For this 16th episode, I wanted to talk about a colorful record:

THE EXTROVERT CITY from Kaidi Tatham

released in 2016 on the label 2000 Black

This is also an opportunity to talk about the Broken Beat scene!

Kaidi Tatham is a British multi-instrumentalist artist

and truly a virtuoso who collaborated with several artists!

He is mainly associated with the Broken Beat scene

using different aliases such as Agent K, Shokazulu or Shox.

As an example, Agent K it sounds like this:

Mister Tatham is a very productive artist who released more than 20 EPs or albums on different labels

Eglo records, 2000 black, or Sound Signature….

Sound signature do you remember ? We talked about this label in a previous episode that was focused on Detroit

I discovered Kaidi Tatham in 2003 with the track "Got Me Puzzled". I actually still play this track

Kaidi Tatham is a member of Bugz In The Attic collective, a key actor within the Herbaliser band

and involved in many collaborations with Dego of course

as well as Silhouette Brown and groups like 4 Hero, Afro Force or Likwid Biskit (along IG Culture).

And the list goes on, there is actually a lot...

I have to tell you about his Henry Wu's remix for the track Just Negotiate whom I am totally into…

Remember, I danced on this track for the first episode!

That's it, it wraps everything up!

Outstanding pianist; Gilles Peterson calls him "the most talented keys player" in United Kingdom.

You can hear him during live performances such as jazz re:freshed.

Those nights happen on Thursdays on Portobello Road,

getting together the jazz scene with the new Londoner generation.

Kaidi Tatham & Mark de Clive Lowe are some of the pioneers, performing there quite often.

He is a talented DJ as well putting together different styles.

He does not hesitate to add synthesizer notes to enhance his sets.

Just for the pleasure, here is an excerpt of a studio session in which he plays a J Dilla track…

I decided to focus a little bit on Broken Beat here,

because this is a little known musical genre although one of my favorite !

By the way, the documentary BROKEN VIBES tells a really good story about Broken Beat!

Broken Beat appeared in London in the end of the 90s with pioneers

such as IG Culture, 4hero, Bugz in The Attic, Afronaut, Kaidi Tatham, Daz I Kue, Domu, Mark de Clive Lowe among others …

This is an extension of Jungle that already mixed live instruments with machines.

It came to the surface in West London where the Goya label as well as many artists were based at the time.

This genre is actually labeled as "West London".

Broken Beat mixes several styles like jazz fusion, hip-hop, funk, house, jungle, electro, Soul…

so why "Broken" ...means "cassé" in french

it is for this very pronounced rhythmic ans this syncopated aspect.

That is what brings this very special energy in clubs

an aerial sound with a BPM close to House music, broken tones reminding of Hip Hop with this grounded energy…

Anyway, it's great for dancing and working on energy changes!!

Broken Beat's golden age ran through 2007.

Its biggest commercial successes are Bugz In The Attic's "Booty La La" and the remix "Hold it Down"

This underground movement evaporated in the late 2000s, however we can notice a revival within the few past years!!!

As a matter of fact, the comeback of the famous CoOP sessions,

who initially were an aficionados' gathering every Sunday

between 2000 and 2007 in London's neighborhood Shoreditch

CoOP sessions had 2 boiler rooms, one in 2015 and the other in 2016.

It started again this year in March 2017 in Hoxton Basement and you won't believe it:

I attended this party … and I think it was probably one of the best parties in my entire life..!!

First of all, the English crowd is very expressive… nothing to see with the French crowd ^^ !!!

The party takes place in a basement where the walls ooze quickly so people dance their ass off…

People dance and dance, dancers or amateurs, they don't care.

Everybody is there just to express themselves on good music !

While major artists keep doing their thing, this musical family enriches itself with a new generation of artists

such as EVM 128, N'tek, Henry Wu, or K15….

Let's get back to our topic : Kaidi's EP.

The Extrovert City is a perfect EP mixing Broken, Hip Hop and Jazz influences.

It includes 3 killer tracks: "The Extrovert City", "The Shadow Ain't Going Nowhere", "Mister Seahorse"….

…. that is now scratched because I played it so much…

if you listen carefully, you will hear Kaidi's daughter laughter he sampled for that track.

This EP came out last year, in 2016 on 2000 black.

It is a Reinforced Records sublabel, founded in 1998 by Dego of 4Hero.

Inspired by Roy Ayers' lyrics 'Think About the Future, Think About Change', it claims for "groove".

There is more than 60 releases on this label

among them Lordamercy & Dego EP that I actually discovered in Marina Trench's last radio show

on 'Le Mellotron', spun by her guest Kaffé creme !

6 EASY HOLIDAY HAIRSTYLES | Mohna Sharma - Duration: 7:02.

Hey guys welcome back to my channel holiday season is almost here

so I'm going to show you six easy holiday hairstyles and for that all you need is hair ties and bobby pins and

lets get started

First off leave two front pieces of hair down and put the rest of your hair in a low ponytail

Split the ponytail using your fingers and flip the pony through it

Repeat the same thing with the two sections from front

You can either leave it like this or tie hair elastic in the middle of your ponytail

And now start twisting it like this

Then secure the bun using hairpins and

That's it you're done

For this hairstyle take two front sections of hair and make a twisted bun.

And secure it using bobby pins

Take two sections from sides and one section from middle and make a regular braid

Once that's done fan it out to achieve a thicker look.

For this hairstyle bring two sections of hair from sides towards your back and now we will create a knot

Repeat the same thing

And our knot is done now take both the ends and bring it under your hair

Tie a hair elastic and hide this tiny Pony tail there.

Grab a section of your hair from behind your ear and do a regular braid

Fan it out a little bit take the rest of your hair and wrap your braid around it

Then secure everything with hair elastic

You can also create a messy, bun

Secure the bun using hair elastic

Now wrap your braid around the bun and this will hide the hair elastic

Secure the braid with bobby pins

Take two sections of hair from front and do a regular braid on both the sides

Bring your braids towards the back of your head and secure it with bobby pins

creating a triangular shape

The last hairstyle is a four strand braid section your hair into four different strands

Bring the first strand over

the second strand and

under the third

strand

and again

over the fourth strand

Now we'll repeat the same thing with second strand it will go over

Then under

Then over again

And continue doing it over

And under then over

Once the braid is done fan it out a little

I'm keeping my layers in place using bobby pins

I have used a Scottish plaid bow to complete the hairstyle

SS can be a shadow for attacker

Attacking instruction, as usual i use long pass, cause Real madrid good balance body and speed

counter attack is real madrid special here

Wide cause i will using wingger mostly

potitioning Flexible to make or your player can move anywhere to open space

in defensive instruction i will use all out defend

area defend will be from middle, i will tell you later in next video

Defensive line 5, compactness 7

Hug touchline very good if you like attacking from wing side

center target, to make your CF in center mode, good to receive header

i use 2 counter target here

really were able to use that and thought that they could do that in the same way

she means to deliver a message that resonates to women women she didn't she

came across as not caring as better than them and that didn't work all that she

also she didn't have a solid message and that's something that many people in one

message Democrats were shocked about this because I gotta be honest

traditionally when they use identity politics that traditionally works the

difference from this election is when you have people that are living paycheck

to paycheck in their kids education suck and and they're tired of the border

being out of control and and you're putting illegal immigrants before

American citizens and they don't care about the way they look they want

someone to solve their problems yeah and so this election it just wouldn't work

the problems outweighed their identity yeah but if you had had a woman that

how difficult it is I know I mean a lot of women was three F o--'s of their

family right there they know Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders actually

what you will she's a lawyer and she's a lady and she has lady parts that are on

wearing women walked on stage yeah and I you know I do the color wheel so but I I

they realize they don't like to be scolded they also don't like to be told

what to do that is a Cathy part of it that got me was when she says you know

for women who said Trump is better for me you like the thing that you are told

to like basically saying that anyone who voted for Trump they were told to do

that yeah a response you know apparently the left still does not get it this

election has never been about ovaries I said it then and I can take you thank

you as women we can speak beyond our uteruses and what this election was

about then and it continues to be about today is what kind of America do we want

and by extension what kind of world do we want to live in and raise up the next

generation President Trump and Hillary Penton were offering two completely

different versions of America and just within the last nine months we we face

some very formidable challenges from Syria gas enos on people to North

Korea's nuclear ambitions to injecting growth porous border than the list goes

on and on and none of those issues are women issues they are American issues

and that is how I vote it you should see you have a lot you want to say there I

agree with Michelle Obama I believe that having a voice is very important and

unfortunately a lot of women do not even recognize their voice I'm raising a

daughter who's 14 years old and if you ask her right now what do you have

she'll say a voice why would any woman feel that a man who objectifies women

who says that it's okay to grab a woman by her genitalia want that person to be

their leader so it is important it's about equal equality and females have to

have the same opportunities as mills and I feel like if a president doesn't have

value a woman like he values a man we're losing and that ability to have equal

opportunity all right dr. Gina I want to get you in here because you didn't

support Trump necessarily but you have an interesting perspective order and I

did not vote for Trump but yet I see a lot of Republican women in my practice

and what do they tell you what Michelle Obama was saying they want their own

voice so they do want their own voice they want equal pay they want access to

birth control many of them quietly want access to abortion that type of thing so

I tend to agree with what Michelle Obama said but then I see my Republican

patient's point of view about how they want some things but not other things a

lot of them are very very very concerned about their taxes I tend not to be a

one-issue voter so I'm looking at the broad strokes of everything I imagine a

very independent thinkers of their own do you know want to get you in here

interesting when you hear these comments and you think about you know eight years

ago and Michelle Obama's husband was running against Hillary Clinton at the

time I imagine at that point who knows who she voted for but I would guess it

was for not Hillary Clinton it was for her husband oh I'm sure she did but

listen Abby elections are about policies and identity politics is always playing

a role for some reason people think that because you're black you're supposed

emma-crats because you're you're supposed to vote for a woman it's

about policies and I think Hillary Clinton I mean on Michelle Obama has

insulted the over 40% of the women who did vote for president Trump I find her

comments were very condescending Americans women men we are concerned

about the Forgotten men and women we want lower taxes we want good national

security immigration reform those are the issues that Americans voted for in

favor presidential issues that moms Beth care about more than anything they care

about their kids they care about their grandkids in their future correct and

and I think what's important to to remember is what she said how about the

hypocrisy the left they're always advocating for gender neutrality and yet

we're supposed to vote by gender if you continued on and listen to what our read

actually what she actually spoke at at the convention she also referred to

herself as the former first spouse instead of referring to herself as the

former first lady she wanted to get it out there that you know she is gender

neutral and that that's important and that's going to be so to speak the wave

of the future and it's so hypocritical and I think frankly that most women that

heard her statement they understand that this is just another hypocritical thing

from the left and it's double standard well I admire Michelle Obama as a mom

but the days of Stalinist feminism are over and I wouldn't presume to speak

about her voice happy this week a woman graduated from the basic school at

Quantico she's the first marine qualified to lead an infantry platoon

and I will rebel it's bad it's so great actions speak so much louder than any

words ever could write and we don't know her name and I sure don't know her voice

I would never presume to speak for that young woman that officers voice and I

think we should all have our own voices Amen well I'm gonna give you the last

word here Jeanne yeah well you know I think we all have to take a step back

and say this is Michelle Obama of course she's a Democrat she is going to say she

opposes Donald Trump and that we all should so I don't see anything shocking

about what she said I think we have to go back to the issue of policy it has

been nine what policies has President trunk put

forward to benefit women that's the question and to benefit all of us and

you can look down the line at some of these policies including the inability

of Republicans to repeal and replace Obamacare has a huge impact on women and

so there is a policy perspective here that we have to look at and that's

missing when we have conversations and that's why I didn't want Michelle Obama

to come out because it clouds a really important message about policy because

she's so close obviously to the Democratic Party while some great

opinions here we I think everyone agrees regardless of your background that

policy is most important far more important than politics will ever be

I'm here in Belgium with a bunch of YouTubers to get to know a bit about the EU

They're making a huge amount of huge decisions here

Many great men visit here

And besides the great men there are basic tourists visiting here, just like me

This is something you will see when you start reading articles

When somebody said, okay today at the commission the spoke person for climate action said this

This was on the record because you name the person who said it

Okay?

But when you're gonna see sources close to the European commission said today

This is something that is off the record

The thing that stands out here in Brussels are the statues

There are a lot of childlike, playing characters in front of the EU commission

And in the city center you'll find this peeing boy, which is the most famous one

And, of course, his sister, who is peeing herself

And their dog, doing exactly the same thing

Quite an interesting choice of a theme

But they're located so close to each other that you just have to go and see them

During the rush hour like now

It's now 6.30 pm

It's no use getting an Uber

Or any type of car

But it's best to take the subway

You'll definitely make your way to where you're going the fastest

So, I recommend avoiding traveling by car or bus during the rush hour

You'll save a lot of time not having to spend your time in the traffic jam

There are these amazing Gothic cathedrals here

I like architecture myself

And that's why places like this cathedral are amazing

Look at it!

And now we're at the Grand-Place in Brussels

The Grand-Place is just gorgeous

And because it's so beautiful and so famous, that they call it the most beautiful market place in the world

So there is a huge amount of people here

And that's why you can find many nice restaurants around here, and also many not that nice restaurants

Bars and so on

But you can also find the small statues here

The perfect evening for me here in Brussels would include seeing the cathedral -

Then I would visit this market place

Then I'd eat the famous fries

And then I'd go and see the three statues

Then it's time to enjoy either Belgian waffles or chocolate

And then end the evening in a pub and enjoy one of the delicious Lambic beers

That would be a night I would enjoy here

Cheerleaders under fire after 'racist' chanting video emerges

The footage, which was uploaded onto Instagram and shared on Twitter, shows the white teen girls shouting the n-word and other expletives.

A Utah school's officials became aware of the footage Monday after the 10-second video began making the rounds of social media.

In the video, the group of junior and senior girls scream "f**k n**gers" while smiling and laughing.

"We are shocked by the conduct of these students and the contents of the video," according to a statement from the Weber School District.

"School officials have started an investigation and the matter is being taken very seriously.

We are trying to determine when the video was made, where it was filmed, why the students would engage in such conduct,.

and how the clip ended up on social media.

School officials said the IT department would look into whether the clip was created with a video-editing app.

that somehow generated the offensive phrase.

"Initial information suggests that the students may have actually been saying a different phrase,.

something similar to 'surgeon cuff,'" the district said.

"The video was then possibly uploaded into an app that plays it backwards,.

producing an entirely different sounding phrase.

In this case, a very derogatory, racial slur.".

The school confirmed that three of the girls in the video are cheerleaders,.

but said there's no indication the footage was filmed during extra-curricular activities.

The video, which was originally posted to Instagram, was also circulating on Facebook where it had garnered more than 12,000 views by Monday night,.

according to the Deseret News.

Several students and parents took to social media to condemn the video.

The controversial video is now being investigated.

"The video of Weber high school cheerleaders making racist comments makes me so sick," said one Facebook user.

Others called for the teens to be booted from the cheerleading team.

"PLEASE call the school and DEMAND these people no longer be in a representation position for the school," another user wrote on Facebook.

Schools officials haven't determined how the students will be disciplined, but said they could be expelled or kicked off the cheerleading squad.

"All of those things would be on the table," Weber School District spokesman Lane Findlay told the Deseret News.

"Obviously, they knew what they were doing.

It's just completely inappropriate.".

6 EASY HOLIDAY HAIRSTYLES | Mohna Sharma - Duration: 7:02.

Hey guys welcome back to my channel holiday season is almost here

so I'm going to show you six easy holiday hairstyles and for that all you need is hair ties and bobby pins and

lets get started

First off leave two front pieces of hair down and put the rest of your hair in a low ponytail

Split the ponytail using your fingers and flip the pony through it

Repeat the same thing with the two sections from front

You can either leave it like this or tie hair elastic in the middle of your ponytail

And now start twisting it like this

Then secure the bun using hairpins and

That's it you're done

For this hairstyle take two front sections of hair and make a twisted bun.

And secure it using bobby pins

Take two sections from sides and one section from middle and make a regular braid

Once that's done fan it out to achieve a thicker look.

For this hairstyle bring two sections of hair from sides towards your back and now we will create a knot

Repeat the same thing

And our knot is done now take both the ends and bring it under your hair

Tie a hair elastic and hide this tiny Pony tail there.

Grab a section of your hair from behind your ear and do a regular braid

Fan it out a little bit take the rest of your hair and wrap your braid around it

Then secure everything with hair elastic

You can also create a messy, bun

Secure the bun using hair elastic

Now wrap your braid around the bun and this will hide the hair elastic

Secure the braid with bobby pins

Take two sections of hair from front and do a regular braid on both the sides

Bring your braids towards the back of your head and secure it with bobby pins

creating a triangular shape

The last hairstyle is a four strand braid section your hair into four different strands

Bring the first strand over

the second strand and

under the third

strand

and again

over the fourth strand

Now we'll repeat the same thing with second strand it will go over

Then under

Then over again

And continue doing it over

And under then over

Once the braid is done fan it out a little

I'm keeping my layers in place using bobby pins

I have used a Scottish plaid bow to complete the hairstyle

Antibiotics are some of our most precious medicines and we're going to lose them unless we protect them

so spread the word, share this video to your friends and family so they can use antibiotics properly

antibiotic resistance let me first give you a short explanation of what it is and how it happens

imagine the white tablets as the bacteria and the box of amoxicillin is the antibiotic

antibiotic resistance can build up after bacteria have become repeatedly exposed to antibiotics

the bacteria change or adapt so they are no longer affected by the antibiotic

in other words the antibiotic can no longer kill them

so now the resistant bacteria can continue to multiply even in the presence antibiotics

now think of the last time you had an infection it wasn't a big worry

because you know you can get some antibiotics

but the problem is antibiotics don't kill bacteria as well as they used to

and I see it in practice more often than I'd like to

in fact some bacteria are now completely resistant to all of our antibiotics

you know before the 1930s when antibiotics were discovered by Sir Alexander Fleming

bacterial infections that we now see as trivial were often fatal

so how do we protect our antibiotics?

Step 1! Don't demand antibiotics from your doctor

we've all been there when you feel absolutely terrible and you just want something to help

remember antibiotics make very little difference to colds, flus, sore throats and coughs

so ask your pharmacist for some over-the-counter medicines to treat your symptoms

last week I made a video about colds and what I recommend to treat your symptoms

so feel free to check it out

Step 2! Take antibiotics exactly as prescribed with a consistent time between each dose

some antibiotics are better on an empty stomach so they can absorb better into your blood stream

and some are better after food

so pay attention to the additional information on the medicine label from pharmacy

and always read information leaflet for extra instructions

Step 3! Never save antibiotics for the future always complete the course even if you feel better

and definitely, definitely don't share them with anyone else

it's widely accepted that stopping antibiotic treatment early encourages the bacteria

to develop antibiotic resistance

this is probably one of the biggest threats to everyone on earth and the problem will only get worse

unless we make a change just imagine what will happen when antibiotics no longer work
