Actors Who Were Never The Same After A Role - Duration: 4:17.

Actors who dive deep into their characters can be playing with fire, both psychologically

and physically.

Sometimes in the line of duty, a role can get too far under an actor's skin, or the

process of making the film is such a difficult journey that the performer feels the effects

long after the cameras have stopped rolling.

Here are some actors who were left permanently changed by a movie role.

Tom Hanks

Beloved actor Tom Hanks has put his body through rigorous physical torment to transform into

some of his characters.

He lost a ton of weight to play a lawyer with AIDS in Philadelphia, and again to play a

castaway in Cast Away.

But he's also gained weight for movie roles, like Coach Jimmy Dugan in A League of Their

Own.

According to People magazine, in 2013 Hanks revealed that he had been diagnosed with type

2 diabetes, which he blamed in part on movie-related weight fluctuations.

He went on to say this is the reason he can no longer gain weight for film roles.

Kate Winslet

The 2008 film The Reader gave Kate Winslet her Oscar-winning role of an illiterate Nazi

camp guard who preys on a teenage boy – but was it worth it?

Winslet had a difficult time both finding her character and letting go of it afterward.

Before shooting, Winslet viewed film of a Nazi concentration camp, which understandably

disturbed her.

She told The Huffington Post,

"Once you see documentary footage of the camp, you read anything on the Holocaust, you can

never unsee those things, you can never unhear, unread them.

I'm still absolutely traumatized by so much of what I saw during the preparation process."

Winslet admitted that after filming wrapped, she couldn't speak about it.

She said,

"It was truly overwhelming.

I really went somewhere.

I was in some kind of a trance.

And I'm still coming to terms with all of it."

Mila Kunis

In 2010's trippy psychological thriller Black Swan, Mila Kunis is haunting as the obsession

of Natalie Portman's character — a role that required the already tiny actress to

drop down to just 95 pounds.

"I had to look skinny in order to look like a ballerina...

You fake it.

So, the best way to fake it is to unfortunately look like it."

Kunis later gained back the 20 pounds she lost with no problem.

But in doing so, the actress says her body has never been the same.

The rapid weight loss and subsequent gain apparently changed the very shape of her figure.

She told Harper's Bazaar,

"When I got down to 95 pounds, I was muscles, like a little brick house, but skin and bones.

When I gained it back, it went to completely different areas.

All the weight that left my chest went to my side hip, my stomach."

Jake Gyllenhaal

It was the title role in the nightmarish cult classic Donnie Darko that really gave Jake

Gyllenhaal a name as an actor.

His performance was masterful, which makes it surprising that he wasn't the director's

first choice.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jason Schwartzman had landed the role and started

preparing, but then pulled out because of a scheduling conflict.

Gyllenhaal said in a 2016 SAG-AFTRA talk that it still haunts him to think about the version

that would have starred Schwartzman.

"He still intimidates me to this day, even though I'm the one who played that role. Not as an actor, maybe yes, as an actor.

But just the fact that it had been his."

George Clooney

Even though he knew he'd have to film a torture scene for the 2005 political thriller Syriana,

George Clooney probably didn't think he'd wind up going through actual torturous pain.

As Rolling Stone reported, while shooting the sequence, Clooney sustained neck and spinal

injuries.

When subsequent headaches became unbearable and a substance came out of his nose that

turned out to be spinal fluid, Clooney sought professional medical treatment.

Clooney told Rolling Stone that he contemplated taking his own life in the hospital just to

make the pain stop.

He said,

"[I was] lying in a hospital bed with an IV in my arm, unable to move, having these headaches

where it feels like you're having a stroke."

A surgery mostly relieved all of Clooney's Syriana-related health problems, but years

later, Clooney says he can still get those nasty headaches.

Uma Thurman

While filming the epic revenge tale Kill Bill, writer-director Quentin Tarantino asked star

Uma Thurman to perform a driving scene.

As Variety reported, she didn't want to do it — it seemed to her that the seat hadn't

properly been secured, but Thurman says she was pretty much forced into it.

She filmed the scene, and the wonky car drifted off a road and crashed into a tree.

Thurman endured knee and neck injuries that she says still give her pain more than 15

years later.

Thurman doesn't believe Tarantino acted with any malice, but she found the stunt to be,

quote, "negligent to the point of criminality."

It's fine if he shows up at 7

but the staff has to come at 7 too.

The writers have to be there.

You're tiring out the director and writers.

The staff doesn't need to be there?

They were there and they looked tired.

How could they not show up when you're there?

I use that radio booth too.

The staff members always sit in the same spot.

Over time I noticed them getting skinnier.

Hyunmoo, even if we show up early for a radio show

it's never earlier than 30 minutes.

Making it 30 minutes early is remarkable.

Sometimes I go in when the theme song plays.

Let's say there are 100 staff members.

It's better for me to show up early.

Making them wait for me makes me uncomfortable.

That's why I show up a bit early.

Hyunwoo, stop that.

I know I heard his radio show being broadcast

but he was still at the entrance.

I was like, "Shouldn't you hurry, Hyunwoo?"

Hurry and open it. I have to do the opening."

What was that?

Why don't you try being on time for once?

I heard this about Hyunwoo.

His show was starting but he walked slowly.

I don't run that often.

sent me text messages.

The radio staff feels like a family.

They're like family.

Sujong, you couldn't read a story due to crying?

I struggle whenever it's a story about a father.

When I was a kid our family immigrated.

I parted ways with them in 8th grade and saw

my dad briefly as an adult. He passed away abroad.

So whenever I read a story about a father...

I always struggle.

I'm reminded of my own dad.

And this one story was about a sick father.

The entire family listens to my show.

The kids sent a letter to me

expressing their love for their dad. As I read it...

I was in tears the entire time.

The listeners can relate to Sujong when he cries

and they cry with him.

Radio is all about being relatable.

I can relate to what Sujong said.

On my last radio show...

Your mom. Right.

I cried so much.

I think all I did was cry for 20 minutes.

My voice was off then too.

It was the last episode of my radio show

and I was feeling sick. I was all bloated.

I was sad to end my radio show

but I did feel a bit relieved too.

Because it's so hard.

That's when I got a text from my mom.

And I read it.

I wanted to read it to the listeners.

I took a look and it was two lines.

DC Lawyer Drops 'Historic Bombshell' About What Obama 'Meticulously Hid' While President.

A new report from assistant U.S. attorney Andy McCarthy is revealing the startling lengths

that Obama went to in order to ensure that Hillary was elected, because he knew that

Hillary would help sweep all his crimes underneath the rug.

In the latest Obama Drama Scandal, McCarthy reveals through his article for the National

Review the unbelievable steps that Obama went through in order to get away with their crimes.

But after the election didn't go as planned, now all of Obama's dirty laundry is being

aired for the entire world to see.

McCarthy reveals that it wasn't the FBI or the Department of Defense's decision

to not prosecute Hillary, but it was Obama's master plan all along, where the former president

even used pseudonymous email account to communicate with Clinton on her non-secure email, so the

two could communicate about their treasonous plans without anyone knowing.

Former assistant U.S. attorney Andrew McCarthy contended in a recent opinion editorial that

the "inevitable" decision not to prosecute Hillary Clinton for her use of a private email

server, during her tenure as Secretary of State was former "President Barack Obama's

call — not the FBI's, and not the Justice Department's.

Obama of course went on national television to lie his ass off, saying that he just found

out about Hillary's non-secure server, which is complete BS, since he had been communicating

WITH HER through a secret identity through these channels!

What's even more sick is that Obama had all his minions in place to safeguard all

the treachery that was taking place.

John Podesta, Hillary's campaign manager, even demanded that email exchanges between

Obama and Hillary be "held back," citing ridiculous "executive privileges," that

worked for a time.

But unfortunately for the former Traitor-In-Chief, his massive whoppers set off a domino effect

that's now helping expose the massive scandal that was until now kept under wraps.

McCarthy went on to explain that it was at this point Obama took the deception to the

next level by sealing all communications he had with Clinton through email.

"Obama had his email communications with Clinton sealed.

He did this by invoking a dubious presidential-records privilege.

The White House insisted that the matter had nothing to do with the contents of the emails,

of course; rather, it was intended to vindicate the principle of confidentiality in presidential

communications with close advisers.

With the media content to play along, this had a twofold benefit: Obama was able (1)

to sidestep disclosure without acknowledging that the emails contained classified information,

and (2) to avoid using the term "executive privilege" — with all its dark Watergate

connotations — even though that was precisely what he was invoking.

Note that claims of executive privilege must yield to demands for disclosure of relevant

evidence in criminal prosecutions.

But of course, that's not a problem if there will be no prosecution."

After Obama tried desperately to hide his email traffic to Hillary by crafting the plot

to not investigate her for her email scandals, that's when Comey began drafting his exoneration

letters before he even interviewed key witnesses as he knew full well that Hillary would never

be prosecuted for her crimes.

That's when the infamous "tarmac meeting" took place between Attorney General Loretta

Lynch and Bill Clinton, where their final plans could be made in secret.

McCarthy also touched on that in his article saying:

"On July 1, amid intense public criticism of her meeting with Bill Clinton, Attorney

General Lynch piously announced that she would accept whatever recommendation the FBI director

and career prosecutors made about charging Clinton.

Then the infamous texts were sent between FBI agents Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, where

they discussed how Lynch "knows no charges will be brought."

The very next day is when Hillary Clinton was interviewed by Strzok, which is documented

below.

McCarthy went on:

"On the same day, according to a Strzok–Page text, a revised draft of Comey's remarks

was circulated by his chief of staff, Jim Rybicki.

It replaced "the President" with "another senior government official."

This effort to obscure Obama's involvement had an obvious flaw: It would practically

have begged congressional investigators and enterprising journalists to press for the

identification of the "senior government official" with whom Clinton had exchanged

emails.

That was not going to work."

This is absolutely unbelievable.

From day one this entire debacle was not only intricately planned, but Obama and Hillary

tirelessly worked every single detail, laying out the framework for two knowing they'd

get exonerated for their crimes.

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee said Americans are "going to lose patience" with Attorney

General Jeff Sessions because of what he said is a hesitation to prosecute government officials

like Lois Lerner and Peter Strzok.

Huckabee said he believes most Americans want to see officials like Bruce Ohr, Strzok and

Lisa Page, of the Justice Department and FBI, respectively, and Lerner, formerly of the

IRS, prosecuted, but said Sessions may be worried about facing accusations of partisanship.

FBI officials Strzok and Page were found to have exchanged derogatory messages about President

Trump during the 2016 campaign.

Strzok worked on the FBI's probe into Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server,

and later on the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election and possible

collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian officials.

Special counsel Robert Mueller later removed Strzok from the investigation into the Trump

campaign.

Ohr, a senior official at the Justice Department, was demoted earlier this month for failing

to disclose meetings with representatives from Fusion GPS, the firm behind the Trump

dossier.

Ohr's wife also worked for Fusion GPS before the 2016 election.

Huckabee stated that if Abedin is not prosecuted, "I think we're all going to lose patience

with the attorney general.

I love Jeff Sessions.

I think he's a great guy.

But he's got to do the job that he's there to do, and that's to universally enforce

the law.

And when I say universally, without regard to who a person is, if they're the highest

person in the land, or if they are the lowest person in the land."Huckabee went on to

mention Lois Lerner, Bruce Ohr, Peter Strzok, and Lisa Page as people who should be held

accountable as well.

Strzok was a top member of Mueller's investigative team before it was revealed that he had been

exchanging anti-Trump texts with his mistress Lisa Page, an FBI lawyer who was also involved

in the investigation.

Ohr was demoted from his position at the Department of Justice after it was revealed that his

wife had been hired to probe Trump for opposition research firm Fusion GPS.

Lerner has yet to be held accountable for going after conservative groups during her

time as head

of

the IRS.

Twitter Beef: Darren Till, Kamaru Usman, and Jorge Masvidal In Chronological Order - Duration: 5:44.

It's Been a longtime since I brought some twitter beef news but one erupted yesterday

between Kamaru Usman, Darren Till, and even Jorge Masvidal was dragged into it.

This really stems from Darren always claiming that he is willing to fight anyone in the

welterweight division and wants to fight his way to a title shot and not talk his way to

it.

Currently, Till is ranked number 7 and Kamaru is right below at number 8.

Kamaru wants a fight vs Till in Liverpool or a fight vs #10 ranked Santiago POnzinnibio

for the first UFC event in Chile on May 19th one week before Darren's headlining event

in liver pool on the 27th.

Kamaru claims the UFC is doing everything in their power to keep both Ponzinnibio and

Darren winning.

So, Usman decided to call Darren's bluff and said:

hey everyone it's Ian K back again with another one for ya this time headed

into BK to take a look at the latest version of their popular King burgers

it's looking to bring some sourdough goodness to the party that's right it's

the all-new sourdough king and it sure looks as meaty as ever so let's see if

this one deliveries after we scoop it up to that drive-thru yes hi peep this

out can I go for the new sourdough king just to sandwich by itself and that's it

thanks so much I love checking out these new king burgers at BK make sure to

one is your favorite hey hey good I'm looking for a little

sourdough life in my drive through life actually I should say I'll try it I'll

try it beautiful see ya alright guys let's peep this out

it's the latest version of the popular King burgers here at BK the all-new

sourdough king and I am already digging the presentation of this one strictly

because it's not the same sesame seed bun that we see every single month with

one of these so it's already winning in the presentation department definitely

digging a toastiness of that sourdough bread and it's actually pretty soft as

well too let's lift this up and see we've got underneath looks like some

sliced onion that's sweet tomato sauce which actually looks kind of like

Thousand Island dressing we've got some hickory smoked bacon a half pound of

beef guys 2 quarter pound patties and we've got some cheese and of course we

have got to do that pull in the middle here let's lift it up and see all the

gooey goodness here decent guys very decent as always and very cheesy as

always on the very bottom of this one we've got more of that sweet tomato

sauce which again looks very similar to Thousand Island dressing here so a very

simple build this one but man the smell definitely smells pretty fantastic

and as always I'm excited to bite into another version of the popular king

burgers here at BK this is the all-new sourdough king let's peep out this

flavor now while this one is part of the bacon

king family it definitely feels different because of that sourdough

bread let's dive in it's the all-new sourdough king here at BK mmmm well

instantly right after that first bite that sweet tomato-like sauce is trying

to overtake the flavor of the flame grilled patties themselves it's not quite

up there in terms of the flavor itself compared to the beef but it is sweet and

you can definitely taste it let's keep going alright now that bite was

actually sweeter than the first one guys I got a lot more of that sauce that time

and I got to say it is still very very sweet but thankfully the hickory smoke

of the bacon is adding to the beefy flavor of the patties themselves but

guys just be warned it's a little up there in the sweet factor as always

these king burgers are a beefy situation as you can see they don't skimp on the

amount of beef in here and when you've got a half pound of it before cooking

guys you can see it takes up a good chunk of the sandwich and I'm down with

that and although I can't really taste the sourdough too well it's really more

for the presentation of it here I do like the way it feels while I'm biting

into it and I got to say overall it's just as tasty of a king burger as most

of the other ones have been that bacon is pretty crispy and the onions are

actually adding some additional crunch so that's actually a nice touch

mmmm pretty good and as always the gooey American cheese that melts in the center

of this one is always a highlight guys it really is one of the signatures for

Burger King on top of the flavor of the beef here but I gotta say it's that

sweet sauce that really is the wild card with this one you may like it you may

not but I got to say overall thanks to the hickory smoke of the bacon that

additional saltiness is helping to balance out everything in this one so I

think I see why they did that there I think this one without the bacon would

have been a little too sweet but I'm really diggin the quality of this one

guys it is pretty tasty so while I can't really taste the sourdough of the bread

itself here guys everything on the middle that it's holding here as you can

see the patties starting to fall out the back there is the signature of BK the

cheese is pretty tasty on it the hickory smoke of the bacon and then obviously

the beef itself is awesome but like I said it's that sauce that you may or may

not like it depends upon your preference for sweet but I am definitely diggin the

quality of what this one has to offer it's still a very hearty burger but of

course that's just my opinion what do you guys think do you think this all-new

sourdough king is worthy of the king name because I can tell you from a beef

standpoint it absolutely is I mean guys it's the double whopper patties and all

the gooey cheese that BK is known for with some pretty decent toppings to go

with but drop some comments down below and let me know what you think of this

one and as for the overall score I'm gonna have to give the all-new sourdough

king here at BK a pretty solid 8 out of 10 guys this is still a King burger

through and through and how could it not be since it's part of the bacon King

family you already know what you're getting yourself into with the whopper

patties the cheese and the bacon alone so it's all gonna come down to your

preference on a sweet type of sauce on top of the goodness that these king

burgers are known for here at BK but still very highly recommended and those

are my thoughts on the latest king coming at you from Burger King as we

I struggle whenever it's a story about a father.

When I was a kid our family immigrated.

I parted ways with them in 8th grade and saw

my dad briefly as an adult. He passed away abroad.

So whenever I read a story about a father...

I always struggle.

I'm reminded of my own dad.

And this one story was about a sick father.

The entire family listens to my show.

The kids sent a letter to me

expressing their love for their dad. As I read it...

I was in tears the entire time.

The listeners can relate to Sujong when he cries

and they cry with him.

Radio is all about being relatable.

I can relate to what Sujong said.

On my last radio show...

I cried so much.

I think all I did was cry for 20 minutes.

My voice was off then too.

It was the last episode of my radio show

and I was feeling sick. I was all bloated.

I was sad to end my radio show

but I did feel a bit relieved too.

Andrew Zimmern Cooks: Avgolemono Sauce - Duration: 5:23.

Avgolemono Sauce, one of the classic sauces in the Greek pantheon of

culinary wisdom. It's a wonderful, liaised

sauce. Very lemony, tart with dill and

wine, earthy with stock bound with eggs,

hence the word liaised. So it's a little

tricky cuz you know, like other sauces liaised with eggs, you want to make sure

your eggs are tempered and you don't wind up with scrambled eggs or clotted

bits of egg in the sauce so. While my

lamb is resting and this is typically

how I would make this. A little bit of

oil is okay in here, but you very slowly

want to tip away the fat. The oil comes

to the top, and those streaky bits of

browned lamb juice linger at the bottom.

So just go nice and slowly if you have a

gravy separator this is an ideal time to use it. A little bit of oil is gonna

emulsify into this sauce, thanks to the liaised eggs, so I'm gonna stop there. If

you want to be super clean about this, you can always use a spoon, and skim that

last little bit away. There's all of our yummy little lamb scrapings all of that

is delicious flavor. The challenge here, right now, is how to get those off the

pan. I have some light stock here, I'm gonna

set this over the burner. I don't need

much time on my stovetop to let the heat

and the liquid get all of those brown

scrapey bits, known in classical French

cooking as fond, because it's the

foundation of so many great sauces. Off

my pan, 30 seconds of that and we're all

done. Do you remember that light color stock, that was in that cup measure? Look at

this now deep and rich and lambie. I don't mind any of those solids in there,

if you want to be elegant about it we're gonna strain the sauce later on anyway.

Those will all get caught up in there and we're just gonna heat that up we're

and our white wine, a tablespoon of our

lemon juice, we're gonna let that reduce

by about half. We have roughly about two,

two and a quarter cups in there. We want

to wind up with about a cup of liquid.

It's gonna take, five six seven minutes.

Now, if you notice I chose a pan with

high sides, but also one that's fairly

wide, to help the evaporation process. In this bowl here, while that's reducing

pinch of salt, two tablespoons of

lemon juice, my eggs.

Whisk those together, that little bit of lemon juice in there, is there for fresh

lemon flavor. But the other benefit of having them in there is that it also

tempers our eggs. If there were just beaten eggs, the minute that that hot

stock goes in there you would start overcooking them, with a little bit of

liquid in there, even if it was a tablespoon or two of water, it's gonna

slow that process down. While that's reducing I'm also gonna mince my dill,

we're gonna put that in at the last minute, so all of that fresh dill flavor

goes in there. All right, so let's see how close we are. Oh yeah.

right on the nose, one cup. What you want to do, because we're tempering this, I

have very hot liquid here, I have room-temperature eggs and lemon juice

here. So a really thin stream, so even as

it drops from my cup measure into my

eggs, it tempers those it just makes them warmer, it doesn't set them. And as you

can see here absolutely no cooked egg, and temperature-wise it's warm maybe 85

degrees. Once you're successful, throwing that first quarter cup in, bombs away

with the rest! And then this mixture goes back into my pan. My pan is hot so before

I even stick the heat on it, I'm going to cook it a little more. Just by the fact

that it went into a hot pan, it actually thickened up just a little

bit. So now all I'm doing, is warming this up and allowing those eggs to set my

sauce. When I want to cool it down, I just pick it up when I want more heat,

I just set it down. See those little wisps of steam? That's the pan talking to

me it's getting hot enough for this sauce to thicken a little bit and all of

a sudden it just kind of set.

Remember all those lamb solids that went in there? Those are them, dill.

Now sometimes, I'll keep this sauce hot in a thermos, sometimes you can just set it on

a warm part of the stove. But our lamb has been resting, so it's time to slice

it. Plate this thing with some root vegetables, add all of our delicious

sauce to it and have dinner!

It's from Caffe Umbria, one of my favorite coffee roasters.

Now they're carrying it at Whole Foods which is super amazing.

This blend I'm using is suitable for all sorts of brewing styles so you can use the French

press, you can filter it or you can use it in espresso.

I'm always impressed when I go to Caffe Umbria, the cafe downtown in Seattle.

It always reminds me 'Yes, coffee can be a lot better.'

I think it tastes amazing in cappuccinos.

The company was started by an Italian family so the tradition of the roastery is Italian.

The beans are probably designed more for espresso drinks.

I've tried all three methods and they all taste good.

Posh Favorites for Spring 2018 - Duration: 4:15.

Hello!!!~ My name is Athena Moskal and I am a Perfectly Posh representative. Today I

want to talk to you guys about what my absolute favorite products are and for

that it's pretty simple, I love absolutely everything listed in this

spring catalog. I am obsessed with all of the different kinds of fresh and kind of

just spring *awkward pause and laugh* I'm so sorry I am obsessed with all of these fresh items

they feel soothing and cooling and they just make you know that spring is on its

way. And some of the really really great things about these items that are in this

spring catalog- ahh. Some of the really really great things about these items in this

spring catalog is that almost all of them contain some amount of cucumber or

cactus and those individual ingredients do SO much for your skin. Cucumber itself

is anti-aging, it's an antioxidant, it does moisturizing, it helps cure acne

it's skin toner, and it just it really rejuvenates your skin. And cactus on its

own it has 7 different -er.. oof. not seven. It has 17 different amino acids in it

and of those seventeen, 8 of them are specifically great for your skin and for

your health and I think that it is so important that you get all of the

vitamins and minerals that you need into your skin to make it look healthy and

dewy and just some general kind of fresh and alive and I really really really

want you guys to know so the one product that I do use on a daily basis is this

rosewater mist, Mist And Shout, and I really like it because it's so easy to

put on and it's the moisturizer I use every day it is

rosewater and it's kind of... it feels very luxury it's kind of- I feel kind of like

a movie star when I'm using it and I just want you guys to be aware of these

products that I'm selling... I love this specific spring extra 2018 catalog and

they're not going to last forever. I want you guys to get them all, the stuff

here. We've got four of them now, we've got one away and I want you guys to get

a chance to try them before we move on to summer catalog. Of these items there are

two chunks two bath bars they're kind of like soap one is Fantasy That and

that one has a little tiny mica powder in it it's a glittery shimmery kind of a

thing and I know I personally love glitter and the other one is called

Bramble On it just very soothing it's kind of cooling all of these products

for the most part.. I think, 24 Carrots, the only one that I've tried thus far that

doesn't have a cooling aspect to it most of them are great for sunburns we have

we have so many great products you guys and there's also in this catalog there

is the Bare It All makeup wipes I just want you guys to get a chance to try

Announcing the Zebra Munchies Indiegogo Campaign! - Duration: 1:25.

Hi, I'm Annie Tohill, and I'm a chronically ill college student making my senior animated film, Zebra Munchies.

Zebra Munchies is a 1950s style cereal commercial about Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, a rare connective tissue disorder.

I have a connective tissue disease related to Ehlers Danlos Syndrome,

and I deal with a lot of the issues with joint hypermobility and many of the comorbidities that go with that.

I'm making Zebra Munchies because I wanted to raise awareness for connective tissue disorders,

but especially Ehlers Danlos, while being entertaining.

A lot of the educational materials about Ehlers Danlos are very dry and they're not very accesible to people who aren't scientists.

Also one of the biggest barriers to diagnosis is just not knowing it exists, especially if doctors don't know about it.

Awareness can also lead to research funds, which will help lead to new, innovative treatments.

Also, sometimes you just need to, like, laugh about your messed up body.

I'm doing this Indiegogo because I need a crew to help me finish the film,

especially with ink and paint, and with the audio.

Any funds past what I need to hire crew will be donated to the Ehlers Danlos Society.

Camp NaNoWriMo 2018 tag - Duration: 8:55.

Hi there! It's Diane, the nursing geek. Welcome back to my channel if you are a

subscriber. If you are not and this is your first time here, then welcome for

the first time to my channel. If you decide that you would like to see more

of this, please do hit the subscribe button below so that you will know when

new content comes up. Today I'm doing the Camp NaNoWriMo 2018 tag which was

started by Haley Bascom. Haley, if I am butchering your name please tell me how

to say it correctly. It's a series of just six questions that she came up with

for people to talk about what they're doing for NaNoWriMo there's a ...

Camp NaNoWriMo. There's a number of videos already floating around out there,

but not a tag that has people answering all the same specific questions. I thought

they were pretty good questions to work with so, yeah. Question number one: what

are you working on for this year's Camp NaNoWriMo? You would think that was an

easy question. There are a number of reasons it's not an easy question. Let's

start with what I'm working on. I had to think long and hard about how much I

was gonna say about this, and actually whether I was gonna do the tag.

'Cause I do try to keep my life kind of separate between my academic self and

my less-academic self. But considering this channel is entitled "nursing geek" and

I film with the exploding TARDIS behind me, it's probably kind of obvious that I am

a science fiction and fantasy geek of some flavor. And so it's probably not

terribly surprising, especially since as I've said in other videos I mainly write

for fun ... When I write my fiction my fiction is

not written for the intent of going through the whole "submitting to

publishers" process and there's a number of reasons for that, one of which is to

keep it fun and not work, and two, because the type of fiction that I

tend to do is what is politely known as transformative fiction and more commonly

called fanfiction. So fiction that is based on existing

worlds, existing characters in some sort of existing media - can be book, can be

movien can be TV show. So what I'm working on is gonna be a type of fanfiction.

It was actually something that I had auctioned off, so to speak, as part

of a fundraiser. That's something that's done in fandom every so often that

people will say, "Okay, well if you donate at least ten bucks to this charity, I

will write you a story of this length" or, you know, draw a picture of your favorite

character or whatever it is. In my case, it was, "Okay, if you donate at least ten

bucks to this charity, I will write you a five to ten thousand word story." So the

deadline for that actually is until this November, but I don't want to leave the

person waiting that long. They made their donation a while ago already. I've had so

many other things going on that I ... I've started working on it but I haven't gotten that far.

Not as far as I would have liked. So my goal is to have that particular piece

done, edited, ready to send off to the person by the end of April. That kind of

runs into question number three, but we'll get there in a second. Question

number two: how many Camp NaNoWriMos have you participated in?

That's a nice short one: zero. This is the first one, so we'll see. This is ... this is a

new experience. The first NaNoWriMo that I officially participated in was this

past November. I know I have attempted NaNoWriMo before, but either I didn't

know to register or something, because I didn't even have an existing account.

and this was ... So this was the first time I officially participated and actually

finished, and this is now my first camp.

Question number three: how will you be tracking your progress? I decided I'm

going to measure my progress in terms of hours rather than words, partly because

I'm including editing in the process, and that often results in

subtracting words more than ... and adding them. And so having a net word count goal

doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Also I have a lot of other projects that I will

probably spend some time working on as well, so my goal is more just to get back

into a daily writing routine of about an hour a day, so 30 hours. How will I be

tracking it physically? In my bullet journal, and there'll probably a video

about that at some point. Question number four: what's in your bag?

What are your writing must-haves? Honestly, tea. Probably ... usually an herbal

tea. Water. Something to drink. Music. I often create specific playlists for what

I'm working on, and if I don't have a specific playlist then I will just

listen to my any Pandora channel. Some people can't listen to music with words.

I primarily listen to music with words. the main thing is I need to shut out the

ambient noise, whatever that may be. Even if there's not much ambient noise, I've

gotten so used to writing with music playing, that that's my default.

Those are the main things. And, you know, some means of writing, either my...

usually my tablet. Sometimes I'll do some stuff out by hand, but I don't do that as

much anymore. I used to do that quite a bit more when I first started, but now I

mostly type directly, 'cause otherwise I end up, you know, writing stuff twice.

Question number five: what kind of cabin are you in and how did you choose your cabin?

I am in the same cabin as Haley. The cabin is full of author-tubers started by Kate

Cavanaugh. I will link Kate below as well. How did I choose it? She mentioned she

was starting a cabin, and I said, "Hey wouldn't it be cool if I was at a cabin

that I knew at least one person ." So I asked if I could join. She said sure. And

I think it's also gonna be interesting working with other author-tubers because

I do think that doing this sort of visual communication in addition to

writing changes how you think about writing and how you think about

communication. And so I'm looking forward to seeing if that plays into our

discussions in the cabin in any way. And question number six: Camp NaNoWriMo vs.

NaNoWriMo? First time doing Camp last time was first time doing Nano ... I don't

know. For this time of year, you know, having the flexibility to set a goal

that is not 50,000 words definitely works better for me. even though both

November and April are pretty much coming up on the end of semester, the

difference between fall and spring and what's going on is huge. So being able to

set the bar a little lower for what I'm doing for this type of writing as

opposed to all the stuff I'm doing for the university is really great. I think

they might just be different enough that I

may not have a preference other than I'm glad the timing is what it is. [laughs]
