I started my own V LIVE broadcast a year ago.

To celebrate it's been a year, I started broadcasting.

Today, I'll talk about several things.

OK, it's almost 3 minutes.

First V LIVE in the new year. I tried to broadcast

but I didn't find time and I couldn't start.

I tried over and over, and finally started today.

What a coincidence! I started V LIVE a year ago around this time.

"Because all of this is not coincidence".

I guess everything falls into its proper place for BTS.

I guess an alarm message has been sent. A lot of you are joining.

All right. Give me 1 more minute.

OK, this is a new year's live broadcast.

I'd like to talk about how we've been and what has happened to us.

I had many topics a few days ago.

Now I can't remember many.

I thought you would wonder what was going on behind the scene.

Finally, the year 2018 has come.

It's the Year of the golden Dog. The Chinese zodiac sign of me and Hoseok.

Those who were born in 1994 turned 25 in the Korean age.

Under the Korean age rule, we get older when a year passes.

But in other countries, I am 23 since it's before my birthday.

But I'm 25 in Korea.

I need to accept that.

I'm 25 now.

So, I visited my parents on the New Year's day.

I watched a movie.

I also visited the Ilsan Lake Park.

"I the Ilsan Lake Park more than the Han River". A light festival was held.

It was my first time to visit such a festival.

I took a lot of pictures and had a great time.

Usually, BTS has the first meal together on the New Year's day.

I got this from Taehyung. Saying "now" in every sentence.

No? When did I start using this?

I guess we do things similar to each other as we live together.

When the MBC Korean Music Festival was over,

after we rang the Bosingak Bell and performed on the stage,

I wanted to stay in Ilsan to be with my family on the New Year's day.

So we talked about whether to stay here or go to Gangnam.

Others wanted to go to Gangnam and suggested having dinner there.

I wanted to stay in Ilsan. We had discussion over the issue

but we had to go to a barbecue place since we couldn't find a proper one.

We also drank together at the barbecue restaurant,

looking back on the past year and appreciated what went well.

We didn't talk about heavy stuffs. We didn't.

We just looked back on the past year while enjoying Korean barbecue.

We ate beef after the MBC Korean Music Festival on January 1.

We enjoyed the barbecue until 4 or 5 AM.

When I drink beer, I feel so hungry and keep eating beef.

We had sirloin and beef ribs.

Beef ribs, Bean Paste Stew... What else? Cold Noodles.

I had a lot.

Others lost appetite

but I had a lot of appetite.

Anyways, we tried to spend the first day of a new year among us.

We enjoyed a meal together and had a great time.

It's not easy to gather together.

It's not easy to hang out personally.

It was the gathering to look back on the past year.

In fact, we wanted to go to a karaoke room.

You know, our favorite song in the karaoke.

We wanted to sing together but we were too tired.

So we didn't.

We decided to go to a karaoke room later.

I am good at singing and entertaining at karaoke.

I'm the life of the party. I go crazy.

It's OK if you're not a good dancer at the karaoke. So I dance like crazy.

I guess you have seen it on "Run BTS". Anyways, I know how to have fun there.

We planned to go to karaoke later.

What should I talk?

Fall Out Boy's "Champion".

I got a call from my friend. He said BTS was on "Infinite Challenge".

He said he was watching the show and my voice was heard.

I watched the show and found our dance video was played.

I was grateful.

Collaboration with Fall Out Boy... I don't know how it happened.

I don't know how it started but they contacted our agency.

I think they've heard "Change" that I worked with Wale.

Because the lyrics from "Change" is related to those of "Champion".

I guess they've heard "Change" from somewhere.

Fall Out Boy's agency or members.

So they talked about the song to remix

and asked me to rap for the song.

They pointed out me, as a featuring rapper on the song.

I was honored. Because Fall Out Boy is so famous!

It's a famous rock band. Everybody knows their song "Centuries".

"The Phoenix," too.

So...

I liked their songs.

I'm not a fan of rock, but I enjoy rock bands' songs.

I had a lot of fun from the collaboration.

The lyrics are about the champion for those who couldn't be a champion.

I loved the cynical but hopeful lyrics.

So I wrote down the rap part here, like "Champion..."

There are a lot of talks about collaboration.

It's not just about me. Other members have their own.

If all the collaboration projects go well,

I mean, when we have the track, the final result.

Please look forward to our collaboration projects.

I want to collaborate for many songs.

Just some explanation.

We performed on many year-end shows.

Starting with MAMA, Melon, SBS, MBC and KBS. A lot of fun.

We had a great time.

Oh, right.

I suggested wearing suits for "MIC Drop".

Please give me kudos.

I watched some foreign artists' performances wearing suits.

I thought it would be amazing if we perform "MIC Drop" wearing suits.

When the song came out, I thought about that.

When we were asked about the awards ceremony,

I said we should wear suits for "MIC Drop". Others like that.

I don't know where our agency had that idea, but I asked for it.

I'm so proud that the performance looked nice.

I watch our performance of "MIC Drop" from time to time. It's nice.

I'm bragging.

I'm just rambling.

The song I played was "Honey Tea" by OOHYO.

Honey tea is delicious.

It's coffee. But our water purifier doesn't produce honey tea itself.

I like tea made of Acacia honey. But I need to buy it from cafes.

I don't have it very often but I sometimes drink it.

"Honey Tea" is good, too.

Just...

I might not look great because I practiced before doing this.

Some members are recording now.

They're now recording now, I guess.

What else... to talk about?

The WINGS tour was over.

I can't believe it still. It's hard to believe.

The WINGS tour is over now.

Anyways... Surprised.

The heating system is not working well here. So I use this.

It's not working because the carpet is on the floor.

Now it's working.

Without it, I'm going to be frozen. I'm covering myself up with a blanket.

I'm using a big blanket here.

I guess it's hard to fix the heating system.

I watched a movie.

Suddenly.

I've watched a lot of movies. I like to watch movies.

"Along With the Gods," and "1984". Oh, "1987".

"1984" is a novel by George Orwell. "1987".

And I watched "The Greatest Showman". Finally.

Conclusion. I cried while watching these 3 movies.

When I watched "Along With the Gods," I watched it on the 2nd floor.

My seat was too far away from the screen but I cried my eyes out.

Really...

The lead actor Taehyun and others...

It was so sad.

The movie was so touching and sad.

I cried my eyes out.

Some scenes of "1987" were sad, too.

A specific scene in "1987" was so sad.

Anyways, I liked "1987," too.

I loved the theme song "This Is Me" of "The Greatest Showman".

I'm not sure whether it's the correct title. I guess so.

"This Is Me". I heard that's the main theme song.

In the scene when the song plays,

the aerialist lady looked at Zac Efron,

started singing "This Is Me".

It was so touching.

I didn't cry in the past when watching movies.

Because of the season? I don't know. I was so touched by that scene.

She looked at the actor singing "This Is Me".

Her eyes said like this is me.

Other songs were great. But I loved that song.

It was so amazing.

A lot of great movies are now on show. It's worth watching one.

I've gone through all the topics that I picked.

In less than 20 minutes.

As I'm not directly involved, I can't talk about much

but I've heard Hope's mix tape tracks.

I was surprised.

Those were tracks before mixing.

I've heard some.

When I think about Hope, these two scenes always come into my mind.

In the beginning, Hope was...

I talked about it several times. He was wearing a grey padded coat and a strange beanie hat.

He was sitting in front of a big TV at the dorm.

Everything at the dorm was strange to him, I guess.

However, later when he came to the dance studio,

He danced to the song and it shocked everyone.

We had never seen such a great dancer.

Everyone gasped and got amazed by his dance.

When he started rapping first,

Hope knew nothing about rap.

I talked about this several times.

Did he covered the track "Solo" by Dynamic Duo?

It was covering or he added his new lyrics to "Solo".

No, he didn't write the lyrics. He covered the song.

He choreographed himself.

Since he's a great dancer, with another trainee back then,

they practiced "Solo" covering roles of Gaeko and Choija.

We had the monthly evaluation. Something like that.

Hope did that in the monthly evaluation.

Hope who had never rapped before.

When I think about Hope from the 3rd episode, it feels like...

I've checked out his several mix tapes and it reminded me of the past.

When was it? I guess it was early 2011.

7 years ago.

I felt now he became a great rapper who can create this masterpiece.

Before then, I couldn't hear Hope's tracks...

We don't let others hear our tracks in the middle.

It feels a bit... embarrassing.

We'd like to play it when it's complete. Suga and me, both.

Jungkook started producing lately so he plays his works to me, though.

it feels like he contributed the whole year to these tracks.

I wanted to hear his other tracks, too.

I was surprised.

I don't know whether it comes out or not.

I thought his tracks were great ones, art pieces.

I was saying that you should definitely stay tuned for J-Hope's mixed tapes.

I cannot say when the track will come out.

It will be awesome. I can guarantee.

I was surprised and everybody would be surprised.

When we practiced dance, he rubbed his behind

and said "It hurt a lot!"

I just gave a chair.

He asked me to give that chair and I gave the one to him.

Because I bought this chair.

I left that chair over there. To use it later.

But Suga insisted he would use it.

So I said, "Take it, bro". It wasn't a bad chair.

So I gave the chair and he fell off the chair while trying to sit.

He didn't blame me.

But he made me feel sorry.

I should've bought a better one. So that you wouldn't fell off the chair.

Right, fan meeting. We're preparing one now.

That's why I practiced at the dance studio.

We're gonna be doing something totally different than I've ever done before and to be honest

I don't think anyone has ever done this on YouTube, so hopefully we can't be the first

But essentially I'm gonna hop into a two versus two

Friendly battle and all four players involved are only going to be using building decks now

There is one exception, and I said people can use the mirror if they want the mirror is technically a spell

But they're gonna be mirroring a building so overall the main goal is to fill up the entire arena with buildings

I don't know if anyone's actually going to win this so this may be awesome

Or who knows it's probably just gonna end in a massive failure

But regardless of the results hopefully this makes for an entertaining video now if you go to enjoy this video

I'm gonna stick another cannon down. There's a lot of stuff over there. I guess we're just gonna continue spamming everything

There's no way we're actually going to finish this battle. It's just gonna end in a six minute draw, but maybe this is awesome

I may have to do a second battle in this video

We're only half the people at buildings, and then the other half have to push that may be awesome

But for now we're gonna try our best to actually get to this tower. Hopefully this mortar can't speak a shot off

They have an expo it may actually do well look at all the crap. They have right now

This is probably one of the craziest battles. I've ever witnessed once two times elixir comes though keep in mind

We're gonna have both halves of the arena absolutely filled up with buildings, and it's just gonna look so funny now

I'm thinking we need defensive buildings. Actually they may get some hits all soon

I'm gonna stick a bomb tower down just

Because it has the most hit points in the game at least I think it does for building so right here

We have the bomb tower down

That's helping out, but their expo and cannon is actually doing really well

So hopefully our cannon can help out take care of that mortar and right now

We're we're definitely on the lower

end of this cheeseburger

And I we need to get some more buildings down ASAP because if you're looking up top they have two furnaces

Plus they have tombstones, and I'm sure they're building up for a massive push on top of that

I think our only way to win. This is to like push the other side that Expo is about to get absolutely wrecked

I'm thinking about putting a mortar down rate that hopefully it goes down in time

We really need more buildings for this right side because right now this isn't gonna. Go well. We may actually lose this battle

They are getting through look at their line of defense right now. They have mortar Expo and bomb tower

They haven't got any hits off on our tower yet, but they've been pretty close a few times. This is gonna be crazy

I didn't even realize this, but it is two times elixir. Oh my god. I'm pretty sure we are done

I need to keep on cycling buildings because they are actually getting very close to our towers

I'm thinking about putting a cannon down, but unfortunately that Tesla was just gonna blast it

I feel like they just have way more buildings than us. I don't know if they're doing better or what I mean

But three minutes has passed already this battle really isn't going anywhere

HONEST: Why Gurus Sell Courses & Reveal "Secrets" on How to Make Money - Duration: 13:15.

Hey, guys.

So today, I want to have an honest discussion with you about something that I know a lot

of people wonder about.

Why do gurus or experts make YouTube videos and sell courses teaching other people how

to make money online?

If it's so profitable dropshipping, why would you teach anyone else how to do it?

And if you can make tens of thousands of dollars a month selling on Amazon, then why would

you show anyone your secrets?

I hear this all the time.

"If I knew how to make $10,000 a month selling on Amazon then I sure as heck would not be

selling how to do it in a $67 a month course."

And something else people understandably worry about is saturation.

If channels like mine go around teaching people how to set up dropshipping stores, won't that

create a flood of competitors copying what I teach, saturating the market, and making

the business unviable?

And look, I understand, because when I first entered this industry, I had friends look

at me and ask me, "Sarah, what do you do?

I want to have your lifestyle too."

And I'd shy away from answering them.

Why?

Well, because I was afraid they were gonna come on in and steal my business away from

me.

But I was actually wrong and it was only later, once I became more established, that I realized

two things.

One, saturation is not a problem and it's not something that we need to be worried about.

But two, income diversification is a problem and it is something that we need to be worried

about.

So there we go.

I've already gone ahead and spoiled the video for you.

That is your answer.

But you probably want more of an explanation so let's jump straight into the video.

Why saturation isn't a problem.

So I'm gonna preface this video that I'm only talking about the two types of business models

that I teach here at Wholesale Ted and that is private labeling on Amazon and dropshipping

in your own store like a Shopify store.

And I wanted to note that because not all business models are above the problem of saturation.

I have personally witnessed more than one online business model become saturated due

to a flood of competitors.

For example, one business model is AliExpress dropshipping on Amazon.

A question people ask quite a lot on this channel is whether it is okay to do AliExpress

dropshipping in an eBay or Amazon store and the answer is no.

No, no, no, no, no.

Do not dropship from China on eBay or Amazon because not only are you gonna get bad feedback,

which is going to get your account banned, but because that market is 100% saturated.

Take Amazon.

On there, you can't even dropship from AliExpress because people are actually buying the products

and shipping them into the FBA warehouses.

Take the self-stir mug, a staple example here at Wholesale Ted.

On Amazon, it's selling for $7.99 with free Prime shipping because competition has massively

driven the price down.

After Amazon's fees of $5.30, the FBA sellers for this mug are only left with $2.70, yet

it costs $6.65 to purchase and ship it to the USA from AliExpress sellers.

So the people selling it are losing money when they sell it on Amazon.

So no, do not try to do AliExpress dropshipping on eBay or Amazon.

That is completely saturated.

But dropshipping in your own Shopify store, no, that is not saturated.

Or private labeling on Amazon, no, that is not saturated.

Even with YouTube channels like mine teaching people how to get started, there is still

tons of room out there for new sellers and I think that there probably always will be.

Why?

Well, it is for two reasons.

One, the barrier to entry is much higher.

Anyone can go and take an AliExpress product and slap it onto Amazon but manufacturing

and shipping your own products into Amazon, well, that is a lot more work.

But going out there and manufacturing your own products and shipping them into Amazon,

well, that is a lot more work and requires a much higher upfront investment.

Or take dropshipping in your own Shopify store.

Setting up that store and running tests for products is a lot more work than slapping

a product on Amazon.

Recently here at Wholesale Ted, we released our premium step-by-step video training course

called the Dropship Club.

It is a step-by-step video training course that teaches you how to create a dropshipping

store from start to finish.

And guess what?

There are over 30 videos inside of it which means that there are over 30 tasks that you

need to do to set up your own store.

And actually, there are a lot more than 30 tasks because of the fact that some of these

tasks, you're going to have to complete multiple times.

For example, one of the videos teaches you our methods for setting up Facebook ads.

In that, I use one product as an example.

Now, the video shows you how to do it for one product but you're going to need to go

ahead and do that for all of the products that you are testing.

Now, some of you may look at this as a bad thing.

You may think, "Oh darn.

I just wanted a free money tree where I didn't have to do any work.

I guess I'll go elsewhere."

And you know what?

You are more than welcome to.

But for everybody else out there that wants to build an actual business, then you should

be happy that this barrier is going to stop most people.

Realistically, as course creators, we are aware of this.

You might find that cynical but the fact of the matter is it isn't.

Consider how many books you bought with the intention of finishing and then didn't.

The authors of the book aren't stupid.

They are realistic.

They know that most people who start the book are not going to finish it.

Of course, they do their best to try to write it in a way so that it captures the attention

of as many readers as possible.

But even the most successful books only have a fraction of their readers finish it.

If Stephen King said, "Nope, I'm not gonna publish this book because most people who

start it are not going to finish it," well, that would be pretty sad for those that did

read it, did love it, and did actually finish it.

The same applies to those of us out there that create courses that teach these business

models.

We do our best to make them as fun and simple and easy to follow as possible, but realistically,

we know that most people are not gonna follow through and that is okay because for those

of you out there that do do that, you can create a business that can transform your

life and that makes it more than worth it.

People are busy.

They come home from school or work tired.

They want to build a business, but unfortunately, life just gets in the way and that's okay.

I don't judge anyone.

Life can be hard sometimes.

But here is something.

Even if the numbers of people that followed through with these courses suddenly quadrupled,

it still wouldn't matter because two, Amazon and Facebook are growing at an insane rate.

Consider this.

The last earnings report from Amazon revealed that they have increased their revenue by

42% and that amounts to tens of billions of dollars.

And consider this.

In the past year, Facebook has acquired hundreds of millions of users.

Every month, more buyers flood Amazon and every month, Facebook adds millions of users

to their database.

When you combine the insane growth of these platforms along with the barrier to entry,

you realize that saturation is not a problem at all.

But there is something to keep in mind.

While the opportunities to sell on these platforms increases at a much higher rate than new sellers

or advertisers, the opportunities to sell generic products or products that don't require

much creativity like the spatula no longer exist.

In the beginning when nobody was private labeling on Amazon, you could manufacture and produce

generic products like a spatula and make a killing.

But that is now no longer the case.

While the opportunities to sell products grow every day, this only applies to niche products

so don't start an Amazon or dropshipping business hoping to sell generic products.

Make sure you focus on selling niche items.

Unfortunately, most people aren't creative.

They just try to copy and sell what other people are doing and sadly, those people won't

succeed.

But if you focus upon finding niche markets, then you will.

So saturation isn't a real problem but something else is.

Why diversification is key.

As I've said before on this channel, I set up my first successful online store when I

was 16 and honestly, I wasn't dropshipping at that point.

I was probably not smart enough to be able to figure out what that was but I was lucky

enough to stumble upon a lucrative opportunity.

I would buy Nintendo DS games, which are video games from the USA, and then I would resell

them in my home country of New Zealand.

In the USA, a game might cost $20 but back home in New Zealand, I could sell it for $50,

$60.

Even after the exchange rate, the profit difference was huge so I started importing these games

in mass from the USA and reselling them back home.

And it was super profitable and as a 16, 17-year-old making bank, I got really, really lazy and

I paid a hefty price for it.

Because a few years later, Nintendo announced that they were no longer gonna keep making

Nintendo DS games and systems.

Instead, they were gonna replace them with this, a Nintendo 3DS.

For those of you out there that don't know much about video games, you might think these

don't sound very different, but trust me, they are.

And Nintendo announced something else.

They're gonna be introducing something with the new 3DS called region locking.

What that meant was that if I bought a 3DS game like this one here in the USA, that I

could not play it on a 3DS system made for New Zealanders.

In other words, Nintendo made it that if you bought your 3DS in New Zealand, that you had

to buy New Zealand 3DS games as well.

Whomp, whomp.

Just like that.

Just like that, my business was destroyed overnight.

And because I hadn't diversified or reinvested my money, I was kind of screwed.

It set me back a couple of years.

I had to go out there and learn how to source products in different ways using wholesalers

and dropshippers, which changed everything.

But guess what?

I should've already been doing that earlier on in my career because I should've been looking

for ways to diversify the way that I was getting my products.

I have never, ever forgotten the lesson of the importance of diversification.

And for me, it was the biggest reason why I started this YouTube channel and I'm sure

it's probably a big reason why most course creators and affiliates and YouTubers start

their own ones as well.

It's because they've already got a successful business and they want to find other ways

to diversify their income and business portfolios.

And because of the fact that we know that there's tons of room for new sellers when

you combine exponential growth with barrier to entry, we aren't afraid of creating some

new competitors.

So teaching it is a really fun way to diversify what we do since, well, I can't talk for other

YouTubers or course creators out there but I absolutely love talking about dropshipping

and Amazon.

The honest truth is something that I have learned is that you never know what's gonna

happen in the future so diversifying is a really smart thing to do.

For me now, because of this channel, I have skills in video creation, creating YouTube

channels, growing them, affiliate marketing, email marketing, and things like that.

And the funny thing is that those skills have crossed back into Amazon and dropshipping

as well.

Something to keep in mind though is that for most of you out there starting your first

online business, diversification is a luxury that you probably, unfortunately, can't afford

to have.

Instead, you should probably pick just one business model and get really, really good

at it.

Once you're really, really good at it, you can then look to diversify your investment

and business portfolio but that is something to think about in the future.

And you know, there's actually a third bonus reason why I teach others and I suspect other

experts and "gurus" out there are doing it as well.

You guys make teaching fun.

It may be cliché but it's absolutely true.

I absolutely love this channel.

I love the community that we've built here at Wholesale Ted and I love making videos

for you guys.

Every day, I get tons of really lovely comments, comments from people telling me that they

really enjoy the videos, comments from people thanking me for the information I've shared,

comments from people telling me that I've helped them, and comments from people telling

I'm not some sort of a robot.

There are lots of other businesses that I could've diversified into and this isn't the

know that there's lots of room out there for new sellers and we just really love doing

President Trump tends to get heat from the left no matter what he does.

If he's working, he's doing something they don't like, and if he's celebrating,

he's probably offending someone who doesn't like the holiday.

Unfortunately for the haters though, he's in office and no matter how hard they try,

it doesn't look like they'll be able to do anything about it.

The President seems to get an especially large amount of grief for visiting his own home

in Florida when time permits.

His visit to his own estates in at Mar-a-Lago should serve as a reminder that the President

isn't taking any money out of America's pockets, he's self-sufficient, and only

working in his current position to serve Americans.

That seems to be exactly what Florida supporters were thinking of when they rallied on the

streets in anticipation of the President's arrival.

The streets where the President was traveling were flanked by loving supporters who wanted

to let the President know that despite his many enemies, he has many supporters as well.Their

gesture didn't go unnoticed either.

The supporters were out en masse, holding signs supporting the President's pet projects,

whipping up support for him when the President himself saw them.

What they expected would just end up being a wave and a nod to show acknowledgment of

their moral support ended up being a lot more.

After the President made it to his "Winter White House," and before he started celebrating:

The Palm Beach Post reports that about 20 minutes after the motorcade passed, two white

vans returned and a man emerged with an invitation for the supporters to meet the president.

About 20 minutes after President Trump's motorcade passed over of the Southern bridge

on its way back to Mar-a-Lago after golf on Saturday, a white van stopped near a group

of supporters.

A man stepped out with an invitation that stunned the devoted sign-waiving crowd.

The president would like to meet with you at Mar-a-Lago.

'It stunned me,' said Mike Sims, of West Palm Beach.

'I didn't know what to think.'

Sixteen supporters piled into two white vans for a short drive across the bridge to the

president's private club.

No one expected the 90-minute visit to the president's "Winter White House."

'I was wearing baggy pants,' bemoaned one supporter of the sudden invite — and

the photo she had taken with Trump.

The group went through the usual security sweep by the Secret Service and then met with

the president, who was still in his golf clothes and shoes.

He shook hands with the group near the pool and posed with each for photos.

A White House photographer also shot pictures.

The president gave a short history of Mar-a-Lago, built in the 1920's by cereal heiress Marjorie

Merriweather Post and gave each a magazine about the estate.

Trump bought the dilapidated estate in 1985 and restored it.

In 1995 he opened Mar-a-Lago as a private club, which now has about 500 members.

Today, Mar-a-Lago has a spa, tennis courts, two pools, putting greens, several dining

areas and bedrooms that are available only to members and their guests.

After the meet, greet and photo op, Trump asked his aides to show the group into his

living room to see the Christmas tree, and outside, to view the helicopter.

They were then invited into the ballroom for snacks: meatballs, watermelon, pigs in a blanket,

spring rolls, thick chocolate chip cookies, iced tea and water.

Sims especially liked the water.

'It was a regular water bottle except it didn't say Zephyrhills, it said Trump,'

said Sims, who grabbed one as a souvenier [sic].

'It was just a fabulous experience.

I will never forget it.'

Saturday's impromptu visit was not the first.

On March 18, seven Trump supporters who cheered the president as his motorcade passed were

also invited to the estate.

A day later, on his way out of town, the president stopped his motorcade and got out of his armored

SUV to swiftly greet supporters.

Donald Tarca Jr. of Boynton Beach said the group was invited "not because we are famous

or big donors but because we are members of a group called 'The Trump Squad,' a group

of supporters who faithfully gather at the west end of the Southern Boulevard bridge

to greet the president.

Our motto is 'See you at the bridge!''

Tarca was at the bridge again on Sunday afternoon, waiting with the rest of the squad for the

president to return from his golf club in West Palm Beach.

'It was such an honor — a day to all us deplorables we will never forget,' Tarca

said.

'We the people do matter.'"

Many people considered President Trump's predecessor to be unqualified for the office

of President because his citizenship was doubtful, however, what we should have been worried

about the qualification of loving America.

Obama made it clear time and again that he had disdain for American values and the people

that held them.

President Trump couldn't be any more different, and he demonstrates it at times like this.

Americans once again have a President that they can be proud of, because he is proud

of us, and that's how it should be.

We watched some performances several times and exchanged presents with friends.

Everybody likes to get presents.

no matter how old they are.

Everyone, of any age, likes to get gifts.

A friend of Yuri's mom lent us some additional pastry cutters.

Yuri's mom bought more flour and we baked cookies.

Elephants, dogs, cats, crocodiles, butterflies, hares, monkeys, horses and giraffes.

We fed squirrels in the forest.

I love walking in the forest and barking at squirrels.

Woof woof!

We picked up fir cones in the forest.

Squirrels in the forest?!

We put our cookies with frosting into the lovely boxes.

We also folded the kitchen towels carefully.

We also added some ornaments.

Everybody will get such fabulous presents from our family.

Hmm!

Maybe we will stay at home and keep everything for ourselves?

I thought about it, but in this case we won't get gifts from others,

so that is not a good idea.

We packed every gift in a piece of paper and decorated them with natural cozy stuff

such as twigs, fir cones…

branches of fir, slices of lemon,

mandarin peel, knitted and paper snowflakes.

By the way, we asked Yuri's granny to knit the snowflakes.

She did it great!

We are in a festive and holiday mood.

Yuri got a present from the company where his daddy works.

We watched some performances several times and exchanged presents with friends.

Everybody likes to get presents.

no matter how old they are.

Everyone, of any age, likes to get gifts.

A friend of Yuri's mom lent us some additional pastry cutters.

Yuri's mom bought more flour and we baked cookies.

Elephants, dogs, cats, crocodiles, butterflies, hares, monkeys, horses and giraffes.

We fed squirrels in the forest.

I love walking in the forest and barking at squirrels.

Woof woof!

We picked up fir cones in the forest.

Squirrels in the forest?!

Squirrels in the forest?!

Woof, woof!

We put our cookies with frosting into the lovely boxes.

We also folded the kitchen towels carefully.

We also added some ornaments.

Everybody will get such fabulous presents from our family.

Hmm!

Maybe we will stay at home and keep everything for ourselves?

I thought about it, but in this case we won't get gifts from others,

so that is not a good idea.

We packed every gift in a piece of paper and decorated them with natural cozy stuff

such as twigs, fir cones…

branches of fir, slices of lemon,

mandarin peel, knitted and paper snowflakes.

By the way, we asked Yuri's granny to knit the snowflakes.

She did it great!

We are in a festive and holiday mood.

Why Japanese Love to Bathe - Duration: 11:39.

I remember the first time I heard about Japanese onsen

Alright, what's the onsen?

Okay, onsen means hot spring and people bathing in one look like this.

But there's also sento which is a public bathing facility people bathing in one look like this

Yeah, unless you know where the water is coming from they can look exactly the same

the main difference is that onsen use natural spring water whereas cento use heated tap water

But as always

Osaka sometimes does it different and onsen can be cento, so read the fine print if you really want to know more

But back to my story about how I first heard about onsen.

In my youth when I used to work summers as a painter

My coworker told me about his trip to Japan with his Japanese girlfriend

I was quite surprised to hear they visited a mixed bathing facility. Where yes they were both naked

I know certain Europeans, just love to flaunt their nudity

But as a Canadian, this felt all sorts of wrong, just so you don't get the wrong idea

Nowadays most Japanese public bathing is done with the same gender

But still I thought how could bathing naked with a bunch of other dudes be relaxing?

Why do Japanese love bathing?

Well, let me tell you, have you ever read Shogun?

if you have or if you've seen the TV miniseries you totally know

Oh no, no, I don't

(?) make your foul sick

You see, back in the time period this is taking place.

The 1600s, the English used to think bathing might foul your health with bad air

This theory of bad air was called miasma.

And was prevalent during the times of cholera and dangdangdang...

if it were me I believed in the bad air theory too after learning that half my ancestors died during the plague

But having been mostly closed off to the world at this time.

The average Japanese villager would have thought this theory playing crazy

Get out of my way

yes...yes

Sometimes people don't know what's best for them and need to be shown the way despite their kicking and screaming,

But when it's right, It's right

But I've gotten ahead of myself

Bathing in Japan started off so long ago

We're talking about over a thousand years

that historians don't have conclusive reasons for how it got started

A simple explanation can be that since Japan is a volcanic island and is chock full of natural Hot Springs

Was bound to happen that people would want to get naked and jump in

Most history texts I've read posit the start of onsen culture in Japan

was associated with Buddhist temples and religious bathing

Bathing at a temple was first a thing only for priests

But then it opened up to the sick who could benefit from the healing powers of the natural springs

Which were full of acids and minerals.

Then the rich heard about this and thought:

Hey, I'm going to build one just for me because why share?

by the 1600s also known as the beginning of the edo period

Two types of commercial bathing were popular in Japan.

In the East, think Tokyo

which is formally called Edo, hence the name of the era.

there were bath houses with pools of water called Yuya

Which literally means hot water shop.

In the West, think Osaka.

Bathing was more about the steam and called mushi Bulo,

which literally means steam baths

Is this usual?

I mean...

For you to be...to be...

-To be sharing a bath? -emm

In 1869, at the start of the Meiji period.

Laws were put in place to separate bathing by gender

In Japan,

We have no shame of our body

Everything is natural and normal

And because there is so many of us

That is also necessary

Apparently, the American commander Commodore Perry thought that doing so wasn't moral,

and then the Japanese government was like...

oh no! Let's stop this,

then some japanese proprietors says, you want me to build a whole new bath house just to separate the people?

How about I put this small board here to divide it?

That didn't all stop the peeping Tanaka's

Other operators came up with a simple idea of

only allowing in certain genders at spacific times of the day

while others decided to choose sides and specialize in a single gender

Despite the workarounds of bathhouses

Rules weren't always followed.

This must be a huge shock for those who know the propensity of the Japanese to follow rules

Someday you will understand

I'm sure

Someday you'll understand

But to tell the truth, varying laws have attempted to curtail kon-yoku, which is mixed bathing

Since way before the Meiji period and all the way up until after World War two

The latest laws on the books prohibit mixed gender bathing.

Though, there's an exception for young kids

Interestingly

Mixed gender bathing is still allowed today

as places that allowed it before the laws were put into place or grandfathered in

By the time we hit the 1970s we reach peak bathhouses

Population was booming and the economy as well

But as Japan recovered and became an economic superpower

bathtubs became the standard in new homes and bath houses weren't as needed on a regular basis

So now that there's virtually no immediate need to bathe outside the home.

Why is communal bathing still a very popular activity in Japan?

If you've ever seen japanese dramas, animes or TV shows, you've probably witnessed a group bathing scene

Bathing to relax is probably the easiest way to explain why the Japanese love going to public baths

unlike previous iterations of bath houses

Modern ones have become increasingly like spas

Take the super sento as an example

Which roughly translates into super public bathhouse.

Beyond the bathing and steam room facilities,

you can get massages, body scrubs, relaxation rooms and food

Then there's theme park onsen

Oedo onsen, offers up an old-school summer festival like atmosphere

of a bygone Tokyo ones Edo

kids can play games

adults drink in the bar

and couples stroll in the outdoor foot baths

and everyone can do it wearing a yukata

And then, there's the more classic ryokan experience, ryokan meaning traditional japanese inn

There you often stay overnight in a tatami room

and some even bring your meals to the room for the ultimate in room service

Beyond the hot springs they can support recreational facilities like ping pong, karaoke and swimming

In Japan clean is beautiful

Really, the ki lii kanji means clean, beautiful, pretty, and pure all at once

This is also why toilets, for the most part are separated from bathing areas

It's also why you take off your shoes before entering a home, and it's also why you'd wash yourself before entering the bath

I will wash my body and go there

-How does it feel, Shin-chan? -Good

Good

Because clean is beautiful

Something I didn't quite believe at first was the healing powers of the hot springs

Japan has had many scientists studying their properties over the years

Depending on which mix of acid or minerals you go with,

it can treat constipation

menstrual pain, diabetes, aching muscles, rheumatism and other funny elements

While I haven't used onsen to specifically cure anything

I can vouch for the fact that some do give you ultra-smooth skin, if only it wasn't a temporary change

Bathing to be the same

in Japanese there's a term called "Hidaka Natsuki I", are naked association

It's the feeling that naked in an onsen all are equal

Whether you're a high-flying CEO or pilot or a lowly youtuber.

Without our uniforms, there's no way to tell who's who

This is closely related to a pseudo English Japanese word "skinship"

It describes intimacy between mother and child

Now it has a broader meaning of bonding through physical contact

Whether it be hugging or bathing with children

When my children were born,

the hospital in Canada encouraged me to go skin-to-skin with my babies

so I think this skinship thing is not an entirely foreign concept to the West

Although I think we started practicing it a bit... just a little bit sooner than the Japanese

All things aside

Cost maybe another simple answer for why Japanese love to bathe so much

When you think about going to therapeutic baths in Canada.

If you can find one you can easily spend over $50

There's a public pool. Type of hot springs,

but it's not at all close to the cento or onsen experience you can get in Japan

I don't think my young self would have ever thought this,

but wearing a bathing suit in the hot spring? gross!

Hey, if you've ever tried going naked in a hot spring in Japan

and then prefer the hot springs in Canada with a bathing suit

Please let me know, I'd be surprised but curious to know why

In Japan you can usually get into a public bath for under ten dollars

Although if it's a fancy or themed one, the price could be double or triple

Take the hot spring town we visited. We paid sixteen hundred yen for a pass to see three of the top ones there

Food is also generally not spa priced

But you can get a decent meal for under $10

so really, you can get dinner and a hot spring at your local "Super Cento" for under $20

Perhaps the real reason Japanese love bathing is the natural animal instinct to do so
