Why the only future worth building includes everyone | Pope Francis - Duration: 17:45.

Good evening – or, good morning, I am not sure what time it is there.

Regardless of the hour, I am thrilled to be participating in your conference.

I very much like its title – "The Future You" –

because, while looking at tomorrow, it invites us to open a dialogue today,

to look at the future through a "you."

"The Future You:"

the future is made of yous, it is made of encounters,

because life flows through our relations with others.

Quite a few years of life

have strengthened my conviction

that each and everyone's existence is deeply tied to that of others:

life is not time merely passing by, life is about interactions.

As I meet, or lend an ear to those who are sick,

to the migrants who face terrible hardships

in search of a brighter future,

to prison inmates who carry a hell of pain inside their hearts,

and to those, many of them young, who cannot find a job,

I often find myself wondering:

"Why them and not me?"

I, myself, was born in a family of migrants;

my father, my grandparents, like many other Italians,

left for Argentina

and met the fate of those who are left with nothing.

I could have very well ended up among today's "discarded" people.

And that's why I always ask myself, deep in my heart:

"Why them and not me?"

First and foremost, I would love it if this meeting could help to remind us

that we all need each other,

none of us is an island,

an autonomous and independent "I," separated from the other,

and we can only build the future by standing together, including everyone.

We don't think about it often, but everything is connected,

and we need to restore our connections to a healthy state.

Even the harsh judgment I hold in my heart

against my brother or my sister,

the open wound that was never cured, the offense that was never forgiven,

the rancor that is only going to hurt me,

are all instances of a fight that I carry within me,

a flare deep in my heart that needs to be extinguished

before it goes up in flames, leaving only ashes behind.

Many of us, nowadays,

seem to believe that a happy future is something impossible to achieve.

While such concerns must be taken very seriously,

they are not invincible.

They can be overcome when we don't lock our door to the outside world.

Happiness can only be discovered

as a gift of harmony between the whole and each single component.

Even science – and you know it better than I do –

points to an understanding of reality

as a place where every element connects and interacts with everything else.

And this brings me to my second message.

How wonderful would it be

if the growth of scientific and technological innovation

would come along with more equality and social inclusion.

How wonderful would it be, while we discover faraway planets,

to rediscover the needs of the brothers and sisters orbiting around us.

How wonderful would it be if solidarity,

this beautiful and, at times, inconvenient word,

were not simply reduced to social work,

and became, instead, the default attitude

in political, economic and scientific choices,

as well as in the relationships among individuals, peoples and countries.

Only by educating people to a true solidarity

will we be able to overcome

the "culture of waste,"

which doesn't concern only food and goods

but, first and foremost, the people

who are cast aside by our techno-economic systems

which, without even realizing it,

are now putting products at their core, instead of people.

Solidarity is a term that many wish to erase from the dictionary.

Solidarity, however, is not an automatic mechanism.

It cannot be programmed or controlled.

It is a free response born from the heart of each and everyone.

Yes, a free response!

When one realizes

that life, even in the middle of so many contradictions, is a gift,

that love is the source and the meaning of life,

how can they withhold their urge to do good to another fellow being?

In order to do good,

we need memory, we need courage and we need creativity.

And I know that TED gathers many creative minds.

Yes, love does require a creative, concrete

and ingenious attitude.

Good intentions and conventional formulas,

so often used to appease our conscience, are not enough.

Let us help each other, all together, to remember

that the other is not a statistic or a number.

The other has a face.

The "you" is always a real presence,

a person to take care of.

There is a parable Jesus told to help us understand the difference

between those who'd rather not be bothered and those who take care of the other.

I am sure you have heard it before. It is the Parable of the Good Samaritan.

When Jesus was asked: "Who is my neighbor?" -

namely, "Who should I take care of?" -

he told this story, the story of a man

who had been assaulted, robbed, beaten and abandoned along a dirt road.

Upon seeing him, a priest and a Levite, two very influential people of the time,

walked past him without stopping to help.

After a while, a Samaritan, a very much despised ethnicity at the time, walked by.

Seeing the injured man lying on the ground,

he did not ignore him as if he weren't even there.

Instead, he felt compassion for this man,

which compelled him to act in a very concrete manner.

He poured oil and wine on the wounds of the helpless man,

brought him to a hostel

and paid out of his pocket for him to be assisted.

The story of the Good Samaritan is the story of today's humanity.

People's paths are riddled with suffering,

as everything is centered around money, and things, instead of people.

And often there is this habit, by people who call themselves "respectable,"

of not taking care of the others,

thus leaving behind thousands of human beings, or entire populations,

on the side of the road.

Fortunately, there are also those who are creating a new world

by taking care of the other, even out of their own pockets.

Mother Teresa actually said:

"One cannot love, unless it is at their own expense."

We have so much to do, and we must do it together.

But how can we do that with all the evil we breathe every day?

Thank God,

no system can nullify our desire to open up to the good,

to compassion and to our capacity to react against evil,

all of which stem from deep within our hearts.

Now you might tell me,

"Sure, these are beautiful words,

but I am not the Good Samaritan, nor Mother Teresa of Calcutta."

On the contrary: we are precious, each and every one of us.

Each and every one of us is irreplaceable in the eyes of God.

Through the darkness of today's conflicts,

each and every one of us can become a bright candle,

a reminder that light will overcome darkness,

and never the other way around.

To Christians, the future does have a name,

and its name is Hope.

Feeling hopeful does not mean to be optimistically naïve

and ignore the tragedy humanity is facing.

Hope is the virtue of a heart

that doesn't lock itself into darkness, that doesn't dwell on the past,

does not simply get by in the present, but is able to see a tomorrow.

Hope is the door that opens onto the future.

Hope is a humble, hidden seed of life

that, with time, will develop into a large tree.

It is like some invisible yeast that allows the whole dough to grow,

that brings flavor to all aspects of life.

And it can do so much,

because a tiny flicker of light that feeds on hope

is enough to shatter the shield of darkness.

A single individual is enough for hope to exist,

and that individual can be you.

And then there will be another "you," and another "you,"

and it turns into an "us."

And so, does hope begin when we have an "us?"

No.

Hope began with one "you."

When there is an "us," there begins a revolution.

The third message I would like to share today

is, indeed, about revolution: the revolution of tenderness.

And what is tenderness?

It is the love that comes close and becomes real.

It is a movement that starts from our heart

and reaches the eyes, the ears and the hands.

Tenderness means to use our eyes to see the other,

our ears to hear the other,

to listen to the children, the poor, those who are afraid of the future.

To listen also to the silent cry of our common home,

of our sick and polluted earth.

Tenderness means to use our hands and our heart

to comfort the other,

to take care of those in need.

Tenderness is the language of the young children,

of those who need the other.

A child's love for mom and dad

grows through their touch, their gaze, their voice, their tenderness.

I like when I hear parents

talk to their babies, adapting to the little child,

sharing the same level of communication.

This is tenderness: being on the same level as the other.

God himself descended into Jesus to be on our level.

This is the same path the Good Samaritan took.

This is the path that Jesus himself took.

He lowered himself,

he lived his entire human existence

practicing the real, concrete language of love.

Yes, tenderness is the path of choice

for the strongest, most courageous men and women.

Tenderness is not weakness; it is fortitude.

It is the path of solidarity, the path of humility.

Please, allow me to say it loud and clear:

the more powerful you are,

the more your actions will have an impact on people,

the more responsible you are to act humbly.

If you don't, your power will ruin you, and you will ruin the other.

There is a saying in Argentina:

"Power is like drinking gin on an empty stomach."

You feel dizzy, you get drunk, you lose your balance,

and you will end up hurting yourself and those around you,

if you don't connect your power with humility and tenderness.

Through humility and concrete love, on the other hand,

power – the highest, the strongest one – becomes a service, a force for good.

The future of humankind isn't exclusively in the hands of politicians,

of great leaders, of big companies.

Yes, they do hold an enormous responsibility.

But the future is, most of all, in the hands of those people

who recognize the other as a "you"

and themselves as part of an "us."

We all need each other.

And so, please, think of me as well with tenderness,

so that I can fulfill the task I have been given

for the good of the other,

of each and every one, of all of you,

of all of us.

Thank you.

K.A.R.D - RUMOR MV REACTION ㅣ WooLara - Duration: 6:06.

Hello everyone~ I'm WooLara from Korea!

I'm Cai Yuan Zi~

Last time we did the K.A.R.D reaction together - Yes right

And just yesterday, K.A.R.D's new music has released yesterday!

So we are going to watch the MV first time and do the reaction

But actually, I HAVE MET KARD while shooting the video

REALLY?!

Video wasn't the MV.

(It was the other video) But I was one of the crews!

Anyway, let's watch!

- YEAH~

The video was updated yesterday, and the view is already.

2Million?!?

OMG

Wow the video is vertical!

Why is there LG?

Maybe the sponsorship?

I think it's just about the Facebook size

Yeah just about the phone size.

If you watch this with the phone, it's full size

Gosh he's so good looking

It's got the unique atmosphere - Right

Especially the color is great

He's so masculine!

I really love his voice

You know, I have met this member in real and he's really tall!

I know already!

Oh this dance?

How do we do?

I can't really dance T-T

They really only used 2 colors.

Red and blueish or greenish colors

That dance move(춤 진짜 특이하다)

I'm already one of the KARD member in my mind

Only in our mind.

Yeah I'm dancing so well in my head

I saw her too in person~ All 4 members~

It's really the first time to see the music video in the vertical video!

Yeah usually they just shoot the MV in a normal size

So I think this aimed the mobile market rather than the TV viewers.

The idea was great because, who even watch TV nowadays?

I agree. People just watch everything with their phones.

Oh I liked the angle!

Through the blind :D

OMG did you see that?

It was so dope

So pretty.

I saw her in real ~ hehe

He's so handsome

I can't do the danceT-T

I feel like my arms are super long

Wow they dance so well

Maybe this dance is going to be popular because it's easy to follow

But I can't do it.

-Why not?

I can't do the wave

Yes that was KARD

I loved the music so much

When I watched Oh Na Na I couldn't recognize the faces but now I can tell a little bit. \

I can now tell them they are so handsome

I have seen them hehehehe I'm keep saying this hahahaha

Is he really handsome in real?

YES SURE.

OW I really want to go

And the MV itself is really interesting that they filmed this vertically!

I've seen so many videos that were made only for Facebook or mobiles

But those were only 30 seconds or 1 minutes?

Yes but it was just another special version for the mobile

But this one is the original MV and it's the vertical video - right right

I really wanna see KARD in person

I wanted to ask them to take pictures with me but I couldn't!

One day I want to take pictures of KARD

I mean I really wanted to talk to them but I couldn't say anything (Because I'm shy)

Let's send a video letter to K.A.R.D!

No I already met them and they probably remember me?

Then I will just do it by myself

Hello K.A.R.D NIM This is Chinese creator Won Yeh

I really do love you so much and I want to meet you so badly

Give me any chances!

Thank you so much

We might see them really.

If we ever see them again, please take a picture with us!

See you next time~

BYE~!!

See you next time!

BYE~

Online ACT Prep from Higher Scores Test Prep - Duration: 3:36.

- Hi, my name is Lauren Gaggioli.

I am the founder and course creator here

at Higher Scores Test Prep.

I'm so excited to share my ACT Prep programs with you.

I'd like to start with option two,

my Quick Prep program because I love

that this is a program that was inspired

by so many students.

I kept getting calls from families

that were saying, "You know we don't have

"a ton of time, my student's not incredibly motivated,

"but we would like to arm him or her

"with some great strategies."

Or maybe they'd already prepped with someone else

but still felt like there was more room to grow

in their scores.

And thus the Quick Prep program was born.

This four-hour course shows students

how they can leverage overarching testing strategies

as well as subject-level specific strategies

in order to turn their test scores up a notch.

It teaches them how to leverage the academics

they already know in a more strategic and logical way.

If you do want an academic review,

then that's the Complete Package.

I love this course because it was the first one

that I created when I started Higher Scores Test Prep.

It is frankly one of the most robust programs

you can find.

It covers both academics and very targeted

score specific strategies.

We take everything from the strategies side

on Quick Prep and take it up even further.

So it really dives deep so students know exactly

what to expect on test day and by the time

they sit down on that Saturday exam,

they are fully prepared.

On the flipside, there are some students

who are incredibly strapped for time.

And for those students I created the Cram Plan.

If you have less than a week before your first exam

and you're feeling really uncomfortable

with what's coming, then the Cram Plan is a great

place to start.

The amazing thing about all of these programs is

that they all come with a bonus

of the Cash for College course.

And my Cash for College workshop is one

that I hosted with my father who also happens

to be Higher Scores CFO.

We sit down and share with you in a one-hour workshop

how you can turn test scores, any test scores,

into cash for college.

This is one of those things that my dad

and I constantly kick ourselves over.

We say, "Why didn't we know this

"when I was in high school because we could have saved

"a lot of money in college tuition."

This tutorial comes alongside any prep program

that you purchase from me because not only do I want

to help students get higher scores,

I want to make sure that they do more

than simply get you into a school.

My goal is to help families understand

how much more there is in the test score.

So if you come on board with any of the programs,

you get that bonus and there are other

great bonuses also included in the Quick Prep program

and the Complete Package program.

So to learn more about any of these programs,

you can scroll down the page, click the Learn More button

for the course you are most interested in

and take a look at what else is included in them.

I look forward to seeing you in one

of my ACT Prep programs.

6 Foods You Need to Accelerate Hair Growth - Duration: 3:07.

6 Foods You Need to Accelerate Hair Growth

Long hair is a goal many women seek to achieve.

In addition to special shampoos, masks, and haircuts during the waxing moon, a change

in nutrition will also help hair grow more quickly.

Bright Side wants to tell you about products that will not only make your hair grow faster

but also make it more healthy.

1.Salmon

The omega-3 fatty acids contained in this fish strengthen hair follicles and stimulate

hair growth.

Scientific experiments have shown that the consumption of products containing these acids

shortens the telogen phase (the resting period of hair follicles) for half a year.

In addition, salmon contains vitamin B12 and iron, which also help your hair grow faster.

2.Oysters

Oysters are a goldmine of zinc, due to which hair grows faster and gets shiny.

An oyster a day more than compensates the daily need of this element.

Of course, its almost impossible to treat oneself with such a delicacy every day.

You can replace them with wheat bran, beef (especially the liver), and pork as these

foods also contain enough zinc.

3.Chicken

Chicken is rich in animal protein, and we need it for the production of keratin the

substance the hair shaft is made up of by 80%.

Protein deficiency for only 2-3 months leads to a halt in hair growth as well as hair loss.

Other lean varieties of meat (turkey, rabbit) also contain enough animal protein.

4.Eggs

Eggs contain necessary elements for hair growth and maintenance of normal hair condition,

such as protein and biotin.

Biotin as the food additive is recommended to stop hair loss, but, being obtained with

food, it will be much more effective.

In addition, eggs contain leucine (responsible for cell division) and other amino acids our

hair needs.

5.Almonds

Almonds contain vitamin E, which activates hair growth and strengthens the hair.

30 grams of almonds (about 15-20 nuts) contains 70% of the daily norm.

In addition, almonds contain such useful substances as biotin, fatty acids, and B vitamins.

6.Pumpkin seeds

Pumpkin seeds contain vitamins B1, B2, B3, and B4, responsible for hair growth, as well

as B5 and B6, providing scalp health.

If youve got serious hair loss, you need to include more pumpkin oil in your diet since,

according to the study, it helps even with severe forms of this disease.

The Perfect Cocktail Party Pair - Fried Blue Cheese Olives & Amaretto Sour Martinis - Duration: 4:20.

And, the stage is set!

I'm Marc Sievers and this is From My Kitchen to Yours - Table for Two edition!

On tonight's menu Amaretto Sour Martinis and Fried Blue Cheese Olives.

Perfect for a coffee table cocktail party for two!

One of my favorite restaurants in Chicago is RL.

They used to have on their menu delectable fried blue cheese olives.

And one night they just vanished, and I thought I have to make these at home.

And luckily I figured it out!

So I have everything ready, so let's get started!

So to make fried blue cheese olives at home you need to start out with really good blue

cheese olives, from the store.

You're going to pat them dry to get some of that excess brine off.

And then, I've run them through a little bit of egg wash, which is an egg beaten up with

a little bit of water.

And some plain old-fashioned bread crumbs.

I like to get all of the olives breaded before I start frying because once you fry it goes

pretty quick!

So, this makes sure that you don't burn the olives, and you get to serve them all at the

same time nice and warm.

So, I have canola oil in a small sauce pan that I've heated on high heat to 350 degree

F, and I've used a candy thermometer to make sure that it's nice and accurate.

And instead of just dropping the olives willy-nilly into hot oil, I like to put them in a little

Chinese strainer and, I don't know, do three or four at a time.

If you do too many you run the risk of the oil splattering up and also cooling it down

too quickly.

So, I like to just drop them in very slowly, and then you'll know they're done when they're

nice and crispy!

So, I'd say those are nice and golden.

I'm going to put them onto some paper towels to cool, and move on to the next batch.

Oh!

Last one!

These look so good!

They're going to be perfect with my Amaretto Sour Martinis.

So, I lived in Boston years ago, and I used to work for a department store.

And on Friday nights I used to go with my friends to the Fairmont Copley Plaza hotel

and order the only drink I knew how to order, which was an Amaretto Sour Martini, because

it was my father's favorite.

So, I've mastered how to make them at home.

They pair perfectly with my blue cheese olives, and best of all it requires no little eye

drops of ingredients, or crazy measuring.

It's really about throwing everything into a shaker!

First, start by taking six ounces of Amaretto, two ounces of lime juice, two ounces of freshly

squeeze lemon juice, and a tablespoon of honey.

Put his little hat on, and we're going to shake it for 60 seconds!

It's longer than you realize, but really worth the work-out.

(Sigh) It really is a lot of work!

(laughs)

Well, I have my Amaretto Sour Martinis, my Fried Blue Cheese Olives, and I'd say I'm

ready for a coffee table cocktail party for two!

Oldie but a goodie! (kiss) Bye guys!

Ah!

I could drink these all *bleep* day!

Maybe I will!
