Sori's YouTube Channel
Hi, everyone~
"Sori Not Sorry!" Sori here.
Guys, I've started getting
piano lessons,
recently. Yaay!
I'm currently taking voice lessons,
and bass lessons as well,
and I am adding piano lessons on top of that.
I have taken piano lessons before, when I was little,
like so many Koreans who ususally have before...
a majority of people has, of course there are some who haven't
Even in school, there are
multiple opportunities to come across pianos.
Even though I learned a little bit of piano-playing, I hadn't taken lessons for a long time.
I cannot recall it well, since it's been a long time,
but I "know" how to play piano.
But how should I put this...
I do not particularly
have a complete fluency
in playing, so I...
from here on...
would like to show you guys of me playing piano
here and there through my channel.
So, I decided to start taking lessons again.
I thought it'd be cool to play a couple pieces on piano
the next time I stand on stage,
which is another reason for me to start playing again.
So, I'm here to take today's lesson, One particular thing is
that this entire lesson will take place in English.
This has not been done in Korea before...
But the instructor that I am about to go see...
...she started it for the first time. So, while I'm learning how to play piano,
I could learn English
The instructor would be speaking in English throughout the lesson,
but if I were to not comprehend certain things,
I would ask her to explain things in Korean,
and I would be able to learn some english vocabs and phrases.
This way, I am going to learn both piano and English.
Although I cannot communicate verbally,
with a piece of music or playing music,
I can convey my emotion to the others.
It is such a powerful thing,
I think.
One of these days, by playing piano,
I would like to connect
with you guys out there emotionally
despite the language barrier we would share.
My promise to you all.
So, I'll give my best. I hope you guys watch and cheer me on!
"Sori Not Sorry" Piano Lesson Edition! Here I go!
fighting fighting fighting.
Sori arrived at the studio!
Shall we take piano lesson in ENGLISH together!?
Join us fellow YouTubers!!
This melody wants me to go home~~ T_T
A little less, volume-wise.
Keep your wrist relaxed~
There's a saying that the weight of your arm is so heavy that it might just break the strings on the piano, by doing so.
Learning the techniques of relaxing arms while playing!
diligently going through the lesson!
Dum tss Dum tss
How long are you gonna make me rocking my shoulders
Like you've strings attached, like a puppet.
Practice is the only way! Infinite repeat!
The song's supposed to sound very lonesome.
I want to play like that too...
Make sure to do a bit of sight reading up to this part once you go home.
It does feel a bit lonely.
Yeah, exactly.
It's supposed to paint a picture of desolate winter of Russia.
that makes you think of bare and white fields.
You should picture that as you play.
Imagine you're standing on a cold empty plain.
I think I'd like to a little.
Yeah, so just like that,
my piano lesson has come to an end.
So, as I look at the sheet music in English,
I learn how to play piano,
my instructor teaches and explains things in English,
and I try to comprehend the information given in English, along with some musical theory and techniques here and there.
It was pretty fun,
and I once again realized
the power of music that is capable of destroying the language barrier,
Once she played the music, I couldn't completely understand what she meant in English,
but as I listened to the piece,
I could still perceive whether the piece was bright or dark,
such understanding of emotion it tries to convey, I could empathize with that.
But to express the same emotion on my own is yet proven to be difficult for me.
I'm gonna give my best.
To my little friends who are watching:
Don't be like me, who has given up because she has gotten bored of practicing piano,
but keep on pushing yourself.
One day you'll find yourself technically efficient in playing.
So,
Don't give up, and fight the good fight.
and
to those who find themselves wanting to learn recently,
Hopefully you find some sort of motivation by looking at this video.
Let's get through this together.
Practice hard with me,
so we could one day,
share our both happy and sad emotions,
exchange our sentiments,
through music.
I am also going to
practice on the piano at my company's practice studio as well.
I am not so sure how much
I am going to improve in future,
but watch me, since this is my second time around
ever since grade school to learn how to play piano,
and since my love of music has grown so much bigger,
I won't give up,
I would like to show you guys of me playing piano and singing at the same time.
I would of course show you guys, but
this is also for myself, since I like it.
I can guarantee that will be a future content
on this channel.
Because "Sori Not Sorry"
a place of communication between me and you!
That wraps it up, so long! I'm gonna go have dinner. (Sori's first piano lesson, complete!)
Sori's Piano Lesson Day 2!
Before the lesson, I decided to get some pho.
Dear "Sori Not Sorry" viewers, I'm back!
Before going to the piano lesson, I'm gonna have myself a bowl of pho for dinner.
Ta-da!
I usually don't like cilantro, but I'm gonna challenge myself today.
Cilantro.
Here I go!
It tastes like if I had some tasty perfume.
I'm so full, I finished the whole bowl. Thanks for the meal!
Coming up next, the piano lesson, fighting!
Hey guys, ta-da!
I'm here to take the next piano lesson.
I've practiced the materials I learned from the previous lesson,
and now I have to demonstrate
in front of the instructor.
Should I give it a go on my own?
I didn't miss a note!
Hard work won't ever betray you, guys!
For the next one, I actually have to look at the sheet music.
Coming up next,
is the one I started learning since last week, You guys remember, right?
"Five Little Speckled Frogs"
the lyrics are a bit graphic, but the melody's supposed to be played upbeat.
It has to be bouncy, like, a, little, frog!
I started hitting all the wrong notes as you came in.
(She gave me an awesome Jawbreaker!) This is so fun.
(Energy replenished!)
Compared to last week, I think I will be able to play with more confidence this time,
since I've been practicing pretty hard.
I think i'm gonna learn a brand new piece too today.
you practiced in "reverse."
- You have improved a lot, really. - It's been fun practicing
I was complimented!!
You don't even sound like an elegant "machine" but you sound something like...
yes, a bit rough,
"accompaniment parts"
let's escape the machine, Sori! The practice went on...
I don't get this part...
How am I supposed play this?
That's quite a reach!
- You're such a great composer. - It has nothing to do with that.
I simply re-arranged the note sequence
There are so many.... "sprouts!" (Tremendous waves of "sprouts")
- From the top? - From the top.
L-let's go!
So as you practice,
if singing with the accompaniment proves to be a bit difficult for you...
just play the bass note and sing.
If you speak out the words with cadence, the song would come a bit easier.
That wraps up today's lesson. Yaay!
For the ones i learned last time, as long as I don't make mistakes, I should be on the clear,
and for the ones I learned more recently, such as
Russian...
"Russian Winter"
I will practice this
Until the next lesson.
With sadness. Something that I felt today is that,
I was able to perceive my instructor's subtlety in playing more,
I was able to understand more of her English.
Last week, I just couldn't relax my arms,
was sweating a lot, and couldn't understand most of what she was saying
I was able to feel the sentiment that resides inside the piano this time.
I was able to comprehend for the first time and why she says things like
play lightly, or with sad emotion. I now know a glimpse of what she means.
I am getting a bit of frisson right now.
This is the end of Sori's Piano lesson~
I'm gonna go practice mooore!
Bye~
