Tokyo, Japan, May 10, 1975
Sony develops a new technology called Betamax.
It was the first video tape recording form made widely available for the public.
People could use this technology to, for the first time ever, record stuff from live TV or even from other recordings for future use.
Now, eventually, Betamax would lose the of the late 1970s and early 1980s to its archenemy, the dreaded VHS.

While Beta was a formidable opponent, VHS triumphed, until it eventually was defeated in another war to the great DVD.
Anyway, for the first couple years, before VHS entered the scene, Betamax was living the dream, the next big thing.
But many corporations in the film and television industries did not like this new technology so much.
Universal Studios, the Walt Disney Company and other TV and film corporations sued Sony's American-based operations in California District Court for copyright infringement.
These corporations argued that Sony's customers were using the Betamax recording devices to record copyrighted programs so they could view them later. The nerve!
Two years later-man things can move slowly in court- the California District Court ruled in favor of Sony, arguing that recording for noncommercial home use fell under fair use guidelines, and that access to free public information was protected under the First Amendment under fair use.
One major problem with fair use, however, is that it can be interpreted many ways, you know like the Bible, or the Constitution?
Here is what the Copyright Act of 1976 said about fair use. Did you read all that? Good.
Universal Studios and the rest appealed to the Ninth Circuit Court, who in 1981 reversed the lower court's decision, saying that yes, Sony was contributing to copyright infringement by selling these Betamax machines.
They argued the main purpose of Betamax was copying, and even suggested damages to be paid to the TV and film corporations and further legal restrictions on Betamax and similar home recording technologies like VHS.
By this time, though, both Beta and VHS were selling like crazy.
Sony of course appealed to the Supreme Court, who heard oral arguments on January 18, 1983.
The Court really struggled with this one.
And they're weren't divided politically, meaning this wasn't your typical conservative/liberal divide.
Perhaps they just had a hard time grasping the implications of this new technology.
Justice John Paul Stevens wrote a dissenting opinion expecting the Court to rule against Sony and for Universal and the rest.
However, he wrote the opinion as if it was a majority opinion.
By sneakily doing this, he may have persuaded two justices, William Brennan and Byron White to come his way.
On January 17, 1984, the Court finally announced its decision. It was 5-4, in favor of Sony.
The Court argued that many broadcast copyright holders didn't care if their programming was copied for home use.
The most famous example of this was Fred Rogers or Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood fame.
Rogers testified at the district court and said he was cool with it, saying it actually helped his show be seen more.
The Court further argued that Universal, Disney, or the other media corporations couldn't prove that Beta and VHS copies for home use of their material hurt them.
The dissent argued that taping copyrighted programming was indeed copyright infringement not protected by The First Amendment.
Looking back at this case in 2018, however, the dissenting minority seems quite old fashioned and out of touch.
After the decision, Universal and Disney immediately tried to get Congress to pass a law that would protect them from the effects of home video duplication.
But by that time, it was too late- VCRs were everywhere and millions were already copying stuff.
Sony v Universal, aka The Betamax Case, is the most important Supreme Court decision dealing with the development and distribution of the video cassette recorder.
It allowed video, as a format, to become huge in the United States.
The case gave more power to the consumer, but also ended up helping the TV and film industry anyway, as they ended up making billions from the new technology.
Imagine if the Court argued the other way in this case.
Seriously, it's very hard to imagine.
All of us have stuff on our computer that was copied.
And I'd argue that YouTube wouldn't have been a thing today if not for this case.
Goodness, I guess the Supreme Court DOES matter.

President Trump isn't playing around.
After firing SecState Rex Tillerson, rumor has it many more top officials will soon be
gone.
Fox News is calling the potential upcoming purge a 'bloodbath.'
Here's the scoop…
From Vanity Fair:
And three sources told me that the next official likely to go is National Security Adviser
H.R. McMaster, who, like Tillerson, had advocated for remaining in the deal.
Last Tuesday, Trump met with ultra-hawkish former U.N. ambassador John Bolton in the
Oval Office to discuss a potential job offer.
Bolton has for years argued that the United States should pre-emptively attack Tehran.

According to a person who spoke with Bolton after the meeting, Bolton recalled that Trump
said he wanted him to join the administration: "We need you in here, John."
Bolton responded that there were only two jobs he'd consider: secretary of state and
national security adviser.
Trump said, "O.K, I'll call you really soon."
Sources added that Trump spent much of the time with Bolton fuming that McMaster was
speaking privately with Barack Obama's former national security adviser Susan Rice. "Trump
kept saying, 'Can you believe it?
To Susan Rice?

Perhaps most consequential for Robert Mueller's investigation, sources said Trump has discussed
a plan to fire Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
According to two Republicans in regular contact with the White House, there have been talks
that Trump could replace Sessions with E.P.A.
Administrator Scott Pruitt, who would not be recused from overseeing the Russia probe.
Also, because Pruitt is already a Cabinet secretary, he would not have to go through
another Senate confirmation hearing.More on the 'bloodbath' from Fox News:
The potential changes — described by sources as a "bloodbath" — include the departure
of National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster and his replacement by John Bolton, a former
U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.
Other departures from the administration would include Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary
David Shulkin and Chief of Staff John Kelly.
The sources have cautioned that Trump will make the ultimate decision about all staff
changes.
However, the departure of McMaster has been described by multiple sources as "imminent."
Kelly would be replaced as chief of staff by Office of Management and Budget Director
Mick Mulvaney, the sources said, with Energy Secretary Rick Perry replacing Shulkin at
the VA.
Ray Washburne, the chairman of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, would replace
Perry as energy secretary.

Democrats want government agencies and entities to have hard and fast rules in place about

The Washington Times shares another example of that.
Democrats blocked a bill Tuesday that would have let dying patients try medicines that
haven't won full regulatory approval, saying they worry about cutting the federal government
out of oversight.
The "right-to-try" bill, which President Trump had called for in his State of the Union
speech this year, had strong bipartisan support — but it still fell shy of the two-thirds
majority needed to pass under the fast-track rules the GOP set for the bill.
Republican leaders decried Democrats' roadblock and vowed to force another vote soon.
Bipartisan support for something that could make a world of difference for terminal patients?
Who cares!
Democrats know what's right, and everyone else is just too stupid to understand the
sageness of their decision-making process.
Back in reality, the rest of us have to deal with the consequences of their actions.
Supporters say patients who've exhausted other treatment options or don't qualify
for clinical trials deserve the chance to obtain drugs that made it through first-phase
safety testing at the Food and Drug Administration, without interference from the government.
"For too many families, access to these life-saving treatments will come too late
or not at all," said Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, Pennsylvania Republican.
Dozens of states have passed their own measures on a bipartisan basis.
If dozens of other states can come to a conclusion that makes sense for all, then why on Earth
can't members of Congress do the same thing?
Call us crazy, but we're in the camp of those that think they're wildly off the
mark to the point of being preposterous.
In a nutshell, it's because Democrats feel the need to dig their feet into the ground
yet again to insist that they – and only they – know what's best for all.
So now they themselves consist of the death panel that we never dreamed would ever be
found possible in our country.
But, here it is, led by progressive Nancy Pelosi.
In short, Democrats are now assisting and encouraging the deaths of their own constituents,
all because they believe their agenda is more important than people.
And that, my friends, is why we need to clean house come November and get rid of these Liberals.

engage law enforcement if a serious disciplinary issue or violent crime has occurred."
Republican Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida has urged the administration to revise the Obama-era
guidance, to make sure that schools report dangerous students to police.
This was completely idiotic liberal nonsense.
Once again, Obama wanted to baby minorities, holding them to a lower standard than everyone
else.
Obama wanted you to believe black students were being unfairly targeted for suspensions
and expulsions.
Not at all, Barry.
They were being suspended because they misbehaved in class.
Toxic liberal ideology preaches everything has to do with race.
If a black student gets in trouble, it has nothing to do with what he did, but his skin
color.
Whatever happened to treating everyone the same?
If a student breaks the rules, he should get punished.
Why should that be any different because of his skin color?
This is one of the stupidest ideas put forward by the Obama administration.
It was proof that he and the Democrats wanted to divide the country.
Instead of creating a country that treats everyone the same, they wanted to give minorities
special privilege.
They basically said that black students could do whatever they wanted.
Hmm, I wonder if problems in schools increased?
You better believe they did.
In fact, one study suggests it has contributed to an increase in mass shootings, like the
one we just experienced in Florida that cost us many American lives.

Since Trump took office, Liberals have fought his leadership tooth and nail.
Democrats have resorted to several tactics to block Trump's authority.
The overall tactical plan is to utilize the judicial system and exploit it to their full
advantage.
One way they do so is to use radical judges to stall the president's executive orders
by means of an injunction.
Another way is to sue the president and his administration on what they think is an easy
win and use the judge's ruling in their favor as a precedent for their even bigger
cases.
That's just what the state of Massachusetts did when they sued President Trump on behalf
of their holiest of holy agenda items.
But in at least this particular case, Liberals just lost big, thanks to a federal judge.

A federal judge in Boston Monday threw out a lawsuit by Massachusetts' attorney general
that attempted to block the Trump administration's rules expanding exemptions from ObamaCare's
birth control mandate…
ObamaCare originally required most companies to cover birth control at no additional cost,
though it included exemptions for religious organizations.
The Trump administration's policy allows more categories of employers, including publicly
traded companies, to claim religious or moral objections to contraception.
Obama and the Left tried to force their ideals onto all Americans.
Forcing companies to provide birth control—including abortion—would have violated the beliefs
of many business owners.
Why should they pay for something they don't agree with?
Besides, can't their employees pay for their own birth control?
Liberals tried to use the birth control mandate to expand the power of government.
It would force companies to rely on government funds to pay for birth control.
Socialism at work.
But President Trump undercut the rules, giving some liberty back to Americans.
It's not a huge surprise that Liberals tried to fight back.
They hate the idea of anyone making up their own mind about this issue.
Instead, they want the government to force companies to pay for birth control and abortions.
Unfortunately for them, the federal judge sided with Trump.
Now, we can only hope that these Liberals will hole up in their safe spaces for a while
to cry it out instead of running to the mainstream media and creating the false narrative that
Trump hates women.

So, I am here because I work for the French Waterways,
a French public body which manages the whole of the waterways in France, and particularly the Canal du Midi.
And I am here with Marie, Astrid, from my team at the sponsorship mission which aims to collect funds for the protection of the Canal du Midi.
Very good. So, how do you do to collect funds ? I would like to know what are the actions that you are taking?
So, for the anecdote, it started in the 30s. They discovered a disease, which is called the canker stain and which has no cure to this day,
in the state of New York and the state of New Jersey. Today, the whole of the United States are affected by the canker, which only attacks plane trees.
And at the Canal du Midi, there are 42000 plane trees along the banks, and this is a monument which is on the Unesco World Heritage list since 1996.
So, VNF (French waterways), which is in charge of the canal management, had to create a sponsorship mission to raise funds.
In practical terms, today, we have a site called "Replantons le Canal du Midi.fr"
where people can make a donation. In 4 years, we have managed to collect more than 5 million euros from private individuals, but also companies,
as we have created a club dedicated to the replanting program, and there are many companies in the South-West of France, but also in Paris, which help us raise funds.
Very good. When did you start these specific actions?
In practical terms, the sponsorship mission was created in December 2013, and today we are lucky to count, four years later, 10000 individual donors and 70 corporate sponsors.
So it is a sponsoring campaign which works really really well. Which enabled us, to date, to finance, in collaboration with the State and local authorities, the planting of 8100 trees.
One should note that we replant all kind of trees except plane trees, mostly Turkey oak on 40% of the length and other species,
and we have managed to cut down – unfortunately, because it is necessary to cut them down, we have no other solution – 20500 trees.
Infected (trees) ? 20500 trees, plane trees which are infected or already dead, that we are obliged to cut because they are dangerous for tourists who go by boat or cycle or walk on the canal banks
and that it is a security measure from the State which requires us to cut them down.
How many are you, in the association, to work on this project?
So, in fact, we didn't need to create an association or a foundation or an endowment fund in France as this is often the case.
We are employed by the French Waterways, and there are four persons who work on a daily basis on the fund-raising.
Marie who mainly deals with the fund-raising among the general public and the communication. Astrid who is in charge of the management of the corporate club.
Suzie who is our assistant/accountant/administrator and who is key to the mission, and myself who manages it.

hey guys welcome to my workshop I wanted to take a quick minute and share with
you probably one of my most favorite hand planes that I go to all the time I
have many different planes that do different things I've got a Japanese
hand playing I've got traditional American ones I've got some that get
right up to it I've got a rabid playing I've got an old wooden block plane but
out of all those planes the one that I always seem to go to for chamfering
boards and sometimes even actually planing little boards is this little guy
here this is a cobalt hand plane and I purchased this a long time ago because I
watched a Matthias Wandel video and he has a little green one and then he made
a new one out of wood and used that and I've been inspired to want to do that
but I thought maybe this is sold somewhere so I found this in a store and
I've turned into really like in it it's really good to grab to chamfer it's
built very sturdy but this thing has really been a handy tool but I want to
show you really quickly the things you can do with this and just how beneficial
this is and this thing is under 20 bucks ok so we all know hand planes you can
chain 4 things most definitely with basically any hand plane but the bigger
it is the harder it is to to keep your your angle so this particular one is so
small it just fits in the palm of your hand it does have a little lip here if
you want to put your finger there I tend to never ever hold it that way I've got
a nice sharp edge here and you know just giving it a nice little chamfer and you
get a really nice fine edge
so I really did a nice chamfering and basically about rounded the whole edge
over and like I said before in the beginning of this video you can actually
depending on how you know this is only about an inch wide you know you can't go
wider than that I've actually hand planed little boards
with this thing and it does a decent job okay this is a better angle and I've got
you kind of a little up closer oh there we go now keep in mind I said I've
actually never sharp at this so I still got some tiny Nick's in it but this is
just fine white pine I've got to set rather deep because when I'm doing
chamfering I don't want to waste a lot of time all right as far as I want to go
so it's kicking off quite a bit of wood but you could see I'm not making much
effort and obviously these you could tell are much thicker than what you
really want them to be when you're doing something in this nature but the fact
that this thing is so small and I'm getting shavings that thick I mean I'm
uncurling it and it's staying out is a true testament to how good this little
plane is just for the very little blade that it has got a good bit of shavings
off of that so I hope that you kind of enjoyed this little video and it's
nothing much just a real quick wanting to share my personal opinion about this

Battle of the Ports - Bump 'n' Jump (バーニン'ラバー) Show #210 - 60fps - Duration: 9:29.
Bump 'n' Jump, known in Japan as Burnin' Rubber, is a 1982 arcade game created by Data East.
The game was released as both a dedicated arcade board and as part of their DECO Cassette
System.
In Bump 'n' Jump the goal is to drive from the beginning of a level to the end while
bumping enemy vehicles into obstacles and jumping over various large obstacles such
as bodies of water.
The enemy vehicles are separated into cars and trucks.
Cars can be bumped into obstacles or jumped upon and destroyed, while trucks cannot be
bumped; they can only be jumped upon.
If you are unlucky trucks will sometimes drop obstacles that will destroy the player or
if lucky they'll drop an extra life.
At the end of each level players receive bonus points for the number of enemy vehicles crashed.
Going from one level to another is characterized by a change of seasons.
Bump 'n' Jump is a fairly basic game but fun for what it is.
Being one of the last ports of Bump 'n' Jump and going under the name of Buggy Hopper in
Japan, this Famicom port added a level of complexity the game which required players
to pick up cans of petrol that are interspersed throughout each course.
Why bother collecting these?
Well, in this version, the faster you drive the more fuel you'll use.
Run out of fuel and you ain't going nowhere.
This Intellivision ports plays really well but it is an odd beast.
For some reason cars seem to change colour and even shape while driving down the road.
At other times there's vehicles so odd in design its impossible to decide what they
are.
You own car also looks like some mutant when it jumps.
Still, what matters is that the game plays well and that's just what the Intellivision
port offers.
Good playability.
Looking much nicer than the Intellivision port, this Colecovision port also offers music
while playing and various skill settings.
But not all is good with this port.
The scrolling could be smoother and there's a noticeable delay from pressing the jump
button until your car jumps.
This renders many of the jumps way too tricky.
Because by the time the car has jumped you're already in the water.
This is as basic as we can get as you'd expect with an Atari 2600.
What can I say?
It's a pretty bare bones port of Bump 'n' Jump. Good enough.
Easily the biggest disappointment out of all the ports.
The C64 is known for silky smooth scrolling yet this game is not smooth.
It also has an annoying rendition of a classical piece by Johann Sebastian Bach playing throughout
the entire game.
Add in the fact that there's no warning for jumps and we have a pretty crappy port.

Hi guys! Great to see you all again it is Claire and Rags and do you wanna know how you can bond with your cat?
Now this is something that happens between other cats and cats
and humans naturally on it's own but there are a few things you can do to
make bonding with your cats a little bit easier! Now whether you have a brand new
cat so you've adopted a new cat or you have moved somewhere where there is
already an existing cat bonding is a great way for your cat to trust you, but
also a surefire way you're gonna have a lovely furry companion. Now unfortunately
when Rags and I moved into this house Godiva was a little bit mistrustful of me
Now their relationship is going really really well but I've had to work
on it a little bit with Godiva. She is not the greatest fan of me but I have
been doing a few things over the past few weeks to help her trust me a little
bit more and we are fast becoming friends. Now one of the first things you can do if you want a bond with your cat is to let them suss you out
Now don't go straight in and grab a cat for a cuddle you want to let them get
your scent and get used to the idea of you being around. So and the first time
that you approach the cat or any you subsequent time that you want to spend
some time with them just extend a hand out to them so they can sniff you out
and find out who you are. This is one of the easiest ways for them to get
familiar with your scent and familiar with you being a safe person. Now the
first thing you need to do if you want to bond with your cat is make sure that they feel safe.
Now if you have a brand new cat so you've adopted another one or
you are moving into a house with a pre-existing cat like we did with Rags, it
is important that they have somewhere to go that is away from you and somewhere
that they feel safe. The last thing you want to do is to make your cat not like
to be in your company because you're not going to bond at all now for example
Godiva has the front lounge and the the upstairs which is her safe bolt
hole I make a point not to go to any of these areas when she's in them so that
she feels that there's so much she can go to feel safe and away from me
a good place to provide for your cat to feel safe is either a covered bed or
a carrier somewhere in a room that they can get easy access to. Now the frequent
playtime and exercise is a great way to bond with your cat! Play with one another is one
thing that cats will do automatically when they're either left alone with
other cats or they're with their siblings. So this is a surefire way that
you're going to be doing something your cat enjoys and it will eventually
associate with you and someone that they trust and enjoy spending time with. Now
great way to do this is to find one or two toys that you know that your cat
absolutely loves so they will enjoy playing with this game at all this toy
and you will be attached to the toy so eventually they are essentially at you
with this one time and begin to trust and bond with you. Now another great way
to bond with a cat is through feeding and treats - so if you are armed with a
good old bag of dreamies or something that your cat really enjoys is a great way
for them to associate you with good things. Now with Godiva this isn't
something I can do as she is on a medicated diet and she can't eat anything
except this diet but with other cats and other cat owners this is a great way for
you to bond with them. So give your cat a tasty treat every now and again is a
surefire way for them to associate you with something yummy and finally you're
going to have to be patient. Cats don't like to do anything in a rush unless
it's running to the food bowl obviously, so you're going to have to be patient
and a persevere with your cat. You are going to have good days and going to
have bad days but stick with it and eventually you'll be on the road to

MY MOST USED HAND PLANE! - Duration: 4:04.hey guys welcome to my workshop I wanted to take a quick minute and share with
you probably one of my most favorite hand planes that I go to all the time I
have many different planes that do different things I've got a Japanese
hand playing I've got traditional American ones I've got some that get
right up to it I've got a rabid playing I've got an old wooden block plane but

Turn the notebook over and carefully lay it on its lid
Undo all the screws holding down the CPU and the HDD cover
Remove the marked keyboard screws
Carefully use a thin tool to push through the screw holes. After this, the keyboard can be removed from its catches.
Carefully lift the keyboard and lay it upside down.
Carefully push the clips on the mainboard approx. 2mm backwards and loosen the flat ribbon cables
Attention: Remove the battery from the device.
Carefully push the assembly in the slot at a 45 degree angle and screw in if required.
Attention: Put the screws in the correct order back. A screw at the wrong place may damage the notebok.
When re-installing the keyboard make sure that the flat ribbon cables are connected and that the clips are tightly closed

Friday Reads | March 16th 2018 - Duration: 3:33.
Hi, it's Maija here with my Friday Reads, and I'm currently reading The Chrysalids by
John Wyndham, which is a science fiction book from the 50s.
I'm buddy reading this with Kaitlin from Kitty G, and she has actually already
finished the book - I'm about halfway through - because it's a small book and
because she's a reading machine. And I've been watching a lot of Netflix: Jessica
Jones and Annihilation, my reading has suffered a bit. But I am halfway through
and I am enjoying it so far. I really like John Wyndham's writing style, it's
sort of cozy. Even though weird or bad stuff might
happen in his books, I really like the cosy writing style that he has. So this is
about this small village, the whole world or at least this country seems to be
sort of this farming-based, lower technology world, and they are very
strict and religious about deviations, as they call them, so when plants, animals, or
people are born that deviate somehow from "the norm" - for example, in the cover
here there's a person with six toes - they are very much against this stuff. And
this tells about David, who is this young boy who also has a secret. Like I
said, I am really liking this so far. I've read Midwich Cuckoos from John
Wyndham before and I really liked that one, as well. I'm also still reading Odininlapsi
by Siri Pettersen, I'm only a hundred pages through currently
and it's a 600 page book. To tell the truth, I'm not that into this, I'm not
really feeling it, which is why I keep picking up other books instead. Then I
have a few things from the library. I know that my plan is to get only one
book a month from the library, but these are a novella and a graphic novel
so they sort of don't count.... shhh... maybe only novels count, but anyway, the novella that I
have out is a Tor.com novella, it's Margaret Killjoy's The Lamb Will Slaughter
the Lion, which you perhaps can tell from the title is a horror novella, and I
started reading this one night, I read about 30 pages, but then I fell asleep, so
I think I will restart this and read this in one day or in one sitting, because
it's only 120 pages and the text is really big - as you can
see here - so it will be a very quick read. And the graphic novel that I have out from
the library is The Prince and the Dressmaker by Jen Wang. This is quite new,
I think it just came out, and I don't know anything about this. I like how Jen
Wang draws, I've read one of her comics before, or graphic novels before, that was
Koko Be Good, and I wasn't a huge fan of the story of that one but I really liked
the art, and I have to say that I was a bit disappointed when I noticed that
this is in color, because Koko Be Good was done in these sepia tones, and I think it
was done in pencil, but anyway, you could really see the linework and I really
adore Jen Wang's linework, so I think the flat colors detract a bit from
her ink lines in this. And also because this is printed so big, I think it would
look more detailed with all these flat colors and everything if it was printed a
bit smaller, but anyway, that's just my preference, I think I'll like this anyway
and I think I will get over the fact that it is in color, and I think the
dresses will look great in color. So I'm also planning to read this one maybe
this weekend. So that's everything that I'm currently reading or that I plan to read

You asked for my hand in marriage and said, if we cripple,
YOU will lead us closer to Christ and commit to the hard marriage work.
I said "Yes" and "I do" and I entered the marriage covenant,
And I wanted to love you, respect you, and honor you.
But when I saw that the world and not God in your life after our wedding became dominant,
Confused, devastated, bitter, and resentful toward you I grew.
Being still unequipped to love you perfectly, Unable to practice UNCONDITIONAL love,
Without that promised leadership from you, I hurtfully
Blamed you, condemned you, raged at you ... all of the above.
Falling in love with you was easy.
You were the only man to always have my heart.
But when your IronMan bicycle and obsession with medals got you so busy,
Our Christian marriage covenant was tested really hard.
We abandoned each other and our vows, We betrayed, deceived, and abused one another
every day.
But through that pain I've learned what kind of growth God allows
When browsing inside myself, seeking to God obey.
And on my journey I've learned that you are imperfect, fallen, and broken,
Your faults are many... but so are mine.
And the love I feel for you in my heart, even though unspoken,
Grew to now be UNCONDITIONAL, compassionate, and divine.
I've learned that my expectations in marriage were too many,
Though came from the PDF YOU gave me, called "The Right Man,"
Those expectations you set for yourself were unrealistic and excluded any
Idea that a husband is just another fallen, broken, sinful fellow human.
You waited 11 months to even meet me, And only 4 months to file for a divorce.
You chose an IronMan obsession over your covenant commitment.
But I forgive you because I understand my own imperfections, of course.
I pray every day about your journey, For God to draw you closer to Him,
To guide you to seek the truth from Jesus and not your attorney,
To heal your heart and to put in there a Godly, not worldly, hymn.
And though I've been away from you for a month now,
I confess that my love for you only grew.
And surely it's been an exhausting emotional rodeo.
Yet, I have been remembering only the good in you.
As God has been healing my heart now, He's revealed my own imperfections to me,
The impatience with the IronMan addiction - our initial emotional rodeo.
The fear, the bitterness, and the lack of compassion toward your bicycle obsession in
me.
While I couldn't see those things in the mirror, Your faults at the time were obvious to me,
But the more I praise Jesus as my Lord and my healer,
The less I focus on your sin and so Jesus heals the sin in me.
So, after all, I can confidently say - I'm so grateful:
For you, for your lack of love, for our broken marriage, and all the pain,
For God's gift of breaking my heart and making me even more faithful,
For ridding me of myself, my expectations, and making my heart pure again.
Wearing your Christian mask, you said your goal was to lead me closer to Jesus.
I'm not sure about LEADING, but PUSHING - yes.
So as our divorce trial is approaching in June to free us,
You surely succeeded in that one goal, I do confess.
My relationship with you did not work out, But my relationship with Christ from this
pain only grew.
And as I've learned to forgive and accept YOU, without a doubt,
JESUS drew me closer to Himself, as if you just always knew.
So, thank you for this devastating marriage experience.
Thank you for pushing me with all the pain into God's loving arms.
Thank you for my feelings of love and loss that are both very serious,
Thank you for revealing to me who you truly are and finally dropping your mask of those
deceiving Christian charms.
Through all the pain you caused, I've learned what UNCONDITIONAL love is,
And also how I did not initially give it to you,
And how now I'm able to feel the love for you beyond your deceiving make-believe bliss,
And through the haze of the devastating marriage, my appreciation for God's endless grace only
grew.
