Hi everyone, what's up? I hope you're doing well, I'm Yoann and you're on my channel my life in the United States !
So we're here today in
an American neighborhood
I thought it would be interesting to show you the differences
between an American neighborhood and a French one
it's a fancy neighborhood. But there are many differences between an American et a French one
Let's start with the names. Very often, American neighborhoods have names
Just like here, this one is named Royal Links
There are many such as Polo Dr., etc.
This is the first difference, neighborhoods have names
Tell me in the comments if your neighborhood has a name
Because to me, I've never seen one
Let's continue and see the 2nd difference !
Follow me !
So you'll see that in an American neighborhood, the first thing that will surprise you
is the size of the houses
You can see it right away behind me, the houses are huge
I'll show you a few examples, follow me
Houses are way bigger
of course, it's not always like that in the USA, there are smaller and more modest houses
but it's more surprising and more frequent to see neighborhood with big houses like those ones
come on !
A second difference
the American flag
Of course we know it, American people and the United States are proud of their flag
And you can often see flags floating proudly in front of houses
just like here behind me
I'll show you other examples, you can see another house with another flag
In France it would be very unusual to see French in front of houses
Here, it's normal, there are no problems
by the way, if you want to know more about the American flag, its history and the tradition
go check the description bar
I'll put you the link to check my video where I explain everything
Do you want to know other differences? Follow me
We're stopping here in front of this house for another difference
Basketball hoop in front of the garage
it looks like we're in a movie
I feel like 1 house out of 2 or 3 have one
Where you can see the dad playing basketball with the kids
it's funny to see people having fun
and one more time, I feel like I'm in a movie every time I see it!
in many neighborhoods, American people love to decorate their houses
the outside is usually decorated, there are flowers, trees...
as you can see behind me, it's very well taken care of
they just love it !
they love decorating their houses, in the summer there are flowers
in the Fall you can see halloween
Then Christmas...
it's very pretty and to me, it's something that's missing in France
and it's something that we don't see that often
houses with decorations and so well kept
people show their personality
and who they are
with their decoration
Sometimes you can even see the name of the family on the front door
literally saying "You're in our home"
another difference is the space between houses
everytime I'm so surprised, in big neighborhood like this one, there is a lot of space between them
and each house is separated from each other
I know it's similar in France
but for me, I grew up on a street, where all the houses are attached to each other
so it's something I'm not used to
another big difference, is the screens at the windows
we won't be able to see it on the video
but each window...
a nice American car driving by
each window has a screen
When Andrea moved to France, at night she wanted to open the windows
and of course the mosquitoes would come inside
so she would ask "why don't we have screens??"
Because here, all the windows have one
and it's a big big difference
you can see it behind me, another difference that we cannot miss
is all the mailboxes that are along the road
the typical American mailboxes
if you wonder how we use it
go check out my video on American mailboxes
why does it have this little red thing
and how we use it
also, the post office has little cars with the steering wheel on the right
to be able to put the letters in the mailboxes that are along the road
another difference is that many houses have porches
the entrance doors are covered
there is a little entry
and people love to decorate those entries as I explained
put a chair for example, and it is common for instance, to see people
sitting in front of their entrance having a good time
it's a big difference and because it's unusual to see that in France with the porche in front of the house
American people usually have big cars
and if you talk about big cars you talk about big garages
it's very common to see houses with 1, 2 or even 3 garages
and often way wider than our French garages
Something that surprised me when I moved to the States
is that many houses have big back yards
but with no demarcation
as you see, there are the houses with the yards
but there are no demarcations between neighbors
it's not unusual that one neighbor crosses another yard to go to another
of course there are some that are closed
but more than in France, yards are open
and the neighbors don't try to protect themselves
or to be more secretive
I feel like wherever I moved in France with my family
we had gates or fences
with trees etc.
here, we can see the neighbors and they can see you
there isn't this idea of privacy and hide from others
it's pretty interesting
I hope you enjoyed this video, give it a big thumbs up
I hope you enjoyed discovering an American neighborhood
all the neighborhoods aren't like this one but it's an example of the differences between France and the USA
and I will see you next time on my channel, my life in the USA ! Bye !

Staring at the wristwatch that you had forgotten
Remembering the last words that I had spoken
I do not know if it was perhaps my own fault, but
Because you would forgive my pretending self
Baby All I want is you
All I want is you
I'm at the verge of tears once more
All I want is you, All I want is you
You're my everything
Without stopping you from leaving
It's just a regret now...
Baby All I want is you
All I want is you
Baby All I want is you
All I want is you
I'm at the verge of tears once more
All I want is you
You're my everything
No matter where I search in this world
That "time" cannot be taken back
Baby all I want is you
All I want is you
I heard you're happy with another girl and that you
were never looking back
Wish I can say the same and live my life
But now I'm all alone

I was like "who is calling me Yassy?" because my friends in the Netherlands don't call me Yassy
I was like no.. it's not possible that I hear someone screaming Yassy.. I am going crazy

Thanks Maram!
It my intro and I am not going to change it
What does it mean?
It means welcome everyone!

Manchester United 4 Crystal Palace 0: Fantastic Fellaini was man of the match - Duration: 2:47.
Manchester United 4 Crystal Palace 0: Fantastic Fellaini was man of the match
Marouane Fellaini was voted Manchester Uniteds Man of the Match after his impressive two-goal display in Saturdays 4-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.
The midfielder was a clear winner in our poll on Twitter, obtaining 79 per cent of fans votes to finish ahead of Marcus Rashford, who received 15 per cent, and Ashley Young (6 per cent).
The Belgian continued his impressive form by scoring a goal in each half to notch his first brace for United, adding to an early opener from Juan Mata, before a late finish from Romelu Lukaku secured a comfortable victory for the Reds.
Fellaini now has four goals already this season, more than his tally for last term and level with his total for the previous two campaigns, and had more touches (12) than any other United player in the game.
The 29-year-old has responded well to the responsibility of fulfilling Paul Pogba's position while the Frenchman is out injured, linking with Nemanja Matic and using his physical presence to control the midfield.
Fellaini received widespread praise on social media, with Reds fan Liam Canning tweeting: Shows great mental resilience from Fellaini to bounce back after being booed at Old Trafford.
Good on him. Deserves his success..
The man himself told MUTV: When I score, it's always a bonus.
It's good for me and good for my confidence, but the most important thing is the win..
United boss Jose Mourinho also spoke about Fellaini after the game, saying: He is a great player and character and we have a good relationship.
A strong character who resists the difficulties here. He is a fighter.
I am really pleased that I helped him reach this level and to change the perception that the fans have now.
I am really happy for him..

Man United 4 Crystal Palace 0: Man United go top of the table
Romelu Lukaku matched Andrew Coles Manchester United record of scoring seven goals in his first seven league matches as he added to earlier strikes from Juan Mata and a double from Marouane Fellaini in a thumping 4-0 win over struggling Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.
The result means Jose Mourinhos men leapfrog Manchester City, at least temporarily, at the top of the table.
Mata sent United on their way after just three minutes, latching on to Marcus Rashfords cross, before Fellaini converted Ashley Youngs delivery just after the half-hour mark.
The big Belgian then grabbed his second at the start of the second period, nodding in Rashfords wicked free-kick, before Lukaku completed the rout late on by tapping in from close range.
At the other end, David De Geas clean sheet means the Reds have now equalled their best-ever clean sheet record at the start of a Premier League campaign.
Phil Jones, Antonio Valencia and Fellaini were all fit to start, while Rashford and Mata also returned to the starting XI, and it was the Spaniard who repaid Mourinhos trust in him after just three minutes.
Arriving into this one on the back of a trip to Russia meant the Reds could perhaps have been forgiven for a sluggish start,
but Mata had other ideas, as he tucked in Rashfords pull back after the young prodigy had turned Joel Ward inside out before handing it on a plate for the tricky playmaker to tuck home.
United seemed to take the foot off the accelerator as the first half wore on.
That allowed Roy Hodgsons men to enjoy a flurry of corners, before De Gea was tested for the first time via a powerful effort from Bakary Sako, which the Spaniard did well to palm away.
Then, it was as if United had told themselves enough was enough as, against the run of play, the Reds doubled their lead via Fellaini, who volleyed home Youngs pin-point cross at the back post.
The Reds wrapped up three points early in the second half as Rashford swung in a dangerous free-kick from the left, which was diverted in via a glancing header from Fellaini.
Young tried his luck from 20 yards, while at the other end Sako miscued a header before blazing over from 25 yards as Palace looked to grab their first goal of the season.
Lukaku almost netted his 11th goal of the season but he dragged his shot wide from 15 yards;
however, the big striker was not to be denied moments later as substitute Anthony Martial played his impactful part once again, pulling the ball back for Lukaku to equal Coles mark.
The Reds have now scored four goals in a game six times this season and the win matched Uniteds record tally of 19 points after the opening seven Premier League matches, set in 1999 and again in 2011.
TALKING POINTS.
In the absence of Paul Pogba, Marouane Fellaini has proved his worth once again in recent weeks.
He returned from injury against Palace and doubled his tally for the season, meaning he now has four goals in all competitions.
Lets hope the big Belgian can continue his impressive form. .
The Belgian striker scored two goals in Wednesdays 4-1 triumph at CSKA Moscow and Lukakus sensational goalscoring form continued on Saturday as he tapped home late on for his 11th in 10 games.
After matching Coles United record, how many more will he score?.
With Manchester City not playing until later in the day, when they travel to title rivals Chelsea, the Reds are currently sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League table.
Lets hope it stays that way! .
Arguably the Reds biggest test thus far lies in the next fixture, following the international break, as Mourinhos men travel to Anfield to face Liverpool on Saturday 14 October (kick off 12:30 BST).
The trip to Merseyside will be a stern test; United v Liverpool encounters are always fierce encounters and this one is sure to be no different.
Its set to be a cracker!.

Behind the Scenes: Charley's Aunt - Duration: 3:14.
>> COURTNEY: This play is about two college-age boys who are in love with Amy and Kitty.
>> TRAJAN: It's very proper, so we have to have a chaperone.
We can't be alone with them.
My aunt says she's going to come down to visit.
>> COURTNEY: So, they make plans with the girls, and they're so excited, and then
all of a sudden, she doesn't show up.
>> SAMUEL: So, they have to get the third friend, yours truly, to pretend to be an elderly
woman.
My character, he's never acted before, never had any experience being a woman.
It's definitely a new experience for everybody.
>> HANNAH: It's based in the 1890s, in Oxford, England, so we all have British accents, and
we're all speaking in that pattern of speech, which is not something that you'd normally
hear today, but it's not hard to understand, either.
>> SAMUEL: I've always been a fan of accents.
I've always loved doing accents on my own.
That's what I like to do.
It's just a lot of fun.
Taking on a demeanor of another time, of another place.
>> COURTNEY: When we warm up, Roger always suggests that we do voice exercises with the
accents.
>> HANNAH: He's talking about how things change in different accents, so that's been
very helpful.
>> COURTNEY: And, it's just really encouraging from Roger to hear him say that we're getting
the accent, we're doing a good job.
>> NATHAN: There's a lot of lines and stuff, very long play.
But now that we're starting to get the lines down and stuff, it's more – the preparation
for it is trying to work off each other and listen to what we're actually saying, so
our actions actually have meaning, and our words actually make sense.
>> COURTNEY: it's just a really fun, humorous play, and I love it, I enjoy it.
It's just a great play that everyone should come to see.
>> SAMUEL: There's comedy falling out of it left and right.
>> NATHAN: There's a lot of things going on while people are speaking that help bring
the play together, make more sense.
Because, certain actions going on through the play get brought up later.
>> SAMUEL: There's physical bits that keep getting brought up.
Throughout the course of this play, I knock people's hats out of their hands and pour
tea in their hats and throw books at them, and I jump over things in a dress.
Most importantly, you can see me in a lovely dress, and nice wig and little granny glasses.
I'm quite a figure up there.
Life as a theatre student is really interesting.
There's really nowhere else that you can get this kind of experience.
A very close-knit group of people working together all the time.
And you get to see the best parts of people in a place like this.
You get to see the funniest bits.
You get to see the most sincere parts of people.
There's emotions that get brought out, and sides of people's personalities that you
would never otherwise get to see, so it's a really unique experience.

You're my everything
Without stopping you from leaving
It's just a regret now...

Driving Your Rivals To Murder in Yandere Simulator - Duration: 8:42.
Today, Yandere-chan must eliminate a girl named "Kokona Haruka".
Yandere-chan has the ability to commit murder and get away with it...
...but she has decided to dispose of Kokona without getting any blood on her hands.
There are rumors that Kokona is going on dates with older men in exchange for money.
Yandere-chan speaks with Kokona and learns that the rumors are true...
...but Kokona has a reason for her actions.
Her father is in debt, and she is trying to earn enough money to help him pay his debt.
Yandere-chan learns that the loan shark extorting Kokona's father has a daughter...
...who is attending the same school as them.
Yandere-chan realizes that she can use this information to her advantage.
You're the one who wanted to meet me here?
Your note said that you wanted to talk about my dad's debt. What did you want to say?
I learned some information that might be useful to you.
What is it?
Are you familiar with a girl named "Musume"?
I've spoken to her a couple of times, but I don't know her very well...
Her father runs a loan agency. Ronshaku Loans.
What?!
Musume's father is the one extorting your dad.
I never would have expected to hear that...but what am I supposed to do with this information?
I think that if we hurt Musume-chan, we can make her father stop extorting your dad.
What?! No! Even if Musume-chan's father is an awful person, she doesn't deserve to be hurt!
Maybe she does.
Why would you say that?
Today, Musume-chan was bragging about the expensive gifts her father buys for her.
Clothing...shoes...jewelry...watches...handbags...
She bragged about how she can make her father buy anything she wants...
...if she pretends to cry until he buys it.
Everything she owns was bought with the money that was extorted out of your father...
...and she's not even grateful for any of it.
That...is what my dad suffers for? So that bimbo can wear jewelry she doesn't deserve?
I have a plan.
I'll knock her out, tie her up and, and blindfold her. Then, we'll beat her up. She'll never know it was us.
What?! What would that solve?!
It would send a message to her father. He'll realize he can't keep getting away with what he's doing.
He'll put an end to his loan business; your dad will be free from debt.
Would that...really work?
Of course.
Alright...let's do it.
I'll call you when it's time.
Please hurry! I don't want my dad to suffer any longer.
After you.
Oh my god!
What's wrong?
This isn't what I expected!
Don't forget why we're here. This is for your father's sake, remember?
Here.
Huh?
You'll need this.
I'm not sure about this anymore...
I've heard that voice before...Kokona?! Is that you?!
Ugh...did I really get kidnapped by a skank like her?
Wha...What?! Who are you calling a skank?!
Don't play dumb! The whole school knows you sleep with men for money!
No, I don't! I just go to dinner with them! It doesn't go any further than that!
HA! That's a laugh! Any girl with a rack like yours knows how to take advantage of it!
Just admit what everyone already knows: You're a total slut.
I...I never asked for my body to look like this!
But I bet you enjoy all the money that your huge boobs are making for you.
I don't get to get to keep any of the money I make! I give it all to my dad!
How stupid! You're supposed to be milking money out of your dad - not the other way around!
I give my money to my dad so he can pay off his debt to YOUR dad!
Pff...HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!
Is THAT what this is all about?! Your dad can't pay back a loan, so you're taking it out on me?!
You're pathetic, and your dad is pathetic!
If someone can't pay debts, they shouldn't borrow money in the first place!
If your dad can't pay back my dad, he deserves whatever happens to him!
Keep selling your body, though!
Maybe one day you'll save up enough money to buy some self-respect!
SHUT UP! SHUT UP! SHUT UUUUUP!
...I...did I...
...wait...she's not...dead, is she...?!
Oh my god...oh my god! She...she's dead! She's actually dead! I...I killed her!
Ayano! What are we going to -
...A...Ayano...?...Where are you...?...
FREEZE!
PUT YOUR HANDS UP!
STEP AWAY FROM THE BODY AND PUT YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR!
HEY, HEY! DON'T MOVE!
WE HAVE YOU SURROUNDED!
STAY RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE!
Are you sure okay to let her go?
Her alibi is airtight,
and we can't find any evidence whatsoever that she was even remotely involved in the crime.
It doesn't matter how many times the perp tells us that this girl was involved.
We have no right to keep her detained if we can't connect her to the crime.
I know, but...something about this girl feels...wrong. You know what I mean, right? She's...weird.
Are you forgetting what happened back in '89?
A girl her age was arrested and sent to court based on
flimsy evidence, unreliable testimony, and outlandish theories.
The trial made national news, the girl was found innocent, and our department was ridiculed for months.
I'm not letting that happen again.
Speaking of 1989...you know who her mother is, right?
Are you suggesting we should suspect her of a crime just because her mother went to trial 30 years ago?
No, that's not what I'm...forget it. Let's just get her out of here.
Young lady...sorry to take up so much of your time. You're free to go.
Thank you.
You're safe now.

05 Brewster Kahle talks about people at Thinking Machines - Duration: 6:46.
Let's talk about some of the people at Thinking Machines.
So Danny Hillis was, in my world, he was my mentor.
For the Connection Machine Model 1, every transistor in that thing was there because of Danny.
I played a role of helping make it come true. I was one step closer to reality
from Danny. I was a certain level of filter that took some of these ideas--
some of them are good, some of them are bad-- and I would sort of filter some of them down, and try
to make them--the next level work. And there are people that would work
all the way through. And I don't think of It as down, and he didn't think of It as down.
It's over. In the sense that there was ideas, there's architecture, there's chip design, there's board design; there was
packaging, and how do you go and make this? How do you communicate it?
How do you do the software for this thing, which is really unknown! He had his hand in all of these things,
but there were people that were just unbelievable. How do you go and make a company
out of a bunch of bonzos from MIT, and make that come about, and communicate such that you...
If you're gonna sell a machine for five million dollars-- --I think it was only three.
--For three million dollars. --Cheap!
--You have to go and get approval through a lot of people that had no idea what you're talking about.
So who are some of the people involved? There's Danny and Sheryl, they were the founders.
There's Howard Resnikoff, who was one of the early shakers. I loved his line of: "To err is *human.*"
And he'd put little stars around the "human." So it's a snarky sort of, "yeah, maybe we're gonna get over this."
--What was Howard's role in the company?
--In the founding of the company, he worked on trying to build up the community and outreach
to smart people and bring them together.
Sheryl had this great idea of going and having it be in this mansion in the middle of Waltham [Paine Mansion].
--Which was wonderful! --Oh it was wonderful! It was such a great setting
to go and think great thoughts. And she sort of talked them into allowing us to use this old historic mansion
as a place. And so the idea of bringing together Richard Feynman, Carl Feynman's father,
Stephen Wolfram came for a time, and they were just all of these different points of view.
A lot of them were woven together by Howard Resnikoff, and then he left.
Your coming just brought a level of artistic and thoughtful design, not only to the machine,
but to the people and the organization building the machine.
--What does that mean? --Well okay, that you went and spent time
going and making the design, the T-Shirt, that actually is kind of iconic
out of what Thinking Machines became, as part of-- --[gesturing to his shirt] The T-Shirt.
--Yes, the T-Shirt, right? It's on Richard Feynman, on billboards, on the Apple ads.
That was a thoughtful thing towards having us weave together. Because we weren't going to
come up with this as just the brainchild of Danny Hillis, and it's springing fully-formed.
It had a large number of people pouring their all into the different aspects to it.
Carl Feynman was involved in the project for as long as I was...Cliff Lasser, these were the software guys...
--What was Carl Feynman's role? --Carl Feynman Is one of those
amazingly brilliant people, that if you give them just the right problem,
they will come out with an answer that you'll have never thought of.
He's not the person to build the bridge, he's the person to go and say,
"We've got a real problem and it looks like it's gonna fall down because of this type of joint," and he'll rethink it.
So: an example: we were stuck. The Connection Machine... We were designing this computer chip.
I think it was the Connection Machine Model 2. It might have been the Model 1 chip.
We needed a router to go and direct all the messages around, so the equivalent of the Internet, within the computer.
--There was a router in the 1. --There's a router in the 1 and we had...
The basic cell for making the decisions was too many gates. And it was too big. And I went off to California
to work with the-- and we tried to cram it down and we couldn't get it. It was like
the whole project was going to stop. So we gave it to Carl Feynman and he took it with his father.
Danny and I worked on it, I got It down to here; then Danny, he's brilliant, got It down to
16 gates, something like that. And we thought we were done, that was all I could do.
But it still wasn't enough. And Carl Feynman and Richard Feynman went off and... he sent a postcard.
The design came back on a postcard! And it was down at 11 and a half gates.
--Oh my god, you don't have that postcard, do you? --No, hopefully it's part of the Internet Archive's...
excuse me, the Thinking Machines archives. --Is there a Thinking Machines archive?
--I don't know, I hope so. But this postcard came back and it was hand drawn.
And if you look at it, it requires deeply understanding how chips are laid out
at a very low-level, to build it back up into what it is that was done. So he saved the Connection Machine.
So he's a brilliant man. There's the guys that tried to make the software work-- Guy Steele. Cliff Lasser--
and made it so that other people could figure out how to program this thing.
Jim Salem. It was a cluster of some of the smartest people.
And Thinking Machines, I think by having a high dream, was able to bring people together, to work on,
not a slavish thing-- we weren't working for the next quarter's profits-- it was, "Let's build something great.
Let's set the goal high. Let's make something beautiful." Who works on a computer to make them beautiful? Nah,
you make it so they can ship!

And then we'll be on the plane
Erm...

So see ya in Germany!
Kisses x
Hola
We just landed in Hamburg, Germany
We both slept during the whole flight
Since we weren't together
So we both slept and right now, we don't know what to do
I think we're just going to hang out here and find some Wi-fi
Then we'll figure out what to do but now we're just exhausted
Not to mention that it's colder here than in Brussels
It's pretty windy too so yeah, not that cool
Anyway, I will tell you what we're doing later on
Kisses x
So, we're still at the airport. We now have Wi-fi
But we still don't know what to do
We'll probably...
Oh, my eyebrows! It's a catastrophe!
-Yeah, you're right!
Oh my god!
So I was saying that we're going...
We're going to get some food then drop our luggage at the hotel
And Insha'Allah, then we can sleep
I'm so tired
Eva, how are you feeling?
-That tired!
I'm exhausted and I'm hungry

-The food is expensive here
On the plane it was 1.50€ for 1 Kinder Bueno
-We're going to lose 3kgs you'll see

So, I will update you guys later ,with better eyebrows I hope!
Because it's a mess

-That's what I was talking about!
But I'm still on holiday, it's my last week
-I know, but tomorrow night is the most important thing we gotta do!
Oh damn, tomorrow is going to be so dope!
A lot of snaps
Hi, welcome back to the second day!
Eva and I didn't slept that well last night
Eva, can you please tell them what happened?
-Yeah, there was a guy yelling because he was drunk *super annoyed*
This guy was on our hotel floor
Completely drunk
He literally just yelled the whole night
I think... At what time did we went to sleep?
-It was 11pm I believe
Yes, something like that
So from 11pm to 1 or 2 am this guy was yelling
He was german so we didn't understand a single word he said
So we just came out of the room
And there was someone so I was like :
"Is there a problem or anything?"
And he was like :'' No, it's my brother he's drunk"
And I just glared at him and just said a quick "ok "
But man, this guy went on the whole night!
Because of that we slept in
So right now we're late on our schedule
So now it's..
It's 11:17 am and we're still here
(We we're supposed to leave at 9 am lol )
Anyway, today's our second day, meaning we're saying Alex today!
Right now, we're going to the mall
Just to roam around the city
Then we'll go eat something, I don't know where
Then we'll come back here, and will get ready for the concert
So I talked enough, see ya!
The battery was empty so we couldn't record anything
from our afternoon until the concert :(((
Sorry for the poor quality
We're now second row
We met him, he was so kind and handsome as usual
We also got a signed picture
We also met the coolest girls ever
They're in front of us but I won't recored them right now
So we'll tell you how it went later
Hola!
I'm so sorry I couldn't take the camera
The concert is now done
and it was so so so so so so so good
I'm with Eva
As I said earlier we met some cool girls here and ...
-Je vlogue-
Cierra : "T'es vraiment en train de vloguer?"
-Elle est trop cool!-
I still don't know what we're going to do
Probably going to eat
Then we're going to clean our room
Because it's a mess we didn't cleaned anything right?
The bathroom!
Eva : "That's your problem!"
It's a bit loud here so see ya when we'll get to the room
Kisses x
Hello,
We just got out from the hotel
To meet the girls
They're very sweet
We're going to join them at Mc Donalds
Then we'll talk about this amazing concert!
It was so dope! But it really went quick
I had the impression that the Paris gig was longer than this one
-I agree!
It really happened super quick
It's like he only sang 5songs but yeah! Kisses x
So I ordered a veggie burger like always
And we took a "Apfeltasche" (dessert)
Don't even know what it is!
And now I'm going to show you the girls!
Because they're cool!
-Look at those desserts!
Hello les bitches, dites bonjour au vlog!
Cierra : ça fonctionne?
Eva : We're going to taste the Apfeltasche
Cierra : C'est chaud
It's good, I'll give a 7 out of 10
Vany : Donc vous aimez bien?
Eva : I give a 8 out of 10!
-Pour être honnête, je comprends rien de ce qu'elles disent!-
-J'ai l'impression d'être une vloggeuse là! -
-Présente-toi!-
Ok!
-Je m'apelle Cierra-
Oh, putain, je me vois là!
-Je suis trop moche- (As if!)
Oh no you! I see you everyday
-Salut les filles!-
-Vous allez nous manquer!-
-Vous aussi!-

04 Brewster Kahle The CM Was Built to do Big Data - Duration: 9:32.
Was your interest in Big Data and knowledge, did that arise then as part of
your thinking about what the Connection Machine could be good for? Or was that something that...
--That's what we built the Connection Machine to be! It was good at Big Data.
Some people have attributed me with coming up with the term Big Data.
And if it was, which I think it could be, it came from the Laurie Anderson title "Big Science, Hallelujah."
And it's-- --[singing] Big Science! Hallelujah!
So Big Data, always with the sort of little smirk, right - a Laurie Anderson smirk -
of "Big Science, Hallelujah!" "Big Data, Hallelujah!" and the idea that we could
put these together - information together - to make something smart. It was a very
different radical rethinking. There was, before the Connection Machine,
before Thinking Machines, there was a lot of ideas that you just had to be super
smart to be able to understand language. Another approach was, just have a lot of
language, and be a little bit smart. So a lot of data, little smart.
And that got us so much further towards making progress towards the goals of AI.
And that I think is what we ended up with the search engines, the web, the Internet,
is lots of ideas and then doing little bits and pieces on top of it.
I remember Doug Lenat, who worked at
Thinking Machines, who built this wonderful system called Cyc to try to
map ideas by hand putting together a computer readable version of the
encyclopedia. Way ahead of his time. But he said that, "Wow, I went and used
your system WAIS"-- this is before the web--"and it's amazing! It actually works
really well just by having a lot of data and being a little bit smart."
And I think that some of the tension... It's not right or wrong,
but Thinking Machines, because it had the chutzpah to go and build a machine that
cost millions of dollars that would be used by a single person, that that would
be something that you could do. You would be able to see the future, and the future
turned out to be the future we're currently living in, in the early 21st century.
--And that's interesting, because I remember the programming paradigms at
the time --the big boys, the Crays, and IBMs, and whoever was building
supercomputers at that point were saying, this is ridiculous; you've got 1-bit processors;
they can't do anything; you need intelligent processors.
But the problem is when you have more than one or two of them, then it's really
difficult for them to coordinate with each other. Therefore parallelism is a
concept that's doomed... There's also this Amdahl's Law which-- this proved to be erroneous--
that the problem would grow exponentially as you're adding more and more processors to the mix.
So that really was, I think, the revolutionary aspect of Thinking Machines saying that
we're going to start out, so to speak, small, with these 1-bit processors,
and each one has its own data. So a data parallel machine: lots of
information, maybe you can only work on certain types of problems, but those are
important problems like modeling weather, or doing computer graphics, or doing the
sort of searches that you're talking about, and then we'll see what happens.
Now I've heard that... --Okay. Just a moment. Okay. You can't be behind the camera.
You're part of the picture. Come on, sit. --No no!
--Yeah yeah! I get you. We get to make our own history.
Are you going to be in the frame? --I have no idea! I think so, I think I'm just barely in the
frame, but... but whatever. So a couple things that I've heard from people
is that, well, those days back in the '80s, people were saying, it's impossible to
write parallel programs. And then I remember talking to Rolf Fiebrich who said,
well, it turns out if you bring up undergraduates learning how to serial
program, and then try and teach them how to parallel program, then it's difficult.
But if you teach them parallel programming from the beginning, then
they're like fish in water; they don't realize that this was supposed to be hard.
Is that true? Is parallel programming being taught now? Or is it
still mostly serial? I mean, my perception is from, you know, Harvard CS50 Introduction to Computing;
they're teaching like C and things like that. It's all object-oriented, but it's all serial.
--Oh yeah, we're still stuck. We built this machine that... it took really really interesting
and smart people to think through how to do it. Karl Sims did amazing computer graphics.
Creon Levitt. There was the guys that did colliding galaxies. Stephen Wolfram always thought this way;
he just thought of the world as a pixelated world that evolved. And so, it was innately a big cellular automata
to him. But most people think of small pieces together, and it's in some
sense the tragedy of Thinking Machines, that we started out with 64,000 processors,
and we got to these more and more clumped larger scale processors.
So if you look at how the Internet Archive or Alexa internet, or Amazon or
Google are built, they're actually quite substantial. I mean, you can point to the
computers. You know, 1, 2, 3, 4, you can count them, right? It's not like there's
millions and millions of these things. --Is that true also of, for instance,
Google's search farms? --Yeah! Yeah, you know, you can count them.
Usually you design your algorithms by thinking of a federation of computers,
rather than it all being one smooth smart memory. So in some sense,
we haven't succeeded yet at some of the really brilliant ideas. There's
been a legacy of why we got there, but there's still much more we can do.
We ended up separating out the computer design, and the manufacturing of silicon
went to Asia, and so the design was still going on here but it was... and by having
that kind of long distance it just made it too slow. If we could integrate...
One of the great things at MIT and even Thinking Machines-- I was an undergraduate at MIT.
I could design chips! What the heck! And basically I designed a chip by
writing a computer program that generated this outline of what the art, what the
picture of the chip should be, and I sent it in email to Moses. It was a system
that then a couple months later, it came back a chip! I thought this was
just the way the world worked. I mean it's like hitting print, and you get a chip.
It's like, what a great thing! What an opportunity. It allowed us to, as an
undergraduate, write an undergraduate thesis, on how to design and implement-- and implement!--
a micro microprocessor. A completely different computer architecture can be built in a few months by an
undergraduate. You can't do that anymore, and it's not because the technology
doesn't allow it. It's because we've screwed up our corporate structures, and the
integration of how government funding works within our universities. We've blown it.
So a lot of things were stuck. And the programming one is absolutely one of them.
--So do you think there's an opportunity to then bring that manufacturing capability,
especially as... for instance, as things become more robotized, mechanized, AI driven, so that
again you could have undergraduates sitting there and having the chips fabricated...
--Yeah, I think it's coming up from below.
It's the maker movement. It's the "I want it back, damn it!" Enough of these
stupid large-scale multi-billion dollar corporately-run manufacturing units.
Let's build it from scratch! And so we're seeing the invention wherever we can
give the tools to people. And let's give more and more interesting tools.
You know, maybe it'll be DNA sequencing, and then composition, that will be
before the computers come around.
