Youtube daily report May 3 2018

We've all heard of actors feuding with each other on set, but celebs who can't stand working

with animals?

Yes, that's actually a thing.

But how bad could it possibly be to goof around with an adorable animal?

Pretty bad, apparently, at least according to this surprising list of movie and TV stars

who have willingly shaded their fuzzy co-stars.

These are the celebs who can't stand working with animals.

Doggy diva

There may be no more adorable sitcom mascot, than Eddie on Frasier.

"Go away."

Eddie served as a wonderful foil to the antics of the neurotic psychologist and his working-class

dad.

But Eddie, who's real name was Moose, was an actor — and he was certainly no Eddie

in real life.

According to TV Guide, Kelsey Grammer said Moose used to bite John Mahoney "whenever

he'd sit on his lap."

Mahoney admitted Moose bit him twice, but only because he was accidentally provoked.

He told Fox News,

"I love dogs.

But Moose […] I just realized right off the bat he's not interested in me.

[...] He was a temperamental actor as far as I'm concerned."

"Eddie's a very highly trained animal."

"He's the only real scene stealer, I think, in our cast."

Interrupting cow

The film adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's Into The Woods, combined several Brothers

Grimm fairy tales, as well as an original story starring Emily Blunt and James Corden.

And according to Corden, the whole thing would have run a lot smoother minus Tug the cow.

Referring to Tug as "the biggest diva on set," Corden told USA Today,

"It didn't change my mind about eating burgers working with that cow."

Apparently Tug had a habit of letting out ill-timed "Moos" in the middle of the human

actors' performances.

Corden didn't hold back when he told Movie Maniacs:

"The cow was a nightmare."

"Just (moooooooo) as this cow would just back towards you."

Monkey business

Marcel, Ross' pet monkey on Friends, is easily two of the most famous animal actors — because

Marcel was played by Katie and Monkey, two female capuchins who have had incredible success

since their time on the show.

According to BuzzFeed, Katie has gone on to roles in Bruce Almighty and 30 Rock, and even

appeared alongside model Kendall Jenner in Allure.

That's pretty remarkable, considering David Schwimmer, who played Ross, once told EW,

"I hate that monkey.

I wish it were dead."

Schwimmer's frustration was mostly because the trainers wouldn't let him "bond" with

Katie and Monkey.

Matthew Perry was similarly unkind to the capuchin duo, telling The Morning Call,

"The monkey doesn't know he's on TV."

He went on to lament that no matter how good the actors' takes were, they would use the

one where the monkey miraculously did the thing it was supposed to do.

Living La Vida Dolce

In 2011's Young Adult, Charlize Theron's Mavis travels with a tiny Pomeranian constantly

stuffed in her purse.

And perhaps the reason why, was that the dog, Dolce, was a total rookie.

"Is that a dog in your bag?"

"Nope."

Theron told Jay Leno that director Jason Reitman spotted Dolce out in public, and cast her

right on the spot.

She said,

"You couldn't get it to focus for like two seconds.

It was insane.

It really was the perfect dog for Mavis but it was driving Charlize crazy."

A rat by any other name

Though comedy vet Ben Stiller didn't come right out and say that he hated working with

the ferret in Along Came Polly, he was pretty candid about the time it attacked him out

of the blue.

He told TV Guide,

"I was bitten by the ferret.

[...] I was holding him up and he did this crazy turn-around thing.

He literally attached himself to my chin and he didn't let go."

"Oh!

Rat in the house!"

"He's a ferret.

He can't really see anymore."

Co-star, Jennifer Aniston confirmed the situation, saying,

"It's not the warmest, cuddliest animal.

It's just a big rat at the end of the day."

A little hippophobia

No, this isn't about hippos.

Kristen Stewart actively pursued a role in spite of her fear of horses.

"Riding horses scares the crap out of me."

She revealed to People that she fell off a horse when she was 9 years old and "broke

and dislocated" her elbow.

Since then, she said she's hated the noble creatures as well as the horseback riding

in Snow White and the Huntsman.

But for Stewart, Snow White was a role she couldn't pass up, saying,

"I wanted so badly to do this that it was just like, 'Alright, well, if I perish by

horse, that's all good.'"

The Apple That Changed The World | Planet Money | NPR - Duration: 5:57.

The Miracle Apple. By Planet Money.

Prologue: The Tyrant.

Once upon a time,

the apple section in grocery stores was ruled by a tyrant.

Tough-skinned, mealy and character-building,

it was the Red Delicious.

And it was red, but really not so delicious.

This is the story of how one man and his miracle apple changed the world of fruit forever.

In the old days, like the 1960s,

apples were a commodity like screws or cheap socks.

Most big stores just wanted a couple of apples,

and especially the Red Delicious because it

was big, it was red and it had a tough skin that made it easy to transport.

People figured an apple is an apple,

and there was no reason to pay more for one than another.

As a result, there was no way for the apple growers to make a better apple

and charge more for it.

It was a bad business to be in.

Chapter 1: The Boy Who Hated Apples

In those days, there was a young boy in North Carolina named David Bedford.

He didn't know it at the time, but he was destined to change the world of apples forever.

Young Bedford loved fruit, but he hated apples because, remember --

the tyranny of the Red Delicious.

But when he grew up and went off to college,

he met this person who was carrying around

a bushel of yellow apples from an exotic and mysterious land called Michigan.

And this person said, "Try these, man. They'll change your whole world."

Bedford took a bite. And he saw the truth.

He knew the world of apples had to change. And he would be the one to change it.

Chapter 2: The Man And The Miracle Apple

It's the 1980s, and Bedford's quest to topple the Red Delicious has led him to become

an apple breeder at the University of Minnesota.

His is a hard, solitary toil.

In the peak of the season he's taking bites from 5 to 600 apples a day

looking for that one perfect apple.

And finally, one day, in the early 1980s, he comes across this tree — Tree No. 1711.

He picks an apple from it. Takes a bite. And...

It tasted crisp and honeyed. So, he called it

"Honeycrisp."

But it didn't catch on at first — because it was harder to grow

and because grocery stores were still pretty unimaginative places.

They looked at Bedford's apple and said,

"Eh, no thanks, the produce aisle is fine."

And so the apple growers said,

"Yeah, we're fine too."

Chapter 3: An Unlikely Alliance

There was one apple grower named Dennis Courtier, though.

Around this time, he visits Bedford and says,

"I'm not getting anywhere growing the same apples as everybody else.

Got anything different?"

Bedford does.

Courtier tries an apple from Tree 1711 and says,

"Sweet Iðunn! This is the apple I've been waiting for."

He goes all in on planting Honeycrisp.

When these apples finally get to the big supermarkets, they do great.

The Honeycrisp proves consumers

are willing to pay more for a better apple.

It finally breaks the apple free from the commodity world.

At long last, Courtier is making good money.

But now everyone wants to grow Honeycrisps and Courtier knows soon it'll just be another

one of those cheap, generic apples.

Meanwhile, Bedford is worried that low-quality Honeycrisps will start to flood the market

and make the apple's good name worthless.

Chapter 4: Trademarks!™ (Or The Fall Of Red, The Tyrant)

Bedford had patented the Honeycrisp,

but the thing with patents is they expire after 20 years

and in a business where trees take five years to grow that's not gonna cut it.

But he knew of an Australian apple company that was doing something radical.

"G'day mate."

"Morning, Isaac. What's on the docket today?"

"Let's have a look."

They had actually trademarked an apple name, and trademarks last forever.

"Just trademarking the apple, mate."

"Beauty, mate, beauty."

A few of these trademarked foreign apples had actually started to show up in the U.S.

So he decided to see if he could make that work with a U.S.-grown apple.

He could.

He hadn't quite gotten it right for Honeycrisp,

but he did with the next apple: SweeTango.

He licensed it to Courtier.

Now, even if someone else grew the same apple,

they couldn't use the same name.

If you own the trademark, you decide who can grow or sell your apple.

You manage the market.

The world of different apple brands exploded around the Red Delicious.

Envy, Cosmic Crisp, Jazz, Kanzi, Lady Alice, RubyFrost, SnapDragon, Pink Lady.

So when you're in a store today, you're not just looking at a bunch of apples,

you are looking at the legacy of the miracle apple —

the freedom from the commodity world and

the big business of a small fruit, grown in part from that moment Bedford tasted that

sweet, crisp apple on Tree 1711 in 1983.

Draymond Green Responds to 'Old' Charles Barkley Saying He Wants Someone to Punch Him in the Face - Duration: 1:17.

For Complex News, I'm Pierce Simpson, and Draymond Green hopes Charles Barkley keeps

that same energy when he sees him in the streets.

This emerging talk stemmed from Tuesday nights Golden State Warriors playoff game against

the Pelicans.

Towards the end of the first half, things got heated, with Draymond and Rajon Rondo

getting into each other's faces.

While recapping this moment on TNT's Inside the NBA, Barkley point-blank said "I just

want somebody to punch him in the face."

When asked to elaborate, he just said he wants Draymond punched in the face.

Draymond caught wind of Barkley's comment, and kept it funky during the post-game press

conference.

"If you're not going to punch me in my face when you see me, then shut up.

It's no different than somebody sitting behind a computer screen tweeting, 'I'll knock you

out,' and you never seen them in life.

But he's seen me a bunch of times, and he'll see me again this year.

Punch me in the face when you see me, or if not no one cares what you would have done.

You old and it is what is.

So if you ain't going to punch me when you see me, then stop talking about it.

Period."

- via House of Highlights

Green, who had 20 points and 12 assists in the Warriors' win, basically equated Barkley

to a Twitter troll.

And while Draymond and Rajon kept it petty throughout the rest of the game, Barkley hasn't

responded to Draymond's comments.

Charles Barkley has always been outspoken, no matter who he pisses off.

Hopefully this doesn't lead to him actually getting into a fight.

For Complex News, I'm TK; for more stories like this, keep it locked right here to Complex

on YouTube.

2017 Porsche 718 Cayman Review | Edmunds - Duration: 9:40.

CARLOS LAGO: The Porsche Cayman has always

been one of the most traditional sports cars

in the brand's lineup.

Let's see if this new version can live up to that promise.

There are many changes for this next generation of the Cayman,

but the one you'll notice first is that it's

called the 718 Cayman.

Now, that name comes from an old Porsche historic race car

that you may not know closely or may not know well.

But the big change that it implies

is that this car now uses a four-cylinder engine.

The previous car had a six-cylinder.

The two-liter flat-four that's turbocharged

in this particular Cayman has 300 horsepower,

and this car also has a seven-speed dual clutch

transmission that makes for very quick shifts.

Now, like all Caymans and Boxsters,

the engine is positioned between the rear wheels and the seats,

so it makes for a nice balance.

And it maintains this lightweight handling

characteristic that makes this car so much fun to drive.

Up next, let's take a closer look.

Inside the Cayman, especially the base model,

it's a pretty stripped-down experience.

Not in terms of build quality and craftsmanship--

that all lines up nice-- but in terms of features and whatnot.

Really, all you have on the center console right here

is the ability to make the ride worse

and turn stability control off, as well as lift the spoiler

and turn off the stop/start.

But what's important about a sports car

like this is that everything you care about when driving quickly

is laid out neatly and clearly in front of you.

And that something Porsche has always excelled at.

Looking forward, I love the gauge clusters,

how you have a large center tachometer that's

clear and easy to read.

And off to the side are the ancillary information,

like the analog speedometer and other information

that you can flip through.

Let's turn the car on and look through some of that.

[STARTING ENGINE]

Now the engine's on, we can take a closer look

at some of the displays here.

On the far right display, you have

this really cool multi-configurable digital

display that you can switch between general vehicle

overviews to the nav to your audio settings

to your trip information.

I really like this layout, because it gives you

an extra ability to customize and show

all the information you want to see.

The steering wheel is nicely laid out,

with good detents for your hands.

And it gives you a pretty good view of the gauge cluster.

I like that the red line on the tach

is almost at the bottom of the tach.

So at the top of the rim, if you put

that in a way that blocks out the tach,

you can still see red line.

Although it's an automatic, so it's

still going to upshift automatically,

but it's a nice thing to have.

This thing on the bottom right here, this little rotary dial,

is interesting.

It's going to switch between your various sport modes.

You have your sport, you have your sport plus,

and an individual setting that you can customize.

As I go into sport, you can hear the exhaust gets a little bit

louder, the reds jump up a little bit,

and that activates the firm suspension setting and a couple

of other items as well.

There's also a button right here that if I click,

it goes into what's called the sport response mode, which

gives you 20 seconds in the lowest possible gear you

can access.

And it gets the engine working a little bit harder.

It's for quick acceleration, like if you

need to pass somebody on a two-lane road.

We only have 300 horsepower from the two-liter flat-four

behind us.

And that may sound like a lot, but you

realize a lot of sports cars in this price range

have a lot more than that, upwards of 400 to 500.

Fortunately, this thing's still lightweight.

But what I want to get to is that even though that power may

not seem like much versus similarly priced sports cars,

it still feels pretty broad in application.

Ahead of the shifter, we have this touchscreen display

that works really nice.

When you take your hand away, the lower smart bar disappears.

But as you move your hand closer,

it shows up so you can know what to tap.

It's a pretty quick-reacting and attractive screen

that you can use for reference, but it doesn't

dominate the experience.

Because the experience, when it comes down to it in this car,

is driving.

[ENGINE ROARING]

This Cayman is a very traditional sports car.

Doesn't have a ton of power because its focus is primarily

on balance, being lightweight, being controllable, being

precise, and, as a consequence of all that stuff,

being very fun, too.

You don't have to have 400, 500, 600 horsepower

to enjoy yourself.

You can do that by just having the controls feel

delicate and nice to your fingertips.

So how does the Cayman feel when it's doing all that stuff?

Well, on this tight road course, which

is a pretty tight and not terribly quick road course,

it feels very good.

This is the car that's going to be very

satisfying on a winding track.

And a lot of that has to do with just the inherent nimbleness

of this car.

This is a small, lightweight car with the engine

right behind my back, and that affects the handling

characteristics in a bunch of ways.

So this not being the S, it doesn't

have a locking differential, doesn't have a lot of features,

the more performance-y features that people often

talk about when they talk about sports cars.

But there's still a couple of qualities

in this thing that make it feel very fun,

and it's very engaging still.

The weight balance is one of them.

Because the engine's right behind me,

that moves the weight of the car to a very specific point

in the car.

And that means when you're going around a constant radius

corner like this, you hear that understeer.

That's the front tires giving up grip.

But as you come off the gas pedal,

the weight that's behind you is going

to want to swing out, kind of like a pendulum.

There's some momentum there that's

going to want to keep going, even

when the front tires are giving up.

That's not going to translate into an oversteer,

but it's going to make the rear want to urge the car.

And by living off the throttle slightly,

you can keep provoking that movement in a way that helps

the front end bite in more.

Now, we have this dual-clutch transmission,

and the logic of it is very smart.

As soon as I get hard on the brakes,

it's going to downshift to second right

there, control that downshift really well, match the speed,

and upshift right when you expect it to.

If you're going around a road course, of course

you're going to shift at peak power or at redline.

You might need to short shift at some point,

because it would be difficult to move the shifter yourself.

But when you have an automatic like this,

you don't even need to worry about it.

You can just focus on the steering,

throttle, and break control.

That's really nice.

What we have to talk about, though, is this engine.

When we moved to this generation and when

Porsche changed the Cayman and the Boxster

to the 718 name designation, that came with a decrease

in cylinder count.

We went to a flat six to a flat four.

Now, power increased.

Fuel economy didn't change much.

And there's something to be said about the efficiency there,

because you're working with the same amount of power,

roughly, the same amount of fuel economy,

roughly, but you have fewer cylinders.

So there isn't an efficiency improvement.

That said, the removal of that flat six engine,

what went with it is also the sound that engine made.

And that was a sweet, beautiful sound

that when you got to redline, it just

made you want to do it again and again.

And that's what led to a lot of the driving

excitement of that car.

It was just a beautiful, beautiful sounding engine.

This flat-four-- some people like it.

I don't.

I think it's very coarse.

I think it's aggressive, but it's

a sound that's very loud, again, very granular, almost

agricultural, in a sense, to my ears.

And it's something that doesn't make me want

to go to redline as frequently.

It makes me want to short shift so I

don't have to hear it as much.

This is a matter of personal preference and of taste.

And you could see similarities between the sound

of this engine and classical four-cylinder Porsche engines.

I definitely hear it.

I still don't like the sound much.

It's OK if you do.

In fact, you'll be happier because you can get this car

new with a four-cylinder, and I can't get it

with a six-cylinder.

So you win anyway.

Now, we also have to talk about the way

the gearing is laid out.

This car has 300 horsepower, which

is plenty in today's world.

And if you look at the acceleration results we got,

it's quick enough.

Still, when you're driving down the street--

not when you're on the track like we are now,

but when you're on the street-- the gearing feels very tall.

If you want to make a car feel slow,

no matter how much power it has, it

keeps stretching that gearing out,

because the engine still has to work through the power band.

And that's the case with this car.

We have seven forward gears.

Why does second need to go all the way to 71 miles an hour?

Why does third need a stretch above 100?

I wish Porsche had done something

that Chevy did with their 10-speed, which

is really tighten up the ratios on the gearbox.

You have seven gears.

Why not use them?

Make them really close, tight together,

so that way it will make this engine, which

isn't very peaky-- it's broadly powerful-- but it'll still

make a little bit more exciting to keep on the boil.

But backing away from the granular complaints,

this is still a fantastic handling car.

Low weight, agile steering, powerful brakes, solid power,

good visibility.

The nimbleness that you just feel at every part of the car.

This is a very engaging and fun car to throw around.

This is basically what sports cars should be.

Sports cars aren't about overkill power.

It's about everything working together in concert so it

feels satisfying to drive.

These cars are more toys than machines

of destroying your friends' times and stuff on dragstrip

and road course.

This is all about the experience of driving.

But I think that's what makes me not like the engine sounds

so much, is because the experience of driving to me

is the engine sound, amongst everything else.

And so if I'm not a fan of the engine sound,

that's going to diminish my experience

of driving the car as well.

While the Cayman's four-cylinder engine

may lack the excitement you'd expect from a Porsche,

we're sure the handling and the styling

will make up for it for many.

Spontaneous Alien Life - Duration: 3:55.

When contemplating astrobiology and the broad idea of consciousness in the universe there

are really two ways to think about it.

The first is the standard view of life arising on a world through chemistry and then evolution

taking over and allowing, or not allowing, life to move towards complexity.

But there actually is another option for the genesis of life, or consciousness to arise

independently of evolution or even biochemistry.

The factors that define this hypothetical alternate option for life are time and the

size of the universe rather than biochemistry.

Unfortunately, we don't actually know how big the universe really is.

We may never be able to know.

We can only know about the observable universe, that which is close enough for us to see.

But that's not all of it, some fraction of the universe is simply too far away to

be seen.

We don't know how large of a fraction that is.

There comes a point where there is simply too much expanding space between you and another

part of the universe to allow for light traveling at a finite speed to ever reach you.

So how much of the universe lies beyond our view?

We have no idea.

It could be a small amount, a large amount, or even infinity.

The latter has huge ramifications.

If infinite, all possible things will eventually happen, including nearly exact copies of earth

and us, think infinite earths and infinite you varying in minor details.

But what's particularly relevant here is that the more universe you have, and the more

time you have, the odds for chance occurrences rises.

In an infinite universe, chance occurrences are bound to happen, including life arising

from spontaneous arrangements of atoms rather than from a chemical process.

In other words, by pure chance, a bacterium could appear from nothing.

Or more.

This idea relates to a thought experiment known as a Boltzmann brain, first advanced

by physicist Ludwig Boltzmann in 1896.

He suggested that if you wait a long enough time, and I mean a seriously long time, far

longer than the current age of the universe, eventually by sheer chance atoms could assemble

into a conscious brain, either aware or completely unaware of the universe around it.

This scales up.

Again, with enough time in an infinite universe, a giant superintelligent supercomputer, complete

with a power source, could spontaneously occur and start thinking in the same way that if

you have a group of monkeys typing on typewriters, given enough time one of them will type out

the complete works of Shakespeare perfectly.

It may take trillions of years, but it will, purely by chance, eventually happen.

But, time is a tricky thing in that we don't know how much time is left for this universe.

Some think that the proton will eventually decay, if so there may not be enough time

for a boltzmann brain scenario to occur in a finite universe.

Then again, in an infinite universe, it may well already have occured, or even must have

occured.

The implications of an infinite universe is probably the most mind-boggling thing that

I know of, and while this is entirely sci fi speculation on my part, I wonder if a boltzmann

brain supercomputer is out there somewhere in infinity that came into existence already

simulating a universe of its own, complete with consciousnesses existing within it in

a simulated reality.

Forever cosmic fever dreams wholly unaware of their true nature.

DIY Decoupage Vase | How To Tutorial | Upcycle - Duration: 12:36.

Welcome back to DIY No Need To Cry with Ivelisse

Hi my crafty family, today I'll be showing you how I made this blue and yellow damask

vase.

DIY Decoupage Vase A How-To Tutorial & Upcycle, please turn on your notification bells so

that you get notified every time I upload a video, let's get started.

I found this vase in someones trash.

I liked the size and shape of it so I grabbed it.

I didn't know what I was going to do with it at the time but I knew it was a great piece

for an upcycle!.

Before anything I made sure that I washed it out thoroughly.

Using a pouncer brush and white, matte, acrylic paint, I gave the whole vase a coat.

Some of you have had trouble with this part so I'm going to take you through this and

give you some tips that might help.

First off you want to make sure to use a matte or chalk paint for this part.

Second, you don't have to use a pouncer brush but I personally like the way it distributes

the paint over a brush.

You want to load the brush with paint only.

Do not wet the brush or water down the paint.

Ponce the paint on, do not brush it on and make sure to distribute all of the paint before

loading the brush again and don't keep going over the same spot.

The first coat is not meant to make it opaque.

You should end up with a very thin coat of white paint as you see here.

Let that fully dry before adding another coat.

In between coats, so you don't waste time washing your brush after every coat, wrap

your brush in plastic wrap so that the paint doesn't dry out and ruin the brush.

While the vase dries, you want to prepare the designs you will be decoupaging.

I used 3 of these blue damask napkins to decorate my vase.

I cut each one out, including the half pieces because I'll be using those for the vase

as well.

Once you've cut them out you want to separate the plies of paper.

Prepare all your designs the same way.

You don't have to use paper napkins.

You can use fabric, printouts, tissue or anything else you can glue down really.

Now that the vase is fully dry it's time to decoupage.

Using a brush, mod podge, and the napkin cutouts, you can now create the design.

Before gluing them down, you might want to arrange them on the vase to get an idea of

how you want them.

Brush an even layer of Mod Podge on the spot where you'll be placing the napkin design.

Make sure you don't have glops of glue before placing it and try and work quickly as you

don't want the glue to dry before placing the napkin.

Place the napkin and using a piece of plastic wrap, smooth the napkin down and work out

any of the wrinkles.

Always work from the center outward.

Then give it another coat of Mod Podge to seal it in, again working from the center

outward .

Continue to place each design the same way.

I took to long placing this piece after spreading the glue and some of the bottom dried out.

I was lucky enough to be able to lift the napkin without it tearing but that's not

always the case.

I find that the quality of the napkin plays a huge part in how easy it is to work with.

I've worked with all kinds of napkins and the napkins that are made specifically for

decoupaging, I feel, are way more resilient than others.

They glue down with fewer wrinkles and are easier to smooth out.

Cheaper napkins aren't as durable and will rip way easier.

They will absorb the glue to the point that you can barley smooth it out without ripping

it.

They also tend to wrinkle more.

Basically what I'm saying is that it's not just learning the technique of decoupage

that will determine the outcome.

The kind and quality of the paper napkin have a lot to do with it as well.

At least in my opinion.

Like I tell everyone, this technique has a learning curve.

If you're having trouble with decoupage or it's your first time trying it… don't

go straight to the project.

Buy some cheap paper napkins from the dollar store and practice before attempting it on

the big project with the good napkins.

I decided to cut a piece of the design to decoupage the rim of the vase.

let that side completely dry before continuing.

You want to do the exact same pattern to the other side.

I'm trying to make sure it's as evenly spaced out on both sides as it can be and

also get the top part to be the same height as the other side.

I glued the top part first so that I could let it go and do the rest without losing its

position.

Finish that side and let that completely dry before starting the next section.

Here you see I've already done the space in between, on this side, now I'm just going

to duplicate the same thing on the last side left.

You're going to need 5 of the damask designs for this.

I put 2 full ones aside and cut the rest of the desings out from the remaining 3.

Now cut out a matching design.

Then I cut the last one out as you see here.

I then decoupaged them down in this order.

To complete the look I added two more of these to each of the remaining sides of the rim.

And here is the completed design on the vase.

You can leave it as is and seal it or add color to it as I'll be doing.

I find that for this I like to use a small paintbrush and thin the paint down with a

little bit of water.

One of the most asked questions I get is, why can't I just paint the vase all yellow

first and then do the decoupage?

Most paper napkins will require you to use a white base coat in order for it to look

right… or at the very least it has to be a very light color so that the paper napkin

doesn't get muted out by the paint color.

Honestly, you probably could paint it yellow first because the blue in this napkin is so

dark that it might be fine.

What you can do is test a small piece of the napkin on something else to see if you like

it or not.

I personally didn't want the middle of the designs to be yellow as well so even if it

did work I wouldn't have done it.

So for any decoupage, test out the color you want to use as the base coat with a piece

of your desired design and see how it looks before committing to it.

I gave it a second coat once the first one was dry and let that dry.

You can leave it as is or outline all the designs with white acrylic paint as I did

to give it that pop.

I used a thin brush and thinned out the paint for this part as well.

And finally, seal it with your favorite sealer or give it a few more coats of Mod Podge.

Well my crafty fam, seeing as I wasn't feeling so good this past week I decided to take the

opportunity to make my vase.

This was an easy one as I had already done one similar to it, so I knew exactly how to

execute the idea.

I also wanted to try and help those of you who are having trouble with this technique

and to answer some questions about it.

I hope this tutorial was helpful and that you decide to give it another try.

I do love how it came out and I really enjoy making this style vase.

Remember that you can switch the colors to fit your decor or event.

As always have fun be creative and make a mess!

Accommodations for DHH Students in General Ed - Duration: 6:37.

Hello everyone! Today I would like to

talk about the accommodations that can be put

in place in a general education classroom

in order to fit the needs of deaf and hard of hearing students.

The things that I will be talking about today

are by no means an exhaustive list of the different things

that can be put in place in order

to accommodate the needs of deaf and hard of hearing students but

are a mere starting point of things to consider when creating

a 504 plan or an IEP

It is also worth noting that

not every single thing on this video will

be effective for each and every deaf and hard of hearing

student and that these accommodations will vary

from student to student as parents

family members,

and other members of the child study team

collaborate in order to figure out

which accommodations will best suit each child

when working towards their goals.

One thing that I would like to do first is

to define what exactly an accommodation is.

And an accommodation by definition is:

anything that provides access to communication and instruction for the student.

The first type of accommodation that I would like to talk about would be

the amplification accommodation.

So the amplification options typically

include a students' personal hearing device and

something else so a personal hearing device could be

a cochlear implant, a hearing aid, or a BAHA and those

are worn specifically by the student

and it may be used in conjunction with another amplification option in the classroom

One of the first one's being an FM system

An FM system is something that is paired directly with the student's

personal device: their hearing aid, cochlear implant or something else

and has the teacher wearing a microphone or may have a pass microphone

that hands -that is handed from student to student

and the sound that is going from the speaker's voice- from the microphone

goes directly into the student's personal hearing device.

Therefore nobody else in the classroom

can hear it. The teacher cannot hear the amplified sound

The students cannot hear the amplified sound because it is paired directly with the

deaf or hard of hearing student's personal device.

Another option would be a soundfield system

This is similar to an FM system but

has slight differences. In this case the student's

personal device is not hooked up to the soundfield system

It does require the use of a microphone by the teacher

and possibly even the students via a pass around microphone

And the whole class can hear the

sound that is amplified

so this is not something that directly goes into the student's device

but is something that can be heard by everybody.

The next type of accommodation that I will be talking about

is communication accommodations

These are any accommodations that

have to do with the information that is conveyed between

the deaf and hard of hearing student, the teacher

and his or her peers.

One of the ways this can be done is preferential seating.

And preferential seating is exactly what is sounds like. It's

just that the student who is deaf or hard of hearing has better access

to the person that is the main speaker. So this may mean

that the student is sitting closer to the teacher or

up front and this way the student has better access

to the sounds directly coming from the speaker's voice but

also any visuals that may be conveyed

And in terms of seating arrangements

and desks and stuff like that,

preferential seating may be in a U shape or in an O shape

a circular shape

so that the student has visual of all of the people that are speaking

or potential speakers in the room.

The final thing is

to check for understanding on a frequent basis.

Especially when a lot of information is being conveyed

in a short period of time

it's very easy for a student to get a little bit

confused or lost so

in order to check in with that student

just make sure that they

get all of the information that you conveyed

so that nobody is confused.

The next type of accommodation that I would like to talk about is a physical environment accommodation.

And that is exactly what it sounds like

it is any accommodation that is made

for the physical structure of the classroom.

To make sure that there are flashing lights that accompany fire alarms

To make sure that the students have that visual

stimulation as well

to make sure that they know what's going on

and not just have to rely on the sounds from the fire alarm itself.

And then the last one would be noise reduction.

just in any sense

This could be making sure that the ceil-

that the kid is in a room that has lower ceilings

to make sure that maybe there is carpeting in the schools so

that there is better acoustics.

And if that's not possible just

making sure that there is something like tennis balls

on the bottom of chairs to avoid the screeching of chairs

on a classroom tile floor.

The last type of accommodations that

I want to talk about are instructional accommodations.

So one of the first things is to use visuals.

So like I have said previously,

deaf and hard of hearing students typically

are very visual learners

and it is important to use something like a SMART board

or a document camera that can project any information

in a very large way

so that students can see what you are talking about, in addition to

hearing that information as well

Having both the auditory and the visual

information will help the students be a lot more successful.

In addition, to use classroom captioning.

There are different ways -they're called CART or C-Print

or something like that

where the speaker wears a microphone

and then the voice- the speech that is

given by the speaker is then

transcribed into text.

In addition, all videos, like this one, should

be captioned using closed captioning.

And it is important to notice that even when

you're looking at videos online, let's say YouTube or something like that

It's important to screen those videos

before you show them because sometimes the captions that are....that are created

during their automatic captioning are

a little bit off

So just to make sure that the captions are true

to what you want them to be and

to make sure that they're completely accessible.

A last thing could just be to have a note taker

or a buddy system for notes

this way the student can just take in all the information

auditorally and visually

and does not need to rely on looking up and down from the speaker to their notes

from the speaker, to their notes in order to get the information.

Garlic: protect the health of many aspects - Duration: 7:16.

Health Network, For Public Health

Hi, you are listening to audio on mangyte.vn website

Garlic:protect the health of many aspects

Garlic contains a variety of biological active ingredients, so it has the ability to protect health and prevent disease is very strong.

This article outlines the new features of garlic.

1. Ingredients of garlic.

Garlic contains nutrients, but also contains characteristic odor, and other ingredients, the main constituents of which are sulfur organic compounds and glycosides.

In addition, the garlic contains germanium and selenium physiological, clearly visible in very high content, in which the germanium content of garlic, always much higher than the germanium content contained in ginseng, green tea, red tea , et cetera.

The "raw" effect of garlic is mainly allycin.

In fresh garlic, there is no free allycin, only its precursor is the allynin enzyme, persists in garlic with no foul odor.

Once the garlic is minced, the enzyme in the garlic is activated, promoting allynin to form allycin, which is unstable, when exposed to heat or organic solvents, will dissolve into sulfur compounds.

The sulfur content in garlic is more than 30, with diallyl sufide being the most active sulfur compound.

2. The miraculous effect of garlic.

Anti-bacterial "bodyguard":sulfur compound in garlic, has a strong antimicrobial effect, ancient, which is considered a natural antiseptic, is called natural antibiotic.

Thousands of years ago, China, Egypt, India, Vietnam, application of garlic for food, as well as traditional medicine.

Long-term use helps prevent the flu, and infections from bacteria and viruses.

In addition, garlic also inhibits the bacteria that cause intestinal diseases, helping regulate the digestive system.

Cancer of the carcinoma:sulfur compounds in garlic, not only directly kill tumor cells, but also through the alleyway, have indirect effects on tumor cells.

Nitrate is a precursor to carcinogenic nitrosamines. Nitrate inhibits the ingestion of nitrite, which inhibits the formation of nitrosamines, thereby preventing stomach cancer.

Garlic also can prevent the invasion of toxic chemicals, heavy metals, toxins and carcinogens to the body.

In addition, garlic also inhibits the growth of skin cancer, rectal cancer, esophagus, nose, throat, liver, because of the garlic prevents the formation of free radicals, In garlic contains many germanium and selenium, help the body against mutations, increase the anti-cancer.

Scientific research shows that eating garlic daily, helps to antiseptic, increasing longevity.

People usually eat garlic, the incidence of gastric cancer is less than 50%, compared to people who do not usually eat garlic.

Moreover, people who eat a lot of garlic, the rate of rectal cancer is very low.

The best chopped fish is finely chopped, and let in the air for 10 to 15 minutes to eat.

"Toilet Worker" of blood vessels:Garlic inhibits the absorption of cholesterol, reduces the absorption of cholesterol in the small intestine, thereby helping to balance cholesterol.

Everybody knows, many diseases are caused by excessive blood fat, many daily foods such as egg yolks, animal internal organs, fatty meat, and so on, after eating will lead to increased blood fat, if Eat with garlic, the direction of increase in blood fat will be controlled.

In addition to reducing blood fat, garlic also inhibits platelet accumulation, preventing the formation of thrombosis, so garlic is a preventive effect against cardiovascular disease.

German cardiologists have discovered that people's aorta often eat garlic, which is richer in elasticity than non-garlic.

Besides, garlic also has a certain reduction effect.

Patients with hypertension, every morning eat a few cloves garlic soaked vinegar will help lower blood pressure.

Immune Guard:The garlic contains a lot of useful substances for the body, immune cells, immunity, and immune function are not specific to the body.

Allycin contained in garlic, triggers cell swallowing in the tumor, increases the number of neutrophils, phagocytes and lymphocytes, encapsulates cancer cells, causing degeneration or death as a result of dissolution. , thereby increasing the body's immunity, delaying aging.

3. Eat garlic the most effective way?

Grate:The best garlic is finely chopped, and let in air for 10 to 15 minutes to eat.

Because there is no free allycin in garlic, only after chopping, under the effect of enzymes, garlic releases new allycin.

Therefore, if you want to achieve the best health protection:

- If the garlic is not minced to cook, the enzyme will lose its effect, not releasing the effective ingredient is allycin, lose efficiency up to 90%.

- If cooked freshly, can be through the effect of enzymes, release allycin with a more stable structure, even if cooked, preserves 60% pharmacological effects.

Not much to eat is good:garlic has miraculous effect, but not much to eat is good.
