Why Are Words So Hard For Introverts?
Here's The Science
Introverts are familiar with losing words when they talk about topic that they are extremely
aware of.
It is very common for them to lose the words to express their condition, their plans, and
tasks they are currently experiencing.
Indeed, it is weird, but there are some reasons why they lose their ability to say things
that they like.
#1 - Basically humans are visual thinker
Words that replace visuals or mental image we experience and perceive are not naturally
coming from human.
They come as the process of learning, and we all know that things that come with learning
can be forgotten.
It is just like you forget how to solve math questions, and it also happens when you want
to say something that your minds have pictured.
Scientists have observed this condition, and somehow it is inevitable even for extroverts.
However, introverts actually suffer more from this visual thinking habit.
#2 - Why is it worse for introverts?
The reason is simply because introverts are usually left behind compared to extroverts.
You have so many thoughts running on your head, but some of them have been explained
by the extroverts.
Somehow you do not think to add more things to the conversation, even though you have
the info, and let the cycle of conversation ends between extroverts.
Consistently missing this chance actually leaves introverts at its worst stage of not
being stuttered in the time of need.
If the introverts remain silent for the rest of their life, there is a huge chance that
they cannot produce words that they even have prepared in their head.
#3 - Introverts rely on long term memory
Long term memory stores information for long period of time.
However, the drawback is that you cannot access the information quickly and easily.
It requires special trigger or key to unlock the safe for the memory itself.
Unfortunately, most information received by introverts is transferred to long term memory,
disabling the introverts to recall the information as quickly as they want.
That is why it is pretty common to see introverts blank or fading off when they want to tell
something.
#4 - Anxiety
With everything mentioned earlier, it is actually possible to deal with long term memory and
anything.
Introverts need to take more time to say things they want.
That way, they can express things they want as long as they go easy, focus, and keep being
triggered.
However, things can get worse when anxiety strikes.
In some social settings, introverts can be anxious and they just cannot express the words
that they want to say.
Introverts usually get this attack when people around them start forcing them to say something
because of deemed too shy.
They get this attack when they need to express something without preparation.
The solution for this issue is nothing but experience.
As introverts, it is important to be rational and try to be active somehow.
#5 - Speaking is always harder than writing
Introverts and extroverts have different ways in producing discourse.
Introverts, in particular, have more excellent ability to write instead of speaking.
They can flawlessly write articles from their observation, ideas, and analysis.
But it's quite hard for them to speak their mind.
Well, at least that's some of the reasons why words are so hard for introverts according
to science.
So, really cool information isn't it?
