Hello everyone! welcome to the youtube channel of FLOEB!
today we meet again for a new review with the TSS handbrake mod of thrustmaster! a product that
I was able to discover in exclusivity in Lohéac next to rennes, I present it to you in details
Let's go
Here is the unboxing of the TSS handbrake mod of thrustmaster, it has a nice packaging
with the handbrake pictured on the front
on the sides, we will see the description of the product
in different languages as well as the contents of the box. on the back we will see the various devices
of thrustmaster, pedals, th 8A, steering wheels and others
on the top the picture of a set up
and on the side, thrustmaster facebook, thrustmaster youtube channel, twitter and snapchat
as well as the sparco knob
at the opening of the box we have
a usb cable
with a dean connector since the usb cable is removable so it will be detachable
then we have the screws with metal paw so this is for horizontal mode, for mode gt, I will present after
and we still have hardware with a flat key, an Allen key and a mini Allen key
we have the instruction for use of the TSS handbrake in different languages
so the TSS is molded in polystyrene, very well protected! there is no risk
a good thing for thrustmaster, even the base is under plastic film
so really good
Then there is the lever
with the sparco knob that is also well protected, I find it really good
it's true that receiving parcels
in beautiful packaging like that it's really good
there is no risk in transport really well protected!
now i install the lever of the TSS handbrake mod in rally mode to the vertical
and I make you a little demo of the mounting of the lever in horizontal mode
here I am going to mount the lever
in rally mode so vertically, for it to be simpler I will
remove the sparco knob
it will be much simpler, it will be lighter
So here I am going to bring me the little bag with the screws
there are 2 bolts provided
I will be able to adjust the height
on the lever, 21cm to
30 cm so it's 21 cm from the top of the hood to 30 cm maximum
after with the knob
it will be much higher
I want to adjust it to a minimum
just put a washer on each side
the system is very simple nothing really complicated
We even have small rubber washers
After we take
The flat key that is provided
with the tss and the allen key
we simply tighten
the assembly
is done in rally mode. for mounting the lever in gt mode I will recover
the template that is provided in the bag, I place
the h side of the - on the handbrake tss
quite simply
I take the lever
I will already install it on the highest part
we think to put a washer with a rubber washer on each side also
Quite simply
That's it, I mounted the first part of the lever
For the second step, I get the black aluminum washer 9 mm thick and I place it
between the two steel tabs
then I take the steel tab
I'm thinking of putting a steel washer and a rubber washer on each side
Here and there I finished editing part 2
for the third part, I take the big washer provided in the bag, I place
between the assembly tab and the lever
I think of putting a steel washer and a rubber on each side
editing is very simple nothing really complicated
here
And now I can adjust the angle
of my lever simply
and once I chose my angle
I take the flat key and the Allen key
And I tighten
The system is fine, we can really adjust
the angle of the lever as one wishes
and after that I just have to install
the knob
That's my shifter is in gt mode
Here is the TSS handbrake mod of thrustmaster in detail, it measures 20 cm long
7 cm wide and it has a height of 33 cm minimum to
43 cm maximum, it has a weight of 2 kgs
the base of the TSS is in steel, on the top an aluminum part of
1 mm thick, there is also aluminum foil
on the front of 1 mm thick. at the lever level we have two steel tabs of
2 mm thick, black, the lever arm is made of 9 mm thick aluminum
on the top, a sparco knob
designed as a 1: 1 scale replica of aluminum, with rubber bushings
around the knob, there are five rubber rings, the grip is correct
and on the underside, we see a aluminum red ring which serves as a counter nut, the knob is
adjustable in height, and we have about a setting of 4 cm. the knob measures 8.5 cm in height
and there is sparco inscription on the top of the knob. the knob is interchangeable, if we want to modify
the design on the tss.
then there are different markings in serigraphy
on the TSS of thrustmaster, we find the marking sparco on the front of each side
with the thrustmaster emblem
Sequential side markings and handbrake
and on the back we find a toggle switch, to switch from sequential mode to
handbrake and on the front a din connector, it will suffice
plug
and screw
here, and a usb cable with a length of 1 meter 80, we can easily connect to the pc
on the side of the shifter we also have three m6 threads, so three on each side
I think it's to possibly fix
the shifter by side
and on the bottom, 8 threads also to m6 to fix
his shifter on his rig. the tss is in sequential mode
I have a good feeling in the lever and I leaned a little on the inside of the
tss and I noticed that I could adjust
slightly hardness in the lever so I will show you how I proceeded. to switch from sequential mode to handbrake
take the mini allen key and unscrew the four screws on each side of the tss
just a little bit of a key
it's fast
there are two
seconds
so we're going to slide the spigots on the handbrake
symbol
we
tighten
Then I switch the switch mode sequential to handbrake simply
And I have
a good feeling in the hand
you see when I release there is still a good resistance.
the handbrake
is progressive and thrustmaster uses heart technology so a magnetic sensor
contactless hall effect for reliability and durability
I find it really good, a nice progression of thrustmaster, so I'm going now
disassemble the aluminum hood and show you the interior of the tss. here I have to remove
the hood of the TSS handbrake aluminum of 1 mm thick, it's really very flexible and I also
remove the aluminum front
that's 1 millimeter thick so it's very flexible
I will now be able to present you the mechanical part of the tss handbrake
here is the mechanical part of the tss handbrake mode
we can already notice the steel uprights of the base of 2 mm thick
one plate on the front and one on the back of aluminum 8 mm thick
then we have two screws
with 60 mm thread
two machined aluminum parts
the screws are fixed on the aluminum parts, with a counter nut here!
2 springs with flat turns, with a resistance of 4 kilos, with a nut
and a washer to hold the spring resting on the aluminum plate
smooth self-lubricating polymer bearings, so there is no need to maintain anything, it's really very good
Then we have cylindrical aluminum spacers
with the 4 screws, this is for the transition from sequential to handbrake mode
then on each side of the amount in the middle we have a washer 5 mm thick, which will serve two stops
for aluminum parts
on the lever we note in ball bearing on each side and we also notice on the top
two steel tabs of 2 mm thick with a spring that presses on it
it's just to give a little effect in the lever
to avoid having a too linear feeling
on the side there are screws with smooth polymer bearings
who will maintain the aluminum parts inside
and every time I'm going to operate the lever, they will slide in the grooves, here is positioned
the magnetic sensor
with the connection of the GND on the basis of the tss
I did some tests and I noticed that we could adjust the hardness for the sequential mode
we take the flat key and simply
to screw
the nuts on the threaded rod to compress
the spring, the more we will compress the spring and the more we will have a hard feeling in the lever
we will have a feeling
a little harder
on the other hand, because of the compression of the spring, when one then passes to the handbrake mode, it will be necessary to
this reverse operation, that is to say
Unscrew the nuts for
return the spring to its original state. if not
the handbrake will not go to the end of the stop.
there are two solutions for me, so we use the tss in shifter mode, in this case, we can adjust
hardness by compressing the springs simply
or if we decide to use the
shifter and sometimes switch to handbrake mode,
and you want a big effect in the lever, I would advise you to
change the springs and take springs with greater resistance.
now the original feeling is still good but I like to have
a very hard feeling in the lever.
so
what I do is that I compress
a spring on one side
and I leave the other original spring, you'll see the difference,
on the left side, we really feel
hard and on the other side you see the difference, it's much more flexible
after it's really
to everyone's taste but I know that I prefer to have a pretty hard lever
That's the difference,
I found this option now when I tell you, if you want to switch from sequential mode to handbrake regularly
I advise you more
change the springs.
it is therefore possible to adjust the stroke of the sequential and the handbrake with the spigots, for example for the lower gear
I can put less stroke and lengthen the stroke on the higher gear
this can be interesting for the rally,
on the other hand because of shortening the stroke, we lose a little feeling in the lever
that we had with the metal brackets, I find that a little pity.
it's the same for the handbrake, you can adjust the stroke
and then just configure the TSS handbrake mode in the thrustmaster software.
the price for the TSS handbrake Mod of thrustmaster is
$ 249.99
I install the tss on my rig and I give you my feeling in game
before doing a TSS handbrake mode test in game, I wanted to show you the calibration software that was
set up by thrustmaster on February 16, 2018
Just download it from the thrustmaster website, on the technical support.
here is the interface of the software
we start with the calibration of the sequential, we pass once the higher speed and once the speed lower,
the green bar is the lever
the blue bar of button 2, is the moment or will trigger the up shifting
I put more deflection
and I put
less stroke electronically on the lower gear, that's it, and I'm doing
"sequential test" the lower gear flashes yellow, so I pass
several times
the lower gear, that's it, when the box is green, it's ok!
and now, identical, for the up-shifting
Here is my
sequential is calibrated! then "handbrake calibration"
the software tells me to pass
the switch in position "handbrake", we notice on the bottom of the window dice when I pass
the switch sequential handbrake, it must change box! here! it's perfect!
and now I take my mini allen key
and I put my 4 spigots
on the handbrake position.
it is also possible to set the TSS, the handbrake stroke
But I put it in the maximum position
Here!
the software is very simple
and very well
for the calibration of the handbrake, it's like for the sequential, I pull
my maximum handbrake, the gray bar behind is the max position of
the lever! the green bar, the "rest" is my lever, the orange bar next to it is the start
I can adjust it, for example, if you want the "dead zone" at the start of the handbrake, click left on the mouse and I adjust,
the orange bar "end", this is the limit of the lever, so I can adjust
electronically also the stroke of the lever but I position myself to the maximum
and button 3
it's just for games that do not handle the handbrake
progressive! it will act as an on / off button, for example, WRC7 does not handle
the progressive handbrake! the button 3 is also adjustable relative to the travel of the lever.
then I click on 4! "handbrake test"
I pull the handbrake several times
the software tells me "OK" the handbrake is
calibrated! I'm in the pitlane of the Nürburgring Grand Prix Strecke with the BMW Z4
GT3! I'm testing
the sequential mode of TSS handbrake mod of thrustmaster, I give you my feeling in game, go!
For mounting the
TSS, it was complicated
I do not hide it, I spent about an hour and a half, for editing
I had specially bought m6 guide nuts to mount it on
My aluminum bars
Unfortunately, because the holes were threaded on the basis of the tss, I could not tighten it properly
I have it fixed on brackets
I galley, the negative point of this
Peripheral
for mounting, you also need to remove the top cover
for aluminum frames it's complicated
at the sequential level, I put the original settings on the springs
And personally, I find that it lacks hardness
it's a device that you can
change easily by changing the springs, for example, install springs with greater strength
as I tell you, we can adjust the hardness by compressing the springs but if we switch to "handbrake" mode
We completely lose the original stroke
the software is very good, we can adjust the stroke electronically
of the handbrake
with the sparco knob, we have a good grip, with gloves, it's perfect
But by changing speed
With the small steel tabs inside, we have a good feeling in the lever
this avoids having a linear shift
mechanics on the other hand
Good materials, smooth self-lubricated polymer bearings and no maintenance
the magnetic sensor will ensure reliability
I advise you
If you have a TH8A, for example, it's perfect, you'll have the H-pattern, the handbrake and the shifter
a good handset
I finish the lap, and I test the handbrake
I'm on the rallycross circuit of lucas oil raceway with the Ford Fiesta
wrc! I test the mode "handbrake" TSS handbrake and I make a small conclusion, go!
let's test this handbrake
when we set the TSS in the software, after it is plug and play
it works well
very precise there
good feeling! with the knob, it was very well in hand! good grip!
the connectivity of the tss, is the same as the th8a, it is compatible with steering wheels of thrustmaster
also all steering wheels of the market
Since it comes with a usb cable, it can be connected directly to the pc
very well this handbrake
very precise! I like this handbrake
I finish the lap and I make a little conclusion
That's the test of TSS handbrake mode is now over, the positive points I give are:
the mechanical, the magnetic sensor will ensure the reliability of the product, plain bearings
manufactured in Germany made of self-lubricating polymer, no maintenance!
a sparco knob with a very good grip, well
the thrustmaster software is very simple and very effective, I find it really well
and the negatives points are: the bindings
on aluminum rig, it's complicated! and the sequential, the feeling lacks hardness!
here! if you are interested, I put the link of the TSS handbrake mod in the description of the video
I take this opportunity to thank thrustmaster for the confidence they gave me to make this review!
