Youtube daily report Dec 10 2017

Hey guys, Matt here for Science or Fiction.

Ever meet someone so happy that you figure they must be hiding some terrifying secrets?

You know, like your co-worker Brad.

Ugh.

Nothing good could come from hanging out with someone as happy as Brad, right?

Maybe I should give Brad a call.

A few years back headlines were running with the assertion that happiness may be contagious,

like a bizarro awesome version of the flu.

So can the happiness of others make you happy?

Is our best hope for happiness to hang out with happy guys like Brad who refuse to share

everyone's gloom that it's only Tuesday and the workweek is lasting FOREVER.

The idea that happiness is contagious comes from a study that followed more than 4,700

people for 20 years and asked them to periodically fill out questionnaires about their wellbeing.

After creating an emotional baseline, the researchers found that emotions fluctuated

based on the participant's social network.

And no, not we're not talking about their Snapchat followers.

For example, the study found that a good friend who lives about a half mile away can increase

happiness up to 42%, a neighbor can increase happiness 34%, and a spouse can only increase

happiness by about 8%.

Sorry guys.

The study found that happiness doesn't seem to spread in the workplace however, possibly

because if one person gets a promotion, someone else doesn't.

Hey wait a minute, does that mean Brad got the promotion?

Ugh, typical.

But some people have their doubts about the study's findings, arguing that it's possible

that happy people are just drawn to other happy people.

It could also be that people who live near each other share the same types of environments

that might increase happiness, like safe neighborhoods, affluence, or good employment.

In response to these arguments, the study's authors said that strangers sharing the same

environment, say a affluent, safe neighborhood, didn't have the same positive happiness

effect as neighbors who knew each other, concluding that it was the WHO and not the WHERE.

However, detractors remain, even publishing another study based on the same data set and

using the same correlation reasoning.

Using those methods, they were able find that non-transferable traits like height were also contagious.

They found short teenagers who befriended tall kids actually became taller over time.

Man, studies trolling other studies, it happens.

Other serious research has shown that it is actually biological factors rather than societal

ones that determines happiness.

One such study found that 35-50% of happiness was attributable to genetic factors like those

found in your brain, not your neighbor.

In the end, the happiness contagion findings weren't as conclusive as some headlines indicated.

That "contagion" may be more correlation and less causation, and if there is causation,

it could also be impacted by biological factors.

That's not to say that you can't become happy: It just means I might not have to hang

out with Brad to do so.

You just can't stop smiling, can you?

Yea, I know!

Anyway, what do you think?

Not about the dark secrets Brad is probably hiding behind that cold smile,

about what makes people happy!

Who makes you happier: your significant other or your friends?

Don't answer if your spouse is in the room.

Especially if she's a praying mantis.

Van Life & The Spiritual Lessons Of The Road ♥ Boho Diary | USA - Duration: 10:26.

I

Think one way or another each and every one of us is in search of something in our lives, and whether that is

happiness and joy or success I

Truly believe that if we peal all of those rewards away

What we're really searching for is the sense of purpose

It's really crazy that we're done

Yeah, you know weird way it feels like it's just yesterday that it started, but at the same time

It's been so long

I Really, don't don't really know what I expected

We kind of just dove into this really no expectations at all just because I don't know I think over time

we've we've learned to always just throw the expectations away and

Truly allow yourself to open yourself up to whatever comes

Before we left, I don't know if we understood that

That was not the beginning

It was just a part and this this was brilliant crazy mad

Adventure

Well

It's just another part in the big picture

Any journey anything has its downs that are balanced by its ups

The hard times seemed to fade and get replaced by the memories

I love the Sun on my face

Anytime I ever

Feeling stressed out or just

Out of it in a negative state of mind, I would love to just close my eyes and feel the sunlight on my face it

reminds me of

You know there's something greater than me out there

I Feel like in our lives

You know we're always so consumed with

How am I gonna be successful how am I gonna make money?

How am I gonna be have that security and this and this and this and there's all these little things that just consume us

When we step out of that idea of me me me and we look at this beautiful world and we look at that. We're all

we're all a big family and

I truly believe that until we all start treating each other like that and look at each other like that

This world is not going to get any better

We

Only have a finite amount of time on this planet

you can look at your life, and not even know for a guarantee if

You're gonna wake up

So why not why not just go so

We as a family of this world of this earth need to stand up for peace we need to stand up for compassion and kindness

towards one another

We need to realize that this time right now is so

crucial we have to start thinking about our choices and the consequences that come with our decisions and

Start encouraging and helping one another rather than judging one another and pointing fingers at one another

We have to help race each other up together

Why not find out what you can do with your energy

And make it make it matter put your time into something that fills you

We're in Bolder, Colorado, it's so cold we have no winter clothes!

Think having the opportunity to meet so many people

that have

Included what we do into their lives and learning certain stories about how it affected them it truly

was so humbling

Finally so many years of me just being you know lost in life. I finally feel like I'm on the right path and

I truly realized that when I

began to learn how to open myself up open myself up to the universe and not resist I

find that when you let go and you let go of that resistance, and you truly open yourself up to what is

That's what will help you find that path

we're always focused on our YouTube channel, its bigger than that it's bigger than this tour the road trip that videos to YouTube this

Nonsense social media all the things that we end up getting so sucked in and our little bubble to focus on because it's really

About who embraces it it's about their lives

It's actually not about us at all

And even to know that something that we created or something that we put our energy into has played a tiny part in helping somebody

Along their journey is very special

Broccoli man

Third-last event of the tour

We're tired, excited, this guy is really excited

Slept at a rest stop, so we're just feeling little

It's almost like a page is being turned as we drive back

And it's at those moments when those pages turn on that it's really important look back at what you've done

Look forward at what's to come and

smile

No matter what it was no matter how hard it was it's a fresh start again and again and again

Life has the most wonderful way of offering you constant moments for a fresh start

But I think if you focus your mind and their time of the idea of how can I

Use my life to embed or others whether that is people or weather that is animals or this earth

How can I be of service why why was I brought here on this planet?

Why was I given this beautiful life?

You know it wasn't just to to pay bills and to go home and watch TV and repeat the same routine over and over again

So as we go through our lives. I think it's it's part of that journey. It's part of our human growth

to be in search of that purpose

The next time that I feel the walls pushing inward in life becoming

difficult

You gotta remember this you don't have to live there, I don't have to live anywhere

You can just become what you need to be and save yourself

There's so much beauty in the world

We gotta just you gotta go get it

MAJOR NEWS: Sheriff Arpaio Will Run For Arizona Senate Race! – It's A 'GO!' From President Trump! - Duration: 2:28.

MAJOR NEWS: Sheriff Arpaio Will Run For Arizona Senate Race!

– It's A 'GO!'

From President Trump!

"I am serious, seriously, seriously considering running for the U.S. Senate," – Arpaio.

Another Republican is going to run for the Senate making the race even more filled with

Conservative candidates which of course makes it more interesting.

In a recent interview, former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio hinted that his aims for

an office in Arizona are set up high.

During an interview with Daily Beast, he was questioned whether he had intentions to a

candidate for the Congress now that Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ) is resigned on January 31 and

his place is left open.

"No, I would not consider it, but I am considering running for the Senate, Flake's seat,"

Arpaio answered.

Anyway, Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) has decided not to run for reelection.

Via Breitbart:

"Franks announced his resignation from Congress Thursday after two staff members accused him

of "inappropriate behavior."

Although this is the first time Arpaio has made clear his intention to run for Senate,

the former sheriff hinted that he would seek political office at some point in the future

after President Trump pardoned him for criminal contempt of court in August.

The president announced that he would pardon Arpaio for his "admirable service" the

country for serving in the Army, working in law enforcement as a police officer and then

as a special agent for the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and serving as sheriff

for Maricopa County, Arizona."

For those of us who can't recall, Sheriff Arpaio was hit with made-up criminal charges

by a Judge appointed by Obama in July 2015, and now that Trump is in charge, Arpaio can

aim high as he always does, not worrying about another hit from God-knows-where.

"Sheriff Joe Arpaio is now 85 years old, and after more than 50 years of admirable

service to our nation, he is a worthy candidate for a presidential pardon," Announced the

White House after President Trump pardoned Arpaio.

This is getting very interesting, now that President Trump pardoned Sheriff Arpaio who

is known for his very long career and is known as a people's person.

Stay tuned for more further reports on this matter.

50 Tiny Ways to Improve Minecraft - Duration: 11:53.

For many, it's the small, minute details in a game that brings out the life in it's imaginary world

Minecraft is no exception and it's chock full of features that are just begging for a little

extra refinement.

I'm SimplySarc, and welcome.

This is 50 tiny things that would improve Minecraft...

1- This exit portal right here, is sloppy.

An important gameplay element, that every players sees...

Is made of bedrock.

The entry portal is so special it has it's own block and it even has it's own theme song!

Bedrock, is a placeholder, a substitute till the real block shows up.

The exit portal is the sketchy back door, but it should really have just as grand treatment

as when you enter the end.

2- This exact same mindset applies to the portals cousin, the end gateway.

It just feels somewhat rushed and incomplete to not create a new block for the occassion.

3- While complaining about the end, another offender is the end crystal.

The texturing on this is pretty basic, where it gives off the vibe that you're testing

an early alpha version of the end, that hasn't been finalized yet.

4- The compass is a good idea, that needs tweaking.

A long standing issue is that it's often not very helpful.

It points towards initial world spawn; always.

Problem is alotta people's homes aren't at the world spawn, they're at their beds.

And it'd be a lot more useful if the compass pointed towards that instead.

5- There are dozens of enchantments in Minecraft.

But when you've got a chest full of books, it's quite a task scanning for what you need.

A very nice solution to this is giving enchanted books custom sprites depending on what their

enchantment actually is.

6- Now, if the books have custom sprites, then of course the tools, weapons and armor

are gonna need them too.

Slight visual tweaks would be really cool for identification and a nice sense of individuality

for each item.

7- Stuff made of gold and iron can be smelted back down into nuggets.

But it's a rip off!

A prisitine golden chestplate, worth 72 gold nuggets returns just...

1.

A much fairer approach is to return nuggets based on the condition of the item.

8- Mushroom islands host the native mooshroom.

But there's not much else there, so perhaps a new mushroom mob is in order.

Maybe a chicken, we'll call it a shrooster.

9.

Everything drops meat nowadays.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if flowers started dropping kebabs.

This has left pigs somewhat obsolete.

To reincentivize pig farming, they should spawn larger liters than other animals.

10- Not only is there more meat, but also just food.

With so many options, it's all turned into more of a chore than a challenge.

Problem is, there's not much difference between each food, beyond saturation points.

Maybe slower and faster eat times would individualize each item a bit more.

11- Most mobs have spawn eggs, but for some reason snow and iron golems don't.

12- Speaking of golems, they tend to take quite a beating.

It'd be pretty neat if snowballs and iron ingots healed their respective golem.

13- Lotta stuff grows in the game, so why not have mossy cobblestone and bricks also

spread over time?

Maybe when they're damp they'll spread to adjacent blocks?

14- Polar bears are ok, however there are in fact no brown or black bears in Minecraft.

Taiga and mega taiga biomes would become slightly scarier if there were angry mama bears abound.

15- Also, bears are an apex predator at the top of the food chain.

Wolves hunt sheep and ocelots hunt chickens, so perhaps polar bears should hunt down literally

anything that dares move in front of them.

16- Rabbits are known to breed rapidly and often invasively.

Strangely however, they need our help to get the job done.

If rabbits initiated love mode on their own, it could present a new challenege to players,

where swarms of bunnies decimate your farmland.

17- In the spirit of realism, the reanimated, walking pile of bones, also known as skeletons,

shouldn't float in water.

In fact, due to their lack of buoyancy, it'd make more sense if they just sunk to the bottom.

18- Spiders can climb walls, but they look really dumb doing it.

When climbing they really ought to rotate their bodies around.

19- For some reason, wither skeletons drops regaular bones.

Even though they're clearly scorched.

For an upgrade, they should drop 'charred bones' that create an ultra potent fertilizer.

20- Hunting in Minecraft is pretty easy, mostly because animals are a little bit daft.

That's why they should act like a herd.

If a member gets hurt, the others should scatter and disperse away from the instigator.

This might result in some more interesting hunting techniques in the game.

21- Swamps generate unique looking trees, but not their own log.

Everyone loves building with wood, so a new plank type would be adored by all.

22- The hoe has earned a bit reputation of being largely useless.

To expand and stay inline with farming, the hoe could also destroy leaf blocks in bulk,

a handy trick to clear away left over canopies pretty quickly.

23- Oddly, iron golems have been broken for a really, really long time.

They were initially introduced to protect villagers from zombies, but due to how they

spawn, they almost never show up.

It's true!

Think of all the villages you've ever passed.

How many of them have actually had a resident golem?

Probably very, very few.

They spawn based on population and door count, something natural villages rarely ever meet.

This has resulted in a bizzare phenomenon where the spawning mechanic exists almost

exclusively to serve exploitative behavior, rather than prevent a village from becoming

ghost town in it's first night.

For this reason, it'd make a lot sense to rethink how golems appear in the world.

24- Minecraft's A.I. isn't... the best.

It's so exploitable and predictive that it can be hoodwinked pretty easily.

One example of this is how mobs can't jump gaps.

A single block gap is kryptonite to nearly everything in the game.

For increased robustness, clever mobs like skeletons and villagers should be able to

make similar jumps that the player can.

25- Over time, villagers have gotten more specific jobs.

They can be weapon smiths, fletchers, cartographers and fishermen.

These new jobs should be better reflected with new clothing and textures.

26- At their inception, and likely before the end was conceived, endermen had green

eyes.

This was changed when the enderdragon was added and ever since, they've had a magenta

theme.

It's long been assumed this is because the endermen are under the dragon's influence.

For continuity, endermen should revert to their green scheme when there is no active

enderdragon in the world.

It'd tell a nice, subtle story.

27- Parrots can't currently reproduce.

For a diversion from the status quo, parrots could lay eggs.

Parrots are known to rarely produce young, so for extra depth, they might only lay a

single egg every so often.

28- Status effects are a very real danger out in the Minecraft world.

Milk clears all effects, but cows aren't known for their spelunking.

So maybe water bottles could offer a similar remedy?

Water's quite easy to find, so instead of outright clearing the potion, it could dillute

down it's effects, with a moderate cooldown between sips.

29- Everyone likes coloring things, so name tags should be dyeable!

The functionality to color mob names is already there!

30- Villages were one of the very first pre-generated structures in the game.

This means a lot of their design is somewhat dated and needs modernizing.

Horizontal logs could be used in farmlands, real anvils could be placed outside blacksmiths

and lamp posts could use, actual lamps.

31- Everyone despises baby zombies.

They're super speedy, fit through tiny holes other monsters can't, they refuse to burn

in sunlight and most annoyingly they are often extremely hard to hit because of tallgrass.

A simple tweak would be letting swords swing through things like grass and flowers.

32- Blazes originally had a much shorter detection range.

This is however no longer the case.

Not only can they spot you from a lengthly 48 blocks away, but they also snitch to their

friends.

A very real oversight here is while they can see you, you can't hear them from that distance.

Because ghasts have always had a massive range, they by design, make a racket no matter the

distance.

If a ghast has spotted you, you'll know.

But because blazes were retroactively altered, they forgot to increase their volume!

Having no audible feedback that you're in danger is a pretty big flaw.

33- Blasting around with fireworks and elytra is a lot of fun.

This same mechanic could be applied to other modes of transport, such as boats and minecarts.

Because who doesn't want a jet ski?

34- Another older feature is book and quills.

While handy for writing your manuscript, it's extremely cumbersome being unable to edit

text without deleting everything after it.

35- Approved by a developer themselves is pigmen and quartz.

The nether is arguably much safer than the overworld, it's just pigmen and gravel.

For an increase in pressure, pigmen ought to jealously guard quartz.

The ore is everywhere and drops lots of XP with nothing to stop you.

Were the quartz guarded by a hoard of angry pig monsters, that might make you think twice

about taking it.

36- Nether portal frames can be small or large, but a step further would be irregular borders,

where the frame can have as many sides as you want!

37- Punching stuff with your fist is a very large part to Minecraft, however some blocks

are distinctly... sharper than others.

It'd make a lot of sense if sharp blocks like cactus and glowstone hurt you if hit with

a bare hand.

38- A living, breathing world is excellent for immersion.

Little details make the world believable.

With that thought, why not have flowers open and close depending on the time of day?

39- Wood variations are increasing, with more and more decor options.

One feature still missing however is chests.

Storage room organization can get quite messy, so more distinct containers would be a godsend

for many.

40- Mycellium and grass battle it out for dirt's heart.

To expand further, maybe mycellium should overtake other organic material such as mossy

bricks, vines and leaves?

Maybe those islands are isolated to keep the fungus at bay?

41- For even more subtle visual cues, leaves in danger of decaying could perhaps display

that with an animation, where leaf particles begin to drop from the block.

42- To return to textures, slight block variation is always a nice detail.

That's why spawners should look different depending on where you find them.

Spawners can be found in 5 places; Dungeons; Mineshafts; Strongholds; Nether Fortresses;

and Woodland Mansions.

43- Sponges are great but to re-use them they must be cooked.

This feels a little weird, so instead they should dry on their own.

If placed somewhere hot, like near lava, deserts, fire or in the nether they should just eventually

revert to normal by themselves.

44- There's not much reason to use different fuels.

There are some very distinct 'Best fuels', so perhaps different fuels should smelt in

different ways.

Maybe some are long lasting but slow, and others speedy, yet burn out quickly.

45- You probably have a favourite cat.

Tuxedo, ginger, siamese or maybe even just wild ocelot.

What you get is up to chance, so maybe the type of fish you use should decide instead?

46- Also, cats don't like water.

It'd make sense then that ocelots would avoid water like the plague.

But maybe they can be negotiated into a boat?

47- Giving the player more excuses to blow holes in stuff is always a good thing.

So to add more fun to the underground, mineshafts should occasionally spawn TNT blocks with

a tempting lever that you know exactly what to do with.

48- Every group has their occassional weirdos and Minecraft is definitely no exception.

Collecting mobs can be fun, however some mobs are dangerous and will not be complicit with

your plans.

To solve this, on very rare circumstances, a monster might spawn passive, with no interest

in hurting you.

49- A minor inconvenience with enchantment tables is that they won't hang onto items.

Not only would this be handy, but it could also double as a cool little display.

50- Items despawn after 5 minutes.

However, there's no way to tell when it's gonna happen.

A common trick in video games is to have the item flash when it's time is almost up.

This way you get a bit of warning beforehand.

That's it!

Those were 50 tiny things that might improve Minecraft.

Did you have a favourite?

Or do you have a completely different little feature that you'd like to see added?

Either way, I hope you enjoyed, I've been your one and only SimplySarc and thank you

very much for watching.

Do We Really Grow in Winter or Just Harvest? (the truth about season extension) - Duration: 4:19.

Does growing under double cover here in zone 5 really extend our growing season for cool weather crops,

or does it just keep them alive so that we can harvest them in winter?

I'll answer this question in today's video.

Let's start by looking at the impact double cover has on our growing season.

Though it's late fall now, let's start in the spring.

Without cover, I start planting cool weather crops like carrots, spinach, lettuce, and kale outside in early April.

Of course, that's assuming the snow has melted and the ground has thawed.

And, in the fall, we see growth in our cool weather crops certainly through October and maybe into early November.

And though some crops may survive longer than that, we typically don't see new growth.

So, that's roughly 7 months of growth for our cool weather crops.

Now let's contrast that to what we see under double cover.

We start our winter crops from seed starting in late summer and ending in early fall.

We ignore the "days to maturity" seed packet recommendation and allow for much more time

because growth slows significantly at this time of year as daylight hours and temperatures drop

as we get closer to the winter solstice.

Even with everything slowing down, however, we typically see at least some growth under double cover through mid-December.

In fact, this year we had several unseasonably warm and sunny days in late November and early December that led to a very noticeable growth spurt.

And the winter before last, we saw growth into early January.

But, again, mid-December is when plants typically stop growing,

and we then have a 2 month period, from mid-December through mid-February,

when it's too cold and we don't have enough daylight hours for plants to grow.

During this period the plants are dormant, we don't have to vent as often, we never have to water,

but we continue to harvest on days that are warm enough and sunny enough for plants to thaw.

During this period, we lose some of our less cold hardy crops, like mustard greens, to the cold.

But most of our crops survive the winter, including kale, collards, spinach, carrots, red veined sorrel, and sometimes lettuce.

And though we have this 2 month down-period where we're not growing,

the good news is with double cover we can grow 10 months of the year.

So, what happens in mid-February to allow our plants to start growing again?

First, our daylight hours rise above 10, which is critical,

and, second, it gets warm enough under cover to stimulate growth again.

In mid-February, here in the hoop house, it's effectively early spring.

Not only do our winter crops start growing again, we also start planting cold hardy crops like carrots, spinach, and kale

outside under double cover in mid-February.

That's about 6 weeks earlier than we'd plant them without cover.

So, growing under double cover not only allows us to harvest cool weather crops through the winter.

It also extends our growing season from 7 months to 10 months.

As much as we enjoy growing our own food, that extra 3 months means the world to us,

and we absolutely love our fresh garden harvests in winter.

Speaking of harvests, be on the lookout next Sunday for my December harvest video.

If you enjoyed this video, please give it a thumbs up.

And if you haven't already, please subscribe for more videos on how to grow a lot of food

In Defense of Columbus: An Exaggerated Evil - Duration: 28:52.

The best TV shows and movies are the ones with characters who are faced with moral quandaries

that explore the gray area between good and evil.

People like to imagine what they would do in those situations and can usually easily

see themselves on either side.

In real life though, we fit people into black and white categories.

A decision is either right or wrong and someone is either good or evil.

We often want to categorize people so much that we will create a fictionalized version

of them in order to shove them into one of these two boxes.

Columbus is one of those people.

You probably have one of two views of Columbus.

You might think that he was a brave explorer who proved the world was round and by doing

so, discovered the United States, and if that's the case – Congratulations on graduating

elementary school!

Now, I know every grown up says this, but a lot of things are about to change for you,

and not just for you personally but for what you think you know, so… enjoy it while it

lasts.

But odds are you probably think…

Columbus was an incompetent buffoon who never even set foot in America.

Christopher Columbus was an idiot and dum-dum.

He got lost coming here, and he's the one who called us Indians because he thought he

was in India.

He was a doofus who was terrible at math.

Yes!

I'm one of history's greatest monsters!

Whoa that's quite the contrast really.

Well let's take a look at the facts and see if we can't figure out which ones have

been misunderstood, misattributed, exaggerated, or straight up fabricated.

Wow that was a lot of big words, I feel like Johnny Cochran, only way underpaid…

Anyway, might as well start at the beginning, right?

Columbus couldn't have discovered that the Earth was round, because in his time, it was

already common knowledge.

Globes for sale, perfectly ordinary globes for sale!

The way Adam phrases this makes it seem like Columbus thought he was the first person to

conclude that the world was round.

He didn't, nor did he claim to.

People since ancient times knew the world was round, nobody thought the world was flat.

Some people probably thought the world was flat, some people today think the world is

flat, some people are idiots.

But I also want to bring attention to those "perfectly ordinary globes."

Globes weren't exactly common back then, in fact, this is the oldest surviving globe

in the world, made in 1493, completely separate from Columbus.

Here's a question for you, what continent are we looking at?

You don't have to answer now, but just tuck that thought away in the back of your mind.

This projection of people saying what they think Columbus thought doesn't end, especially

when it's ridiculous.

My math says that the Earth is teeny tiny and shaped like a pear… and at the top,

it has a succulent nipple.

He actually believed that?

Yes!

I actually believed this!

Do I actually have to talk about this…

No, he didn't think the world was shaped like a pear with a nipple on top.

In fact, I had never heard that claim before, but luckily, Adam gives us his source.

Who actually never says that Columbus thought the world was shaped like a pear.

In fact, she says "putting all of this together, Columbus reasoned that the world was shaped

like a ball with a breastlike protuberance."

Breastlike protuberance…

On his third voyage, he wrote a rather poetic letter describing how "he felt himself not

just crossing the ocean but going up it.

Had he reached the very tip of the protuberance, he would have sailed straight into the Terrestrial

Paradise."

So what does he mean by that?

Well back in the day, maps were often oriented with East on top, not North.

And at the very far end of the east, or top of the map, you would find the Earthly Paradise,

also known as the Garden of Eden.

This paradise was often depicted as sitting on top of a protuberance.

In one letter in 1498, Columbus ponders if this depiction might be accurate.

And then never mentions it again.

The Earth is tiny, and also a pear, give me money please.

This man is an idiot.

See what he did there?

He took something that Columbus poetically pondered once during his third voyage and

made it look like he presented this idea to the King and Queen of Spain.

They didn't fund his expedition just to make him go away.

The Ottomans had just defeated the Byzantines and froze Europe out of the spice trade.

And since Portugal was going all in on conquering Africa and Spain had finally kicked the Moors

off of their peninsula, they were ready to get in on the whole exploration and colonization

game.

So what about all this whole "thinking the world was tiny" thing that people keep repeating?

Yeah that's not true either.

People knew the circumference of the Earth, more or less.

Turns out Columbus went with the less, but stick with me.

What they didn't know was how big the ocean was, or how big Asi- remember when I asked

you what continent we were looking at on that globe?

It's Asia.

Here's his globe projected onto a piece of paper, and here's a slightly less confusing

version of that same projection, they thought Asia was much larger.

But this isn't the guy I want to talk about since he's not really connected to Columbus.

This is the map Columbus was going by, made by Toscanelli in 1474.

This is China on the globe we saw earlier, this is China on Toscanelli's map.

It was Toscanelli who told Columbus "the said voyage is not only possible, but it is

true, and certain to be honorable….

And to yield incalculable profit."

Miscalculate the distance to what you wrongly think is Japan, even though people have been

calculating the circumference of the Earth pretty well for centuries using sticks in

the ground and shadows and math.

He calculated the journey from Spain will take him just 21 days.

He underestimates the distance by 7000 miles.

What's striking about this is that any educated person would know that Columbus was wrong.

I guess by "any educated person" they mean not Toscanelli, who is widely considered

to be one of the great cartographers of his time.

So much so that Adam throws this in the background to make it look like Columbus wasn't listening

to Toscanelli – when he clearly was.

It's actually pretty good attention to detail that the map Columbus was pointing to in that

Mankind scene is Toscanelli's map.

So where did they get that whole "7000 miles off" thing?

This is what Columbus was aiming for, Cipangu, which is supposed to be Japan.

Obviously, this isn't where Japan really is – but that is where everyone thought

it was.

So it wasn't Columbus's calculation of the distance that was off, it was 'any educated

person's' positioning of Japan.

Columbus was also hoping that there would be uncharted islands off of the east coast

of Japan, so when he landed here, that's what he thought found.

And died thinking he had made it to India.

People saying that you're not in Asia?

Insist that you are.

He didn't think he was in China, he didn't think he was in India, he thought he was somewhere

new… off of the coast of Japan, but still somewhere new.

Remember, he landed here, which…

there is no land on the map right here, so what was he supposed to think?

And here are the actual land masses.

Columbus landed on the island of Hispaniola, which is 7000 miles away from Japan.

That's where they got that number.

So I suppose he kind of got lucky that he accidentally discovered some new land.

He didn't discover America, and he didn't prove the Earth is round.

Christopher Columbus was a savage man who didn't discover North America, didn't

prove the world is round.

This is something you've heard everywhere and is probably already down in the comments.

Whenever Adam says America, he's referring specifically to the United States… which

is a little strange.

The Some News segment is a little more honest by saying NORTH America.

Which is true, he never landed in North America.

So let's about the guy who did, Leif Erikson.

In 985 the Vikings set up two settlements in Greenland - if you didn't already know

this, the name was just a sales technique to get more settlers.

Greenland is very much not-green.

Which meant that the settlers there had to travel further west in the hopes of finding

timber.

Erikson's winter camp at L'Anse aux Meadows, Newfoundland lasted one year before being

abandoned.

The Greenland settlements were mostly forgotten by the rest of Europe because of the Black

Plague, and they were finally abandoned in 1408.

I personally have a problem with people who say that the Vikings discovered America first.

Imagine it's 2010 and someone offers to sell you bitcoin for ten cents a piece.

You decline it because it's stupid and worthless.

Now it's 2017 and they're worth $10,000 each and you tell everyone about how you could

have been rich because you knew about bitcoin back in the day but never actually did anything

with it.

Okay, now swap out bitcoin for America and extend the time scale to 500 years.

The Vikings didn't discover America first.

They stumbled upon it looking for timber, stayed for a year, but then left.

And not only did they never come back, but they just plain forgot about it.

Their find amounted to nothing.

Columbus' discovery, on the other hand, opened the world to two entire continents

and changed world history forever.

On his third voyage, in 1498, he landed here, which he named the Gulf of Paria.

And then, he named all of this Paria.

This is the Terrestrial Paradise he was talking about in that previous letter.

He describes that the "[Land of Paria] is a mighty continent that was hitherto unknown."

So not only did he know he found something new, but he was describing the South American

continent.

He believed that the Caribbean islands, as well as this new continent, were only slightly

to the south east of Asia.

Which is also what people like Amerigo Vespucci believed.

Amerigo Vespucci is an interesting character in our story.

Because he was full of-.

He straight up made up two voyages, so historians take what says with a grain of salt.

But while he was in the service of Portugal in 1502, he was mapping the coast of the continent

and realized he was further south than anything previously mapped in Asia.

So he too thought that this must be a previously unknown fourth continent.

But his letters don't account for huge river deltas that would have been impossible to

miss had he actually been there so...

This was four years after Columbus said that Paria was a hitherto unknown continent.

And just like Columbus, Amerigo thought that this continent lied directly to the south

of Asia.

So why is it called America?

Well the usual story goes that Amerigo beat Columbus to the punch when it came to publishing

his findings and that the name was settled on in 1507 by the Waldseemüller map.

Unfortunately, it's just not that cut and dry.

This is the map, the Universalis Cosmographia.

And here is the new, fourth continent, named America, the female latinized version of Amerigo's

name.

But up here to the north, we see a smaller fifth continent named Parias, the latinized-

you get it.

Waldseemuller didn't settle the dispute or settle on a name, he credits both Columbus

and Amerigo in the top left corner.

There are still a few interesting things to note on this map.

Like this, this is still Cipangu which is supposed to be Japan, and there are a number

of places on the east coast of America which are also on the east coast of India.

Which shows that educated people still weren't entirely sure if America and Asia were connected

or not.

Anyway, the name Parias slowly falls out of favor after they realize that North and South

America are actually connected.

Though even in 1587, Mercator named the northern half "America… or New India"… so you

know, it took a while for people to settle on a name.

So now that we've cleared all of that up – kind of – and we're in America, we

need to talk about how primitive or not-primitive the Native Americans were.

People on both sides tend to lump all Native Americans in together.

They're two huge continents spanning thousands of miles, what's true for one tribe isn't

necessarily true for another.

If one tribe had mapped the stars and created an almanac, that doesn't mean they all did.

If one tribe didn't use the wheel, that doesn't mean they all didn't.

Some of them did invent the wheel, they just didn't use it for hauling because they hadn't

domesticated draft animals yet.

I would have been fine with that statement, until he said the word "yet."

This implies that given time they would have eventually, when no, they wouldn't have…

ever.

Not because they're intellectually inferior or anything like that, but because they had

a really difficult spawn point.

There are no draft animals – or work or pack animals – in the Americas.

There are no horses, donkeys, or camels.

And because of that, they had reached somewhat of a cap on their civilization tech tree,

you can't advance and have large cities without animals.

In fact, with the exception of the llama in Peru, they didn't have any domesticated

animals.

There were no cows, pigs, or chickens, which left the Native Americans incredibly vulnerable

and susceptible to disease.

Again, not because of any genetic inferiority, but simply because of their difficult starting

location.

Since Europeans and Asians had been living in close proximity with animals for centuries,

they had built up an immunity to all sorts of animal diseases, like cow pox, chicken

pox, and the various swine and avian flues.

So on Columbus's second voyage, when small pox was introduced to the New World, it burned

through the entire continent killing 90% of the native population well before they had

even heard of a European.

This was inevitable and unavoidable.

Whether it was Columbus, anyone who followed him, or a Chinese explorer coming the other

way.

It was also unintentional at this point.

The small pox blankets thing happens way later in the 1700s.

The point is by 1600, 90% of the native population had died, so when the first British colonists

arrived in North America in 1607 and 1620, they found the land to be mostly uninhabited.

Pre-Columbian population numbers for North America vary widely, from 50 to 100 million.

But everyone pretty much agrees on the 90% disease mortality number, which means that

we're talking about 5 to 10 million in 1600, spread across the entire continent.

Before you go thinking that that's exceptionally bad, just remember that only 150 years before

Columbus, Europe lost around 50-60% of its population to the Black Plague.

These epidemics just kind of happened.

If you don't count the quarter million Taino people who lived there already.

Occupied, someone lives here.

Right, I know this part, he thought he made it to India.

Ugh we've covered this already.

What a silly mistake.

Yes, if by silly you mean brutal.

Brutal is not a synonym for silly.

The Taino treated Columbus and his crew with the utmost hospitality.

Hug?

We need reinforcements!

That's not how it happened, Columbus didn't freak out and get reinforcements.

On his first trip he bounced around a few islands, left 40 people to establish a fort,

and returned home to report his findings.

The King and Queen sent him back after only 6 months with the expressed purpose of establishing

more permanent settlements.

So what did Columbus think when he first saw the natives?

Did enslave and brutalize the nice people he found.

There are journal entries literally from him describing the natives being kind and bringing

him things, having no knowledge of guns, so they'd be easy to enslave.

Okay that is a lot to unpack.

But this is something that people bring up all the time, that in his own words or in

his own journals he said this or that.

The most common quotes used are the ones he shows, so let's start with this one about

them making good servants.

What do you notice about this quote?

How about the fact that it's neither the beginning nor end of the sentence, there's

clearly more to it.

So we're going to have to look it up.

And here it is.

"It appears to me, that the people are ingenious, and would be good servants and I am of opinion

that they would very readily become Christians, as they appear to have no religion.

They very quickly learn such words as are spoken to them."

In full context, the word 'servant' could mean slave, or 'servant of god,' or 'subject

of the crown.'

When they just cut out the 'ingenious, good servant' part, it only means slave, they

remove any context and any doubt.

But these are Columbus's own words, we have to take them at face value since we can't

figure out what he really meant, right?

Do you see where I'm going with this?

These weren't his own words, because his name wasn't really Christopher Columbus,

it was Cristoforo Colombo.

Oh look, what do we have here?

Yes, I really do have that kind of time on my hands.

Here's what we're looking for, from October 11, 1492.

Now we have to translate it.

Let's just shove it in Google translate and see what we get.

They must be good servants and of good wit that I see that very quickly he says everything

he told them…

Blah blah.

Obviously google isn't the best translator since it doesn't carry meaning very well.

But it takes some linguistic gymnastics to get from "they must be good servants and

of good wit" to "the people are ingenious and would be good servants."

They picked the absolute worst, most biased translation to quote as "journal entries

literally from him."

Fun fact, the Italian translation of his journals don't have the word servant at all, instead

they translate it as servant of God or…

For more on how bias can influence how the same words can be translated to mean wildly

different things, might I suggest watching the movie Arrival.

Don't worry, I'm not going to do this process for every single quote.

But this is another one people like to refer to, "I could conquer the whole of them with

fifty men, and govern them as I please."

Here's the Spanish, and here is what Google translate says.

"Because with fifty men they are all subjugated, and it will make them do everything they want?"

Okay that ending doesn't make all that much sense… but I can tell you what it doesn't

say.

Conquer them and govern them as I please.

But just to be sure, let's look at a different translation of the same quote.

"For with fifty men they can all be subjugated and made to do what is required of them."

The words conquer or govern don't appear anywhere here either.

Again, they picked the worst possible translation to highlight.

Again, in full context, in this section Columbus is asking what the King and Queen want done

with the natives – suggesting that fifty men would be all that is required to hold

the island.

There is nothing about governing them as he pleases.

And while we have Columbus's journals open, there's one more thing I'd like to point

out.

Let's say I brought a bunch of Indians back to Europe to show off, and most of them died

on the boat ride over.

Because that's true, I did that, that happened.

Just say that you only meant to bring six in the first place.

Okay, well let's see what he has to say in his own words.

Conveniently, the sentence in question is right after that first quote we looked at.

"If it please our Lord, I intend at my return to carry home six of them to your Highnesses,

that they may learn our language."

This was written two months before his journey home.

So unless they're implying that Columbus had a time machine and was able to change

what he said from the start…

And there's yet another aspect to this I want to bring up.

None of Columbus's original journals survive.

All we have are transcriptions of his journal written by someone who has probably already

been mentioned in the comments below.

Bartolome de las Casas.

People often, incorrectly, say that las Casas traveled with Columbus.

Nope.

He arrived in Hispaniola in April 1502 with Nicolas de Ovando.

Three months before Columbus's fourth voyage arrived in the New World.

As far as we can tell, they never crossed paths.

Bartolome de las Casas was a noble who was given an encomienda in the New World.

Encomienda was the Spanish feudal system of lords and peasants.

And that's what the natives were, peasants, not slaves.

Columbus said he wanted to subjugate them, which means turn them into subjects of the

crown, not enslave them.

They were forced to work against their will, but nobody owned them, nobody could buy or

sell them.

In 1515, las Casas gave up his encomienda and advocated instead for the use of African

slaves.

That's right, the Protector of the Natives, as he would later be called, was the one who

advocated for the Transatlantic Slave Trade, which then started under Nicolas de Ovando,

not Columbus.

And became the progenitor to the Transatlantic Slave Trade.

And not his son.

But Diego has built on my work with the Indians.

Helping to found a triangular trade route that represents the world first multi-national

process, streamlining the Transatlantic free-labor market, insourcing African workers.

In 1530 he transcribed Columbus's journals and in 1542 he wrote "A Short Account of

the Destruction of the Indies."

Which is the thing that everyone points to as las Casas saying Columbus was evil.

He only mentions Columbus once, and it's rather neutral actually.

The account is baout those who came after Columbus, including de Ovando, who is "best

known for [his] brutal treatment of the native Taino people of Hispaniola."

Keep that in mind, because it becomes important later.

Columbus was removed as governor of Hispaniola in 1500 and put in jail.

Not because of his brutal treatment of the natives.

But because of his mismanagement of the colony, meaning he wasn't extracting enough gold,

and complaints from the Spanish colonists.

Cut off people's hands.

Cut off people's noses and hands unless they give you silver, right?

He was doing that to the Spanish.

I'm sure he did it to the natives too, but the King and Queen didn't really care about

the natives at this point.

But his punishment was that he was removed as governor and put in jail for a total of

six weeks.

After which he was given everything back and sent out on his fourth voyage… so you can

see how much they really cared about punishing him.

But it was while he was arrested that he wrote an important letter.

Girls as young as nine years old were sold into sexual slavery.

My customers wanted new world sex slaves, and I heard them.

Actual Christopher Columbus quote.

This actual Columbus quote comes from the important letter I just mentioned.

In the letter, he complains about the robbing and sexual slavery of the natives.

Which is why he cut off colonist's hands and noses.

And that "the violence of the calumny of turbulent persons has injured me more than

my services have profited me; which is a bad example for the present and the future."

Am I saying that Columbus was a good guy?

No.

But am I saying that he was against the very thing that people say he was for?

Yes that's exactly what I'm saying, yes.

They're quoting his complaint about a thing happening and saying he was doing it, that's…

talk about taking something out of context.

So Columbus was not the governor when las Casas arrived.

Las Casas had already given up his encomienda and started the slave trade by the time he

transcribed Columbus's journals.

So at this point he has every incentive to make Columbus look as bad as possible, in

fact it's common knowledge that he paraphrased and exaggerated.

This is made even worse by Black Legend, which is a propaganda campaign by English historians

to make the Spanish look much worse than they really were.

So when people say "from Columbus's own journals" what they really mean is "from

one specific and biased 1892 English translation of the 1530 transcriptions of Columbus's

own journals, originally written forty years earlier."

I hate to draw this comparison, but it's kind of like directly quoting Jesus.

He didn't speak English, and what you're reading is a centuries' old translation

of a third person account of what he said, written hundreds of years afterwards.

Oh yeah, that's another thing, those original transcriptions and even the translations of

Columbus's journals are written in third person too.

Columbus's regime was so senselessly brutal that by 1542, the Taino population on the

island had fallen to 200.

As we've already established, "Columbus' regime" only lasted until 1500.

Adam is attributing an entire 50 year span to one person, 42 of which wasn't even under

Columbus.

Do you even remember who the president was 42 years ago?

De Ovando, who was the most brutal if you remember, was in charge for longer than Columbus.

50 years is a long time, that's 2 or 3 generations.

Not only was Columbus dead, but his sons were dead.

I mentioned this in my Oregon Trail video, but this is another example of taking something

that occurred over decades and compressing it down to blame it all on one guy.

50 years is twice as long as the Oregon Trail existed.

So okay, something else that really stuck out to me is that 200 number.

No matter what source you look up, you'll see 1542 population numbers around 2000 to

5000.

Which is still small, don't get me wrong, but it's 10 to 25 times larger than what

Adam is saying, so where did he get this?

Here…. "by 1542 there were fewer than 200."

But wait a second, did you notice something?

Here, Adam says the Taino population in 1492 was 250,000, which is pretty accurate to what

everyone else says.

But in Adam's source, it says the population was 1.1 million, which is ridiculous.

So don't use the source when the numbers are wildly unbelievable, but use it when it

fits your narrative I guess.

So how many people did Columbus and his men kill, and does that count as genocide?

If we take that 250,000 number and subtract the 90% mortality rate from dis- The answer

is that it doesn't matter, that's not what genocide means.

In 2012, George Zimmerman shot and killed Trayvon Martin, that fact is beyond dispute.

But he was found innocent, so how is that possible?

Because he was tried for murder, not manslaughter.

Murder requires an intent to kill.

Zimmerman didn't leave his house that day saying "I'm going to kill a black kid

today."

Proving intent when the only witness is the perpetrator is nearly impossible, and intent

matters when trying to define a crime.

After the Vegas shooting a few months ago, many people wanted the crime labelled as an

act of terrorism.

Terrorism is the use of violence, or fear of violence, to further a political agenda.

There was no stated political purpose or message behind the shooting, it was just a senseless

mass murder.

The intent is what matters.

So when we look at what happened with Columbus and his men, nobody can deny that mass killings

took place.

I am not trying to deny, excuse, or minimize what happened.

But when trying to label what happened as a genocide, we have to look at the intent.

Genocide, as defined by the UN, is an "act committed with intent to destroy, in whole

or in part, a national, ethnical, racial, or religious group."

Columbus's intent was not to- wipe them out, all of them.

In his own words, he wanted to subjugate them.

It wasn't racially or ethnically motivated, it was conquest motivated, and those who fought

back were killed.

When Napoleon was trying to conquer Europe, he killed hundreds of thousands who resisted

and we don't call that genocide.

The end result is the same, whether we're talking about Trayvon Martin, the Vegas Shooting,

or Columbus.

People were killed and that's awful.

But when trying to label the crime as manslaughter, murder, terrorism, or genocide, it's the

intent that matters.

You and I would likely agree on the number of natives killed, but we might disagree on

what to call that crime.

For centuries, Christopher Columbus was a historical footnote.

But that all changed in 1828 when Washington Irving, author of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow

and other tall tales, wrote the first English language biography of Columbus.

Historical footnote… right… that's why this state capital, the district of the nation's

capital, this state capital, and this territory were all named after him.

Not to mention all the other cities and counties in the US and an entire country in South America…

all before 1828.

Truth is Columbus and his imagined female goddess form Columbia have been part of the

American story since the beginning.

Here she is telling you to ration food during World War 1 and here she is in the painting

you all know, even if you're not American, as the depiction of Manifest Destiny.

Admittedly, American folklore has probably turned him into a bigger deal than he should

be, given his rather minimal involvement in US history.

Which is why I don't personally think we should have a day for him.

But, conversely, I also disagree with just renaming it Indigenous Peoples' Day… because

what is it really?

Ah f**k him.

Yeah f**k Columbus.

F**k Christopher Columbus.

This'll be f**k you.

It's just Anti-Columbus Day.

What do people do on Indigenous Peoples' Day?

They hate Columbus, they burn him in effigy, and they hold mock trials of him.

If you want to have a day where we celebrate native history and native cultures, then let's

do that.

Don't just name swap it and make it hate on Columbus day – we don't have days where

we hate on objectively more evil people like Hitler or Stalin… it's weird.

Was Columbus a good guy?

No.

Was he a bad guy?

If we look at him through a historical lens, not really, he was no worse than anyone else.

But if we hold him up to modern standards, absolutely, he was a bad guy.

Columbus is just one part, the first part, but a relatively small part, in what happened

to the Native Americans.

So why do people hate Columbus – or rather, why do people want to hate Columbus?

Why do people seem to exaggerate and even go so far as to fabricate evidence in order

to discredit, downplay, and demonize him?

Well, Wonder Woman got it right…

Maybe people aren't always good.

Don't you wish I could tell you that it was just one bad guy to blame?

It's not!

De Ovando was objectively worse, Cortez and the other conquistadors were objectively worse,

and the US government was most of the time objectively worse.

But more than that, all of the unnamed soldiers under these people were the absolute worst.

But despite all of that, Columbus is the one everyone can name.

To many people, Columbus deserves none of the credit for discovering America, but all

of the blame for what happened to it.

If we can pin 400 years of awful history on one guy, then it shifts all of the guilt for

what happened to the Native Americans away from the rest of us.

Well, the rest of you, my relatives didn't come over until after the end of the Indian

Wars, so not me.

Putting people into nice neat little boxes of good and evil just isn't that simple,

people are more complicated than that… and deep down we all know that.

We just don't want it to be true.

We a villain to blame.

And the next time someone tells you that Columbus is responsible for the genocide of millions

or that he thought the world was shaped like a pear, hopefully now, you'll know better.

So what do you think, was Columbus the most evil person to walk the earth, or just a man

of his time?

Who's story should I deconstruct next?

Yes, this is chocolate, and I can't wait for all of you to tell me how dangerous this

is in the comments below, at least it'll be a nice change from everyone calling me

a racist.

[Cities Skylines] Christmas Special part 2 - Duration: 2:22.

Hello Guys, this is Titan, and I heartily welcome you to this second part of my Christmas special.

I didn't have that much time this week, but I'm sure you'll like what I have for you,

even though it's not that much.

Here we have three Christmas market stalls and one of them even with a tiny Christmas pyramid on top of it.

They are unique buildings so people will be attracted by them.

Theoretically it would be possible to build a tiny Christmas market out of these few stalls

as I did here, but it surely looks a bit repetitive.

I highly recommend you Move it! to place them where you want and the mod Not so unique buildings

could also be an important mod.

The mod PropRotating Params made by Ronyx69 is needed for the rotation of the pyramid.

I would say I have to tweak the illumination a bit, so they look more fancy, but for now it's okay.

All the stalls have a small texture map of 256x512 and a Tricount of about slightly over 100.

The pyramid of the exception of this: stall and rotating body together count over 1000 tris -

but at least it looks nice.

Now I hope you liked this video, these few stalls and the whole special in general.

If so, please like and comment the video, share it, show your Christmassy cities.

You can find Steam links to a collection with all Christmassy stuff by me down in the description,

as well as a link to my Twitter page.

On the right side you can switch to a playlist with my normal assets and a playlist with

all my Christmas special parts.

Thanks for watching, see you in my next video!

5 Best Hormones Responsible For Weight Gain In Women - How Women Can Gain Weight

One guy Roy land which is present at the base of your neck produces three hormones t3

t4 and calcitonin these hormones regulate metabolism

sleep heart rate growth brain development etc

sometimes the thyroid gland under produces the thyroid hormone leading to

hypothyroidism

Hypothyroidism is often associated with weight gain depression

constipation fatigue high blood cholesterol slow heart rate etc there are many causes of

Hypothyroidism such as gluten intolerance

malnutrition environmental toxins etc in fact

hypothyroidism leads to water

Accumulation and not that that makes you look glum you will gain

510 pounds more if your weight gain is only due to thyroid imbalance

to

insulin

Insulin is a hormone secreted by the pancreas

Which helps to carry the glucose into the cells to be used as energy or to store them as fat

This helps maintain the glucose levels in the blood

over consuming processed foods alcohol

Artificially sweetened drinks and snacking on unhealthy foods or even consuming too many fruits can lead to insulin resistance

In this case the muscle cells are not able to recognize

glucose bound insulin and therefore glucose remains in the bloodstream causing a spike in blood sugar

levels this finally leads to weight gain and type 2 diabetes

3

leptin

Under normal conditions the hormone leptin signals that you are full and should stop eating

but due to

Overconsumption of foods that are high in sugar content such as candies

chocolates fruits that are modified to contain a lot more fructose and

Processed foods the oversupply of fructose is converted to fat that gets deposited in liver

belly and other regions of the body

Now fat cells secrete leptin as you keep consuming more fructose

Containing foods more fat gets accumulated and more leptin is secreted this in turn

desensitizes the body to leptin and the brain stops receiving the signal to stop eating this ultimately leads to weight gain or

Berlin

Popularly known as the hunger hormone

Care line helps stimulate appetite and increases fat deposition it is secreted by the stomach

Mainly a small amount of girl line is also secreted by the small intestine

brain and pancreas

higher levels of Beuerlein in the bloodstream may lead to weight gain and obese people are more sensitive to this hormone in

Fact their line levels are also high when people are on a strict diet or while fasting?

6

cortisol

Cortisol is a steroid hormone produced by the adrenal glands. It is mainly secreted when you are stressed depressed anxious

Nervous and great physically injured etc the two primary functions of cortisol are energy regulation and energy

Mobilization let me explain

cortisol regulates energy by deciding

Which type of energy carb protein or fat is required by the body to do a certain function?

Curtis all helps to mobilize energy by transporting fats from fat reserves to the hungry cells or working muscles

Basically cortisol is needed to handle short-term stress mental physical real or imagined response

But due to poor lifestyle choices and bad eating habits your body can be in a constant state of stress

This leads to an increased secretion of cortisol that makes the body

hyperinsulinemic increases visceral fat and stimulates the maturation of fat cells Asian of fat cells

Why I Took A Permanent Career Break - Duration: 11:25.

hi there in this video I want to talk about why I took a permanent career

break but before I do that I just want to say to you if you come to Phuket then

you really should look out for this area behind me I've got Nai Harn beach and

you'll see if you look to the sea on the right there's a hotel where you can

actually go through the hotel and you've got a really nice area here that not so

many people go to this place here with these rocks you've got a guy fishing

you've got some people going out to their yachts and over here you've got

some people behind me now who are taking wedding photographs because it's such a

beautiful area and if you carry on up this road here you've got a nice

restaurant which is up on the rocks with a beautiful view then go further you've

got a beach I forget the name now there's a little restaurant there and

that's good for snorkelling but then you can even walk further and there's

another beach there really crystal clear water I went there about a week ago and

it's beautiful I didn't have snorkel gear but if I had then I would have done

that because you actually have the fish around you tropical fish

actually swimming around you and you can see them even without a snorkel so I

really recommend this it's in Phuket in the south part this is Nai harn beach and

then you go kind of through a hotel which is on the right and then up this

road anyway so I want to talk about what led to my career break it wasn't a

sudden thing and I really think if you want a career break where you travel or

if you want to actually give up your career and travel and work then really

take a long time to think about it and the consequences because for me it was

actually probably five years to make the decision I think from the time I was

about 21 or 22 and I left when I was 27 and also really make sure you're leaving

for a positive reason rather than a negative reason I think if you leave for

a negative reason then because your emotions get amplified so much

if you say I'm fed up with my job I'm gonna leave and you go then if things go

bad it really will amplify it and it will really feel a lot worse so kind of

think of why you want to go and really try and make it a positive

thing to do so I think during those five years I had competing feelings do I

stick with my career these are the reasons why I should the money the

security and these are the reasons why I want to leave but there were actually

some significant things that happened during that time and the first one I've

talked about this in another video was I went on a development course and on the

last day I decided I wanted to spend two hours in a cellar and just think about

my life and that was the real turning point of actually realizing I can do

what I want with my life so that was the first thing and the first feeling of ooh

okay what do I want to do and then I started thinking about it now probably

the second thing was I went to Spain and there was just one time there was a guy

in a Motorhome and he was living on the seafront

he had a motorbike on the back and I was there with a friend and we just went wow

we started talking to him and we said wow is this your life what do you do

what job do you have and he was just working in a bar he would work in one area

and then he pack his motorbike up and go and work somewhere else and we just thought

wow what a fantastic life and that was another thing it just inched me towards

this kind of life so probably the next thing was reading a book by Ted Simon

called Jupiter's travels and it really did get this travel bug in me he

travelled around the world on a motorbike he actually spent a few months

in jail in South America and it wasn't that easy for him but it still was a

fantastic adventure I think this is actually in

the 70s or something that he did it and he was sponsored by The Sunday Times but

it just seemed such an adventure that I don't know it's one of these ones that

it changes your feeling on life and you just think oh I'd love to do that so

I followed it up I read some other books there was one I remember some people did

the same thing but in a car they traveled around the world and I thought

about doing that as well so all these things gradually in my early 20s kept

coming back to me and I kept thinking about them so eventually I think it was

1988 I decided I wanted to go to Australia and a friend wanted to do that

as well so we were both very busy and we just really didn't make any plan we just

went and booked a ticket we said okay right we'll sort it out once we got there and

stopped off in Singapore for a couple of days I think it was had a look around

there but Singapore really was quite built up it was pretty much like the

West so not adventurous I didn't really feel it was adventurous kind of going

shopping was the most adventurous thing there so we went on to Australia didn't

really go that well we didn't realize it was the rainy season and the place we

went to we went up the East Coast from we actually drove from Sydney up to

Airly Beach which is on the way to Cairnes

we didn't realize it was so far we didn't know the weather was going to be

so bad and it just there was some good times there but it really wasn't what we

thought and the thing that did have a big effect was coming back we stopped

off at Singapore again and we decided really lucky because we were talking and

we went out for a drink with a guy who was working there and he said oh you

should go off to Malaysia you know that's adventure this is

just you know normal so we hired a car and we drove into Malaysia and up the

coast to a place where they have a ferry going across to one of the islands

and it just seemed like this was something out of a movie it was just a

rickety old Ferry and a rickety old pier we didn't go across to the

island we just had one day but we hung around the area and I suppose there were

backpackers there it was just kind of a different feeling to it all it was just

some sort of adventure people there were going off to this island and that made

me realize wow Asia is exciting and it's a place I want to go so that got

Asia into me and then I thought okay I want to do that but it was still too

much to quit my job after eleven years and to do all this it was still just a

big risk and I wanted to make sure it was going to work so I took a trip to

Spain for a week and I've explained this in one of my blogs that that didn't go

well I got mugged and it was a disaster so I decided okay I need to meet some

people and luckily I found some other people who were leaving and I said to

them okay I need to sell my house my sorry apartment need to quit my job and

I just got to make sure I'm doing the right thing and if I can plan all that

and do it they were leaving on 31st of January and this was maybe November or

maybe October so I said okay if everything goes to plan I'll leave with

you and the idea there we were just gonna stay together two weeks and then

split up so it kind of all came together I sold the flat and I told them look I

need to do this quickly I'll give you a discount and if you know if you can do

that and the solicitor said okay you've got to you've got to help me make it all

work quickly and I think it took about between four and six weeks to sell it

and have the money in the bank I got the money in the bank quit the job the

next day and that was it I was leaving so it wasn't anything

quick and it was all planned but in the end you do have to take a risk and you

don't know what's going to happen it isn't sure what's going to happen in the

future a lot of things have gone well and a lot

of things have gone badly since I've traveled I've run out of money two times

one was because I just kept traveling and used all my money up and the other

one I started a business and it was going really well but then we run out of

money to carry on the business so it's yeah it's not safe but then that's the

adventure of it so anyway what happened with me I traveled for six

months real out-and-out traveling I studied for

six months in the Philippines studying computing and that was it I actually

met someone there and decided to stay out in Asia because of that but also

because I just found it exciting out here and going back to England just kind

of felt boring then so I hope that can kind of give you an idea of the process

that I went through when I left I think it's not so difficult now when I left

there weren't really people working abroad wasn't normal people working

online wasn't heard of because there was no internet so I think it's a lot easier

now but I would like to hear from any of you who are thinking of it and just tell me

is it such a big thing is it such a big worry maybe because people don't hold

their jobs so long nowadays jobs are more temporary so I don't know if it's

such a big thing and it'd be good to know and then also in the comments here

please ask me any questions you've got about doing this about what led up to me

leaving and if you're not sure whether to do it maybe I can help you there so

if you found this useful please give this a thumbs up on YouTube as that will

help other people to see this video and if this whole type of thing working

and traveling and quitting your job to see another life appeals to you please

subscribe to my channel so thanks for watching the video and I'll see you in the

next one

And if you haven't already, please subscribe for more videos on how to grow a lot of food

on a little land without spending much or working harder than you have to.

fabulous and seeing as it's snowing today I decided it'd be a great idea to put

together 4 looks of what to wear when it's snowing outside so let's get

started. So for look number one I'm wearing this gorgeous bohemian knit wear

cardigan, it's got the tassel fringing has the hood on the back. it's so cute

I've got a black jumper and a black turtleneck layered underneath to keep

myself warm teamed up with some black ripped jeans and my timberland boots

Timberland boots are the best shoes you could buy them to wear in this weather

they're so good on the snow you can walk anywhere they have such great grip I'm

gonna leave in the description box below everything I'm wearing throughout these

looks in case you want to look at them in a little more detail

so look number two I'm wearing this missguided blue puffer jacket my adidas

turtleneck jumper teamed up again with my ripped jeans and a black pair of

timberland boots and a woolly hat. its this such a cozy cool funky look and

I love this one,

So look number three I've gone for my aviator jacket which is from missguided

again with my brown timberland boots they're so classic I'd love getting

these boots out this time of year my patchwork denim jeans which is good

they look really cool different vibe and light blues has a night jumper at bobble

hat and of course my leather gloves really cute looks so nice in these shots

love this outfit

and staying super-stylish in the snow I've got my Topshop classic dungarees on

a black a thick chunky great knitwear jumper which from weekday on ASOS and

this gorgeous fake fur/faux fur jacket teamed up I've got a black turtleneck

underneath and I've got my black timberlands on again love this look

again so cool it's just a bit of an edgy look to wear its also warming,

I could have worn it without the coat.

İngilizce Ninni: Brahms Lullaby | Bizim Ninniler - Duration: 4:55.

Lullaby, and good night, in the skies stars are bright

May the moon, silvery beams, bring you sweat dreams

Close you eyes, now and rest, may these hours be blessed

Till the sky's bright with dawn, when you wake with a yawn

Lullaby, and good night, you are mother's delight

I'll protect you from harm, and you'll wake in my arms

Sleepyhead, close your eyes, for I'm right beside you

Guardian angels are near, so sleep without fear

Lullaby, and good night, with roses bedight Lilies o'er head, lay thee down in thy bed

Lullaby, and good night, you are mother's delight

I'll protect you from harm, and you'll wake in my arms

Lullaby, and sleep tight, my darling sleeping On sheets white as cream, with the head full of dreams

Sleepyhead, close your eyes, I'm right beside you

Lay thee down now and rest, may you slumble the best

Go to sleep, little one, think of puppies and kittens.

Go to sleep, little one, think of butterflies in spring.

Go to sleep, little one, think of sunny bright mornings.

Hush, darling one, sleep through the night
