Huion Kamvas GT-191 · Tablet Review · Better Than The iPad Pro?? - Duration: 6:44.

Alright guys, it's finally time to follow up on my unboxing of the Huion Kamvas GT-191.

As I mentioned in that video, this tablet was sent to me by the company to review, but

obviously, all opinions in this video are my own.

So if you want a detailed look at how this tablet is packaged, what you get with it,

and the initial set-up check out that video in the cards or linked in the description

below this video.

Since then, I've spent a bit of time getting to know this tablet to be able to bring you

a nice, well-rounded sum up as well as looking into a few of the questions and comments you

raised in the unboxing video.

So let's get to it!

First off for a bit of spec;

This is a wide-screen, full HD monitor display tablet, so one that plugs into your computer

to allow you to see and interact with your work area.

The screen is 19.5 inches, which gives you a great, vast area to work on, and has a minimal,

uncluttered, you might even say sleek, design.

The Amazon listing for this tablet claims a 3000:1 contrast ratio which should allow

for a huge colour spectrum and vivid and accurate colour.

I was happy right away with how the colours came out on this screen without any tweaking

of settings.

And the adjustable stand that comes with the GT-191 ranges from angles of 20-80 degrees

to give you a few different, comfortable drawing options.

In terms of pen pressure, the pen has over 8,000 levels of pressure sensitivity, so to

put that into perspective, the brand new Surface Pen for the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 has just

over 4000 levels of pressure sensitivity.

But bear in mind that that doesn't necessarily mean that one is better than another, other

things come into play like tilt and lag, which we'll talk about throughout the video.

So this tablet is compatible with Windows, with Mac, I've been using it with my Macbook

Pro with the latest version of Photoshop, and it's supposed to work well with all

other major programmes.

It is currently priced at just over £400 or $499 US which for a tablet of this size

and this spec puts it price-wise in an actually pretty affordable bracket.

Now a couple of the comments on my first video went somewhere along the lines of saying;

'why buy a cheap copycat tablet, just stick with the better and more reliable industry

leaders like Wacom', and if you have the budget for a 1,000$ plus tablet then by all means

do your research and see if that's something that would suit you, but if you are interested

in knowing what you can get with a lot less money elsewhere, that's what we're here

to talk about today.

I'm just dipping my toe into the world of digital art, having previously used a non-display

tablet (also a Huion, this one I bought myself about a year ago after a recommendation from

one of you guys) and more recently the iPad Pro with Apple Pencil, so I see this GT-191

as a great middle ground with it's own advantages and disadvantages in comparison.

From a beginners perspective, this is definitely an easy tablet to get used to.

Responsive, it definitely responds well to different pen pressures, and having the screen

to draw on makes it much like drawing on paper.

Speaking of which, it comes with this protective screen that doubles as a matte, paper-like

surface, but I personally prefer the more crisp and clear look of the screen without

it.

I initially had to do a bit of fiddling and tweaking with the pen, uninstalling and re-installing

of the driver, all of which took about fifteen minutes, but I eventually calibrated the pen

to work seamlessly and haven't experienced any weird jitter or glitches in pen tracking.

The lag is minimal, and as someone that's used to the essentially lag-less Apple Pencil

and iPad Pro, I honestly can't see much of a difference in that respect.

Not enough for it to bother me anyway.

Now speaking of Apple I do have the iPad Pro also.

I use the app ProCreate on there and have found it very responsive, glitch-free, it

does get quite warm but I've never had an Apple product that doesn't.

All in all it's a great digital drawing experience.

This is a great option for portability.

I personally justified my investment in this because my old iPad was broken and I regularly

use my tablet for work regarding my shop, social media and general organisation on the

go.

I have the smaller 9.7 inch iPad Pro, which I got refurbished for £439 and then an additional

£99 for the Apple pencil.

So just to compare, that's £140 more for a tablet less than half the size that for

me is pretty similar in performance level.

I say pretty similar because, despite Huions impressive levels of pen sensitivity, I do

find the iPad easier to achieve smooth and controlled gradations.

Also with the iPad you can get the use of pen tilt into play- but that honestly isn't

a feature I've gotten much use out of.

The Apple Pencil has 12 hours of battery life and charges quickly but rather awkwardly like

this, while the Huion boasts 350 hours of battery life.

Is that even possible?

I've become accustomed to the touch aspect of the iPad, that ease and simplicity of use

that it brings but I do love hooking the Huion up to my computer, having two monitors, so

much more space and just opening up all the possibilities that are available to me on

my computer that might not be possible on an iPad.

If you're trying to decide between the two, it really comes down to what you plan on using

it for.

I think the iPad is a great portable option but for prolonged working hours in my studio,

I'd much rather work on the Huion and I don't see enough of a difference in quality

and usability between them to convince me otherwise.

And that sums it all up really.

Is it the most polished, high-tech, cutting-edge tablet out there?

No.

Does it do what most people would need from a tablet and- more importantly- do it well?

Absolutely.

The final question I was asked on my previous video was whether or not I'd be switching

completely to digital art, or what I'd be using the tablet for.

First off, I don't think I could ever give up on traditional media, I will still definitely

be producing more traditional art than digital.

I just find the flexibility of digital art so enticing, I had to give it a try here and

there.

In the past, I've used my tablets to test colour schemes for pieces, lay down quick

thumbnails, things that are easy to tweak and move around before I commit to a final

design on paper.

I also used this particular tablet a lot when it came to editing and adjusting the artwork

in my zine before printing, because it allowed me to get right into little details and work

on the scans as I would with drawings on paper.

I'm still very much getting the hang of creating refined pieces of work in digital

format but I'd love to get to know this medium more and produce some finished pieces

of work with it.

New Release Tuesday: November 14, 2017 - Duration: 8:25.

Hi everyone. I'm rincey and i am one of the contributing editors over at book

riot and i am back with another new release tuesday video. Today i'm talking

about books that come out on tuesday, november 14. So the first book i want to

highlight is artemis by Andy Weir. Andy Weir is known for writing the fantastic

book the Martian that was eventually made into a movie starring Matt Damon.

This is his second novel. In this book you are following this young woman named

jazz. She lives on Artemis which is a city or territory on the moon. As you

would expect, living on the moon is mainly for people who are extremely rich

but jazz is definitely not. And so she lives on Artemis but she spends most of

her time basically like stealing and grifting to get by. And then suddenly she

gets an offer for what basically sounds like a giant heist. And it's an offer

that she basically can't refuse. So yeah, like I said, Andy Weir is best well known

for writing the Martian. If you like that book, you might like this one as well.

I've heard it has a similar sort of like humorous tone to it. And if you're

someone who likes audiobooks, Rosario Dawson is actually narrating the

audiobook for this one. So it might be worth as an audiobook as opposed to the

physical or ebook. But yeah, I know a lot of people have enjoyed this one and it

might be one that you might enjoy as well. And again that's Artemis by Andy Weir.

Next I have beasts of extraordinary circumstance by Ruth Emmie Lang. In this

book you are following this character named Waylon Grey who was orphaned,

raised by wolves, and has a pet pig named Merlin. So he's always known that he was

not like anyone else. But then one day he is able to single-handedly stop a

tornado from entering and destroying this one a town in Oklahoma. So he starts

to realize that he is definitely way different from everyone else in town.

The tornado was just the first of many strange acts that seemed to follow

Wayland as he travels from town to town but he doesn't like to take credit for

any of the things that he's doing. And as amazing as these powers may appear they

seem to present themselves at really inopportune time and places. Waylen's unique

abilities are a curiosity at best and a danger to himself and the people around

him at worst. But then Waylon saves this young

girl named Mary when she was 11 years old and she decides that she's willing

to take the risk in order to be with Waylon. So the story is apparently told

from different perspectives. It follows this interesting character around. I've

heard really, really good things about this one I know that it's been on a lot

of people's to read lists for this fall. And again that's beasts of

extraordinary circumstance by Ruth Emmie Lang. Next up I have a nonfiction book

called bunk by Kevin Young. And I'm going to read the subtitle really quickly. It''s

the rise of hoaxes, humbug, plagiarists, phonies, post-facts and fake news. So this

feels like an extremely timely non-fiction book. So in this book Kevin

Young explores a bunch of different hoaxes and like con artists throughout

history, from PT Barnum to Edgar Allen Poe to more modern examples. And bunk

sort of examines hoaxes as like this sort of uniquely American phenomenon

and kind of looks at what it takes to be able to pull the wool over people's eyes

and what makes certain people more gullible to hoaxes and these sort of

fake con artist type people. But Kevin Young also looks at all of these

different stories, especially modern stories, and looks at what it's like to

live in this sort of like "post fact" era and what being able to tell whatever

stories you want to tell without any real consequences has done to the way

that we deal with like stories and truth and art and whatnot. So again that's bunk

by Kevin Young. Next up I have future home of the living god by Louise Erdrich,

who is an extremely well known writer. She wrote LaRose which came out last

year as well as the round house which I believe was nominated for a

National Book Award. I don't remember if it won or not. In this story you are

following this young woman who is fighting for her own life as well

as the life of her unborn child after this sort of cataclysmic event takes place.

It seems like evolution is going backwards and women who are giving birth

are giving birth to infants who seem to be of a more like primitive form of

human beings. And so everyone in the United States is obviously extremely

like disturbed by all of this that is happening. But you are following this one

character named cedar who is similarly confused and

disturbed by all of it, but she's also four months pregnant. There are rumors

spreading around her of like martial law, of congress sort of rounding up all the

pregnant women and putting them into like some sort of compound. There's like a

registry created, there are rewards for bringing in pregnant women. And so cedar

is sort of faced with this very difficult situation where she's trying

to obviously fight for her own life and take care of herself

while seeing what is happening in the world around her and trying to protect

herself and her unborn child. This is being called a chilling dystopian book

that looks at a variety of topics including female agency,

self-determination, biology, and natural rights that all sort of speak into the

times that we are currently living in. And again that is the future home of

living god by Louise Erdrich. Next is the city of brass by S.A. Chakraborty. This is

a fantasy book that seems to be set in Middle Eastern world. You're following

this character named Nahri is a con woman but she has like never believed in

magic or anything along those lines. But she knows sort of like the trades in

order to get by and con people, things like palm readings, card readings,

mysterious gifts for healings, tricks that she uses in order to swindle people

during the Ottoman Empire. But then one day she suddenly summons Dhara who is

this darkly mysterious Djinn and she's forced to reconsider her beliefs. This is

a debut novel and it's being described as for fans of The Golem and the Jinni,

the grace of kings series, and uprooted, which I know was a very popular fantasy

book. If you're looking for a fantasy series to get into, especially one that's

not set in a western world, then this one sounds like a perfect one to pick up.

And again that's the city of brass. Next up I have a collection of essays and that's

they can't kill us until they kill us. These are actually essays written by

Hanif Abdurraqib. Hopefully i said that correctly. I apologize if I didn't.

And these are ones that have been published in places like the New York Times, MTV,

and pitchfork, as well as a couple of original unpublished essays. He talks

about a variety of topics including attending a Bruce Springsteen concert

the day after he visits Michael Brown's grave or discussing the way that people

love Carly Rae Jepson. He talks about his own experiences

with nightclubs after the nightclub attack in Paris and the way that the

next generation of Muslims will be treated and the opportunities that they

might not get. This is an essay collection again that I've been hearing

a lot of people talk about and it's definitely going to have a very unique

point of view. And again that's called they can't kill

us until they kill us. And the final book I'm going to highlight here today is the

wild book. This is a middle grade novel by Juan Vallero and it's translated by

Lawrence Chimel. Thirteen-year-old Juan's summer is off to a terrible start. First

his parents separate, then he sent off to his uncle Tito's house. And who wants to

live with a strange recluse with zigzag eyebrows who drinks 15 cups of smoky tea

a day and lives in the middle of a huge mysterious library? As Juan adjusts to this

new life that he's settling himself into for the summer, he realizes something odd.

The books are moving by themselves. He rushes to tell his uncle Tito who lets

his little nephew in on a secret: Juan is a principes reader which means

that the books respond to him and he's the only one who can find the elusive,

never found before, never before read book the wild book. But will Juan be able

to get to the book before the wicked story-stealing a pirate book does first?

So again, this is a middle-grade story. It's being described

as an unforgettable adventure story about books, libraries and the power of

reading. And again that's called the wild book. So yeah, those are all of the books

well they did what they always do and guess what an employee for curing who

Keurig has since apologized to all of his employees today for taking sides in

an email that was obtained by The Washington Post it reads in part this

the fact is our consumer demographics match well with live news programming

which is why we advertise on nearly all cable news channels ranging from MSNBC

to Fox News to C and then all of which will continue however given the dynamic

nature of news we always need to evaluate that programming environment on

a real-time basis and it continues the decision to publicly communicate our

programming decision via our Twitter account was highly unusual this gave the

appearance of taking sides in an emotionally charged debate that

escalated on Twitter and beyond over the weekend which was not our intent I want

you to know the decision to communicate our short-term media actions on Twitter

was done outside a company protocols clearly this is an unacceptable

situation that requires an overhaul of our issues response and external

communications policies and the introduction of safeguards to ensure

this never happens again our company and brand and reputations

are too valuable to put at risk in this matter I'm gonna say tonight I believe

the CEO I believe is sincerity here and guess what conservatives drink coffee

liberals drink coffee libertarians drink coffee socialists

drink all is drink coffee everyone drinks coffee and he advertises on all

news networks this should be non-political as of now today before

this ever happened this weekend I have five Keurig machines five of them I have

never supported a boycott in my life because I know what they're about

Thursday I had mentioned Thursday Media Matters latched on to one thing I said

about the judge Roy Moore allegations in almost three hours of talking about the

allegations and at one point one split second there was slight ambiguity that I

immediately cleared up predictably Media Matters ignored the other two plus hours

of programming sprung into action proceeded to purposely twist to store my

comments then spread lies all over social media about what I said now

before it play for you what I said it's important to understand who we're

dealing with here who is medium matters well a guy by the name of Angelo Karras

Sony he is the president of Media Matters for America now his anti free

speech is Pro censorship group is trying to silence every conservative voice in

this country now there's a website dedicated look at it

right there - exposing who is this guy that wants to silence every conservative

voice who is Angelo karo Sony well there's a website you can look it up for

yourself it's called Angelo care Sony calm you can see it up on your screen it

is full of vile vicious comments that Eve it admits that he made if you look

encourage you to check it out for yourself let's put it this way if any

treated that way which is exactly what I did and unlike

Moore who's coming across as unconvincing and dismissive of very

Sean Hannity not doing a bad job pressing more on allegations now in the

media the left-wing media they don't like me says I did a good job okay it's

probably a grand slam it's probably winning the Stanley Cup but Media

We booked an apartment on one address, but were brought to a different one.

We called airbnb support.

Talked three times with them.

Every time a new agent took the phone and we needed to explain the incident all over again.

It was annoying.

Once we were on hold for approximately 10 minutes.

I suppose agents were telling each other our story.

At the end airbnb gave us the refund.

Instead of waiting for 5-15 work days, they made it instantly.

It was 11.30 PM and we couldn't find a place to sleep in our price category.

Everything was whether closed or had no parking space.

Airbnb agreed to cover up to 200 $ of our costs for the hotel. We'll see how it will work.

A federal appeals court has ruled that President Trump's order restricting travel to the U.S.

from several countries may take effect in part.

The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled on Monday that people who have no bona fide relationships

to people or institutions in the U.S. may be barred from visiting.

A three-judge panel said that the government could implement the restriction except on

"foreign nationals who have a credible claim of bona fide relationship with a person or

entity in the United States."

The judges did not explain their ruling but they cited the ruling from the Supreme Court

in July that first allowed visitors with bona fide relationships.

President Trump repeatedly praised Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday, virtually

ignoring discussion of Duterte's human rights record in carrying out thousands of extrajudicial

killings in his war against drug suspects.

The White House said human rights "briefly came up in the context of the Philippines'

fight against illegal drugs."

But Duterte spokesman disputed that account, saying, "There was no mention of human rights.

And there was no mention of extralegal killings.

There was only a rather lengthy discussion of the Philippine war on drugs, with President

Duterte doing most of the explaining."

South Korea's military said Monday a North Korean soldier was shot and wounded by fellow

soldiers while defecting to South Korea.

The severity of his injuries and reason for defecting weren't immediately clear.

The defection took place at Panmunjom, the truce village located inside the DMZ.

intervene in the case of three American college basketball players who were arrested on shoplifting

charges last week in Hangzhou.

The team has since returned home without the three players.

Russian state-controlled media outlet RT confirmed Monday that it has registered as a foreign

agent in the United States.

The U.S. Department of Justice had given RT until Monday to register its operations or

face legal action.

The U.S. demand for RT's registration may be mirrored by Moscow.

The Kremlin said last week that would force outlets such as the Voice of America and Radio

Free Europe, both of which receive funding from the United States to register in Russia.
