Youtube daily report Apr 9 2018

Hey there!

Welcome to Life Noggin!

If you didn't already know, Ronbus is my best friend.

He's great, he's really good and soccer for some reason even though he's never played,

and I want more friends just like him...

Exactly like him.

It's easy to clone in my world.

My animator can just copy and paste, and voila, I've got 20 best friends.

I am gonna need way more guacamole now.

But what if you wanted to clone your best friend or even yourself?

How would that even work?

Cloning is the process of producing a genetically identical copy of a living organism.

It can be done on many scales, from replicating basic DNA to a complete genetic copy of a

living thing.

Scientists have cloned a bunch of animals in the last 100 years, most notably, the infamous

Dolly the Sheep in 1996.

Now, we've got cloned cows, horses, cats, and dogs running around and just recently,

two cloned monkeys joined the party.

This part smells really bad guys...if we could just clean some stuff up a bit?

If we can clone primates just like monkeys, can we do it with humans?

The most successful and well-known method of cloning full living things is Somatic Cell

Nuclear Transfer.

Scientists take an ovum from a female of the species they're cloning and remove all the

DNA from inside.

Then, they take the nucleus of a somatic cell, like a skin cell, from the thing they want

to clone and insert it into the egg.

The egg is then implanted into a surrogate, who carries the egg until it's born.

Now that scientists have cloned a non-human primate, we're closer than we've ever

been to cloning a person, but there's still a ways to go.

The success rate for these monkeys was super low, as it often is with cloning.

The scientists started out with 127 eggs and only ended up with 2 monkeys, meaning their

success rate was only 1.6%.

One of the biggest struggles with cloning primates has to do with spindle proteins.

They're crucial in cell division and development, and, in humans, they reside in the nucleus

of an egg.

So, when the nucleus is removed to make room for the new DNA, those spindle proteins are

removed too, making embryonic development that much harder.

Say we found solutions to biological issues like this, navigated our way through the complex

ethical implications, and successfully cloned a human,

would your clone be just like you?

If you're 5' 10" with brown hair and blue eyes, maybe your name is Steve, who knows?

You'd expect your clone to look the same, right?

Isn't that what cloning is?

Well you may be surprised to learn that your clone could look completely different!

Your appearance is based on genes, yes, but it also depends on the fetal environment you

grow in and which genes are turned off or on.

Your clone could also be very unhealthy.

Many cloned animals suffer from defected brains, hearts, and livers, and immune system problems.

In lots of clones, the tips of their chromosomes shrink quicker, meaning cellular aging happens

faster than normal too.

So your clone could be really sick and die prematurely.

Plus, your clone could have a completely different personality than you do!

While your personality is based on some genetics, it's also formed through experiences and

upbringing.

Just because Ronbus is super friendly, motivated, and likes puzzles, doesn't mean your clone

would.

The Ronbus clone could be mean, dishonest, and hate puppies!

So unless your clone had the exact same development and experiences you did, it really wouldn't

be you.

With all this being said, would you wanna clone yourself still?

Let us know in the comment section below.

and that's because in order to bring these animals back scientist need bits of their

genetic material that have been salvaged, and sadly DNA from dinosaurs hasn't survived

long enough to be used here.

As always, my name is Blocko, this has been Life Noggin, don't forget to keep on thinking!

TERRI: Hey, I'm Terri Savelle Foy, your cheerleader of dreams.

Hey, if you've never subscribed to this podcast, just push the

little red button right there to get consistent teaching tools

and tips to help you live your dreams. Today, I want to talk to

you about life begins at the end of your comfort zone. You know,

any time you're getting ready to go to a new level, the next

level of your life, it's going to demand leaving a place of

comfort, and that's not fun. I've discovered that God never

allows us to get too comfortable for too long. He's constantly

stretching us to do new things, to launch out, to dream bigger.

We can't stay in the safe zone all of our lives and expect to

live our dreams. In fact, God said to Joshua, "You have not

passed this way before." Well, God is saying that to you today,

that new things are on the horizon for, but you have to

step out in the faith. Just when we think, "I've got a system in

place. I can rest here." It's like God says, "It's time for

something new. Something big, expensive, costly,

uncomfortable, and sometimes downright scary." In fact,

somebody once said, "Comfort and convenience run the lives of

unsuccessful people." Now, I promise, this is a motivational

podcast, but you know, I've discovered in my own life, I

remember years ago, when I first graduated from college, I went

to work for my dad who's a minister, and my first job was

to transcribe little tapes, like listen to cassette tapes, word

for word, and write them down. Just type them up. Well that led

to my dad saying, "I want you to turn those transcripts into

books. Like become a ghost writer." Well that stretched me

out of my comfort zone. I was so scared that I was going to

delete content that he wanted. Well, I ended up writing more

than 25 books for him, and I got comfortable. I wasn't stretching

anymore. In fact, this is one of the books I wrote in two and a

half weeks. In other words, I got comfortable. Well, then I

remember when they asked me to supervise the whole media

department. That pushed me out of my comfort zone. That meant

overseeing the success of our website, magazine, resources,

books, CDs, TV show. Well, again, I had to step out of my

comfort zone. But then, little by little, I began to learn what

I could. I was able to talk about branding with confidence,

talk about target audiences, demographics, ROIs, things like

that. I met with the best producers and media marketing

specialists, and we ended up producing a successful TV show,

but I got comfortable. Then I remember when they wanted me to

be on the TV show with my dad, and I thought, "What? With this

voice? I don't want to be in front of people. I love being

behind the scenes." Well, you talk about stepping out of my

comfort zone. In fact, you know, I remember the first time I

started doing television, I was sitting in the parking lot in my

car on the phone with my best friend, crying going, "I don't

want to do this. I'm scared." Well, as a result, I began doing

the openings and the closes with my dad. Then it led to

co-hosting the TV show, which I did for 10 years, and we saw our

response go up, and we saw good results. I wasn't crying in the

parking lot anymore, and I loved it. In other words, I started to

get comfortable. Same thing when I became the CEO of my dad's

organization. That meant overseeing the finances, the

personnel, the media department, everything, and seven offices

around the world. Well, talk about stepping out of my comfort

zone. I remember the first time I went to a CEO workshop, and

when I was checking in, the lady looked at me like, "The Mary Kay

conference is around the corner." I was like, "No, I'm a

CEO." Well, I met with the best CEOs. I began to learn and

educate myself, and I did that for 11 years and saw great

success with our impact around the world, but then I got

comfortable behind my beautiful black desk. And then again ...

It's like it never ends because it doesn't ever end. In fact, I

remember when the Lord put it on my heart that it was time to

resign as CEO, move to Rockwall, Texas, open up offices from

scratch. I mean, we needed everything. Computers, desks,

chairs. We needed paper. We needed everything. I was like,

"I don't want to. I'm comfortable leading out." I was

very comfortable and safe there. Well, my dad had already built

everything for me. I'd been working with him for 22 years.

We had an entire customer service department, accounting,

shipping, TV studios, a team of people working with me. I had a

comfortable salary, insurance, retirement. Nope. The Lord said,

"It's time to start from scratch. Give it all up. All

this comfort and security and go." Well, we launched out

September 2014, and by December of that year, our ministry had

doubled. So, my point is, every time I've just sucked it up,

made myself launch out of my comfort zone, it's far exceeded

my expectations. In other words, you will never regret obeying

God. Everything you've ever wanted is one step outside your

comfort zone. Brian Tracy said, "Move out of your comfort zone."

He said, "You can only grow if you're willing to feel awkward

and uncomfortable when you try something new." Well, it's scary

though. In fact, the Lord said to me one time, "Terri, you're

so afraid of missing it, but that works both ways. You could

miss it if you do nothing." In fact, I remember, in 2009, I

just got away with the Lord, grabbed a journal and a pen, and

I just imagined my life in the future if I don't step out of my

comfort zone. I mean, I didn't have any distractions. I just

sat there and pretended nothing changes in my life from what I'm

doing today, and it's 10 years from now. Am I happy? So I

literally ... I wrote it out. I wrote out my life in the year

2019, added up my age, my daughter's age, how long I

would've been serving as CEO, what my daily routine is like,

and by the end of this picture that I painted on paper, I was

utterly miserable, and it wasn't that my life or my job were bad.

They were amazing, but it was because deep, down inside, I

knew God had more for my life, and I believe you do too. In

fact, I remember saying, "I'm comfortable financially. Rodney

and I go on amazing vacations, but how many scrapbooks can you

make of Rodney and Terri on the beach?" I wrote, "I was created

to do so much more with my life." Well, that exercise fired

me up to not come to the end of my life with nothing but regret

and some Hawaiian scrapbooks. Well, if you're in that stage

that I was where you know God has more, but you're hesitant to

leave that place of comfort, I'm believing this podcast is a

divine appointment to stir you up to step out. In fact, I heard

TD Jakes share a message years ago about a nest, and basically

he was saying, "Don't die in your nest." Well, oh Lord, did

it wake me up. Of course he was shouting in my ear and sweating

and stuff, but it was the most powerful message for me during

that transition, and he began to explain what is a nest. Of

course, this is a really cute fancy one, but a nest is a safe

place, a comfortable place, a secure place. In other words,

it's a comfort zone. Now keep in mind, the nest that initially is

a blessing, it becomes a curse if you stay in it too long. Well

God said, "I will lead you as the eagle stirs her nest." Now

keep in mind, stirring the nest, that only happens when the

eagles have grown too big to live in something so small. So

are you too big to be living in something so small? Is it tight

in your nest? But maybe you stay there because it's familiar,

it's comfortable, it doesn't demand too much of you? Well TD

Jakes explained. He said, "The same mother who made it cushy

and comfortable and nice and relaxing comes along with the

same beak and starts stirring the nest so that the protrusions

that were once on the outside now are pointing on the inside,

making it uncomfortable for you to stay in your nest." In other

words, what nourished you at one stage in your life, well, it's

too small for what God wants to do in your life now. Think about

it. If an eaglet, on it's own, would just fly out of the nest,

then the mom wouldn't have to stir the nest. In fact, Job

said, "I thought I would die in my nest." Well, have you ever

been in a situation that you thought wouldn't change, and

then God comes along and starts stirring things up, and you

think, "What is going on in my life? Like what happened?" Well,

it's just God saying, "I'm stirring the nest. It's time to

go to the next level." In other words, you can't rest in your

nest anymore. Suddenly, you'll start seeing things differently.

You start saying, "I never realized how small this is, how

limited this is." In other words, I've got to get out. I've

got to go to the next level. See, you're not supposed to stay

there. You were supposed to start there. You were never

meant to be housed in something so small. Suddenly you're going

to realize the world out there is bigger than the world in

here. The Bible says we will soar up with wings as eagles,

right? Well, as long as you stay in the nest, you can't spread

your wings, and you can forget about soaring, so let me just

say, you may be feeling like God is telling you to leave a place

of comfort, a job, a career, start a new thing in your life,

a new business, a ministry, an outreach, a career change, or

just start pursuing that bigger dream that's in your heart. In

fact, I remember texting my dad, and I was crying saying, "Dad, I

didn't know it was going to be this hard." Like to leave his

ministry, and my dad texted me back a powerful statement that I

want you to hold on to. He said, "Terri, transition is God's way

of promotion." Transition is God's way of promotion. Well, I

don't know what God may be speaking to your spirit, but I

know we must never get too comfortable. As long as you're

comfortable, you're not growing. So transition is necessary in

order for you to pursue the next assignment that God has for your

life. Well, I want to just take a moment to recognize our

subscriber of the week, and this is Ruth Junior. Ruth Junior

says, "God bless you, Terri, for your good work." She said, "You

have inspired me and motivated me all these years." I

appreciate that, and it's an honor to do this. She said,

"Through your inspirations, I was able to discover my calling,

and I'm now living my dreams." She said, "I'm looking forward

to host a big conference with you one day very soon. God

richly bless you." Well, Ruth Junior, I'm cheering you on, and

I'm so proud of you to hear that you're living your dreams. And

just remember, those of you watching, anytime you're getting

ready to go to a new level, the next level of your life, it will

demand leaving a place of comfort. I have a feeling Ruth

has left that comfort zone. So I want to help you step out of

your comfort zones so you can go after all that God has for you.

I've developed simple, yet effective exercises to help you

do this. This is going to help challenge you in the best way

possible, and all you have to do is click the link in the

Q&A – Should I fertilize my shrubs in the spring? - Duration: 3:26.

Should I fertilize my shrubs in the spring?

So, what do you think about that, our horticulturist?

- Well, absolutely, yeah, you wanna fertilize in the spring.

Now, timing's varies on some, particularly things like azaleas.

We tell people to fertilize after they bloom, and so the blooming time can be very wide.

The only reason is the flower bud

is set at the very end of last year's growth, and if you fertilize early and force that

growth out, you cover your bloom, so

we don't fertilize azaleas until after they bloom and then usually again around the first

of June.

Most perennials I like to

feed every 60 days or so up until about July or so.

Lawns, once a month, you know, they're heavy feeders.

Roses are heavy

feeders, wanna fertilize those once a month.

- What are you fertilizing your shrubs with?

- Well, you know, it's kinda hard to tell you.

I use an all-purpose, a 12-6-6 formulation.

You know, when you walk into a

store and you see fertilizers says rose food 6-10-10, 12-8-4, all these different numbers

and they're specifically for

roses, well there's no way they can tell you exactly what you need 'cause they don't know

your soil.

What they're doing is

getting you to fertilize and that's the most important thing is getting some food down

on that plant and getting it growing

and that makes you happy, okay, so you'll see the results that you want, whether or

not it might be exactly the right

nutrients, who knows, but it works.

- It works.

- Yeah.

- Mr. D, anything to add to that?

- The only thing I would, again, I'd go back to soil testing you know, since soil test

is the only way that you can be sure,

and when you go with a routine fertilizer like that, you need to keep in mind that phosphorus

is more stable than any of the

other elements, and if you continue to put that third number, that phosphorus out there,

two or three years in a row, then

it is very likely that your phosphorus levels will get to excessively high levels, and if

you have excessively high levels

of phosphorus, it can interfere with the uptake of your other nutrients, so potassium on the

other hand, it doesn't stay

there that long, it will leach out over a period of three or four months, nitrogen,

four to six weeks, unless its sulfa

coated or you know, a slow release type, so just kinda keep that in the back of your mind

that the phosphorus is very very

stable and it can tend to accumulate over time and that's why you do need to check that

soil every once in a while, and if

that's the case, then you're gonna need to go with somethin' that's gonna be like 6-6-0

or, you know, you go with somethin'

that doesn't have any phosphorus for two or three years...

- ...you were talking about the pH that like a pH up around 6, 6.5, azaleas, hollys, dogwoods

like a pH 5.5 and down,

blueberries 5 to 4.5, so, you'll wanna make sure that you're fertilizing with the right

thing, you don't wanna bring the pH

down in your box woods or raise it in the other ones.

A good classic example are hydrangeas, you know, put a little, make

'em acidic, they turn blue, make 'em alkaline, they turn pink, and it takes just a little

bit of stuff to make that swing.

SMARTEST Animals In The World! - Duration: 14:16.

From recognizing faces to mediating arguments, here are 10 of the smartest animals in the

world!

10.)

Manta Ray While much is still unknown about the manta

ray, scientists have discovered that they have the biggest brains of all the world's

fishes, which is about 32,000 species total.

The brain of the manta ray is known to be about ten sizes bigger than the white sharks.

It is also big in comparison to their body.

A manta ray's smarts has recently been compared to that of a gorilla!!

Who would have known, right??

Giant manta rays often jump right out of the water, possibly as a form of communication

or even play.

They are also known to recognize themselves in mirrors.

In a 2016 study, scientists found that captive mantas swam repetitively back and forth in

front of a mirror for an unusually long time, while they examined body parts that they otherwise

wouldn't see and they seemed to know it was their own reflection.

They display intelligent behavior, such as coordinated and cooperative feeding.

9.)

Dogs Man's best friend has been hanging out with

us for as long as 32,000 years!!

While scientists argue about how to measure intelligence exactly, the average dog is said

to have the intelligence of a 2-year-old child although some breeds are smarter than others.

As pack animals, dogs understand social structure and obligations and are capable of learning

how to behave around other members of the pack.

Dogs will correct each other's behaviour and reward each other for acting accordingly.

But just because they can learn and obey commands, it doesn't mean it is the only street smarts

they have.

Do you know what breed is considered the most intelligent in the world??

Go ahead and write your answer in the comments below!

The answer is coming up!!

Psychologically, dogs are more similar to us than we know.

They can feel empathy and are sensitive to our emotions.

They like to make eye contact and can understand what different looks mean, unlike wolves who

always assume looking them straight in the eye is a challenge!

By making eye contact with your dog in a friendly way, we increase our oxytocin levels which

is sometimes referred to as the "love hormone".

A study found that dogs see us as part of their family and they prioritize human smells

over all other smells.

They react to subtle cues and their brain responds when they hear emotional sounds like

crying or laughter.

Apes who are much closer to us genetically have a hard time understanding us.

Dog lovers probably already knew how smart their dogs were, but scientifically it has

been hard to prove.

There is a reason that dogs are chosen as guide dogs, because they can generalize.

They can apply training to new places and experiences they have never had before.

You probably think that your dog is the smartest, but as to the most intelligent breed?

The answer is the Border Collie!!

Why?

They were bred to be workaholics and would spend all day listening to commands and organizing

and managing different kinds of livestock.

This isn't to say other breeds aren't as smart.

Poodles and German Shepherds are a close second as they are said to have the intelligence

of a 4-7 year old child.

Border collies are able to make other animals do what they want, and they might manipulate

you too if you aren't careful!!

They are extra focused and are great at all kinds of dog sports.

These dogs excel at high jump, utility courses, fly-ball, and can even excel in dog dancing

competitions.

They have an amazing sense of smell, which makes them widely accepted as great tracking

dogs.

They can also be trained as drug dogs and take part in search and rescues.

A border collie named Chaser, learned at least 1,000 words!

They make great companions and can anticipate what will happen next.

Is your dog super smart?

Let us know about your dog in the comments below!

8.)

Pigeons This one might surprise you since they are

usually just hanging around waiting for crumbs and are kind of dirty and gross.

Pigeons are considered to be one of the most intelligent birds on the planet and able to

undertake tasks previously thought to be the sole preserve of humans and primates.

The pigeon has also been found to pass the 'mirror test, which means it can recognize

its reflection in a mirror, and is one of only 6 species, and the only non-mammal, that

has this ability.

Pigeons have also passed intelligence tests that show they can remember hundreds of images

after several years.

In fact, a new study showed that pigeons were able to categorize 128 photographs into 16

categories, like "shoes" and "trees".

They can also be taught to perform a sequence of movements and to discriminate subtle differences

between two objects.

As a bonus pigeons are also able to find their way home, even when they are blindfolded.

They have better eyesight than humans do and have been trained by the US Coast Guard to

spot orange life jackets of people lost at sea.

They carried messages for the US Army during World Wars I and II, saving lives and providing

vital strategic information.

And now for number 7 but first be sure to subscribe!!

7.)

Chimpanzees The chimpanzee is widely regarded as the animal

that is most closely related to us.

Studies show that we share over 90% of our DNA and our genomes are 98% identical.

Studies that have been going on for the past 30 years have shown that chimpanzees can learn

to take on a lot of tasks that humans do, such as household chores and even learning

sign language.

One chimpanzee, known as Lucy, learned over 100 signs and combined them to make original

words.

Another chimpanzee, known as Washoe, learned approximately 150 signs.

She also excelled in areas like tickling, food, and play.

She adopted another chimp called Loulis as her son and began teaching him the same things

she had learned.

In the past it was believed that using tools was a thing that only humans did but actually

many other animals have proven to use tools too, so that doesn't really separate us

much.

Chimps make and use their own tools, and even weapons to go out and hunt in organized groups

and warfare on other groups of chimps.

In several studies chimpanzees did better than humans on memory tests.

They can work together to get things done and will console losers and help mediate within

the group to restore peace after a fight.

6.)

Pigs Pigs just might be the smartest domestic animals

in the world.

Even though pigs are known to be dirty, silly creatures, they are actually extremely clean

and highly intelligent.

A new study showed that pigs could use mirrors to find their food and could deceive other

pigs and fake them out so they could eat more.

Both domestic and wild species are known for their ability to adapt to a variety of different

environmental conditions and quick learners.

They can be trained to do all kinds of tricks and certain big breeds have become a favorite

pet in the U.S. Pigs are also extremely flexible.

They are curious and insightful animals who are widely accepted as being smarter than

a 3 year old.

They are highly social animals and enjoy exploring their environment, sunbathing, socializing

and playing with their friends.

They also dream like humans, snuggle, and sleep nose to nose.

So...yeah, doesn't make you feel good about eating them does it?

5.)

Octopuses People have been admiring the octopus and

its mysterious eyes for centuries!

A roman writer, Claudius Aelianus wrote in the 3rd century that the octopus was crafty

and mischievous.

Octopuses have the largest brains of any invertebrate.

The common octopus has 500 million neurons in its body but only about 130 million neurons

are in its brain.

A human has 100 billion neurons.

The remaining octopus neurons are actually in its arms and they all form part of a large

nervous system that helps it to use their tentacles to change color, touch, taste, and

even grow back if something happens to it.

In a sense, each arm has a mind of its own.

Animals are good at different things- aren't we all?- so it is hard to compare each animal's

intelligence to another but what octopuses can do is pretty awesome!!

They can navigate mazes, use visual clues and even unscrew jars to get the food that's

inside.

And they can even unscrew a jar when they are inside of it to get out!

Octopuses are professional escape artists and can often be found in the hull of crabbing

boats, feeding on the catch.

These animals have incredibly keen eyesight, sense of touch, and are very fast.

One example of what an octopus can do happened at the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium when one

of them decided to flood the tank by turning a valve and allowing hundreds of gallons of

water to overflow the tank.

Another example is Inky the octopus who made an escape at the National Aquarium of New

Zealand.

The lid of Inky's tank was left ajar at night, and he took advantage of this by climbing

out, walking across a room to a drain opening, and squeezing down a 160ft (50 meters) pipe

to the open ocean.

Sound familiar?

It is kind of the basis for the Disney-Pixar movie Finding Dory!

In other aquariums, the octopuses have learned how to squirt jets of water to the light bulbs

in their tank to short-circuit the power supply and turn the lights off.

They also can recognize different people and will treat them differently.

4.)

Dolphins You probably already know that dolphins are

smart but just how smart they are might surprise you.

If we consider ourselves as the most intelligent species, dolphins have a lot of similarities

to our human intelligence.

The more we study them, the smarter they are.

The brain of an adult bottlenose dolphin is 25% heavier than an adult human brain.

The ratio of brain size to body size is 5.6 whereas chimpanzees have 2.48.

Each dolphin has their own unique whistle and the others of the pod will use it to call

each other by name.

Dolphins develop strong emotional attachments and show empathy towards others.

They are often found staying with members of their group who are injured or sick.

They also can learn extremely quickly which is why they are used at aquatic parks and

even for military operations.

Dolphins will take what they have learned and teach other dolphins to do the same things.

A dolphin named Kelly at the Institute for Marine Mammal Studies in the US, learned that

if she used her fish treats to lure a sea gull into the pool, they would give her lots

of fish as a reward.

She taught her calf and the other dolphins to do the same thing and now "gull-baiting"

is a popular activity for these dolphins since they can get a lot more fish than just the

one they are using as bait.

They can learn things just by watching and love to play which is sign of deep intelligence.

Sometimes they need to let off a little steam too!

They can also get bored and be extremely cruel, depending on their mood and what is going

on in their life.

3.)

African Grey Parrots The African Grey is a species of parrot that

is found in the West and Central African rainforest.

Parrots have long been able to show that they can mimic human speech, but this parrot can

associate words with their meaning and form small sentences.

They can learn to speak up to 1,000 words.

To prove that African grey parrots are one of the smartest species of birds, scientists

have performed many studies testing their intelligence because of the amount of vocabulary

they have to communicate with us.

Dr. Irene Pepperberg was responsible for training Alex.

Alex helped prove to the world that these birds have the mental and emotional capacities

of a 5-year-old human child.

They can solve puzzles, express emotions, and use new words to create new sentences

they haven't been taught just by understanding their meaning.

2.)

Elephants In many cultures elephants are seen as a symbol

of wisdom and are known for their incredible memories. They create mental maps and are said

to remember exact locations of watering and feeding holes they haven't visited for years.

Elephants clean their food and use tools in various ways in the wild.

They have the largest brain of any land animal and it is believed that elephants can learn

different languages.

Through a study in the UK, it was concluded that elephants learn how to tell a person's

age, ethnicity, and gender by the language and way the person speaks.

Other studies have known that elephants have empathy and can show emotion.

In another study, elephants used both physical contact and vocal sounds as forms of comfort,

stroking one another with their trunks and emitting small chirps.

Along with this, elephants also can mimic the voices of humans.

In 2012, an Asian elephant named Koshik baffled researchers when they realized he could say

five words in Korean.

While it is almost certain Koshik doesn't comprehend the meaning of the words, the researchers

believe he began mimicking sound as a way to bond with humans, which were his only form

of social contact as a young elephant.

1.

Ravens Ravens aren't just creepy birds, they have

been admired throughout history for their wily ways and many cultures have stories about

them.

Ravens and their relatives such as crows and magpies are reputed to be really, really smart.

Ravens have 15 to 33 categories of recorded vocalizations.

They also play games and tricks on each other.

National Geographic reported that experiments have shown that ravens have cognitive levels

equal to people and some other great apes.

They and their family members have great problem-solving capabilities and can plan for future events.

Scientists used to think that that was a uniquely human characteristic since most animals live

in the present.

Thinking about the future is really abstract and even monkeys are unable to solve the tasks

that these birds can.

Crows living in urban areas are known to gather nuts from trees and then place them in the

street for passing cars to crack open the shells.

Then, after waiting patiently for the light to change, they go back to the street to retrieve

their nutty snack.

Crows have been proven to count, distinguish complex shapes, and perform observational

learning tasks.

The New Caledonian Crow has been intensely studied because of its ability to use tools

in its every day search for food.

They will make little knives by cutting leaves and stalks of grass.

Perhaps the most interesting thing about the birds in the corvid family can also remember

individual human faces so try not to bother them too much unless you are wearing a mask!

How Cambridge Analytica Exploited the Facebook Data of Millions | NYT - Duration: 2:33.

In 2014, you may have taken a quiz online,

something that looked like this.

And if you did, you probably shared your personal data,

and your friends' personal data, with the company

that worked for President Trump's 2016 campaign.

Here's how it happened.

It begins with a research firm, Cambridge Analytica.

C.A. partnered with a U.K.-based academic, Aleksandr Kogan,

who was using Facebook data for research purposes.

Quizzes were sent to around 300,000 Americans.

They looked innocuous — over 100 personality traits

to agree or disagree with.

And you got paid less than $5.

But there was a catch.

To take the survey,

you had to log into Facebook,

which gave Kogan access to your profile,

including your birth date, location

and, most importantly, your Facebook likes.

Kogan combined the quiz results with your Facebook data

to develop a psychometric model,

a sort of personality profile.

He then combined this with voter records

and sent them to Cambridge Analytica.

C.A. claims that these models were the heart

of how they profiled you —

your neuroses and other exploitable traits.

But Kogan and C.A. didn't stop there.

His app also grabbed the personal data of your Facebook friends

and compiled similar profiles of them.

In just months,

270,000 people took Kogan's survey,

and the data of up to 87 million friends was also harvested —

close to one-quarter of all U.S. Facebook users.

C.A. then used that data to target people,

maybe you, with political messaging.

C.A. said this targeting helped the Trump campaign's strategy,

but the campaign disputes this.

Kogan's work claimed to be for academic research,

but he also shared your information with Cambridge Analytica —

a violation of Facebook's policies.

So, was it a data breach?

Facebook says no — that no passwords were stolen

and no systems were infiltrated.

But Mark Zuckerberg has said it was a breach of trust

between Facebook and its users.

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission

is investigating the case.

Using a Light Meter: Two Minute Tips with David Bergman - Duration: 2:36.

So what the heck is this thing?

Listen there are two types of people in the

world, if you're the kind that has one of

these gathering dust in your camera bag

and you should watch this tip! If you

have no idea what this is, then you

should watch this tip! So this thing is

called a light meter. To understand how

light meters work you need to know a

little bit about how light works. No

matter which direction it's coming from,

light eventually hits your subject, and

then bounces right off when you take a

picture! The meter inside your camera

reads the amount of light that's

reflecting off your subject, and hitting

the camera sensor. An external light

meter reads the incident light. That

tells you exactly how much light is

hitting in the first place, and it's not

influenced by the reflected light, so who

cares? Well you probably learned in

elementary school, that different colors

absorb and reflect different amounts of

light! So even though the same amount of

light might be hitting a black wall and

a white wall, they reflect different

amounts of light back.

I can prove this by zooming in on a dark area of this

wall, and taking a picture on shutter

priority using 400 ISO at 1/80th of a second.

The cameras meter is calibrated to what's

called 18% gray,

which is a neutral light grey color. So

it reads the light reflecting, and will

want to lighten the dark wall to make it

grey! The aperture it selects is f/5.6 at

the same time. if I shoot a bright part

of the wall, the camera also wants to

make it the same color gray. So it closes

down the aperture all the way to f/16 to

darken the bright wall. The problem is

that I want the dark wall to stay dark,

and the bright wall to stay bright. I

want it to look exactly like it does to

my eye by using an incident light meter!

I can measure the actual amount of light

that's hitting the wall in the first

place. It doesn't look at the reflected

light at all, so it doesn't know or care

a bright or dark the wall is. I can set my

light meter using the same two numbers

that I used in my camera. 400 ISO at

1/80th of a second, and it tells me the

aperture should be f/10. now I can set my

camera manually, and see that the dark

wall is dark, and the bright wall is

bright, just like they should be. Now look,

I know you can eyeball your exposure on

the camera screen, and adjust, but it's

hard to see in bright daylight, and those

aren't always super-accurate, because

those screens are made to be punchy,

contrasting and saturated, so everything

looks really good, so by learning to use

an incident light meter you can have

total control over your exposures, and

prevent your camera's meter from being

fooled too easily!

Hey don't forget that I've got new Two

Minute Tip video every Monday at 11

o'clock Eastern so punch that subscribe

button down there, and you won't miss

anything, including a bunch of other free

photo shows from my friends at AdoramaTV!

Tiesto, New York, gym. Random questions for Av3k - Duration: 6:00.

Hello, everyone! I'm Av3k, and today I will be answering random questions!

How did you learn Russian?

Cypher told me I need to learn Russian in order to join Virtus.pro.

Jokes aside, I've known Russian for a couple of years already,

Known is too strong of a word - I merely understand Russian well and try to chat with Russian people,

I have close friends from Russia, and I've always studied Russian via self-learning.

What's the funniest Russian word for you?

I've always liked the word "бабло [bablo]" [Slang for "cash"].

I have no idea why, but it sounds rather hilarious to Polish native speakers.

What does it mean in Polish?

Bablo means - how do you say it in Russian - it means "utter nonsense, madness."

Have you ever missed a flight?

Yes, many times.

A couple of years ago I overslept and missed my flight.

One time I couldn't arrive in time because I got stuck in traffic.

And also some other things; one time I had missed my flight after I overstayed in a post-tournament party. I think I've missed three flights like that.

Did you have a life-threatening episode?

You know, I'm actually very afraid of flying.

Maybe it's why I tend to miss flights so much,

Every time I'm flying in an airplane, I feel like I'm in great danger,

and I always think that the plane will just fall down and that will be the end of it.

Which flight was the most frightening to you?

One time I was flying to New York, about 8 or 10 years ago,

And we've entered a zone with very violent turbulence.

It was my first time flying here, so I didn't know that. On top of that, at that time I didn't speak much English, so I didn't understand what the pilots were announcing about the atmospheric turbulence.

It was pretty extreme and I was terrified. I thought it was the end.

When was the last time you washed your clothes by hand?

It was a long time ago,

but I want to say that I've only brought 1 pair of socks with me to the Moscow's championship, so I'll have to do it again today or tomorrow.

No, seriously, I didn't bring any more.

The coolest football match you've attended?

I have only attended lower level matches, can't really say I've seen any of the cool ones, unfortunately.

I hope in the future I will attend a major football match.

Which band's or artist's concert do you wish to visit?

I really enjoy ATB and trance genre in general.

I also like Tiesto. If time allows, I would like to visit Tiesto's concert in Wrocław this year.

The most romantic thing you've done for a girl?

I am not a romantic person, but...

Sometimes I take romantic photos with roses and stuff, but I'm not a romantic person at all.

Maybe I'll do something romantic in the future...

What jobs did you have before becoming an e-sports athlete?

I worked in a gym as little as a couple years ago,

I worked as a coach and assisted at the reception.

The salary ranged from $500 to even $3000-4000 if you're a really good trainer.

What country do you dream to visit?

I really like the USA, and I have always loved being there.

As for countries I've never been to, maybe Australia.

I really like its weather and beautiful sights.

In Italy, you have played in a tournament that was hosted in a church. Was it the most bizarre place you've ever played Quake in?

I'd say yes. I had never played in a church before, and gaming and sometimes swearing inside was extremely weird. It was really strange.

Because, after all, I'm a Pole and a Christian, so that was extremely bizarre.

What was the weirdest question a journalist have ever asked you?

The most common questions are the weirdest ones. Like: "How old are you?", or "What's your name?" and so on.

I get sick of them being asked all the time.

And I definitely enjoy random, more interesting questions from different people much more.

1. Gently scrape the thread of the pipe with a blade, so that the late tow will not "drive" the thread during tightening

2. Apply the paste (manufacturer advises) on the thread first

3. Put the towbar in the right amount so that the tightening will be resisted after the first 2-3 turns

4. Tighten the pipe to the fitting with the pipe wrench and check for leaks READY :) should be on 99.9% tight threaded connection.

How to properly seal the pipe thread with tow (hemp)? BISAN sealing set - Duration: 8:22.

6 Words to Close More Sales - Duration: 3:06.

Welcome to this week's episode of momentum Monday I'm your host Paul Halme.

And we are we going deep into getting you more leads more sales and more

profits. So in this week's episode we're going to go over six words

to close more sales. I know how people hate talking about sales, all

sales sucks. Those sales are the lifeblood of your business next to leads. Sales is huge because it allows you to

impact people. These people aren't coming to your gym to be hard-sold they're

coming because they're looking for something and if you don't close them,

you didn't discover what they needed, you didn't help them figure out what the

solution was, that you're the perfect fit. So I'm gonna show you the key way to do

this. What happens most of the time someone comes into a gym and you give them a

tour or you show them around like, 'hey you know what brought you in today?'

Super easy question most sales guys will ask that question. 'What brought you in today?' 'Oh you

know I'm looking to lose weight.' And this is a problem, most people stop at that.

And they say 'oh great we can help you with that' and they go into

their pitch, 'hey we got this class, we got that class, we've got this, our

trainers won this blah blah blah blah blah. But they never addressed why.

This is super important six words to close more sales. So if someone says

come to my gym and they're like 'oh yeah I really need to lose

weight.' Okay great, why is that important to you alright.

Because I want this to be all about them. When they come into my gym it's a

customized experience I'm not gonna hard sell them. If they don't want to be a

member of my gym that's fine but if they have a problem that I can cure it's my

responsibility to fix it alright. So why the why so if they say oh I wanna lose

weight. Well you sit there why is that important to you and then shut up don't

talk just listen to them they're gonna talk okay. The first person

the talk is gonna lose in this situation you let them think about it because

there's some reason they're in there, they're not in there to lose weight

they not gonna lose weight because they can't go over the park with their kids without

getting exhausted. They come home from work and they want to lay on the couch

and they're just lazy um they're you know 50 pounds overweight they're on

blood high blood pressure medication and they don't want to die before their kid

graduates. Everybody has a reason so when they come in basically you gonna ask

them hey what brought you in today boom find out what brought them in and then

we go deeper okay this. You owe it to them to go deeper. So why is that

important to you. I want to find out what the real reason is they're in

and what they need from me and my gym all right, it's gonna use it selling

anything why is that important to you because at the end of the day it's all

about them. If your training experience doesn't live up to this you're gonna

have bad retention rate you can always track it back to that. So if you can start

your customer experience here, why is it important to you go into that next level

on building from there you're gonna have an epic gym I promise. So this is huge

because I want my guys and my future students to know that I'm interested in

them, what they need. Everybody comes to my gym for a different reason I mean

they're usually the top five reasons are all the same but you go one layer deeper

and I guarantee you you'll find out the real reason they're coming in. And I

guarantee you'll increase your sales at your gym right, you can impact more

people get more people trained in jiu-jitsu, Muay Thai, MMA, Krav Maga

How can this be easy? Momentum Monday - Duration: 3:40.

Welcome to Momentum Monday! Today's easy tip tip is:

How can you make it easy?

Last week I talked about a little bit of the pre-stuff of that so go back and check on on

that. But how can it be easy?

That curiosity question that I talked about last week.

And

I have to tell you a story with this one because it tells so much of just being curious and wondering how

this is gonna work out all right.

Some of you might know I'm a dental hygienist, practicing dental hygienist as well as a transformational coach. I

walked out one day... you know and and in your work you have people who just you know everything you say

Is misconstrued,

its

confrontational, right?

That was who was on my schedule

and I looked at my schedule and I went (sign. Hmmm)

And I decided to

practice a tool that I had just learned and it was

"How can it be easy"?

How can it be easy to see this person .. (dogs barking) my dogs really feel this is important...

How can it be easy to see someone that I in the past has always made me anxious?

He's wound up. He's tight. He comes in super dressed. Tight tie.

Jacket. Stiff. Straight. Sits down. It's like; let's get it done. Don't tell me anything and

and I get kind of nervous when my patients are nervous. I

went out (to get him) I said "how could it be easy?" "How can today be easy?" "How could it be different?" Right.

So I walked out to the reception area and there was this

gentleman reading a magazine. He had on a red sweater and jeans.

I called his name

And he looked up and smiled

Whoa! Blow me away!

So "how can this be easy?"

What are you always coming up against

that could be easy if you just asked?

So I want to hear what you have to say! Please share.

Phenomenal stories come out of this. Just a simple open to something new.

And in the background here you might notice that I'm preparing for the pendulum workshop

That's coming up Wednesday

Why Do Nurses Quit? - Duration: 3:44.

In today's episode, I'm going to tell a story from the book Switch about a healthcare provider

dealing with a talent retention issue - they wanted to figure out why nurses were leaving

and what they could do to retain them.

But by flipping the question on its head, they discovered that identity was the key

to retention.

Lovelace Health System in New Mexico was experiencing rapid turnover among its nurses.

They were concerned about the costs of replacing them, the effect the turnover was having on

morale, and the risks to patient care during each transition.

So the vice president of hospital operations tried an unconventional approach to analyzing

the turnover problem.

She brought in a consultant who was an expert in Appreciative Inquiry.

Just like the positive deviants I talked about in episode 7, Appreciative Inquiry focuses

on the bright spots in an organization and asks questions much like those asked in the

solutions-focused therapy that I described in episode 8.

Appreciative Inquiry was created by David Cooperrider and Suresh Srivastva.

Here is David Cooperrider:

In a nutshell, appreciative inquiry is an approach to transformation and development

that is all based on a questioning kind of approach that searches for everything that

gives life to a living human system when it's most alive.

And it uses that kind of inquiry process.

For example, we have an encyclopedia of positive questions.

Hundreds and hundreds of carefully-crafted questions to help elevate the true, the good,

the better, the possible - everything that gives life to a system.

Appreciative Inquiry changed the focus of the investigation from why so many nurses

were leaving to why other nurses were staying.

They interviewed 100 nurses and asked what made their jobs satisfying.

They discovered that the nurses who stayed were fiercely loyal to the profession of nursing.

They got their satisfaction from their identity as nurses.

It was the nobility of the nursing profession itself that gave meaning to their work.

Armed with this knowledge, the hospital administration started to focus on how they could help nurses

cultivate their identity.

They began to recognize extraordinary nursing performance, they created mentorship programs,

and they developed an orientation program built around the admirable nature of nursing

work.

The first signs of the change were improvements in employee satisfaction survey scores.

Then turnover decreased by 30%.

But then something surprising happened.

Patient satisfaction survey scores starting increasing as well.

This story teaches us several things about how to bring about change.

We learned from Appreciative Inquiry to look not just at solving problems by focusing on

what's wrong, but to examine what is going right and ask questions in a manner that highlights

the positive aspects of people's experiences.

We also learned another example of the power of identity and how strengthening that identity

can change people's behavior.

In de Promo: Noorse Coquille - Duration: 1:16.

Good day ladies and gentlemen

What do we have for you the next two weeks in our promo?

Sea scallops from Norway

What do we know about these scallops?

The scallops from Norway are, of course, being caught in Norway

What else do we know?

This scallops is mainly handpicked by divers

you can see this at the clip which is attached to the shell

It literally says 'handpicked by divers'

And because the scallop is hand dived, it is nearly free from sand and mud.

Making it the taste and structure.

The scallop season runs from September to May.

The quality of the scallops between June and August is not always good

Therefor it is not recommended to use the scallops during this period.

Good alternatives are the St. Jacques and de scallops from Scotland.

The scallops from Norway are sustainable, because it is being caught by hand.

The taste of the scallop is quite sweet, which is really nice

The scallop can be grilled, fried

but especially, and that is what I prefer, it can be consumed raw.

Good luck the next two weeks with this winner

see you next time!
