welcome to looking at the markets with David Modell yes I'm back again with mr.
Jeffrey Friedland world renowned expert in the marijuana and marijuana stock
industry as well as a published author one of his books and one of my favorites
is marijuana the world's most misunderstood plant and if you want to
get a copy of that which you should the Amazon link is in the description of
this video and by the way you also want to check out his website
www.jfn.co.jp/toho
it's always a pleasure to have you here and tap into your knowledge well what we
like to do here in case viewers don't know already is every week we've been
discussing two marijuana stocks and to marijuana companies usually one from
Canada or worldwide and then one from the United States and by the way we get
our suggestions from you the viewer and the listener here on YouTube you guys
have been picking our topics of discussion for us the companies and the
stocks that you want to see so go ahead and leave suggestions that you might
have in the description or I'm sorry in the comments section of this YouTube
video or you can email your ideas to me at David Modell at gmail.com alright so
today we're going to be discussing two companies first we'll go to the Canadian
side of things and we'll talk about tetra biopharma Canadian company and if
you want to know the ticker symbols if you want a trade or invest in it it's
tbp in Canada or T be p MF in the United States because it's tradable in both and
then later today we'll be talking about zdp why that's the ticker symbol for
zone properties inc all right so let's start
on the Canadian side of things with Tetro biopharma first of all how are
those shares trading well here in the US a u.s. dollar David it's in the 50 cent
range we always talk about the 52 week high and low there are about 50 cents as
well the market cap is 63 million dollars u.s. aggressive a little
aggressive but not too much especially as a Canadian stock so I wouldn't be
afraid of the market cap on this one I you know tend to like it I'm actually
fair enough all right now let's get to the business of Tetro
by a farmer what is their business well their business is very simple they're a
pharmaceutical drug development company they want to bring novel drugs and
treatments to the marketplace they have several subsidiaries that are doing that
David you know with both natural other natural compounds as well as
cannabinoids cannabinoids being you know compounds that are unique to the
cannabis plant so they're in the drug development business they're Canadian
based that's the bottom line on this okay
and now you've indicated to me that you were positive on the development
directions that tetra biopharma has but what are those directions okay they have
several products in the pipeline the first one these are you know they're
sort of weird names but PPP zero zero one which is a dried cannabis
prescription drug for the Canadian marketplace they are positioning it as
the first multiple marijuana product for advanced cancer pain now one thing that
you know was a little bit of a concern on all on these other ones I'll talk
about this one and the other ones is there's no mention as to patent
protection so what I can best tell David is on the ones we're going to talk about
this first one the PP zeros are a one as well as the others is that this is about
bringing these products of the Canadian marketplace
it's not about pharmaceutical products that we would have available eventually
that would go through FDA Food and Drug Administration
straighten trials here in the u.s. be available at Rite Aid law greens or you
know CBS so this is a smoke 0 PP 0 0 1 is a smokeable marijuana plant product
they've entered into a supply agreement with another company we've talked about
Africa you know we were positive you were positive I was positive about RIA
it's one of the major players as licensed producer in Canada under Health
Canada under the regulatory regime so but this is you know telling somebody to
smoke something for a medical benefit is a little weird you know for me
especially being in the US where we have capsules tinctures single dose sprays
etc etc their second product direction you know again they state that they are
looking at a u.s. direction is using a synthetic THC THC is a compound of the
cannabis plant that both does what makes us high as well as that provides medical
benefit during a banal was originally developed by the US government it's
synthetic it's not class 3 substance and capsule form under the Controlled
Substances Act and they're looking at a sustained release variation of it so
instead of a lasting let's say four four hours it might last 24 hours
that potentially could be a big deal they're also looking at both the
veterinary market and the human market on it interesting no mention of any
patents applied for on that that product I don't see as being something they
would attempt to market through licensed producers in Canada they'd look at the
US market but again no mention of their having any what that's called in the US
quote freedom to operate on meaning patents applied for or patents that have
been issued their third product David is PPP zero zero three which is for ocular
pain and inflammation eye pain inflammation its cannabinoid based
eyedrops they see that that the market potential in the US is a three billion
dollar market for both post-operative inflammation and allergic
conjunctivitis I had conjunctivitis once when I landed
on Easter Sunday in Milan Italy so I know about conjunctivitis again that's
an interesting thing it probably has a high probability of working but no
mention of any patents applied for or granted their last product indication
David is PPP zero zero four which is a topical cream THC based a pure THC the
issue with any kind of cream is getting it through the skin layer dermal layer a
THC cream could be interesting most people I see that are experimenting or
developed lotions or creams there are some that are just CBD there are some
that are just THC it seems that there's the best successes with the combination
David CBD and THC because you get an anti-inflammatory effect as well as pain
again no mention whatsoever of any patents applied for or patients granted
okay so Jeff I want to talk about a recent news announcement I heard about
from tetra biopharma this has generated considerable interest can you tell us
about that right it's about an inhaler product for drug delivery it's our ex
princeps PRI M C EPS so it's an inhaler with three comprised of three strains
they're pips being that these three stings are beneficial for medical use
it's based upon that PPP 0:01 drug we talked about okay crash Oh
earthquakes oh my goodness this is not a good weekend we're glad to get back to
Denver oh yeah we'll make it a good weekend no problem I'm just gonna keep
it rolling and we'll make it let's see your your way down there so if
you could uh let's see adjust the angle and there you go
the professor fell on the floor loves he just connected from the microphone off
oh my goodness okay all right take three here we go hmm five seconds all right
Jeff now what I wanted to talk about was a recent news announcement by tetra
biopharma which has generated considerable interest so can you tell us
about that right it's a drug trademark named rx princeps PRI NCE PS it's like
an inhaler that all of us are familiar with for asthma etc it's going to be a
delivery mechanism for three strains of marijuana again this is about the
Canadian market they have a distribution deal with a Fria which as a company
publicly traded company that you and I've talked about that we were you know
somewhat bullish about I'm sorry they do have distribution on it they estimate
that the market the value of that could be a million and a half Canadian dollars
a year not a big number you know it it's for the P P P zero zero one product we
spoke about a couple minutes ago I think it's interesting but the future of
cannabinoid based medicine David is not about strains it's ultimately about
cannabinoids you know combinations of the unique chemical compounds in
cannabis plant of which there's a hundred and eleven plus presume you know
at the top of the list THC and CBD so I don't know not overly excited about it
but part of the pitch is that this would provide some consistency and quality
control so that patients if they have a certain effect from using this inhaler
this rx princeps you know let's say this month
get the same effect next month a million and a half revenue Canadian dollars
interesting not a big deal really as far as I'm concerned but it's an interesting
niche market it's not about a product that you and I would be able to buy at
Walgreens or for which the company's proceeding with FDA trials in the United
States is best I can tell all right fair enough so Jeff what's your bottom line
on Tetro biopharma buy sell hold what do you think well I'd say mildly bullish
you know if our viewers David are putting together a portfolio of
companies in the farm cannabinoid pharma space I don't think it's bad to pick up
a few shares I'm not overly excited about the fact that I don't know
anything about their intellectual property whether they have any
protection the fact that they're really about the Canadian market doesn't give
them access to the US market an issue they're tying with Africa is a big deal
because that does give them distribution at least on the rx princeps side so it's
an intriguing stock it's interesting as part of its an overall portfolio I'd say
it's a you know put a few bucks into it for you know this kind of company is not
the kind of company that you're gonna expect to double or triple and a year or
three months it's a long term hold in my opinion but I think this is one we
should revisit David in three to six months and see what's happening see if
they can provide some more information on their intellectual property or
patents or if they filed any I don't know what they filed any and see what
actually happens with this rx princeps in the market sounds like a plan alright
Jeff let's move on to the United States side of things with zdp wise owned
properties Inc first of all let's start with the basics what is the business of
zoned properties okay zone properties David is about leasing
facilities real estate to marijuana businesses and it appears that this is
really about a marijuana Business Park in Arizona okay
and I know that you yourself have actually been involved in leasing
properties to marijuana grow marijuana growers right and now this may not have
been the most positive experience for you is that true yeah it wasn't positive
before I get into that let me just talk about the stock a little bit David um
its recent prices 80 cents trades us obviously the 52-week range was in the
range of low of about 50 high of about $3 so it's not at a 52-week high market
cap is 14 million obviously that's a pretty small market cap and I think in
this case it's probably pretty appropriate yeah I back in starting in
2014 first quarter we bought some property to lease to the cannabis
industry the reason that we felt that was attractive was and probably the same
reason that we see this company going after its own properties is because of
the lack of access to the US banking system you know you can't lease a
regular off of you know warehouse or something that has a commercial loan
from Wells Fargo because there's always a clause and loan agreements that the
property can't be used for an illegal activity and cannabis growing or
processing or retail sales is illegal federally so that's a niche market the
bottom line of it really is is that you can get a higher yield because you've
either got to have properties that you own for all-cash or ones that you have
an individual or a private loan and on or private equity loan on that doesn't
care about the fact that it's illegal federally we had a bad experience
because one of the issues has to do with the lack of access to the banking system
by marijuana growers they had difficulty paying us you know if you ask someone to
pay you at $8,000 a month payment and you say why are a sent us a check well
we don't have a bank account and so you know it became problematic it became a
convenient excuse not to get paid we exited that business I had a colleague
Otto Sam francisco backed by a lot of private
equity money he got into leasing property also to growers ex tractors he
lost his shirt as well so not a great business in my opinion yeah well I'm
sorry to hear that it sounds like a tough business to be in
and here's another concern before we went on the air you told me that you
actually had some trouble accent accessing zone 2 properties website is
that true yeah you know David when I these companies that you and I talk
about you know one of the things I do is I always go to the website to see how
they position themselves you know what are they saying about themselves what do
they think their market niche or business model is and I use a Chrome
browser which I think is the most popular browser in the United States
even for people that have you know Apple machines and even people that have pcs
and I got a warning from Google do not go there you know there's a risk
security risk etc etc so I it wouldn't allow me to access the website so one
would think that zone properties know that they have a problem people you know
that there's a security warning about accessing their website not good yeah
you think they would fix that one and here's another possible red flag for
investors in zone properties this is regarding related party transactions
what are their related party transactions and what are your concerns
about that right related party transactions are sort of insider
dealings and what that means David is the officers directors or principle
shareholders are doing business with an entity controlled by themselves or with
themselves and so in this case it's fully disclosed but apparent you know
without drilling down a lot it appears that this marijuana park is principally
loaned providing a facility to an affiliate of the officers directors or
principal shareholders my guess is they have a license to grow or process in
Arizona they're leasing to so the concern about that is isn't a
fair deal for the public company investors you know it could be but it
also you know when I look up related party transactions the first thing that
comes to mind cuz been around for a while on this Wall Street side is is
this you know more positive for the insiders doing business with themselves
or you know or they or the public investors getting screwed basically
you know subsidizing it so they can make the money outside the business we have
no idea but the numbers in the June 30 financials is filed with the SEC and a
Form 10-q this is for the period ending June 30th the six-month ended their non
related revenues non-related so these are legitimate third-party revenues
David were around $54,000 they're related party revenues were nine hundred
and ninety thousand dollars so essentially all their revenues are from
related party activities big warnings big red flag David hmm okay I'm sensing
a number of concerns about zoned properties Inc so let's get to the
bottom line cuz that's what the viewers and listeners want to hear about are you
bullish or bearish on zone properties inc
well despite the low market cap David there's nothing I like about this
company I don't like the market segment personal opinion been there done it you
know don't want to touch it I don't like the related party transactions so that's
my my take on it I think this is one we don't even revisit in three or six
months I'm not interested in it at all and most of the companies we talk about
even if we're not so positive bottom David we always say hey let's see if
what happens with this or what happens with that let's revisit it can't access
a website my opinion bad business model related party transactions major red
flag Wow all right some strong words and a lot of great information for mr.
