she's doing everything: cooking, cleaning, washing

Woe is Me - Duration: 3:22.

Have you ever heard the phrase, "When God closes a door,

he opens a window"?

That phrase is meant to be very comforting and very encouraging.

But have you ever thought about that phrase?

Why a window?

Open another door.

Why would God close one door then make you crawl through a window?

Have you ever tried to crawl through a window?

If you have, I don't want to know that story.

There's probably some shenanigans that went on there,

some bad news.

You, you probably got hurt.

Why would God close door

and open a window,

and make it hard?

In 1 Kings chapter 17, God closed the door on the blessings

that God had been given the prophet, Elijah.

Elijah went, as God commanded,

and went to the wicked King Ahab of Israel

and said, "No more dew. No more rain until God commands because of your wickedness."

And then he became public enemy number one.

God closed the door in his old life.

Elijah was on the run.

He had to hang out by a stream that was there,

a little brook.

But God opened the window

and birds came in and gave him food every day.

How cool would that be

that God would allow food to come in to your doorstep,

like a delivery guy, every single day?

But not with birds, of course,

because the FDA would have a problem with the sanitary conditions

and PETA would think you're having cruelty to animals.

But God brought that blessing to Elijah.

And then, suddenly,

it dried up.

The birds flew away and God said, "Now Elijah, I'm opening a window.

It's going be hard.

You have to go up to a widow of Zarephath, in the region of Sidon.

That's where wicked King Ahab's wife is from.

They would have found out about it.

God's putting him in a death trap situation.

Elijah could have cried out,

"Woe is me!"

But he didn't.

He said, "God, I trust thee."

Where in your life is God closing doors,

and you're frustrated?

Frustrated because what you now have to do seems like it's a small little thing

and it's a, a window of an opportunity.

And you think, "God, why,

why are you forcing me this way?

Open this door back up.

But who's to say that when you go through that window,

that difficult time,

God doesn't open up incredible blessings on the other end?

Elijah went up to Zarephath and he was there to be a blessing to her.

For that widow's son died.

And listen to her reaction. She said,

Elijah was there

to give her hope,

to give her strength in God of the Almighty.

And God, by his power alone, raised that son from death to life.

Elijah was there to bring a blessing,

but it only happened when he was willing to go through difficulty.

Friends, go through difficulty with trust,

with confidence,

that God is almighty

and he will bless.

Hi guys! Welcome back to "On the go with EF". Do you know where I am?

I'm in London and it's amazing. But you already know that if you follow our vlog.

I'm at the EF school now and I'm going to meet up with my friend Daniel.

He's the activities manager here, so his job is pretty cool.

He goes around and does a bunch of cool things with all the students all day long,

so I'm really hoping he's got something fun planned for me, too.

Amazing things. We went to the top of the Shard, which is the tallest building in western Europe.

I have a challenge for you. A challenge?

British English vs. American English. Oh my gosh, guys.

Maria, welcome to school. Thank you.

So … the challenge. American English vs. British English.

The challenge is, I'm going to say an American word or an international English word,

and you have to tell me the English version, okay?

Are you ready? Yes. Challenge accepted. Let's do it!

The first word: cell phone. Mobile.

Very good. Soccer.

Football. Very, very good. Excellent. Okay …

Field. Like field, where they play football?

Yes. They call it a football …. Football field?

Football pitch.

Elevator. Lift.

Very good. Fall – as in the season.

Autumn. Well done, well done.

Line, as in a line of people. Queue.

Apartment. Flat?

Yes. Cookie. Biscuit?

Yes. You're very good at this, Maria. I'm ready to move to London!

This is really important. Chips … in a packet. Crisps.

Yes! French fries. Potatoes?

They are potatoes, but I was looking for a different …

We eat that on a daily basis here. Breakfast lunch and dinner.

Candy. I don't know.

Sweet, as in sweets. We love to eat sweets.

Okay. Can – as in a can of something. Like a Coca-cola can? A container?

I'm looking for tin. Tin is the word. Tin? That's the first time I heard that. A tin.

So, can I have a tin of Coca-cola? I'll have a tin of Coca-Cola.

Garbage. Trash.

That's still American. I'm looking for a different word.

Waste. A synonym of waste. Rubbish.

Liz doesn't do her rubbish. No.

Sneakers. Shoes?

Sport shoes, sport sneakers, sport …. This is like charades!

Trainers. I bought a pair of trainers last weekend, actually.

Pants. Trousers.

Very good, yes. Very sophisticated. Sweater.

Polo? No, I'm looking for a different word.

Shirt? A jumper. We like jumpers in winter.

Rain boots. This is a tricky one. Rain boots. It's a funny word. Wellies.

Wellies? I need to buy myself a pair of wellies for when I move to London.

Closet. Wardrobe!

That's a good one.

Instead of saying "thanks," in English, you say …. Thank you? I appreciate it?

If you bump glasses, you would say … Cheers!

Cheers! Exactly.

Okay. Gas. Petrol?

Yes, petrol or petroleum.

This is a very important one, okay?

Subway. Metro.

No. Underground. Okay.

Sidewalk. Pathway? No….

I'll take pathway. I was looking for "pavement," but I'll take that.

High school. Elementary school? No.

Pre-elementary school? No.

Not primary school. Not primary, not the first one, but the ….

Secondary school! Yes! Good job.

Vacation. Holidays. Holiday.

The last one is eraser. Like a rubber?

Rubber! Yes!

Hi guys! It's Mavis! I've been wanting

to do this video for hours actually. But,

I had to reroute my plans because

they're showing the Backstreet Boys

movie on VH1 and I'm a former- kinda

still am a- teeny bopper. So, I had to put

all that I was doing aside and watch

them will be like a teeny bopper zombie.

I have no problem with that.

(intro music starts playing)

So, I actually

wanted to do this video on how to live a

more unprocessed life- meaning not

using chemically enhanced products as

much. What happens is that there are

actually other ways in which we put

crap into our bodies, you know? The

lotions that we use; the deodorants that we

use; the hair products that we use; the

makeup that we use. Several ways where

things that come into contact with your

body just don't sit on your body. When

you put on lotion, your skin is porous.

So, everything that you put on your body

actually goes into your body sometimes,

you know? So, I just want to actually talk

about deodorant. Over the last two years,

I really have been looking for good

alternatives, you know? So, I was at my

doctors about three years ago and she

recommended that I start to use Tom's

deodorant because most deodorants have

aluminum in them and so when you put

that stuff into your armpit, you really

are not just putting it on your armpit.

But you're- you're like sending stuff

onto your breast; sending stuff into your

body. You honestly want to put stuff in

your body that's gonna help your body. So,

most deodorants contain aluminum and Tom's

does not contain any aluminum. Aluminum

has been linked to cancer and other

diseases. I mean just hearing the word

disease- Just knowing that you can

have a disease or get a disease or one

of the reasons that you might encounter

one is because of little things that you

do every day- that are actually harmful-

but that you just weren't aware of. It's like-

it's enough to give you hesitation,

right? Like it- for me, definitely! Tom's is

a great deodorant. I have one right here.

Actually, I have two!

This is a great deodorant. I want to say

that because it really is a good choice

for someone who's looking for an actual

deodorant stick. Not to like do something

like "Oh, I'm gonna put baby powder on."

Which is something that my friend in

high school did. Like she didn't use

deodorant. She used baby powder and like...

that's messy. Like I need something that's

easy, you know? Tom's- I've been using it for two

years. I've used the natural scent. I've used the

lavender scent and I've used the lemongrass.

I'm someone who needs that deodorant

"Oh look! I'm so fresh! Oh fresh!" Like the

commercial fresh. I need that feeling. I

need that moment when I whiff as Iput on

my deodorant, you know? I know very

dramatic. I know. The natural scent- I'm

gonna be honest - was not the greatest-

mm-hmm- Just wasn't- it was mmm maybe a little

too natural. The lavender scent- and I

love lavender. I love purples (my color of choice).

The lavender was... It felt fake for

something that's natural. You know I mean?

Like are you this or this? So, I've settled

on the lemongrass. And let me tell you.

Lemongrass actually gives me that "Oh

nice! Oh!" and so that really makes me happy

to have found something that is as-

that smells as good as, you know, the

other commercial deodorants. Let's be

honest. I'm gonna be straight up honest.

Those deodorants smell fabulous and I'd

be using them if the aluminum wasn't

in them. Loving Tom's but I'm gonna

keep it 100. I'm gonna tell you the truth.

Right here. Look right here. Can you

read what it says? Can you read what it

says right there in blue? It says

"long-lasting" That's a lie. 100%

a lie. I was actually on a shoot

maybe a month ago so and we're working

and then like maybe three-quarters of

the way into it I said, "Okay, well, we have

to take a moment now because I have to

put on my deodorant. A girl was like, "Oh

my gosh!" and not "Oh my gosh, you're a

freak because you're putting deodorant on

in front of everybody!" No. But,

"Oh my gosh! I use Tom's too. I love it." She

said, "But, I have to keep one in my bag also!"

So, she also had to keep at Tom's deodorant in

her bag. So, Tom's is well worth it. We

both thought it was well worth it as a

deodorant... If you don't mind having to

reapply- which, I mean, is a big "if you

don't mind." But, if you don't mind having

to reapply deodorant a few times, I

really, really, really think that it's a

good alternative. So, I just wanted to

share that. Just in case people are

looking for a deodorant alternative...

alternative deodorant, I would say. I

think that Tom's is great. I mean,

I know that some people say put coconut oil

there and I've done stuff like that. I

have tried other stuff but like you

want to make it easy for yourself. So,

this Tom's is- I would say it's a good

product. It's a good product. So, use it! Maybe

I shouldn't have thrown it like that.

That doesn't say much for what I'm

trying to convey. But, anyways, so I'm

gonna go now and, actually, I'm going to

go and listen to some 90's Backstreet

Boys and 'N Sync before Justin Timberlake

decided to break up the group. Do you

remember Brandy's "Sitting up in my room.

Don't got nothing to do. I must

confess I'm a-" Whatever! I didn't say I was a singer.

I just said I love music.

Natural Thyroid Remedies and Adrenal Fatigue - Duration: 4:27.

This is Dr. Lam, founder of drlam.com and the Adrenal Fatigue Center.

Today we're going to talk about different kinds of natural thyroid remedies.

Now many people are put on thyroid medications nowadays by their private doctor once they

complain of fatigue and when their laboratory tests come back supporting such conclusions.

Now a lot of times, you can see I'm hesitating a little bit because thyroid medication can

be a two-edged sword.

If you truly have a thyroid problem then surely thyroid medication is indicated.

However, many people are put on thyroid medication simply because they complain of fatigue and

the doctor don't know what to do with them.

Now in such cases you can actually try some kind of thyroid support that is natural to

see whether it can help you prior to embarking on a medication program, if that is what you

want to do.

Some natural thyroid remedies include kelp, which contains iodine.

And iodine is the building block of thyroid hormone.

You can also take thyroid glandular products which are natural compounds derived from animals

thyroid gland that is processed and designed to deliver similar thyroid cells as the human

and therefore contains thyroid hormones.

One of most frequently overlooked area is to support the adrenal glands.

We know that the adrenal glands and the thyroid glands are both hormonally interconnected.

A strong adrenal will support a strong thyroid function.

So if you have a weak thyroid it is worthwhile to consider to support the adrenal glands.

Now the ways to support the adrenal glands are varied but you want to avoid using stimulants

such as glandulars as well as herbs whose purpose is to get the adrenals to produce

more cortisol for the sake of energy.

What you want to do is that you want to support the adrenal in a way that's nurturing, that

is gentle, so the body's adrenal system kicks in to make its own hormones and its

own required compounds that will in turn support the thyroid function.

This is a tricky area because, you know, some of these natural compounds, especially glandulars,

are purportedly adaptogenic, meaning they're supposed to help the body's adrenal glands

do a higher level of performance when it is necessary.

And they're supposed to be self-regulating.

But the reality we find, clinically speaking, is that this is not necessarily true, especially

for cases in advanced adrenal fatigue.

So if you want to support thyroid function without the use of any medication, first you

should talk to your doctor and seek permission.

If your doctor's okay with it then you can try some of the remedies that we mentioned

earlier.

But my best suggestion is to always start with supporting the adrenal glands.

And you'll be surprised oftentimes how well this can give a gentle, nurturing support

to the thyroid.

And that's where I would encourage you to start looking if you are

on this track.
