[♪♩MUTED PARTY MUSIC]

HI! HOW'S IT GOING?

GREAT PARTY, RIGHT?

In your younger years, throwing a party… it can be really easy.

College-aged party-goers don't often need more than cheap beer and loud music.

I had sophisticated tastes, I also wanted some Super Smash Brothers.

But as an adult, maybe you would like to step up your game and throw a soiree that's memorable

for the right reasons.

Here are some completely unscientific but totally handy Party Pro Tips from a party

pro.

TIP 1: Schedule your shindig!

Decide who you'd like to invite, and ask your friends what time works best for them

in the next couple three weeks, maybe?

You don't need to bend over backwards to make sure that every single person you know

can come, that would probably be impossible, but you can try to accommodate other big events.

TIP 2: Maybe let your neighbors know that you're having some people over for a get-together,

and assure them you'll try to keep the noise down if it's a quiet neighborhood.

If you have the kind of neighbors who will call the cops with a noise complaint, and

you're thinking of going long and going loud, maybe host the party somewhere else.

Talking to cops always ruins parties.

It can be real fun to have a party in, like, some weird space that you actually rent—I

know that that costs money, but people will be kind of excited about it I have found.

But if you do use your house, Tip 3: clean your house.

This might seem a little counterintuitive because probably your house will get a little

destroyed while the party is happening but it's a nice thing to do, and also, guests

will generally behave better if they see that you care about your home.

TIP 4: Plan what kind of beverages you'd like to serve at your party.

Having a mix of beer, wine, hard alcohol, and some non-alcoholic beverage options usually

ensures that there's something everyone will like.

Even if all your guests are totally down to booze it up, it's good to have non-alcoholic

options so you can actually, like, hydrate without getting more drunk.

TIP 5: "BYOB" does not stand for "Bring your own party."

Don't expect your guests to supply everything you need for the party, even if you are hoping

that they'll help out with it, though, I have sometimes ended up with too much beer.

Like, I'll have a lot of beer and a lot of beer gets brought, and then I'm like—what

am I going to do with all of this?

It's a good problem to have.

TIP 6: One word: FOOD.

Every party needs at least some snacks on hand, especially if people are going to be

drinking alcohol.

Snacking also gives people something to do besides just awkwardly standing around.

It doesn't matter if you're not a cook, just… chips and dip.

Everybody loves chips and dip, right?

I think?

TIP 7: Even if you don't think people will show up on time, make sure that your party

is ready to start on time just in case.

You never know when a carload of people are going to show up at exactly 8 p.m. and you're

just getting out of the shower.

TIP 8: Play some upbeat music on a device that you don't have to fiddle with.

Your record collection might be very cool, but it's hard to host a party if you have to keep flipping

your vinyl every 20 minutes.

If you have one, try setting up your stereo or Bluetooth speaker with a Spotify or Pandora

playlist.

TIP 9: As soon as people walk in the door, show them where to put their shoes and their

coat.

After your first guests have settled in, it's kind of important to give them something to

do, especially if they're the first people there.

This is what I do: I have, like, a signature cocktail for every party and I don't make

it myself, I get the first guests who arrive to make the cocktail for me.

Gives them something to do, and also I don't have to make the cocktail.

And finally, TIP 10: If some kind of disaster strikes, which it may, don't freak out.

Maybe a toilet clogged, maybe the dog threw up all over the living room.

Just chill, laugh, ask your friends to help, and let the party continue.

Sometimes, the best parties are the ones where everyone has to band together to help fix

a problem.

Unless the problem is a fire.

Evacuate in case of fire.

That is… tip number 11.

If nobody is on fire, relax.

You're throwing a party.

Cheers!

Thanks for joining the party!

of my amazing dance moves to myself.

But what if I'm talking?

Can you hear it when I'm talking?

'Cause I'm so loud! You can just put the...

What's the thing that limits the low noise?

[Off-Camera] The noise gate.

Yeah, noise gate.

Everybody loves chips and dip, right?

I think?

Absolutes are always incorrect.

But I do think that—come on!

I've been to those parties and I'm like:

This is not—

This is not how it works.

Britney Spears.

...Those outtakes in movies when they have taken the music back out and everybody's just like...

Shuffle, shuffle, shuffle...

[Caitlin] We're really good at parties.

[LAUGHTER]

So good.

[Caitlin to Nick] Can you do a handstand?

[Nick] No.

[LAUGHTER]

Yeah. Balloon.

[Off-Camera] That was beautiful.

[Caitlin] I feel like we're in an episode of Saved by the Bell or something

#BMO200 | The Power of "Home" - Duration: 2:15.

I'm Corey with BMO and we're here to surprise Pat Nixon,

Executive Director of Oxford House.

Alright.

Pat is quite an amazing gentleman

providing housing for people with addictions.

We're going to spruce up one of Pat's houses

with some painting and some gardening.

Surprise!

How you doing?

Hey, how you doing?

I'm really surprised (Chuckles).

(Yeah) Oh my gosh.

One, Two, Three, BMO!

I was kicked out on the streets when I was twelve years old

and by the time I was fifteen I was so messed up.

I found myself basically breaking into houses

to steal anything I could in order to feed my addiction.

And so when I ended up here in,

in Calgary and some people gave me a chance.

They said to me, "Come home with me."

Now that word home is very powerful.

And then I ripped them off.

I took advantage of those guys,

because I fell back into it again and I started messing up.

And finally they said "you gotta leave."

And it was winter and I got busted for armed robbery,

break and enter and auto theft.

So I went into an adult prison

when I was sixteen years old.

This is the amazing part of all this story,

when I was eighteen I was released from prison

and I went back to their home and I knocked on their door.

It's the only place I knew.

He opened up the door and he,

and he looked at me and he says,

"Are you ready to try again?"

And he gave me another chance.

So, I love being here, because I love being at Oxford House,

it's my opportunity to be able to extend that back,

back to somebody else because somebody did for me.

I always talk about community connecting together, like what a,

what a good community looks like,

and this is what it looks like.

It looks like us willing to pick up our pole

and our, our, our paint brush and,

and say, "You know, I'm willing to extend myself beyond

what I do on a day-to-day basis to care for someone else.

And I promise you what you're doing

is not a little thing, it's a huge thing.

Thank you. Thank you so much.

(Cheers).

Actors Whose Careers Were Dead Before Netflix Saved Them - Duration: 5:25.

Not only has Netflix been spearheading a massive change in the Hollywood marketplace as a whole,

but the digital streaming service has also built an original programming slate that's

challenging awards season norms and giving some beleaguered actors another shot at thriving

in the fame game.

Here are some stars who've enjoyed a serious second career wind thanks to Netflix.

Adam Sandler

It's no secret that Adam Sandler's filmography is a divisive one.

Some of his earlier pics earned wide appreciation, like Billy Madison, The Waterboy, and Big

Daddy.

Others were passion projects built for the critical crowd, like Punch Drunk Love and

Funny People.

But some were liked by almost no one, and since it's his commercial success that's carried

Sandler through decades of off-the-wall film fare, that batch of box office bummers and

critical letdowns has become problematic for Sandler.

"The price is wrong, bitch."

Consider the critically obliterated Jack and Jill and his flopped dad comedy That's My

Boy.

Even his would-be smash Pixels failed to live up to the hype, which proved, unmistakably,

that Sandler's signature schtick wasn't landing quite as well as it used to.

But Netflix still had faith in the slapstick comedian and provided him a platform for a

whopping eight movies that people are actually watching.

As of April 2017, a half billion hours of Sandler projects had been screened on the

site, between The Ridiculous 6, The Do-Over, and Sandy Wexler.

With at least a handful of Sandler films left to go on the site, there's no doubt he's a

company man for Netflix now.

Natasha Lyonne

In the '90s, Natasha Lyonne was a bona fide movie star for a brief spell, with leading

roles in films like Slums of Beverly Hills and American Pie.

Somewhere along the way of her gearing up for the sequel she lost her traction in Tinseltown

and she started landing just bit parts in TV shows and little-seen movies.

But Netflix's hit series Orange is the New Black came along at just the right time for

her, as she was still a recognizable enough face, and her talent hadn't budged an inch

in her absence from the spotlight.

In the series, she stars as the troubled inmate Nicky Nichols, who vacillates between being

among the most earnest and intelligent members of the Litchfield prison population to the

most damaged and uncontrollable of the lot.

It's a meaty role for Lyonne to delve into, even if she doesn't appear in every single

episode, and she's started to pick up more prestige work as a result of the series, like

a recurring role in Portlandia.

Ethan Embry

As a child star of the '80s, Ethan Embry was an absolute hit-maker with feel-good holiday

favorites like Dutch and All I Want for Christmas.

Even his teen years were kind to his career, with his memorable supporting roles in Empire

Records, That Thing You Do!, and Can't Hardly Wait.

But somewhere around the turn of the millennium, Embry's star status started to significantly

fade.

He still did enough work to keep the lights on, of course, but the caliber of films and

TV shows he was earning placement in was a far cry from the mainstream movie scene he'd

grown up in.

His recurring role in Netflix's Gracie & Frankie, however, seems to be turning the tide.

Not only is it the first truly regular TV role he'd had in a decade, but it's given

him a chance to fully break away from that wholesome, cherubic boy image he'd been associated

with for so long.

"What do you mean it's looking good.

That's great!

We did it.

Give me high five!"

Brit Marling

This Chicago native has had more than her fair share of splashy screen moments in her

still-young career.

Count Another Earth and Sound of My Voice among her buzziest projects.

But Brit Marling has still had trouble establishing herself as a leading star, despite noteworthy

attempts on the indie circuit, until Netflix came along and gave her fever dream project,

The OA, a chance.

Overnight, she went from that woman you might seen in the background of that one movie to

a completely compelling show creator and lead star whose continued work on the series was

heavily in demand for a second season, and whose future project ideas are undoubtedly

going to get the top-of-the-pile treatment from here on out.

Rosario Dawson

It may be hard to believe that Rosario Dawson's career ever needed a shot in the arm.

But after the actress hit it big with films like Men in Black II, Seven Pounds, and Sin

City, casting directors appeared to cool on the actress for several years before she nabbed

a prime place in the Marvel-Netflix show universe, starting with Daredevil in 2015.

She's since reprised her role as Claire Temple through almost all of the sister properties

and appears to be recapturing her mainstream momentum even outside of the MCU with parts

in The LEGO Batman Movie and X-Men: The New Mutants.

Deborah Ann Woll

True Blood fans were widely taken by then-newcomer Deborah Ann Woll's vexing screen presence,

but she's had a hard time establishing herself outside of Bon Temps ever since that HBO series

came to an end.

Thanks to a series of straight-to-DVD fare, it seemed like Woll might not ever find her

niche outside of the fang-banging scene.

Luckily, she earned a spot in Netflix's Daredevil adaptation just in the nick of time, and now

she's spanning the Netflix-MCU series, with her character Karen Page appearing in The

Punisher and The Defenders.

Winona Ryder

For over a decade, Winona Ryder had reached icon status in Hollywood thanks to her unforgettable

on-screen presence in films like Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice, and Girl, Interrupted.

But her reputation went very south in 2001 when she was caught shoplifting from a department

store.

She had a great deal of trouble reaching the A-list again after that, even despite some

notable performances in films like Black Swan and The Iceman.

But Netflix's Stranger Things has put her right back on the map with her delightfully

off-kilter turn as Joyce Byers, the mother of a boy who's been kidnapped by a toothy

monster.

She's still seen as a little bit of a kook, especially after her ultra-memeable appearance

at the SAG Awards, but thanks to Netflix she's in the news for her acting again, instead

of her legal troubles.

My Vietnam War Story: Ed Laird - Duration: 4:28.

♪♪

>> I graduated

from the Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia,

Pennsylvania in 1965. I had gone through the, um,

Reserve Officers Training Course, Program.

When I graduated and entered the Air Force, uh,

I was a Second Lieutenant. Uh.

My next assignment was to Mather Air Force Base in

California where I went through, um, Undergraduate

Navigator Training. After that, I stayed at

Mather and I went to Advanced Navigator Training.

When you go through Advanced Navigator Training,

you come out as a Radar Navigator and you're

authorized to drop weapons.

Our mission basically was to jam the enemy radar

so that they could not electronically, radar-wise,

lock on to the fighters who were dropping weapons.

We were stationed at a Thai base.

Royal Thai Air Force Base, uh, Takhli is the name

of the place. It was about 60 miles north

of Bangkok. The B-66 was an old bomber,

small airplane that had been converted to, uh,

an electronic warfare capable airplane.

Electronic warfare, uh, electronic counter measures

is what we did, uh, involves, surveying the area.

Looking for signals, radar signals.

Electronic signals that are coming from a piece of

equipment and, uh, if it's hostile, which is what it

was in Vietnam, then we would turn on barrage

jammers and bang, and you know, knock that site down.

We basically went to three different places,

not in the same day. We went up in

Northwest Vietnam on, on some other border.

We went to, uh, South Vietnam, way down

to have the fighters that are coming in from the south,

cover them and then our longest mission was about

five and a half hours and it was up in the gulf right off of

Haiphòng, which is a big port in North Vietnam.

Usually what happened was, the-, the fighters who were

flying that day an-, and dropping weapons would

normally come under us, so that as the radar was

looking in that direction, it would be easier for us to

take it out and, uh, we had communication with them.

We knew what was going on. Uh. Very, very dangerous

mission for them.

>> In B-52's, our mission was to drop bombs.

We carried over 100 bombs in each airplane and uh we had

targets of course to drop the bombs on and sometimes

we would be directed to another target in another

location by a forward air controller on the ground.

We would always fly in, in threes.

We did what they called carpet bombing.

We made a carpet, except with holes and, uh, we

carried normally 108, 500 pounders.

And if you think about the total of ordinance that

we're dropping, we're talking about three

airplanes dropping in basically the same area

to the tune of 324, 500 pounders, so we made

a lot of noise on the ground. We put a lot of holes

in the ground. We, obviously, terminated

some enemy on the ground. And I was very young and,

uh, I can't say I enjoyed it, but I wasn't, um,

I, I felt like we were doing good.

And, uh, as I got older, as I was there longer, and then

went back in B-52's, you know, I could, I could see

that, you know what, we're not winning this war?

You know, are we really accomplishing what we

would like to do? And eventually, you know,

Saigon got overrun. North Vietnam owns all of

Vietnam now and we certainly didn't win.

Uh. I can't say whether we lost.

We did lose a lot of territory or Vietnamese lost

a lot of territory. So my attitude changed,

but, uh, I don't think I was ever anti-war.

Because, you know, I was in Air Force, so my job was to

do my job, so I did it.

Teamwork: Character Quest - JellyTelly 5 Minute Family Devotional - Duration: 2:58.

Welcome to the JellyTelly 5 Minute Family Devotional

Character Quest with Clive and Ian

Teamwork

Today's verse is Ecclesiastes 4:9-10.

"Two people are better than one,

because they get more done by working together.

If one falls down, the other can help him up."

Hello everyone, I'm Clive.

And I'm Ian, today we're…

[Both desynchronized] Today we're going to talk to you about…

Let's try that again.

Today we're gonna talk to you about teamwork!

That's better.

Teamwork is a very important quality -

because when we work together, we can get more done!

And working as a team isn't just about -

getting work done -

it's also about lifting up those that you're working with.

When you work as a team, it's easy to remember

that it's not all about you!

We each have something special that we bring to the table.

That's right. God created us each uniquely And he created us for -

Community!

We're all meant to use our gifts together.

To look after each other!

And to encourage each other! It'd get pretty boring if -

we were always all by ourselves.

We couldn't use a seesaw, or carry heavy boxes,

or play any sports like basketball or football.

And no matter what you do, it's important to remember -

That our goal isn't to look out for ourselves, but to -

care about those around us and to support and encourage everyone.

That's right, Ian, great work.

Hmm...

What is it, Ian?

There's no "I" in "Teamwork."

Exactly.

Let's talk. What did we learn?

Why is teamwork important?

What does working as a team help us remember?

How do we live out what we've just learned?

What are some teams you are a part of?

How do you feel when you work together with other people?

Let's pray together.

Let's thank God for the people he has put in our lives,

and ask him to show us ways we can work better with them.

FAVORITE BOOK COVERS - Duration: 5:14.

Hey guys today

I'm going to be talking about my favorite book covers as a collector of books as you can tell from the background

I been pretty much obsessed with book covers

I know they say don't judge a book by cover, but we know we all do today

I'm super excited to get into it so without further ado let's get on into the video

so the first category of book covers

I love are the very simple sleek clean of book covers and for this one. I chose

the Red Queen by Victoria aveyard

I love books like this also another good example is the Young elites by Anne Marie, Lu

Because not only does the cover kind of like glow and shine on the light

Which is really gorgeous and all of the letters are kind of touchy-feely they stick up?

But it's also so clean and it looks fantastic on a shelf. It's very simple without being plain it just it's so well done

Less is more with book covers like this my next tribute book covers are the real liars series

I love all the colors if you can see this bookshelf right here most of those are pretty little liars books

look fantastic up next to each other and

All the colors are just so pretty and I love the actual covers, too

Not only do I love the contrasting colors and the neons

As well as I just think it's hilarious that they have four wheels on the cover

it totally matches the pretty little liars books in TV show and

I love that the Barbie dolls on the cover and match the characters

and they actually do match the character descriptions from the book and so I think that's really cool and all of them match, so

this is from one box set and this is from another and though the covers are kind of different with the hat base and the

Irby doll they still look right next to each other and they still clearly match

And they're still clearly from the same series. Which is really important, and I think publishers should take that

And my third favorite is the kiss of Deception by Mary E pearson

I love how it catches the light and it has touchy-feely letters

But I also just love the colors you don't find many kind of olive cream books these days

And I think that really stands on the shelf and it looks really nice, and I like that the girls on the cover

But you don't see her face, so you can still imagine?

Kind of what the girl would look like from the character description in the book

Without it being ruined from the front cover

I don't know why this book stands out to me so much, but like if you see this at a book festival

You want to read it?

It's so pretty like I don't know how to explain it the background is just pretty it's not overly detailed

But it's got a lot more detail than you usually find on a book cover. It's just really cute

So my next favorite book capper is

Shatter me right to hit amalfi. I mean honestly these book covers are in almost everyone's favorite but cover videos

They're so pretty they're so simple and clean and the eyes are beautiful and they really they're just gorgeous

They're totally totally gorgeous, so I always have them featured on my bookshelf

It's they're so pretty and then finally usually I don't like people on the covers of my books

I just it ruins my image of them and usually whoever does the cover

I don't know if they don't read the book or something because the girls on the cover never match their descriptions in the book

but my one exception are the

Collection and the siren books because they are so gorgeous all of the selection books. This is elin from

the kind of like continued like spinoff series

I guess I don't know if you call it spinoff series

but the extended series and she completely matches her character description and

America on the model on the Covers also Matches America's description in the books

So not only you do think match which is a really fantastic

But they're just gorgeous the dresses and they all just look great next to each other

They're all the same things so I definitely love them and the siren goes along with Karakasa theme

Beautiful girls and dresses I honestly think I might like the siren but cover more than any of the selection books because the colors are

So warm and so pretty in the summary, and it just makes me want to go to the beach

So for dress so that was it for the short favorite book covers video. I hope you guys enjoyed

I just love foot covers. I could talk about them all day

Maybe I'll have to have like a series of my favorite covers and analyzing why I like them so much

Comment down below which book covers you like most of the ones. I showed or just in general your favorite book covers

Honestly even one book covers are bad at the series Matches

I still think they look pretty on the shelf so I'm honestly not too picky with book covers anyway

Thank you guys so much for watching and I will see you guys next video. Bye

WHO Are You? - Daily Thoughts #70 - Duration: 1:58.

Who are you?

No, you're not a race or a religion.

Today, I'm going to help you define WHO you are!

Hey Fighters! What's up? I hope you guys are having an awesome day, and welcome to the Daily Thoughts Series,

where I come on and share my important and helpful daily thoughts with you, so you guys can use that knowledge in your daily lives.

What are you?

Now, before you answer that question, let me tell you what you aren't.

You aren't black. You aren't white. You aren't a religion. You aren't a football, baseball, or basketball team.

See, we have gotten so caught up in what we do, and what we are called, that we think that is us.

Therefore, we end up asking the wrong question,

"What are you?"

What we should be asking is, "Who are you?"

Because when I ask 'WHO are you,' I want to know about your personality and what you are like,

but when I ask 'WHAT are you,' I want to know about skin color, or religion.

And a lot of people make that mistake of thinking,

"They are black," or "They are Christian"

But that is WHAT you are, not WHO you are.

YOU are funny. YOU are creative.

You are defined by your traits and your personality, and those things come together to make up WHO you are.

So, the next time someone tries to call you a name, or tries to put a label on you,

remember, that is WHAT you are, not WHO you are!

And there's today's daily thoughts wrapped up into one short video!

As always, thank you guys so much for watching, don't forget to share and subscribe,

and most importantly, don't forget to Keep Fighting! See ya! :)
