Good morning folks! It is now Saturday morning and time for the second day of Summer in the City.
Now it's a lovely lovely sunny day again, there's my view out the window
and it's about 10:30 in the morning right now so I'm gonna take a wander over to the convention.
I am gonna take my hoodie with me again as I did yesterday
but it's been so sunny I don't think I'm gonna have to wear it. So anyway, let's get over there!
There seems to be a lot more people going past today compared to yesterday,
there seem to be a lot more people walking this way which is really really cool.
I think I maybe left earlier yesterday but it's still really nice to see more people heading towards the ExCel.
So again I've got my lovely lovely view.
I just tripped over the curb there, I chose my moment to start vlogging.
So anyways I have to go and register again because the wristband is like a different color every day
and then I'm gonna go and explore.
I'm in the YouTuber lounge right now and you can get coasters printed
and I've got ones with my dogs on here, I am so so obsessed with these, I absolutely love them.
I've got four in total and I just never thought that this would be a thing
that you could get done at SitC, but I love that it is.
Guess who I've found? It's Emma! Otherwise known as DarkStarMedia.
Emma: You're the first person who's recognized me, I have a soft spot for you forever.
I'd put my arm around you but I'm eating a Calippo Kate: Yeah, priorities.
Emma: I'm making a great impression! Kate: No no, it's fine.
My channel understand that food is more important than friends.
Emma: It is... Kate: There's no shame in that.
Emma: ...which is a really good thing to say at a networking event
where there are people but there's also food. Kate: But everybody goes to the food first
and then they see who's there. Emma: I had just a sausage roll to sustain me getting into London
and then Inés was like "Oh, there's bagels by the way". Kate: Yeah, that's what we're all about.
I'm going for one of them in a minute I think.
You just described your channel in a very interesting way, would you like to tell you my adventurers?
Emma: Instead of like a 30-second pitch it's like a 30 minute pitch.
I'm that friend that you don't quite know why you keep her around but she knows some interesting stuff
and there's probably a charm about her, you think "Alright, she'll do, she's okay".
She's probably a good person at the heart of it all, I mean aren't we really all just complex complicated people?
And she likes words and words are interesting and yeah, you should subscribe to my channel.
Kate: Yes! Who doesn't want that? Emma: Come on Apprentice, hire me
Do I not know how to pitch a business? Kate: Come on Alan Sugar!
Emma: I'm wearing question marks in my ear.
If that doesn't tell people that I'm obsessed with words and punctuation, I don't know what does.
Kate: So DarkStarMedia, her real name's Emma,
I'm gonna put the details in the description so you can go and check her out.
And I'm gonna come round here and speak to...
Inés has the most amazing tights on today by the way, so cool!
Inés: There we are. Emma: If you yank them up enough will the cat smile? [LAUGHTER]
Inés: They probably stretch out, I always feel the cats should be on my knees.
Kate: It's like the bee's knees, these are the cat's knees.
Inés: I am the cat's superior. Or perior, as you see it.
Kate: So what's your channel about? Inés: I run a channel called Draw Curiosity,
It's about science and I try and tell fun entertaining things about science.
that I'm like "That's a cool story, I wanna tell someone else."
Kate: Fantastic! I'm one of those people who always thought I didn't like science
and then I'll start watching a science show and then I'll just be like "Actually that's the coolest thing ever!"
It's one of them things, I think science is for everybody really.
So her details are in the description as well, go check her out she's amazingly cool.
Inés: Thank you! Kate: No problem!
There's a full on bad weather storm going on here now
and I feel like I should be indoors but at the same time it's so funny to just see people
sitting outside and going "Oh dear" instead of actually being too concerned about the whole thing
which is really really funny. So there's been like lightning and thunder and things and various flashes
and we're just kind of still outside, it's still really nice and peaceful out here.
I can't actually even feel the rain to be honest, but it's not a very nice day. At all.
So it looks very different from yesterday and even this morning this morning was-
Did you see that? Big flash of lightning Yeah, it looks so different from this morning.
[HUGE THUNDER CLAP]
That was a thunderclap that just shook the building, or at least the building seemed to shake at that moment
and it just feels really really intense
and like I say I feel like I should be indoors but it's so peaceful and nice out here
at least where I am that I'm not sure I really feel the need.
So pray for me, if I get electrocuted it's because I'm enjoying this lifestyle too much.
I feel like I haven't updated in ages, but I've been hanging out with various people
looking around the venue. Do you wanna say hi, Mackenzie?
Mackenzie: Hello! How are you? Kate: You do like travel and things don't you?
Mackenzie: I live in London, I'm from America so it's kind of my adventures in London.
Kate: I think we're pretty compatible, I'll put her details down in the description
so you can go and check her out, give her some love. We've also got- they're not paying attention-
Oh there we go, we've got Charli! Charli: Hello!
Kate: Charli is absolutely awesome, I'm definitely gonna put her details in the description.
I'm a fan! I should be paying for a Meet and Greet. Charli: I'm just glad that we've finally met
cause we've talked on Twitter for so long. Kate: It's crazy isn't it? That's all you have to do.
Smay sent me New Zealand candy so I've put up that video this week
and then I meet you, that's all you have to do. Charli: In with the Kiwis, yeah.
Kate: One Kiwi and then suddenly you know them all. Girl: Hi Vlog!
Kate: Hello! You wanna say hi? Girls: Hi! [LAUGHTER]
Kate: Sandra do you wanna say hello? Sandra: Hi!
Sandra is Slovenian and she's absolutely lovely. You do beauty as well don't you?
Sandra: I started with beauty but now I'm doing travel and living abroad.
Kate: I know your videos as ones about living in London and things,
I don't think I've ever watched any beauty videos from you so I suppose it's time for a rebrand.
Sandra: Yeah, I haven't done them in a while.
Kate: And Tim's super busy being the film documenterer. Sandra: Super serious.
Tim: I can't help it! Kate: Do you wanna say hi, Tim? Tim: Hey!
Kate: I'll put his details down below, all of them I'll put down below.
And this lady here seems to be giving us spots. Charli: I'm not so sure I'm keen.
[Voices fade out] [CHEERY MUSIC]
[CHEERY MUSIC]
I feel like I've had such a busy day and now I'm back here at the Creator lounge again
because it's a lot more it's a lot more relaxed up here, I really like it up here.
I was up here before and I saw my friend Charli so we met up
and we've just been hanging around for the day and we've seen so many things, we've had so much fun.
It's about like eight o'clock at night now maybe?
I don't even know. Maybe 6. 8 seems really late. But I can't believe the event's still going on.
It's really cool. So I'm just kind of hanging around here for a while.
I've still got a blue slush with me that I'm trying to finish.
And then...I might go to the pub. Is that bad?
I do need to pack up my hotel room later, maybe I shouldn't but it's all good.
Creator day was very quiet compared to today. The fangirls have arrived in their droves.
And that's not necessarily a bad thing, it's just different, it's a different atmosphere.
Yesterday I felt like the creators felt that they could wander around a bit
kind of go onto the floor, say hi to people.
I didn't see that so much today. I saw people kind of being chased after and things
which, you know, it was a lot more respectful from in the US,
I don't feel like there was any screaming and running towards people
but it was a different atmosphere all the same, there was a lot more fangirling as opposed to yesterday
I came back to my hotel room about an hour ago maybe.
Because I thought I'd just kind of dump my stuff there and kind of relax for a bit
and now I'm going to collect Amara
because I said that she could hang out with me in my hotel room so here we go.
So I'm just kind of heading back to the venue to see if I can find her
because she doesn't know London very well and I don't want her to get lost like I got lost.
So that's gonna happen, we'll maybe be doing a collab, we maybe won't, we'll just see how things go.
Amara's trying her first Irn Bru. Amara: I'm nervous I'll horribly represent something
Kate: This is the original, the ones with the "O" are the ones that people's copied them.
That's the trademark one. Amara: Walmart has beverages that it does that to.
Amara: It looks like orange soda but I'm doubting it is orange soda.
Oh, that smells like all of the fruit in the entire universe at once plus sugar.
We have a gum called Juicy Fruit in the US. If it was carbonated liquid...[LAUGHTER]
Kate: Whenever I meet an American, usually it's like in Meet and Greets and things,
I always bring teacakes with me, it's like my thing, teacakes.
I've given them to Taylor Swift, Lady Antebellum, Chloe from Dance Moms, I've given her some
Actually the whole cast of Dance Moms have had teacakes off me.
It's kind of like a biscuit base and then it's got marshmallow on the top
and then it's covered in chocolate.
Well that has been another lovely day at Summer in the City
I'm now kinda sitting, just trying to summon up the energy to get ready for bed
because that takes energy and I'm past the point where I want to get ready for bed, now I just wanna go to bed.
I'll be ducking out early tomorrow because I have to fly home but other than that
I think it's gonna be a great day and I had a wonderful day today
and I think tomorrow's gonna be equally awesome, it's gonna be a great ending to a great event.
So I hope you've been enjoying this, I'm sorry if this one's been patchy
I feel like event vlogs can be a little weird.
Because you want to watch panels and you want to connect with people
and it's not always appropriate to whip out a camera and start talking in those scenarios and things
so I'm trying to like fill in the blanks where I can, I'm trying to film what's around me when I can
but if there's any massive gaps I'm really really sorry about that and I hope you're all enjoying it anyway.
I hope you're getting to see what it's like for me, if you have any questions put them down below
I'm totally up to answering them and yeah, I hope you enjoyed this vlog.
I'll be back tomorrow for the last day of Summer in the City
and thank you so much for watching everybody, cheerio!
So I came back to my hotel room about an hour ago maybe.
Ooh, it's dark!
I came back to my hotel room about an hour ago maybe...
