.

But ultimately she's gonna have to call.

She could be up against ace jack

as well and be free rolling.

She could maybe up against a set and be ahead.

And even if your opponent shows you a flush,

well that's not great.

But you can still win if the river comes another club.

- Is it like 70 or something?

I think I figured out ...

60, 70 something like that ...

Alright I guess I have to call you.

Would you like to run it once or twice?

Whatever you want.

Yes I call.

- Once or twice?

- Once.

- Okay, leaving it all on the line.

- Good luck guys.

- Also can you really pass on the chance to hit that royal?

- That was good.

Krpan seems thrilled.

Roberts will call into the pot with pocket sixes.

On the conservative side here.

- Is this mine?

- Yeah. - How much is it?

- Yong will call with four three off.

Trickett's got other things in mind though,

and he makes it $4,800 to go here in the largest straddle.

Good opportunity for Roberts to call and place a ...

But Yong has no way

to get into the pot with a hand that bad.

- I'm doing my part Sam, to help get you even.

- Four, deuce, deuce.

Actually a strong flop for sixes despite not flopping a six.

You don't have any over pair with sixes too much.

You have to be happy when that does happen.

Pretty good flop as well for Tricketts to take a stab at.

Unless Roberts had a pair she played conservatively preflop,

She's mainly gonna have over cards to the board.

With pocket sixes though,

Roberts is going to at least see the turn.

But I could see her calling more streaks than that.

In fact, Roberts feels so good about this situation

she's making it $15,000 to go.

Unfortunately for Trickett, his stop should be here.

But he's going nowhere

and I don't even know what he's doing at this point.

I mean I get trying to play some poker.

- God I love Trickett.

He's so good. - He is good.

- What's it like being good Trickett?

- He is good. - He is good.

- Yep he's pretending you had a two.

- I have a pair.

- You have a pair? - Yes.

- Now in the interest of good will...

- We both have a pair of twos.

(laughing)

- Oh my god you have quads?

Dammit.

- Only Francois can make quads, let's be honest.

There's only one guy I know who can make quads.

I've never seen it, Francois's guy.

- This is a tough one.

This is honestly tough for Lauren because

there are possibly some bluffs.

I mean if you opponent's gonna float king seven on the flop,

he could have anything.

- I don't know, it feels like

you have a king or a queen in your hand.

- Right on the money.

- Can't really call.

- Fold.

- Pick one card.

- On point there Lauren.

- That one. - Alright.

- This one?

- Seven of spades, not what you wanna see.

- Good job.

- Roberts trials this pot to $400.

Action folds to Yong on the button.

Opening up with nine deuce, to a big sized raise.

$3,000 to go.

Rob enjoys playing his buttons, that's for sure.

Trickett with his lucky hand,

king seven suited back in the mix.

Look, I always say,

if you get a hot streak with a hand,

you've gotta ride it out.

Roberts lets the big blind go.

Back over to Yong, going nowhere with the nine deuce suited.

King, jack, deuce.

Both players flop pairs.

Trickett with top pair, Yong with bottom.

- $11,000.

- Trickett bets $11,000 on the flop.

And you're not happy if you're Yong,

but you're still likely gonna have to call.

You could improve to 2 pair of trips on a nine or a deuce.

You might be ahead, you might give up.

You likely just have to see the turn.

There she is.

The nine of clubs.

And it's an especially juicy turn.

Because Trickett also has the flush

trying to go along with it.

You just can't make this stuff up.

I like Trickett's check here on the turn.

Playing some pot control.

If he bets and gets raised, it could get out of hand.

It's a nice check call hand,

and he'll have to play some rivers.

For Yong clear bet, two pair, very likely ahead.

Get some value, set yourself up

for some good river situations.

Now there are gonna be some bad rivers here for Yong.

A lot of them actually.

However this is one of the best rivers in the deck,

other than hitting a boat.

He now can be very certain his two pair is good.

And if Trickett does have a hand like a king or queens,

or maybe even a jack,

he might pay him off if he bets around 30-40 thousand.

- Bet $26,000.

- What you got?

- One pair.

(laughing)

- He sounded so miserable.

He said what do you got?

And he was so miserable, he said one pair.

And the way he said it like ...

(laughing)

- This is a very close and tough spot for Sam.

I could see him going either way.

And I couldn't fault a call.

But he makes a lay down.

- This is why I'm embarrassed yeah.

- Two pairs somehow?

Two pair.

- So, that's why I'm embarrassed, I just had a plan ...

- That's gotta be one of the larger pots

won with nine deuce in televised poker history.

It's just a hard hand to play, but incredibly fun to watch.

Stick around and we'll wrap things up when we return.

Top 10 Huge Crimes That Were Covered Up - Duration: 8:18.

Hi everybody, welcome back to another most amazing top 10 video.

I'm your host Landon Dolatsingh.

Crimes are committed everyday and a lot of the time, people try to conceal any evidence

of their wrongdoing.

Well, today we will be looking at the top 10 huge crimes that were covered up.

Starting us off in at number 10 we have, The tobacco industry.

Lung cancer used to be a very rare disease, so rare that doctor's thought it was a once

in a lifetime disease.

However, after the mass production and marketing of cigarettes in the 19th century, it lead

to a lung cancer epidemic.

Many studies were conducted and they all found a correlation between smoking cigarettes and

lung cancer but the tobacco industry disputed this evidence because they obviously don't

want their sales to decline.

Even during production, they knew that cigarettes could be very bad for your health but they

continued to make them because it came with a nice paycheck.

Up next in at number 9 is The JFK assassination.

This is probably one of the biggest government cover-ups ever.

It is not confirmed however, but there are numerous conspiracy theories surrounding his

assassination.

Initial reports said that the shooter was Lee Harvey Oswald but then within a couple

of days he was shot and killed in from of hundreds of people on his way into the police

station so a lot of people believe that he was shot by the CIA in order to shut him up.

Other theories claim that there were multiple gunmen or that a rogue secret service agent

accidentally shot the President.

I guess it's safe to say that we may never know the full story.

CIA torture techniques comes in at number 8.

Back in 2014, the Senate Report on CIA detention interrogation program was released and the

public saw that the CIA had been not only using illegal interrogation techniques, but

that those horrifying torture techniques didn't even work that well.

We're not sure what the government wanted to cover up more, the fact that they had been

using awful torture techniques or that they were so bad at it.

CIA mind control program makes it into number 7.

Project MK-Ultra was a program that illegally experimented on humans.

The CIA wanted to develop drugs and procedures that could be used in interrogations and torture

in order to weaken the individual into confessing.

They would administer LSD and other chemicals, use hypnosis, sensory deprivation, isolation

and verbal abuse in order to psychologically torture them.

Needless to say, their experiments didn't work quite as planned so the project was scrapped

but the CIA director also ordered the workers to destroy all of the evidence and documents

from this program.

The Watergate scandal is in at number 6.

This is probably one of the most well-known government scandals.

Basically, under President Nixon's orders, a group of men broke into the DNC headquarters

at the Watergate complex in order to dig up dirt on the Democratic party that could be

used in upcoming elections.

Obviously, the men were caught and Nixon tried his best to cover up the scandal but his entire

plan unraveled when a tape was released that proved Nixon was trying to cover up the scandal.

That is just so embarrassing.

He is actually the only president to ever resign from office and he did this so he could

avoid being prosecuted.

Up next in at number 5 we have The Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment.

This was a huge ethical scandal that occurred between 1932 and 1973.

This was an infamous clinical study by the US public heath service where the purpose

of the study was to observe the natural progression of untreated syphilis in rural African American

men in Alabama.

However, the researchers never told the infected men that they had the disease or what the

purpose of the study was.

They told the men that they would be receiving free medical care for their "bad blood."

Even when penicillin was available in 1947, the researchers never offered it to them which

would have effectively treated syphilis.

Keep in mind syphilis is a pretty serious disease that can cause paralysis, blindness,

damage to the heart and brain and even death.

The Ford Pinto crashes into number 4.

This car model was first introduced in 1971 and even though sales were going well, Ford

was hiding a dark secret.

This particular model had a serious design problem.

During low-speed rear end crash testing, the fuel tank's filler neck had a tendency to

tear away and spill gasoline under the car.

It would have cost an additional $11 per car to fix the problems but Ford decided to do

nothing, they thought it would cost less to pay off the owners whose cars caught on fire.

Well, a journalist sifted through the mountain of paperwork and discovered a memo in which

the company calculated that settling burn victim lawsuits would save the company $70

million over installing the parts in the cars.

After Ford was exposed, the company had to shell out a lot of money in damages and their

reputation was ruined for quite some time.

Now in at number 3 we have Pedophile Priests.

A Roman Catholic priest James R. Porter, sent a disturbing letter to the Pope admitting

that he had been sexually abusing children for years and asked if he can be relieved

of his duties before he hurt anyone else.

But then in 1992, his personal file was investigated and it was determined that this priest had

a lot of help covering up his crimes over the course of his 14-year career.

He had been removed from his duties 8 times because he assaulted children and he was then

sent to a mental health facility to get treatment for his pedophilia.

And after that, he would be allowed back to work.

This is just one example, for decades priests have been abusing thousands of children and

their crimes would be covered up in order to preserve the reputation of priests and

the Catholic church.

The My Lai Massacre makes it into number 2.

This occurred during the Vietnam War and it was a mass killing and gang rape of between

347-504 unarmed Vietnamese civilians.

It was committed by the US army and the victims included men, women, children and infants.

Some of these women were gang-raped and their bodies were left mutilated.

Initially the massacre was reported as a routine battle but upon further investigation, they

found out that it was an intentional mass killing of innocent bystanders.

Coming in at number 1 is The Franklin child prostitution ring.

This took place between 1988-1991 and it involved influential members and political figures

such as Lawrence King and President George H.W. Bush.

It is alleged that this group transported children of all ages across the country for

"secret parties" where the children would be molested, beaten and even murdered.

When this scandal was exposed the witnesses were deemed uncreditable so the case was dismissed.

Well there you guys have it…

when white people decided

they wanted to be able to do the cake walk.

Because there were not black folks on stage,

so white people dressed as black people

and put on

the blackface.

I wanted to ask you

about your collection of black Americana.

You have a very

large personal collection.

I call it Negrobilia.

A lot of racist imagery.

Mm-hmm.

It's blackface.

Yeah.

It's clearly stuff that was made to mock black people.

I don't even think it was that deep.

Really?

Yeah.

I have this thing from the Coon Chicken Inn.

That was the name of a restaurant.

I don't think they were thinking,

"Oh, we gonna get 'em now!"

[ Laughs ]

I think they were like, "That's funny."

What else

is in the collection?

One of my favorite is a German postcard.

There's a little white girl, a little white boy,

and this other little blackface

is in the middle.

And she says to him,

"Lick him and see if he's chocolate."

[ Gasps ]

If you've never seen black people...

we look chocolate.

So, you're telling me there might've been

an epidemic at some point,

where people were licking black people to see

if they tasted like chocolate?

Yeah.

And if you

played your cards right,

you could make it work for you, too.

BREAKING: Trump Has Just Been Sentenced To Death, Here's Who Signed His Life Away. - Duration: 4:07.

BREAKING: Trump Has Just Been Sentenced To Death, Here's Who Signed His Life Away.

President Trump has just been sentenced to death.

No, you're not reading a headline from the satire website The Onion…and no, you didn't

just wake up in an alternate universe where liberals' wet dreams come true.

The President of the United States has just been sentenced to death and here's who's

behind it…

If there's one person on the face of the planet who hates Trump more than Muslims and

liberals, it's the chubby dictator Kim Jong-un. Trump gives zero craps when it comes to trampling

on the feelings of the dictator who keeps declaring to blow America to smithereens,

where Trump decided to nickname Kim as the "rocket man," resulting in "Little Kim"

ramping up his anti-American rhetoric even further in recent weeks.

In the wake of Trump daring to mock the "supreme leader," Kim Jong-un has issued an unbelievable

order to have Trump killed, which is actually hilarious when you consider that this raging

lunatic lives on the other side of the globe and possesses zero ability to even carry out

his childish treats.

The Daily Mail reported that North Korea has just issued a "tirade against Trump" and

has sentenced our president "to death" for daring to insult the supreme leader.

The ridiculous threats came just hours after Trump returned from Asia, where North Korea's

propaganda has kicked into high gear, labeling Trump a "hideous criminal" who is hereby

"sentenced to death by the Korean people."

"The commentary added that the President has revealed his 'true colors as an old

lunatic, mean trickster and human reject' following his 12-day, five country tour of

the region," The Daily Mail reported.

"The fiery comments appear to be in response to a speech Trump delivered in South Korea

last week, where the President took direct aim at North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and

the 'dark fantasy' at the heart of his regime."

Trump apparently got Little Kim's giant panties in a wad, after Trump dared to insult

his royal highness, calling North Korea a dictatorship that needs to be destroyed.

"Every step you take down this dark path increases the peril you face," Trump had

stated about the communist leader.

"North Korea is not the paradise your grandfather envisioned,' he added.

'It is a hell that no person deserves."

The Daily Mail further exposed the hilarity of Kim Jong-un's threats, as it's been

the dictator's M.O. for quite some time to simply kill off anyone who dares to say

anything negative or mean about him.

"In response, the North Korean government lambasted Trump as a hypocritical, greedy

thief who the regime 'sentenced to death' for his numerous insults against the Kim Jong

Un and the 'Korean people.

Trump, who is no more than an old slave of money, dared point an accusing finger at the

sun.

He should know that he is just a hideous criminal sentenced to death by the Korean people.

He will be forced to pay dearly for his blasphemy any moment," The Daily Mail concluded.

If Little Kim actually gotthe opportunity to kill Trump, how do you supposed he'd

do it?

Perhaps he'd challenge Trump to a game of chubby bunny?

Or maybe he'd sit on Trump and suffocate him?

Or perhaps he'd challenge Trump to a duel, and Kim could bust out the archaic collection

of weapons that he's so found of.

Trump had a hilarious response on twitter after being sentenced to death by the dictator

tweeting out: "Why would Kim Jong-un insult me by calling me 'old,' when I would NEVER

call him 'short and fat?'

Oh well, I try so hard to be his friend – and maybe someday that will happen!"

But in all seriousness, for a world leader to "sentence the President of the United

States to death" sheds light on just what a raging lunatic this guy truly is, and given

that this guy possesses the nuclear capability to blow America to smithereens, we should

probably keep close tabs on this guy.

But I guarantee that if President Trump truly feels his life or the lives of the American

people are being threatened by this psychotic man-child, our President will not hesitate

to take out military action and send blast Little Kim and his army of underdeveloped

man-child mongols straight to back to the stone age where they belong.

what do you think about this?

Why did the Roman Empire fall? BRAND NEW SERIES! Lesson with Lauren! - Duration: 0:54.

Today we're looking at the fall of Rome in 410 AD, there were a number of factors

that led to this event. That time known as the migration period was one of great

upheaval with massive movement of peoples across Eurasia, so-called

barbarians began invading settled empires like Rome and China from around

300 AD, climate change also forced nomadic tribes out from Central Asia, in

Europe an army of Huns displaced Visigoths who in turn moved on to Roman

lands culminating in the attack on Rome itself in 410, however Roman customs

language and its official religion Christianity endured and prospered and

its influence can be seen and felt in everything from the alphabet to politics

to this day.

An old man standing on a destroyed kindergarten which was targeted by the Assad's warplanes - Duration: 1:27.

It is a Kindergarten

Cares for up to 120 orphaned children.

As if the whole world said "We should kill people and their children in Syria".

We don't not blame Russia

Because it is a conquered country.

We don't blame Iran.

We blame The Arabs,

"One Arab Nation" we have forgotten this slogan.

What about the United Nations?

And the human rights!!

The rights of children.

If a puppy sank in the Atlantic Ocean the whole world is going to move.

If a blue whale died,

Or a wolf in Western Europe.

Children!!

Thanks God, Children weren't at the kindergarten.

They left two hours ago.

See what happens!

See what happened!

It's a shame.

A shame.

It's a shame on the world.

We speak about children, Isn't it a shame!

We speak about human rights.

This is a child swing.

These are dishes.

Thank God, they are empty.

Empty dishes.

They distribute U N relief and missiles at the same time.

Missiles… Missiles of the regime.

October Wrap Up! - Duration: 15:33.

Hello everyone, welcome back to my channel I'm Lily and today is my rather

overdue October *book haul. It's nearly the middle of the month. I've just been a bit

de-motivated to make videos I guess, uh it's really dark-- but it's actually dark when

I get home from work now and so the week just feels like it goes

by very very quickly. The weekend just gone I actually spent a lot of it

writing and I wrote a lot. I should have been cutting so my novel

is actually longer than it was before I started editing with the kind of mind to

cut stuff so yeah, turns out I'm rubbish at editing. My head's kind of going a bit haywire with all the

thoughts so yay but anyway, books! So I read six books in

October but I did also read two graphic novels so it kind of balanced out a bit

The first book that I read in October was 'Marcy and the Riddle of the Sphinx'

by Joe Todd Stanton and this is the second book in the Brownstones Mythical

Collection series-- I think it's a series, I really hope it's a series, but there's two books

currently so it's it's a progressing series yay This is a really beautiful graphic novel

these are the end papers! If you saw my previous wrap up the theme of that one

was more kind of Icelandic mythology and so Marcy is the daughter of Arthur who

is the main character in the first book and we still get to meet what's-his-face

who's looking after the Brownstone Family Collection and telling old

stories and this story is all about Marcy and it's got a very kind of Egypt

theme and it's there's a lot more character development in this one and I

felt like I connected more with Marcy herself. She's quite intimidated by her

father's fame and fortune that he's collected on his adventures as a young

man and now her father's quite old so he needs a bit of help around the house and

Marcy's quite timid but she wants to be really brave so her father tries to

teach you how to be brave, and it is a very sweet story. I like this one much

more than I liked the first one. I'm really really looking forward to seeing

where this series goes. I think the only thing that kind of knocked this

down from being five stars for me was that I didn't really I didn't really

feel the Egypt-ness was . . . it felt a bit more uh . . . like a gimmick, it wasn't tied in

really to the characters and I didn't really see why it was chosen other than

it was just another myth a mythical place so I would like to see in future

books more relevance to why certain myths and cultures have been chosen but

other than that this is a fantastic series it's a really really slim little

book I think it's a kind of graphic novel comic crossover for kids and it's

brilliant. Look! Look at the beautiful pictures . . . this is a really bad way of showing you

pictures, but it's wonderful. It's got such a lovely warm color palette and I'm

just I'm just in love with this series. The second book that I read in October

was Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban as part of my reread of Harry

Potter series. This I think is my favorite book, it's just wow I love that you get to see more

of the classes and things like that. I think I hadn't noticed before, or I hadn't noticed

as a child that in the first two books you don't really get to see a lot of the

classes, you get a couple sentences about some random thing that happens in them

but you don't get to really be in the class. I really loved about this one is

we really get to see more of the classes I love Lupin. I swear Lupin-- Lupin, Hagrid,

and Sirius are like my favorite characters, they are just-- they're perfect

and I'm forever sad that poor Hagrid gets such a bad break on his his classes

because he has so much potential to be an amazing teacher and ugh the kids just

awful like why this-- all the Slytherins are just awful

why why why can't there be a nice Slytherin who loves animals? Like that

would be amazing. So this one got out right five stars because it's it's Harry

Potter. The next book that I read in October was quite a difficult book for

me it was 'The Good People' by Hannah Kent. I haven't read Hannah Kent's other book

'Burial Rites' but it is up there somewhere-- there! And the characters were really well

explored and very morally challenging, especially to

me. I found I didn't like any of the characters but I was endlessly

fascinated by them and how they thought I meant their emotions and the way they

interacted with each other, and the whole community aspect of time periods gone by

really fascinates me anyway so this being a deeper exploration of life in

rural Ireland in 18 something: 1825 yes-- was really I really enjoyed reading that

side of it but the plot itself I found very difficult to read. It's about a

woman whose husband dies at the very beginning of the book, and then has to care for her

severely disabled grandson on her own. She seeks the help of local woman called

Nance and together they kind of get wrapped up in a lot of superstition and

their folklore and beliefs about time, hidden people, the good people, fairies

and things like that, and they try to cure this boy. But really what they're

doing is-- it's horrific child abuse really, and I found that really difficult

to read and the ending didn't really give me any peace over that either. I can

enjoy this story but I could really see that this was a very well-written book

and the points it was trying to make and how well the research had gone into this.

I've got a lot of conflicting emotions about it.I am glad I read it, I do think

it's very brilliant book, um and I do recommend it but I think caution to

those who maybe do not want to readabout child abuse-- this has a lot of it. The next book I read

I've already taken back to the library and that was the 'Encyclopedia of Early

Earth'. It's a graphic novel short story collection-y kind of thing, and it's

got a wonderful-- it's got a wonderful folklore fairy tale kind of sense

about it. The art is incredibly beautiful -- I'll stick some pictures of it up here

for you. And I really really loved the first few stories that I read but then I

found my intention waning a bit and I start reading other things

(actually I was mostly reading Harry Potter) but it just it didn't really stick with me

for very long, I didn't feel that the stories were particularly original even

though they were very beautifully rendered and some of the characters were

quite intriguing and some of the changes to the stories that I knew really

fascinates me I just I just I just can kind of keep my attention on it and that

was quite a shame for me really because I really really expected to love it,

so I only ended up giving this one three stars in the end. The next book was also

a book that I found quite difficult to put into words how I felt about it this

might be the reason why this wrap-up is so late because these books are just so . . .

many thoughts! But that was 'The Clocks in this House All Tell Different Times' by

Xan Brooks, and this book was one of the books I had on my five-star TBR

predictions I think, and I it was very close -- I did give this I think for 4.5

stars in the end. It's, it's an excellent book. It's very again very well researched.

It felt like a classic even though it was only published this year, it felt like I

was reading something much older so the style was quite distinctive. I loved how

the post-war mood was really well evoked. It's incredibly complex and deeply

layered, it does so many different things that I think I would have to read it

again and maybe again again to really absorb everything that's going on in

this book, everything that author is trying to say. It's about a young girl

called Lucy who her grandfather kind of signs her up to be an escort for trips

to the woods with four soldiers who are all named after characters in The Wizard

of Oz and that you can kind of guess what's really going on there, there's

nothing explicit in the books it's all very kind of blaise, I know nobody

particularly cares, even the characters themselves, there's nothing you don't see

anything, it's just-- but you know what's going on

all the way through this book there's so many things like that layered and

textured and you know what's going on but you don't quite. The characters are

brilliant, I really loved Lucy as a character, she's really just like

everyone in this book is so realistic but so completely not at the same time

it's, it's bizarre, it's amazing. I don't think

I've read anything quite like it. It's a book I would definitely like to reread

and analyze one day because it's there's just so much going on in it and there's

so much I think I must have missed in my first reading because like the one kind

of issue that I did have with this book other than a few things to do with

representation which I think largely feel very realistic of the time, the

writing was a bit-- not dense but unclear at times. It was like the author

got a bit wrapped up in how amazing he could make every single sentence that

sometimes I just I wasn't sure what was happening, and there's a specific part right

at the end where I really want to know what happened but I've reread that part

several times and I cannot for life me work out what happened. So that I found

quite difficult and there were lots of places like that where I just thought

okay I'll just carry on, and you know there were definitely stuff that was

going over my head and I dunno if that's just me as a reader, but not many people seem to have read

this so I haven't actually had been able to discuss it with anyone so if you have

read it I would like to discuss it and maybe answer some questions about things

but like I think I missed, that would be really cool so let me know. But this book

was just endlessly fascinating there's a really really vile character in here

that I I just loved to hate. I think this is it's this one you definitely have to

read for yourself I think. I don't think any one person's opinion on this can

really sum up for anybody else and I think there definitely are issues with

it but again I think they're quite personal issues that will come up person

by person. It's fascinating, I'm very glad I read it, I'm definitely gonna be hanging

on to it and I'm definitely gonna be rereading it in the future because it's such a,

such a moody book. Uh yeah that's a really vague description but I'm done with that one.

The last books that I read this month was 'The Book of Dust'!

So this is 'The Book of Dust: la Belle Sauvage' . . . Savaage, swuage? I'm tempted to say sausage

just because that was a joke. This book is really heavy so I'm going to put it down

while I talk about it, because my

arm is aching after like two seconds of holding it up. 'La Belle Sauvage' was a prequel

to the original trilogy of His Dark Materials

I had expected it to be kind of mix of a prequel and a sequel because Philip Pullman had done

his very best to emphasize this was not a prequel or sequel it was an equal but

really this entire book was a prequal. There was there was nothing at all

in set in the future in this book at all. So sorry Pullman but it's a prequel, deal

with it. Your whole trilogy here might be an

equal but this one is definitely a prequel. And it's about a boy called

Malcolm who lives in just outside of Oxford opposite a priory where baby Lyra

has been sent for sanctuary. I really enjoyed reading it and I really enjoyed spending

that time with it and just drifting with it, that I felt very apt considering most

of it set on a boat. Malcolm-- I really loved him as a character, he felt like he

felt kind of like Roger if Roger had been protagonist I think, and that made me

warm inside. I really hope that Malcolm and Lyra get to meet when Lyra is older

that would be really cool. I love just exploring Oxford and the emphasis on the

river and its changes and the landscape. I think Phillip Pullman did a really good

job over think what that landscape actually is like what the city is like

and how people so dependent on it and how their lives are built around it

really-- or on it. A lot of books don't really use their setting and especially

in fantasy I find that quite annoying so it was really nice to read a book that

was so soo grounded in its setting. I think the things that were weak about

this book that didn't really make it as great for me as His Dark Materials, or as

a book in general, I think, was it just didn't really feel

like it had any re-readability. I wouldn't reread it like I do with

Northern Lights, like I read Northern Lights every couple years, I love it. There's always more to read and every

time I read it I see more. Whereas I think with this one it's it's literally just

how Lyra got to Oxford, I don't really feel like I learned anything more I think I

just kind of . . . it's a bit more depth to the story I already knew, I suppose. It was a really

nice story to read but I don't I don't think I reread it and I'm not sure that

this would have much appeal for kids either, it's got a very very slow start

and it kind of just meanders through and the villain is very scary but we don't

really get a lot of his kind of motivation backstory, he's just kind of

he's just kind of mad, and there's no real exploration of that, and I was

really hoping for more of that, especially considering some of the things

he does to his demon. I don't know, I had a lot of thoughts about The Book of Dust

and I'm gonna say these are even negative things really they're just

things I've been thinking about. I wanted to learn new things and I think going

backwards isn't always the best way to do that I think I'm much more looking

forward to the next two books which hopefully will deal more with the future

and Lyra as an adult, and hopefully Malcolm as well, I'd like to

see Malcolm I would be cool. So yeah that one was a bit of her I'm really happy

that I read it and I really enjoy reading it. Pullman's writing is

just wonderfully absorbing. So those were my October reads. I hope you're having a

good week! Let me know down below what you've been reading, if you really need

these books. I know especially 'The Good People' seems to have been doing it's

round on YouTube so we called to chat with somebody about that. That's all from

me today, I hope you're having a good week, thank you for watching and hello to

some new subscribers it's great to see you and a little bit of scary but great

to see you-- thank you, and goodbye!

Autentico Paint - Venice Pigeon Gray (diluted with water)

So then!

Then I painted (or we)

Me and a friend to me - painted these walls

with a slightly darker gray

Now I think I'll paint with

a lighter gray color

As you saw so we painted in all sorts of directions,

and we had mixed the paint with water (about 20%)

... first round ... and now

I think I'll paint from top to bottom all the way around

with this lighter gray just to get a little more dimension to the whole party.

So ... that's what I do now!
