- Hi art friends!
- [Adam] Hi art friends!
- Today we've decided we want to have a go
at drawing with some highlighters.
- [Adam] Yeah, well is it like a highlighter challenge?
- Eh, I guess.
I dunno.
- [Adam] Impromptu highlighter challenge.
(laughing)
What's that?
You having some trouble there?
- There we go.
Ooh, look at all these colours.
I haven't even owned half of these in highlighter before?
- [Adam] I've never seen highlighters
in some of those colours before.
- Yeah, there's so many different shades
of blue and green (laughing).
- [Adam] Ooh.
- I'll pop them down there.
- [Adam] Okay.
- [Steph] Let's hope it doesn't attract bees
'cause it's so colourful.
- [Adam] Yeah you guys very kindly pointed out
it was a bumblebee in our other video.
(laughing)
- [Steph] Oh no.
- [Adam] Look at these guys.
They heard about the highlighter challenge
and they wanted to join in.
- [Steph] Do we just keep still, what do we do?
- [Adam] They're just comin' to check us out.
They won't do anything.
You guys better behave.
- [Steph] Just so you know
they're the ones who followed us over here.
- [Adam] We're gonna back you up guys.
- [Steph] I mean they're very beautiful references.
- [Adam] I love how that guy's just like
just act natural, I'll just eat some grass.
- [Steph] I'm gonna draw him.
- [Adam] The other dude's not very inconspicuous,
he's just like huh?
I forgot how to goose.
- [Steph] Maybe they're on a date?
- [Adam] Like party's over there.
You're on your way to the party guys?
Gotta look good.
Adam that one's making some weird noises.
- [Steph] I know.
I truly feel like--
- [Adam] They're just like circling around us,
should we be nervous?
- [Steph] I'm drawing these Canada geese
I think they're called.
- [Adam] Canada goose.
Yeah you guys kindly said they're not Canadian geese,
they're apparently Canada geese goose things.
I didn't think this would turn into such an awesome
life drawing session.
- I know right.
- [Adam] They're all right there.
- I wish they'd keep more still.
- [Adam] They're like I'm here
for the sketching class, I'm your model.
That one's totally ditchin' 'em to go to the party.
See ya later.
- [Steph] I'm going to do
really colourful Canadian geese I guess.
- [Adam] He's got that swagger walk going on.
(upbeat instrumental music)
Wow, look is that Barry?
(laughing)
- [Steph] Have you come to join in as well?
- [Adam] Barry!
Barry come here.
(laughing)
- [Steph] I like how he just sort of awkwardly looks over.
Oh hello.
- [Adam] How's it going Barry?
You going to the party too?
- [Steph] There's some geese over there
if you want to make some friends.
Oh he's going (laughing).
- [Adam] Aw, he's such a cute little goose.
- I never really plan out my subject matter
for these drawings as you could probably tell
with the washi tape.
- [Adam] Well guys we were plannin' to do
just some kind of random highlighter thing
and then nature just sort of descended on us again
and I guess we're doing geese and stuff now.
- Oh, your sketchbook's blowin'.
- [Adam] Oh no.
I better draw something too.
- [Steph] Now what are you drawing?
- Well seeing as you're already doing a goose
like a full on goose.
- [Steph] There's a goose.
- I was gonna try and do maybe like a human goose,
like a character goose (laughing).
That sounds so weird.
Imagine a Canadian goose but as a superhero,
that's what I'm gonna go for.
- [Steph] Oh, so like one of those themed parties.
- Yeah, they think they're a hero
but they're just going to a themed party.
Yeah, that's the plan.
Oh look a butterfly.
Oh yeah, you're scared of butterflies.
(laughing)
Oops, we get distracted by everything.
- [Steph] Oh, that's lookin' pretty cool.
- It's gonna be a superhero.
By the power that is all Canadian, I am Canada goose.
I'm really sorry if you're Canadian.
(laughing)
And you get offended by this.
- [Steph] You've done a really cool job with the paws
considering you don't have a reference or anything.
- I have to become the Canada goose woman.
It's just gonna start runnin' around whoosh.
Where are you guys, woah, it's a race.
(laughing)
(spring boinging)
Look at those legs.
Hey he's cheatin', he's jumpin'.
Oh, now he's going that way.
Watch me jump.
- [Steph] Part of me's tempted to just do all the background
in highlighter and then try to see if I've got
other stuff to colour him in with.
- [Adam] Oh okay.
Maybe mix it up.
- [Steph] I don't know.
I just want to do a good job of him.
- [Adam] What are you using?
- [Steph] I want to try to use the purple
to colour in this plant thing.
I'll show you my reference, it's right next to me.
See that in there?
- [Adam] What's that thing?
What is that?
- [Steph] I don't know, I'm just drawing it (laughing).
Nature provided me with it so I shall draw it.
That's another problem with highlighters
is that they're all chisel tips and for little details
you really have to be quite careful.
We've had to move 'cause a random photographer
wanted to take photos of the geese I think.
- [Adam] Zoom in on him.
You did this to me.
- The geese are very popular around here apparently.
- [Adam] Yeah, the geese are super popular.
That goose has some lovely legs.
This is what I've got so far guys.
- [Steph] The Mildliners are a lot better
for lining with.
- [Adam] Oh, because you've got the fine tip.
- [Steph] Yeah I've a little fine side so you can really
get in those little tiny bits.
- [Adam] This is what I've got so far.
Stickin' to the superhero theme.
I don't know how I'm going to do the wings yet guys.
- [Steph] Oh there's a goose on the front.
- [Adam] Yeah.
- [Steph] That's so cool.
- [Adam] What are you going to be colouring
this side of the goose with?
I think you've been putting this off for awhile.
- [Steph] Yeah, I have intentionally.
So I was waiting, I might do it in this Mildline orange.
If he looked like this in the wild
he would not be able to camouflage anywhere.
- [Adam] Unless he was in a banana tree?
It totally looks like little bananas on his wings.
- [Steph] Little banana patterns.
- [Adam] Yeah.
You've discovered a new breed of goose.
The banana goose.
- [Steph] You need to start colouring in yours.
- [Adam] I've been having so much fun,
I've really procrastinated in this one.
I've been having so much fun just chasing nature around.
- [Steph] Adam's working some pencil magic over here.
- [Adam] Yeah and again I didn't bring a sharpener
so the lines look terrible.
The lines are way too thick.
But it does help you think on your feet though guys.
- [Steph] The focus of this is gonna be
on the highlighters so I wouldn't worry
about your pencil technique too much.
- [Adam] Oh okay.
I have to admit it's been fun doing that.
A week of videos outside.
It's been fun coming out again now the weather's actually
somewhat decent to us.
Better get those big meaty fists in.
- [Steph] Oh, you actually usin' a highlighter?
- It's highlighter time.
- [Steph] Woo!
- [Adam] I was thinkin' of giving her,
have you noticed I've started smudging.
I was like oh this is looking cool
and then completely forgettin'
the whole point of this video.
- [Steph] Yeah, you're going to mucky up
all our new highlighters.
- I'm sorry!
Ooh, oh wow this is like, my eyes are like.
That's super like woah.
- [Steph] I wonder if it'll show on the video.
- [Adam] I hope it does 'cause this is--
- [Steph] How luminous it is in real life.
- Messin' with me this is crazy.
I know, let's give her some pink eyes
'cause all superheroes have magic eyes right?
- [Steph] Pinkeye (laughing).
- Yeah, or maybe a goose farted on her face
and she got pinkeye.
- [Steph] I like how we're out in nature
and we're making all these sci fi.
- Maybe there's just a squirrel
dropping the bass over there somewhere.
I'm going to try now I've coloured in the little chest bit
and then get in with the actual goose emblem things.
- [Steph] The goose emblem.
- Well you know like Superman has the S.
I was thinkin' maybe she could just have a friendly goose.
Whenever there's a goose in need,
a goose girl comes and saves them.
- [Steph] Is that when geese honk?
- [Adam] Yeah.
Goose girl, honk!
(laughing)
- [Steph] I've been trying to think what colour
would be best for the goose's head and his legs and stuff
and I think this purple's gonna be
the closest thing I have to a dark.
- [Adam] It's kind of like he's got a sock on his neck.
(laughing)
Sock goose.
What would you rate these markers, markers, highlighters?
What do you think of them?
- [Steph] I really like them.
I sometimes buy the pawn shop ones
and I always find that they dry out a lot faster.
They're very nice compared to some of the ones that I have.
- [Adam] We just hope we're doing them justice
on these weird goose drawings.
- [Steph] Although I've heard you can buy alcohol
and a certain type of rubbing alcohol or whatever
and you put it in the marker
and it can revitalise them or something.
- [Adam] Oh wow, that's pretty useful.
- [Steph] I've never tried it though.
- [Adam] You're gonna totally use up all of these.
I think these will become an instant favourite for you.
- [Steph] It's a shame that it's so hard to fit
highlighters in pencil cases 'cause they're so chunky.
I can only fit one in mine.
The Mildliners are good though.
You can fit a lot of Mildliners in a pencil case.
- [Adam] Look at that blue beak.
- [Steph] This is a purple.
- [Adam] Purple beak.
(laughing)
Oh he does actually have matching socks.
Got one on my face and two on my feet.
- [Steph] And I'll probably end up doing
these bits in it as well.
- [Adam] He's a very colour coordinated goose,
I'll give him that.
- [Steph] I'm trying my hardest
with a limited colour palette.
Still trying to capture the essence of goose.
- [Adam] I see you Mr. Squirrel.
- [Steph] Oh he's so cute.
- [Adam] He's like look at my butt.
Look at my butt while I eat nuts.
- [Steph] Oh you're using the yellow.
- [Adam] I'm thinkin' of giving her bright yellow hair.
- [Steph] Oh and the yellow is always
the first one to get tainted with pencil lead.
- [Adam] Do you think I should try?
- [Steph] Yeah, just go for it.
- [Adam] It's on you.
Here we go.
- [Steph] You can kind of do some scribblin' afterwards
to try and clean it out.
It does look good though.
I think she suits the yellow hair.
- [Adam] I think I'm gettin' lucky here.
- [Steph] Are you subconsciously trying
to put me into this character?
- [Adam] Yeah I'm like what would Steph do
if she mutated with a goose?
I'd like to think if you mutated with a goose
you'd fight crime.
- [Steph] Yeah, me too.
- [Adam] And help geese.
I think I got super lucky.
I was worried that all of the pencil would get pulled off
and smudged but I think I got very lucky.
- [Steph] I just realised
I think the photographer man's run away.
- [Adam] Yeah he did.
- [Steph] Oh did you see him?
- [Adam] He gave us evils when he left.
He's like I'm watching you.
- [Steph] Oh he's gone up there look.
He's in the tree.
- [Adam] Are you spying on me?
- [Steph] He's just staring at us, that's kind of weird.
- [Adam] Whatcha doin'?
I kind of wish I'd drawn a squirrel character now.
- [Steph] Yeah.
- [Adam] Oh, here he comes.
Where are you going?
Where you going?
- [Steph] I love the way the--
- [Adam] Woah, he's woah.
I've lost him.
Follow me guys.
Oh wow this tree's taller than I thought it was.
Oh wait a second, I'm on to something.
Now I'm not an expert but I don't think this squirrel
got these peanuts from this tree.
Look!
He's been feastin' in here.
That's crazy, it's like a secret stash.
- [Steph] The weather's been unusually good
for April to be honest.
- Yeah, especially with this week of video guys,
we've gotten very lucky.
- [Steph] Yeah.
We probably won't get this lucky again
for another six years.
(laughing)
- Tune in in six years time
when we do Doodle Date daily again.
No, hopefully it'll be sooner than that.
(laughing)
it's been a lot of fun and I'm really,
well we're both really glad you've been so into it,
We definitely want to do it again in the future.
Hopefully again this year too.
- [Steph] It would be nice.
- [Adam] Oh I know what I could give her.
- [Steph] What?
- And I could do it with a highlighter too.
You know people have letters tattooed across their fingers?
- [Steph] Oh yeah.
- She could have that.
- [Steph] Like goose life.
- I was thinkin' bird life.
- [Steph] Oh really?
- Unless she had a few more fingers to fit goose on.
Okay, let's give that a try.
- [Steph] I wonder if anyone actually has that
tattoo in real life?
- [Adam] Maybe someone who's super passionate about birds.
It's Tarzan goose.
He looks pretty shifty (laughing).
What if I just wander over here really slowly.
I'm gonna find some food.
- [Steph] Subscribe for more art videos
and I'll pop a playlist of all of the videos
from this past week of daily Doodle Date.
- Yeah, it was eight days guys.
We hope you enjoyed it and we're determined to do it again.
- [Steph] One day.
(laughing)
- One day.
And here's the finished artwork for today guys.
- [Steph] Yeah, here's a little close up.
There we go.
Thanks so much for watching this week.
We really appreciate it.
- Yeah, thanks guys it's been an amazing journey.
- [Steph] Thanks for hanging out with us.
- Doodle Date.
- Doodle Date, bye!

DROPPING THE DODGE!!! - Duration: 5:47.
- This is not the type of workshop I'm used to.
(upbeat music)
This truck is so dirty that I have to fill up,
like I ran out of gas.
(upbeat music)
I ran out of gas trying to clean this thing.
It's dirty.
(upbeat music)
Let's try this again.
The only real reason we had to pick it up
is for me to drain the fluids.
Fluids are drained.
Now I can set this thing back on the ground.
But now I need the tractor because
it doesn't have any oil or any coolant.
But now it's all soaked so I'm not
gonna be able to finish it today.
I mean, I could, but why work harder
when you can work smarter?
I think I'm ready to set that Dodge down.
I'm having fun with these two.
So, we're replacing that bearing,
right here, today.
- Yeah, that and the universal,
and the seal and--
- Did Danny take this off roading or something?
Is that why it's like this?
(upbeat music)
So while the Ram Charger fluid's drain
I'm gonna help you guys, okay?
I think you guys are doing excellent
considering how rusty that thing is.
I can't believe you even got the first one to go.
That makes it so easy.
- [Man] Yeah, and if it don't work, you know
what else you do after you heat it
and it don't work?
- [Dalton] You quench it?
- [Man] Yeah, you put cold water on it, to shock it.
- If that works, I wanna get a shot of that.
(upbeat music)
So my plan is, I'm gonna let the fluids
drain out of this thing.
I got my pans underneath it.
And while that's doing that, I'm gonna
see how these guys make out.
Try to help them when I can.
Dan, we got a problem.
So we tried using the chisel and now
we gotta get the torch out.
And then we're gonna quench it?
And how old is this truck?
Ninety?
- [Man] Nine.
- 99.
I'm gonna have to title this video,
"Up on the Farm."
- [Man] We do things different on the farm.
- That's right.
(upbeat music)
So basically, you guys are gonna
have a brand new truck by the time we're done here.
- [Man] Yeah, right.
- We're gonna do the lower ball joint first.
And that ball joint's gotta be pushed through.
So we're gonna heat it up.
I'm learning Farming 101, right?
(upbeat music)
This is gonna need a lot of force.
Have you seen the rust down there?
She got some rust.
So we've heated around the lower ball joints
and then my idea was to take this big long pole,
or punch, and hit it with the hammer.
And all that did was dent the ball joint.
So now we're just cutting it with a torch.
When in doubt, just torch it out, right?
So is the torch the number one tool on the farm?
Is the torch the number one tool at the farm?
- The hammer is first.
- And then the torch?
- And then the torch.
- You men are animals.
He said, "Those aren't my pliers, they're mine."
He says, "He doesn't care."
What if we rip this thing right through here?
I like your lighting here in the garage, though.
This one right here.
That's free too.
- [Man] I got the bird camera.
If you're nice to them, they don't shit on ya
when you're working on the vent.
- That's nice of them, yep.
- [Man] Oh, sending it right home.
- These gentlemen are a very big fan of the torch.
I'm a big fan of the PB Blaster, penetrating oil.
Oh, here you go.
- [Man] Got it started.
- What you think of that PB Blaster?
Was that good stuff?
- [Man] Yeah.
- Look at that, first hit.
First try?
I just got back from Danny's grandfathers.
I have to read the note on the back,
real quick, before I hang it up.
Otherwise I won't be able to read it.
"Hello, my name is Deryk.
"I am 14 years old and live in Arizona.
"I love watching your videos every day of the week.
"Braaap on."
Thanks Deryk, you're gonna be
on the wall of fame first.
(upbeat music)
Guess I'm a little dirty.
Those guys really like their torch, don't they?
Now this is very interesting.
And this does concern you, so please,
let me know in the conversation below.
These are batteries and a battery charger
for my other camera.
So this will be Camera A.
So here's the picture, here's the audio.
So this is Camera B, this is the audio,
this is the picture.
And then these are the batteries for Camera B.
Whichever you prefer, the polls are up here
or the comment section.
Now we're back on Camera A.
So, overall, do you like Camera A better
or Camera B better?
If anybody else wants to send me anything else
to be displayed to the wall of fame,
I hope I don't run out of room too quickly.
(upbeat music)

Julia Michaels - Issues - Cover by Xandra Garsem
I'm jealous, I'm overzealous
When I'm down, I get real down
When I'm high, I don't come down
I get angry, baby, believe me
I could love you just like that
And I could leave you just this fast
But you don't judge me
'Cause if you did, baby, I would judge you too
No, you don't judge me
'Cause if you did, baby, I would judge you too
'Cause I got issues
But you got 'em too
So give 'em all to me
And I'll give mine to you
Bask in the glory
Of all our problems
'Cause we got the kind of love
It takes to solve 'em
Yeah, I got issues
And one of them is how bad I need you
You do shit on purpose
You get mad and you break things
Feel bad, try to fix things
But you're perfect
Poorly wired circuit
And got hands like an ocean
Push you out, pull you back in
'Cause you don't judge me
'Cause if you did, baby, I would judge you too
No, you don't judge me
'Cause you see it from same point of view
'Cause I got issues
But you got 'em too
So give 'em all to me
And I'll give mine to you
Bask in the glory
Of all our problems
'Cause we got the kind of love
It takes to solve 'em

100 Year Old Tie Knot | How To Tie The Pratt Knot | Tying Necktie Tutorial - Duration: 2:42.
Alright gentlemen, time to step up your tie game with a tie knot that has been around
for one hundred years, but is actually rarely used.
In today's video gentlemen, we are going to learn how to tie the Pratt Knot, also known
as the Shelby Knot.
Though it's been around since the 1920s, the Pratt Knot was made famous by the news anchor
Don Shelby, who used this knot exclusively.
The main characteristics of the Pratt Knott are: One, it's a medium sized knot, and is easy to
tie.
Two, it will work well for both business and social events.
And three, this knot fits best with a point or medium spread collar.
To start tying the Pratt Knot, drape the tie over your neck; for this knot you will
have the outside of the tie facing towards you.
Adjust the tie, making the wide end longer than the narrow.
The exact length will vary, based on the height of the wearer and the length of the neck tie.
Cross the narrow end over the wide end, then bring the wide end over and through the opening
near your neck.
Now cross the wide end in front of the narrow end, then bring it under and up through the
neck opening.
Finish off by pulling the wide end through the loop formed at the front.
Tighten the knot by gently pulling on the wide end while holding the knot until you
are pleased with how it looks.
Bring the knot up to your neck by holding the narrow end while pushing the knot up with
your other hand.
Keep the ends tidy by pulling the narrow end through the keeper loop on the back of the
tie.
Your tie should rest between the top and middle of your belt line.
If it's too short, start over making the wide end lower; if it's too long, start with the
wide end higher.
Tying the Pratt Knot is easy to learn and remember, and is the perfect choice when you're
ready to break away from the typical necktie knots out there.

Splatoon 2 ANALYSIS - Salmon Run Reveal (Secrets & Hidden Details) - Duration: 18:13.
The recent Nintendo Direct not only covered a
lot of games that are coming out soon on the 3DS and Switch but provided a look at a brand
new mode coming to Splatoon 2, Salmon Run.
While it could be compared to Horde Modes from other games, Splatoon naturally adds
its own twists to make it feel fresh.
But that's not fresh enough.
There's definitely tons of secrets and hidden details waiting to be found in Salmon Run.
So we're breaking out the old Analysis Machine to snatch up all of them.
Let's see if it can bear the load.
And we mean that quite literally.
The Splatoon section of the Direct began with a strange video that seemed more like an advertisement
out of the 70s or 80s.
While there isn't much to be gleaned from the video itself, there is something curious
about the company's name that sponsors Salmon Run, Grizzco Industries.
This is a reference to Grizzly Bears and has a much more obvious connection to bears in
other countries like in Japan where the name translates to Mister Bear & Co.
It's the first time we've seen a land mammal referenced in Splatoon outside of Judd
and Ancient Scrolls that mention humans.
So who's the one actually running Grizzco?
Could it really be a bear in the same vein Judd and and L'il Judd?
Or is it something else that holds a grudge against the Salmonid since bears commonly
eat Salmon?
There's bear iconography even in the Grizzco logo where it has bear ears at the top.
Plus, there's a moment that's exclusive to the Japanese Direct that shows a mysterious
location.
Everything in this room is reminiscent of the Salmon Run island, down to the grate in
the floor, the scattered cans, and the Salmon-shaped neon sign.
What's especially odd though is the televisions lined up in the back and the wooden bear carving
with the salmon in its mouth on top of a cooler.
Stranger still is that this isn't an old carving since the salmon has bulging eyes
like the Salmonid enemies that you fight in Salmon Run.
Could this be where the leader of Grizzco is based?
And could this actually be in Inkopolis Square?
After all, toward the end of the Salmon Run segment, we're given a glimpse of where
it's accessed from the Square.
There's a Golden Egg symbol, which we'll talk more about later, hanging on an orange
sign above an open gate.
Now while we can't see the exact room from this single screen, we do see the same kind
of cooler that the bear carving was resting on.
If we had to guess, players enter here to gain access to the mode.
And the desk on the side is where you exchange your earnings for rewards.
If we had to guess, players will never actually see the representative of Grizzco.
He'll always be just out of sight and perhaps sporting a bear-like shadow that can occasionally
be seen.
We'll get into what the rewards for Salmon Run could be later, but it seems Splatoon
has built up an intriguing amount of lore around this new mode.
So let's take a trip to where Salmon Run takes place.
Oh, but before we do, we should mention that we can see exactly where this place is in
Inkopolis Square.
It's just to the left of the main building in the back corner.
You can see the orange sign and Golden Egg symbol.
So it's a pretty prominent position and likely shows how Salmon Run is a big new mode
for Splatoon 2.
However, it doesn't take place in Inkopolis.
Instead, the Inklings are taken to a man-made island that almost looks a prison.
Everything is dark, drab, and likely horribly polluted.
In the background of its first scene though, we can see a boat in the water and windmills
on the land in the distance.
The windmills make it seem like clean energy is a thing so is only this part of the ocean
polluted?
At any rate, the island doesn't seem to have any special gimmicks to it.
All we can see are ramps to reach the upper areas and grates for the Inklings to pass
through.
The next scene shows that at least a portion of the island leads directly into the water
which has to be polluted considering its dark green appearance and the fact that barrels
are strewn all over the mud-caked beach.
However, behind the island we can see a bridge and what could be an industrial complex.
All we can really see are high walls and what we think are skyscrapers sticking out from
the distance.
Another angle provides a better look at this end of the island, and we can confirm that
those were indeed skyscrapers.
So it seems there's a city just that way, but is it Inkopolis?
The narration says that this island is across the ocean, but how much distance is there
really?
We don't think that much especially as we see another boat in the water.
We'll talk about that soon, but we also wanted to mention the spotlights on the floating
platform.
They're likely meant to serve as a warning to boats so they don't crash against the
island but what has us curious is the black and white sign hanging off of it.
It's a design that we haven't seen before and not anything related to Grizzco.
Could it be some kind of power company?
We're really not sure, especially since Inkopolis's power is supplied by the Great
Zapfish.
So is this something unrelated?
Returning to the boats, we can see that this is where the Inkling team Super Jumps from
to land on the island.
Considering the boat they're coming from, they likely didn't cross an entire ocean
which means that the city we pointed out before is most likely Inkopolis.
But we wonder if there will be more to the boat then just a place to Super Jump from.
Maybe this is where the team can potentially talk to each other and decide who's going
to use which weapon and general strategy.
It's not a guarantee, but we do think it could happen.
There are other looks at this island though including one that's closer to ground level
and shows off a salmon sign like we saw in the mysterious room.
We can also see neon strung out on the letters that make up the Inkling language which could
mean that this place lights up at night.
Is it possible that the time of day changes the longer players last in Salmon Run?
Or could this island be affected by a possible new Splatfest-like event?
It's really up in the air, but we do know that different conditions can happen on the
island.
In one scene, there's a thick fog that will definitely make it much harder to see where
the Salmonid are approaching from.
We get a better look at where the Salmonid could appear on the island thanks to an aerial
view.
The northern section is where the beach we pointed out before is located making for a
much wider area for the Salmonid to invade.
However, they can still come from the south as we can see ramps leading down into the
water.
But because of this, they'll be confined to a smaller space, making it easier for the
Inklings to splat them in groups.
We'd suspect there's a way they can approach from the east as well.
We just don't have a good look at it yet.
Another angle provides a look at some kind of structure in the distance, away from Inkopolis
and further into the ocean.
This almost looks like a city as well, but it's not as spread out and seems to be under
construction.
Could it be that there are multiple arenas for Salmon Run?
Or is that location something else entirely?
Finally, before we move on to the Inklings, we wanted to point out some of the decorations
hanging from the wires around the island which include fishing lures with the hooks hanging
off the lines.
The place really is themed around salmon.
But let's switch over to the Inklings who are sporting brand new gear for Salmon Run.
It appears your Inkling will keep their hairstyle and that's about it.
Otherwise, they wear rubber boots, rubber gloves, rubber pants, and a hat with the Grizzco
logo that has packets strapped to it.
Fittingly enough, the outfit is pretty much a match for real world salmon fisherman.
The big difference is that the Inklings wear a lifesaver on their back.
This lifesaver serves two purposes.
First, when an Inkling is splatted in Salmon Run, their lifesaver will remain behind.
And judging by the footage, it looks like the player will have limited movement with
it as well so they can try to reach an ally.
Fortunately, any ally just needs to ink the lifesaver to revive their fallen friend and
it seems only a few shots of ink are necessary to make it happen.
So staying close is a good idea to revive each other, but it could also lead to the
entire group getting splatted at once.
The other purpose of the lifesaver is that it keeps track of your total ink.
As you use your ink, the color will drain in a clockwise fashion.
It's a clever way to change things up visually while still providing the information players
need.
In addition, one scene shows that sub weapons can be used in the mode as an Ink Bomb is
thrown at the Salmonids.
It's not too surprising, but it's good to see it's there.
Nothing else is really shown about the Inklings themselves in Salmon Run though.
We have a few ideas, but we'll address those after we talk about the Salmonids in greater
depth.
But there is one more thing to mention.
During the amiibo overview, we see the equipment screen and exactly how players can change
the hairstyle and legwear of an Inkling.
There are four different hairstyle options and three legwear options though it may be
possible to expand the possibilities.
We just don't know.
But the legwear, at least for female Inklings, seems to include shorts, a skirt, and pants
so there are gender specific clothes when it comes to these options.
In addition, the Splat Dualies have seen a change since the Testfire.
During that, they had the Curling Bomb sub weapon and Inkjet Special.
Now, it seems to have Burst Bombs and Tenta Missiles.
And we don't think this is a Dualie variation as they look the same as before.
So this is probably a case of the developers continuing to balance the loadouts of the
different weapons.
But enough about the Inklings.
There's a brand new race to talk about that we've mentioned in passing a few times already,
the Salmonids.
And like the Octarians, they come in a variety of forms.
The first we see are the Chums.
These Salmon, and really the entire race, almost look mutated with their wild eyes and
crazy teeth.
Plus it doesn't hurt that they're surfacing from what appears to be polluted water.
But these fish can walk on land thanks to a special rubber suit that slips over their
lower body.
Not only does this allow them to walk, but it leaves a trail of ink behind them.
The Chum don't seem particularly strong though as their only weapon is a close-range
frying pan.
Who knew they were a fan of Tangled?
The attack from the pan seems just as devastating as the movie too as we see a Chum attempt
to attack an Inkling.
They miss so we don't know exactly how many swings are necessary, but we do see that the
pan increases in size as they swing it so you'll still want to give them a wide berth.
The Salmonid have branding down as well since we can see that the back of the pan also has
the salmon symbol.
Finally, we know that splatting a Chum grants the Inkling who did it two Power Eggs so they're
definitely in the fodder territory. There is something strange about this though as later
in the video, an Inkling splats a Chum and is given four Power Eggs instead.
Could it be that the values are increased the longer the Inkling team lasts?
But there are many other varieties of Salmonid.
In addition to the Chum, there's a larger enemy that frankly just looks like a larger
version of it except we can see its eyelids.
So we're going to call him Big Chum for now.
They're also equipped the same although their pan is much larger.
So it's safe to safe to assume that the Big Chum is slow but can take much more damage
before being splatted.
It might hit harder as well, but although we see it use its pan to splat an Inkling,
that Inkling was already partially covered in green ink.
So we don't know if it can splat in a single swing.
Finally, we counted the amount of Power Eggs granted to the Inklings that attack the Big
Chum.
At least for the Splattershot, a Power Egg is given with each hit.
Eleven come out in total before it's splatted and three more are provided afterward.
This makes us wonder if a set amount of Power Eggs can be earned from the Big Chum or if
different weapons cause different payouts since a roller hits harder with a single swing
than the Splattershot.
It's a question we'll have to answer another time for now.
Of course if we have Big Chum, there has to be little ones as well, and they do pop up.
Again, they pretty much look like smaller versions of the Chum so we're calling them
Mini Chum.
A frying pan is once again their only weapon, but they move much faster.
Unfortunately, we really don't see much of them during this video so we don't even
know how many Power Eggs they're worth.
If we had to guess though, it's likely only one.
These little guys neatly fit into the small annoyance that could potentially overwhelm
you category.
The Salmon Run segment only formally introduces us to one more Salmonid, and it's considered
a boss.
Known as the Steelhead, it's even larger than the Big Chum and is not equipped with
a frying pan.
At least, not like the others.
Instead, its back is lined with three tires and covered in metal straps along with the
typical rubber suit.
The Steelhead attacks thanks to the bit in its mouth that's connected to the pan on
top of its head.
By blowing into this bit, it fills a bag that's resting in the metal pan on its head.
Once it's filled, the bag is launched at the Inklings though it doesn't explode right
away.
Instead, players have about two seconds to get away as the bag prepares to explode.
Inklings will need strategy to take down a Steelhead since we assume it can't be splatted
normally.
During the video, the Inklings focus their attacks on the bag.
Filling it with their ink before launches likely causes it to backfire on the boss Salmonid.
The question we have is whether this only has to be done once or if it follows the rule
of threes from the original Splatoon's bosses.
We'd assume the latter, but there's footage of an Ink Charger taking down a Steelhead
in a single shot.
And we can't find any orange ink on it otherwise to indicate that this has been done before.
So maybe it only has to be done once?
Either way, splatting the Steelhead grants 20 Power Eggs to the one who did it in addition
to leaving behind three of the new Golden Eggs.
The Golden Eggs are actually the end goal of the Salmon Run and they seem to be rather
heavy as each Inkling is only able to carry one at a time.
They then must be returned to the center of the island and placed inside a basket.
And we can see that with each Golden Egg returned, a flag rises higher.
So it's clear that a round isn't finished until the flag reaches the top.
This could lead to a lot of fun situations where the boss is defeated, but there's
still a ton of Salmonid to fight through to finally finish everything.
It's not a matter of defeating every single enemy.
But this begs the question of what the rewards actually are for collecting the Golden Eggs.
Even the narrator teases this fact with a mystery object that looks like a Power Egg
or even a Golden Egg except there are four holes on top, almost like a bowling ball.
What exactly is this and what could its purpose be in the greater sense of Splatoon 2.
Unfortunately, there really isn't a way of knowing this yet.
However, we do have an idea of why players would want to collect Power Eggs during Salmon
Run.
And essentially, it's for the same reason as Hero Mode in the original Splatoon.
There, players couldn't use the equipment they used for multiplayer, just like it is
now in this new mode.
Instead, Power Eggs were collected in order to power up your weapons in various ways.
And we believe they'll have the same function here.
The biggest difference is that there are various builds to choose from based around the Splattershot,
Splat Roller, and Splat Charger.
By using these different classes in the mode, the Power Eggs you collect will go to increasing
their power, range, and perhaps unlocking sub weapons like the Ink Bomb we saw earlier.
So the more you play in that class, the better it gets.
We just wonder if there will be classes based around the Splat Dualies, Slosher, and Splatling
as well or if it'll just remain to those three.
But there are still two more varieties of Salmonid to cover.
The first is one that seems to stay back and in the water, preferring to fire a its weapon
which seems to work like the Sting Ray Special.
A closer look reveals what might be a simple Chum enemy sitting on top of a stack of cans
that makes it resemble a tentacle.
We don't think this is a boss Salmonid though if only because the Golden Eggs would fall
into the water.
A Splat Charger would definitely be useful against them though.
The last Salmonid type is something we totally believe is a boss.
At first, we only saw some kind of strange red object that emitted green circles to indicate
a blast radius.
It made us think that some Salmonid could have sub weapons of their own.
But that's case at all.
Later in the footage, we're provided at clear look at a huge Salmonid that hides beneath
the ink.
It doesn't walk like the others and instead surfaces with its jaws spread wide up to splat
whatever is above it.
We can see that it's more pinkish in color compared to the other Salmonid and has a belt
strapped around itself which is where the red indicator as well as what might be paint
cans are attached to.
Considering this warning and its method of attack, we wonder if this might be a subtle
reference to the end of Jaws where the shark also had objects stuck to him to help the
heroes see exactly where he was underwater.
This is Splatoon after all so it would make a lot of sense.
The Jaws Salmonid is quite terrifying and likely worth a few Golden Eggs.
Before we end this analysis, we just wanted to point out that the promotional art for
Salmon Run features both the Jaws and the Sting Ray Salmonid as well.
There aren't any other variations to see yet, but we wouldn't be surprised if there
were more revealed in the future with longer ranger weapons.
And with that, we've covered everything we could find in the reveal of the Salmon
Run mode in Splatoon 2.
It looks to be a lot of fun and something that everyone can just jump into no matter
the skill level.
But it'll be especially cool for those who can get a group of four friends together to
coordinate their own runs.
But what other new modes, if any, could Splatoon 2 be hiding?
We won't have to wait too long to find out now that we know of its July 21st release
date.
Of course, if we missed anything let us know in the comments.

My Plants in April 2017 | Update - Duration: 10:55.
Hi, I'm George :) Today I'm going to shoot the plants in April 2017
So I am a little late as I had no time
And it's never too late
So I'm filming my plants now, they're beautiful, you'll see
But some are not beautiful as I put it out
They get stress, but they will return
Let's see all the plants
In April 2017, let's go
We start with exotic plants, so
will show negative and not just positive
So, this is banana plant
Musa cavendish dwarf, but it was a little outside, and it was cold And wind
And the leaves were made like this
As you see, but it has nothing, you see that a new leaf is growing here
And it will be all right
I still have bananas here,
This is from Turkey
Here grew a leaf
And I am very happy
It feels good after replanting
There are also bananas from seed
and plant calla We have it there
We have the coffee plants there
look here
But first I will show the saguaro cactus plants
From Keith, hi Keith :) from Arizona
And they feel very good, they have grown thicker
So it's great
And coffee plants feel very good, they have large leaves
So, see how many are
Something like that ... paulownia
Only a few plants survived
And we have coffee here
and calla here
So the orchid that I bought recently
Another flower blossom is opened and here it opens
And I think she liked where I put it
I watered it on Wednesday, a week ago
And very well
But this orchid is still in reanimation, But this leaf grows
And I see there grows a new root
We wait next month, we'll see next month
Kalanchoe Blesfelidana, something like that, grew pretty good
Look how many leaves have increased, compared to the previous month
Here the avocado made roots
Such plants, bananas and dwarf palm tree
As you can see
And decorative bamboo, how beautiful it has grown
African violet multiplied by leaves
They grew a lot of leaves
This is the tree of jade, another set of leaves grow
We will see next month
But on this one to eliminate it?
I better leave it
Lucky bamboo
So I I cut all the leaves
And I replanted it, deci
I planted it in the ground, and so it will be better
I put here in this cup of water
And they will root, I will plant them in the ground
This is bay, and
Still has no increases, but I do not know why
This is African violet, has flourished again
Flowers are more beautiful compared
With January
And look how the leaves look, today I watered it
Pineapple still has no new growth, but it's still green, and you have to be very patient
Until you see a new raised leaf, so wait
Some cacti
There's nothing
And Chinese rose so small
With a broad leaf
And looks not good. But either
Here we have cacti
Is echinopsis
And in the middle opuntia
Mammalaria raised many babyes
so next
And this is subdenduda, Look how it looks
Today I have watered all the cactuses
But here we have blooming perlagonium
Very beautiful flower compared to this winter
Has flourished now very rich
Great, it has two flowers
And I like it
But here we have solanum from seed
And has new growths
And it has longer leaves and I like it
Must be watered abundantly and possibly bloom, make fruits
But they're toxic, be careful
Look how it looks at the moment
I can cut from here to grow more rotated
To make a form
Aloe has not increased much, but I expect to grow,
I changed his support
Do you see is iron?
Is longer
And I want to grow up there
will have to wait a long time to grow that way
But is it so tall? not
And has babyes here as you see
But this is the lemon grafted, the leaf suffered a little while it stood outside
But nothing is back, it's okay with it
Look, I put another support on it, and it should be growing up
And up here somewhere
I can cut this branch, and let this branch grow
but it is a not grafted lemon And stood outside
fell a few leaves, but it's ok
Will start to grow others
We will see next month how it will be
Kalanchoe daigremontiana
So, the leaves glisten, I like it
So, last month, I showed you that it had grown up to my fingers
See how much it has grown for a month
See how much it has grown for a month
Look what leaves, we'll see next month
How much it will grow
if necessary it will change support
Callisia fragrans, so this month
It has some new growths, but I will be a link here
Will grow a bit, and I will tie it up
Look what leaves, and look like that
here are sprouts
Look how many are
We will see next month
How much will grow, look what the beautiful leaf
Already bananas from seed
This and two more
Look what leaves are long
So they have new growths, look at this leaf
Here grows a new leaf
And in this part
Look what the leaves are long
And that's the biggest leaf ever
Let's see if there are any grows
We do not see until, but we wait
Specifically it will be
If it's hot and wet
This is a christmas cactus, I thought about changing the pot
And will look more beautiful in the new pot
Because when wet, I'm afraid I will not moisten the floor
And if I change his pot, he will have the saucer in the pot
Now wet but carefully
This mandarin suffered a little while outside, it was a cold wind
And many leaves broke
But soon will grow other new leaves
On these branches, and everything will be ok
We'll see how it looks over a month
I will show the negative not only the positive one
Look how it looks at the moment
Mandarin from seed has about 8-9 years
I moved oleander back inside and
Is very nice, outside in the cold did not suffer anything
So no stress anything
Is the plant that survives
But to frost I do not think it survives, but it has to be covered
It generally has no pretense
And christmas cactus
It does not have flower, but I like how the leaves shine
Here we are seeing new growths
And I'm happy, look how it looks
But next to him is a hybrid christmas cactus
Had a flower, here the flower is passing, we see here
As they look, there are actually different leaves
I replanted kiwi but all the leaves were dried
at pomegranate tree we also removed the leaves because it had pests And they have buds again now
This is a christmas cactus, it's about 30 years old
something like that
And has new growths
But it did not bloom
And cactus opuntia, I moved him into the house
And it returns
Thank you for watching, I hope the plants grow nicely

A Sneaky Way To Spot A Gold Digger - Duration: 6:18.
Hey, what's going on? I'm here with my
friend Kayla Wild. You might know her as
@blondejew from Instagram. And if
you don't, you should check out her
Instagram. I'm going to put a link to
that in the description below. Kayla
as she already knows, I'm having her on
today to talk about gold diggers because
she's got a few friends who have you
know been a gold digger from time to time.
May have you used some guys for their
money and I don't want that for you and
I want you to be able to spot that.
Kayla, thanks for doing this. Yeah.
Well, let's start with this. Have you
ever been a gold digger? Have you ever dated a
guy just for his money? Umm, I would say no
because I typically tend to have more
money than the guys I date.
Okay so guys are dating you to go for
your money. Maybe. I mean yeah there might be like
certain little tricks that they
talk to me about. Something like they
might have the guy that they're seeing
pick them up at their house
rather than uber there, so that they can
see what kind of car they're driving. Oh my god.
Sneaky stuff like that. That makes me sick.
Okay, what else? Maybe they'll like
try to you know talk about how much
money the guy has or even like what clothes
he's wearing. If they're like designer
clothes or maybe a designer watch or
something like that. So they're like really
in tune with what the guy has, what he's
wearing, what he's driving and some of
those more superficial things.
So if a guy would go and pick
up a girl who's a gold digger and he was
driving like a shitty car she'd be
like no I'm out. I mean she might go on
that one date but you'd probably never hear
from her again. I hope there's some
gold digger women watching right now.
And if you are, you're evil. Ok another
one that is pretty obvious but still
something you should be paying attention
to is if a girl never offers to split
for a meal or a drink. Never offers to
pay for anything. I think that's rude in
general, like I don't know why a girl
wouldn't even
offer. I like it when I'm on a date
with a girl and she even offers like on
a first date you know I'm gonna pay and
I want to be the gentleman and do
something like that. But when they don't
even offer it's either rude or just a sign
that they might be a gold digger. Absolutely.
Another one I think is a girl won't give
the guy a chance or go on a date with
him unless she has some kind of like
inkling or knows that the guy has money.
So you know whether she met the guy on
one of those dating apps or it's like a
sugar daddy app where she knows a guy
probably has money or if you're just
meeting a girl in person and she's not
seeing that you're wearing nice clothes
or she doesn't meet you somewhere maybe
fancy or doesn't have an idea that
you are or come from money, then
she's probably not going on a date
with you because she's looking for
those guys where she knows or has an
idea that hey he can be a guy that can pay for her.
Have you ever had guys that has offered
to pay or buy things for you like things
that would be of not just to purchase
and something that isn't like a nice
thing to do because you guys have been dating
for six months. You ever have a situation like
that? Yeah absolutely. I think guys tend to
do that pretty frequently, especially
guys that are trying to show off their
money. They'll offer to buy you some
extravagant handbag or like some jewelry
and I always say no because I mean I'm
not dating a guy for his money but I
think a telltale sign that a girl is
is if she accepts those gifts readily.
If she's really eager to get that
handbag by your offering or she's asking
you to buy her jewellery and you just
met her or you know she's mad that
you're not buying her some super lavish
expensive gift for her birthday that's
just over the top that's a pretty good
sign that she's in it for the money.
Well let's not catch that out I don't
want guys like all right i'll offer her
how often now handa be careful thank you
my taken she was those deciding not to
go but she's like okay I'll that $5,000
purse like no problem right alright so
what's another one maybe like if a girl
is really either to go over to your
place and she really wants to see where
you live and kind of check out your spot
but she's like not
sleeping with you she doesn't really
want to have sex to be there okay so
she's like eager she's like oh let's see
your place and your thing on the new
home about to get lucky but then she
comes over and she sees your place and
maybe it's not as nice as she wanted to
be and then she doesn't sleep with you
right so it's like showing that like
eagerness but then all of a sudden you
know takes a step back now I can
understand that actually happening if
you take a girl you don't know she's a
gold digger you need to keep you company
have a cold with your place and your
place is like a shithole then I can
understand why she wants to video but if
you're getting these signs that maybe
she's a gold digger maybe she's with you
for your money or something like that
and she doesn't see that he was eager to
come to your place she wants a rainy
live to see your spot yeah she wants to
see your lifestyle I think another one
is that you're spending time with the
girl and you guys are like hanging out
going in dates you're getting I don't
know nice dinners things like that but
she never really is trying you get to
know if you don't ever feel like there's
this connection you almost feel like
there's some sort of like wall between
you and the girls like she never have to
see about you what right exactly it's
just like very one-sided so I think that
would be a sign all set what are some
signs of a girl who is high maintenance
because I would imagine that any kind of
gold digger is going to be high
maintenance what do you think yeah
bulger dress will probably be like a
little bit flashy they like teen a dress
to the nines they like to have their big
heels on and everything's perfect and
they just I think they kind of tend to
like to show off their money like to
show off their gifts and just be a
little bit flashing yeah spend like one
and a half hours getting ready well I do
that and I'm not a gold digger most
girls what such a verge getting away
time from for most girls fire between an
hour to two hours i hope i hope i'm not
the only one without shower time by the
way that's just unbelievable cool that
was awesome great information i'm
starting up to new friends a golden
years i'm glad that you're not that's a
good thing you guys want to check out
more of kayla you can check it out
blonde jus I'm going to put that in the
description below and you can check it
out face Kayla thank you for having me

Julia Michaels - Issues - Cover by Xandra Garsem
I'm jealous, I'm overzealous
When I'm down, I get real down
When I'm high, I don't come down
I get angry, baby, believe me
I could love you just like that
And I could leave you just this fast
But you don't judge me
'Cause if you did, baby, I would judge you too
No, you don't judge me
'Cause if you did, baby, I would judge you too
'Cause I got issues
But you got 'em too
So give 'em all to me
And I'll give mine to you
Bask in the glory
Of all our problems
'Cause we got the kind of love
It takes to solve 'em
Yeah, I got issues
And one of them is how bad I need you
You do shit on purpose
You get mad and you break things
Feel bad, try to fix things
But you're perfect
Poorly wired circuit
And got hands like an ocean
Push you out, pull you back in
'Cause you don't judge me
'Cause if you did, baby, I would judge you too
No, you don't judge me
'Cause you see it from same point of view
'Cause I got issues
But you got 'em too
So give 'em all to me
And I'll give mine to you
Bask in the glory
Of all our problems
'Cause we got the kind of love
It takes to solve 'em
Yeah, I got issues
And one of them is how bad I need you
(I got issues, you got 'em too)
(I got issues, you got 'em too)
'Cause I got issues
But you got 'em too
So give 'em all to me
(You got 'em too) And I'll give mine to you

Artificial Intelligence Should Kick Your Assumptions in the Groin | MIT's Michael Schrage - Duration: 7:48.
I like to say that the real future of AI is not artificial intelligence but augmented
introspection.
All of these different theories of mind and theories of self create opportunities for
redefining what we want augmented introspection to be.
Look at Eric Byrnes transactional analysis: parent, child, adult.
Different ways of thinking about the self.
Freud: ego, id, super ego.
Let's use the enormous research that has gone on in psychology about the nature of the self,
The nature of the self as in the individual and the nature of the self as the self relates
to other people, and let's use technology to create versions of the self that allow
for more efficacious, more effective, more creative, more innovative, more productive
interactions.
I think it's important to draw a distinction between a cognitive tool and an enhancement
and a multiple self or a version of one's self that amplifies, exaggerates, improves,
enhances, augments some attribute that really matters to you.
So here's a simple way of thinking about this.
We have Google Maps.
It tells you a way to go.
You're in a hurry.
You're in such a hurry that you're prepared to dare I say cut corners and go through a
stop sign or two.
That's your bold impatient self.
Well, should Google Maps make a recommendation that supports your bold impatient self?
Or you're doing research on Amazon, you're looking for books to read on a certain subject,
you don't want the mainstream books that you, the typical average normal you ordered, what
about the you that looks to challenge your fundamental assumptions, to stretch your thinking?
What if you had a recommendation engine that recommended stuff for you to read that pushed
your thinking?
That challenged you?
That kicked your assumptions in the groin?
That's a different kind of a tool.
Now, what do these things have in common?
The self is about agency.
It's about choice.
You, however you want to define it, choose.
What I'm saying AI, machine learning and recommenders and smart recommenders bespoke customer recommenders
make different is that you can pick different frontiers, different boundaries of yourself.
What aspect of yourself do you most want to enhance and advance?
What aspect of yourself do you want to mitigate or suppress?
I think this cuts both ways.
I think we're going to see versions of the self that allow for greater compassion, less
impatience.
So I think it's important to think of the self in a symmetrical way.
What are the aspects we want to improve and augment?
What are the aspects that we wish to mitigate or ameliorate?
What's the common denominator?
Give people the choice.
This is why I like recommendation engines so much.
They're not called you have to do this engines, they're not you have to buy or watch this
engines, they're recommendation engines and you choose.
What I'm proposing is we're choosing from the span and portfolio of multiple versions
of who we really are or who we might become if that's what we want.
What I have found so fascinating in this is there's so much exciting and compelling and
groundbreaking work in psychology, sociology, behavioral economics about what is the self,
who is the self.
There's Nobel Prize winning work from Daniel Kahneman thinking fast and slow about the
immediate self and the more thoughtful slow process self.
There's Marvin Minsky, the late Marvin Minsky one of the pioneers in artificial intelligence
who talked about a society of mind and the modular brain.
There's Robert Kurzban.
There's Jonathan Haidt.
There's social psychologists and anthropologists who are looking at who is the self.
"What's the difference between one's self and one's identity?"
And you know what the common denominator to all of this is?
You are not you.
There is no such thing, according to empirical scientific research, there's no such thing
as the self.
In fact the metaphor that many people use is that your mind is like a committee, and
that depending upon time of day and your mood and how your brain, we're talking about brain
and mind is working, you might make one kind of decision or choice versus another.
One self or aspect of the self may dominate over another.
There's a wonderful essay by, again Nobel laureate Thomas Schelling on the challenge
of command, personal command, self command and he talks about all of these competing
selves as to whether you will follow this advice, go this pathway, honor a commitment,
et cetera.
My insight is let's use these different dimensions of self as a design opportunity.
Let's look at the society of mind and say what kind of digital tools should support
this kind of society?
Daniel Kahneman thinking fast and slow, what kind of nudges do we want to support the faster
brain versus the slower one?
Bits and slices of this are already becoming a reality.
It's easy to imagine scenarios where people who care about self-improvement, dare I say
selves improvement, look at their technologies and say I want to be a better leader.
I want to be a better manager.
I want to be a more persuasive or influential designer.
We begin with tools that enable to do that, but then we say well if I keep using these
sorts of tools in these sorts of ways I become a different self.
What does that self look like?
What kind of digital avatar or simulation or scenario can I create to see if that's
the kind of self I should be.
And that ties into the point about agency.
I want to see what my most compassionate self looks like.
I can use a textual analysis, sentiment analysis to become more influential in my emails, in
my chats, in my presentation, but does my becoming more influential mean that I'm also
becoming more manipulative?
I don't want to be manipulative.
These are the kinds of challenges that augmented introspection create.
Who do we want to be?
Who do we want to be?
What kind of people do we want to be?
The reason why I focus so much on employees in the workplace is that we live in a time
where we're not just concerned about losing our jobs to smarter machines, we're worried
about how do we create value?
How do we become more productive?
How does ten years of experience not be one year of experience ten times?
We've already seen a complete revolution of digital tools.
We're already seeing the first and second generation of bots and agents coming into
the workplace.
Completely understandable.
Not enough.
Not enough.
Self-improvement is going to come from selves improvement.
