come to our favorite Star Wars technology.

Today we will find out how close we can get to healing in a Bacta tank and getting frozen

in Carbonite.

Hopefully without an extended stay in Jabba's Palace.

You get hurt in Star Wars, you get a vacation in the Bacta tank while science heals your

body.

And guess what, that's starting to really happen.

On a decidedly much smaller scale.

You looks strong enough to pull the ears off a Gundark.

Science is working towards enhancing and advancing our ability to heal.

Doctors can now use artificial skin to protect and regrow damaged areas.

Or, lets say you get involved in a Wampa attack…

(Wampa roar) Scientists are now working on ways to use

certain types of skin bacteria to speed recovery.

It's even possible one day we could have a Bacta tank filled with bacteria.

A sort of…Bacta-teria-tank!

I'm sorry.

Scientists at Cedar Sinai in Los Angeles have also discovered a way to use tiny bubbles

filled with genetic material to speed up bone healing.

And if you think being frozen in Carbonite is bad…well it is.

I can't see.

New techniques are using extremely cold temperatures to help accelerate healing.

And these aren't the only exciting developments happening in the world of medicine.

Some new discoveries feel like they're still science fiction.

IBM scientists are developing what they're calling lab on a chip technology that could

make it faster and easier for doctors to diagnose diseases.

This technology allows us to isolate biomarkers relevant to a number of diseases.

What this enables us to do is get out ahead of a disease.

If you have the technology that's convenient enough, you can test daily, you can test weekly,

so that you can get results immediately instead of having to wait.

So right now you're probably thinking, Anthony these are medical marvels that will change

our lives forever BUT I WAS PROMISED I WOULD GET TO SEE YOU TRAPPED IN CARBONITE.

This is sodium polyachlorade.

It's a polymer, so just chains of the same molecule essentially, right?

Exactly it's repeating polyacrylate compounds together.

So why don't you add some water and see what happens.

So sodium polyacrylate is a super absorber.

It will absorb 200-300 times it's own mass in water.

So it's like the stuff that's inside diapers and freezer packs?

Yeah, there are 1,000 uses for this stuff including Carbonite today.

Give it a stir and see what happens.

How to Learn While You Sleep - Duration: 5:21.

[INTRO ♪]

We've probably all done this at some point in our lives:

it's the night before a big exam, and … you haven't started studying yet.

You'll just have to cram as much information as possible into your brain

in one night and hope you remember it tomorrow.

Wouldn't it be nice if you could just go to sleep,

have a recording of everything you need to know playing in the background,

and wake up ready for the test?

Unfortunately for those of us who are chronic procrastinators,

that doesn't work.

You can't learn new information while you sleep.

But it turns out that you can boost your recall of what you studied while you were awake.

The idea that you can learn totally new information while you sleep

has been debunked for a long time.

Way back in 1955, researchers showed pretty conclusively that it doesn't work.

Earlier studies had suggested that people could learn new things

just by hearing them in their sleep,

but there were problems with the methods used in those studies,

so the team wanted to look into it more closely.

Using an EEG, which measures brain activity,

to monitor how deeply asleep the subjects were,

they found that people were only able to remember the information

played to them if they heard it when they were in the lighter stages of sleep.

The … really, really light stages.

So light, in fact, that the participants were actually mostly awake.

62 years later, that study's conclusions still stand:

there's no good evidence that you can learn totally new information in your sleep.

But scientists have found that there might be a way to boost

the part of the learning process that happens during sleep.

Sleep plays a vital role in how you create and store memories.

While you're awake, you learn all sorts of new stuff,

taking in facts and experiences just from going about your everyday life.

That's when your brain encodes memories,

making new connections between neurons so you can remember it all later.

Then, when you go to sleep,

your brain goes through the consolidation phase of memory formation.

Scientists aren't totally sure how that works,

but they think your brain turns all that stuff you just learned into solid,

long term memories by reactivating them and strengthening those new connections.

And recent research has found that there are ways to kind of hack that process.

In a 2007 study, for example, a group of neuroscientists had people

learn the locations of a bunch of different objects while it smelled like roses,

then made it smell like roses again while they were asleep.

When they woke up, the subjects were better at remembering where the objects were,

compared to when they did the same task without any smells.

The researchers proposed that when the subjects smelled roses while they slept,

that boosted the memory consolidation process

because their brains associated the smell with the memories of the object locations.

Basically, the smell acted as a cue to their brains to reactivate those memories,

strengthening the connections between the neurons that stored them.

And stronger connections meant they had an easier time

recalling the memories when they woke up.

That 2007 study was small, but later studies that tested the idea found similar results.

And other research has found that this works with more than just odor cues.

You can do it with sound, too.

For example, in a study published in The Journal of Neuroscience in 2013,

60 people were asked to place 72 images in different locations on a computer screen.

Each time they placed an item, a corresponding sound was played—

so for example, if they were placing down a picture of a cat, they'd hear a meow.

They were told that remembering each of these items later on

would earn them a certain number of points.

Half of the items had super high point values, and half were super low.

But to get the most points possible,

they had to remember where they placed absolutely everything.

And with 72 items, that wouldn't be easy.

After they'd made their placements, the subjects took a 90 minute nap—

just about enough for one full cycle of sleep.

While the people in the experimental group were sleeping,

they were played 18 of the sounds associated with low value items.

The people in the control group just slept with white noise playing instead.

Once they were wide awake and trying to remember the locations

of as many items as they could for those sweet, sweet science points,

the subjects mostly remembered the ones with high point values.

But the people in the experimental group also tended to remember

the low-value items—the ones they'd been reminded of while they slept.

The researchers concluded that, just like in the studies on odor cues,

the sounds cued the subjects' brains to reactivate the memories associated with them.

That strengthened those memories, so they were better at recalling them later.

And, again like with odor cues,

other studies have also found that sound cues can boost your recall.

For example, in a 2014 study that involved 68 subjects,

a group of researchers found that playing sound cues while people

were asleep helped them learn a new language.

They had people learn 120 new words and their translations,

then played some of those new words back to them while they slept.

The team found that people were able to remember about 10% more

of the cued words than the words they hadn't heard while they were asleep.

But, in a follow-up study published the next year,

the same group of researchers found that if they played the new words

and their translations, the memory boost went away.

So, it wasn't hearing the information while they slept that helped them remember it.

It was the sound they associated with the memory.

When they heard the word and its translation, it became more than a simple sound cue,

and the second word interfered with the memory consolidation process.

So the next time you're cramming for a test,

you might want to try connecting the new information with certain sounds or smells,

then letting yourself hear or smell those things again when you go to sleep.

You still might not do as well as you would have if you'd just studied properly,

but hacking your memory could help you get a few more questions right.

last Sunday, Ricochet & Taguchi lost their IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships

to the debuting Roppongi 3K - meaning Ricochet no longer holds any titles in the major independent

promotions.

After the show, he appeared to cut a farewell promo to fans.

"I just wanted to say thank you coach, thank you for having me at Taguchi Japan, one of

the best groups I've ever been in.

Thank you New Japan, thank you fans, thank you everybody."

Off the back of that, Wrestling News World are reporting Ricochet - who turned 29 yesterday

- will be finishing up dates with New Japan and various independent promotions over the

next few months (like the recently announced 'International Dream Match' against Austin

Aries in Australia), and he'll then be on his way to WWE.

Ricochet is not only the first-ever two-time winner of PWG's Battle of Los Angeles tournament

and the 2014 winner of New Japan's Best of the Super Juniors, he was also the inaugural

Lucha Underground Champion as Prince Puma.

But it's been contract issues with that last promotion that's found him stuck in

legal limbo.

He revealed to Sports Illustrated in July that his Lucha Underground contract actually

finished last June, but he's "on the no-compete for the rest of Lucha Underground's season

three, then…

90 days after that."

Their third season finishes next Wednesday on October 18th, meaning Ricochet can't

wrestle on American TV - like for WWE - until 90 days later, on January 17th, 2018.

The report adds that WWE is also planning on signing Ricochet's real-life girlfriend

Tessa Blanchard.

She wrestled in the Mae Young Classic, where she lost in the first round to eventual winner

Kairi Sane.

Ricochet actually teased a WWE move back in July, tweeting a photo of him and Triple H

from 2005, with the caption 'See ya soon!?'

Unhinged Trump Rants "I Hate Everyone In The White House!" - Duration: 3:18.

Donald Trump loves to tell us that things in the White House are running smoother than

ever.

Everything's great.

It's all sunshine and roses.

General Kelly's doing a phenomenal job.

Tillerson's doing a phenomenal job.

Jeff Sessions' just a heck of a guy.

But as it turns out, according to recent interviews with people inside the White House, Donald

Trump hates them all.

And that's not just me saying that.

That's not me twisting his words.

According to this new report, Donald Trump told his long time security chief, Keith Schiller,

quote, "I hate everyone at the White House.

I hate everyone at the White House."

This came after reports, obviously ... Tillerson calls Trump a moron.

Other Republicans are starting to speak out more and more against Donald Trump.

Aides are trying to reign him in a little bit.

General Kelly is trying to reign him in.

Nobody's letting poor little Donald Trump be Donald Trump and go out and destroy this

country in the way that he wants to, so he is throwing a temper tantrum like a toddler,

screaming, "I hate everyone in the White House."

That is what aides said he has said.

That's not normal behavior.

This isn't something we should just gloss over.

This isn't something that we should just say, "Wow, this guy's really unhinged."

This is actionable material.

Nobody in that White House is playing nice with Donald Trump.

Why?

Because he's unhinged.

Because he's unstable.

Because he can't be trusted.

It's not because Trump surrounded himself with people who just flat out don't like him.

It's because they understand that if he gets his way, things in this country for everyone

are going to get a whole hell of a lot worse.

And that's why they're standing up to him, and that's why he's having such a hard time

these days.

Donald Trump has to be reigned in, and so far, some of these folks in DC are doing a

damn good job of it, I guess, to an extent.

We don't necessarily know some of the crazier things they've prevented him from doing, but

we do know that if he's mad enough to say that he hates them all, then maybe they're

doing a decent enough job.

But this also begs the question as to why they will not invoke the 25th Amendment.

One of the clauses within the 25th Amendment for removing the president states that all

you need is 14 cabinet members to come out and say that the president is unfit in order

to remove him from office.

Mike Pence could be in there, too, so then you'd only need 13 other cabinet members.

If Donald Trump is acting this way, behaving this way, then clearly, there is something

not right going on upstairs.

And I refuse to believe that you can't find 14 people within that White House willing

to come forward and say, "You know what, Mr. Trump?

Your time in this office is over."

one day I look up, and one of the oldest neon signs was off.

I realized I should just do something with it.

I do see the future of the beauty of the city

related with the past, and that past was the neon.

- [Narrator] Cuban artist Kadir López Nieves

is bringing new light and life to the streets of Havana

by restoring the city's neon signs one-by-one

with his project, Havana Light.

Many of these signs have sat abandoned for decades.

- [Kadir] In the '50s and '40s,

there was the renaissance of the neon in Cuba,

thousands of neon all over the city of Havana.

The neon was part of the architecture.

- [Narrator] But in the 1960s, the neon signs

became difficult and expensive to maintain, and slowly

they were taken down or shut off and left to decay.

- [Kadir] Today, the neon is considered

like a piece of art in itself.

The mission is taking the art outside.

People walking in the street, they don't have to be

into the museum to look into a piece of art.

- [Narrator] Over the past three years, Kadir and his team

have restored dozens of signs across the city.

It can be a painstaking process.

- It's no different than fixing an old car.

You take all the elements out and you start

fixing everything that is rusted or damaged.

The most difficult thing is the bending.

It's a skill that very few people have in the world.

So, the most complicated process is taking it down

and lifting it up, 'cause you need a lot of men.

Certain places like Old Havana, you gotta do it

by rope, by hand, because big cars

and cranes, they cannot get in there.

It is phenomenal to see the people's reaction.

In some cases, we see kind of tears in their eyes.

They get so excited about seeing something

that was about to disappear coming back to life.

Neon ...

it means a restoration ...

of hope.

You make people's lives happier.

There's nothing stronger than that.

No matter what kind of voice you have, if your dry or dehydrated its gonna sound weak.

And here's what people don't understand, When you take a drink of water, you're not

lubricating your voice.

Your vocal folds - what actually makes the sound, are basically the last priority within

your bodies hydration.

So all your major organs, your heart, your liver, they get hit up first.

So that means you gotta be fully hydrated, to the gills, for your voice to sound perfect.

This does two things for you: It lets your vocal folds stay limber, so they

city, and all the attempts that he had made to find peace with God through his work in

the monastery were dashed into smithereens with the disillusionment that the experienced

All right, so I'm hanging out with Will now.

Will, your outfit is amazing.

Those bell-bottoms.

Those sideburns look so awesome.

So I knew you were a huge Disney fan

before any of this happened.

Well, when I first found out I was a Mouseketeer,

I freaked out because there's so many stars

that actually came from it.

Like, you know, I'm making a show now, teens for teens.

It's absolutely unreal.

I've always been a dancer

and I've always been dancing and getting into that groove

and just dancing around at parties and stuff like that.

Well, I mean, I've been singing for about--

well, since I was seven years old.

I'm 15 now.

I knew I always loved it.

You know, it's something that's--

Music has always been around in my house all the time.

Maybe when I was like 10 years old, you kind of start to see like,

this can be a future for somebody.

There's a lot of people that do this for a living.

You know, so it's like, let's try it.

[music]

♪ Listen, baby to what I... ♪

So far, it's been a blast and so--

Yeah. No, it's really exciting.

Singing's like my passion, so it's fun.

Yeah, well, my life has, when I was younger,

was all about sport.

I wanted to be a soccer player, but it was always--

I started tap dancing

and I was playing soccer, tap, soccer, dance,

soccer, dance, and I came home and I said,

"Mom, I want to be an entertainer,"

and then I burst into tears.

And I never looked back

and it's just, it's such a passion of mine, creating.

Once I decided, it was, you've got to get to America.

We didn't know how, but we knew we had to.

It's Hollywood. It's the place to be.

So what was it like for you to kind of find out

that you were going to be working with Disney?

It was like a dream come into reality.

I mean, I've seen the Mickey Mouse Club of course,

and to think how many stars have come out of that show,

and to think that like,

we're going to be a part of that new generation,

is like so crazy to me, still.

So you guys obviously all kind of contribute

in different ways to the show.

You sing and you also dance.

What do you feel like has been your biggest contribution?

Teaching Sean to dance.

[laughing]

I wrote a lot of the lyrics for "Be Ok,"

which is one of the original songs that's coming out.

I do have a duet with Jenna,

and me and Jenna actually choreographed the whole thing.

We have a cast that wants to help each other out.

He taught me how to play the drums.

I practiced my singing with Brianna.

So I absolutely love it.

All of us here have a variety of talents,

but I'm here as a dancer and also, I happen to be choreographing

a part of this secret music video that we're filming today.

Ooh, that's exciting.

All right, so Ky, tell me what is the Disney movie

that's been most inspiring to you in your career.

Probably Beauty and the Beast.

Celine Dion is my favorite artist because of--

That soundtrack is just insane, so I've listened to that again and again.

I'm going to go with the very older classic,

Lilo & Stitch.

The whole movie's about family and it's--

You know, even though that you may look different, it's okay.

You can be different and still love yourself

and love other people as well.

- Way harder than I thought... and I still haven't finished.

- The best part is left. The head.

- Fucking philadelphia cheese. I was not sure that I could finish it.

- And now? - Now, yes!

- You can never be sure until the last bite. You have experience with that.

- I knew I would puke that day. I just expected it would be in the end.

my go to fall time date night outfit ideas I hand-picked each outfit at my

local Gucci well the first outfit here is my personal fave there's so much

detail pops of color I paired it with this beautiful black charcoal handbag my

favorite part of this outfit is the floral design on the neck for sure it's

so bold yet so subtle that it works for everyone these shorts are must-have if

you're going to go on any date this Louise zipper just gives it an extra

flare I chose these gorgeous shoes because they add a festive twist on this

outfit you're bound to stand out with this my next choice is a little more

cash but it's still so sexy for that spicy autumn night I fell in love with

this clutch because it's so unique yet basic enough for me to rock

these shoes went perfect with a subtle leopard print feature on the bottom

cuffs of the dark stained blue jeans which really gives this a cute pop and

this whole outfit just like comes together so nicely this top has so many

cool aspects to it the magenta hot pink will surely bring out your sexy side not

to mention the discreet shoulder puffs to give you that hourglass figure I get

so many compliments on this outfit from my friends and my dates always just want

me to take it off I guess that means it's super sexy my final outfit is

inspired by a cold night and a cup of hot chocolate but wait to see everything

else in this warm Midwest ensemble this oversized jacket really complements the

light blue denim dress I love the tie in the front you notice the simple white

see I put underneath it fits so well and I'm just in love with white shirts this

ass alpha is very versatile if you get too warm you can always just shut a

layer I love that the back has this beautiful woven design which really

sealed the deal for me I use my red heels again because it just matched so

well

now my favorite parts of this whole thing is right here I bet you didn't

expect this little hand stitch design it'll surely be a nice surprise for your

Lee Jong-hyun up for lead role in Lingerie Girls' Generation.

Ooh, I'm definitely excited to see that there's some movement on this project.

KBS is considering a drama adaptation of the novel Lingerie Girls' Generation, and an offer is out to CNBLUEs Lee Jong-hyun (My Only Love Song, Orange Marmalade) to play the lead male role in the youth nostalgia drama.

Unfortunately, there haven't been any character descriptions released for the role Lee Jong-hyun is considering, but since this show is primarily set in a girls' high school in 1970s Daegu, Im thinking that he'll play a high school student who gets involved with our heroine.

I absolutely love throwback dramas, especially if it deals with the youth of that era, so if his character is supposed to be the heroine's love interest, I'm looking forward to watching them develop a relationship against a backdrop of awesome old-school fashion trends and pop music.

There are also other elements of this story Im looking forward to, like the friendships between the heroine and her squad, as well as with the popular new transfer student from Seoul.

I'm already excited to see the city girl bond with the group of saturi-speaking teenagers.

They also have a mystery to solve with the rising number of sexual assaults happening in Daegu, as well as the ominous disappearances of the female workers at the local toy factory.

Added to that is the coming-of-age element, especially since the story will center around young women in an era that still had strong patriarchal attitudes in mainstream society.

Whew, all that and in just eight episodes? A part of me wishes it had a higher episode count just so I can enjoy the Sunny-like story for longer, but the other half is hoping that this will mean a tight, fast-paced plot that does justice to the subject matter.

KBS is looking to schedule Lingerie Girls' Generation to follow currently airing School 2017, which would put its premiere in September.
