What's It Like To Have No Memory? - Duration: 3:51.
Hey there, welcome to Life Noggin.
"Memory... is the diary that we all carry about with us."
So says Miss Prism in The Importance of Being Earnest.
It's a pretty accurate metaphor.
Memories hold our secrets, our feelings, and our experiences.
But what she doesn't point out is that memories, just like diaries, can be lost.
Our thoughts and recollections of the past can be gone in an instant.
What we tend to picture when we think of memory loss is what's known as retrograde amnesia.
Someone with retrograde amnesia can't remember certain aspects of the past and things they
already knew.
Generally, amnesia affects a person's short-term memory.
They'll remember the name of their childhood dog, but might not remember what day it is
or what they were doing immediately before they lost their memory.
Amnesia can be caused by a stroke, heart attack, or head injury, just as a few examples.
Fortunately, amnesia usually resolves itself without treatment.
However, millions of people will experience some form of incurable memory loss in their
lifetime.
In fact, this year an estimated 5.5 million people in the US live with Alzheimer's disease,
a disease that impacts the brain's ability to form memories.
Essentially Alzheimer's starts with a buildup of bits of a protein called beta-amyloid,
also known as plaque, in the brain.
The plaque gets in between nerve cells, and as more and more of it builds up, it damages
and kills brain cells, and Alzheimer's progresses.
According to the Alzheimer's Association, 1 in 10 people over the age of 65 has Alzheimer's.
That's a lot of people.
But what does memory loss mean for a person?
Is their personality gone too?
And what can be done for them?
Many researchers are asking, and answering, these questions.
Research shows that losing your memory to a disease like Alzheimer's isn't just
about forgetting facts you learned in school or the name of the street you grew up on.
It can progress into forgetting how to go through your daily routines like eating and
getting dressed.
Side effects of Alzheimer's also include personality changes, ranging from apathy to
paranoia to indecision.
However, in an interview about his experience with the disease, one man who has been living
with Alzheimer's for several years said "we're still in there."
But researchers' understanding of the disease can only go so far.
They can see the effects that Alzheimer's has on people, but typically they don't
fully comprehend the feeling of forgetting their own life.
According to a firsthand account from one individual who was diagnosed with early-onset
Alzheimer's, in order to imagine the disease, you should imagine waking up after a dental
procedure or a surgery—some event that involves drugs that erase your short term memory.
But also imagine that you've woken up in a building you don't recognize, surrounded
by things you've never seen before, and you're all alone.
Soon, people start coming into the room with you and talk to you like you've always known
them.
Maybe they're your best friend or your kid or your spouse.
But you have no idea who they are.
This is terrifying and heartbreaking to imagine.
I don't like to think about it.
But it's reality for so many people, and it's incredibly important to think and talk
about.
Alzheimer's has no cure.
But we have many scientists and researchers to thank for devoting their time and work
to looking for
a cure.
As always, my name is Blocko and this has been Life Noggin.
Don't forget to keep on thinking!

Carbon Pricing: Economic Incentive for Businesses - Duration: 4:56.
THE HONOURABLE CATHERINE MCKENNA (Minister of Environment and Climate Change): Hi Feike. It's really great to have you here at the Ministerial Meeting on climate change here in Montreal.
FEIKE SIJBESMA (CEO of Royal DSM): Appreciate it.
HON. CATHERINE MCKENNA: So, climate change is real.
We're seeing impacts around the world, whether it's hurricanes or forest fires or droughts,
and we know we need to be taking action.
I always talk about how the market has moved and you've really seen that businesses are
part of the solution, and the environment and the economy go together.
So I think people would be interested in understanding there's a carbon pricing leadership coalition.
And you're co-chair with me. But talk about what is this carbon pricing leadership coalition? Why does it matter?
FEIKE SIJBESMA: I think like you, I'm... I have the same opinion.
We need to address climate change right now and too many people are suffering already today.
You mentioned the hurricanes, but also the flooding in Bangladesh, or the droughts in
the Horn of Africa, and people see the impact already today and we cannot continue to put the burden to our children.
So I think the best is that you and I try to achieve with the carbon pricing alliance
is to put an incentive into our economic system, facilitating, stimulating people, businesses especially, to take action.
And if we put a price on carbon, then there is an economic incentive for business to address
it right now and then we're not dependent only on people who want to do good or well
for the world, but also that every economic incentive.
And I think it would be really great if we can speed this up.
HON. CATHERINE MCKENNA: So let's talk about speeding that up.
So in Canada we have said across the country there needs to be a price on what we call pollution – carbon pollution – by 2018.
And we have a lot of businesses who are supportive.
But internationally, what's your sense?
Are businesses supportive?
Are you seeing more momentum around this?
FIEKE SIJBESMA: Well, we see that a lot of countries in the world want to achieve the
Paris Treaty – almost 100 countries – and soon we're going to evaluate where we are,
and I'm sure that we'll come to the conclusion that putting a price on carbon will speed up to achieve Paris.
So from a country perspective, I hope that more countries will follow your leadership as you do in Canada.
Europe has a system but it needs to be more effective because the prices are too low.
China is now moving towards a carbon pricing system at the end of this year.
Still maybe in a modest way, but making an important step.
And I hope that many other countries will follow.
On the company side, we have almost more than 1,000 companies right now probably who have (inaudible)
put are now putting a price on carbon.
HON. CATHERINE MCKENNA: So talk about that. Because people are probably wondering, okay, countries can do it, but if you were a business,
why would you put an internal price... why would you say, we're going to look at the
price of pollution as the way... in terms of how we do business.
FIEKE SIJBESMA: Yeah. Well, very simple. We did it – 50 euros a tonne...
HON. CATHERINE MECKENNA: Wow!
FIEKE SIJBESMA: ... 60 dollars more or less.
And why did we do so?
Because we want to make ourselves future proof.
This will come.
There will come a price on carbon.
And I say to all companies, please do it as soon as possible – this internal price on carbon.
Because we learned also, it takes a couple of years to get used to it.
How do you exactly measure?
How do you deal with your internal investments funds?
How do the different businesses report on that?
How does it work in the different countries in which you operate in the world?
All kinds of questions and things you need to sort out as a company.
And you need a couple of years to sort that out.
And I don't want to wait.
And if the price on carbon comes, and we say, oh, we need to learn how this works.
No. Our company is fully future proof, fully prepared. I still made (encourage) the rest do the same.
HON. CATHERINE MCKENNA: Well, it's really interesting because Mark Carney who used to be the Governor of the Bank of Canada
and now the Governor of the Bank of England talks about this.
FIEKE SIJBESMA: Correct.
HON. CATHERINE MCKENNA: I like the way you put it: future proofing.
But he talks about this big risk that if businesses don't act now, we're moving to a low carbon
future so there's going to be a cliff and it's going to be very hard for the businesses
that haven't taken action like yours to already price carbon because (inaudible) they will have
to do it so quickly that it may have a major impact on their bottom line.
So I think it's really great.
And I just want to thank you because it takes leadership, and there are a few leaders – business
leaders – that have really stepped up.
You are certainly one of them, and I will say that someone who recognizes the importance
of having a more sustainable future for my kids and future generations, governments need
to be working with business, and it's a real pleasure that we're able to do it together.
FIEKE SIJBESMA: I appreciate it very much and doing that together from the public sector
and the private sector this is the way to do it.
And together we'll make this world future proof.
HON. CATHERINE MCKENNA: Great. Thank you very much.
FIEKE SIJBESMA: Thank you.

Pros and Cons Of YouTube Monetization - Duration: 5:36.
For millions of youtubers creating videos is not just a creative outlet but
a source of income the easiest and most popular method of generating revenue
from YouTube videos is to monetize them with Adsense ads in this video I'll
discuss the pros and cons of YouTube monetization using Adsense you can then
decide for yourself if it's worth it or not
hello my name is herman drost from drostdesigns.com if you want to grow
your audience on YouTube and generate traffic leads and subscribers on
autopilot hit the subscribe button or hit the bell notification icon. S o what
is YouTube monetization? This is the ability to generate revenue from your
YouTube channel but it's displaying Adsense ads on your videos when people view your
videos YouTube shares some of the revenue with you 55 percent goes to the
channel owner and 45 percent goes to YouTube. Pros of YouTube monetization
no.1 generate passive income online after you've reached 10,000 public views
on your channel and connected a YouTube channel to your adsense account you'll
be able to generate a passive income online by displaying Adsense ads on your
videos after you get it all set up the income will be generated automatically
number 2 content flexibility you can pretty much monetize any Content you
want as long as the content meets YouTube's Terms of Service number 3 easy
to implement after you've connected your YouTube account to your adsense account
and enabled monetization on your channel you can begin to display Adsense ads on
your channel right away number 4 consistent revenue even though Adsense
only generates a small amount of revenue from your channel it's very consistent
as you upload more videos and generate more views on your channel your revenue
will increase number 5 pays on time Adsense which is owned and operated by
Google is a billion dollar company my experience so far after monetizing my
channel for several years is that they pay on time like clockwork
number 6 view performance reports if you log in to your adsense account at
google.com/adsense you'll be able to view your estimated
earnings your balance the countries that generate the most revenue and
optimization which is connected with Google Analytics number 7 revenue grows
with each new upload as views increase across the videos on your channel so
does your revenue number 8 no costs involved it doesn't cost anything to set
up an adsense account and connect it with your YouTube account the only
costs involved is the time to generate 10,000 views to monetize your channel
and the continuous time to upload new videos with engaging content number nine
no expertise required Adsense revenue is available to everyone regardless of
their skill set it only takes a few minutes to connect your YouTube account
to your adsense account and enable monetization on your videos click the
card icon to watch my video on how to increase Adsense revenue on your YouTube
channel. Cons of YouTube monetization number one not easy to get approved
YouTube now requires 10,000 public channel views to monetize your channel
Click the card icon to learn how to get 10,000 views fast number 2 not all
videos are suitable for advertising sometimes one of your videos will
receive a notification that they're not suitable for advertising this might
upset you initially but I find that if you request a review often monetization
will be reactivated for that video number 3 YouTube could terminate your
YouTube account a copyright strike on one of your videos will prevent ads from
being displayed on it if your appeal fails you won't be able to run ads on
that video anymore if you receive 3 strikes on your channel it will be
terminated this means you'll lose the ability to generate revenue from Adsense
from your YouTube channel number 4 Revenue fluctuates throughout the year I've
discovered that your revenue drops in the summer then picks up again in the
last quarter of the year of course this depends on your niche number 5 ad
blockers prevent your ads from being displayed if many people use ad blockers
while watching your videos it will decrease the amount of revenue you can
make from advertising on your channel number 6 don't get paid until you earn
$100 this sucks if you have a small channel and you're relying on Adsense
revenue to pay some of your bills YouTube will only send you a check after
you've earned $100 number 7 lower revenue on mobile mobile devices have
less screen space to display ads than desktop devices therefore they're less
effective and generate less revenue number 8 difficult to make good money
you need to generate millions of views from the videos on your channel to make
small amounts of money if you have a small channel it's going to take a long
time to generate a lot of revenue from adsense ads number 9 no control over the
types of ads that appear on your videos YouTube belongs to Google
a multi-billion dollar company therefore they decide what types of ads to display
on your videos number 10 displaying ads on your videos
may turn off some viewers some viewers get turned off when an ad is displayed
before the video that they want to watch
they might abandon your video instead of watching it skippable ads generate the
highest revenue compared to non skippable ads which have a high abandonment rate
because you can't turn them off monetization with Adsense is profitable
for some youtubers but not for others it depends on your revenue aspirations the
type of content you create and the kind of visitors you get if you want to learn
alternative ways to make money on YouTube without displaying Adsense ads
on your videos click the card icon you'll discover 21 monetization
alternatives to Adsense let me ask you an important question how are you
currently generating revenue from your YouTube channel post your answer in the
comments below I'd love to read them and I'm sure others would too if you want to
learn how to grow your audience on YouTube and generate views and
subscribers on autopilot click the subscribe button below and check out the

Climate Change and Agriculture in the Garden State - Duration: 14:12.
Climate change is expected to have a big impact on agriculture.
We've seen temperatures rising at a rate of about 3 degrees per century
for an annual average. We also see that the nearby ocean waters have been warming,
and there's a lower frequency of snow and ice happening especially during the spring season.
We're seeing all over
elevated temperatures
and elevated C02 levels. Since we have a large coastline here, we're seeing effects of sea level rise.
There's evidence from much of the world that the heaviest rainfall events are becoming heavier.
We also expect that as the climate warms we will see a greater frequency of short term droughts
particularly during the summer months
then a greater frequency of heat waves
and less frequent cold spells.
It's not simply working your way past
an unfortunately timed drought or a cold spell. It's more systemic than that.
It's something that we have to deal with
not just once or twice but on an ongoing basis.
If you're growing a crop like corn or
like tomatoes, it's an annual crop. You can plant something different the next year.
Planting a perennial crop,
you can't really do that.
If you're growing a crop like blueberries or grapevines
that are going to be in the ground for 30, 40
years and you have to be thinking about what is the climate going to be like as as we go along, and
how is it going to affect the longevity of my crop
Extended periods of hot weather can be a problem.
There's heat stress on the plants. There's heat stress on the help.
We do some things to help relieve that. For example, all of our apples get a sunscreen applied to them.
Watermelons, peppers all those crops are susceptible to sunburn.
Certain plants have pollination issues in hot weather—tomatoes, for example,
peppers where at certain temperatures the blossoms will fall off
due to stress.
Corn Pollen can actually be killed. An ear of sweet corn that
pollinated on a particularly hot day might have some blank spots where there's no kernels on one side.
Yields can go down.
Disease issues can can crop up.
Chilling requirement refers to
the number of days below a certain temperature that are required for a plant to flower and bear fruit.
Let's take a crop like hazelnut, which we're trying to develop. You can't grow hazelnut south of about
Virginia, because they don't have a sufficient number of chilling hours for the crop to bear fruit. As
the climate changes in the eastern part of the country the
degree to which we can satisfy that chilling requirement is
moving up the coast.
When you don't hit that chilling requirement in a year, you might not have a crop or you might have a poor crop.
This spring we ran into a situation where March was very warm.
The fruit trees started pushing very early. We knew that it was too early
from the calendar standpoint, and we were going to have a cold event
during bloom or post-bloom that would negatively
influence the crops. We decided to employ two helicopters
to try to find warm air
50 to 100 feet above the crop, push that down, force the cold air out, raise the orchard temperature by two, three degrees.
We also have a number of
tractor-powered fans that we use to push cold air out of the orchard, and we used those extensively this year.
And it helped. We have 100 percent peach crop and almost 100 percent apple crop.
Many pests that affect crops are
dependent upon temperature.
There are some that are held back by having sufficiently cold weather during the winter
to reduce their population. As we see less frequent extreme cold in winter
We may see some of these pests become more abundant.
We used to have cold winters and so a lot of,
particularly insects, but some diseases as well, would die off in the wintertime because it was too cold. But we've seen
invasive species the last couple years—brown marmorated stink bugs, spotted wing drosophila. We don't really know
whether it's weather induced or not, and really that's not our concern.
We just … these things pop up and we have to try to deal with them.
So not only do we have insects and diseases that continue over the years,
but we have new insects and diseases that have come in that are
devouring our fruits and vegetables.
Increase in C02
levels has happened dramatically just within my lifetime.
It's a wild card because frankly we don't know a lot of the effects.
Some crops
will apparently do better with higher C02 levels. Some crops will do worse with it.
We do know that some of the things like weed species
will be healthier with higher C02 levels, and so we can have
increased weed problems. Also,
there's
evidence that some of the weed killers that we use like glyphosate
doesn't work as well at higher C02 levels.
An aspect of climate change that is not
directly related to temperature, but is
indirectly related is an increase in the frequency of heavy rain events, and
of course that can often lead to flooded fields and in some places to river flooding as well.
We do a variety of things to try to minimize
both of the impacts of not enough or too much rainfall at one time.
So on the dry side of things, extended periods of drought, our farm is almost 100%
irrigated. We use a lot of drip irrigation. We have overhead irrigation. We use wells. We use surface water irrigation.
We try and make sure the water goes where it's supposed to go,
infiltrates into the ground. We use a lot of cover cropping. We use a lot of
planted swale kind of things to keep the water from running off.
We have done more no-till to reduce erosion
when it does rain hard to try to keep the soil in place.
Also,
building some infrastructure to help, such as grass waterways and diversions to carry water where it needs to be and not wash away
wash away the soil.
There are steps that farmers can take toward
mitigation.
Like the rest of us, I think it's incumbent on farmers to do
what they can to
ensure practices that don't promote
climate change any more than necessary.
Farmers have a role to play in
this area similar to the role that they've been playing with soil conservation practices, farmland preservation and
future-oriented
conservation practices, and I think with some advice from our land grant system these practices toward climate
change mitigation
could be adopted to the suite of practices that already are employed on the farm.
We're doing rotational grazing with our dairy herd. So rotational grazing is the movement of the cattle throughout the farm in
in much smaller areas. We're able to manage where they're grazing. We move them incrementally.
And the reason we do that is because the animals
provide the impact, which is good for the soil as long as that duration is very short.
Then they move on and then there's a long period of rest before
that
particular section of pasture will be grazed a second time. Doing this allows the plants to
regenerate, to build deeper root systems.
So,
the more that we are able to develop the root system of these grasses,
the more carbon we're able to take from the atmosphere and put in back into the soil.
The climate benefits of this type of low input farming would be the improvement of the soil to the point where it can
withstand drought better because organic matter
increases the water holding capacity of the soil. It reduces soil erosion.
It's also helping to put a balance into some of the the carbon that we are emitting.
So we're actually turning atmospheric carbon into organic matter and putting it into the soil.
The opportunities are there for
greater practices that would be more conscious of mitigating some of the things that are going on now with
greenhouse gas accumulation and carbon accumulation in the atmosphere.
Our farm distributes all of our food here locally—you know, within our own region.
Not only distribution of our products, but we like to source as many products as possible from local farms.
Reducing the food miles that the food that we're able to produce here on the farm to where it ends up on somebody's plate
that results in the end in less
emissions.
I think the work that we're doing at Rutgers will help farmers deal with climate change a number of ways.
One, of course, we are emphasizing
climate variability in our breeding programs. So, breeding for disease resistance,
breeding for heat and drought tolerance.
We're developing varieties that will do better under warmer conditions, for example.
And there's a high trust factor between farmers and the land grant system,
specifically Rutgers Cooperative Extension and the Experiment Station.
So we would look to the trusted advisors in the extension system to present the evidence,
documentation,
observations from research and shape the discussion around those findings.
What we need to be able to do is to be able to take our best climate science and deliver it to
the farmers in a predictive way to let people know this is what's coming,
this is what's likely coming over the course of the next five, ten years,
this is what's coming over the course of the next fifteen, twenty years.
We need all the good science that we can get to help us make the changes
we need in our operations to minimize our risk, get food on the table for people.
We need to lean on,
more than ever before, our research
institutions, our land grant system, to give production
agriculture farmers advice as to the pressure points that may be coming because of changes in the weather.
We need resources that are targeted specifically to climate change and adaptation,
so that units such as the New Jersey agricultural experiment station
can take those resources and direct them properly. This is an issue that really deserves
more work than it's getting right now.
We're just going to have to be resilient.

HOW TO SAVE MONEY with DIY HAIRCUT for MEN | The Postmodern Family EP#7 - Duration: 7:07.
This is the after-haircut result.
We're going to make a how to video on
cutting your husband's hair.
I have cut Felipe's hair since we met.
So we are going to start with lubricating the clippers
with clipper oil
it's like machine oil, and just pop it on
the blades and give it a little buzz,
make sure it's nice and lubricated.
And now we're going to start with
number zero which means nothing on the clippers
and just go across the back of the neck
in a nice straight line
getting rid of those tiny little hairs.
I really like to fade in from nothing from zero
and then we're going to go on a 1/2 level,
so up the blade to a half and now you're going
to go up the middle of Felipe's ears.
so the middle of the ears
this is now a number 1, but I'm on the 1/2 size
so technically it's a 1 and 1/2
and we're also going to do the sideburns
in the front, a little bit over the ear
going across the back
and you can take a little bit more space
it's about an inch, I would say, up to the
top of the ears.
As you can see my line isn't so straight anymore
which is on purpose.
I'm taking off more.
Now we're going to get rid of that--what you might
be able to see a line there--and by just
bringing the blade down to zero, but with
number 1 clipper on and we're just
going to hide that line, or that sudden difference
Here's the 1 and 1/2.
and now we're going from above Felipe's ears
another inch or so, and you're going to go all
the way around the back of the head as well
with this number 1 and 1/2
I need to make sure I do all the sideburns,
and so I'm going to put my number one back on again
and just do both sides as well as the ear,
around the ear
making sure they're nice and even.
Okay now we're moving on to the number 2,
Number 2, and we're going to go up
now another half an inch or so
all the way around the back
take more liberty on going a little higher
at the back of the head.
And now here's the number 3
and we are now just trying to even out
the length from the number 2
with the top of the hair which is usually much longer
so we're just going to even it out,
we don't want to push against the head entirely here.
Now it's time for our scissors.
Go ahead and snip around the ear,
make sure that those are nice and short
that usually the clippers don't get them all the way.
And then we're going to imagine Felipe's head
is the globe and there are
longitudinal and latitude lines so we're
going to cut along the latitude first.
So as you can see I'm brushing his hair back
and there are basically
latitude lines that we're going to cut
and I'm just cutting about a half centimeter to
a centimeter every time we go through
his head so we're just trying to make it
really even
and also evening out the fade from
the sides of the head to the top.
Now we're going to go across the
longitudinal lines.
So we do this criss-cross pattern
to help make sure all
the hairs are even.
we're nearing the end now...
right there you go...
a little look at what it is.
I started cutting your hair when we were just dating, right?
Why did we do that?
To save money.
How did you trust me with your hair?
I think I said, oh I'm going to go get a haircut
and you said, oh I could cut your hair I used to cut my
brother's hair and this and that, and uh
I'm not picky or particular about how my hair is done
so you just started doing it
so you were okay with the risk?
I took the risk--yeah
Yes it's been like eight and a half or
so years that you've been cutting my hair
yea, and we've done different hairstyles
well yeah so I used to get just a buzz crew cut.
This is the longest I'll wear it.
I'v never worn it longer than this--
you've had it slightly longer than this when we were
living in Baltimore.
We've only had one mishap though.
I think where the plastic clip fell off
and you kept cutting
yes yes accidentally, you know, like
number zero on like this part of his head.
That was the only that mishap that we've had
and it's been ...
In the U.S., you know, a haircut cost $15, over here it's
probably the same £15 around there
so it's a lot of savings--£5 maybe, if you're a regular
yea, and you know I get a haircuy--
I'm supposed to really be getting a haircut
every two weeks but you know schedule
gets in the way and everything and we
sometimes go three weeks sometimes even
four weeks and I look a disaster, but
she doesn't care.
I don't care, I don't think people notice.
They do, I do.
So if you like my haircut
leave a comment.
If you don't like my haircut,
also leave a comment, but either way,
leave a comment.
If you are interested in watching some more of our
videos about how we--how married life is,

you'll get some notifications hopefully.
If you guys have any questions on how I
cut his hair, feel free let me know, but
just to remind you: I am NOT a professional,
I never took any classes or lessons or anything
so what I do is just what I do
and it may be wrong but it's worked this long
and that's why I continue doing it
and it saves us money anyway.
So that was our DIY haircut at home.
See ya!

You can dance with them if you want!
I can dance with them?
Yeah!
Alright, then!
And you'll film it, right?
Yeah! They're practicing for the holidays.
Do you want to join them?
Yeah, why not.
Ok, let's go ask!
Do you know the words?
Nope!
It's a really old song.
"Would you mind if we joined y-"
They already all done!
What are these things called (in Russian)?

Can you tell me again what they actually do in this factory?
Diamonds!
They store diamonds.
And they make atomic submarines.
A lot of different things, really.
And foreigners aren't along there?
Well if you have a special invitation, it's fine.
For a conference or something like that...
I also saw that wall and thought "Wow the sea is so beautiful!"
Whipped cream!
Yeah, whipped cream!
Get the whipped cream on camera!
Lots of it here!
Like this? I have to be careful...
Whoops!
You just take it like this and...
Yep, exactly! Just rip it off.
Really tasty. I recommend everyone try this (kind of sarcastic)
I'm happy someone else likes it! Usually only I like it.
Yeah, I enjoyed it!
This is called "сыр косичка/syr kosichka" (braided cheese)
Right?
Yep.
Tasty!
It's probably the best when you combine the two.
Why don't you try it!
Check, check soundcheck! Oh wow, it's loud...
"Let's meet tonight"
And we'll smoke o-o-opium!
Let's meet up tonight.

60 Seconds With Natalia Little - Duration: 1:40.
My name is Natalia Little and I'm a policy analyst.
I work in the evaluation directorate.
So I provide support to evaluators, and evaluators provide oversight
on how Government of Canada programs and services are performing.
So we have a lot of interesting data about so many different sub-sets
of the Canadian population.
And by delving into this data we get a real sense of exactly the conditions
that these different groups face.
I mean, when I worked in the private sector, the most important thing
at the end of every day was how much profit you made, and the bottom line.
I always felt like I was missing something and I wanted to have some more meaning,
so that's what I'm getting out of this job opportunity
here at Employment and Social Development Canada.
The centre of my work is serving Canadians better
and that brings a lot of meaning to my work.
My parents are immigrants to Canada; they emigrated from Poland.
And working for this type of department, that has,
my parents have benefited from so many different programs
from Employment and Social Development Canada
and from social services that the Government of Canada has funded;
it's my way of giving back.
Oh don't put me on the spot here, my mom is going to chirp me if I do it wrong...
[Polish] I'm giving back to the country that has given so much to my family.
I'm giving back to the country that has given so much to my family.

Bipolar Disorder and Denial - Duration: 3:34.
What's up, y'all? It's Hannah.
Denial and bipolar disorder. This one is a biggie.
I mean I will never forget when I was sitting at the mental hospital
and had to receive my official diagnosis.
The doctor was like: "It's been confirmed.
You have a diagnosis of bipolar 2 disorder, Hannah.
I was like, "No. No, I don't!
Like you need to get checked for a mental health condition, man!"
It was really my curiosity that finally led to me believing
that I had a diagnosis of bipolar 2 disorder.
You know, I started Googling it.
I started researching the history.
Who had it. What stigma was.
And then I got involved in the mental health community.
And, finally, I said to myself:
"Hannah, yeah, you definitely have bipolar 2 disorder.
So I've accepted it. You know, I wear it with pride.
I'm like, "Hey! My name is Hannah and I have bipolar 2 disorder."
I've completely accepted it.
So denial is not a part of my life anymore, right?
Oh man! Denial is still a major part of my life.
I mean, I don't deny my condition anymore;
which, you know, you have to accept.
That's one of the biggest steps.
But I definitely deny my struggle
and I definitely have desensitized myself to a lot of things that
have happened to me in the past
and things that occur nowadays.
So I'm going to admit the fact that actually two months ago, I stopped going to therapy;
which I don't should suggest to anybody.
But I'm not good at taking my own advice sometimes.
And it had nothing to do with my therapist.
I mean, for real, he's like the coolest guy I've ever met.
I'm like still waiting for him to appear on Bumble so I can swipe right.
It had to do with the fact that he was digging deep into my life
and trying to get me to admit and not deny
some of the things that may have affected me in my life.
Specifically, when I was 19 years old
and I woke up to a police officer putting me in handcuffs,
putting me in the back of a cop car
and taking me to an undisclosed location.
You know, was that traumatic for you Hannah?
And I said a very familiar answer. No.
Because what people have to understand, when you live with bipolar disorder -
and a lot of you I know can relate to this,
so please share your experience below
or do a response video -
is that we are just so used to having to pretend like we're normal when we're not.
Whatever "normal" means.
You know, we can't act like or embrace that we have a different mind
because people bash us for it.
We smile when we struggle.
We wither when we walk.
And that's what I've been used to forever.
I relate that to survival with bipolar disorder.
And I know a lot of people do.
Managing bipolar disorder is a long-term thing.
You know, I feel like I'm just entering into a new chapter
living with a mental health condition.
I've accepted and embraced it,
but now I have to confront denial and bipolar disorder
in a different way because it is affecting me.
And I've seen you guys.
You've been sharing these videos with those around you;
through your social media.
So please continue to do that.
As I said before, always comment below.
And I will see you next week. Bye.

Creators For Change: ArthurPrsl - Refugees ≠ Terrorists - Duration: 4:24.
Hi you if you did not know in 2015 that is 65.3 million people who
leave their country because of the war or persecution.
In its 65.3 million people 40 million
remained in their country and finally it is 21.3 million
Refugees fleeing their country because conflicts for a living simply
safer, but it's sad to say because in 2017 there is still a small
part of humanity that makes me sad.
What we will think about that latter? (years). I would like to ask you a
question when are we going t realize that the history still going
even far from our home.
When will we be saying that all 20 minutes is families who are
leaving their country for a safer life. If for you 20 families per minute
it's nothing, and told you when a day it's not 20 families but
28 000 families. So I know some of you are going to say : refugees are better
welcomed then our homeless. Bullshit but you know what
we should ask these people, to these people we should ask them if
even using the misfortune of others (so the homeless) have you already
housed a homeless person ? to help him.
Some other people will also say : In france
we don't have the space. In France we have the space for everyone.
Marie-arlette carlotti said "We do not oppose two miseries. The state should build appropriate responses to these despairs and these concerns "
In 2014 France had 2.6 million empty housing. In France in
2016 there were 130,000 without home fixed.
So it would remain 2.47 million empty housing by housing
all the homeless in France. So there is room for everyone.
Finally some will say yes but arthur why do not they go in the countries
neighbors? Well actually they do it.
They are much to do. For example turkey hosted 2.9 million refugees
for GDP is 857.7 billion (USD)
Consequently pakistan who welcomed 1 million refugees, with a GDP
of 283.7 billion. But in France we will welcome 0,024
million refugees, which ultimately that 24,000
refugees, for a total French GDP which is still of 2.465 bln.
And in 10 years 20 years 30 years tell me you, will you want to be part
of the people who refused to help those insecure
those living in war and in precariousness or otherwise you
be able to be part of those who agreed to help whole families
who just fled the war. 'you choose'
I really think deep down that there should not be any place where the human could not be safe.
'We fear what we do not know'
Personally for me this is normal to fear what we do not know
But why we dont we learn more about them?
I have a message to convey to you I think it is our duty to overcome
hate speech, the violent speech more
violent, extreme discourses simply overcome by fraternity.
Thank you all for watching this video I hope it made you
reflect. If you want to act on this
video, it's easy you can do a donation for UNHCR.
It's an organization that help refugees all over the world.
But beyond the donation there are some things more important is simply,
inform you. Please look in the
Description there are tons of links you will be able to recover
information and deepen your knowledge.
You can also share this video at your friends.
and why not do
also think with your friends on refugee issue.
And all these questions in fact that arise. Before stopping the video
I just want to say that I really took a lot of fun
the pleasure of make people think.
After this video, maybe you
go do something else and think about and I think I have won everything.
Then from the heart, thank you all for watching the video
I say goodbye it was ArthurPrsl. See you
Ignorance leads to fear, fear leads to hatred and hatred leads to violence. That's the equation. (Averroes)

60 Seconds With Sarina De Petrillo - Duration: 1:23.
Hi. My name is Sarina De Petrillo
and I work at Employment and Social Development Canada
as a project coordinator.
In my job right now, there, we work on disability stats.
And for me that really runs home because my dad is on disability.
I know first-hand what happens to a family and what happens to a life
when an event happens and it forces someone to be on disability.
I'd say that's a part - a part of my job is knowing that somewhere out there,
someone's life is going to be easier because of what I've done.
Another part is just the people in general.
Everybody's so nice, everybody's so welcoming and I feel...
I feel like there's a place for me here.
Being here now and knowing that I'm in a place that can cultivate my growth
as a professional and as human being - that makes me...
that makes me want to stay here.
To say it's a great opportunity isn't enough.

Last Dance (Audiobook) 🎙️ a Capepunk Superhero Fiction Short Story 🎙️ by Stephen T. Brophy - Duration: 24:20.
Tall Tale TV!
Scifi and Fantasy Short Story Audiobooks
LAST DANCE Stephen T. Brophy
"This place used to be Heaven," a cigarette-smoked voice wafts my way from a barstool two down
from mine.
Nothing about the décor, vibe or clientele of Little Maxy's on South Wayside even vaguely
suggests anything divine or celestial in origin.
It's the kind of down-and-out, blink-and-you'll-miss-it stripmall dive that's just right for henchmen,
lackeys and third-tier supervillains to network, backroom deal, and drink ourselves blind between
gigs.
I hear the words and I know I've got three options, each with its own set of sub-options--A)
mind my own beverage and my own business and 1) pretend that line of patter wasn't directed
my way, 2) hoping whoever said it won't take insult and start shit anyway; B)
give them my full attention so I can determine whether this voice emanates from someone worth
1) fighting, 2) fucking, or 3) both; or C) sneak a sidewise glance and see which option
between A or B is the right call.
Being not yet that drunk and still sore from a knockdown drag-out with Lawman and Open
Carrie the night before, I opt for C. What I get in my left peripheral is a glimpse
of someone I should've clocked upon entrance, mostly because in my line of work it's the
smart play to clock everyone in my immediate vicinity at pretty much all times.
But seeing as who's seated nearby is a woman "of certain age" I know right away why I missed
her.
Poor thing's reached the point in life where she's living in Section 8 housing on the border
of Used-to-Be-burgh and Invisible City.
Doesn't help that she's hiding whatever she's got under an out-of-season puffy winter coat
and a pair of sunglasses with lenses the shape and very nearly the size of Magnavox TV screens,
never mind the fact that this bar's a black hole where light rarely enters or escapes.
Not to mention she's screened herself in a vaporous veil of tobacco haze and hunches
over her cocktail like it's the last thing she'll ever own in the world and someone might
try to swipe it out from under her.
"Like what you see, guero?" she asks, and under that sultry carcinogenic gravel I can't
tell if the accent's Cuban or Puerto Rican.
"You mean there's a person under all that?"
I ask, not bothering to twist my barstool and give her the full appraisal she seems
to be begging for.
"Person?
Pfft.
Baby, there's a legend under all this."
With that bold declaration I finally do turn a little and give her at least some of my
attention because honestly what the hell else have I got going right now?
"Well, this is where legends are born," I say, coming on all big and booming, the loudest,
pretend-happiest guy at the corner watering hole.
She lets her shades slide down her nose just a little, taking in the riffraff and rabble
peopling Little Maxy's with a contemptuous roll of her big brown bloodshot eyes.
"More like where sorry losers come to die," she spits with that sibilant Spanish hiss
that makes a certain kind of gringo--namely me--weak in the knees and firm in the nethers.
"But it used to be Heaven.
It really did."
"Do tell."
I feel kinda lame using the expression, so I dress it up in very badly British-accented
irony.
"You never been to Heaven?"
I smile at that, enjoying the ridiculicious notion of an evangelical atheist such as myself
ever passing through the Pearlies.
"Can't say I have.
And while I got every goddamn good reason to doubt I'll see the long side of thirty,
I don't imagine at my current rate of damnation that'd be the name over the door of the dive
where I'd choose to wind down for eternity.
Besides, there's not a chance in hell I'm on the guest list."
"I'm not talking about Los Cielos, pinga.
I'm talking about disco!"
There's fire in her smoggy voice that wasn't there before, and I swear I can see her eyes
light up even through the opaque lenses of her drugstore sunglasses.
"Before my time.
Thankfully."
I'm pretty sure I demonstrate as much distaste for her preferred musical genre as she just
did for all my gathered associates and acquaintances, whether I mean to or not.
I mean, 'c'mon, it's 1993 and I'm a white dope on punk, a post-adolescent manboy on
permanent testosterone overload.
I want guitars that sound like chainsaws with melodies like the grinding of bone, a rhythm
section at war with itself, the soundtrack for a doomed and blood-soaked world.
The closest I get to boogie-ing down is taking on Nazi skins three at a time in mosh pits
at the Vatican or Axiom while the Big Boys or the Butthole Surfers spike my brain with
blitzes of angst, rage and high weirdness.
She flicks her three-inch-acrylic-taloned fingers at me dismissively and regards me
with a sneer that reveals the sparkle of a diamond embedded in her left front tooth.
"Big bad boy too cool for soul, but you'll learn.
There's more to this life than misdirected anger and fuck-you fingers stabbing the eye
of Madre Tierra.
There's actual joy and warmth and sunlight to be found up in this bitch if you kick open
the saloon doors and go out there looking.
I mean, really, what's a strong young man like you doing wasting daylight inside a smoky-ass
pocilga like this?
You should be out there soaking up life, fucking some beautiful girl..."
Again she lets the sunglasses dip as she takes in my leather pants and vest over bare muscled
chest.
"...or boy or whatever you're into..."
"Hey," I start, all macho manhood-threatened indignant like how dare she think a man's
man like this could ever...
She cuts me off with a long throaty laugh that has the odd effect of making me a little
angrier and simultaneously shaming me to shut my ass up.
"Chill, gran chico.
All, I'm saying, the problem with boys like you today, you don't know how to dance."
Considering I weigh just shy of a fifth of a ton and frequently fire bullets out of what
most people call a right arm, I wanna tell her that there aren't that many boys like
me, but one glance around Maxy's kinda disproves my point.
Even my steel-plated skull is more of a henchman trendsetter than an out-and-out rarity these
days.
"Yeah, well it's not really compatible with my lifestyle," I say, regaining my cool and
wondering if I should maybe dial it down on all the studded leather gear, which is meant
to look Punk As Fuck and not S&M biker boy.
"Explains why you're sitting alone at a bar on a beautiful day.
You wanna get with a quality..."
She shrugs, again casting aspersions on my hetero bona fides.
"...individual...you really should be able to bust a move or two."
"So, what's your excuse?
I mean, you're in here drinking your day to death same as me."
"Ah, but you see, I came here with a purpose."
"As does every barfly ever."
"I'm no barfly, honey.
You ever seen me holding down this stool before?"
I gotta admit, I ain't.
"I haven't dared come into this place in over fifteen years.
Not since I lost the lease.
Couldn't bear to see what'd become of my beautiful home."
"You used to own this joint?"
"Este inodoro?
No.
I was the ruling goddess of Heaven."
"You just love sayin' that, doncha?"
"You don't name a place Heaven if you can't have a little fun with all the metaphors.
Anyway, this place used to be alive.
Jumping.
Off-the-hook.
Diverse.
And I don't just mean 'guy with a squid for a head'..."
She nods over at the pool table, where Suicide Squid is currently rookering Rawbone the Living
Skeleton.
"...though he would've been welcome, too.
We let everyone into Heaven--gay, straight, trans, post-human, subhuman, nonhuman, homo
sapiens, homo erectus, homo superior, every kind of homo you can imagine, plus extradimensional
beings, alien fungal spores, whatever you are--as long as they came to play, and with
open hearts and minds, there was always room in Heaven."
"Sounds like a goddamn utopia," I say with a sneer.
"I woulda had a hard time not kicking down the walls and unleashing a few thousand rounds."
I wave my prosthetic arm for emphasis, even though it's currently a skeletal mech hand
and not a belt-fed mini-gun.
She's a good two feet shorter than me, but she still manages to make like she's looking
down on me.
"Oh, such a tough hombre.
Is that fun for you, all that cool late-millennial cynicism?
I hope it's fun to spew, because it's goddamn boring to listen to.
But at least you understand how I feel."
She sighs and looks around the room again, squinting like she's trying to see through
the ruins of the present to whatever cheeseball pantywaist pseudo-glory clung to the space
way back in the Great Lost Whenever.
"I know its day has come and gone, just like mine, but I'll be damned if I can stand to
see my dreams end up like this.
A nice cleansing fire is about the only thing that could repair the damage done to the one
true Paradise I ever knew on Earth.
And I am here..." and as she says it she slides down off her barstool and lets her oversized
winter coat drop to the floor in one languid motion, revealing a form-fitting sleeveless
jewel-studded jumpsuit and a body that still does it justice.
"...to turn this mother out."
Someone comes in the front door and I'm momentarily blinded by a blazing white-hot sunburst as
the light hits her outfit, which I just then realize isn't rhinestone-bedazzled; she's
tricked out like a freakin' human mirror ball, one head-to-toe, Afro-to-roller skates reflective
surface that dazzles the eye.
And all of a sudden I know exactly who she is.
"Sequin...?"
She glides backwards on her skates, beckoning me with one hand while she points at the jukebox
with the other.
As soon as she does, Ozzy's "Crazy Train" stops dead in the middle of Randy Rhoads guitar
solo and after the click and clack of changing discs, a slow-burn jam starts up and takes
me a hot minute to recognize as Donna Summer's "Last Dance."
To be dead honest, I'm pretty sure that song's not even actually on that jukebox.
Or wasn't until Sequin wished it to be.
She reaches the middle of the room and kicks backwards with one wheeled foot, sending the
pool table sliding to crash against the lip of the old stage.
Squid and Rawbone are too stunned to react, and bad as they both are, they aren't really
the girl-hitting kind; it's that kind of old school chivalry that's cost us all a time
or three in a throwdown.
Superchicks do not play.
"Dance with me, gran chico, and I'll tell you about the good old days."
***
Saying I'm a bad dancer is like saying a Stage Five hurricane is lousy weather; it does nothing
to define or encompass the scope of the terribleness.
It doesn't help that every move the old girl makes is effortlessly fluid, rhythmic, sexy,
perfectly timed and executed, all in spite of having the worst possible partner on the
floor she could ever be cursed with.
She might as well be performing Swan Lake around a maypole for all that I'm bringing
to the table.
But the craziest thing is that while she coaxes and guides me without ever acknowledging the
futility of her cause, it doesn't seem to bother her one bit.
Matter of fact, she seems downright overjoyed that someone's dancing with her at all, even
a clubfooted lummox with the musical ear of a tone-deaf howler monkey and all the moves
of a flatlining patient twitching in spastic time to the defibrillator.
"You've heard of me then?"
Sequin says as she slides by me with a sassy smile that shaves twenty years of her Earth
Mama features.
"When you said you were a legend...I figured it was only in your own mind," I huff back,
barely pretending to try and keep up with her ceaseless flow.
"Sometimes I think maybe it was," she replies with a wink that makes me fantasize about
having some kind of Harold and Maude/"Maggie May" thing with this crazy old broad.
"You were Houston's favorite street hero..."
I pant. "...back in the '70s.
Protector of club kids, immigrants, junkies and winos..."
Pant-pant.
"We used to call you..."
Pant-pant. "...the Avenging Disco Godmother."
"Favorite female hero.
Ahead of every superwoman, there's a man hogging the spotlight and making sure you're in his
shadow."
"Oh yeah...who was that guy...you used to run with?
Blackhawk?"
She comes to a complete stop mid-glide, and I'm briefly aware of all the henches and hood
rats and hard guys gathered around the periphery, all eyes on us, a few amused, a couple enthralled,
most of them glowering dangerously.
"Blacknight," she says, and there's a heaviness in her voice, a sense of all the decades between
and the exhaustion that's come with it.
"Whatever happened to him?
He wasn't on the scene too long, huh?"
"An African-American vigilante taking on crime outside the law in 1970s Texas?
What the fuck you think happened to him?
He foiled the attempted kidnapping of Mayor Hofheinz's daughter by Killer Queen and Dr.
Void and the cops gunned him down.
Hasn't been a black man willing to put on a mask in this state since.
Meanwhile, Dr. Void gets a 312-year prison sentence for his laundry list of crimes but
turns out he's immortal so he'll actually get to see daylight again in another century
or so.
Texas justice."
She resumes moving as Donna Summer kicks in with what I hope is the climactic round of
the chorus to this epic disco jam that's way longer than I remember, probably because I've
never sat through the whole thing before.
I do the white man's overbite and awkwardly spasm just the parts of my body above the
waist, and only keep that up because I find this out-to-pasture heroine of historic Houston
endlessly fascinating.
"So you can see..." she says, taking me by both hands and using me to spin in faster
and faster circles as the dance anthem builds in intensity.
"...why I need to tear this place down to the beams and rafters and kick-stomp the shit
out of all the creeps, crooks and ne'er-do-wells pissing, shitting and puking all over its
sacred memory..."
My jaw--still my own real flesh and bone at the time--drops open, I'm pretty sure.
Not so much because of her intentions, but because I'm mildly panicked that she's serious
and might go through with it and maybe get herself killed.
Also slightly anxious that she's gonna come after me first.
She swings in close so that we're hip to hip and somehow she's spinning my bulk right around
with her petite curvaceous frame, which is clearly still packed tight with well-maintained
muscle.
"Not you though, sweetie.
I like you.
And I make it a policy to never ever fight with my dance partners."
She hops up and wraps her legs around my waist, still somehow keeping us both moving in dizzying
circles through sheer force of will, and plants a warm wet kiss on my mouth with her full
Latin lips.
After what seems like nowhere near long enough, she pops free and whispers sultrily in my
ear, "So unless this place is super-duper special to you for some godforsaken reason,
I suggest you clear out right after this dance."
She leans back and keeps us spinning, her arms extended, fingers outstretched toward
the crowd as if she's pointing out to herself who she plans to take on and in what order
as she observes them from her upside down vantage.
The song ends and I don't so much set her down as she springs free of me, somersaulting
into a perfect wheels-first landing and gliding around like a gold-medal figure skater doing
a victory lap.
"Sequin, I..."
She presses a finger to her lips and keeps moving, and I can tell she's building up momentum,
moving now to a song only she can hear.
I realize there's nothing I can do but stay and help, which would get me in dutch with
every fellow hench in Houston and turn my rep to overnight shit; or try to smack her
down myself, gently enough that I can get her out without serious injury to either one
of us.
But she's already forgotten about me, doing her lazy circles, cracking her knuckles like
a cage fighter, rolling her head and neck on her shoulders, totally entering warrior
mode.
That's a switch that can't be unflipped a good 89% of the time, and for anyone in nothin-
to-lose mode, that number shoots to 110 pretty quick.
I think maybe at least the right thing to do is to give somebody a heads-up as to what's
about to go down, but then I'd just be stacking the odds in favor of the house.
I cast a look around the room, all these guys and gals that are supposedly my peers, my
business associates, my friends and fuck buddies.
There's the Familiar, a total creeper who uses dark magic to get on bosses' good sides
and into women's panties; Elementa, a weather witch who a lot of us are pretty sure is responsible
for the current drought conditions in most of the Southwest; Wreak, who I think mighta
tried to kill me for my share of the Laredo job; Thundra, who definitely tried to kill
me in her bedroom on multiple occasions; the Expositioner, who talks too goddamn much;
Sinkhole the Subterranean, who pretty much everyone wishes would stick to the sewers
instead of bringing his stink topside; Motherfinger, the gangster's moll who killed her lover-boss
Bigshot to take over half the Baytown rackets; and Killer Queen him/herself, who's seen better
days but is nonetheless due for the reckoning he/she's about to receive.
Plus Suicide Squid who owes me four hundred bucks; and Rawbone, who's just a dick.
Fuck 'em, I figure.
They can either hold their own against a seen-better-days badass superheroine with a hard-on for a final
blaze of glory...or they can't.
In my effort to leave our makeshift dance floor, I realize the whole room's on Tilt-a-Whirl
from all the spinning Sequin just put me through and instead of stumbling back in the direction
of the bar I end up going the opposite way and kind of staggering into the jukebox, where
I lean for support.
I look down at the song selection and notice there's a lot of disco on offer now, most
of which I don't even recognize except by all the "Boogie-this" and "Disco-that" and
"Dance-a-rama-blah-blah" in the song titles.
So I drop in a couple of quarters and punch up Maxine Nightingale's "Right Back Where
We Started From."
Seems like an appropriate mood-setter for what's about to go down, and even this diehard
grindcore-and-grunge grump has to concede, it's a pretty damn fine little pop song.
As I sidle past the bathrooms and toward the back exit, I risk a last look back just as
Sequin snaps her long-nailed fingers.
The whole place comes ablaze with light as a spot hits her mirrored outfit, strobing
as she goes into a low spin, one foot kicked out, no contact yet, taking her time, enjoying
the moment, the music, the last gasp blast from the past.
It's not until I'm out in the parking lot, fishing for the keys to my truck, that I realize
my stupid mistake.
I shoulda played "I Will Survive."
Stephen T. Brophy is the author of the self-published "The Villain's Sidekick," a novella about
the redemption of Duke "HandCannon" LaRue, a cybernetic supervillain's henchman with
a machine gun arm, a steel plated skull, an iron jaw, an ex-wife, a precocious six-year-old
daughter and an extremely sordid past.
He's currently working on a full-length novel that will tell his entire history, from losing
his limbs in a war in the Middle East to getting his first cybernetic upgrades from a fugitive
Nazi doctor working for an ex-supermodel turned Central American drug queenpin in the Mayan
jungles of Mexico.
Brophy lives in Los Angeles with his beautiful wife, his wiseass daughter, two dogs and a
manageable mortgage.
For more information you can find him at STBrophy.com, or find him on Goodreads and Amazon.
Oh gosh, I loved this piece.
As a kid born in the 80's, this just to me back to all the stories I used to love.
I haven't checked out Stephen's novella yet, but I can guarantee you I'm on my way to go
get it right now.
The way he mixed superheroes and 80's tropes, I just absolutely died for.
Make sure to keep an eye on this guy.

I remember way back when in the olden days
Before YouTube existed

I would search the internet for French music and It was so much harder back then
So much harder
Now of course it's easier to find things cuz you Just go to nifty YouTube.
You lucky Jerks
However I'm not going to let this stop me from sharing my favorite French Songs with you
So here are 10 french songs that I love and They are in no particular order! Let's go
Mika Elle Me Dit.
She told me. This song is about an overbearing mother
It's a Great song and it has such an upbeat chorus. That it's really fun and amusing and
The Lyrics are Really Amusing
Amir - J'ai Cherche
I looked. So this artist was in the voice and
Represented France in the
2016 Eurovision song contest which I know you all know about
Unless you live in America
It's epic It's epic
There Will be a video about It someday
The chorus is in english which makes It a lot easier for me to sing with
It's a very inspirational and uplifting song and
I like the video because it sort of touches on gender stereotypes
Vianney - Les Filles D'Aujourd'Hui
The girls of today
This is a very beautiful duet and ballad and it's just overall it's a very cute and
Pretty Song. It's about how love has changed from
modern times to way back when. It's a good listen. T
his One's a Very Tricky title for me it's
Les Maudits Mots D'Amour. I have no idea what that means either.
Anyway every year in france there's a big musical and this song comes from the Le Rouge et Le noir which is a book
It's a Classic French novel. It's about a young man who tries to rise up through the ranks in society
Needless to say there are a lot of songs from this musical and all of them are
stunning. However this song has the entire cast and it is my favorite.
Kids United On Ecrit Sur Les Murs
This Is a children's group that was created to support Unicef
It's a beautiful song that has a very good and uplifting message and
The Children are incredible singers! Their first album went gold and then their Second Album
went double platinum. So they are definitely worth Checking out
Ta l- Are We Awake
This song I heard for the first time for the opening of The tour de France
She is an incredible Dancer and
She can sing in french and in english and i love all her songs but this one is my favorite
It's great! I love her Just
I love her!
Indila - Tourner Dans Le Vide
Turn Into the void
This song Is very haunting and beautiful
She has a very distinct voice and
I'm not sure that she can even really be compared to any English Singer if I were though I would say
Sort of like Adele but not really. All her songs are incredible, and i love them, but this one's my favorite
Because it's a fairytale princess themed video

Why Kathryn Why
You're welcome
Stromae - Papaoutai
So for the longest time
I did not get this reference
Because I speak french as a 2nd language but papaoutai is a play on words
for Papa ou est toi,
Which translates to papa where are you?
and that's essentially the whole premise of the song is talking about an absentee father
Stromae is extra special because he's Belgian. so we have to give him extra love and support
you can ignore all the other songs but not his
One of the things that I really appreciate from this artist is that he is a rapper
but he
Dictates and really pronunciate his words
So I actually understand like everything that is being said in the song
which when it comes to French rap doesn't always happen
so if you are studying French this is a good song to listen to
because it's easy to understand
and that counts a studying!
It does!
