Charlotte: If we were in a musical and the main character suddenly was gonna sing a solo at the climax of the entire plot of the story
Charlotte: this would be it and that string, that would be the whole introduction you have that tremolo sound and then they would come in
Umu: Last one for the seventh and final BTS solo in the wings album you'll be reacting
Umu: To Jin's song "Awake" many people participated in writing the song, Jin
Umu: Rapmonster, J-Hope, a person named Jin Young *** get a hitman bang pd and slow rabbit so jin actually is
Umu: most known for his visuals in this group and he debuted with no prior dance or
Umu: Singing training so basically he's been the underrated singer of this group he doesn't have many lines so
umm: the meaning of this song was never fully explained but fans believe that
Umu: This song is Jin's comfort to himself even if he himself can not fly he's content
Umu: To see his members fly James: okay Hugo: jin's my favorite
Hugo: although Rapmonster's pretty dope
Kevin: whooo feels
Yunyi: Hollywood--- Rachmaninoff Kevin: hmm ahh there we go yeah--- a little bit
Lindsey: ooh he's really cute
Fiona: tremolo
Fiona: danger
Charlotte: If we were in a musical and the main character suddenly was gonna sing a solo at the climax of the entire plot of the story
Charlotte: this would be it and that string would be the whole introduction they have that tremolo sound and then they would come in
Fine: chord-- so hollow Lindsey: I like how it's like the harmonic rhythm is very slow
Lindsey: ohh this is like Fiona: His voice sounds so beautiful there
Hugo: i rather like his voice
Emiel: I mean it sounds good like the mixing sounds good
Henry: yes, the mixing is good this is definitely like the least compressed like "eeee" we've heard so, it's very nice
Lindsey: I want to like slow dance to this song Fiona: okay
Linsey: ooh did you hear that was like a [demonstrates]
Fiona: sigh whistle Lindsey: it was like on the streets, it's like a violin
Kevin: I like the percussion really, very filtered stuff
Fiona: I like the call and answer of the voice and the strings, strings and whatever Lindsey: agreed
Fiona: i love this chorus
Fiona: Again it sounds so positive opening out and then like halfway through the phrase and it's like nope
Fiona: like happy
Fiona: just kidding it's minor Lindsey: I was gonna say it's like minor but it doesn't sound-- feel like minor
Emiel: the harmonic rhythm and like also the melodic rhythm makes like a lot of sense just easy for
Emiel: Listeners to go along with it Henry: nice harmony yeah
Lindsey: I mean there's also just a lot of mixture like at points it doesn't really sound like it's minor
Fiona: i think they avoid scale degrees that make it minor like they don't have it so
Lindsey: There's just yeah they just avoid the scale degrees
Yunyi: I think this is the quietest we've ever been
Yunyi: cause you can't just talk over this kind of music
Jarod: wow what a guy
Katie: I thought that was a really good ending that was really fitting it was like it felt like a closing song Henry: it was so straight forward
Henry: It was so honest like the soundscape was beautiful it wasn't over complicated it wasn't over produced
Henry: whatever man I liked it
Henry: That's great Umu: do you think the melody and harmony
Umu: complemented the message? Henry: i got the vibe of like you know man
Henry: it doesn't matter what i can do because i love you and i'm proud of you you know like
Henry: there are times when like i have been around
Henry: professionals who just like were miles ahead of where i was and i wanted to be like them and they're off doing these incredible things
Henry: and a lot of people get like jealous of that i do my hardest to just like you know what
Henry: You're doing what i want to do and i'm proud of you for doing it like that's great you know
Henry: So i definitely vibe with that, i don't know if i necessarily vibe with the undertone of like well you're the worst one so that
Henry: means you got to kind of play it safe
Henry: That i'm like that i didn't get it all i thought that was great i thought that was like the most straightforward the most positive
Henry: I thought that was the most unassumingly good
Henry: well-written pop song
Henry: I don't know I dug it, I thought it was, it was one of the longer ones we listened to and i thought
Henry: it was great i wasn't like alright one too many choruses i thought it was crafted really well yeah
Lindsey: I don't know I though he was saying like he can't fly but he's still doing his best like look at even so i want
Lindsey: To reach out my hand i want to try to run just a little more so it's like
Lindsey: He says that he can't like do it but he's still willing to try his best and i think that's like what really
Lindsey: matters the most and that's why he's is very successful
Lindsey: Even having come in without the same experiences the rest of the group i know fiona commented on this too but like the call-and-response
Lindsey: that was going on a little bit in the backgrounds and the
Lindsey: Voices i think kind of
Lindsey: worked really well especially
Fiona: with the voices Lindsey: yeah and he was also like talking about the other members of the group
Lindsey: so it was kind of like they were kind of moving up which was like they were flying you know with their wings
umu: right Fiona: i like the range of his voice and the quality of these voices
Fiona: pleasant to my ears thank you very much
Fiona: The strings at the beginning i was like ehh that's a pity but
Fiona: The effect is there you know-- it cheapens it a little bit but it's fine if you don't Umu: oh because they're fake yeah don't
Fiona: notice it Lindsey: i don't think it was that bad
Lindsey: I think that like of the synths sounds, of all the fake instruments that we've heard today that was probably the least
Lindsey: offensive
Hugo: I liked the orchestration i like that it was strings that they stuck with it James: i like the message
Hugo: i like the message too James: you keep trying
Hugo: I love the drumset and it was just it was so moving i think that was most moving out of all of them for me
James: yeah, how's so? Hugo: it was just like you know the he's like recognizing his struggles and he's recognizing this challenges that he faces and
Hugo: It's not that he blames that on anyone he's just like you know i'm surrounded by these people who are awesome and they're doing so great
Hugo: And i'm gonna keep working hard so i can touch this guy even though sometimes it never feels like i can yeah
Hugo: Which i think is something we all can relate to some
Hugo: certain extent Jarod: the strings we're kind of like you know the lines were kind of flying themselves
Jarod: you know kind of dancing around his words which is cool because for added effect
Katie: there wasn't anything really like fast and like [sings it]
Katie: which would remind me of like flying or something cause he kept saying i can't fly maybe i can't fly
Jarod: So soon and be like yeah there's gonna be a lot of like interplay between
Jarod: what he was saying and what was going on in the backgrounds for us oftentimes it's like here's the beat they sing over it you know sometimes
Jarod: you get like
Jarod: moments of that when it goes back but for this one i felt like
Jarod: the backgrounds and the melody kind of wove and like worked together
Kevin: it's cool Yunyi: I thought this was like one of the more musically simple?
Yunyi: i mean it's simplistic but not like just because like everything before it that has like gone through
Yunyi: So much crap-- it clears your palate anyway Kevin: but at the same time it's you know-- it's less r&b
Kevin: and more pop which already
Kevin: implies that the chords you know the r&b chords are gonna be a little fatter a little richer, this one just more simple
UMu: Alright so summing up your overall experience of all these seven songs which one
Umu: Was your favorite and why and what do you think of all of them Charlotte: i like the mom cause
Charlotte: It's cute, that was just nice to listen to you honestly i liked "Lie" and also
Charlotte: The begin Peyton: it's probably either begin or sick Henry: i actually think this one
Emiel: okay I'll go with the MAMA one Henry: this one's my favorite Umu: okay reasons?
Henry: for what i already said Emiel: the groove in that one was cool and i also like this one awake
Katie: Why
Jarod: I think this one, this one's my favorite
Katie: this one and lie
Katie: for different reasons
Jarod: Cause this one like it's total lot like the supporting guy like you know i got you guys i might not be able to
Jarod: do this but like you can and
Jarod: i'll stretch my hand and i will run and i will do what i can and you know that's all you ever can do
Katie: I also really like the piano one
Umu: first love Jarod: yes first love that like relates to us on a spiritual level
Fiona: my favorite was jungkook begin
Fiona: 100% my favorite Lindsey: i like well i liked a lot of them for different reasons what was the one where
Fiona: pick one you politician Lindsey: I'm picking two
Umu: Jimin's lie Lindsey: yeah it was just really catchy i mean i'm like still thinking of it Fiona: which one was that Umu: the compound meter one
Fiona: Oh shit
Lindsey: Yeah, but then so that's like my favorite Fiona: I have to-- uh -- lie
Lindsey: Musically and then i think rap mon reflection was my favorite one like
Lindsey: Lyrically Fiona: i don't know i probably say Lie i'm not gonna lie
James: Mama mama, all the way Hugo: mama mia
James: NOO
Hugo: Here we go again
James: yeah, i love the music and i love message
Hugo: I liked
Hugo: this last one I think that was my favorite
Umu: Do you have anything, to sum up thoughts on also solo songs
Yunyi: you know it's like really something cause like when you see
Yunyi: BTS
Yunyi: or at least when i see BTS you like you imagine that these are like just like faces of like
Yunyi: total success they're attractive, they can do everything they can dance they can sing they Kevin: that's true
Yunyi: Like have so many fans and there
Yunyi: yeah, they've got like you know the money's coming in
Yunyi: they're touring and they can still sing about
Yunyi: experiences like this where like you know like Jins like i can never fly
Yunyi: that type of deal where it's like
Yunyi: you know i feel like these songs really touch on like the superficial
Yunyi: aspects like Kevin: mainstream pop
Yunyi: like not just mainstream pop but like achievement, achievement within society you know how like
Yunyi: material achievement or like
Yunyi: Superficial achievement will never grant you the emotional satisfaction that you wish to seek within your soul
Jarod: every message is really powerful you know they're like rooted in like some sort of personal struggle and like they can kind of convey that
Jarod: because often times when we see BTS it's like this high energy and we always assume it's like oh
Jarod: wow their lives must be great, everything must be great all the time
Jarod: But you know in this album it's kind of very real oh yeah that's going on it was very powerful very touching
Jarod: so it's definitely more of a
Jarod: not necessarily of a banger as their previous stuff is but the same timing is just as important
Katie: overall i'm
Katie: For these seven songs i thought um my favorite thing about them
Katie: was definitely just how much symbolism was in them
Katie: and between like text painting and just other
Katie: ways that they portrayed in the music what they were doing
Katie: In the words and vice-versa so that was really fun it was engaging really
Katie: this was one of my more favorite
Katie: things we've reacted it to in a whole just because i
Katie: Just, kept finding like little easter eggs and it was really fun to listen to
